- 0:00SPEAKER_03: Oh with a fever of 101, this is my flu game.
- 0:25SPEAKER_03: Let me tell you.
- 0:25SPEAKER_03: Like Michael Jordan has nothing on having to do a mock draft live over here with everybody listening.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: And but of course, this is Nader, and this is the Fantasy Football Space Podcast alongside Tip and Nico.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: Man, how you guys doing over there?
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: Better than you, bro.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: Make sure you wipe your mic and everything and all every like wipe it all, dude.
- 0:46SPEAKER_03: I'm just I'm just sorry about that one.
- 0:48SPEAKER_03: Nico, how about yourself?
- 0:49SPEAKER_05: I'm good, man.
- 0:50SPEAKER_05: I'm good.
- 0:51SPEAKER_05: Uh sorry to hear uh a little under the weather, but I mean, this is when legacies are made, and this is when uh um you know people uh make their mark, and here you are mocking with a little bit of a fever, but hey, you're here, that's how much you care about the people.
- 1:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sometimes you have to break the fever, but in this case, we're gonna be breaking the draft.
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: Also, we have Kelly alongside with us.
- 1:12SPEAKER_03: You would you like to say hi?
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Hey, I'm normally back there behind the scenes making a mess of everything.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: So happy to be here.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: And of course, we're gonna be doing a mock draft today, but first we got a special guest alongside with us.
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: We got the legendary John Daigle.
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: Man, let's add him to the stage.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: And man, how are you doing over there?
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Doing wonderful, just that time of the year where news is coming in, always something to write, talk about shows, uh, be a guest on shows on Grateful 4 as well.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: So happy to be here this evening with y'all.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: Oh John, you know, we we met a we met a couple years ago at the Fantasy Football Expo, and immediately I was just like, there's two of my favorite bald bearded guys out there.
- 2:01SPEAKER_02: You're one of them, and Debro is the other.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: And it's like you guys just bring so much passion, so much just love for the game of football, and and you're able to articulate it so well, man.
- 2:13SPEAKER_02: I just want to know like what are some things that you're doing that established the run this year that people should be looking out for.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: And um, yeah, man, I'm just super excited to have you on.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: I think a really good example, I appreciate the kind words, first of all, tip by the way, you're a friend.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: So uh we are acting professional here, but behind the scenes, you know we are boys.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: Uh, but beyond that, it's not just because the it's the most recent example, but if everyone wants to go to the establish the run free podcast and YouTube feed, I actually just sat down with Adam Levitan and Evan Silva yesterday to go over running back strategy.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: So not only the micro takes on individual players, but how we're handling each spot in drafts.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Because I think there are, although I can't paint the puzzle pieces for you necessarily, I can tell you how to fit them together and then subjectively let you go build the puzzle that way.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: Because there are two or three forks in the road at every pick, and when you then just have to decide on the comeback, uh dictating how you draft based on what your league leaves for you.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: And so we go through that with the running back position, and I think that's a great starting spot for everyone who just wants to tune into the established the run content.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's some great content out there.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: Please look at it.
- 3:30SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: Usually establishing the running back scenario is probably the most important part when developing a fantasy team, but right now we got a lot of news specifically on the running backs in the news and notes.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Third time's a charm.
- 4:01SPEAKER_05: Ladies and gentlemen, we have uh quite a bit of news this week, but we're gonna keep it short and brief so we can get to mocking.
- 4:07SPEAKER_05: Um Mekka Gbuka uh suffered a toe injury, uh possible turf toe.
- 4:12SPEAKER_05: They're currently calling it a toe sprain for now.
- 4:15SPEAKER_05: Keenan Allen signs with the Indianapolis Colts.
- 4:19SPEAKER_05: Jaden Higgins, RIP, tears his ACL uh in practice today.
- 4:24SPEAKER_05: Uh Tyler Warren leaves practice with a groin injury.
- 4:28SPEAKER_05: Um, that groin injury continues to just rear its ugly head, and a lot of people are dealing with that.
- 4:34SPEAKER_05: Um Alvin Kamara to be sidelined for at least a month uh with a knee injury.
- 4:39SPEAKER_05: Jeremiah Love, uh Kelly's guy, high ankle sprain, uh, won't need surgery, but week one is currently in question.
- 4:47SPEAKER_05: Brees Hall set to miss time.
- 4:50SPEAKER_05: Poor Kelly.
- 4:51SPEAKER_05: Uh Brees Hall set to miss time with a groin injury.
- 4:54SPEAKER_05: Uh, they're estimating two to three weeks.
- 4:57SPEAKER_05: Uh Jordan Tyson, uh rookie receiver out of Arizona State.
- 5:01SPEAKER_05: Uh, he's gonna be out at least two months uh with a hammy injury.
- 5:05SPEAKER_05: And Najee Harris signed with the Giants, probably because Tyrone Tracy can't block and pass pro.
- 5:12SPEAKER_05: And Von Miller signs with the Cowboys.
- 5:15SPEAKER_05: Short and sweet today, ladies and gentlemen.
- 5:18SPEAKER_05: Guys, gals, what do you think?
- 5:20SPEAKER_05: What's one quick thought?
- 5:22SPEAKER_05: And then let's jump into a mock.
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, John, go for it.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I I'm not at a point yet where I'm concerned about a Mecca Gbuka.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Now, can that change in the next week?
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: Certainly, especially after Todd Bowles has been really broad about his timelines with his players.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: This includes Bucky Irving, who I was convinced was AI midseason.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: I was not believing he was ever coming back until we actually saw him on the field.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: He did.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: He returned in week 13 as an extremely inefficient uh running back by committee.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Having said that, Buka's still a player that when everyone asked me, because this is the time of the year everyone asks the same questions, like who's your favorite sleeper, you know, in the wide receiver three, four range in that in those rounds.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: And my answer still to this point is a Meka Buka in that great wall of wide receivers who I want a lot of them, don't get me wrong, but a Buka's just a guy that already flashed his ceiling through his first five starts last year, uh, six and yards per route run and was the wide receiver three with 20 and a half fantasy points per game.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: From that point forward, we all know the story.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Not only did Abuka get injured, but Baker Mayfield, who didn't miss a game, was playing through multiple injuries and just all really caught up with both of them towards the end of the year after the team's bye.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: But when a player shows us, flashes us that ceiling, that's what I want to chase for the full year, especially since we are now taking off Mike Evans from the field entirely.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: So uh Buka to me is is the the definition of a league winner, checks all the boxes as a you know, second year explosive receiver and a very good offense with a better schedule.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: So I'm not worried just yet.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: Man, you know, toe injuries they set Patrick Willis back his whole career, uh Purdy Burrow all last year.
- 7:09SPEAKER_03: I shifted him in the do not draft section, but uh that's me being cautious.
- 7:15SPEAKER_03: Kelly, what do you got about love?
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: I uh, you know, they came out and kept everything kind of secretive.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: It's just a sore ankle, sore ankle.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: But it's not just a sore ankle.
- 7:28SPEAKER_03: You know what's crazy is they give Jeremiah love, what was it, 15 touches in a preseason game?
- 7:34SPEAKER_03: 15 touches.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: I think it's actually a good thing.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I agree exactly with what LaFleur was saying that they need these reps.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: That's what the preseason is for.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: Why are we gonna just save them up for week one, throw them out there to the wolves?
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: Let these guys touch the ball, let them play.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Um, so I don't think they did anything wrong as coaching staff.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Obviously, I'm not a coach, I've never been a player, but as a fan, I think it sounded smart and high ankle sprain, Mahomes has had high ankle sprains, he's back out there.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: We're gonna be fine.
- 8:11SPEAKER_05: Man, everything's fine in Cardinal Nations.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: It is, and you know what?
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: Even if it's not fine, we've got Bam Knight, who actually I must be the only fan of in the whole world thinking Trey Benson's going to the practice squad and we're keeping Bam Knight.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: That's terrible.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: I mean, with all the injuries, you would think there's a lot of uh electrical substations around the stadium and the packing sphere that's going on.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: I mean, we do have a power plant.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: See, see, I'm telling you, like you know, you could try to call it a conspiracy or anything, and but I'm a king conspiracy theorist, so you know what?
- 8:42SPEAKER_03: I'm all about it.
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: But of course, the majority of the show is going to be the mock draft, and of course, I don't want this to be a three-hour show, so we're gonna hop right into it.
- 8:51SPEAKER_03: And the mock draft is gonna be simple half-point PPR, 12 rounds, I believe it is, 10 people.
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: Let's go right into it and into the mock.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: Mock draft.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay, that we're gonna mock your role.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: I like it.
- 9:17SPEAKER_02: I like that.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: All right, we're gonna put at the king angle on first.
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: So he has the first pick.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: So he said he was gonna take a Raiders uh defense.
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: So oh, he takes Jamar Gibbs.
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: Loser.
- 9:29SPEAKER_03: Okay, so you know, I gotta give that one a laugh emote, and uh, I'm gonna make this quick.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: If you don't take B.
- 9:35SPEAKER_03: John Robinson, I will.
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: I almost debated Jamar Chase, but it's at my position, if you don't take a running back, you're losing out on any elite RB, so you're forced to take one in this position.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, and I click this.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: There we go.
- 9:50SPEAKER_05: Now, honestly, you're fine.
- 9:52SPEAKER_05: You'd probably be auto.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Now, Daigle, I got I got a question for you.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: I got a question for you, Daigle.
- 9:58SPEAKER_02: What if you can get the first pick?
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: What pick are you?
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: You these were random picks, but what pick are you trying to get if you have the choice?
- 10:04SPEAKER_02: What what pick are you getting?
- 10:06SPEAKER_01: I think first, second, or the end are the best spots this year.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: Whereas last year, uh even the first round ADP was extremely accurate.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: The most accurate, I last year I was saying at this at that time, too, that I had ever seen it uh in the last at least decade of fantasy football.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: But this year, I believe from the 105 on, it is wide open and a much flatter tier as opposed to last season, which is why I was forced to nitpick on you off, but you got 15 seconds.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 10:37SPEAKER_05: Just making sure you knew.
- 10:38SPEAKER_05: Just making sure you knew.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: I like to get to um, you're good.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: I like to get to uh uh actually, I'm gonna do this.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: I like to get to points where I'm talking to where I can stop my brain, take a breath, then click, and then come back.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Um, last last year, yeah.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: First round, I thought it was the most accurate in ADP in the last decade, which is why I was forced to naturally nitpick Saquon Barkley and draft.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: It seems you know easy to say this in hindsight, but I was saying last year during shows uh during the offseason at this time, draft Christian McCaffrey and B.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: John Robinson over Saquon Barkley since we had to split hairs in that tight first round.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: That's not the case this year.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: So usually I am if Jamar Chase or Puka is not there, because I believe those two should be in the first four picks with Gibbs and Bijan Robinson, doesn't happen here.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: That's okay.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: But once those are off the board, then I do suggest everyone draft one of Christian McCaffrey, Jonathan Taylor, or James Cook, just because even in a 10-team league, there is a massive teardrop when it comes back.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: If Derrick Henry and Devon A.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: Chan are gone.
- 11:40SPEAKER_01: And they usually are.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: Maybe they're not, and you get a second running back that way.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: That's why the end is so advantageous this year.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: But for most people, I say get your running back one when you can.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, I can go into that in a little bit further as y'all get more analysis in.
- 11:57SPEAKER_05: Well, that wraps up the first round.
- 11:59SPEAKER_05: Uh, we had Gibbs, Robinson to Nadder.
- 12:02SPEAKER_05: We had Jamar Chase, Amon Ra, Puka, Genty to Kelly.
- 12:07SPEAKER_05: Whoa.
- 12:07SPEAKER_05: Tip, were you mad about that one?
- 12:10SPEAKER_02: No, I was actually gonna ask Kelly about that one because I I'm starting to see Ashton Gente go up in drafts, and I you know, I love it.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: I, you know, um, I was on the show last night with Bob Harris and um Mike Dempsey, and they were talking about Jeff Manns took Ashton Gente as his second overall pick, and I don't hate it.
- 12:30SPEAKER_02: Um, I think this game's gonna be in line for a ton of volume.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: The offense is gonna be better.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: The offensive line, you got you got oh, look at Spider.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: Come on, dude.
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: Quit doing that, bro.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: He's trying to take it to the last second every time.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: But no, but I I do like it.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: I like I love Ashton Gente.
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: Rick Dennison, we a lot a lot of people don't understand the fact that Rick Dennison is gonna be there and help the offensive line, and that's really gonna help this offense as a whole.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: Now, will it be happening right away?
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: But Kelly, what was your thoughts?
- 12:57SPEAKER_02: Why did why why did you want to go?
- 12:58SPEAKER_02: Why did you go so early on Ashton Genty?
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Okay, this is gonna be a very Kelly answer.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: And it is, I never pick running backs, and I thought, you know what?
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna go.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna do my typical um Brock Bowers or Trey McBride.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: I actually was gonna pick Puka, but there we got sniped.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: So I thought, let's go.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: RBRB.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: It's our first time for everything.
- 13:30SPEAKER_05: We had ETN going to the king at 210.
- 13:35SPEAKER_05: What do you think about that?
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: Well, with that news, with that news, felt with that news, everyone, with with Alvin Kamara being out a month, and already we already know that he's had multiple injuries with knees, um, and he's not even he's not younger, they really don't have another running back that I would feel comfortable with.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, we're gonna really be comfortable with Audrick Estime, the Devin Neal.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: They went out there to get Travis Etienne for a reason I think wheels up for him this this year, especially at the beginning of the season.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: It's really helpful, at least for him, that 31-year-old Alvin Kamara now, like you said, dealing with an injury uh for the next month.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: So it's going to lead into the regular season.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, a player that had already not been able to stay healthy the past few years.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: And the Saints are not the offense that everyone thinks they are.
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: They they increased their yards per attempt, so pass yards per tenth through the air when Tyler Shuck took over um in the second half of the season to 10th in the league, and have the second easiest projected schedule this year.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: It's actually a terrific situation for Travis ETH that we're pretty much removing uh uh uh Alvin Kamara from that backfield for at least the first month, probably.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: You know, and the other thing too, there's no more there's Jordan Tyson's gonna be for two.
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: This this team has really had some uh the the injury bug hit them, and because of that, I think that Travis HN, who actually can't catch passes or has done it before in his career, uh, you may have to go back to the college part of his career to just really see his pass catching, but he can do it, and that just adds a little bit more juice for him.
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: And I am going to take I'm gonna do this.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: Three RBs, three running backs on you has John.
- 15:14SPEAKER_05: I gotta say, I was debating Kenneth Walker at 101 or 201, and I know that's wild, but he's kind of one of my my guys this year.
- 15:24SPEAKER_05: I'd love to get your input on uh Kenneth Walker and how you feel about him this year while I make two picks here.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: He can go as early as 105 for all I care in drafts.
- 15:35SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's the same tier.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: Again, it's very it's extremely flat, which is why I think the back of drafts is a great spot to be in this year because you can double tap double tap your two favorites, understanding you're still insulating those top 12 players.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: Over the last two years, ADP has been accurate because running backs have stayed healthy.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: That's why Javante Williams in that time is the only running back who's been drafted out top 12 running back in points per game, who's been drafted outside the first three rounds, because he was drafted in the eighth round last year.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, though, you know exactly where the top 12 running backs come from.
- 16:08SPEAKER_01: Where we should be taking our shots, the RB 13 through 24 in points per game the past two years has averaged a sixth round ADP.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: And it's because we still cannot choose and we always miss in the dead zone.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: That next group of running backs, Kenneth Walker, Derek Henry, Devon A-chan, Chase Brown, Saquon Barkley, Amarian Hanton.
- 16:25SPEAKER_01: Those are not dead zone backs.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: Those are guys who compete as low-end RB1s.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: And so that's why I'm high on them.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: But the rest of the group is when I then pivot and say, okay, instead, I'll take Brock Bowers, I'll hammer wide receiver, I'll wait for Colston Loveland.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: I'm going a different direction, understanding I can mimic hit rates from the sixth, seventh round on from the guys who are typically being drafted in the third through fifth round.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: All right, now Kelly has a pick here.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: And look, and Kelly, Kelly, Kelly's got an interesting team because Kelly went Ashton Gentee, then she went with Derrick Henry, 32-year-old Derek Henry, and then Trey and Trey McBride, and would follow that up with Rasheed Rice.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: I love the Trey McBride.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: How are we feeling about Rasheed Rice, though, everyone?
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: I I love Rasheed Rice still.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: I don't think he's a great human being, but he's a wonderful wide receiver.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: I think he's still gonna be seeing the ball a lot.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: I don't know what everybody's freaking out about, and maybe over here as a familist, I just don't know enough, but that's how I feel about it.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean what I feel about Rasheed Rice, yeah.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Like, what is it about him?
- 17:38SPEAKER_02: Like, he needs to really put it together.
- 17:40SPEAKER_02: I know he can put it together on the field, but I need him to put it together in life.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: Well, it doesn't matter.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: I know you're money.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: I don't care how bad or good of a person he is, like, give me fantasy football points.
- 17:50SPEAKER_03: Spider is killing me.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: That's not my philosophy in life, actually.
- 17:54SPEAKER_03: And maybe that's you could kick babies across the street for all I care.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Give me 20 fantasy points a game.
- 18:00SPEAKER_04: What?
- 18:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, it's all contingent, obviously, if he stays out of trouble, but I mean, he averaged 18.8 points per game when he played.
- 18:08SPEAKER_05: I know we talked about him honestly quite a bit in our wide receiver ranking show.
- 18:12SPEAKER_05: Uh, he should dominate that target share there, whether it is in the short intermediate, which is where he thrives.
- 18:18SPEAKER_05: And you know, at the end of the day, he's gonna be an absolute PPR hog.
- 18:22SPEAKER_05: And he also is really involved in the red zone as well, um, in that offense.
- 18:28SPEAKER_05: So yeah, I'm in on Rasheed Rice.
- 18:30SPEAKER_05: I like him.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: Honestly, that's a that's a great start too for a third pick that you can have, like that kind of arc type as your RB1, uh, regardless of you know the the growing injury they said they're not too worried about that Brees Hall is enduring right now.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: But Brees Hall last year a career low in fantasy points per game because he had a career low target share.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: But at least for a little bit, we're expecting uh much better quarterback play, thus more efficient targets.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Also, not no longer a running quarterback that he's playing with and Geno Smith.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: So uh just in and zooming out, regardless of what we think of the player situation, and just understanding receiving arc types, and those are the types of players that can emerge and are typically hit rates in this dead zone.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: I think you know, an RB1 like Brees Hall, that's a strong start.
- 19:19SPEAKER_05: My guy, I got crapped on pretty hard for Brees Hall.
- 19:23SPEAKER_05: What as you should as you should.
- 19:25SPEAKER_05: Your only reasoning though is he plays for the Jets, yeah.
- 19:28SPEAKER_05: Like John said, you know, let's take a step back.
- 19:32SPEAKER_05: I mean, Gino just needs to play middle of the pack here.
- 19:34SPEAKER_05: He doesn't need to be special, he just needs to maybe be the what 20th best quarterback, and he's good enough to you know give Brees and Garrett Wilson his love.
- 19:45SPEAKER_05: And I mean, that's good enough for me.
- 19:48SPEAKER_05: I like the pick.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, I have been sniped twice now.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: And John, we're only in the fifth round, John.
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: Okay, so wait, who did who did John snipe you on the first one?
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: Who did he get?
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: Was it Lab McConkey?
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: No, it's Puka.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's Puka.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, sorry.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: Oh you gotta cue you have to cue a lot of players.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 20:14SPEAKER_05: Draft Strategy 101.
- 20:16SPEAKER_02: Five players already got one.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: I see, I already got one injury.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: Uh so hey Kelly, real quick, you're gonna have to take yourself off of auto pick because you missed your pick.
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: You have to take yourself off of auto, or else it's gonna auto-pick your I didn't, did I?
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, it automatically puts it.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: I hate it here.
- 20:34SPEAKER_01: Also, T Higgins is a perfectly fine pick.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: Very good.
- 20:39SPEAKER_02: I was I was hoping he'd fall back to me because I was like, Habuka and T Higgins, that's that's a hell of a combo.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: It should um if you get auto-drafted, it should pick from the very bottom of the rankings, not the top.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: So, like in this case, you should have uh EJ Smith, which I think is the fifth string running back for the Chiefs.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: That's who you should have had.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm uh I don't know, I'm just highly favored.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, look at that.
- 21:08SPEAKER_02: Bucky Bucky Bucky fell down to the fifth for Nico.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay, okay, Nico.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: Okay, no, we gotta talk about this running back squad here because I love the Saquon Bart.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: You can't start all of them.
- 21:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like like like what what are you what are you gonna do?
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: What are you gonna do when you need to who are you gonna bench here?
- 21:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, for what do you mean who you gonna bench?
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: You what are we we no longer playing with the flex spot?
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Like okay, out of the yeah, but like two running backs, and then you have one flex spot.
- 21:37SPEAKER_02: So, what are you gonna play all four of them?
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: You can't do that.
- 21:40SPEAKER_02: No, man, it's only three, it's only it's so who are you gonna sit week one?
- 21:46SPEAKER_05: As far as draft strategy goes, like I'm all about just drafting the best available player that I feel is gonna be the best fit for my team.
- 21:54SPEAKER_05: I'm not drafting a tight end or a quarterback if I need a quarterback or a tight end, like I'm Drafting the best available player, especially in a redraft format where injuries happen, waiver wires happen, trades can always happen.
- 22:09SPEAKER_05: So I'm always targeting the best available player versus a specific positional need.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: I think these are what I call good problems to have.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: So that's why I typically go best players available to, and the start set situations will be headaches, but they're they're really good problems to have.
- 22:27SPEAKER_05: And I had to handcuff the small possibility that Josh Jacobs does get suspended.
- 22:34SPEAKER_05: So hence why I double dipped with Bucky Irving and Tutan.
- 22:39SPEAKER_05: You know, two guys that, yeah, they have their flaws.
- 22:42SPEAKER_05: You know, there's a potential for timeshare with Bucky and obviously with Tootin as well, but also have a good amount of upside that could finish in the you know top 10, top 15.
- 22:53SPEAKER_05: I mean, Bucky was a top 10 RB a few years ago, so willing to buy the dip there.
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: Probably Luther Burden.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: I don't have time to go over news and reports on him, but God, I feel like that'd be a great spot to take him.
- 23:08SPEAKER_05: Light work Saturday.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: Light work.
- 23:10SPEAKER_05: He's fine.
- 23:11SPEAKER_05: He's fine.
- 23:11SPEAKER_05: Not heavy work, just light work.
- 23:15SPEAKER_05: I will admit the Barkley, Devontae, Smith.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: We're gonna pause it right there.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: We're gonna pause it right there, guys.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: We just want to what we want to do is we want to actually go through the draft real quick and just this is the midway point.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: So we want to just kind of look at some of these teams, look at who some of these teams are, um, you know, what their strategies are.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: Um, some players who surprised us at this point, and then we're gonna do it again at the end, but for some time's sake, we're gonna pause it right here.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: Why is it timing?
- 23:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, why is it time so I have no idea, but it's paused.
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: So I let's let's talk about this.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: So Nico, go ahead.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: I don't know what I don't know what the thing is.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: Sleeper is something else, I'm telling you.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: But go ahead, Natter.
- 24:00SPEAKER_03: I mean, so going through the team so far, let me tell you one, my team's by far the best.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: So let's get as long as we have that established, then I think we'll be all right with the second best and going forward on that one.
- 24:12SPEAKER_03: But Scotty, of course, with Gibbs, ETN, London, and Waddle.
- 24:15SPEAKER_03: Um, I mean, I like his RBs, wide receivers.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: I mean, you guys already know I'm not a big fan of Drake London or Jalen Waddle.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: Um, we'll go over to Slim with Jamar Chase, Bowers, Nico Collins.
- 24:27SPEAKER_03: I think those are great wide receivers.
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: Um, Brees Hall and Swift, questionable on my end on that one.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: Spiders, uh, the sun god, Justin Jefferson, neighbors, Loveland, Henderson, Price.
- 24:40SPEAKER_03: I think this is a solid team.
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: I gotta say, I gotta say that wide receiver room is pretty salty, man.
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: That's that's a nice wide receiver room that you were dealing with.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, and it is a 10-team league.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: You gotta understand that.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: But then he follows it up with Colston Loveland.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: Like he punted big time on the running backs.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: Um, but I mean, he could, he could, he could, Denarian Price could pay dividends back.
- 25:01SPEAKER_02: He could.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: Now, the Trey Henderson and uh Trevion Henderson thing, that's a little situation like we saw last year.
- 25:08SPEAKER_02: It took him several weeks to get acclimated into the offense, to get his feel of the offense, and Mike Vabel to give him clearance in the offense.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: So there was a lot of things that were hindering him, and one of the biggest things was pass protection.
- 25:23SPEAKER_02: And with AJ Brown over there now and Romeo Dobbs, who I actually like too, with both of those guys over there, they're gonna be trying to throw some deep shots.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: And you know what?
- 25:32SPEAKER_02: If you can't protect uh Drake May to throw some of those deep shots, then I we might just see some more Ramondre Stevenson.
- 25:40SPEAKER_02: What do you guys think on that?
- 25:41SPEAKER_02: What how does the backfield um look in New England?
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: We know that offense should be dynamic, but what are you guys thinking on that offense uh as far as the backfield?
- 25:50SPEAKER_03: I mean, I don't think there was ever a time where we had clarity on the Patriots running backfield.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: So, I mean, we could never really then at this point.
- 25:59SPEAKER_03: I kind of gave up now, but what do you think, John?
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Uh I think it's pretty clearly Ramondre Stevenson to start the year because that's what we saw whenever he returned from injury last year.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: From week 15 on, I believe it was, through the through the Super Bowl, Stevenson handled 55% of backfield touches.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: He had a 12.5% target share.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: So what he had had a receiving profile to, and most importantly, he was the more explosive runner.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: Uh, he had a higher rate of 10-yard carries than Trevion Henderson.
- 26:25SPEAKER_01: Whenever Stevenson was out for those three games, Harrison spiked three top 24 finishes, including two top five.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: So I believe it was actually really simple, despite people being unhappy with having Henderson on their bench, it was really simple to know when to start him.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: I also don't think he's startable in week one, assuming it's the same role that we saw whenever Stevenson returned.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: But that also doesn't mean anything because we're not projecting in in season-long football for week one or even the first month.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: We all know, like, if any starter in the league were injured, anyone, Jameer Gibbs, B.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: John Robinson, Ashagente, Christian McCaffrey, doesn't matter.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: The player you would want behind the starter is Trevion Henderson because he's the one of the most explosive backs in the league.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: So it's not necessarily about saying this is gonna be his role all year.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: You understand the upside and understand the windows you're playing with.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: So I think both Stevens and Henderson are good picks.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:19SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think as far as ADP goes, I was just gonna say, as far as ADP goes, you know, Trevion, I mean, clearly, um, seems to be going well above uh Henderson.
- 27:30SPEAKER_05: And when I look at that backfield, and you know, I'm trying to identify value in my drafts.
- 27:35SPEAKER_05: I'm targeting Ramondre, and it's pretty clear to me.
- 27:38SPEAKER_05: I mean, they clearly like him, um, they like him a lot more in Pass Pro.
- 27:42SPEAKER_05: And John really hit the nail on the head there.
- 27:44SPEAKER_05: I mean, his receiving profile is something that needs to be taken a closer look at.
- 27:49SPEAKER_05: Like, everyone always views Trevion as like you know, this great receiving back and things like that.
- 27:55SPEAKER_05: But Ramondre, his receiving profile was also very impressive.
- 27:59SPEAKER_05: So, as far as ADP goes, usually lean in the Ramondre way there.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because I mean you're getting Trevion Hendrickson in the fifth.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, if he's creeping up to that spot, you have to think the the the discount you get on Ramondre is just gonna be that much sweeter.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: Kelly, I have a question for you.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Besides your team, uh, we're not gonna take the Natter approach saying that his teams are the best when he clearly lied to everybody on the show.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: Blue game, blue game, blue team, right?
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: Kelly, what what what one team, if you had to face week one, would you not want to face uh based off of looking at some of these teams?
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Oh gosh.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, I thought you meant in real life.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I'm not looking forward to the Rams, but we're talking about these guys.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: Um, I think right now, looking at the overall picture.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Gosh, I kind of really like your team tip, not gonna lie.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: But I'm a disappointed that I'm gonna say John's team, though, because he sniped me twice.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he did get you twice.
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: You're also sucking up to the guest.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: I don't need to do that, I can make my own friends.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: That's true.
- 29:21SPEAKER_05: Well, just remember if you played John week one, uh the Rams and Niners are playing in Australia, and there's a small chance that Puka does not make the trip.
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, he's gotta quit walking in a glass door.
- 29:35SPEAKER_05: So that would help.
- 29:36SPEAKER_05: That's really to be fair.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: All right, guys.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: So we we paused the we paused the um the draft.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: We're gonna start in just a few more minutes, but John, same question that I just posed to Kelly.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: What's one of these teams that stands out to you so far uh in this draft?
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: I like both two and three so far.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: Uh so the Nader Space and Slim JKD.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: Uh I like those builds from, and they're entire they're completely different types of builds.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: But I I think like Armarian Hampton being the last guy in that in that tier of running backs, the third tier, after JT, Christian McCaffrey, and James Cook, that you're always like just happy to click whenever he comes back to you in a Mike McDaniel offense.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: That's a really strong start then to turn around and get like a wide receiver one in AJ Brown, uh, just a second-year receiver who profiled as Mike Evans coming out, comp to Mike Evans coming out of college and Tetaroa McMillan, regardless of the offensive situation with Bryce Young, and uh someone who can compete as he's already shown us in years past as the overall QB one.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: That's a really strong start.
- 30:52SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 30:53SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 30:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I agree.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: What can I say?
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: Oh, the only the only the only concern about your team matter is the McMillan.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: No, I mean the McMillan, the whole offense as a whole in Carolina.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: I'm worried about that offensive line.
- 31:09SPEAKER_02: They're a little banged up.
- 31:10SPEAKER_02: That that that's the only thing that's gonna deter me from any of the Carolina players right now.
- 31:15SPEAKER_02: Uh, but if their offensive gets healthier, that that that could change, that could change very quickly because that was that was their key last year.
- 31:22SPEAKER_02: They were really a solid unit on the offensive line.
- 31:25SPEAKER_02: That's what kept Bryce Young upright, uh, a lot of the times.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: Uh, so that's that's my only concern about Tenero McMillan.
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: Then you got Jalen Coker too.
- 31:33SPEAKER_02: Uh, they got Darren Waller.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: Like now they're starting to add some more of these pieces.
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: There's look, they got the walrus.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: The walrus is there, bro.
- 31:40SPEAKER_03: Come on, I don't even know who that is.
- 31:43SPEAKER_03: Stop.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, just like you didn't know Luther Burton, you don't know his injury, he's got a groin injury, brother.
- 31:50SPEAKER_05: I would have loved, I would have loved to see nab Waddle or Flowers over McMillan.
- 31:56SPEAKER_05: Personally, I think that would have been available.
- 31:59SPEAKER_05: They were both available.
- 32:01SPEAKER_05: Um, but I do I would say I do like your team a lot, so I'll give you that.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: I love the Lamar Jackson.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: All right, let's just let's resume this bad boy because I think we got some other people that are ready to chomp at this uh rest of this draft.
- 32:14SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna start with Scott the King angle.
- 32:16SPEAKER_02: Scott the King Angle has Jameer Gibbs, Travis Etienne, the uh Drake London, Jalen Waddle, David Montgomery, Drake May is his quarterback.
- 32:25SPEAKER_02: This is a one QB league, remember that.
- 32:27SPEAKER_02: And let's see who he picks as his next player.
- 32:31SPEAKER_02: All right, it has resumed King, and he got Parker Washington.
- 32:36SPEAKER_02: Okay, why you can uh they need to talk so much, right?
- 32:43SPEAKER_05: I mean, G G Y G man, go get your guys.
- 32:46SPEAKER_03: Oh shoot, Mike Evans.
- 32:48SPEAKER_03: Yep, I got you know hey, whoever's got a substation, an electrical one, I want them.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: Well, okay, all right, John.
- 32:58SPEAKER_02: So I got a question.
- 32:59SPEAKER_02: The the wide receivers in Jacksonville, let's break that down.
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: Well there aren't any processes on that.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: You got Parker Washington.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Trevor Lawrence was a completely different player after their bye.
- 33:15SPEAKER_01: Uh just a player who then surged to top 10, top five in efficiency.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, when everything started clicking for Liam Cohen's playbook, I'm gonna take the last elite quarterback in this tier here.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: Um I was gonna go Jalen Hurts over Jaden Daniels, but whatever, same thing.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: Uh, and so for me, really, it's about looking at this upcoming schedule.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: I don't know if anyone's looked at Jacksonville's schedule through their week eight bye, but it's quite literally the most impossible schedule I've ever seen in my life, so much so that uh it's a bunch of it's a bunch of defense that have all ranked that all ranked top 10 last year and limiting opposing wide receiver ones.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: So it's it's not only that Trevor Lawrence has to play, the Patriots, the Texans, the Seahawks, uh, every other great defense you can name.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: Philadelphia, for example.
- 34:02SPEAKER_01: Uh, Broncos as well.
- 34:04SPEAKER_01: It's again, it's the murderers row.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: Uh, one, I think Trevor Lawrence is going to be dropped in one quarterback league.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: The schedule's so tough and it'll be unstartable.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: People will just start streaming.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: So it's going to be a really good chance to buy all the Jags players low during their week eight bye.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: That's kind of how I'm handling it, is pushing them down in ADP.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: Not only that, but regardless of who I think emerges from the receiver tree, Brian Thomas has the toughest schedule of any wide receiver in the league through those first seven games.
- 34:31SPEAKER_01: He's playing all cornerbacks that are island guys that last year shut down opposing wide receiver ones entirely.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: So, in my opinion, Brian Thomas is just a guy that's also going to be dropped.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: You can't really draft because you can't use him the first seven weeks.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: And thus, like Parker Washington could probably lead the team in targets.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: But I'm so worried about the schedule, I've naturally just been pushing those guys down, anyways.
- 34:55SPEAKER_05: I can't believe y'all let Christian Watson fall to me.
- 34:58SPEAKER_03: Because he's gonna be a bust.
- 34:59SPEAKER_03: What do you mean?
- 35:00SPEAKER_03: Give him week three, it doesn't matter.
- 35:02SPEAKER_05: You were on our show two weeks ago just talking about how good he was with.
- 35:06SPEAKER_03: I mean, he I think he is like route running wise, explosive wise, he's amazing.
- 35:09SPEAKER_03: Now, his hamstrings, not that amazing.
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: You're not running.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: So so you can you can sit there and take Brian Thomas Jr.
- 35:19SPEAKER_02: after Daigle just said that about him.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: We were all talk to us, talk to us now.
- 35:25SPEAKER_02: Talk to us, Nico.
- 35:26SPEAKER_02: So, do you you you actually believe in Brian Thomas Jr.?
- 35:28SPEAKER_02: Um, I mean, he is your fourth wide receiver, but still, what are your thoughts?
- 35:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, and that was kind of my mindset there.
- 35:36SPEAKER_05: I mean, obviously, we're in a you know, two wide receiver, two running back league.
- 35:40SPEAKER_05: It's a 10-man league, so I'm really just kind of playing the upside here.
- 35:44SPEAKER_05: He's chilling on my bench, he has the opportunity to prove himself.
- 35:47SPEAKER_05: I mean, at the end of the day, you know, there was a lot of reports, you know, coming about how you know his wrist injury, his hand injury last year was kind of lingering most of the season.
- 35:56SPEAKER_05: You know, I do like Parker Washington as well, but you know, if I can go, it's similar to like the Ramondre Trevion situation where I'm comfortable taking the guy that goes around later versus kind of being the first one to crack the egg, if you will.
- 36:10SPEAKER_05: And the fact that he's gonna be sitting on my bench and just you know, kind of seeing how things work out.
- 36:15SPEAKER_05: I feel good about that pick there.
- 36:17SPEAKER_05: Um, have the depth that I need at both running back and wide receiver.
- 36:21SPEAKER_02: Oh no, now, John, you you brought up something kind of interesting because you know, a lot of times I try to take it as a week by week.
- 36:28SPEAKER_02: If anything, I'm gonna go maybe a quarter of the season and and start looking at things.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: But there are times where I actually will look at buying low on players or or selling high on players as well, and that is usually about the midway point, guys.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: I want to talk just in general.
- 36:46SPEAKER_02: What is the thought process on selling high and buying low?
- 36:50SPEAKER_02: Because those are things that we're gonna have to start thinking about here in just a few weeks.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh, yeah.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: Uh, find a league that actually does trades, but if they don't, then you don't have to worry about it because I feel like nobody really trades anymore.
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: I love trades, man.
- 37:05SPEAKER_05: You're in the wrong leagues, bro.
- 37:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I feel like once I draft them, they've become mine, like they're my children, and you don't go trade away your children.
- 37:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you do.
- 37:18SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 37:21SPEAKER_05: No, I'm a big I'm a big fan of trades, man.
- 37:24SPEAKER_05: I mean, oh, I'm always like that guy in the league that is looking for the slimmest of margin to buy low or sell high on a guy based on what I'm kind of seeing under the hood um in a lot of situations.
- 37:37SPEAKER_05: So um I'm all for it.
- 37:40SPEAKER_05: Also, uh Scotty the King, he drafted um Josh Downs here at eight eight ten.
- 37:46SPEAKER_05: Um, obviously, you know, earlier in the show when we went over news and notes, uh, we talked about the Keenan Allen signing to Indianapolis.
- 37:54SPEAKER_05: Want to get your guys' thoughts on that.
- 37:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, uh for me, I when when the uh Jordan Tyson news hit, I actually late that night, I was like, okay, let me go ahead and start sending this tweet out as Jordan Tyson gets picked by Dynasty Quay.
- 38:12SPEAKER_02: But um, I was like, I was getting ready to thumb out the tweet.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: I was like, okay, Keenan Allen to New Orleans, you know, because they have it Kellen Moore and him have some history together, but Shane Steichen and him have history as well, so even more history to say.
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: So so I think that it's a really great pickup for the for the Indianapolis Colts who need a wide receiver, who need wide receiver help.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: And now it looks like Tyler Warren is even banged up with a groin injury.
- 38:36SPEAKER_02: So man, Keenan Allen could come into this to come into this team, knowing the offense, and do Keenan Allen things and just frustrate other players or other managers of uh players that they have on their team.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: So, man, I I'm all in on Keenan Allen.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: Every league that I'm in that I did not have Keenan Allen in, whether it'd been a waiver wire picked up or starting the draft because I'm still in a bunch of other drafts, I'm picking him up now.
- 39:01SPEAKER_02: And I most likely in some of these later round drafts, he's he's like my wide receiver five six right now, and I'm loving it.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: You have no comment about him and his age, but weren't you the one that bagged on the on my Derrick Henry pick?
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: Who did that?
- 39:18SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: I just said Derrick Henry's 32 years old.
- 39:21SPEAKER_02: I didn't know.
- 39:21SPEAKER_02: Look, I I I do think that I do think that they will I think I think they're going to um split carries.
- 39:31SPEAKER_02: You know, and and when I say split carries, I think it's gonna be a uh timeshare between him, um Justice Hill, obviously.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: Lamar Jackson, you gotta worry about that.
- 39:41SPEAKER_02: Um but I don't know if he'll run as much in this offense.
- 39:44SPEAKER_02: And then I think that over the over the course of time, I think Randall gets in there a little bit.
- 39:49SPEAKER_02: They they they like that kid, they they think that he has a big frame like Derrick Henry.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: And so I think that he can get into the mix, especially towards a later part of the season where they maybe have already sealed a playoff berth and they don't need Derrick Henry, they're trying to save him.
- 40:03SPEAKER_02: That's where the Andor Adam Randall uh kid could come in.
- 40:07SPEAKER_02: So um, I don't know.
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: I I I do like I I like I love Derrick Henry.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: How can you not?
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: But it's just it's just when is that when is that when is that cliff gonna happen?
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: And never.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Um, I would rather see rather see him splitting carries with Keaton Mitchell, but that leaves him Keaton Mitchell to do Keaton Mitchell things, which are catch that ball and even run that ball, which he's supposed to do, but he catches that ball almost better than he runs it, and he's fast.
- 40:35SPEAKER_00: So I love a late round Keaton Mitchell.
- 40:39SPEAKER_05: You were listening to the show the other week, weren't you?
- 40:42SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm happening to be on the show, but I also can form my own opinions.
- 40:46SPEAKER_00: Yay!
- 40:48SPEAKER_02: Hey, okay, John.
- 40:49SPEAKER_02: So you took you took Dalton Kincaid, right?
- 40:52SPEAKER_02: So talk to us about this because I mean what what what are your thought processes?
- 40:56SPEAKER_02: I know I I've I've seen your tweets out there about Dalton King.
- 40:59SPEAKER_02: I I've heard you talk a little bit more about him.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: Um, I maybe when we were in Ohio, but so so what is your thought process about Dalton Kincaid this year?
- 41:08SPEAKER_02: Because he's been a massive disappointment.
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: He led his position and targets per route run.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: So basically, even though he didn't run many routes, he still was hammered targets whenever he did run those routes.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: So all we're doing really is just asking, like crossing our fingers and hoping he's healthier in a wide open target tree.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: And that's usually the late round tight ends that I draft.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Uh, athletes or players who both break tackles and have an open target tree to potentially lead their team in targets.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: Isaiah Likely, who just went, I think is also one because he's all three of those things.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: Same for Dalton Kincaid.
- 41:45SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope the route share increases beyond 50%, since it was only at 49% throughout his uh injured season last year.
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: And if so, then I'm perfectly fine.
- 41:56SPEAKER_01: Having said that, I think I'm also about to add one more tight end.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: Because if you don't get one of the top like eight guys, because think about it.
- 42:06SPEAKER_01: Whenever you, whenever you draft Brock Bowers, Trey McBride, Colston Loveland, Samuel Laporta, list goes on, Tyler Warren, you only need one tight end.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: You've already made your bet.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: You draft, you spent your capital early.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: So you don't need to draft another tight end because logically, that second tight end will never start over the elite draft capital of the first one.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: But when you're drafting from the back end, just like if you're drafting a late quarterback, you then can add a second one, stream and then drop for a stash in week two or three.
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna play it out with Dalton Kincaid and Dallas Goddard and go from there like that.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: I thought I was getting it sniped again for half a second there.
- 42:40SPEAKER_00: Um, I love tight ends and the flex.
- 42:43SPEAKER_00: That's just me.
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: Um, but we've had this discussion 25,000 times.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: So there you go.
- 42:52SPEAKER_02: And no, I mean we're seeing a little run here, and it and it really started with George Kittle.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: Um, well, even even before that, you can see that Kyle Pitts was drafted in the nine 9.9 uh by oh uh sorry, FTO.
- 43:06SPEAKER_02: So then you got George Kittle, Dalton Kincaid.
- 43:09SPEAKER_02: We just talked about Isaiah Likely, Travis Kelsey, guys.
- 43:11SPEAKER_02: I mean, are we really thinking Travis Kelsey's gonna do anything this year?
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: And then oh yeah, I think that Dallas Goddard, that like like that's the perfect yin and yang type quarterback that or run uh tight end that you did there.
- 43:22SPEAKER_02: Um, just in case the Dalton Kincaid doesn't work out, you know that Dallas Goddard is gonna get his in that offense.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: There's no more AJ Brown, some of those targets are gonna possibly go his way.
- 43:32SPEAKER_02: Um, then we have Mark Andrews, and then I got Jake Ferguson, guys.
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: Um, and I don't know about you, you guys here, but um, you know, somebody's gotta account for CeeDee Lamb, somebody's got to account for George Pickens, somebody's gotta account for uh Javante Williams coming out of the backfield.
- 43:51SPEAKER_02: Don't sleep on Ryan Flournoy either.
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: Uh, but Jake Ferguson, I think where he's really gonna get his bread and butter is in the red zone.
- 43:58SPEAKER_02: Um, he's always one of those guys who always gets.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: A lot of red zone looks from Dak Prescott.
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: So that for me is why I like Jake Ferguson.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Um, especially later rounds like this.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: We're talking 11th round, and you're getting a tight end, or you're waiting at that tight end.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: And there's another tight end I'm gonna wait at because I filled all my positions.
- 44:14SPEAKER_02: So I I you know I was really happy that uh John did that with two tight ends.
- 44:20SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna do it as well.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: Terrence Ferguson, guys, I really, really, really like this kid.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: Um, and you know, yes, it's a 12-team or 10-team league.
- 44:30SPEAKER_02: I'm getting it more into 12-team leagues, but I just want to talk about him because if one of those wide receivers gets banged up, or if one of those wide receivers don't play like Puka Nakua, Terrence Ferguson has already supplanted, I believe, himself as the third wide receiver.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: Yes, they've got 32 tight ends on the team, and every they draft one every year, but this Terrace Ferguson kid is for real.
- 44:53SPEAKER_02: Um, look at what he did last year.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: He was one of the he was the top um wide or tight end and 20 plus yard passes where he got 30 13 of those targets sent his way.
- 45:07SPEAKER_02: So I really like the fact that they want to get him down, get the ball down to him down the field.
- 45:11SPEAKER_02: And I think Terrace Ferguson is gonna be um a piece it that you can use in fantasy football.
- 45:17SPEAKER_02: Maybe don't want to draft him this early in a 12 in a 10 team, but I just want to show you that you can get him, and that's a guy that I think a lot of people are missing.
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: Um, all right, hey, the draft is done.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: Like I look, I figured we would probably get done with the draft a little early.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: Um, so look, we're gonna go actually go over the draft.
- 45:34SPEAKER_02: Nader, I'm gonna give the mic back to you, and you can kind of just pinpoint, break it down, and um talk to everybody about the draft for the next about 15 minutes or so.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: Answer this question before you jump into that.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: This is the only question we've had tonight.
- 45:50SPEAKER_03: Last question Keenan Allen's signing affects Josh or Wallen more.
- 45:54SPEAKER_03: Um, I would say it affects Josh more.
- 45:57SPEAKER_03: I don't really think it really affects anybody.
- 45:59SPEAKER_03: If there was a pull, if there was a team for Keenan Allen to join that doesn't really affect the fantasy value of any other players, I would say the Colts is probably the best one he could have gone to.
- 46:10SPEAKER_03: Um, I already hated everybody on the Colts.
- 46:13SPEAKER_03: This just made it a lot easier to avoid them.
- 46:15SPEAKER_03: Um, I don't know about you guys on that one.
- 46:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, for me, like Keenan's always just kind of been like a you know possession receiver that has always been an elite, like first down per route reception kind of guy.
- 46:27SPEAKER_05: Move the sticks, and what happens when you move the sticks?
- 46:30SPEAKER_05: You get a fresh set of downs, you get more carries for Jonathan Taylor, more opportunities um in the passing game for some of the other guys.
- 46:37SPEAKER_05: I think it's a really good move for their offense in general, um, just to kind of help, I guess, raise the floor would probably be the best way.
- 46:46SPEAKER_05: Obviously, the ceiling isn't anything super crazy, but you know, I think it's a lot safer of a floor.
- 46:52SPEAKER_05: Um I just, you know, I think the whole Josh Downs situation is where, you know, he gets dinged a couple of points, if you will.
- 47:01SPEAKER_05: Um, I did move him down a few slots in my rankings.
- 47:05SPEAKER_02: John, do you have any thoughts on this one?
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: It makes sense from a team perspective because Ken Allen's familiar with Shane Steichen's playbook, and it's uh one of the most intricate playbooks in the entire league.
- 47:17SPEAKER_01: Uh that's why I think Juwan Jennings is a guy who's it's gonna take a while if we see it in three wide receiver sets, because every player that's come in and out of camp for Kevin O'Connell has always mentioned that there's a lot going on.
- 47:29SPEAKER_01: You have to learn it in a hurry.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: So for Kenning Allen to sign so late, he is actually the perfect signing.
- 47:34SPEAKER_01: Plus, his last two stops in Chicago and Los Angeles, he was a high target earner, more like a wide receiver, too, even at his age.
- 47:42SPEAKER_01: The real issue is that he doesn't replace Alec Pierce.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: Like Alec Pierce made life easier for everyone, regardless of what you think about Alec Pierce as a target earner and player, because he gets downfield and he wins targets there.
- 47:56SPEAKER_01: But now look at their offense.
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: No one wins targets downfield.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: So it's basically just a chain-moving attack.
- 48:02SPEAKER_01: And that's also why when you took Alec Pierce off the field in the second half of last season, uh, I think that's actually part of the reason, not only because Daniel Jones got injured, but because Jonathan Taylor became a worse running back because he then faced a higher rate of eight-man boxes, because defenses knew they could keep close to the line of scrimmage because there was no one to separate over the top.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: So Keenan Allen doesn't fix that problem.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: That's the thing.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: I think Cannon Allen's going to be a fine answer as a wide receiver three or flex for PPR leagues.
- 48:29SPEAKER_01: But like, is the offense then become what we saw through the first eight weeks?
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: Like one of the most efficient offenses of the last decade?
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: I I seriously have my doubts.
- 48:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I completely agree with this one.
- 48:41SPEAKER_03: But looking back into the mock draft, every round I feel like the picks were pretty standard, and there wasn't anything too outrageous, though.
- 48:48SPEAKER_03: But I will say picking Austin Genty over Christian McCaffrey, I feel like that's kind of criminal.
- 48:53SPEAKER_03: Um Devon A chain.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: Oh, going before Derrick Henry.
- 48:59SPEAKER_05: I want to say something real quick about uh Tip's first round pick.
- 49:03SPEAKER_05: I absolutely love it.
- 49:05SPEAKER_05: I was yeah, I agree.
- 49:07SPEAKER_05: I mean, we did we did our listener league uh best ball draft, and I was drafting at the 112 spot, and Cook fell to me.
- 49:15SPEAKER_05: Um, which I think was quite a pleasant surprise, if you will.
- 49:19SPEAKER_05: I was fully expecting to take James Cook there at 110.
- 49:23SPEAKER_05: And uh my boy Tip over there, he said, nah, that's not happening.
- 49:28SPEAKER_05: So I just want to say I I really like that pick a lot.
- 49:31SPEAKER_02: I mean, I get it.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: The look, the Jamar Chase, the Puka Nakua's, the and the the St.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: Browns, I get that, but I'll be honest with you, and I've done this in some in some drafts that I've I had the fourth pick in one draft, and I said, I'm taking James Cook.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: I just I just see yeah this offense opening up for him as a whole.
- 49:50SPEAKER_02: I see there and the other thing too that I started looking about James Cook, and this is one reason why I didn't like James Cook prior to um the last couple of seasons.
- 50:00SPEAKER_02: I was like, Well, when they get to the goal line, who are they gonna give the ball to?
- 50:03SPEAKER_02: They're not gonna give it to James Cook.
- 50:05SPEAKER_02: Well, that's been a lie because they actually James Cook gives just as many touchdowns as Josh Allen gets as many touchdowns rushing, so they don't they don't hurt each other.
- 50:13SPEAKER_02: And and and now they're talking about James Cook getting some passing volume work.
- 50:18SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's all we've been wanting from him, and and and we've been asking for it.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: If we get that along with DJ Moore, I understand.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: Look, I I'm bought in on this Buffalo offense.
- 50:28SPEAKER_02: I know some people are probably not, but I'm bought in on this offense.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: I don't know if it's a Super Bowl winning offense, but I think that it can carry an off uh carry you um really well.
- 50:36SPEAKER_02: Now you got to go through week one against the Texans, but after that, um I look well, they do have a pretty tough schedule, but I still think it's Josh Allen and James Cook.
- 50:46SPEAKER_02: I think that they're really gonna be uh on one that's starting at the beginning of the of the season, man.
- 50:51SPEAKER_03: Now, going over uh the second round and even possibly more FTO picks, he decided to go CD Lamb, George Pickens, Javante Williams.
- 51:00SPEAKER_03: So he took three players on the same team.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: That's certainly a choice.
- 51:05SPEAKER_02: Well, he took four players on the same team.
- 51:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's got the full stack, yeah.
- 51:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's got the full stack with Dak.
- 51:11SPEAKER_03: So he took that whole offense.
- 51:12SPEAKER_03: He he put all his eggs in that basket.
- 51:15SPEAKER_03: Honestly, it might not be the worst thing in the world.
- 51:17SPEAKER_03: I certainly would never do something like that.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: I would do a stack, but not uh a full team stack.
- 51:23SPEAKER_02: Uh I mean I just hope they I just hope they run an end around with Ryan Flornoying.
- 51:28SPEAKER_02: That would really be like years.
- 51:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, say like Ferguson gets a touchdown from like a carry, you know, that'd probably never happen, but God, that would really suck for his team right there.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: I I like I like the stack.
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: Uh, you know, you stack how many players you take from one team, like two everything has context and to an extent, but to an extent, it it doesn't matter.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: You're as long as they're good players and a good team, who cares?
- 51:51SPEAKER_01: Like all my 12 and 14 team leagues I won last year.
- 51:54SPEAKER_01: I started six niners because they were one of the best offenses in the league against one of the easiest schedules in the league in the last month of the season when everyone was healthy.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: So totally fine with that.
- 52:03SPEAKER_01: I think the one problem I have here is one, again, you spent capital on Tyler Warren, so go elsewhere, grab another running back, for example, for a stash, a league-winning stash.
- 52:14SPEAKER_01: Uh, also, then Justin Herbert, you're already banking not only on Dak Prescott, but you have the entire offense, so lean into it.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: You already made the bet.
- 52:21SPEAKER_01: There's no protecting the bet since you have four Cowboys players, so don't draft Justin Herbert there.
- 52:25SPEAKER_01: Instead, draft another wide receiver just in case one of the Cowboys' wide receivers gets injured.
- 52:32SPEAKER_02: If there is a stack that, and and there is a stack that I like.
- 52:35SPEAKER_02: I do like the the Dak Prescott with one of the wide receivers.
- 52:38SPEAKER_02: Hell, if you're gonna do a two of the wide receivers, I like what you just said, John.
- 52:42SPEAKER_02: You said buy into it, actually lean into the whole thing.
- 52:45SPEAKER_02: Um, but I I gotta tell you, um, what Slim JKD has done, Jamar Chase with Joe Burrow.
- 52:53SPEAKER_02: I've been doing that all over the place.
- 52:55SPEAKER_02: Um, if I can get a little discount and get T.
- 52:57SPEAKER_02: Higgins, I would do that too.
- 52:58SPEAKER_02: Um, but I've been really going after the Jamar uh Chase and Joe Burrow.
- 53:03SPEAKER_02: I I gotta tell you, man, um it's gonna be fun seeing.
- 53:06SPEAKER_02: I want to first of all see a full healthy Cowboys uh offense, and then I want to see a full healthy Bengals offense as well.
- 53:14SPEAKER_02: And I kind of said this last year that, man, those two wide receiving groups um are really fun to watch.
- 53:20SPEAKER_02: They're really great for fantasy.
- 53:21SPEAKER_02: And I'll tell you one thing if Jamar Chase and T.
- 53:25SPEAKER_02: Higgins can finish in the top 10 wide receivers, which they not have have not done.
- 53:30SPEAKER_02: I will say it again.
- 53:31SPEAKER_02: I said it yesterday.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: They Joe Burrow will be the MVP of the league.
- 53:35SPEAKER_02: You can write it down, like he's gonna probably have like 45 plus touchdowns, like it's gonna be something crazy because they got uh uh uh Chase Brown, they got Yoshivash.
- 53:46SPEAKER_02: They they it's just gonna be a really fun offense.
- 53:48SPEAKER_02: I hope they can stay healthy, but uh go ahead, Matter.
- 53:51SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, in the last three years, Joe Burrow.
- 53:54SPEAKER_03: I think he's played 14 games.
- 53:56SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 53:58SPEAKER_02: It's been a all it's been a year off, year on, year off, year on for like the past not really because this year is an even year, so this is a this could be an on year, one okay.
- 54:09SPEAKER_03: I mean, so I do like the stack, of course.
- 54:11SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm not now the stack.
- 54:12SPEAKER_03: I always say if they're stacking, I'm all for it.
- 54:14SPEAKER_03: So the Jamar Chase and Joe Burrow stack, I'm all for it.
- 54:17SPEAKER_03: You know, now that you mention it, um, Nico, you did say I should probably should have taken Zay Flowers.
- 54:22SPEAKER_03: Um, and I kind of agree, I probably should have as well and stacked him with Lamar Jackson.
- 54:27SPEAKER_03: Uh you didn't know you were drafting Lamar the next round.
- 54:31SPEAKER_03: Okay, no, I didn't, honestly.
- 54:33SPEAKER_02: Let's talk about that.
- 54:34SPEAKER_02: Let's talk about that because we just talked about some really heavy hitting stacks.
- 54:38SPEAKER_02: I don't know if Lamar Jackson and and Zay Flowers is a heavy hitting stack.
- 54:42SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 54:42SPEAKER_02: Uh correct me if I'm wrong, John or Kelly.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, I I like the Ravens this year because it's not going to be what we've seen in the past.
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: Now they they take on like the first seed of the Ben Johnson tree and Declan Doyle.
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: We've already heard some unique things coming out of camp, including more three wide receiver sets.
- 55:01SPEAKER_01: Uh Matthew Hibner has been a standout alongside Jacoby Lane as rookies they can use if they want to run more multi-tight end sets as well.
- 55:09SPEAKER_01: I again, we're just going to see something entirely different that opens up the passing offense and thus allows for lighter boxes for Derrick Henry, too.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: So I think it is a good offense for Zay Flowers and Lamar Jackson.
- 55:20SPEAKER_01: I believe you could have tacked on Zay Flowers.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: And honestly, it's all the same tier.
- 55:25SPEAKER_01: So I usually say whatever.
- 55:27SPEAKER_01: Uh, have had you known, though, the pick before, so the Tetaroa McMillan pick that you were gonna go Lamar Jackson, then it makes sense just because Tetteroa McMillan and Garrett Wilson are in that tier of players.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: But like for me, for example, they're at the bottom of that tier just because we look at the outlooks of their offenses and we don't trust the quarterbacks in play calling as much.
- 55:46SPEAKER_01: So if Zay Flowers, I do think would have made more sense there.
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: But it's season-long, you know, we're only playing against nine other people.
- 55:53SPEAKER_01: So stacking while it's beneficial, it doesn't have as strong of a correlation because we're not in a giant tournament.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there we go.
- 56:01SPEAKER_03: And now, um, you know, it it's uh not statistic.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: Every single time Lamar Jackson has had a new offensive coordinator, he's won MVP the first year they were together.
- 56:13SPEAKER_03: And uh, you know, it happened with you know, of course, when he first got into the league.
- 56:17SPEAKER_03: Then there was Greg Roman.
- 56:18SPEAKER_03: Unfortunately, I don't remember the first offensive coordinator's name.
- 56:21SPEAKER_03: Now they got their new offensive coordinator, also don't know his name, so I'm still expecting another MVP caliber season out of him.
- 56:27SPEAKER_03: I don't know names, like I don't do names, I don't want to know your name.
- 56:30SPEAKER_03: Um, but other than that, the Parker Washington by stuff.
- 56:32SPEAKER_02: We should go to a place where everybody knows your name, though.
- 56:35SPEAKER_03: And that's his fault for not knowing it.
- 56:37SPEAKER_03: Uh, for for it's his fault that I don't know his name.
- 56:40SPEAKER_03: That's how the gaslighting of it works.
- 56:42SPEAKER_03: Um, Parker Washington.
- 56:45SPEAKER_03: I was really salty that this pick got sniped right before me.
- 56:48SPEAKER_03: I really like uh Parker Washington.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: I think he's probably gonna be one of the steals of the draft.
- 56:54SPEAKER_03: I think uh he's gonna end up becoming like an every week set and forget type of player other than him.
- 57:01SPEAKER_03: Um so the whole year, the whole year whole offs off season year, I've said I hate uh I'm trying to find his name all of a sudden here, but uh Scatabow.
- 57:13SPEAKER_03: After Trey uh Tracy missed that pass block assignment, I I've kind of slowly thought about maybe moving him up my list because if you can't pass block, you're not gonna be on the field.
- 57:27SPEAKER_02: Well, well, they also they also signed uh Najee Harris.
- 57:31SPEAKER_03: I know now kind of now we're back to square one.
- 57:34SPEAKER_03: Like you know, you know how bad you have to be at pass blocking for them to sign somebody else?
- 57:37SPEAKER_03: That was bad.
- 57:38SPEAKER_03: Well got rocked.
- 57:40SPEAKER_02: Well, I don't know.
- 57:41SPEAKER_02: When I look back at that, when I look when I look back at that play, yeah, he blew it.
- 57:46SPEAKER_02: I mean, he blew that assignment big time, but it looked like he so there was some miscommunication there because he made some type of move like a little too late, obviously.
- 57:57SPEAKER_02: But he it looked like there was some type of miscommunication there.
- 57:59SPEAKER_02: That's preseason, like it could have been the the the coach called one part of the play, but he didn't understand.
- 58:05SPEAKER_02: Like those are things, those are miscues, and that's one thing I'm gonna tell you right now.
- 58:09SPEAKER_02: Matt Nagy as the offensive coordinator of this Giants team, and I know that John Harbour, John Harbour is is overseeing this thing because he's the CEO type, but Matt Nagy's gonna have to develop this young offense, man.
- 58:23SPEAKER_02: He's going to, and that's been a kind of a weak point of his.
- 58:26SPEAKER_02: He he really can't develop these these young, young you know, offenses.
- 58:30SPEAKER_02: You know, take a look at what he did with Patrick Mahomes, too.
- 58:32SPEAKER_02: It wasn't really the greatest thing.
- 58:34SPEAKER_02: So I I'm a little nervous about this, man, because you got a kid in Jackson Dart who already loves to run and do all these gladiator type moves and get hurt and get concussed and say that he's on the floor for 50 40 seconds.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: And what why am I going into the blue tent?
- 58:50SPEAKER_02: Like, I would be really concerned about this offense, man.
- 58:53SPEAKER_02: I I I I like the pieces of it.
- 58:55SPEAKER_02: We talked a little bit about Isaiah Likely, of course, Malik Neighbors.
- 58:58SPEAKER_02: But man, these coaches have got to do a really good job of developing these young players, and these young players have got to also protect, or these running backs have got to protect uh Jackson Dart as well.
- 59:10SPEAKER_02: But that's my only concern about this.
- 59:12SPEAKER_05: If if it was I was just gonna say he's got some rent in the blue 10.
- 59:18SPEAKER_05: Um, John, I wanted to get your opinion on uh 7707.
- 59:24SPEAKER_05: We have Jonathan Brooks.
- 59:26SPEAKER_05: Uh obviously, he's been you know getting absolutely steamed up drafts.
- 59:31SPEAKER_05: Um, what's your take on the Panthers backfield this year?
- 59:35SPEAKER_05: Specifically, Jonathan Brooks.
- 59:37SPEAKER_05: Uh, if you want to say anything about Chuba Hubbard, obviously feel free.
- 59:40SPEAKER_05: But 707 feels a little bit rich for my blood, but want to see what you think.
- 59:46SPEAKER_01: I'm completely fine with it.
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: This team is, I was just looking at it.
- 59:49SPEAKER_01: It's so funny, too, because like his name is Dynasty, and you can even tell he's drafting a dynasty team, not a season-long team.
- 59:57SPEAKER_01: He has five rookies and Jonathan Brooks.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: Uh, having said that, I I don't I don't hate it because of the structure, it makes a lot of sense.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_01: He bet heavy on running back to start three receiving arc types as well.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_01: And then he only added a fourth one because, again, logically, when you spin your first three picks on running back, you have to ask yourself what kind of player can actually emerge in in that group and start over three picks I already made.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_01: And Jonathan Brooks is someone with upside, uh, not to mention tacking on a lot of wide receivers.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: Again, I think he went too far now because uh Jordan Tyson and Alec Pierce could be lost seasons altogether.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_01: Rookies who miss time uh in camp and heading into the regular season are historically just dead bets.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_01: Uh, not that Alec Pierce is uh is a rookie, but the fact he's going to miss most likely half the season, then we have to question the ramp up time, it's not a great start.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: It's a player I'm just not drafting at all in 10 team leagues.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_01: So uh beyond that, I I think it's fun.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_01: But Jonathan Brooks, you know, it's really just about Chuba Hubbard last year, two years ago, only got all those touches because Jonathan Brooks is not available.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_01: Brooks only overlapped him for three games.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_01: But when they did overlap for those three games, Brooks was targeted on 30% of his routes.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_01: He was the receiving back and had more carries inside the five-yard line.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_01: It's only a three-game sample.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_01: But then even last year, Chuba Hubbard gets injured.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_01: Rico Daldo becomes Walter Payton, Chuba Hubbard comes back and he's unusable in fantasy.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_01: You literally can't even start him.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_01: So Hubbard has already shown us he cannot hold on to the job.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_01: He's just not talented enough.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_01: So I think Brooks is a really good bet at ADP, honestly, given what he's shown us, but more importantly, what Hubbard hasn't shown us the past couple years.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and he's and he's the number four, he's the number four running back here, guys.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_02: So, like like like you just talked about, John, is you know, you have some, you you've got Christian McCaffrey, you've got some depth with Javon A.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_02: Chain.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_02: Jordan, Jordan Love, or Jeremiah Love, excuse me, Jonathan Brooks might slide into that Jeremiah Love with this high ankle sprain if he misses week one or so.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_02: But that's one of those things that you can do in this scenario.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_02: And I like that I like the spot too, because it's not necessarily the spot, it's more how many pieces he already has.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_02: Like, for instance, he already has those three running backs that he can choose from if you know Jordan or uh Jonathan Brooks is uh you know maybe having a slow start to the season or whatnot.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_02: But no, I still like it.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_03: So staying onto the dynasty team, his last pick uh it was Deshaun Stribling, who's been making a lot of noise.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_03: I do like him.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_03: Uh John, what do you think so far?
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_01: He sniped me.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: I had Stribling queued up, actually.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, just because in my type of build, it's the opposite of what he did, and that when I draft a wide receiver, I have to ask myself, since I spent so much capital already on elite players, what kind of player can I pick that actually I could start over Zay Flowers, for example, the bottom of my wide receivers, and it has to be a breakout player.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_01: Uh the zon stribling has the path paid for him to do so.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_01: If he's on any other team, 31 other teams, I don't care.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_01: He does not have the profile you get excited about whatsoever.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_01: Even last year, his only year in the SEC, a 14.9% target share, couldn't earn targets.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_01: That's very similar to Matthew Golden, despite being a first-round receiver.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_01: It was pretty easy to say Matthew Golden uh is not a player we should draft because he had never earned targets at any point throughout his collegiate career.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_01: That's Design Stribling.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_01: But also, the one offense and the one play caller and coach that I think gets you open as opposed to you getting yourself open is Kyle Shanahan.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_01: So now we're talking about the speed and size of Design Stribling with Mike Evans already battling injuries.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_01: We also know Mike Evans can't stay healthy.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_01: When he's healthy, he competes as a top 12 wide receiver.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_01: The issue is there's a lot of times where you can't use him because at this stage of his career, he is not healthy.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_01: Ricky Pearsall out for the year.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_01: Design Stribling just waltz into cut being Kyle Shanahan's wide receiver one role.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_01: And so there's no use in fighting it.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_01: Who cares about the profile?
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_01: Just admit it and draft him instead.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_03: Shoot.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_03: I mean, I think when it comes to Stribling, then he does have the best path to relevancy when it comes to the people at the end of the draft.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_03: Like, for example, DK Metcalf, not interested in him at all.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_03: Uh Tesla, like real, like no, not interested at all.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_03: Um, Ferguson, definitely not interested.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_03: Actually, the both Ferguson.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_03: What this the second, the Rams Ferguson, Ramson.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_03: Um, I will, don't worry.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_05: Tip, I I know you like Ferg a lot.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_05: Uh oh, I'm specifically Ferg all the way.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_05: I you know it's just tough.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_05: I think you were trying to make a point there.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_05: Like, I totally get it.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_05: Uh, it's just in a 10-team league, I I I know it's a little bit tougher, but I do like him as well.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_05: I'm with you.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_05: Don't let Nadter say otherwise.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_02: No, no, I Natter needs to go Ferguson himself.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_03: I will.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_03: All right, let's move off the draft board real fast.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_03: Let's go back to us on the screen.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_03: And of course, we're gonna have to start wrapping up the show, unfortunately.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_03: We have past the hour mark, but of course, we will be back on next week.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_03: And you know, we had we completely forgot to say throughout the episode that we are live on Twitch, X, YouTube, live at 9 p.m.
- 1:05:14SPEAKER_03: Eastern.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_03: And of course, you can join the chat.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_03: Make sure to comment down below on any questions you have when it comes to your redraft leagues or any uh any other type of questions that you have going on into the season.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_03: Um, tip, you have anything else to wrap up the show with?
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_02: Nah, man, I just want to thank John for joining us today.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_02: Um, it's it's is it we were happy to have him on.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_02: John reached out to me, was like, hey, you know, I wanted to get on the space with you guys on X.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_02: And that, John, we just really thank you so much, man.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_02: Any parting words that you have for everybody before we leave?
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_01: Happy to have joined everyone.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_01: Apologies about the miscues all off season, just because my schedule, uh, not to be I'm busy guy, but uh, I'm also terrible at communicating whenever I'm offline.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_01: Like I'm the guy who eventually is going to own a house in the woods, and you'll hear me from satellite phones.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_01: So I when I'm offline, I am truly unplugged and outside offline.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_01: So I'm just a bad person to communicate meetings with, but I'm glad we finally got together tip to do all of this.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_01: And uh yeah, call me back end season.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_01: Let's get something else uh whenever the action's actually happening.
- 1:06:20SPEAKER_02: Absolutely, man.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_02: We definitely love that, man.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_02: So um, Nico, do you have anything, bro, before we get out?
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_05: No, John, uh pleasure to have you on today.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_05: Um, it was super fun.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_05: Natter, props to you, man.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_05: Flu game made it through the mock draft.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_05: I mean, look at you.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_03: The the amount of times like off camera, I had to take like a towel and like like wipe the the you know the sweat from breaking the fever.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, go go take a couple.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_02: Go take a cold bath, dude.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_03: That sounds like a great idea.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_03: Well, other than that, I have that picture in my head.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you do.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_03: Good luck, everybody.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_05: We can't leave the audience thinking about that.
