These chapters show David’s kingdom still facing trouble even after Absalom’s rebellion ends. In 2 Samuel 20, another rebellion rises through Sheba. In 2 Samuel 21, the nation faces famine connected to Saul’s past violence against the Gibeonites. In 2 Samuel 22, David looks back and praises the Lord for delivering him through every danger. The simple truth is this: God’s people may face rebellion, consequence, conflict, and exhaustion, but the Lord still delivers.
