- 0:00Three wins and as many races. It's really pretty phenomenal
- 0:03thing. It really is.
- 0:06What do you attribute it to and how does that kind of put, you
- 0:10know, what you have to expect out of this week doing that?
- 0:13If you could just talk about that.
- 0:15Yeah, it is a very special, special stat and special
- 0:21opportunity that I have in front of me to try to try and make it
- 0:244 for four. So I what I attribute it to is
- 0:28just great cars, great teams, great pit crews, great crew
- 0:31chiefs and, and NASCAR racing in general is extremely hard
- 0:35because of how many people have influence on the result.
- 0:38So if one guy makes a mistake out of your entire team, then
- 0:43you're not going to win the race.
- 0:44And three times it's happened where all of us pulled the rope
- 0:48in the same direction and and and nobody made a mistake.
- 0:50So I understand that doing it for 1/4 time is a tall ask, but
- 0:55I'm excited for the challenge. Paul, Chris Fox Sports practice
- 1:00and qualifying gets rained out tomorrow.
- 1:02Are you good? To go without practice here.
- 1:05Yeah, I, I think I I would be probably in favor of that.
- 1:09I know the metric has this lining up 4th and with how the
- 1:14flat tracks and the the short track package has been for our
- 1:19team, I feel like we would be, you know, really competitive
- 1:22right off the bat. So I got a great starting spot,
- 1:25more importantly, a great pit selection if it rains out, But
- 1:30if not, you know, I'll I'll obviously go out there and and
- 1:33try and, you know, qualify for the polls.
- 1:35So either way, I'm completely content with.
- 1:38And are you aware of how they'll do things if it's if they're
- 1:41getting approaching darkness? Do you know about this new
- 1:44procedure? This year where?
- 1:47They're. Going to tell you.
- 1:48There's a time where we'll race to and then once the leader
- 1:54crosses the start finish line at that time, then the next time
- 1:57they come by is the white and the next time they come by is
- 1:59the checkered. To alleviate.
- 2:01The issue they had at Chicago? Where and here.
- 2:06And. You know.
- 2:06Where everybody else? Is.
- 2:08I'm. Sure, you try to pour salt on
- 2:10the wound, Bob. Yeah, well.
- 2:12I kind of feel like. That maybe you're.
- 2:15The prime, yeah. It, it, I'm very, very glad that
- 2:18is that it is black and white now and there is a rule in
- 2:21place. I, I don't know.
- 2:23I mean, it's just ironic, right? But at Chicago and at Loudon,
- 2:28both times, I think those are the only two times in recent
- 2:31times that darkness has hindered the race.
- 2:33And it has, I've been like one of the, you know, the prime
- 2:36culprits of it. So I'm very, very happy that
- 2:39there is a black and white rule now.
- 2:40And it yeah, it, it is nice to not have a guessing game.
- 2:45And now, now it is what it is. It's.
- 2:49Better to. Race to a time rather than to a
- 2:53black. I mean, yes, I think either way
- 2:56is fine as long as you know it ahead of time.
- 2:59You know, like specifically at Chicago, the race strategy was
- 3:05heavily dictated on the race end lap, right?
- 3:08And, and guys in the back half of the field just took a 100%
- 3:13gamble on what they were, what NASCAR was going to do.
- 3:16And it rewarded them because they won on the gamble.
- 3:18And then the guys that were trying to race the race properly
- 3:21to the full distance got bit by it.
- 3:22So now at least if that situation comes up, we will know
- 3:26that, you know, the race is getting white flag that X amount
- 3:29of time or X time on the clock, not amount of time.
- 3:32But yeah, I I think having a black and white rule is, is
- 3:35always good. All right.
- 3:37In the back. Doug Rice, PRN Go ahead.
- 3:40Go ahead. No.
- 3:42Go ahead. Go ahead.
- 3:44Sorry, Terrell Covey with Portsmouth, Harold Christopher,
- 3:47just the, the level of success that you've had at this track,
- 3:50how much confidence does that give you coming in here for this
- 3:52weekend in, in that you can kind of put put another one on the
- 3:56resume? Yeah, I mean it.
- 3:58It definitely has me excited about the opportunity to, you
- 4:02know, continue my Xfinity streak, get another Cup win.
- 4:06But I, I can't stress enough how hard it is to win any NASCAR
- 4:11race just with everything that goes on the event.
- 4:13Everyone has to do their job on the entire team.
- 4:16So while I do have confidence that we're going to show up and
- 4:20have speed and I'm going to be able to, you know, get around
- 4:23the racetrack at a good pace, that that doesn't mean success
- 4:27by any means. So I feel confident that we're
- 4:29going to be in contention and and have a shot at it, but
- 4:33everything has to go right in order to win.
- 4:35Doug. So are you OK if this new
- 4:38darkness rule becomes known as the Christopher Bell rule?
- 4:42I would love that all. Right, you're.
- 4:47Here, patdecollanascar.com. Where exactly do you fall in the
- 4:50leadership dynamic at JGR and do you feel like you'll need to
- 4:53take on a bigger role next year with Martin's?
- 4:56That's a good question. And honestly, I don't really
- 4:59know if there really is any leadership from the driver's
- 5:03standpoint. You know, certainly whenever we
- 5:07get into our competition meetings, the, the, the more
- 5:10guys with experience will, you know, kind of, I guess take the
- 5:15role a little bit in steering the ship as far as what we need
- 5:18in the race cars and stuff like that.
- 5:20And, and I have definitely grown, you know, in confidence,
- 5:24telling the team what we need inside of our cars with
- 5:26experience. But you know, week in and week
- 5:30out, a different guy may lead the lead the discussion, right.
- 5:34And, and every time we go into our Monday meetings, it's it,
- 5:39it, it could be whoever has a good race that week.
- 5:41So plenty of times it's been Ty plenty of times it's been
- 5:45Martin, it's been myself, it's been Denny.
- 5:47So, you know, I, I don't think that there, there really is a,
- 5:52a, a leadership role in that aspect, you know, and, and
- 5:56whenever Chase comes into the car, whenever, whenever, I don't
- 6:04even know what to say. Whenever we have a new driver
- 6:08into the 19 car, whenever we have a new driver into the 19
- 6:14car, whoever that is, their experience level will dictate
- 6:20how much input they have in the team.
- 6:22Well, we look forward to that. Thank you.
- 6:26Back. Up here.
- 6:26To Holly. How to follow that?
- 6:33I'll take it easy on you, though.
- 6:35My question to you actually was in it and you may say you don't
- 6:40sense it at all, but there are a lot of very accomplished drivers
- 6:44that have not necessarily secured their playoff position
- 6:48yet. Is this the time of year where
- 6:50you expect things to start cranking up a little bit and the
- 6:53racing to get a little bit more, you know, intense and things
- 6:57like that or or not quite yet? Yeah.
- 7:00I mean, this is definitely the time of year where people start,
- 7:05you know, thinking about the playoff positions.
- 7:07And if you look outside the cut line, it is very, very, very
- 7:12intense. And there's a lot of very
- 7:14talented cars, talented teams that are on the outside looking
- 7:16in. And it's going to be a battle.
- 7:19It's going to be a battle all the way to the end.
- 7:21And the more guys that win, you know, outside the cut line is
- 7:24just going to make it even tighter and tighter all.
- 7:27Right back here again. So now racing on Saturday and
- 7:34Sunday, is there any real benefit when you come in Sunday
- 7:36now or are the cars too different for that to to make a
- 7:39big difference? And if it if it is too big of a
- 7:42difference, what is the value that you find?
- 7:44It's still coming down and and racing the Xfinity races on
- 7:46these weekends. Yeah, I mean, I think the
- 7:49advantage from Saturday to Sunday is, is is pretty much
- 7:53gone. You know, they're, they're the
- 7:55cars are completely different, the shift patterns different,
- 7:57the way that they react and, and corners is, is it's, it's
- 8:02completely almost irrelevant from Saturday to Sunday.
- 8:05So now it is just about enjoyment and track time.
- 8:09And yeah, it's it's it's very hard to take anything from
- 8:14Saturday to Sunday.
