  - Now stillness is difficult in a world that

  - constantly demands our attention.

  - the biggest challenge

  - in the believer's life when it comes to

  - prayer is distraction.

  - Whether it's life, the phone,

  - social media, you name it. There's any number

  - of ways

  - to compete with our attention.

  - Yet throughout scripture,

  - God repeatedly
• 1:18
  - invited his people to slow down,
• 1:21
  - pause,
• 1:22
  - and remember
• 1:24
  - who he is.

  - Now, stillness is not emptiness.

  - It's
• 1:33
  - an intentional
• 1:35
  - silence
• 1:36
  - and focus.

  - It's

  - the
• 1:43
  - the area
• 1:45
  - of space
• 1:46
  - that's intentional
• 1:48
  - for connection.

  - Many times, we ask God to speak while

  - surrounding ourselves with constant noise.

  - Well, let me assure you, if God actually

  - spoke in the midst of it, it would

  - probably blow our eardrums out.

  - So rather than compete with all of the

  - other things,
• 2:10
  - he allows us to calm ourselves down and
• 2:13
  - provide
• 2:14
  - and give him a full undivided attention.

  - But stillness creates room for peace,
• 2:23
  - reflection,
• 2:24
  - discernment, and spiritual clarity,
• 2:27
  - all which are needed
• 2:29
  - for
• 2:31
  - spiritual balance in the believer's life today.

  - It teaches us that prayer is not only
• 2:37
  - about speaking.

  - It is also
• 2:40
  - about listening.

  - When we become still before God,

  - anxiety
• 2:47
  - begins to settle.

  - Our thoughts become clearer.

  - We become more aware of his presence.

  - when we mix it all up with prayer,

  - our hearts realign with truth, which is what

  - god is.

  - Truth in its purest form.

  - Stillness strengthens trust because it teaches us to

  - rest in God

  - instead of rushing

  - ahead without him.

  - Father God, teach us to slow down

  - Quiet the noise within us and around us.

  - Help us to recognize your presence in the

  - and trust your guidance
