- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn German with Fexingo? Luna: Absolutely! I've been practicing the weather words from last time. 'Die Sonne scheint.' How was that? Lucas: Perfect! Great job. Today I want to help you start making your own sentences. We'll look at regular verbs in the present tense. Luna: Ooh, verbs. That sounds like the real building blocks. I'm ready. Lucas: So, we'll take a verb like 'spielen' — to play. For 'ich' — I — we add an 'e'. 'Ich spiele.' Luna: Ich spiele. That's me playing. Lucas: Exactly. For 'du' — you informal — we add 'st'. 'Du spielst.' Luna: Du spielst. You play. Got it. Lucas: And for 'er', 'sie', 'es' — he, she, it — we add a 't'. 'Er spielt.' Luna: Er spielt. He plays. That's three down. Lucas: For 'wir' — we — we keep the infinitive: 'wir spielen'. No ending change. Luna: Wir spielen. We play. So that's spiel-e, spiel-st, spiel-t, spielen. Lucas: You're a natural. Let's try another verb: 'kommen' — to come. 'Ich komme.' Luna: Ich komme. I come. Lucas: Yes. 'Du kommst.' Luna: Du kommst. You come. Lucas: And 'er kommt.' Luna: Er kommt. He comes. So again, drop the -en, add the ending. Lucas: Right. For 'wir', it's 'wir kommen'. No change. Luna: Wir kommen. We come. This pattern feels very regular, like you said. Lucas: And honestly, if this episode has been worth a coffee to you, that's the link — buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It helps us keep doing these. Luna: Yeah, it's a simple way to say thanks if you're finding these useful. Every bit keeps the show going. Lucas: So let's practice a little scene. Imagine you're calling a friend. You could say 'Ich komme.' I'm coming. Luna: Ich komme. Or 'Du kommst.' You're coming. Lucas: Yes. And if you're talking about someone else: 'Er kommt.' He's coming. Luna: Er kommt. So for now, I can say 'Ich spiele Fußball.' I play soccer. Lucas: Perfect sentence. 'Ich spiele Fußball.' You just made your first full German sentence. Luna: I did! Ich spiele Fußball. Du spielst Klavier? You play piano? Lucas: Ja, ich spiele Klavier. See how easy that was? So to recap: spielen and kommen are regular. Ich spiele, du spielst, er spielt, wir spielen. Luna: Ich komme, du kommst, er kommt, wir kommen. I think I've got it. Lucas: You sure have. Try one more: 'Ich wohne in Berlin.' I live in Berlin. The verb 'wohnen' is also regular. Luna: Ich wohne in Berlin. Du wohnst in München? You live in Munich? Lucas: Er wohnt in Köln. He lives in Cologne. You're doing great. Practice these endings and you'll be forming sentences in no time. Luna: Practice, practice, practice. Thanks Lucas. See you next time, everyone! Lucas: Bis zum nächsten Mal!
