- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys, welcome to another episode of Eating While Broke.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm your host, coleeen Wait, and today we have very
- 0:05Speaker 1: special iconic group Bone Thugs and Harmony in the building.
- 0:09Speaker 1: We got Crazy, Lazy and Flesh. I am beyond ecstatic
- 0:14Speaker 1: to even be sitting next to you guys, having let aload,
- 0:18Speaker 1: having Lazy do the cooking. And you know what are
- 0:25Speaker 1: you gonna have us eating today?
- 0:27Speaker 2: What we're gonna eat is a breakdown. Some call it
- 0:30Speaker 2: a breakdown, some call it a spread. So you got
- 0:33Speaker 2: your ramen noodles with a little chicken breast, a little
- 0:37Speaker 2: pinch of jalapenos, Sprinkle it with a little bit of
- 0:42Speaker 2: toritos to add a little crunch to it. You know,
- 0:47Speaker 2: I'm a grill. I'm a grill those I'm gonna put
- 0:50Speaker 2: some cheese on top, add a little flavor to it,
- 0:53Speaker 2: and we're gonna have us an old school breakdown with
- 0:56Speaker 2: not all they agreed. It's just like one of the
- 0:58Speaker 2: brokens days.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Problem Now this is is this well before Bowling, Thugs
- 1:25Speaker 1: and Harmony or is this during after? Feel me in?
- 1:30Speaker 2: This is Junior High the elementary junior high high school twenties, thirties, forties,
- 1:39Speaker 2: Eating this all our life.
- 1:40Speaker 3: And especially jail especially jail House too, because that's all
- 1:43Speaker 3: you got, that's all.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Yeh yeah, yeah, that's hilarious.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Now, now when you're cooking this dish, I'm really curious
- 1:52Speaker 1: to when you're cooking this dish on this show, if
- 1:56Speaker 1: you are thinking about your milestones that you have from
- 2:00Speaker 1: cooking this dish, because you guys have a lot of
- 2:03Speaker 1: stuff you've done. You have a Biggie Easy Tupac collaborations
- 2:09Speaker 1: Mariah Carrey. You know, we got to touch on all
- 2:13Speaker 1: these topics, but I want to know all the behind
- 2:15Speaker 1: the scenes. I don't want to hear anything you guys
- 2:17Speaker 1: said during any other interviews. I want to I want
- 2:19Speaker 1: to be in the kitchen with you guys. And I'm
- 2:22Speaker 1: hoping you guys can spell the tea. Lady. You get
- 2:24Speaker 1: on the cook you start cooking, and take me take
- 2:30Speaker 1: me back to the probably the og original time he
- 2:34Speaker 1: started making this dish.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Well, I started making this dish as early as I
- 2:41Speaker 2: can cook.
- 2:41Speaker 4: You know, we started cooking.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Noodles very very early, you know, so it's from the beginning. Man,
- 2:47Speaker 2: we want to elaborate.
- 2:48Speaker 5: I mean, you know, we was wed.
- 2:51Speaker 3: That's that's all. You had when you was coming up
- 2:54Speaker 3: even you know, five six years old, coming up out
- 2:57Speaker 3: that ruder man coming out that ruder and everything. You know,
- 3:00Speaker 3: we was uh, from the rooter to the tutor, from
- 3:05Speaker 3: the very very very beginning.
- 3:07Speaker 5: You say.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Sometimes you know, you know, because sometimes even as little
- 3:10Speaker 3: as a little g all you had was something that
- 3:14Speaker 3: you know, sometimes you didn't have hot water. Sometimes you
- 3:17Speaker 3: gotta eat that motherfucker. Excuse my French, y'all, sometimes you
- 3:21Speaker 3: gotta eat it. Just put the water in there or
- 3:23Speaker 3: whatnot and let it soften up and then go with
- 3:26Speaker 3: it like that. Sometimes you didn't have a chip. Sometimes
- 3:28Speaker 3: you definitely had a breast and uh and the ingredients
- 3:32Speaker 3: to go with it.
- 3:33Speaker 2: And uh so you will have to put the top
- 3:36Speaker 2: over the lid over there and just let it just
- 3:38Speaker 2: simmer down and warm water because the noodles, you know,
- 3:41Speaker 2: the longer they sit in news the water noodles sit
- 3:43Speaker 2: in water, they swell, they get soft.
- 3:46Speaker 4: So you know what I mean.
- 3:47Speaker 2: So sometimes we didn't have the heat because we ain't
- 3:49Speaker 2: had gas something at the crib.
- 3:52Speaker 1: So before all the lifetime achievements and all the accolades,
- 3:57Speaker 1: can you guys take me back to a time when
- 3:58Speaker 1: you were making this dish and time wasn't it wasn't
- 4:02Speaker 1: looking good and maybe you guys were just at a
- 4:05Speaker 1: crosshoads of despair. Maybe can any of you guys elaborate, do.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Know about the Vassilia when the Visilia went like like
- 4:14Speaker 3: we had on one of our stops. Uh, we had
- 4:17Speaker 3: a stop when we were coming out here. We had
- 4:20Speaker 3: been out here for like two maybe two and a
- 4:22Speaker 3: half maybe three months. We uh, we moved up to
- 4:25Speaker 3: Vossilia and this is before the easy e this is
- 4:28Speaker 3: before him taking a song and uh and uh, you
- 4:33Speaker 3: know we was we was rough necking it real tough,
- 4:36Speaker 3: real real tough up there. You know, we had came
- 4:38Speaker 3: up on the little apartment. You know that we ended
- 4:41Speaker 3: up ended up actually spreading graffiti on the walls and
- 4:47Speaker 3: ship the apartment was really bad. They was bad, you
- 4:51Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. They sprayed a b boy on
- 4:54Speaker 3: the wall and you know, yeah, not giving a damn
- 4:57Speaker 3: about you know, getting kicked out and like that. But yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 3: it was you know, we was doing a couple of
- 5:03Speaker 3: things to come up, come up on a meal and
- 5:07Speaker 3: everything and on again you know.
- 5:08Speaker 4: We go what you mean, like robbing the piece of man.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, we'll hit up, but we'll hit up you
- 5:12Speaker 3: know the eighteen nineteen Yeah, so yeah, so.
- 5:19Speaker 4: It was it was four easy.
- 5:23Speaker 1: So it was before easy.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it was before easy. You know, we had to
- 5:26Speaker 3: do the thing, you know, the north Ridge earthquake.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Had just oh I remember that.
- 5:30Speaker 3: We got we got caught up in that and then
- 5:34Speaker 3: so but we was we was we was on some
- 5:36Speaker 3: real struggle ship for real.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, you guys could so were you guys
- 5:43Speaker 1: all just living in a one bedroom apartment trying to
- 5:45Speaker 1: pursue music or.
- 5:46Speaker 3: One bedroom two bedroom apartment that we shared. You know,
- 5:50Speaker 3: it was all of us, all of us together, and
- 5:53Speaker 3: you know, we had a couple of homies that knew
- 5:55Speaker 3: somebody had to have two friends that was out here
- 5:58Speaker 3: going to school playing ball. They had was holding down
- 6:01Speaker 3: a little I forgot what type of job there was,
- 6:04Speaker 3: but they knew they knew folks that can help us
- 6:06Speaker 3: out and put us, put us in places as we
- 6:08Speaker 3: was trying to get get it, get to get to
- 6:11Speaker 3: our goals.
- 6:12Speaker 5: You know.
- 6:12Speaker 3: So you know, ended up getting on a little general assistance.
- 6:16Speaker 3: You know that the opportunity came to get a little
- 6:18Speaker 3: bit of money after the earthquake hit, earthquake hit bam.
- 6:22Speaker 3: It was money available for us to get so you know,
- 6:25Speaker 3: you know, we was able to kick in a little bit.
- 6:28Speaker 1: First time we went shopping.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah, something like that.
- 6:31Speaker 5: Yeah, it was.
- 6:32Speaker 3: It was It's nice ship. It was free money, all right.
- 6:36Speaker 1: But did any of you guys have to hold down
- 6:38Speaker 1: jobs when you first moved here?
- 6:39Speaker 3: Almost we was themn we first moved here.
- 6:42Speaker 2: We thought about it, but that ain't what we was
- 6:44Speaker 2: here for. We was here to become rappers for real.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Now, was there any point in this journey where you
- 6:52Speaker 1: guys had naysayers or someone in the group starting to say, man,
- 6:55Speaker 1: are we crazy for pursuing this? Was there any any
- 6:59Speaker 1: room for you know, the doubt whispers?
- 7:01Speaker 3: I mean, just not like that. It might have been
- 7:05Speaker 3: like she because when we got on that greyhound just
- 7:09Speaker 3: coming from Cleveland, first time we came up on the tickets, right,
- 7:12Speaker 3: we came on the tickets to get on the greyhound,
- 7:14Speaker 3: say you know, we're gonna go ahead and get up
- 7:16Speaker 3: out of Cleveland. And it might have been the instance
- 7:18Speaker 3: when we was on that Greyhound, when we're getting close
- 7:20Speaker 3: to La where we realized, like, oh yeah, ship, dark,
- 7:23Speaker 3: what we're gonna do, is the homie's gonna call us
- 7:26Speaker 3: when we get there, when we get off the bus,
- 7:28Speaker 3: if we if we call them as they really gonna
- 7:30Speaker 3: come pick us up. We had doubts with respects to that,
- 7:33Speaker 3: No doubts in okay, what we're doing as far as
- 7:36Speaker 3: pursuing every measure to be able to start knocking on doors,
- 7:41Speaker 3: to be able to start approaching or talking to whoever
- 7:43Speaker 3: we needed to get to. But yeah, it was a
- 7:45Speaker 3: it was a couple of instances, like because it was
- 7:48Speaker 3: real serious, we was on some real you know, you know,
- 7:51Speaker 3: you know, you know, didn't have food this day to
- 7:54Speaker 3: the next. You know, there was a long three bus
- 7:57Speaker 3: three day bus bus ride out here, so you know
- 8:00Speaker 3: we might have had on the ground.
- 8:03Speaker 1: So how long till your next huge major milestone between
- 8:07Speaker 1: that time and your huge major milestone And what was
- 8:11Speaker 1: that major milestone?
- 8:14Speaker 4: Meeting?
- 8:15Speaker 2: Meeting easy was the first milestone because we was out
- 8:18Speaker 2: here homeless at that time. And then when we got
- 8:21Speaker 2: in the apartment for a few months, were just really
- 8:25Speaker 2: just moving around and we finally met easy E and
- 8:31Speaker 2: that was the really that's the start.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Of we said you finally as in like you guys
- 8:35Speaker 1: were like we're gonna We're gonna get to him.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we knew we was looking for Easy. Our mission
- 8:40Speaker 2: was when we left Cleveland, Ohio. We was our mission was.
- 8:43Speaker 2: We was telling everybody in the hood, were finish go
- 8:46Speaker 2: meet Easy E. Were about to come back and do
- 8:48Speaker 2: a video. Of course we didn't know, so we was
- 8:51Speaker 2: lying like a motherfucker.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And this is your your homies in Cleveland.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, it's like, y'all ain't gonna come back with
- 8:58Speaker 2: no Easy equip playing.
- 9:00Speaker 3: We're telling them we watch you know, little do we know,
- 9:03Speaker 3: we speak in reality into existence by telling them, Yo,
- 9:06Speaker 3: we're finna come back with a record deal, We're gonna
- 9:11Speaker 3: come back with a with a whole situation, We're gonna
- 9:14Speaker 3: beyond and uh and we're gonna come back with a
- 9:17Speaker 3: bus and camera crew all of that. So you know,
- 9:20Speaker 3: you know, so this is you know, we had a
- 9:23Speaker 3: bunch of homies that was supporting us and always still
- 9:26Speaker 3: to this day. You know, even before we made it,
- 9:28Speaker 3: was supporting us to the fullest. Say it was there,
- 9:30Speaker 3: but you know, you might have had a few, a
- 9:33Speaker 3: few maybe one or two nay sayers here and there though, like, yeah,
- 9:37Speaker 3: y'all niggas is crazy thinking y'all finna go do anything
- 9:40Speaker 3: like that.
- 9:41Speaker 1: So how did you guys approach them? Tell me the backstory,
- 9:44Speaker 1: the stuff that nobody knows about. Please?
- 9:47Speaker 5: Yes, indeed?
- 9:49Speaker 3: Well, well, Cray you want to you want to chime
- 9:52Speaker 3: in as far as like how they come about.
- 9:54Speaker 1: How they come about? How did you guys catch them up?
- 9:57Speaker 5: Man? You know, we just we just kept putting in
- 10:01Speaker 5: the phone calls to his own like somebody from Cleveland
- 10:04Speaker 5: gave us his number, well the numbers of roofless records,
- 10:08Speaker 5: and we just kept calling every day, every single day
- 10:11Speaker 5: until the reception is there was like, you know, I'm
- 10:15Speaker 5: gonna make sure he called y'all back today. Y'all been
- 10:18Speaker 5: calling every day, you know, y'all, I'm gonna make sure
- 10:21Speaker 5: he called you back. And he called us backs. So
- 10:25Speaker 5: he called his back.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Yeah, and that was that was a major situation for us,
- 10:29Speaker 3: because you know, we struggled and hustled real hard to
- 10:34Speaker 3: get to that point to even just get you know,
- 10:36Speaker 3: to get on the phone with him. We end up
- 10:39Speaker 3: getting getting him on the phone, auditioning on the phone phone.
- 10:44Speaker 1: And where did you guys do it on speaker?
- 10:47Speaker 3: I think it was Joe just put the judge put
- 10:49Speaker 3: the phone out because I don't think that technology was
- 10:52Speaker 3: out back then. It was one of them phones back
- 10:54Speaker 3: in nineteen ninety three, nineteen ninety three, the cord on.
- 10:59Speaker 3: You pick it up and you know that down and
- 11:02Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying, So you know, he we
- 11:04Speaker 3: talking and in order to hear his voice, you gotta
- 11:06Speaker 3: pass it. But when we was rapping to him and
- 11:08Speaker 3: Craig sat the phone right there and was uh, and
- 11:11Speaker 3: then uh, you know, it was spitting into him like that.
- 11:13Speaker 3: But we we spoke. We spoke to him a couple
- 11:15Speaker 3: of times though the initial the initial conversation and lay
- 11:20Speaker 3: Lay and busy had smashed to the store, but he
- 11:23Speaker 3: had We had talked to him a couple of times
- 11:25Speaker 3: on the phone before we decided that. He was telling
- 11:28Speaker 3: us that uh, you know, see he was on tour
- 11:31Speaker 3: at the time and that's why it took so long
- 11:34Speaker 3: for him to hit his back, you know. So, but
- 11:36Speaker 3: he did that. The receptionist lady by the name of Keisha,
- 11:40Speaker 3: Keisha Anderson, promised us that he was gonna get there,
- 11:44Speaker 3: you know, make sure, I'm gonna make sure he called
- 11:46Speaker 3: your back. And she came true. She came through with
- 11:49Speaker 3: her promise. He called us back and he told us
- 11:52Speaker 3: we was on tour. Matter of fact, I'm gonna be
- 11:53Speaker 3: in Cleveland. I gotta show in Cleveland. Why don't you'll
- 11:55Speaker 3: come rock out? Y'all want to do that show with me?
- 11:58Speaker 1: So that was that was your next opportunity right there.
- 12:02Speaker 4: That was and.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Ground we go ease.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Yeah, So he didn't actually invite us to be on
- 12:13Speaker 5: the show with him. He just told us he had
- 12:14Speaker 5: a show back home, and we decided we're gonna get
- 12:18Speaker 5: back to Cleveland so we could opened up that show
- 12:20Speaker 5: because we had hookups in Cleveland.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, so it wasn't it wasn't definitely wasn't officially
- 12:26Speaker 3: eshton Stone. Yet we still had a little bit more,
- 12:29Speaker 3: a few more hurdles to jump through, so we uh
- 12:32Speaker 3: we spoke to our folks, ended up getting bus tickets
- 12:35Speaker 3: back home.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I love it.
- 12:37Speaker 3: So were back on the three and a half three
- 12:39Speaker 3: day trip back home. You know, we get there, folks,
- 12:41Speaker 3: Hoo hooks us up to be able to get a
- 12:43Speaker 3: slot on the opening opening, one of the opening slots
- 12:47Speaker 3: on the show. We do our thing, of course, hoping
- 12:50Speaker 3: that easy get a glimpse of us and uh and
- 12:53Speaker 3: he didn't.
- 12:54Speaker 1: He did not know.
- 12:55Speaker 3: He didn't, you know, because that's the way it go.
- 12:58Speaker 3: You know, you got whoever your headline are for the
- 13:00Speaker 3: shows and whatnot, they're not finna be out there, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 3: checking out no acts or whatnot. So you know, but
- 13:06Speaker 3: you know, we did what we had to do, and
- 13:08Speaker 3: uh and stuck around to watch Easy of course, watch
- 13:11Speaker 3: him do his thing, and uh and uh and they
- 13:16Speaker 3: rocked the house him Gangster Dras, the BG knockout of course,
- 13:19Speaker 3: DJ Yeller they always there, did they sang?
- 13:21Speaker 1: And so what was that next milestone that got you
- 13:24Speaker 1: got got got Easy to make.
- 13:28Speaker 3: A move definitely. We was there after this. So after
- 13:31Speaker 3: they were done doing what they had to do, it
- 13:33Speaker 3: was like, okay, how we gonna make this happen and
- 13:35Speaker 3: get this get this in And so we tried to
- 13:39Speaker 3: follow him backstage. Me and Lay made it backstage to
- 13:41Speaker 3: holler at him. While we was back there, Lay start
- 13:44Speaker 3: spinning some rhymes and we had I think, knock he
- 13:47Speaker 3: was out there. DJ Yeller was out there, you know.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Easy he stuck his head out the door and immediately
- 13:53Speaker 3: when he heard that sound, he stuck his head out
- 13:55Speaker 3: like yo, y all them cast That was wrapping for
- 13:58Speaker 3: me on the phone. That was that's y'all. Yeah, okay,
- 14:01Speaker 3: he invited us in. He had already had company, was
- 14:04Speaker 3: already like ten fifteen people crowd in his dressing room
- 14:07Speaker 3: and everything trying to you know, you know, trying to
- 14:10Speaker 3: pitch themselves to him and everything with me and Lay
- 14:12Speaker 3: kind of like went in there and held it down.
- 14:15Speaker 3: And while while we was in there with him, I
- 14:19Speaker 3: was in his ear the whole time, like, you know,
- 14:22Speaker 3: you know, you know, you know, we got that mojo.
- 14:24Speaker 3: I mean, we got that mojo right here, this next
- 14:27Speaker 3: big thing right here. You know, it's it's you know,
- 14:29Speaker 3: niggas in there, you know, trying to talk. They ship,
- 14:32Speaker 3: you know, you know, spit their game and all that,
- 14:34Speaker 3: you know, But we came out. I guess you know,
- 14:37Speaker 3: he was interested in us.
- 14:39Speaker 1: He definitely was. So take me to that first session
- 14:42Speaker 1: behind the scenes. What was going on? What was it
- 14:45Speaker 1: like working with Easy? Sure you don't want another pack? Lazy?
- 14:50Speaker 5: Yeah? I need?
- 14:50Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he's acting like he's cooking for what he's
- 14:53Speaker 1: cooking for all of us.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Look, we'll be we'll be fighting over this one pack
- 14:57Speaker 2: around here.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Yeah, can use three.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I'm like literally taking in this moment. This is such
- 15:03Speaker 1: a cool moment for me right now to see you
- 15:05Speaker 1: cooking this whole moment. Okay, yes, I smell it. I'm
- 15:10Speaker 1: just making did I see you put Lowry's in the water,
- 15:14Speaker 1: but you don't think there's enough salt in the ramin seasoning. Okay,
- 15:21Speaker 1: So take take me to that first studio session.
- 15:24Speaker 3: That first studio session was like, you know, it took
- 15:28Speaker 3: us less than a couple of weeks to get to
- 15:31Speaker 3: complete the EP. But he let us do our thing.
- 15:34Speaker 3: You know, he let us do our thing. That first
- 15:36Speaker 3: studio session. It was just us. He had producers in there,
- 15:44Speaker 3: give it me. He had the producers in there, mahmieh,
- 15:47Speaker 3: DJ Unique and Kenny McLeod uh. We had ideas on
- 15:51Speaker 3: how to uh spit the beats and everything, and not
- 15:54Speaker 3: spit the beats, but tell them the sounds that we
- 15:56Speaker 3: need to h on, what to produce, on how to
- 15:59Speaker 3: make the sound come out on the track. We would
- 16:00Speaker 3: let him know, yo, do this, play this sound, do
- 16:02Speaker 3: it like this, and they would come up with the track.
- 16:05Speaker 3: That's how the first few some of the first few
- 16:07Speaker 3: tracks was made by just humming it to him, humming
- 16:10Speaker 3: the sounds, humming the tune to him and DJ Unique
- 16:13Speaker 3: and Kenny McCloud was the was the man on the
- 16:16Speaker 3: keys and whatnot and making it happen. And then all
- 16:19Speaker 3: he came back with tracks as we as we hunted
- 16:22Speaker 3: to him and I hummed it to him. They came
- 16:25Speaker 3: back with the full tracks, you know, loaded, so you know,
- 16:28Speaker 3: but he let us do our things off the rip.
- 16:30Speaker 3: I don't think he got in the studio with us
- 16:32Speaker 3: as far as on the foot of love of money.
- 16:35Speaker 3: You know, Easy was the business man that you know
- 16:38Speaker 3: that put the whole situation together when he asked us
- 16:42Speaker 3: what y'all want to do? He let he cut us
- 16:44Speaker 3: loose in the studio. He let he let us. He
- 16:48Speaker 3: let us run it and do it and do what
- 16:50Speaker 3: we had to do and come up with the records
- 16:52Speaker 3: and the ideas that we needed to come up with
- 16:54Speaker 3: for the Creeping On to come up and you know,
- 16:57Speaker 3: to make it the eternal, the Eternal East nineteen ninety
- 17:01Speaker 3: ninety turnal record happened. You know, because we knew Easy
- 17:04Speaker 3: for about fifteens, maybe eighteen months, the last eighteen months
- 17:08Speaker 3: of his life. We was close. We was like brother.
- 17:10Speaker 3: He was like the sixth ball member.
- 17:13Speaker 1: So when you look at just because I have to
- 17:18Speaker 1: cover a lot in a little bit of time. When
- 17:20Speaker 1: you take you've worked with Biggie Easy, Tupac, Mariah, I
- 17:25Speaker 1: have to throw Maria in there, man, Biggie Easy. Who
- 17:29Speaker 1: am I missing? Tupac Easy E Mariah Biggie Yeah, okay,
- 17:36Speaker 1: So I want you guys to eat. You could choose
- 17:38Speaker 1: your person and tell me, like, what was the most
- 17:42Speaker 1: memorable part about working with that artist? You could go
- 17:46Speaker 1: first crazy.
- 17:48Speaker 5: I mean to me, my most memorable was none of
- 17:53Speaker 5: those was none of those collaborations. It was it was
- 17:55Speaker 5: with Phil Collins. Really, just so we did with Phil
- 17:59Speaker 5: Collins that was memorable because nobody was expecting it. Phil
- 18:03Speaker 5: Collins had never done anything with any rappers ever before,
- 18:08Speaker 5: and we asked him to use the song and he agreed.
- 18:12Speaker 5: So we pushed the envelope and asked like, let's see
- 18:15Speaker 5: if he'll be in the video, and he was like,
- 18:18Speaker 5: the only way I'll be in this video is if
- 18:20Speaker 5: y'all come to Switzerland, and we was like, we'll be
- 18:23Speaker 5: there next week. And Phil was there, like you.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Got on a plane that time though, Oh yeah.
- 18:30Speaker 5: Phil was there. He was kicking it, man, he was
- 18:32Speaker 5: He was hanging out with us, just like and he
- 18:34Speaker 5: told us the reason he cleared the song because it
- 18:38Speaker 5: was one of his favorite songs. And he was like,
- 18:39Speaker 5: I think if you guys liked it, you must have
- 18:42Speaker 5: good taste in music. So I was like, okay, yeah,
- 18:45Speaker 5: that's what's up. Phil. We called him field Bone phield Bomb. Wow.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Wow, field Boone had a castle. He ain't had no
- 18:55Speaker 4: match if field Bone had a castle.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Oh yeah yeah. They called him Surfield, surf.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Field, surf Field.
- 19:02Speaker 1: That's amazing, that's yeah. What about you?
- 19:06Speaker 3: Well, I'd like to think that it's it's it's a
- 19:09Speaker 3: few of them. You know. I got had the the
- 19:13Speaker 3: session that I had with a big pun of course,
- 19:16Speaker 3: like but when he did did uh And you know,
- 19:19Speaker 3: I'm gonna say Biggie Smalls because that that session was
- 19:22Speaker 3: absolutely stone cold rock and roll.
- 19:25Speaker 5: You had.
- 19:26Speaker 3: You had, you had the Junior Mafia up in there,
- 19:29Speaker 3: Little Season them up in there, Puffy up in there,
- 19:33Speaker 3: big uh uh uh uh, Biggie Smalls up in there,
- 19:36Speaker 3: and it was a cold man. We had the Hennes Seed,
- 19:39Speaker 3: we had the we had the end though it was
- 19:42Speaker 3: it was one of those sessions and everything. It was
- 19:45Speaker 3: real crazy, you know, twenty thirty deep and you had
- 19:47Speaker 3: Mo Thug. We got the mol Thug records up in there,
- 19:50Speaker 3: and uh and it was just one of those uh uh,
- 19:54Speaker 3: super super duper nice. You know, we got super blowed
- 19:57Speaker 3: up in there, and you know so but dealing with
- 20:00Speaker 3: and I got I got others though, you know, Big
- 20:03Speaker 3: Pun too, you know when he came through, went to
- 20:06Speaker 3: go do a record with Fat Joe. Fat Joe brought
- 20:10Speaker 3: Big Pun in there and and uh he ended up
- 20:12Speaker 3: getting on the record, writing the hook for the song
- 20:15Speaker 3: No Mercy on my solo album and everything.
- 20:18Speaker 1: What in particular about those sessions stood out that made
- 20:21Speaker 1: him more iconic.
- 20:22Speaker 3: The genius. The genius first of all, the genius in
- 20:26Speaker 3: uh in a big pun because he he came up
- 20:28Speaker 3: with the idea for the record, you feel what I'm saying.
- 20:31Speaker 3: He wrote the hook to it on the spot, and
- 20:33Speaker 3: not even though he was writing at the time, he panted,
- 20:35Speaker 3: He panted, just in a matter of minutes, said I
- 20:39Speaker 3: got something for the hook. And the dude was a genius,
- 20:42Speaker 3: you feel what I'm saying, you know, and and helping
- 20:44Speaker 3: us come up with with the topic. And uh, he
- 20:47Speaker 3: did that and it was his debut. It was as
- 20:50Speaker 3: a professional world debut on the Flesher Mone solo album.
- 20:55Speaker 3: So you know that that broke, that broke, big pun
- 20:59Speaker 3: and you you know it was the rest was history.
- 21:02Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, and then lazy I would say, we had
- 21:23Speaker 6: so many I would say probably Mariah Carey.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Thank you. I was, I was, I was manifested. I said,
- 21:29Speaker 1: please say Mariah please.
- 21:31Speaker 4: It was crazy.
- 21:32Speaker 2: And Wish had already had like did most of the
- 21:35Speaker 2: song already.
- 21:36Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying.
- 21:37Speaker 2: So when we came in, it was like everything was
- 21:41Speaker 2: basically laid out. But I remember Mariah Carey. This might
- 21:46Speaker 2: sound ad, but she had the greatest gifts in the world.
- 21:49Speaker 2: You know, she showereders would love like she really spoiled
- 21:53Speaker 2: us on that session on the Silverad, I only use
- 21:57Speaker 2: a half.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Of yeah because you had it all that long.
- 22:01Speaker 4: It was all that did you see that sprinkle game ahead?
- 22:05Speaker 1: I said, So you're saying, because Mariah, what you guys
- 22:11Speaker 1: made the session comfortable was her personality. It was like,
- 22:14Speaker 1: was she like the homie.
- 22:16Speaker 3: She was the homie the great home.
- 22:18Speaker 2: She was the host with the most you know what
- 22:21Speaker 2: I mean, her kindness, her generosity and then the skill
- 22:26Speaker 2: and Wish how she did doing her thing, you know
- 22:29Speaker 2: what I mean, and then she started flipping the flow
- 22:31Speaker 2: so that the impression that was left on me was like,
- 22:36Speaker 2: this girl can sing that how I know, rap kind
- 22:40Speaker 2: of and sing it, you know what I'm saying. So
- 22:42Speaker 2: it was like it was incredible to see what she
- 22:45Speaker 2: was doing, because you know, that was one of the
- 22:48Speaker 2: first super duper stars that told me. She was like,
- 22:52Speaker 2: I'm gonna do this like crazy, you know what I'm saying.
- 22:54Speaker 2: So that was one of them, that was one of
- 22:57Speaker 2: them sessions that was unforgettable because she was Mariah Carey.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, let me tell you, Maria. I'm always gonna
- 23:08Speaker 1: be a fan of like New Yorkers, of course, but
- 23:10Speaker 1: Mariah is not only talented, but the fact that she
- 23:13Speaker 1: could write so well preaking well, you gotta give I
- 23:17Speaker 1: love a good writer in this age of non writers,
- 23:21Speaker 1: do you guys know who the writers and the non
- 23:22Speaker 1: writers are? Okay, I'm gonna throw some names. This is
- 23:30Speaker 1: gonna get crazy, Okay, Drake, come on, break my heart writer, writer.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Some people are some people.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Have been debating whether he is writing his lyrics to some.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Of these cats, some of these some of them you know,
- 23:43Speaker 3: got sometimes they sometimes they got writers both.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Yeah, you've heard both.
- 23:48Speaker 2: But I kind of see it like like this, Like
- 23:51Speaker 2: if he got a group of people that he hanged with,
- 23:54Speaker 2: a producer he deal with every day, he probably writing
- 23:57Speaker 2: his raps and being dope with it, you know what
- 23:59Speaker 2: I mean. But if it's homeby that's like us, we
- 24:02Speaker 2: in the group, Craig can come in be like that
- 24:04Speaker 2: line could be stronger, you know what I'm saying.
- 24:06Speaker 4: So you do.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Have help besides yourself sometimes along the way. So but
- 24:11Speaker 2: I think for the majority of the part, all them songs,
- 24:16Speaker 2: he ain't write none of them or write mostly.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I mean, I definitely think he rollmost. I mean, I
- 24:20Speaker 1: think he's a great rapper. I hate his singing, but
- 24:23Speaker 1: you know.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I think I think had a lot of help.
- 24:25Speaker 5: Though.
- 24:25Speaker 3: You can't be in a situation like that and not.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Have still, I mean, yeah, especially the longer you get
- 24:31Speaker 1: in your career, does it get harder and harder to
- 24:34Speaker 1: keep it?
- 24:34Speaker 4: No?
- 24:35Speaker 3: No, it don't, you know, because if you love the craft,
- 24:37Speaker 3: you're gonna be able to come up with ideas and
- 24:39Speaker 3: keep the pedal to the middle. But that's not the knock,
- 24:42Speaker 3: like catching like you know, you're gonna have people that
- 24:45Speaker 3: present ideas. You know, you know you're gonna and even
- 24:48Speaker 3: as an artist, you're gonna want to welcome sometimes you know,
- 24:51Speaker 3: you know, different motherfuckers that if they got an idea
- 24:54Speaker 3: something for a record, let him, let him, let him shine.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah. I just want to point out that a lady
- 24:59Speaker 1: just added, is that mayonnaise or miracle with he added
- 25:03Speaker 1: mayonnaise to the ramen with the jalapenos, the chicken, and
- 25:09Speaker 1: he's adding mustard. I am highly getting nervous about his
- 25:13Speaker 1: ramen right now. Okay, okay, what do we call this ramen? Again?
- 25:16Speaker 1: What do we call this?
- 25:17Speaker 4: The way you love me in the morning?
- 25:19Speaker 1: That's hilarious? Okay, So okay, let's see who else can
- 25:25Speaker 1: I throw out that it's controversial? Well, you know, I've
- 25:27Speaker 1: already asked this question before, but I've gotten answer is Carti.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I love Cardi.
- 25:32Speaker 3: I think she writes a little bit of her stuff,
- 25:34Speaker 3: but I definitely think.
- 25:35Speaker 1: She Yes, she got a good writer.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Yeah, she got she got you know you know.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah. So there was this big thing on the internet
- 25:43Speaker 1: recently where I think most Steph said that Drake is
- 25:47Speaker 1: considered pop What do you what do you guys think
- 25:51Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you right now, I completely disagree. I
- 25:54Speaker 1: think the first rapper that ever went pop was fifty
- 25:56Speaker 1: cent And I stand here and I stand by it,
- 25:58Speaker 1: and I stamp it, and I hate it that he
- 26:00Speaker 1: hated on John Rule while being pop. He was like
- 26:03Speaker 1: a super hypocrite during that time. I'm not trying to.
- 26:06Speaker 5: I mean, like, you mean he has some he have
- 26:10Speaker 5: some pop records.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yeah, so do we.
- 26:13Speaker 5: It ain't to me. It's really not the artist's fault
- 26:16Speaker 5: when you cross over. We wasn't trying to cross over
- 26:19Speaker 5: when we made cross roads, but we crossed over. So
- 26:22Speaker 5: like sometimes the artists just get good music and it
- 26:24Speaker 5: takes them there, you know, and some people get mad
- 26:27Speaker 5: about it.
- 26:28Speaker 1: And I do. I like that answer too, because it's like,
- 26:31Speaker 1: at the end of the day, it's art, it's expression, right,
- 26:33Speaker 1: and you know, however it comes out is how it
- 26:36Speaker 1: comes out, you know.
- 26:38Speaker 3: And that's the thing about hip hop. See, hip hop
- 26:40Speaker 3: takes on all types of different fashions and everything. Just
- 26:45Speaker 3: just like I said, you know, you're gonna go at
- 26:47Speaker 3: some point some of us do crossover, but it's still
- 26:51Speaker 3: hip hop. But you got to recognize the fact that,
- 26:54Speaker 3: you know, show that love, Give them them flowers. The
- 26:56Speaker 3: ones that did make it that they they they they
- 26:59Speaker 3: they pre hell into that that that that pop arena.
- 27:04Speaker 3: You feel what I'm saying, the call they took, the culture,
- 27:06Speaker 3: the culture took in there. You feel what I'm saying. So,
- 27:09Speaker 3: but it's still it's still hip hop.
- 27:10Speaker 1: And that's what I think people want. People want to
- 27:14Speaker 1: hold hip hop hostage as this like gangster tough thing,
- 27:18Speaker 1: and you know, it never really I mean, if you
- 27:21Speaker 1: think about the origination of like Ello cool J, it
- 27:24Speaker 1: was never originally meant to be just this angry, you know,
- 27:28Speaker 1: stereotypical thing.
- 27:29Speaker 5: So, you know, I talk about hip hop is like
- 27:33Speaker 5: I understand that hip hop is just turning fifty years
- 27:35Speaker 5: old and human years that's old. But then like when
- 27:38Speaker 5: you were dealing with a genre that's not old at all,
- 27:41Speaker 5: hip hop is still very young and then mature. We
- 27:44Speaker 5: still don't even understand how to treat the legends yet,
- 27:48Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying, Like, so we need to
- 27:50Speaker 5: understand that different genres can coexist within one genre. People say,
- 27:57Speaker 5: you could have hip hop, you could have rap, you
- 28:00Speaker 5: can have conscious music, you can have gangster music. You
- 28:04Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, like whatever you do, it's all
- 28:08Speaker 5: going under the umbrella. Like hip hop birthed a lot
- 28:11Speaker 5: of things, Like it just didn't stay the same. It
- 28:14Speaker 5: shouldn't have no exactly, it birthed a lot of things.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I am just going back to what you said though
- 28:19Speaker 1: you said they don't know how to treat the legends.
- 28:24Speaker 6: Can you talk more on it.
- 28:27Speaker 5: It's just you know, takes spurts for instance. You know,
- 28:32Speaker 5: like or other genres, you never hear country artists disrespecting
- 28:41Speaker 5: the ones that paved the way for them. You never
- 28:43Speaker 5: hear rock and roll artists disrespecting the walls that paved
- 28:46Speaker 5: the way. R and B today you made because it's
- 28:50Speaker 5: a different kind of R and B going down. But
- 28:52Speaker 5: like you know, like you never hear that, Like so why,
- 28:55Speaker 5: like that's something that needs to stop because it's really immature.
- 29:00Speaker 5: It's really i mature if you think about it, Like,
- 29:02Speaker 5: because this world is big enough, this industry has grown,
- 29:05Speaker 5: it's big enough for everybody. Yep, it's a new artist.
- 29:09Speaker 5: I've never known they got a million followers every day,
- 29:11Speaker 5: But where does Nigga come from? But you know it's
- 29:13Speaker 5: big enough for that.
- 29:14Speaker 1: You feel that's an interesting that's an interesting take if
- 29:18Speaker 1: you think about it, because you don't hear other genres
- 29:20Speaker 1: attack each other never, never, never, Now do you think
- 29:25Speaker 1: in hip hop has started as a publicity stunt or
- 29:28Speaker 1: because I know you guys did all the guys that
- 29:30Speaker 1: were like beefing at some point? You had all of them?
- 29:34Speaker 5: Well, battling. Battling is fun, that's part of hip hop.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Yeah, that's part of.
- 29:40Speaker 5: Hip hop, you know what I'm saying. But like like
- 29:42Speaker 5: when it goes outside of my lyrics versus your lyrics.
- 29:48Speaker 3: You know, disrespectful life in the streets and just and
- 29:52Speaker 3: just like the respect some point like period, Like I've
- 29:55Speaker 3: heard some artists say things about Tupac that they didn't
- 29:58Speaker 3: even have to say, Like, Okay, if you don't if
- 30:01Speaker 3: you don't listen to Tupac, that's cool.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Why disrespect this man and he's dead? Yeah, you know
- 30:06Speaker 5: what I'm saying. Like, you know what I'm saying. So
- 30:08Speaker 5: if if you don't like him, if you don't like him,
- 30:10Speaker 5: that's cool. Like I don't like a lot of these
- 30:11Speaker 5: artists out right now, but I don't you don't hear
- 30:14Speaker 5: me on, but but you respect him because these like
- 30:21Speaker 5: these people is out here, you know, they feeding their families.
- 30:24Speaker 5: You know, they they they they could be doing way
- 30:27Speaker 5: way worse things than like doing what they doing, you know.
- 30:30Speaker 5: So so I don't never hate nobody. If you make it,
- 30:34Speaker 5: you made it for a reason.
- 30:36Speaker 1: What keeps you guys strong together for so long?
- 30:39Speaker 3: But the brotherhood, the relationships that we carried all these years,
- 30:44Speaker 3: you know, being uh, you know best friends were best
- 30:47Speaker 3: for you know, lazy and I wish the lazy my
- 30:50Speaker 3: little brother, wish my cousin Craig. You know, we've been
- 30:53Speaker 3: doing him since like seventh grade. And of course Busy
- 30:57Speaker 3: came into the fold. He was about maybe ten and
- 31:00Speaker 3: eleven years old, maybe twelve years old when we first
- 31:02Speaker 3: met Busy. So the brotherhood has been there for a
- 31:06Speaker 3: long time, more than half our lives.
- 31:08Speaker 1: And do you think that there's like I have a
- 31:11Speaker 1: girlfriends that i'm my best friends are all based in
- 31:13Speaker 1: New York. I'm from New York. Then there's like, I
- 31:15Speaker 1: feel like, what keeps our relationship so strong is that
- 31:19Speaker 1: there's an unspoken moral and ethics to the relationship where
- 31:22Speaker 1: it's like certain boundaries it's not spoken, but we just
- 31:25Speaker 1: don't cross them. Do you think that that level of
- 31:28Speaker 1: respect and integrity is what keeps your guys relationship strong.
- 31:32Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, But.
- 31:33Speaker 2: It's the respect for one another, the respect for what
- 31:36Speaker 2: we bring to the table, the love we have for God,
- 31:40Speaker 2: you know what I mean. Because we understand these these songs,
- 31:44Speaker 2: these these milestones, as you said, we understand these to
- 31:49Speaker 2: be blessings, you know, because we come from romy noodles,
- 31:53Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. We come from a place
- 31:56Speaker 2: where having things and being fortunate to have what you
- 32:01Speaker 2: not what you want, but what you need. Being fortunate
- 32:04Speaker 2: to have what you need. And we wasn't privted at
- 32:07Speaker 2: all the time. So if he can contribute anything to me,
- 32:11Speaker 2: it make me stronger, you know. And or he can
- 32:14Speaker 2: contribute anything to me, it's like the iron sharpened iron,
- 32:19Speaker 2: you know what I mean. And we understood that. We
- 32:21Speaker 2: always understood that we were stronger together. We knew we
- 32:24Speaker 2: was dope apart, but when we came together, the crowds
- 32:28Speaker 2: got bigger. We saw that when we came together, like
- 32:32Speaker 2: when we helped each other in the studio with the
- 32:35Speaker 2: method of writing, and you know what I'm saying, All that,
- 32:38Speaker 2: like those experiences is what is really what.
- 32:44Speaker 4: Kept our group together.
- 32:46Speaker 2: The struggle was real from the first from the jump,
- 32:49Speaker 2: I mean, and then we were family. On top of that,
- 32:52Speaker 2: we were the only ones we had to lean on.
- 32:54Speaker 2: So when it was time to go steal some Romen noodles,
- 32:57Speaker 2: I go get the cheese. He go get through roben noodles.
- 33:00Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You get the jalapenos, and
- 33:02Speaker 2: we just distrack the people in the store and we
- 33:05Speaker 2: get and we work as a team.
- 33:07Speaker 1: So sometimes you have great and I've learned this now
- 33:10Speaker 1: that I'm approaching almost forty guys. You know, I'm not
- 33:13Speaker 1: I'm at the biggest mouse on yet, but I've learned
- 33:16Speaker 1: that sometimes you have people that are great when you're down,
- 33:19Speaker 1: and then you have people that are great when you're up.
- 33:21Speaker 1: So when you guys were up, what were some of
- 33:23Speaker 1: the challenges you guys faced as a group.
- 33:27Speaker 5: I mean just just just being you know, people just
- 33:33Speaker 5: trying to pull us in different directions basically, you know,
- 33:36Speaker 5: like and you know, we had a lot of stuff
- 33:39Speaker 5: going on, Like once a solo album started and we
- 33:41Speaker 5: started having solo careerge it was it was hard to
- 33:44Speaker 5: pull us back together because you know, everybody was doing
- 33:46Speaker 5: something at the same time. But we always realized, you
- 33:50Speaker 5: know that we had to come back and make sure
- 33:52Speaker 5: the home base was cool, which was bold, and we
- 33:57Speaker 5: just always came back together like that always.
- 34:00Speaker 3: But it blew up on us so so big and
- 34:03Speaker 3: everything and whether we was ready for that type of
- 34:06Speaker 3: stardom of fame or not, it was something that took
- 34:12Speaker 3: us into a hole. We knew it was gonna happen
- 34:14Speaker 3: one way or the other, but it just took us
- 34:16Speaker 3: to a whole another stratosphere and everything that came with
- 34:20Speaker 3: the territory, and you know, had its ups and downs
- 34:23Speaker 3: and everything I even did, but went through my spell,
- 34:26Speaker 3: ended up going to the pen, came home, was able
- 34:28Speaker 3: to pick up the pieces to the puzzle all over again.
- 34:33Speaker 3: But the experience and all that it was that, you know,
- 34:36Speaker 3: and this is our thirtieth year, you know, we're celebrating
- 34:39Speaker 3: right now, thirty years of bone Thugs and harmony right now,
- 34:43Speaker 3: twenty twenty four. So we learned how to deal with
- 34:47Speaker 3: the snakes in the grass, the motherfuckers trying to divide
- 34:50Speaker 3: this and divide that, while still respecting and having support
- 34:54Speaker 3: for one another for what we're trying to do individually
- 34:58Speaker 3: and having and having right now, you know, we respect
- 35:02Speaker 3: and love each other enough, you know, to let each
- 35:05Speaker 3: one of us be the individuals we are and bring
- 35:08Speaker 3: in certain handle certain situations, and delegate certain situations, and
- 35:12Speaker 3: trust each other enough to do and you know, help
- 35:15Speaker 3: continue to build the brand no matter what it is.
- 35:18Speaker 1: And you guys are all individuals. So have you guys
- 35:21Speaker 1: learned to recognize how one person moves and go, oh,
- 35:24Speaker 1: that's how crazy moves, that's how lazy moves, that's how
- 35:26Speaker 1: flesh moves. Well, you know he gonna do this, you know,
- 35:29Speaker 1: And it's more of a love and acceptance versus aggravation.
- 35:34Speaker 2: I think we in the beginning it was aggravation because
- 35:37Speaker 2: we was together twenty four seven for about ten years straight,
- 35:41Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. And then it became, you know,
- 35:46Speaker 2: we start understanding each other individually and how we move,
- 35:50Speaker 2: like why his characteristic complement mind well, while you know
- 35:54Speaker 2: what I'm saying, So yeah, it was. It became a
- 35:57Speaker 2: respect thing because we went from teenagers moving a thousand
- 36:03Speaker 2: miles per hour with all these different changes, people whispering
- 36:06Speaker 2: in your ears telling you this and telling you that,
- 36:09Speaker 2: you know, we went through these things, but at the
- 36:12Speaker 2: same time, the respect was there, you know. So once
- 36:16Speaker 2: we got grown, start having kids and started seeing how
- 36:20Speaker 2: we moved differently from each other, and then we knew
- 36:22Speaker 2: how to respect you know, each other's moves.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Now, I know some of you guys are dropping solo albums.
- 36:31Speaker 1: When you guys dropped solo albums in the past, was
- 36:34Speaker 1: there any I feel like I'm really reaching. I don't
- 36:37Speaker 1: want to sound like I'm tearing you guys apart, but
- 36:39Speaker 1: I really when I think of relationships, they're so complex,
- 36:42Speaker 1: so I have to touch on these things. But is
- 36:45Speaker 1: there ever any rivalry going on when there's solo projects?
- 36:49Speaker 5: No?
- 36:49Speaker 3: I think we support each other. We've always supported each
- 36:52Speaker 3: other one in all of our endeavors. When it comes
- 36:55Speaker 3: to that, you know, you know, even though I was
- 36:58Speaker 3: the first one to kick it off with the solo
- 37:01Speaker 3: ventures and I had the support of my brothers, they featured,
- 37:04Speaker 3: We feature on each other. Yeah, you know, you know,
- 37:06Speaker 3: whenever the case may be, we present. You know, we
- 37:09Speaker 3: produce each other. We produce records for each other, We
- 37:11Speaker 3: produce it. You know, we give each other's concepts. So
- 37:14Speaker 3: when it comes to our individual tracks, hey, we're there.
- 37:19Speaker 3: We in each other's corner.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I'm just looking over it, lazy and he's fully, man,
- 37:28Speaker 1: I put too many. I saw you dicing them and
- 37:32Speaker 1: dicing them and dicing them.
- 37:33Speaker 3: You can't never put too many.
- 37:34Speaker 1: I'm just I don't like it how either, Craig. Craig,
- 37:40Speaker 1: why do you keep moving so far away from me
- 37:43Speaker 1: even in the shot?
- 37:44Speaker 5: You know what? This meal is?
- 37:46Speaker 3: Ready?
- 37:47Speaker 1: All right, let's certainly yeah, yeah, we're gonna judge it,
- 37:50Speaker 1: all right. His noodles look soft. Everybody he was, he
- 37:56Speaker 1: was literally like, I wish the camera. I hope the
- 37:59Speaker 1: camera call. How into your cooking you were? You look
- 38:03Speaker 1: like you in another life you wanted to be a chef.
- 38:07Speaker 4: In this life, I still want to be a chef.
- 38:10Speaker 4: You might just want to get searched around boat. Yeah,
- 38:15Speaker 4: take your eat the whole ball.
- 38:17Speaker 3: There's another boat.
- 38:18Speaker 5: Hilarious. Yes, you'll be eating. Nose be running.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Either, the nose be running. Yeah, Like I just taste tester,
- 38:31Speaker 3: because I'm usually you know.
- 38:33Speaker 1: What I think? Right here, let me get your spoon.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Let's see, all right, let's try it taste. I'm gonna
- 38:42Speaker 1: try and avoid the hollow penos because I'm like crazy,
- 38:44Speaker 1: I'm not trying to eat something hot.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Avoid its damn good bus down like good, all right.
- 38:56Speaker 5: You know what.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Good good spikes you though, my goodness, my goodness, you
- 39:03Speaker 1: can't even You're right, you're gonna even avoid the But
- 39:08Speaker 1: you know what, it's good the last person that made
- 39:12Speaker 1: Ramen on the show. I really enjoyed it and I'm
- 39:14Speaker 1: not gonna lie. The bust down makes it into the
- 39:16Speaker 1: Olympics of Roman. Yo, lazy, I'm thoroughly impressed.
- 39:22Speaker 5: We could have used.
- 39:25Speaker 2: With the sorry jeans, with the put a little little
- 39:29Speaker 2: olives on there, you know, but like I said, we.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Ain't have a.
- 39:33Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 39:36Speaker 1: You know what I think really makes it unique is
- 39:38Speaker 1: the cheese. Okay, but my goodness, if you would not
- 39:43Speaker 1: have put so many peppers. Me and Crazy but really
- 39:46Speaker 1: enjoyed this, right, like, don't you want to eat it?
- 39:49Speaker 1: But you're like, man, I know it's gonna hurt.
- 39:51Speaker 4: Well, y'all know for me, right.
- 39:54Speaker 1: You guys are hilarious. So let's talk upcoming projects.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Yes, right now, I have a solo EP out it's
- 40:04Speaker 3: called Living Legend out on all streaming platforms. Make sure
- 40:08Speaker 3: y'all go rock that. And they has an album out
- 40:13Speaker 3: called Hypnotic Rhythms that's on all streaming platforms. We just
- 40:19Speaker 3: we just leaked a brand new Bonn Thugs and Harmony
- 40:22Speaker 3: Harmony single to the radio today called all Shit. You know,
- 40:27Speaker 3: we're getting ready to go to the studio with Craig
- 40:30Speaker 3: to jump on.
- 40:31Speaker 5: You have a project that you have a project coming
- 40:35Speaker 5: out in April called Chasing the.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Devil, Chasing the Devil.
- 40:39Speaker 5: Chasing the Devil. Yeah, it's exactly a follow up to
- 40:42Speaker 5: what you did get a volume one. This is volume two.
- 40:46Speaker 5: Chasing the Devil is basically talking about how people literally
- 40:49Speaker 5: chasing the devil, but they but they don't even know it,
- 40:52Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. So, yeah, that's what's up.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I feel like the world we live in now, people
- 40:57Speaker 1: are chasing the devil, but they're almost proud of.
- 40:59Speaker 5: It, exactly talking.
- 41:00Speaker 1: About that, like they are literally like, yeah, I'm doing it,
- 41:03Speaker 1: and yes I know.
- 41:06Speaker 3: No shame.
- 41:07Speaker 5: So he may stream now these days.
- 41:09Speaker 1: So you guys, you guys hear about the Illuminati and
- 41:12Speaker 1: all that.
- 41:13Speaker 5: Yeah, but I don't. I don't really get caught up
- 41:16Speaker 5: in Illuminati because this is how I look at that real.
- 41:19Speaker 5: That's all I want to know is how to look
- 41:21Speaker 5: at it. I mean, if it was they invite no
- 41:23Speaker 5: niggas to it. Yeah, period. They ain't invite no black
- 41:27Speaker 5: folks to it. So all these people talking about this Illuminati,
- 41:30Speaker 5: and how come whenever black people get money they just
- 41:35Speaker 5: can't earn it? Why why does it have to be
- 41:37Speaker 5: tied to the Illuminati. We don't say all the you
- 41:39Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, all the other people that did
- 41:41Speaker 5: get rich, all the other colors, we don't throw them
- 41:44Speaker 5: to the Illuminati. We say, they are hard workers and
- 41:47Speaker 5: they work for their money. So why is it different
- 41:49Speaker 5: when we blow up and be real successful in what
- 41:53Speaker 5: we do, all of a sudden we worship the devil
- 41:56Speaker 5: and we joined the Illuminati. It's probably yeah.
- 42:01Speaker 3: And you know, you gotta understand that the most of
- 42:03Speaker 3: what you're seeing out there, cut the damn TV off man,
- 42:07Speaker 3: cut the damn news off, cut that ship off, cut
- 42:09Speaker 3: that ship off, and learn how to dial in, you know,
- 42:13Speaker 3: challenge yourself to put your goddamn phone down, you know,
- 42:16Speaker 3: for a while, and just sit there in silence for
- 42:18Speaker 3: maybe five minutes. But it's the propaganda out there, and
- 42:21Speaker 3: then come with one boogie man after the other, and
- 42:26Speaker 3: it's all and it's you know, and it's and it's
- 42:28Speaker 3: a mind war. It's an information war. It's like it's
- 42:31Speaker 3: it's it's it's information on it. It's a battle for
- 42:34Speaker 3: the mind, it's a battle for the heart. And yeah,
- 42:37Speaker 3: we know God is real. The devil is real too.
- 42:40Speaker 3: You gotta know how to balance yourself with respect to
- 42:42Speaker 3: what you gotta do. You're gonna succeed, but you're gonna
- 42:46Speaker 3: you're gonna put together a podcast. Well, are you gonna
- 42:49Speaker 3: put together that podcast or not? Are you gonna put
- 42:51Speaker 3: together do what you need to do for your family
- 42:53Speaker 3: or not? And you know, just because you make it
- 42:56Speaker 3: over the top like crazy, say that, don't got no
- 42:58Speaker 3: you know that whatever this illuminatih F to them, Man,
- 43:02Speaker 3: you got you make your own illuminati. We are own
- 43:05Speaker 3: illuminati because they trying to stop you from doing what
- 43:08Speaker 3: you gotta do.
- 43:09Speaker 1: What is something that someone wouldn't know about you guys
- 43:14Speaker 1: based on your music? Like what's a fun like something
- 43:17Speaker 1: like if like, what is something I don't would never
- 43:20Speaker 1: know about lazy h I mean besides that he's a
- 43:26Speaker 1: good cook. I want more, but you can put more
- 43:30Speaker 1: in my plate. It's so good. But yeah, what is
- 43:37Speaker 1: something that we don't know? We wouldn't know?
- 43:39Speaker 2: Well that I pray all day every day all through
- 43:44Speaker 2: the day, while I'm driving, while I'm in the shower.
- 43:48Speaker 4: People don't People don't understand about me.
- 43:52Speaker 2: You know that my main thing and my main purpose
- 43:56Speaker 2: in life is family, you know, because I'm I'm a
- 43:59Speaker 2: whole most of the time. So you might see me partying, greeting, holling,
- 44:04Speaker 2: clapping hands and all that, But really I take so
- 44:07Speaker 2: much time to myself to calculate them thoughts.
- 44:10Speaker 4: After I do all that, I.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Take my time sit back, analyze, and I spend a
- 44:16Speaker 2: lot of time in thought.
- 44:19Speaker 1: So I heard that they're different. What an introvert is
- 44:22Speaker 1: someone that can still go out and shake hands, but
- 44:24Speaker 1: after they shake hands with people, they kind of get draining.
- 44:27Speaker 1: They need that time alone. Would you say you're more
- 44:29Speaker 1: like that or is just maybe not? It's not an introvert.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Now, I'm not an introvert. I'm outgoing than a motherfucker.
- 44:37Speaker 2: But after that, I understand that I need to recollect
- 44:43Speaker 2: what I'm doing and where I'm going, you know. So
- 44:45Speaker 2: I take a lot of time. I plan, I plan everything,
- 44:49Speaker 2: you know what I mean. I think five six seven
- 44:51Speaker 2: years down. I've been thinking seven six years down the
- 44:54Speaker 2: road since I was seven to six six or seven years,
- 44:58Speaker 2: you know.
- 44:58Speaker 4: What I mean.
- 44:58Speaker 2: And I just and that's one thing I don't think
- 45:00Speaker 2: people would know about me because I'm in the mix.
- 45:04Speaker 2: M They probably don't know I'm a mastermind because I
- 45:08Speaker 2: think a lot.
- 45:09Speaker 1: I like that. What about you flesh?
- 45:11Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's it's a couple of things out there,
- 45:13Speaker 3: you know. I like to fish a little bit. I
- 45:16Speaker 3: like to you know, I like to gut and chop
- 45:18Speaker 3: the heads off the fish and gut them up and
- 45:21Speaker 3: everything and skin them and all that good stuff and everything.
- 45:24Speaker 3: And I've played lately, you know, probably taking up more
- 45:29Speaker 3: learning how to really really uh do the seed germination
- 45:34Speaker 3: with or without soil and german A seeds and you know,
- 45:39Speaker 3: growing uh growing pots and growing the raised beds of
- 45:43Speaker 3: uh veggies and stuff like that and everything. It's a
- 45:47Speaker 3: few things that flesh and ball that you know. And
- 45:51Speaker 3: that's that's the main thing. That that the the main
- 45:54Speaker 3: hobby that I done picked up that I done found myself,
- 45:57Speaker 3: you know, spending a lot of time with those plants,
- 46:11Speaker 3: you know, sitting around those plants, you know, just spitting
- 46:14Speaker 3: off all that good oxygen on me and everything. I
- 46:17Speaker 3: like the smell of the plants that I that that
- 46:19Speaker 3: I sat there in garden and be surrounded in my loove.
- 46:22Speaker 3: You know, you know, I can walk through like a
- 46:24Speaker 3: maze of just you know, you know, different types of plants.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Got the tomatoes over here, the cucumbers over here, you
- 46:30Speaker 3: got the cilantro right here, you got right here, you
- 46:33Speaker 3: got the you know, you know, and it's and and
- 46:36Speaker 3: you know, and I got a little you know, just
- 46:38Speaker 3: it's just it's just an amazing situation where it's asided
- 46:40Speaker 3: me that that most folks don't know about I.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Like, Dan, what about you? Crazy?
- 46:46Speaker 5: Uh man? Some if people don't know that I don't know.
- 46:51Speaker 1: You know, I'm gonna tell you right now. I'm a
- 46:53Speaker 1: point on one man. Your hair accessories are beyond divine,
- 46:58Speaker 1: like they are. Your hair game is crazy all thank you.
- 47:01Speaker 5: I mean, you know, I probably say I'm more of
- 47:05Speaker 5: the antrovercuse I don't want to be fucking people like that.
- 47:12Speaker 5: I got, you know, you know, I got like if
- 47:15Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying that if it ain't my family,
- 47:18Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying my brothers is like you
- 47:19Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, I got to really know a
- 47:21Speaker 5: person like you know what I'm saying, but you know what,
- 47:23Speaker 5: I'm in public. I do what I gotta do. But
- 47:25Speaker 5: I'm always being cool with the with the vack scene,
- 47:29Speaker 5: with planning it being in the back scene. I'm cool
- 47:31Speaker 5: with that for real.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Now, are you guys currently reading any books that you
- 47:37Speaker 1: think you would be willing to share with you know,
- 47:40Speaker 1: our audience to.
- 47:42Speaker 3: It all depends on it all depends on if you're
- 47:44Speaker 3: gonna get judgment or not learn how to you know?
- 47:47Speaker 3: You know, think you know, I will share a lot
- 47:49Speaker 3: of you know, a lot of stuff, but I think
- 47:51Speaker 3: I might, you know, just for the sake of holding on,
- 47:54Speaker 3: I'm gonna let them share some of the stuff. I
- 47:56Speaker 3: will share, but you know, you got to be a
- 47:58Speaker 3: little bit open minded, you know what I'm saying.
- 48:00Speaker 5: But I don't know.
- 48:02Speaker 3: I'll share some stuff that i'm reading.
- 48:05Speaker 4: What do you want to go first?
- 48:06Speaker 3: You go first.
- 48:07Speaker 2: So I like to introduce to like younger people to
- 48:12Speaker 2: I read a lot of inspirational books. You know what
- 48:14Speaker 2: I'm saying. It's a book by James Allen called So
- 48:18Speaker 2: as a Man, think of you know, book about this
- 48:22Speaker 2: thick not too big. I pass it off to my
- 48:25Speaker 2: children and people when I see that they need, they
- 48:28Speaker 2: need guidance. I give them this book and it's by
- 48:31Speaker 2: James Allen, and it's really about the things you put
- 48:36Speaker 2: forth in life is the things you get back. Basic,
- 48:39Speaker 2: basic stuff, but put in a way that any man
- 48:44Speaker 2: can understand, any woman can understand. And it's inspiring, you
- 48:48Speaker 2: know what I mean. I read a lot of autobiographies,
- 48:51Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. Like, I read books like
- 48:55Speaker 2: Nike to just do It that book, you know what
- 48:57Speaker 2: I mean. I like the stories of a man.
- 49:00Speaker 4: That reached greatness.
- 49:03Speaker 2: So I you know, so I can try to follow
- 49:06Speaker 2: in some of the footsteps, you know. So I'm more
- 49:08Speaker 2: of an inspirational book reader a Bible reader.
- 49:12Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. And that's what I do.
- 49:14Speaker 4: I stay.
- 49:15Speaker 2: I stay on the inspirational side. When it comes to books. No,
- 49:18Speaker 2: not no fiction or none of that.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I'm the same. I've always avoided fiction since I was
- 49:25Speaker 1: a little little kid. I just never got into space.
- 49:29Speaker 5: Yeah, always for the movies. No, but yeah. Really, like
- 49:33Speaker 5: one book I'm reading now is most of the books
- 49:35Speaker 5: I read is like uh, spiritual books. I'm reading the
- 49:38Speaker 5: book now it's called a revelation. Is it's grand climax
- 49:43Speaker 5: at head basically a book that that breaks down the
- 49:46Speaker 5: Book of Revelation.
- 49:48Speaker 1: That's a hard book to break down.
- 49:50Speaker 5: Oh no, but when you read this book, you totally
- 49:52Speaker 5: have the understanding of it. Likely.
- 49:55Speaker 1: What's the name of the book again.
- 49:56Speaker 5: It's called Revelation. It's Grand Climax at Head.
- 50:00Speaker 1: Okay, Now when you read that book, do you think
- 50:02Speaker 1: we're at the end of times?
- 50:04Speaker 5: Okay? I was.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I was gonna say, because the first time I read Revelation,
- 50:10Speaker 1: I mean I took the Bible on, I read the
- 50:12Speaker 1: whole Bible. Revelation is the one book that I definitely
- 50:15Speaker 1: one hundred percent was like, you know what, I don't
- 50:18Speaker 1: think it was almost like listening to jay Z, Like
- 50:21Speaker 1: I feel like there were certain j Z records that
- 50:22Speaker 1: I couldn't comprehend at the time, and Revelation was one
- 50:26Speaker 1: of those books. Like at the time, it just was
- 50:28Speaker 1: so much that I was like, you know what, I
- 50:29Speaker 1: don't think I can understand. Maybe if I go back now.
- 50:33Speaker 5: Oh yeah, definitely. Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Well, you know it's some of the similarities things things
- 50:38Speaker 2: that go on, Like if you look at the news
- 50:40Speaker 2: and read Revelations, you'd be like, this is is really happening?
- 50:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 50:45Speaker 5: So, you know, they say the revolution was being televibed,
- 50:49Speaker 5: the Revelation is being tele straight up.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Wow, real, what about you flush? You're gonna give it up?
- 50:57Speaker 3: Well, you know, you know, I've been you know. I
- 50:59Speaker 3: don't know if y'all ever heard of Alex Jones though,
- 51:02Speaker 3: but he's like one of the from Dave David Ike
- 51:04Speaker 3: to Alex Jones. He has a couple of books out there,
- 51:08Speaker 3: and one of them is called one of them is
- 51:10Speaker 3: called the you know, the Greater, the Great Reset, you know,
- 51:13Speaker 3: the Great Awakening, you know, and you know, it's it's
- 51:17Speaker 3: a real eye opener, you know when it comes to
- 51:20Speaker 3: certain things that's going on in the world today, in
- 51:23Speaker 3: the country today, the Great Reset, as far as what's
- 51:25Speaker 3: been going on in the world, what they're trying to do,
- 51:27Speaker 3: as far as setting up a new system, you know,
- 51:30Speaker 3: and uh that which Revelation talks about. I've been real
- 51:33Speaker 3: heavy into the Bible and the Revelation portion of the
- 51:36Speaker 3: Bible to be exact, and and uh and there's another author. Uh,
- 51:44Speaker 3: there's another author by the name of Mark Levin, and
- 51:48Speaker 3: he wrote a book called and uh it's a real contrary.
- 51:51Speaker 3: It's not that controversial, but I'm just spit it out there.
- 51:53Speaker 3: It's called the Democrat Party Hates America, and uh he
- 51:57Speaker 3: wrote other books that, uh, you know, I'm pretty much
- 52:01Speaker 3: a big fan of this man because he's a he's
- 52:04Speaker 3: a constitutional attorney that breaks down the constitution and the
- 52:09Speaker 3: real real he'll put it in a very education on
- 52:12Speaker 3: why you get a lot of education. If you never
- 52:15Speaker 3: heard of him, go look him up. His name is
- 52:17Speaker 3: Mark Levin. He's and I believe he's one of the
- 52:20Speaker 3: scholars of big scholars of our time. He wrote books
- 52:24Speaker 3: like called The Men in Black and it's quite a
- 52:31Speaker 3: few I got. I got all of his books. But uh,
- 52:34Speaker 3: he's just breaking it down how you know how pretty
- 52:38Speaker 3: much is this a lot of influence going on as
- 52:41Speaker 3: far as with respects to you know how a lot
- 52:45Speaker 3: of these parties is even no matter if some of
- 52:48Speaker 3: these party h officials or are communists, actual Marxist communists
- 52:55Speaker 3: dressed up under the banner of a Democrat or Republican
- 52:58Speaker 3: but in reality are communists. So I wanted to, you know,
- 53:02Speaker 3: and it's it's a whole information that's why it's like,
- 53:05Speaker 3: you know, it's uh, it's a famous website out there
- 53:08Speaker 3: called info wars and you know, and that's one of
- 53:11Speaker 3: the things that I've been real heavy into because it's
- 53:14Speaker 3: real eye openers. They go all across the spectrum and
- 53:19Speaker 3: uh and uh and uh, and it kind of like
- 53:21Speaker 3: gives you what you need, you know, how to protect
- 53:23Speaker 3: yourself against you know, being shut down by a hateful
- 53:29Speaker 3: Marxist communists. If you look into history and look at
- 53:32Speaker 3: look at the history of communism, and this is explaining
- 53:36Speaker 3: how you know pretty much how you know the government
- 53:40Speaker 3: is corrupt and hijacked by these communists.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Yeah. So not trying to segue, but I do want
- 53:46Speaker 1: to know what you guys are doing in Cleveland.
- 53:49Speaker 5: Oh yeah, man, we're trying to do a lot, like
- 53:51Speaker 5: a lot of things, you know, for our community, like
- 53:53Speaker 5: where we grew up at, you know, trying to work
- 53:57Speaker 5: on this project to help revitalize like where we come from.
- 54:00Speaker 5: We want to put a bone throws, a harmony museum there.
- 54:04Speaker 5: You know, we want to like just like help the community,
- 54:07Speaker 5: y'all like it anyway, we can't go to call it
- 54:09Speaker 5: the Harmony district, oh know. So when people come to Cleveland,
- 54:12Speaker 5: it's gonna be a entertainment district. So when people come
- 54:14Speaker 5: to Cleveland. They're not just saying they want to go downtown.
- 54:17Speaker 5: They're talking about I want to go to the Harmony district.
- 54:19Speaker 5: See what they got going. You know it's gonna be establishments.
- 54:24Speaker 5: This featured their features both to us a homony like
- 54:27Speaker 5: we gonna have a restaurant at Harmony Cafe. I like that.
- 54:31Speaker 5: In the museum like a yeah, museum, you know what
- 54:33Speaker 5: I'm saying. Get a museum right on the corner of
- 54:35Speaker 5: Army nine, your Knife and Saint Clair. You know, if
- 54:37Speaker 5: everything works out. So that's something we're working very closely
- 54:40Speaker 5: with the city.
- 54:42Speaker 1: And then what else can we expect from you guys
- 54:43Speaker 1: in twenty twenty four and beyond books.
- 54:46Speaker 3: We definitely working on the memoirs. They got a poetry
- 54:49Speaker 3: book that he's working on. I've been I'm working on
- 54:52Speaker 3: a memoir that I'm in the middle of. It is real,
- 54:54Speaker 3: just getting real good. And so we're getting that. We
- 54:58Speaker 3: got got talks with a couple of big time producers
- 55:01Speaker 3: that's showing interest in the Bone Dug film. We don't
- 55:04Speaker 3: know if it's gonna be a biopic I love that
- 55:06Speaker 3: or some type of docu series sort of like How
- 55:09Speaker 3: Wu Tang Did. This is when you got season one, two, three,
- 55:12Speaker 3: four five or whatnot, because the Bone Duck story is
- 55:14Speaker 3: so extensive, it's gonna be hard to impossible to squeeze
- 55:18Speaker 3: the Bone Duck story in a two to three hour movie.
- 55:21Speaker 3: Maybe two, three seasons, four five seasons.
- 55:24Speaker 2: And we also, you know, we got a podcast as
- 55:29Speaker 2: a group that we're doing.
- 55:30Speaker 4: You know, Crazy Boone came up with the idea.
- 55:33Speaker 2: It's called Thug Stories, you know, So we're working on
- 55:36Speaker 2: that individual music harmony, house entertainment.
- 55:41Speaker 4: You know, I work with all of our kids.
- 55:43Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I work with my kids.
- 55:45Speaker 2: I work with all of our kids because they came
- 55:48Speaker 2: together as they grew up and they do things together. So,
- 55:51Speaker 2: you know, just really capitalizing on everything entertainment, you know, entertainment, educational,
- 55:58Speaker 2: you know, just just just giving back to where we
- 56:01Speaker 2: came from and just making an impact on what we're
- 56:06Speaker 2: doing it besides just selling millions of records. So now
- 56:10Speaker 2: we're moving into the realm of our give back, you
- 56:14Speaker 2: know what I mean.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Yeah, your legacy impact and giving back. Yes, my final
- 56:20Speaker 1: final question lazy. When it comes to this music industry,
- 56:24Speaker 1: is there some seeding that the world is not privy too,
- 56:29Speaker 1: that's behind the scenes that you could share with us.
- 56:33Speaker 1: That was a hard nugget for you to swallow. Per se.
- 56:38Speaker 2: I mean just the music, the music industry period, you know,
- 56:42Speaker 2: the way, the way that they misappropriated our contracts, you
- 56:51Speaker 2: know what I mean, the robbery and the thievery that
- 56:54Speaker 2: went on, you know, always me myself Like today, I
- 56:57Speaker 2: think the Internet is so important because we got we
- 57:00Speaker 2: with our fan base, we can be independent without giving
- 57:04Speaker 2: eighty percent or ninety or seventy eight percent, you know,
- 57:09Speaker 2: the bulk of our earnings for our creations to somebody
- 57:13Speaker 2: else to handle, you know. So the industry was built
- 57:17Speaker 2: to keep the artists blind, you know what I mean. Especially,
- 57:21Speaker 2: that's why they play on the young to the age,
- 57:24Speaker 2: the age variable because you know, if you're a young artist,
- 57:28Speaker 2: they can dangle to carrot in front of your face,
- 57:31Speaker 2: and when you have nothing, it's easy to go for
- 57:33Speaker 2: that care. But as an adult, you know what I mean,
- 57:37Speaker 2: the more knowledge you have, you don't fall for those tricks.
- 57:40Speaker 2: So they put an age stipulation on you. All you
- 57:43Speaker 2: got to be this age. But killer might just prove
- 57:46Speaker 2: you don't have to be a certain age, you know.
- 57:49Speaker 2: Adele she proved you know what I mean. So it's
- 57:52Speaker 2: these different tricks that they played to rob us, blind us,
- 57:56Speaker 2: keep us ignorant to the fact on the contracts. And
- 58:00Speaker 2: that's what I that's what I disliked about the industry.
- 58:04Speaker 4: So we had it, We really had it rough.
- 58:07Speaker 2: Coming up because we learned through. We learned through our
- 58:10Speaker 2: own mistakes signing wrong contracts. So we had to get
- 58:14Speaker 2: educated ourselves. And now you know, now these days you
- 58:20Speaker 2: got the it's more you have more leeway to handle that,
- 58:24Speaker 2: you have more control over your career. So the industry
- 58:27Speaker 2: for me, the recording industry is now podcasts and you
- 58:33Speaker 2: on these different.
- 58:34Speaker 3: Social media like it's at the press of a button
- 58:36Speaker 3: you can reach your fan base versus now crazy.
- 58:42Speaker 1: My question to you would be, now, coming off of
- 58:45Speaker 1: what Lazy was saying, would you say you feel at
- 58:50Speaker 1: times it could be harder to market because now you've
- 58:53Speaker 1: you've gone through all the genres of how music is
- 58:56Speaker 1: marketed and distributed and bought and sold, and you've seen
- 58:59Speaker 1: the rector label side, but now you're entering the new
- 59:01Speaker 1: world of the digital side with social media and and
- 59:04Speaker 1: what contracts to like numbers that are impressive or what
- 59:09Speaker 1: have you, what would you say is the pro and
- 59:12Speaker 1: the con of dealing with music in this new age?
- 59:15Speaker 1: Going independent?
- 59:17Speaker 5: I mean, you know, I mean kind of like what
- 59:22Speaker 5: he said, you know, like it's they're trying to paint
- 59:25Speaker 5: this picture that you know, like we're washed up, We
- 59:28Speaker 5: just all of a sudden forgot how to make good music,
- 59:33Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying. And that's how they treat us.
- 59:34Speaker 5: You know I'm saying just because he said, because we older,
- 59:36Speaker 5: and they don't want to have those conversations with us
- 59:40Speaker 5: about business because they know we know what we're talking
- 59:42Speaker 5: about now.
- 59:43Speaker 1: But now going independent, do you feel more liberated or
- 59:46Speaker 1: do you feel more pressure going independent?
- 59:49Speaker 5: No? Definitely feel more liberated because you know, like it's
- 59:52Speaker 5: like again, we understand the business, we understand what we
- 59:56Speaker 5: need to do to go around and you know what
- 59:59Speaker 5: I'm saying, I just got to offer from a record label,
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying, actually put my album out,
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: and what they're offering I'm already doing.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: So like why do you need them? Yeah?
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: Why would I give you my album when I'm already
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: doing that, you know what I'm saying. So, oh yeah, No,
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: it's definitely liberating, especially when you have the fan base
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: that we have from all the work we put in.
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: It's very easy for us to maneuver around this system
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: now because you know, like once we bring our fans
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: to the internet, we have them at our grass now.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: So now when you guys collectively as a group are together,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: would you say you you make more I had to
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: talk financials, more money on the on the publishing side,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: or the tours and the shows or the actual record sales.
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: I will say we make more money period.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: Yeah, because now we own all the back Yeah.
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: The money comes straight to you when you're doing the shows,
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: versus how it did first it has to go through
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: the record company. All the money goes to the record
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: company first. Today we are the record company.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: But do you guys own all your publishing and everything.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: Publish it and we're soon to own our masters, you know.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: And that's another thing about the record company. We gave something,
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: we created, we got to fight thirty years later to
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: get control of you know what I mean. But once
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: those things revert back to us. Now we're independent. We
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: re release our music, we license our music, our publishing
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: belongs to us, you know what I'm saying. So, but
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: that not in the beginning. In the beginning, it wasn't
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: like that.
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: Now, what does it take to own your masters apart
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: from owning your publishing? Well, I know we're going over
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Oh we really only got a couple of minutes.
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: When you know, you either, depending on what type of
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: deal you got, either own a portion of the masters
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: because the record company always going to own other portions
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: of it. But you do what it's called reversion letters
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: to where you let the copyright office know and the
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: company know that, Hey, this letter is to let y'all
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: know that we understand that time is up on those
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: masters over here. We wan't full control of it, bast
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: So you write your reversion letter to put it in
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: there to get those and it takes about it. Unfortunately,
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: it takes thirty years. And then and then there's another
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: downside of the industry that you gotta wait so damn
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: long to get those rights back. But some of us
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: are you know, able to you know, have the access
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: to get that done. And now you know it's just
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: a ticking time clock right now.
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: But uh, you let me sum it up.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: Your publishing is the producers and the writers, the actual
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: creators of the content. Yeah, the other side your royalties
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: and things like that is off your sales, you know
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: what I'm saying.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: So then what's the masters then yep, and that's the.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Musical masters, the music in general, your masters is everything together,
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So when you own that,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: you have ConTroll of your publishing, You have control of
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: what you price your stuff for record sales, and.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: The overall not to cut you off though, but just
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: the overall rights of the song. When you have the
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: song that who owns the rights to the song? The
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: light that it's to have the ability to license into
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: this movie, this other page. Just keep over there sample education.
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: Who do you have to who do you have to
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: answer to? If somebody wants to use that?
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: And you guys are almost there.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: I got a few couple more years yet. But the letter,
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: the letters, But the letters have been sent and it's
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: it's yeah. So so we just got this just the
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: waiting waiting phase right now.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Awesome. Well, I just want to thank you guys for
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: taking time out of your hectic schedule dealing with Mike
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Toddler being super nice. So I want to I like
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: talking about behind the scenes because you never know how
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: people are, you know, when the camera's not rolling, So
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: I just want to tell you guys what they're like
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: when the camera's not rolling. They're really cool. They're really
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: nice then and uh and very humble and lazy is
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: a good cook. So thank you guys so much for
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: giving me this iconic moment. I will never forget this.

- 1:05:35Speaker 7: Secret ingredient all right, listen up, y'all. The secret ingredient
- 1:05:39Speaker 7: that kept this legendary group bone Thugs in Harmony pushing
- 1:05:43Speaker 7: forward over three decades is tenacity. This iconic group of
- 1:05:47Speaker 7: young men face some serious obstacles on their paths to success,
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: their mental and moral strength to resist opposition never faltered.
- 1:05:54Speaker 7: Five young teens got on a bus from Cleveland, Ohio,
- 1:05:58Speaker 7: to Los Angeles with one mission in getting easy to
- 1:06:01Speaker 7: see their rap skills. When they first arrived in LA,
- 1:06:05Speaker 7: they were dead broke, sleeping on floors and scraping by
- 1:06:08Speaker 7: on Ramen noodles, But they refused to give up on
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: their dreams. Instead, they kept calling easy EA's office every
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: single day until they finally got them on the line. Well,
- 1:06:17Speaker 7: the tenacity paid off when EASYE signed them to his
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: Rootless Records label. From there, these young men secured iconic
- 1:06:25Speaker 7: collaborations with Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Big Pond, and Biggie Small's,
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: going on to being one of the biggest hip hop
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: groups of all time, selling over fifty million records. Through
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: it all, their tenacious spirit kept them pushing forward, perfecting
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: their craft and refusing to take no for an answer.
- 1:06:45Speaker 7: That tenacity is what opened so many doors for Bone
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: Thugs over the years. While other artists are cool, resting
- 1:06:51Speaker 7: on their laurels, this group is constantly reinventing, reaching out
- 1:06:55Speaker 7: for that next level, whether it's breaking down bears in
- 1:06:59Speaker 7: the studio, killing shit on the road, or using their
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: platform to uplift their community. Their drive and determination is
- 1:07:05Speaker 7: the fire that keeps them going. So take note, fam
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: When tenacity is your secret ingredient, you slide on every
- 1:07:13Speaker 7: opportunity and out maneuver any adversary, and when it's showtime,
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: you rock the house. That's the Bone Thugs blueprint and
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: it's the ingredient we all need in our life. Kitchen,
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: I'm calling wit and you just had a taste of
