- 1:08Speaker 4: pretty good day. I got to kind of chill out.
- 1:10Speaker 4: It's been pretty nuts as of late for me. So
- 1:16Speaker 4: I've had two days off and I pretty much just
- 1:19Speaker 4: kind of like caught up on shows.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I had to do the outline for this.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Like, nothing real stra- I did some laundry.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Like, we're just- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 4: We're not doing anything too strenuous.
- 1:30Speaker 3: We're not taking on big projects. We're not. No. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I love that. That's great. No, not at all. That's good,
- 1:37Speaker 3: because it's gonna get busy again for you.
- 1:40Speaker 4: It's gonna get real busy, yep.
- 1:41Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:42Speaker 4: And so, I'm gonna do some more, you know, like,
- 1:45Speaker 4: I gotta mow tomorrow.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I gotta do the things, you know? Oh, sure, sure, sure.
- 1:49Speaker 3: But yeah, just- Just being a dad. Yeah. Dadding it
- 1:53Speaker 3: up over here. How have you been? Good. Good.
- 1:56Speaker 4: I'm headed north tomorrow at some point.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Exciting, dude.
- 2:00Speaker 5: I also have to get my life together tonight a
- 2:02Speaker 5: little bit before working tomorrow.
- 2:07Speaker 3: But yeah, everything's good.
- 2:08Speaker 4: That'll be a nice long trip up there. Yeah, it
- 2:10Speaker 4: should be nice.
- 2:11Speaker 5: I'm going to go for the long weekend and then
- 2:15Speaker 5: chill out. And I plan on doing just absolutely nothing
- 2:19Speaker 5: while I'm up there.
- 2:21Speaker 3: That sounds glorious.
- 2:22Speaker 5: As little as possible.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I'm a little upset that I didn't get to go
- 2:27Speaker 4: up north more this summer.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I really thought I would have been able to.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Yes, didn't make it up there very much, did you?
- 2:33Speaker 5: Just didn't work.
- 2:35Speaker 4: No, the fan went up more than I did.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you just went with them.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Yeah, it was like the times that I was out
- 2:40Speaker 4: of town.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Gotcha. But otherwise, yeah, we just kind of had, you know,
- 2:45Speaker 3: baseball and softball. It was tough. It was tough this summer.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Those kids get busy.
- 2:50Speaker 5: They do they sure do uh well that's fun uh
- 2:55Speaker 5: what uh what have you been watching though what have
- 2:57Speaker 5: you been doing.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Been watching a lot of uh movies and things recently
- 3:01Speaker 4: uh on the flights and whatnot but i watched a
- 3:05Speaker 4: movie you brought up not too long ago uh and
- 3:08Speaker 4: i saw that it was on delta so i checked
- 3:10Speaker 4: it out it is called nirvana the band the show.
- 3:13Speaker 3: The movie oh yes and you underplayed it for me
- 3:19Speaker 3: I thought this movie was awesome. I love that. I
- 3:25Speaker 3: love that. I enjoyed it.
- 3:27Speaker 5: I do think that style of humor does not always
- 3:30Speaker 5: hit me in the same way it hits other people.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Because it's kind of like the what's the dude's name?
- 3:36Speaker 5: It's less like a cringy humor, but it's similar ish.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Stop like um borat like sasha baron cohen.
- 3:44Speaker 5: No i guess it is more like that than who
- 3:47Speaker 5: i'm ricky i'm thinking of the guy who did the
- 3:50Speaker 5: paul rudd movie and he just makes everything so weird
- 3:53Speaker 5: and you guys oh tim robinson yeah yeah yeah and
- 3:57Speaker 5: he is really funny and good but like it's not
- 3:59Speaker 5: he's not that cringy yeah he's not tim robinson you're
- 4:03Speaker 5: right it's not yeah yeah yeah yeah.
- 4:07Speaker 4: But anyway, I thought this movie was so original. I've
- 4:10Speaker 4: been seeing this main guy who wrote and directed.
- 4:12Speaker 3: His name is Matt Johnson.
- 4:14Speaker 4: He's directing the new Anthony Bourdain movie, Tony, it's called.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, which I really want to see. Looks interesting.
- 4:21Speaker 4: He also wrote, directed, and starred in that movie Blackberry,
- 4:25Speaker 4: about Blackberry.
- 4:26Speaker 3: The company. Oh, okay, yeah. A few years ago, which
- 4:30Speaker 3: I really liked a lot. The Jay Baruchel one, right? Yeah, exactly.
- 4:32Speaker 3: If I'm remembering correctly, yeah. Yep, yep. Nice. But, dude,
- 4:36Speaker 3: it is insane. There are elements of Back to the Future.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I loved all that stuff. Just in the sense that
- 4:44Speaker 4: there's random people in it that, you know, they're not
- 4:48Speaker 4: actors and he's just going up to them on the
- 4:49Speaker 4: street and they ended up in the movie, which is crazy.
- 4:52Speaker 4: They do crazy stunts that could have gotten them arrested.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Like, just.
- 4:58Speaker 4: nuts and i don't want to give too much of
- 5:00Speaker 4: it away because it's so much fun going in blind
- 5:02Speaker 4: yeah yeah agreed but these guys had a tv show
- 5:06Speaker 4: i want to check that out now like i loved
- 5:11Speaker 4: it i.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Feel like it's so weird that i i never really
- 5:13Speaker 3: even heard of them.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Before seeing this movie it's just so interesting same yeah
- 5:19Speaker 5: yeah the movie was crazy though i'm with you yeah
- 5:23Speaker 5: I'm with you.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Nice. Well, I did enjoy it.
- 5:25Speaker 5: I'm sorry I underplayed it for you, but maybe it
- 5:27Speaker 5: worked out.
- 5:27Speaker 3: For the best. It worked out.
- 5:29Speaker 4: You know how I am going in with high expectations.
- 5:31Speaker 4: It worked out really well.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Yes. Love that. Very cool. Loved it. Is that streaming somewhere?
- 5:37Speaker 3: I don't know. It's on Delta. I don't know if
- 5:41Speaker 3: it's actually on a streamer yet.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Oh, it's on Hulu.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Never mind. I just pulled it up. Hulu! I asked you,
- 5:48Speaker 3: but then just could have looked. Love it. What have
- 5:52Speaker 3: you been watching? Very fun. I went to the theater.
- 5:55Speaker 3: The theater. And I saw a film that I love.
- 5:59Speaker 3: This series of films. I think you think they're okay. Actually,
- 6:04Speaker 3: I don't really know.
- 6:04Speaker 5: But jackass uh i watched best and last i think
- 6:10Speaker 5: they're very funny dude okay you do okay i couldn't
- 6:12Speaker 5: remember they make.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Me laugh very hard okay and honestly one of the
- 6:16Speaker 4: hardest times i've ever laughed was that one jackass movie
- 6:20Speaker 4: where they're it's like a terrorist plot that destroyed.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Me dude it destroyed.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Me And then it turns out that the beard is.
- 6:31Speaker 3: He's getting... Yes, with the beard.
- 6:34Speaker 5: The double dip pranks that they do sometimes are the best. Okay, well,
- 6:38Speaker 5: then we're on the same page. I love Jackass as well.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Big fan.
- 6:42Speaker 5: So I saw Jackass Best and Last, which I should
- 6:46Speaker 5: have realized, but I did not.
- 6:48Speaker 4: It is both a clip show and not.
- 6:50Speaker 3: A clip show.
- 6:51Speaker 4: So that's the best part.
- 6:54Speaker 5: And then the last is like their last, you know,
- 6:57Speaker 5: stunts that they're doing so they have the best ones
- 7:00Speaker 5: from over the years um i will say this was
- 7:02Speaker 5: more like heartfelt than i anticipated i was getting into
- 7:07Speaker 5: because like a few of these dudes are dead like
- 7:11Speaker 5: some of them are have you know bam isn't in
- 7:14Speaker 5: the movie because like they won't approve him for insurance
- 7:19Speaker 5: anymore because he's been having a hard time like all
- 7:21Speaker 5: these things, they're all much older now. Uh, but I really,
- 7:26Speaker 5: I really had a great time watching it. It was
- 7:28Speaker 5: fun to, to have been with them the whole ride
- 7:31Speaker 5: and get to see like those best of clips were
- 7:34Speaker 5: really fun to revisit a little bit. And then, you know,
- 7:38Speaker 5: the new ones were, were great, but like, boy, Johnny
- 7:42Speaker 5: Knoxville stuff. I was just like, Dude, you gotta stop.
- 7:45Speaker 5: You're gonna die.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Like, I'm scared for you now. You're too old for this.
- 7:50Speaker 4: He's too old.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I mean, he was too old when that bull bucked
- 7:54Speaker 3: him over.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Yeah, and that bull, like, almost legitimately killed him, apparently.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Like, it was.
- 7:59Speaker 5: He landed right on his head.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Neck. It's crazy, dude. And I was just.
- 8:04Speaker 5: I found myself being much more concerned for them, which
- 8:07Speaker 5: I suppose... is probably a byproduct of both them being
- 8:10Speaker 5: older and me being older, where I'm just like, we're breakable.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Stop it. You know, let's knock it off. Uh, but
- 8:17Speaker 3: this was a really fun experience.
- 8:20Speaker 5: Again, uh, if you like the other jackasses, you're going
- 8:22Speaker 5: to have a good time with this one. Uh, they
- 8:25Speaker 5: even amp up, uh, some parts of it.
- 8:27Speaker 3: So it's, uh, oof. it's it's really wild dude it's it's.
- 8:32Speaker 5: Uh it's a crazy thing but yeah so if you
- 8:34Speaker 5: like that jackass best and last i don't think it's
- 8:38Speaker 5: i assume it'll be streaming at some point but like
- 8:40Speaker 5: i said i saw it in the theater and it
- 8:41Speaker 5: yeah it looks like it's not streaming yet but i'm
- 8:43Speaker 5: sure shortly it will be because that was a while
- 8:46Speaker 5: ago already so yeah dude but yeah man jackass uh
- 8:50Speaker 5: if i need something to make me giggle that's a
- 8:52Speaker 5: pretty good step.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I keep seeing the clip of that. Do you remember
- 8:56Speaker 4: the giant hand that they pull as hard as they
- 9:00Speaker 4: can and it just whacks these guys?
- 9:02Speaker 5: They call it antiquing because they put flour there, so
- 9:05Speaker 5: it just turns them all white.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's so good.
- 9:08Speaker 5: They got Bam so big. That's one of the best
- 9:12Speaker 5: of clips that's in this movie. And it's, I mean,
- 9:14Speaker 5: he gets....
- 9:17Speaker 3: He just rocked annihilated. Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 4: And they take it so much better than I would.
- 9:24Speaker 3: I mean, I get it. They're signing up for this.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I understand. Yeah. That's their whole gig. Yeah. That would
- 9:29Speaker 3: not happen with me. If I got absolutely.
- 9:32Speaker 4: Oh, they get mad. They get mad.
- 9:34Speaker 3: For sure. Like that one.
- 9:36Speaker 5: I just remember bands response to that was just.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Like, he was so cool. You guys rocked me. That
- 9:42Speaker 3: was good. Like you nailed it. Yeah. Well, it's like
- 9:46Speaker 3: when somebody scares me, I'm just like, oh. That's true. Oh,
- 9:49Speaker 3: that was a good one. That was a good one, dude.
- 9:50Speaker 3: You got me.
- 9:51Speaker 5: You really, really got me with that one.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. But it was.
- 9:55Speaker 5: That's fine dude it's exactly what you think uh except
- 9:58Speaker 5: for just with a tinge more of like nostalgia in
- 10:00Speaker 5: there if you've been watching these for a lot because
- 10:02Speaker 5: it's been god it's probably been 30 years 30 years
- 10:05Speaker 5: right i mean no i guess i shouldn't have.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Said that was for sure in the 90s.
- 10:10Speaker 5: Dude because i didn't watch like all the mtv stuff
- 10:13Speaker 5: back in the day you know but some of it
- 10:15Speaker 5: for sure but yeah crazy But yeah, super fun.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Jackass, best and last. Pretty good. What are you streaming?
- 10:24Speaker 4: I watched another movie you recommended, and I super enjoyed it.
- 10:28Speaker 4: It's on Apple TV +.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I love it. And it's called Flora and Son.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Dude, that movie is so good.
- 10:36Speaker 3: It was a lovely film. It has Eve Hewson, who
- 10:38Speaker 3: I feel like we brought up a lot lately. Yeah,
- 10:40Speaker 3: we have, yeah.
- 10:42Speaker 4: She's Bono's daughter. I keep throwing that out there.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Love that.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Um you got joseph gordon levitt you got jack rainer
- 10:49Speaker 4: in there but um it's about a single mom who's
- 10:52Speaker 4: kind of stuck in life and uh her son is
- 10:56Speaker 4: struggling getting into a lot of trouble uh she gets
- 10:59Speaker 4: a guitar out of a dumpster and she kind of
- 11:01Speaker 4: changes her outlook on life yeah it's great it's really
- 11:05Speaker 4: great um I love it. I love that Eve Hewson's
- 11:10Speaker 4: character just has no filter.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Yeah. She has kind of a potty mouth on her.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Um, but heartwarming, inspiring, really well done. Um, pretty quick.
- 11:21Speaker 4: I think it was like a quick hour and a half.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Like I was really glad I watched it, even though
- 11:26Speaker 4: it took me a few years to get around to it. It's, uh,
- 11:29Speaker 4: I think it was 23 maybe.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Yeah. It was an under the radar thing for sure.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Yeah but i really loved it i found it to
- 11:38Speaker 4: be very lovely.
- 11:39Speaker 5: So charming so great yeah i loved it too i'm with.
- 11:42Speaker 3: You and the music in it is pretty good yeah
- 11:44Speaker 3: agreed agreed.
- 11:45Speaker 5: And fun to see joseph gordon levitt i feel like
- 11:48Speaker 5: i hadn't seen him uh much before i saw that
- 11:51Speaker 5: part it's not a very big part either but it
- 11:54Speaker 5: was fun yeah yeah i really like that movie go
- 11:57Speaker 5: check it out guys.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Yeah it's worth a watch for sure you could do
- 12:00Speaker 4: much worse love it Yeah. What have you been streaming?
- 12:04Speaker 4: I streamed one that you recommended.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Oh, my God. Look at us. I saw Tuner. Tell
- 12:12Speaker 3: me what you thought, dude.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I loved this movie, although I will say it was
- 12:16Speaker 5: a little bit of a horror film for me. Being
- 12:19Speaker 5: a person who's sensitive.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Sensitive. Yeah. Some parts of it were interesting.
- 12:26Speaker 5: And I feel like they you don't want to dig
- 12:29Speaker 5: too deep into like the actual story.
- 12:32Speaker 3: It, it makes him like.
- 12:33Speaker 5: Ill part of it, his hearing stuff.
- 12:35Speaker 3: But I thought it was really fun. Very compelling. I
- 12:40Speaker 3: liked that dude a lot. Uh, Leo Woodall, I thought
- 12:43Speaker 3: did a great job.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Um, it was super fun to see Dustin Hoffman be
- 12:48Speaker 5: sort of like an old, you know, tottering old man
- 12:51Speaker 5: kind of thing.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Um, I really loved that. I loved that gal too.
- 12:56Speaker 5: What was her name?
- 12:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 4: I wasn't familiar with her.
- 12:59Speaker 3: Yeah. Havana. Yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 5: I didn't know her at all, but she was really,
- 13:03Speaker 5: really fun in that. This is a story if you
- 13:06Speaker 5: guys don't remember. Sorry, I should have probably said a
- 13:09Speaker 5: young man has like a hearing disorder where he's like
- 13:12Speaker 5: he says he's allergic to loud noises and sounds. Um,
- 13:17Speaker 5: and he's a piano tuner because of that. It's like
- 13:19Speaker 5: his superpower as well. Uh, and so things happen and
- 13:24Speaker 5: he gets dragged into, well, if you can hear really well,
- 13:27Speaker 5: maybe you can break safes really well.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Uh, which I loved. I just loved that. It's such a.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Good conceit that I, we've never seen that exact spin
- 13:36Speaker 5: on it, which is fun. So we get like heisty,
- 13:39Speaker 5: we get like robbery, we get, you know, sort of
- 13:42Speaker 5: the like, this isn't the life, this isn't who I am,
- 13:45Speaker 5: but also maybe I, you know, like all that stuff.
- 13:48Speaker 5: I really loved this movie. I thought it was really
- 13:50Speaker 5: well done. It's the, it's the perfect, that kind of movie.
- 13:53Speaker 5: I don't know what that kind is, but like getting
- 13:57Speaker 5: dragged into sort of that seedy underbelly by like circumstance
- 14:02Speaker 5: and then having to like work your way out. That
- 14:05Speaker 5: always works for me.
- 14:06Speaker 4: And if you can get like a cool, a cool
- 14:09Speaker 4: twist on that, it's awesome.
- 14:11Speaker 5: And this one did that perfect.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Yeah, it was up for a lot of like independent
- 14:16Speaker 4: movie awards and stuff like it just because you could
- 14:19Speaker 4: tell it didn't have like a huge budget.
- 14:21Speaker 3: Sure, sure.
- 14:22Speaker 4: But man, they really did a great job.
- 14:25Speaker 3: It's great. I loved it. The music's awesome. Yeah, I
- 14:27Speaker 3: just thought it was all really wonderful.
- 14:30Speaker 4: I'm so glad you liked it.
- 14:31Speaker 5: I'm only now realizing maybe that's why I got a
- 14:33Speaker 5: lock picking thing.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Sure. Yeah. It arrived today. That would make sense.
- 14:39Speaker 5: So I'll be breaking into homes before you know it.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Sweet.
- 14:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Just do a few B & Es. No big deal.
- 14:44Speaker 4: It's going to be great.
- 14:45Speaker 3: It's going to be great. We did everything.

- 16:14Speaker 5: needed to do twisty twist on this but we'll explain
- 16:17Speaker 5: all that.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Later i thought that i would have been good with
- 16:19Speaker 4: just steve martin.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Films wouldn't have been i wouldn't have been either nope
- 16:23Speaker 5: i couldn't have done it it's arguable.
- 16:25Speaker 4: With all of them but yeah let's see what.
- 16:28Speaker 5: Happens uh it's crazy it should be fun though we're
- 16:31Speaker 5: gonna have a nice time either way i know i
- 16:33Speaker 5: will Yeah, we're here today to talk about the Three
- 16:36Speaker 5: Amigos film. This is from 1986? 86, 40th anniversary.
- 16:43Speaker 3: Wow, 40 years old. Woof. Woof. But we had to.
- 16:50Speaker 5: There were some gentlemen that we've had on the podcast
- 16:52Speaker 5: a few times. They never said they liked this movie,
- 16:56Speaker 5: but we had an inkling.
- 16:57Speaker 3: We had a... um educated guests.
- 17:01Speaker 5: Educated no they have said uh they campaigned pretty hard
- 17:04Speaker 5: which they didn't so hard they really didn't need to
- 17:06Speaker 5: do we're never reticent to have them on that's for
- 17:10Speaker 5: sure but uh no you guys know him you love
- 17:12Speaker 5: him and so do we give it up for benny
- 17:13Speaker 5: ellridge and adam renegade.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Wilson what's up amigos hi Oh, hey. Oh, what are
- 17:30Speaker 3: you guys doing here?
- 17:31Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 17:32Speaker 3: You didn't think about those headphones, did you? Nope, sure didn't.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Didn't think about that. I did not renegade, and thank
- 17:39Speaker 3: you for noticing. Just me in my normal attire. I
- 17:47Speaker 3: love it so much. For the listeners, Benny is in
- 17:52Speaker 3: a Three Amigos outfit. I love it. Just looking handsome.
- 17:57Speaker 4: The red tie.
- 17:59Speaker 3: That's really something. He told me he had the sombrero.
- 18:01Speaker 3: I didn't know it was such high quality, too. Shout
- 18:06Speaker 3: out to Gary and Sheila. They started going to Mexico
- 18:09Speaker 3: in 1990 and And right around, like, 1993, because they
- 18:14Speaker 3: knew how much I loved this movie, and I loved
- 18:17Speaker 3: dressing up in costumes as I was a kid, hence
- 18:20Speaker 3: my future career path. Sure, sure. They bought me this
- 18:24Speaker 3: sombrero specifically because of Three Amigos. Amazing. I mean, it's perfect.
- 18:29Speaker 3: And I was just there, and I was in the basement,
- 18:33Speaker 3: and I was like, well, I got to bring that back.
- 18:36Speaker 3: That's amazing. I just happen to have this poofy shirt.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Don't ask why. That's none of your business. None of
- 18:41Speaker 3: your business. Why do you have a poofy shirt? It's
- 18:44Speaker 3: none of your business, Rob. I'm pretty sure that was clear.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Thank you to stay out of my personal affairs. I
- 18:48Speaker 3: tell you what, I don't know how our friends in
- 18:51Speaker 3: Mexico do podcasts with their hats on, though.
- 18:54Speaker 5: I mean, could you do the headphones and then just...
- 18:58Speaker 5: Pop that hat on top of there?
- 18:59Speaker 3: Here's the thing. Again, they bought the hat for me
- 19:01Speaker 3: in 1993, so the hat's just kind of perched up there. Oh,
- 19:05Speaker 3: I see, I see, I see. I don't have the
- 19:07Speaker 3: cool drawstring like the real Amigos do.
- 19:12Speaker 5: That's how every hat fits me, so I didn't know.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Well, me too, bud. The head is not small. This
- 19:20Speaker 3: is glorious. Thank you for doing this. Of course, but
- 19:23Speaker 3: I wanted a live reaction. You got one. He was like, oh,
- 19:29Speaker 3: just start it. I was like, oh, here we go.
- 19:31Speaker 3: This is going to be good. I can't wait.
- 19:33Speaker 5: I just thought he was peeing for the hundredth time,
- 19:37Speaker 5: like normal.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Hey. Hey. I'm sorry. We're so happy to see you guys.
- 19:43Speaker 3: How are you?
- 19:44Speaker 6: We want to thank you for bringing us on after
- 19:46Speaker 6: all these years. We're big enablers over here.
- 19:48Speaker 3: For the audience. Sweet. really begged for this film. We've
- 19:52Speaker 3: been peer pressuring for years for this. We perhaps have
- 19:55Speaker 3: threatened our friendship and some other things. Many times. It
- 19:59Speaker 3: got a little serious. And I'm sorry about that letter
- 20:01Speaker 3: I wrote that was spelled out with the clipped magazine letters.
- 20:04Speaker 4: That was scary.
- 20:05Speaker 3: That fell over the line. It was weird.
- 20:07Speaker 6: And that definitely wasn't real blood on there. We were
- 20:09Speaker 6: joking that you were just going to like not tell
- 20:11Speaker 6: us and just do it. Not only with somebody else
- 20:13Speaker 6: that just posts, or you just do it by yourselves.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Oh, no guests. Robbie and Boots. Yeah, well. We couldn't
- 20:20Speaker 3: find anybody that was interested. Couldn't get a third ego.
- 20:23Speaker 4: In our defense, we didn't know people listened.
- 20:26Speaker 3: We're sorry we didn't call you. That would have been a, oh, great,
- 20:29Speaker 3: real bullets situation. Oh, no. Oh, no. It's real. Oh,
- 20:35Speaker 3: this is real. I love it. I love it so much.
- 20:39Speaker 3: I'm excited to be here. I think it's going to
- 20:41Speaker 3: be great. I'm so thrilled. Honestly, not that we've just
- 20:45Speaker 3: been thinking about this for the past bunch of weeks.
- 20:48Speaker 3: It's here. I've really let myself go because this is
- 20:51Speaker 3: all I've been thinking about. I've been ignoring work. I
- 20:55Speaker 3: haven't even wiped. Oh, God. There's no reason not to wipe. Well,
- 21:01Speaker 3: Stephanie's in Japan also, so that's part of the reason
- 21:03Speaker 3: for that. Oh, yeah. Well, then you're free. Sure. when
- 21:06Speaker 3: she's gone, you know, no wipey, no washy, no worry.
- 21:10Speaker 3: That's what they say.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Who says that?
- 21:12Speaker 3: I don't know. Don't worry about it, you guys. But
- 21:14Speaker 3: Stephanie's in Japan, so whatever. Certainly no one that's downwind
- 21:18Speaker 3: says that. That's for sure. I don't know. Nothing, really.
- 21:22Speaker 3: It's been a... Well, I went to Tokyo to see Stephanie,
- 21:25Speaker 3: and then I went home and went to Wisconsin to
- 21:28Speaker 3: the Lake Place. Oh, you did? Which Robbie has visited. Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Love that. Got to spend a lot of time with
- 21:35Speaker 3: the nieces and nephews. It was wonderful. Love. So fun.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Got to get day one of the state fair and
- 21:42Speaker 3: then came back. Nice, dude. Yep. You did it up.
- 21:46Speaker 3: I love it.
- 21:48Speaker 4: What was your go-to at the state fair?
- 21:50Speaker 3: What do you get food-wise? Well, you know, you know,
- 21:53Speaker 3: because it's your fave. I love that turkey sandwich. It's
- 21:56Speaker 3: my favorite thing. It's so good. I bring it up
- 21:58Speaker 3: so much. I won't lie. It was not my favorite
- 22:00Speaker 3: this year. Oh. I know, trust me. It was day one.
- 22:05Speaker 3: It was day one. Was it dry? It was a
- 22:07Speaker 3: little dry, bro. For the first time in my life.
- 22:10Speaker 4: That happened one year to me, and I was so sad.
- 22:13Speaker 3: How does that happen? It's always stewed in its own juices.
- 22:17Speaker 3: I know. That's day one, man. Yeah, maybe day one.
- 22:21Speaker 3: They're rusty. I don't think I've ever been on day
- 22:25Speaker 3: one before. I don't think I have either. Yeah, that's
- 22:28Speaker 3: a good point. But it was still tasty. Sure. Yeah,
- 22:34Speaker 3: I didn't. I was only, you know, I had all
- 22:36Speaker 3: the all the standards, you know, obviously the cheese curds
- 22:39Speaker 3: were amazing. And yeah, you got some corn dogs. Do
- 22:43Speaker 3: you do the.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Pork chop on a stick?
- 22:45Speaker 3: No, I did bacon on a stick, had some corn.
- 22:48Speaker 3: We only went for like three, four hours. Oh, that's
- 22:51Speaker 3: pretty good. Eight, nine dishes.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Well, look, it doesn't take me that long. Walked home
- 22:59Speaker 3: with a bucket of cookies. Oh, you get some sweet Marthas?
- 23:03Speaker 3: I actually didn't. Oh, we've been hitting up the Sweet
- 23:06Speaker 3: Marthas the last few years. I do. I mean, they're good.
- 23:09Speaker 3: That's a good thing to just take home with. Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Just get a buck. Just get a buck. I'm not
- 23:14Speaker 3: like a huge sweets person. Same. But like, dude, that
- 23:18Speaker 3: bucket like makes me ill just looking at it. It's
- 23:21Speaker 3: so many cookies. Yeah. It's great. And honestly, they don't
- 23:25Speaker 3: keep for that long. I mean, the quality goes down
- 23:28Speaker 3: after a while.
- 23:29Speaker 5: For sure.
- 23:30Speaker 3: I got a microwave on my thing.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Oh, for sure. But they're still not as good as that.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Yeah, they're still not as good. But, yeah, it was cool. Plus, again,
- 23:38Speaker 3: it was nice to spend time with the niece and nephew,
- 23:40Speaker 3: and they're kind of old enough to recognize what's going on.
- 23:44Speaker 3: That's fun. That's fun. Yeah, it was adorable.
- 23:46Speaker 5: One year I did the unlimited milk and the bucket
- 23:48Speaker 5: of cookies, and it was a problem.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Well, you know, my brother-in-law, Noah, who Robbie has known forever, he, like,
- 23:57Speaker 3: loves milk still. Like, he drinks milk. At, like, dinner
- 24:00Speaker 3: and stuff? Yeah, dude. What a weirdo. I love that.
- 24:03Speaker 3: That's amazing, though. Yeah, he like went there and just
- 24:06Speaker 3: crushed like six glasses of milk. Oh, yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Dude, they used to have a big chocolate brownie stand.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. I don't know why it's not there.
- 24:17Speaker 4: And then I'd go to the milk mill and I
- 24:19Speaker 4: would just sit there for like an hour.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that sounds wonderful. Because when we were in high school,
- 24:22Speaker 3: wasn't it like 50 cents? Yeah. It's like three bucks now.
- 24:27Speaker 3: What was this, in the 1920s?
- 24:28Speaker 4: Relax, relax, bro.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks, Biden. God, Obama. It's not administration, man. It's
- 24:35Speaker 3: just we're still reeling. The gift that keeps on giving.
- 24:39Speaker 3: We're still reeling. Two, three dollars for a glass of milk?
- 24:43Speaker 3: Other than that, nothing. We've been busy here at old
- 24:46Speaker 3: windmill studios all summer. Love it. Love it. Nothing much
- 24:50Speaker 3: on the old acting front, but sometimes that slows down
- 24:53Speaker 3: in the summer anyway. Sure.
- 24:55Speaker 5: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 24:57Speaker 3: We'll see. We're excited to have you guys. So excited.
- 25:00Speaker 4: We're so excited.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Should we talk about this wonderful film? I think we
- 25:06Speaker 3: should get into it. I may have to remove this
- 25:08Speaker 3: hat at some point because it's very uncomfortable. I support
- 25:10Speaker 3: you removing it. If it's uncomfortable, you take that off.
- 25:14Speaker 3: You do you, buddy. And if you want to do
- 25:16Speaker 3: some sound.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Effects while you take it off, sexily, go for it.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I'm going to try. I'm going to try to toughen
- 25:21Speaker 3: it out. All right. At least wait for your hottest take. Yeah, sure.
- 25:25Speaker 3: You're right. I'll get through it. That's true.
- 25:27Speaker 5: All right, you can throw it up in celebration after
- 25:29Speaker 5: your take.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Rob, will you get us started with just a rough synopsis?
- 25:33Speaker 4: I would love to. Three cowboy movie stars from the
- 25:37Speaker 4: silent era, Dusty Bottoms, Lucky Day, and Ned Niederlander, are
- 25:42Speaker 4: fired when one of their movies bombs. In what seems
- 25:46Speaker 4: to be a career-saving offer, young Mexican woman Carmen offers
- 25:50Speaker 4: them a high-paying gig in her village. The three jump
- 25:53Speaker 4: at the opportunity, expecting to do their typical act, but
- 25:56Speaker 4: Carmen believes they are really heroes and asks them to
- 26:01Speaker 4: rid her village of bad guy El Guapo.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Love it. Love it. Hot read. Hot read. Thanks.
- 26:10Speaker 5: Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear what they have
- 26:12Speaker 5: to say. I'd like to remind everyone that this isn't
- 26:15Speaker 5: my take. This is from a website. Critics have it
- 26:18Speaker 5: coming in at 44%.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Unbelievable, dude. Wow. I was not expecting that at all.
- 26:25Speaker 3: You can leave. Yeah. My goodness. That's crazy.
- 26:30Speaker 5: So critics are dumb. Audience members, they have it up
- 26:33Speaker 5: at 67.
- 26:34Speaker 3: So that's better. I'm still shocked by that. That's not okay.
- 26:38Speaker 3: It's better. Shocked. Yeah. Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 5: I was surprised by those numbers, maybe because you guys
- 26:45Speaker 5: love it. But let's get into what we all think.
- 26:47Speaker 5: It's time for our hot take.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Hot take.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Oh, ouch. Ow, I burned myself. That's a hot take.
- 26:54Speaker 3: That's a hot take. Ow, I burned myself. Every time.
- 27:01Speaker 3: It gets me every time. It might just be hat rub. Yeah. Oh,
- 27:06Speaker 3: hat rub. It might just be my forehead rash that's happening. Oh, gosh.
- 27:13Speaker 5: I've absolutely had a forehead rash.
- 27:17Speaker 3: It's like when you paint your whole face and body
- 27:19Speaker 3: for your football game and then your team just gets
- 27:21Speaker 3: its ass kicked and then you've got to walk out
- 27:23Speaker 3: of the stadium and you just look like a dick.
- 27:27Speaker 3: It was super cool when you came. And then you're like,
- 27:31Speaker 3: this is dumb. We got beat by 45. I look
- 27:35Speaker 3: like an idiot. It's a sad, sad shower. Why didn't
- 27:42Speaker 3: I bring a shirt and a hat? Oh, man.
- 27:46Speaker 5: Why didn't I bring a shirt was the thing I
- 27:48Speaker 5: thought every time.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 27:50Speaker 4: I've never thought about that before.
- 27:53Speaker 3: It makes me so happy. That's pretty great. That's pretty great.
- 27:57Speaker 3: This is already great.
- 27:59Speaker 5: I can go first with my hot take because I
- 28:01Speaker 5: think it's going to be very different than all yours.
- 28:04Speaker 5: Only in that this is not a movie I've seen
- 28:07Speaker 5: a bunch of times. This is one of those weird
- 28:10Speaker 5: ones that I just... missed for whatever reason it just
- 28:14Speaker 5: didn't line up weird honestly it wasn't in the bargain
- 28:17Speaker 5: bin or something at our pomida when we went up
- 28:20Speaker 5: in northern minnesota love it pomida dude wow throwback to
- 28:25Speaker 5: pomida um but man i really love this movie and
- 28:30Speaker 5: really loved the rewatch it is Like the perfect distillation
- 28:35Speaker 5: of that sort of 80s comedy that was like hearkening
- 28:39Speaker 5: back even to a time before that sort of like
- 28:42Speaker 5: the vaudevillian slash silent film stuff.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Is so fun.
- 28:46Speaker 5: These three dudes are just so funny. They're so funny
- 28:49Speaker 5: together and they're also good independently. And then just seeing
- 28:53Speaker 5: them get to play off each other. and be oblivious
- 28:56Speaker 5: and dumb the whole time is just a treat. I
- 28:59Speaker 5: loved it so much, uh, and had a really, really
- 29:03Speaker 5: great time watching all of them do their thing. Love
- 29:05Speaker 5: the music that's in it. Uh, so many bits that
- 29:11Speaker 5: I don't think it's just because I know all you guys,
- 29:13Speaker 5: but like that live on from this movie.
- 29:15Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 29:16Speaker 5: That are still like referenced quotes, all these things.
- 29:18Speaker 3: We'll talk about all that.
- 29:20Speaker 5: Um, but yeah, I just overall, um, My take is
- 29:24Speaker 5: just this movie is super, super fun.
- 29:26Speaker 3: It's definitely better than 44% and 67%. Or 67%. That's insane, honestly.
- 29:32Speaker 3: I feel like every movie we do together is below 60,
- 29:35Speaker 3: I feel like. That is true, but... Maybe it's just,
- 29:38Speaker 3: are we just dumb? I don't know. Well, that definitely
- 29:41Speaker 3: is true. Both parts can be true. I'm fine with that.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Look at me. I mean, look at me.
- 29:47Speaker 5: On the bell curve, there's happiness over here, for sure.
- 29:51Speaker 3: My head's killing me. I don't want to see it.
- 29:55Speaker 5: Um... But yeah, I'm not going to belabor it too
- 29:57Speaker 5: much because I think you guys are all going to
- 29:59Speaker 5: have much better things to say. I will say my
- 30:01Speaker 5: hottest take is for a man named Guapo.
- 30:05Speaker 3: He looks rough for 40 years old. That's all I'm
- 30:08Speaker 3: going to say. Yeah, dude. When I was reminded that
- 30:11Speaker 3: it was his 40th birthday, I was like, dang.
- 30:14Speaker 5: That made me feel pretty good, honestly.
- 30:16Speaker 3: We all older than him. I feel pretty good. I'm
- 30:18Speaker 3: not kidding. I'm not doing too bad. But yeah, El Guapo,
- 30:22Speaker 3: my patootie. You know what I mean? SPF, sir? Yeah,
- 30:26Speaker 3: let's do a little sunscreen. Maybe some concealer. I don't know.
- 30:31Speaker 3: But yeah, that was all I had.
- 30:33Speaker 4: That's a hot take, buddy.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Similar, this was not a movie that I watched a
- 30:38Speaker 3: lot as a kid. Oh, I didn't know that. Fun.
- 30:41Speaker 3: It was not part of the rotation. It was not
- 30:44Speaker 3: until Benny quoted it so much. Sure, sure.
- 30:49Speaker 4: I didn't see it until like high school.
- 30:51Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Easy.
- 30:52Speaker 4: And it's so funny because this is like for sure.
- 30:56Speaker 4: This would have been my family's like favorite movie ever.
- 30:59Speaker 4: So it's weird that we didn't. And my dad said
- 31:01Speaker 4: that he didn't watch.
- 31:01Speaker 3: It until later. Interesting.
- 31:04Speaker 4: So it was just one that we kind of missed.
- 31:05Speaker 4: But I've seen it quite a few times since then.
- 31:11Speaker 4: This is written by Steve Martin, Lorne Michaels and Randy Newman.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Randy Newman's only writing credit.
- 31:17Speaker 3: I love that.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Directed by John Landis, who's done some of our favorite
- 31:22Speaker 4: movies like Animal House, The Blues Brothers, Trading Places, Coming
- 31:27Speaker 4: to America.
- 31:29Speaker 3: So funny.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Comes out of the gate with the funny. They hold
- 31:33Speaker 4: that high note for what feels like forever.
- 31:36Speaker 3: It's 17 seconds.
- 31:37Speaker 4: 17 seconds.
- 31:39Speaker 3: So funny. The goofy costumes.
- 31:41Speaker 4: You know what you're getting into right out the gate,
- 31:44Speaker 4: which is wonderful. Three main actors are great. The music's fun.
- 31:49Speaker 3: The plot is really fun, which would later be stolen
- 31:51Speaker 3: by Galaxy Quest. which is also true. Wonderful. So fun.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Um, and yeah, my only regret, uh, with this movie
- 32:00Speaker 4: is that I didn't, I didn't watch it earlier. Um,
- 32:03Speaker 4: hot take, uh, Randy Newman might be my dude. He's
- 32:07Speaker 4: the MVP. Had it not had these musical numbers in it,
- 32:10Speaker 4: I don't think it would be as funny.
- 32:12Speaker 3: They're so good. They were so great. They're so good.
- 32:15Speaker 3: And apparently he wrote a line that Steve Martin found
- 32:19Speaker 3: to be the funniest one ever. And, uh, I love it.
- 32:23Speaker 3: Love it.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Hot take.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Hot. Why don't I go next?
- 32:27Speaker 6: We'll let the sombrero go last.
- 32:31Speaker 3: I was going to go next.
- 32:37Speaker 6: This movie predates my memories. Unlike you, I don't know
- 32:42Speaker 6: a life without this movie.
- 32:44Speaker 4: That sounds like a great life.
- 32:45Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 32:46Speaker 6: Being the youngest of three, I probably saw this at
- 32:49Speaker 6: three or four years old.
- 32:50Speaker 3: I don't. I don't know what life is like without it.
- 32:54Speaker 3: And it's incredible.
- 32:56Speaker 6: I do kind of find it's harder to come up
- 32:58Speaker 6: with stuff when you've seen a movie this many times.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Sure, sure. We also talked about just how, I think,
- 33:04Speaker 3: because we wanted to do this so bad, we felt
- 33:06Speaker 3: a little pressure. Like, how do you come up with
- 33:09Speaker 3: a hot take? You don't have to feel pressure. I
- 33:11Speaker 3: was like, I've got to come up with a hot take.
- 33:13Speaker 3: It's got to be hot. It's got to be hot
- 33:14Speaker 3: like my head. No, there are dozens of ears listening
- 33:17Speaker 3: to you right now. Sure. Dozens. Dozens.
- 33:21Speaker 6: My hot take is that the first half of this
- 33:24Speaker 6: movie is better by far than the second.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 33:29Speaker 6: Mainly because of the movie trope, which Robbie jumped in on,
- 33:34Speaker 6: of movie characters that don't know they're in a real situation.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Yeah, sure. I do love that. Scouts Quest is a
- 33:40Speaker 3: good one. Tropic Thunder. Tropic Thunder. There's a good one.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys have seen it. The
- 33:45Speaker 3: Man Who Knew Too Little with Bill Murray. Bill Murray. Yes.
- 33:48Speaker 3: I haven't seen that one. It's great. Very good. It
- 33:50Speaker 3: is really fun. Nobody knows that movie. Very few. Sure.
- 33:54Speaker 3: But the three of these guys play that so well.
- 33:56Speaker 3: That obtuse comedy. Yes.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Not knowing what's going on. It fits all three of
- 34:02Speaker 6: them so well. That 30 minutes from when they get
- 34:06Speaker 6: to Mexico... to when they figure out it's real.
- 34:10Speaker 3: It's just gold. They're just cooking the whole time. Every
- 34:13Speaker 3: scene is incredible. I love that. I super agree with that, too.
- 34:19Speaker 6: But I do love the second act.
- 34:24Speaker 3: My favorite scene is probably in there, but I won't
- 34:26Speaker 3: step on that yet. Got you, got you. Likewise, this
- 34:32Speaker 3: was a very important film to me. In fact, I'll
- 34:37Speaker 3: just I'll just say, I have a conscious memory, because
- 34:42Speaker 3: when they do the singing bush, we'll talk about it later,
- 34:45Speaker 3: and they all do their thing, and Dusty shoots the
- 34:51Speaker 3: invisible swordsman. He goes, how was I supposed to know
- 34:55Speaker 3: where he was? And Steve Martin goes, you were supposed
- 34:58Speaker 3: to fire up. We both fired up. And then he says,
- 35:02Speaker 3: it's like living with a six-year-old. And I specifically remember thinking,
- 35:07Speaker 3: I'm six. I knew the instructions. Amazing. That's amazing. I
- 35:11Speaker 3: was offended that he said that because I was like,
- 35:13Speaker 3: I'm six. Love that, dude. And I knew what to do.
- 35:16Speaker 3: So why does that mean anything? So that's how long
- 35:19Speaker 3: this movie's been in my life. Love that.
- 35:22Speaker 5: You began to pen a letter to the director just immediately.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Mr. Landis. I think... I mean, we'd be remiss not
- 35:31Speaker 3: to just mention, I think some of these scores are
- 35:34Speaker 3: low because I think people... would like to call this
- 35:38Speaker 3: like a white savior slash, you know, cultural appropriation sort
- 35:42Speaker 3: of movie. Okay. Which I get it. I get it
- 35:45Speaker 3: a little bit. However, I really feel like it's in
- 35:49Speaker 3: the world of Tropic Thunder where they are consciously making
- 35:52Speaker 3: fun of the fact that they are these movie stars
- 35:55Speaker 3: in this time period who absolutely should not be playing Mexicans,
- 35:59Speaker 3: let alone, you know, they're idiots. So I feel like
- 36:03Speaker 3: they're kind of making fun of it as a whole.
- 36:07Speaker 3: And people have, you know, I've also read they sort
- 36:08Speaker 3: of stereotype Mexicans. I'm like, that's fair. But also, like, look,
- 36:12Speaker 3: Carmen is a very strong woman character. She gets a
- 36:15Speaker 3: lot done in this movie. She's much smarter than them.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I don't know. I think it catches a little flack
- 36:22Speaker 3: where maybe it shouldn't. Yeah, that's interesting. So I just
- 36:25Speaker 3: thought that was worth mentioning. Yeah, that is worth mentioning.
- 36:28Speaker 3: That's probably why the score isn't as high. I don't
- 36:31Speaker 3: even think about that. I also think we get a
- 36:34Speaker 3: ton of comedy duos, but it's rare we've gotten a
- 36:37Speaker 3: comedy trifecta like this. And they were all at different points. Like,
- 36:44Speaker 3: Chevy was kind of a big star at this moment. Huge.
- 36:47Speaker 3: He was probably the biggest, right? He was the biggest.
- 36:50Speaker 3: At that point? He had already done a bunch of movies,
- 36:52Speaker 3: and he was trying to be a real movie star.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Little did everyone know he was an a-hole, and we
- 36:58Speaker 3: can talk about that later. Yeah, apparently. Right. But Steve
- 37:00Speaker 3: Martin was also a big star, but for comedy, not
- 37:03Speaker 3: yet for movies. Right. And Martin Short was, like, kind
- 37:06Speaker 3: of a nobody. Sure. And so it's funny, because this
- 37:09Speaker 3: is where Steve Martin and Martin Short met and started
- 37:13Speaker 3: this lifelong friendship and team-up. Which is so wild. But, like, it's...
- 37:18Speaker 3: So it's our introduction, basically, to Martin Short. I would
- 37:21Speaker 3: say it's Steve Martin's intro as, like, a leading man....
- 37:26Speaker 4: I mean, you have the jerk. You definitely have the jerk.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean like an actual, like, he's kind
- 37:30Speaker 3: of a romantic lead, like could actually maybe be like
- 37:34Speaker 3: a leading man in a real movie. Okay, sure. But
- 37:37Speaker 3: I also think they just all bring different, we can
- 37:39Speaker 3: talk more about this than actors, but I love this
- 37:43Speaker 3: movie so much. It's one of my favorite movies of
- 37:45Speaker 3: all time. My hot take is I think it's the best,
- 37:49Speaker 3: this is pretty hot, I think it's the best Lorne
- 37:51Speaker 3: Michaels produced movie.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Film that's good dude not.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Necessarily snl cast member film but best lauren michaels produced.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Yep film i that was one of the ones i
- 38:03Speaker 4: was thinking about doing for a top five.
- 38:05Speaker 3: So i looked at those they're not enough and there's
- 38:08Speaker 3: not enough yeah shockingly didn't have enough yeah but yeah
- 38:15Speaker 3: i think.
- 38:15Speaker 4: He produced wayne's world and that's.
- 38:17Speaker 3: The only one and that would be the that would
- 38:18Speaker 3: be the real that So different. But, yeah, we can
- 38:25Speaker 3: get into more about it. I like it. Love that. Hot.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Hot takes. That was hot, bro. Hot takes all around. Scorching.
- 38:33Speaker 3: With that, real quick, I was like, oh, pop that
- 38:35Speaker 3: hat off. Pop that baby off there. There it is. Oh,
- 38:38Speaker 3: look at this one. Beauty. I love that tan Viking hat. Represent.
- 38:47Speaker 3: That was wonderful. Hot take. Take that off, too. Leave
- 38:50Speaker 3: the frilly shirt, though, if you would. Appreciate it. Keep
- 38:53Speaker 3: that shirt on. You're right. No, you're right. No, no.
- 38:57Speaker 3: Be comfortable. Get comfortable, baby.
- 39:00Speaker 4: Let's do our favorite action performance. Let's choose the dude.
- 39:04Speaker 3: The dude. I'm the dude. So that's what you call me,
- 39:07Speaker 3: you know?
- 39:09Speaker 5: That or his dudeness or duder or, you know, El Duderino,
- 39:14Speaker 5: if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 39:16Speaker 4: You guys want to go first?
- 39:17Speaker 3: Who's your dude? I'm just going to say off the bat,
- 39:19Speaker 3: this is one of the toughest category movies of all time.
- 39:23Speaker 6: Well, this is why I wanted to do this so bad,
- 39:25Speaker 6: because I think this is possibly the greatest debated... dude category,
- 39:31Speaker 6: because you have three comedic legends all doing the peak
- 39:37Speaker 6: of what they're good at, with exactly the same screen time.
- 39:42Speaker 6: They're not competing with each other at all. And That's
- 39:49Speaker 6: why I just, it's very hard to choose. So I
- 39:52Speaker 6: tried to do a little ranking system with three categories.
- 39:58Speaker 3: I love this. The first one is importance to plot. Okay.
- 40:03Speaker 6: And this one I gave to Martin Short because he
- 40:07Speaker 6: is the one who decides to stay.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Yep. He wins the shootout. Yep.
- 40:12Speaker 6: And he flies the plane back. And he gives the
- 40:15Speaker 6: speech that gets him to go. He does the locker
- 40:19Speaker 6: room speech.
- 40:19Speaker 3: He gives the locker room speech to get him to sew.
- 40:22Speaker 3: Love it. The next category. The next category.
- 40:27Speaker 6: It's so good. The next category is best lines, which
- 40:33Speaker 6: we won't get into yet. But I gave this to
- 40:36Speaker 6: Steve Martin. And then the third category was stupidity in
- 40:40Speaker 6: a good way. The stupidest wins, which is Chevy Chase.
- 40:46Speaker 6: So they all get a category. Then when I added
- 40:49Speaker 6: them all up, though, Chase was in third, but I
- 40:52Speaker 6: still had Short.
- 40:55Speaker 3: And Steve tied. Tied.
- 40:58Speaker 6: That's how close this is. So I had to give
- 41:01Speaker 6: it to the OG amigo, Steve Martin.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Boom. I love the thought behind all this. Me too.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Can I just piggyback? Can I just continue right off that? Piggyback, please.
- 41:12Speaker 3: That is so wonderful and very well thought out. My God.
- 41:17Speaker 3: My God in heaven. Because I just think, to your point,
- 41:26Speaker 3: Steve Martin, Chevy Chase is Mr. Subtlety. Yeah. He's so understated.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Martin Short is Mr., like.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Kind of over the top and big. And Steve Martin's
- 41:38Speaker 3: like right in the middle. He can kind of do both.
- 41:42Speaker 3: And they play off each other so well. And that's
- 41:45Speaker 3: why we have so many great duos. But for three
- 41:50Speaker 3: to do it together and for no one to really
- 41:52Speaker 3: step on each other's toes in a comedy like this
- 41:56Speaker 3: and to compliment each other is very difficult. Like I
- 42:00Speaker 3: really can't think of many examples of this where they're
- 42:04Speaker 3: just such a good Because really, like, you could kind
- 42:08Speaker 3: of put them all, they could all, well, we saw
- 42:10Speaker 3: them all lead movies. Yeah. Like, they all could do,
- 42:14Speaker 3: they could kind of all switch and play each other's roles,
- 42:18Speaker 3: you know, if they had to. But they're just so
- 42:22Speaker 3: good at their individual strengths. And it's amazing that it
- 42:27Speaker 3: works so well. And that's such a great ranking.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Which leads me to my choice. All of that to say,
- 42:39Speaker 3: it's hard not to give it to Steve Martin because
- 42:41Speaker 3: he's clearly like the leader and it was his idea.
- 42:45Speaker 3: And yeah, he's, he does so much. He does. So
- 42:52Speaker 3: you certainly won't be wrong. That's for sure.
- 42:55Speaker 5: I do.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Just the honorable mention for Martin short is just, yeah.
- 43:00Speaker 3: He does so much, but they all do. So I
- 43:02Speaker 3: guess I just got to go old Steve-O because damn.
- 43:05Speaker 3: Love it.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Because damn, I'm also going Steve-O. One of my favorites
- 43:09Speaker 4: of all time. His timing and delivery is insane.
- 43:12Speaker 3: So good. One of the funniest people in the history
- 43:15Speaker 3: of the world. And his physical comedy. So good, dude.
- 43:22Speaker 3: It's so good. So, yes, I agree with you. I
- 43:28Speaker 3: really had a hard time with this as well.
- 43:30Speaker 5: I didn't go so far as to do a sort
- 43:32Speaker 5: of like essay on.
- 43:34Speaker 3: That was very well done. It was great. Ranking a rubric.
- 43:43Speaker 3: I ended up going Steve Martin as well. It's a
- 43:45Speaker 3: clean sweep.
- 43:46Speaker 5: I really almost picked Martin short, but I.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Just, it was definitely between those two.
- 43:50Speaker 3: I think Steve Martin had to do just a tiny
- 43:53Speaker 3: bit more.
- 43:54Speaker 5: And that was why I was like, guess i'm gonna
- 43:56Speaker 5: go and they're all great i'm not saying that but
- 43:59Speaker 5: yeah the way he can go back and forth between
- 44:01Speaker 5: like he delivers really silly lines can kind of do
- 44:06Speaker 5: some like lovey-dovey stuff but then the physical comedy like.
- 44:09Speaker 3: He really does everything he needs.
- 44:12Speaker 5: To do in this um and yeah so i pick
- 44:15Speaker 5: steve martin as well love it.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Boom clean but martin's short for being like a kind
- 44:22Speaker 3: of a nobody god what a what.
- 44:24Speaker 4: A burst onto the scene And to hold his own
- 44:27Speaker 4: with those two legends is insane.
- 44:30Speaker 3: And to Gade's point, he does everything. He's so good
- 44:36Speaker 3: at being the actor-y actor. We'll get into some of that.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Maybe this is, dude, Dorothy Gish. Don't even get us started.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Don't even get us started. You're stepping, man. You're stepping.
- 44:50Speaker 3: But then he's able to bring it down and, like
- 44:53Speaker 3: you said, do the locker room speech. Oh, God. So great.
- 44:58Speaker 3: And then he keeps doing stuff that kind of impresses,
- 45:01Speaker 3: like when he starts singing or the girl at the end.
- 45:04Speaker 3: We'll talk about it later.
- 45:06Speaker 5: He's like a little bit Leslie Knope in that he
- 45:08Speaker 5: can just kind of do everything.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Yes. You know what I mean?
- 45:12Speaker 4: Um, I, maybe this should have been my hot take.
- 45:15Speaker 5: He might be the funniest person to ever exist. Like I,
- 45:19Speaker 5: I love his brand of comedy so much. It cracks
- 45:22Speaker 5: me up. I don't know if you guys know this
- 45:24Speaker 5: about me, but I'm a little bit over the top.
- 45:26Speaker 5: So I really appreciate that from him.
- 45:29Speaker 3: You don't say. He just goes bald. And his, uh,
- 45:33Speaker 3: What's that? Jiminy Glick. Jiminy Glick. Oh, my God. It's
- 45:36Speaker 3: the funniest thing. It is so funny.
- 45:38Speaker 5: Maybe I've ever seen. I mean, I've never seen a
- 45:41Speaker 5: clip of that and not just giggle.
- 45:43Speaker 3: But you have to watch the whole clip. Like, yeah,
- 45:45Speaker 3: it's so, so good.
- 45:48Speaker 6: I still love just watching Steve Martin and Martin Short
- 45:50Speaker 6: just do, like, interviews together.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Yes, anything. And they're just, like, not each other, but they're, like,
- 45:57Speaker 3: best friends.
- 45:58Speaker 5: But they do it in, like, it's not mean, but
- 46:01Speaker 5: it is, like, they do, like, they go at each other,
- 46:04Speaker 5: but in, like, the nicest way somehow.
- 46:06Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 46:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 46:08Speaker 4: They get mean, but you know that it's with love.
- 46:10Speaker 3: Maybe that's why. Yeah, right, right. Well, you know the
- 46:13Speaker 3: other one's laughing, and then they go, and then they
- 46:15Speaker 3: give it right back. Yeah, yeah, totally. Well, and the
- 46:19Speaker 3: fact that they met on this movie is so awesome.
- 46:21Speaker 3: That is crazy.
- 46:24Speaker 4: On my 40th birthday, Kelsey got me tickets when they
- 46:28Speaker 4: were doing their two-man.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Show in Chicago. Love it.
- 46:32Speaker 4: And it's one of the coolest things I've ever gotten
- 46:34Speaker 4: to see live.
- 46:36Speaker 3: We bought them for Gary and Sheila, and they had
- 46:38Speaker 3: to cancel because.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Oh.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Was it COVID-y?
- 46:43Speaker 5: No.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Oh, no. This was like this last year. Oh, okay.
- 46:48Speaker 3: And something like Martin Short's. Oh, that did happen. Oh, yeah.
- 46:54Speaker 3: That did, yeah. So they had to. Cancel it. Oh, bummer, dude.
- 46:58Speaker 3: I forgot about that. It's such an amazing. Have you
- 47:00Speaker 3: seen it on Netflix? I've seen like chunks. Oh, God.
- 47:05Speaker 3: I should really watch that.
- 47:06Speaker 4: It's so much fun. And just the fact that those
- 47:09Speaker 4: two are still doing it.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Also says a lot.
- 47:12Speaker 5: About Chevy that they've done everything together and he's just
- 47:15Speaker 5: not invited.
- 47:16Speaker 3: No thanks, pal. I think there's a reason for that.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Chevy has zero bridges around him. It's for real. They've
- 47:23Speaker 3: been destroyed by fire. Burned ash around him. Yeah, for sure.
- 47:28Speaker 4: Well, should we talk some of the other folks in
- 47:30Speaker 4: this movie?
- 47:30Speaker 3: Of course. The 2G. The 2G Lord. Yeah, one of
- 47:36Speaker 3: you guys.
- 47:37Speaker 6: I'm kind of I'm kind of pissed Robbie brought her
- 47:39Speaker 6: up because I almost gave the Tucci to Dorothy Gish.
- 47:43Speaker 3: To Dorothy Gish. I'm so sorry. I stepped on it.
- 47:47Speaker 3: I'm so sorry. Even though she's not in the film.
- 47:50Speaker 3: It's so good, though. God, it's just our favorite thing ever.
- 47:55Speaker 3: It's so funny, dude. And you just see these little kids.
- 47:58Speaker 3: They're just like, what? What's happening right now?
- 48:01Speaker 4: Why is he telling us?
- 48:02Speaker 3: He can't speak English. Like he's on The Tonight Show. Yeah.
- 48:08Speaker 6: Nobody probably even knows what he's saying, let alone talking about.
- 48:12Speaker 3: He's inside the actor's studio or something. It's a true story.
- 48:18Speaker 3: It's one of those things we always go, and.
- 48:23Speaker 3: It's a true story. It is so good, dude. Yeah,
- 48:27Speaker 3: that's great. But no, I can't give it to her
- 48:29Speaker 3: because she's not even in the movie. So I'm going
- 48:31Speaker 3: to give it to Hefe, Tony Plana. Oh, nice. He
- 48:36Speaker 3: was great. He really is great. He has a crazy
- 48:39Speaker 3: eye to be. I bet.
- 48:40Speaker 4: I feel like I've seen him in so many things.
- 48:42Speaker 3: He's been in a lot of stuff. Character actor. He's
- 48:44Speaker 3: in over 200 credits. Wow. Yeah. 230.
- 48:50Speaker 4: Crazy i feel like i couldn't tell you many off
- 48:52Speaker 4: the top of my head but i know i've seen
- 48:54Speaker 4: him in so many things.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Actually i was just talking to gate about one movie
- 48:58Speaker 3: where he plays the bad guy it's a dynamite movie
- 49:01Speaker 3: and everyone should see it's a very little known uh
- 49:03Speaker 3: it's michael keaton and renee russo it's like 90 or
- 49:08Speaker 3: 91 it's right after batman i think it's called one
- 49:10Speaker 3: good one good cop it's so good yeah I did
- 49:14Speaker 3: see that. Yeah, he is the bad guy. Anthony LaPaglia
- 49:17Speaker 3: plays his other cops. It's very good. I liked that movie.
- 49:21Speaker 3: Such a good movie. Writing that down. And yeah, Tony
- 49:26Speaker 3: Plano's the bad guy, and he's great. Nice. Love that.
- 49:31Speaker 3: That's cool. That's fun. Yeah, he was great. Right hand man.
- 49:34Speaker 3: I loved him. Yeah, I would just... I would also just...
- 49:38Speaker 3: El Guapo, they're great villains. Yeah. Like, they're really, like,
- 49:42Speaker 3: fun and... Alfonso Arrau. Yeah. Like, El Guapo, I mean, he's, like, fun.
- 49:50Speaker 3: He's an amateur photographer. He's not here. Yeah, he's... Dude.
- 49:55Speaker 3: And they say some of the funniest lines. I mean... Yeah,
- 49:57Speaker 3: and he's got great... Like, they really let them also
- 50:00Speaker 3: have fun, but they're not... They're still kind of scary
- 50:03Speaker 3: and evil, but they're... they're not one dimensional villains. They
- 50:08Speaker 3: did a very good job with them. They could have
- 50:10Speaker 3: been way more stereotypical and way more just angry and sure.
- 50:15Speaker 3: Trying to be scary. Yeah. Or, or they could have
- 50:18Speaker 3: gone the other way and they could have been too goofy. Yeah. Right.
- 50:22Speaker 3: And I feel like you're like the perfect mix. Oh God.
- 50:28Speaker 3: I don't even know. What about the bar? Maybe the bartender. Oh,
- 50:33Speaker 3: he's good. I love that guy. What's his name? I
- 50:39Speaker 3: loved seeing... His name is Fred Asparagus. Asparagus?
- 50:44Speaker 4: Fred Asparagus.
- 50:46Speaker 3: That's his last name? That's his real last name. Wow. Also,
- 50:51Speaker 3: opening with the Joe Mantegna, John Lovitz, Phil Hartman trio
- 50:54Speaker 3: is pretty elite. Pretty great.
- 50:57Speaker 4: It really made me miss Phil. I loved Phil so much.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Phil's so good, dude. Once again, he just has like
- 51:03Speaker 3: three lines and he just crushes. It's amazing. I still
- 51:07Speaker 3: watch news radio. Oh, nice, dude. Love that. Yeah, that
- 51:13Speaker 3: was fun. Yeah. That's a good one.
- 51:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 51:16Speaker 3: Who are you going to pick, Rob? I don't really
- 51:18Speaker 3: pick anyone. What do you guys got?
- 51:19Speaker 4: Obviously, I would have picked Martin Short, and then it
- 51:21Speaker 4: would have been Chevy Chase, and then all the people
- 51:23Speaker 4: that you just said. We also had, what, Patrice Martinez
- 51:26Speaker 4: as Carmen.
- 51:27Speaker 3: She was lovely. Victor. Yeah, she was good. I will say,
- 51:32Speaker 3: I've said this a few times the last few days.
- 51:34Speaker 3: I appreciate that, and we've talked about this in other
- 51:36Speaker 3: movies in this era, Ghostbusters and whatnot. The three of
- 51:41Speaker 3: them are in this comedy, and they're doing their goofy stuff.
- 51:45Speaker 3: No one else in this movie thinks they're in a comedy.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Everyone else is in is in a period Western action movie.
- 51:54Speaker 3: And I love that. It makes the movie so much better. Yeah.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Like I know El Guapo and have they have some
- 51:59Speaker 3: like funny lines. But again, they're not like over the
- 52:02Speaker 3: top there. I just I just think that everyone else
- 52:06Speaker 3: takes it very seriously and it makes it so much
- 52:08Speaker 3: better to just let these three be the goofy ones. Yeah.
- 52:11Speaker 4: Just let them cook.
- 52:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:13Speaker 3: It's pretty great. It's great. Like everyone is very good. Yeah.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Did you have anybody else? We've kind of said everyone
- 52:22Speaker 3: I would have. I would have probably.
- 52:24Speaker 5: Well, other than three main dudes, I would have said
- 52:26Speaker 5: Tony Plata, I think, because I loved him.
- 52:28Speaker 3: I thought he was really good and despicable. Yeah. So
- 52:32Speaker 3: no one else extra to add.
- 52:36Speaker 4: Although I will maybe I'll choose this to.
- 52:38Speaker 5: Say, boy, they really the the news about Chevy being
- 52:42Speaker 5: a jerk really has colored my opinion of him, because
- 52:45Speaker 5: every time now I'm like, yeah, you're funny, but like
- 52:48Speaker 5: you suck.
- 52:49Speaker 3: But God, he really is so good at what he
- 52:51Speaker 3: does perfectly in this subtlety is just.
- 52:57Speaker 4: And just play. He played real dumb. You know, I
- 52:59Speaker 4: feel like a lot of times he's.
- 53:01Speaker 3: He's this like really arrogant yeah he does where this
- 53:05Speaker 3: guy was more likable Clark Griswold Clark Griswold is very
- 53:08Speaker 3: like snide and oh yeah big time but his comedy
- 53:13Speaker 3: is still the same I always think of him walking
- 53:16Speaker 3: up to the crushed car in the beginning of Vacation
- 53:20Speaker 3: and he just walks all the way up and tries
- 53:22Speaker 3: to open the door and never never reacts to it
- 53:25Speaker 3: until he's I don't know he just yeah that is
- 53:29Speaker 3: great but yeah it sucks that he sucks Yeah, right.
- 53:33Speaker 3: That's a bummer. Sorry.
- 53:35Speaker 5: But yeah, those were all the folks I had. We
- 53:37Speaker 5: could talk about our favorite scene, though. Shall we name
- 53:40Speaker 5: the dingus?
- 53:41Speaker 3: The dingus. The dingus is quite simple, really. Dingus. Dingus.
- 53:45Speaker 3: I could talk about my dingus all night long. I'm
- 53:47Speaker 3: going to kiss you, dingus. Good day, sir. It's a
- 53:51Speaker 3: tough one. This is like the toughest one we've ever had.
- 53:54Speaker 3: It's tough. It's difficult. I'm so curious to hear everyone's
- 53:58Speaker 3: answer for this. Do you want to go first?
- 54:01Speaker 4: How many did you write down?
- 54:03Speaker 3: I didn't. I wrote zero down because I'm five. Yeah.
- 54:10Speaker 3: I had seven. And I'll just go off my hottest take.
- 54:14Speaker 6: I do think that the cell room scene.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Might be my favorite. You mean Steve Martin's one-act play?
- 54:22Speaker 3: Steve Martin's one-act play that he performs in the cell?
- 54:25Speaker 3: I remember as a kid just thinking that was the
- 54:27Speaker 3: funniest thing ever. So good. It's the ultimate display of
- 54:31Speaker 3: Steve Martin's physical comedy skills. It really is. He's so
- 54:34Speaker 3: good at it. And I know they're cutting in and out,
- 54:37Speaker 3: but it goes on for like a while. A long time. Yeah, dude.
- 54:43Speaker 4: So I just wait here then?
- 54:46Speaker 3: Just wait here then? Also, however we were just talking about,
- 54:50Speaker 3: however they slam him back from like 15 feet away
- 54:54Speaker 3: into that wall looks brutal. It does. I'm sure it's
- 55:00Speaker 3: a stunt man or whatever, but yeesh. Yeah. That's what
- 55:04Speaker 3: you're picking? That's your scene? I love that. I think so.
- 55:08Speaker 3: I love that. I like it.
- 55:10Speaker 4: Not a lot of folks can do that physical comedy
- 55:12Speaker 4: like Steve Martin.
- 55:14Speaker 3: Wow. That's great. Benny, what are you going to pick?
- 55:21Speaker 3: As a kid, I mean, as a kid, him doing
- 55:27Speaker 3: the wall bit with the up here, up here. Like,
- 55:31Speaker 3: oh my God. That's so fun when I quote the most. Also,
- 55:35Speaker 3: I love like a suit up moment. Like that through them, adios,
- 55:42Speaker 3: ha ha, and getting their costumes is pretty epic for me.
- 55:46Speaker 3: That was like, as a kid, that really got me
- 55:48Speaker 3: juiced up because, you know, it's almost, like I talk
- 55:51Speaker 3: about like with Ghostbusters, like it's almost like a superhero
- 55:54Speaker 3: movie a little bit. Yes. Yeah, totally. Um, I would
- 55:58Speaker 3: maybe say, I guess for this purposes of this pod,
- 56:03Speaker 3: I would probably say when El Guapo first comes to
- 56:08Speaker 3: Santa Poco with all the guys, and they come out
- 56:11Speaker 3: and they try to do the thing again, because it's
- 56:14Speaker 3: sort of like funny, but also then gets serious.
- 56:18Speaker 5: They get so scared, which is so great.
- 56:20Speaker 3: And then they do the crying thing, and just... I
- 56:24Speaker 3: feel like it's a nice, like, just quick look at
- 56:27Speaker 3: the whole movie. Yeah. The whole story of the movie
- 56:31Speaker 3: in one big scene.
- 56:34Speaker 4: Have you seen that clip of Matt Damon talking about
- 56:38Speaker 4: how much that scene means to him and his family?
- 56:41Speaker 3: No.
- 56:41Speaker 4: That's amazing. Just real quick aside, his dad was on
- 56:48Speaker 4: his deathbed, and they found out, like, the cancer was just.
- 56:52Speaker 3: All over the place. Sure, sure. And he's like, you
- 56:55Speaker 3: guys come here. And he just goes, it's real. And
- 56:59Speaker 3: it's just like him and his brother just start laughing.
- 57:04Speaker 3: And just like this movie has been a.
- 57:07Speaker 4: Part of their, their whole life.
- 57:09Speaker 1: Wow.
- 57:09Speaker 3: And just how much that meant.
- 57:12Speaker 5: That's wonderful. I, that's really great.
- 57:16Speaker 3: I love that so much. It makes me say, Benny's
- 57:19Speaker 3: going to start tearing up. Same. that's good I didn't
- 57:26Speaker 3: know that it makes me it makes me trip because
- 57:28Speaker 3: I was also another aside because I was just home
- 57:32Speaker 3: too to this day when I'm home and I because
- 57:36Speaker 3: when I'm at my parents house I sleep downstairs in
- 57:39Speaker 3: their basement and when I say goodnight I say goodnight
- 57:42Speaker 3: and me and my dad still go goodnight Ned goodnight
- 57:46Speaker 3: Ned we still do it we've done it forever love
- 57:51Speaker 3: it that's.
- 57:51Speaker 4: The best Um, that's a great scene. I had that
- 57:55Speaker 4: scene done as well.
- 57:57Speaker 3: Um, I just think that my little buttercup.
- 58:00Speaker 4: Scene is, it's set up so well with the German
- 58:07Speaker 4: coming in, explaining he has scary friends coming.
- 58:10Speaker 3: Oh God. We didn't really talk about the German.
- 58:13Speaker 4: All of the, yeah, we didn't, we didn't bring him up.
- 58:14Speaker 3: Good call.
- 58:16Speaker 4: But the, uh, the bar patrons are then all scared
- 58:21Speaker 4: of them.
- 58:21Speaker 3: So good.
- 58:23Speaker 4: And the tequila shots are amazing. But just, yeah, the
- 58:27Speaker 4: song and dance and everyone else just being so scared
- 58:30Speaker 4: of them is just amazing. I mean, because that would
- 58:35Speaker 4: be terrifying. The song's great, too, on top of it.
- 58:38Speaker 3: And it's so fun. Also, it comes out of nowhere.
- 58:43Speaker 3: You're just like, what? What are they going to do?
- 58:47Speaker 3: and the dance and oh my god it's so good
- 58:51Speaker 3: at some point i i do want to say it
- 58:53Speaker 3: because because bugues mentioned it before last night we watched
- 58:57Speaker 3: this last night and tonight and last night i watched
- 59:01Speaker 3: it and all i did was make the bit list.
- 59:04Speaker 5: Yes just a list of all their bits they're so
- 59:09Speaker 5: good because there's.
- 59:10Speaker 3: So many and i'm just every one of them is
- 59:13Speaker 3: crazy and.
- 59:14Speaker 5: I'm gold yeah i love that i think i would
- 59:17Speaker 5: pick when guapo comes to town and they realize it's
- 59:20Speaker 5: real that that scene is the one that stood out
- 59:23Speaker 5: to me it is so great so uh i also
- 59:27Speaker 5: thought Blue shadows across the trail crack me up in
- 59:30Speaker 5: a real, a real.
- 59:31Speaker 3: Big, real way. All the animals. Very campy. The animals
- 59:36Speaker 3: are all doing their thing. So ridiculous. So silly and great.
- 59:40Speaker 3: I love that so much.
- 59:42Speaker 5: And then just Martin Short in the shootout thing, like
- 59:46Speaker 5: where they have to draw and all that. When he
- 59:49Speaker 5: takes the gun out and it's heavy.
- 59:50Speaker 3: And all that, like that, it's perfect. I love that
- 59:54Speaker 3: so much. It's just, it's great.
- 59:57Speaker 4: I wish that I could think of 20 quick draw
- 59:59Speaker 4: movies because some of my favorite movies have that in them.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: Agreed.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. I love it. That's a good one.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: But yeah, 20 probably would have been a stretch.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: Yeah. Probably. But yeah.
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: Yeah, those are all good. Another one I threw down
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: was just, well, it's a bit, but the.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: I mean, the horse, the desert. The desert, the canteens.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: I mean, it's so. God, that's so funny. It's so funny.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: And he has sand in his mouth. This movie is
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: so tight. They don't waste any time in this movie,
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: which I give them credit for. But because of that,
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: they get to do that scene, which has no reason
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: for any... does not advance any type of plot. It
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: is just for the bit. He's just spitting out the water.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Another one our whole life, we've gone, lip balm? Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: It's very, I feel like dumb and dumber stole it
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: with the extra gloves in the Rockies a little bit.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Oh, it's the Rockies. Also. Well, he also stole Tic
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: Tac Sir is totally, it's probably watered down. Yeah. Oh
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: my God. That's true. That's true. Oh, that's great. What
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: were some more? You had seven listed.
- 1:01:16Speaker 6: Uh, I also had the, uh, just them breaking into
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: the compound. Um, Oh, particularly like, uh, I love the
- 1:01:25Speaker 6: two crash downs. Steve Martin just going straight into the ground.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Yes. It's the three in a row. Chevy crashes through. Perfect.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: Martin Short gets stuck.
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: Steve Martin just goes straight to the ground in front
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: of everybody.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: And then just with 30 guns around him, goes, seize him.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: That was so funny, dude. So good. He fell so hard.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: And then five minutes later, when Martin Short's character goes
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: crashing into the table... Amigo's falling from the sky!
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: He's just sitting up there watching, too.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: That was tough. Whenever they shoot their guns in the air,
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: he's like.
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: Oh, so good, dude. Yeah. Good call.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: Also, I totally forgot that those the two like guard
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: guys walk past them.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Yeah. And they just freeze like I forgot that happened.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: So dumb and great. I love them. Also, the best
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: example ever of Chevy Chase comedy is is them eating
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: food and him with the touch. The taco and the
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: shit just falling out. Everything falls out. Do you have
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: anything besides Mexican food? Also them putting the three of
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: them on a donkey and then the three of them
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: in the same bed.
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: The three of them on a donkey was pretty great.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: Still probably did better than Peter's donkey in whatever place
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: that was.
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: Poor guy. Wow, that's a good callback. That poor ass.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: It was like it was like a baby donkey. Here, here, Peter. Oh,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: my God. I love it. The Singing Bush. The Singing
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: Bush is pretty great. It's so silly. Again, I'm so
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: impressed by this movie that they're able to do kind
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: of a sweet western action movie and then jump into those.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: There's only a couple super absurd moments. The animal singing
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: and the bush. The Singing Bush.
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: The Bush thing is such a weird.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: It's really kind of only those two where it gets
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: really absurd. Yeah. So funny. I just think it's crazy
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: that they can balance those two things.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: I also love when they're doing stunts in this movie
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: because it's like a Western. They just have the stuntmen... Actually,
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: we should stop.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: But also the stunts in this movie are awesome. No,
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: they're pretty great. They're pretty great. Dude, they do at
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: least like four like full building falls. There's a ton
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: of crazy horse stuff. Yeah. Like the stunts are sweet.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: Steve Martin with.
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: All the like a lasso stuff and whatever, which is
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: really good.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: Yeah. Love it. It's impressive. And also, I'm just going
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: to bring it up now because I meant to bring
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: it up when we did City Slickers. I was so
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: bummed afterwards because I want to talk about the score
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: of City Slickers. Yeah, dude. The score of this movie
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: is the bomb. Yeah, so great.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: .
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: Yeah, it was Elmer Bernstein, right?
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I think so. Incredible. It's how I felt
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: in City Slickers. I was just like, this is elite.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: Also so important to those old Westerns, too. That's what
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: I mean. And John Landis said in an interview, he
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: really wanted to have the feel of a spaghetti Western.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: Definitely has that vibe. They just nailed it. God, it's
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: a good theme. Agreed. Love it. Well, should we move
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: on to our quotes?
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: Should we, uh, show me the money?
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: Show me the money! I need to feel you, Jerry!
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Show me the money! Jerry, you better yell! Show me
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: the money!
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: Well, the reason why I didn't pick my little buttercup
- 1:05:44Speaker 6: scene was because it has a couple of my favorite quotes.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Love it. I'll let you, I'll let Benny lead in first.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: My favorite. They walk in. Excuse me. We're not Mexicans.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: We're from out of town. So ridiculous. Cesar is such
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: a butthole. It's so great. The whitest three humans on
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: the planet dressed just like insane.
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: We're not Mexicans. We're from out of town. We're from
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: out of town. I have a message for you. The
- 1:06:21Speaker 6: German says to wait here.
- 1:06:26Speaker 7: Mmm yeah we use that all the time around windmill
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: when someone will like say something that is super complicated
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: or something mmm yeah.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: That's great I love I love Steve pretending like pretending
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: to know any of them pretending to know yes and
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: then again right into the probably watered down oh So good.
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: Like the two minutes there, it's just on fire. What
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: was tequila? It's like beer. Is it fattening? Fattening? Forget it.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: If it's like beer, we'll have some. Three tequilas. And
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: then the... Oh, their reactions to it is so good.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: They do so many of those. It's an odd taste,
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: isn't it? It's probably watered down. And then into my
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: little buttercup. And then into what still me and my
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: dad do all the time. I think it was a
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: mail plane. How can you tell? Yes. Didn't you notice
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: just little balls? Dude, I just got picked up from
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: the airport two days ago, and Charlie said, do you
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: see that plane's balls? That's right. I forgot your son's
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: got a whole thing with this. Both of them. They
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: say it all the time now because I laughed so hard.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: That's so good. And again, my favorite part is that...
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: Ned thinks it's so funny. Lucky, like, finally gets it
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: after a little bit, and then he's laughing. And Dusty
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: just never gets it. Just is confused. He's just confused
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: the whole time, and then they just move on. It's
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: so good. You guys give us some before we steal.
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: I always loved the, well, we could take a walk
- 1:08:13Speaker 4: and you could kiss me on the veranda.
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: Lips would be fine. It's just the best. God. Lips
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: would be fine. Perfect. We already said Dorothy Gish is
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: the greatest woman in cinema history. That is so funny.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: That whole monologue is... That is amazing. It's incredible. So
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: very old one. So like the wind is just so good.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: Two of my favorites actually come back to back is
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: great job catching the food, Ned. Oh, yeah, thanks. How
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: do you like your bat, Dusty? You think it's like
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: a rabbit or something and then it's bats? Yeah. And
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: then how far do you think we rode before we
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: had to go back and get directions? Just three or
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: four miles. That was good. That was good. Uh, that's great.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Oh man. You can say some bigs.
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: Uh, we used to say when we were touring a lot,
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: not bad for a matinee.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: We said that quite a bit, which is pretty fun.
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: Um, uh, and then the one that is the most, uh,
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: synonymous with this movie in my.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Brain is the many piñatas oh yeah many.
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: Would you say I have a plethora of piñatas amazing
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: a what.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: A plethora oh yes you have a plethora just like I.
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: Don't know why but that cracks me up so much
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: every time and I learned.
- 1:09:39Speaker 6: What plethora meant I remember feeling smart as a kid
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: by knowing what a plethora was I would throw it
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: in all the time To conversations.
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: I just thought that was so funny.
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: I also thought it was so good when he was like,
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: not so fast, Elk Whopper. I'll fill you so full
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: of lead you'll be using your dick for a pencil.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: And he just goes, what do you mean? He's like,
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. So funny. Also,
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: I love he kisses Carmen and then goes, I'll come
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: back one day.
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: Why?
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: Why? His reaction to that is so good, dude. His face.
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: I mean, her lighter is so good. Yeah. Why? Yeah.
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: Or the little kid when he's like, can I have
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: your watch when you're dead?
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: What? What did he say? I also love that it's
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: such a Steve Martin bit, though. Yeah, fellas, I know
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: show business. Something always comes up. Telegram for the three
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: of me goes amazing. That's so good. Yeah, amazing.
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: I love, oh, Dusty, infamous is when you're more than famous.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: This man, El Guapo, he's not just famous, he's infamous.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: Well, it's so funny that this entire plot rests on
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: the word infamous, basically. And You know, when they used
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: to read telegrams, when you got to a period, you
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: would say stop. Yeah. That's how you read it. But
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: he reads the word stop as in it means stop
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: in the telegram. Which is so smart. So good. Wow.
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: Infamous?
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: Infamous? Infamous?
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: I'll give you the 23 cent version or whatever.
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: We're just going to have to use our brains. Damn it.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: Damn it. Yeah, that was good. Yeah, so many. This
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: is one of those we could just read the whole script.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: Every single thing they say is amazing. Yeah.
- 1:11:49Speaker 8: Love it.
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Also, I did want to say, I just wanted to
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: bring up a few historical facts for everyone. In 1916,
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: apparently 100,000 pesos was roughly 4,200 U.S. dollars. Oh, wow.
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: That's a lot. So, like, you know, four grand, a
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: little over four grand, which is probably a lot for them,
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: I guess. Yeah. Not terrible. Not terrible. I don't know if,
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: you know, whatever. I don't know how far that would
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: have gone. Also, I did read a whole thing that
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: the Germans did try to go supply guns and a
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: bunch of stuff to Mexican gangs and things to try
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: to distract the U.S. from World War I stuff. Oh, interesting.
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: So they did sort of pull that storyline from actual history,
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: which I thought was kind of fun. That is fun.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: Because the German dude is such a kind of a
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: random insert of a character and that whole thing. I
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: like that. And I love that he knew Ned so much.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: I know, that part is great. I love that bit.
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: It's actually one of my favorite lines is when he
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: does that whole spiel. Yeah. And he's like, You are
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: a god to me. And Ned goes, a god? I
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: don't know about that, but it is nice to meet
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: a fan. You know, often, like he's doing an interview.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: So good. Oh, god. He's such a butthole. He really is.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: So good. Although I did bring it up a bunch
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: that that German accent goes away real fast when he goes, enough!
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: Take the gun! Let's go! Oh, nice. He's just not
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: German in that moment. That's okay. Whoopsies. That's all right.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: That's wonderful.
- 1:13:27Speaker 4: I do love when they're talking about what they're going
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: to do with their share of the money, and he's like,
- 1:13:31Speaker 4: I'm going to get a big car.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: I'm going to go to Paris, champagne.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: I'm going to start a foundation to help homeless children.
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: Well, I meant that after. I meant that after, yeah. Exactly.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: I would get the car after. Yeah. I love that bit. Yeah.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: I mean, yeah.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: Yeah, those are big ones for me.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: Yeah, same.
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: Anybody else have anything they need to say?
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: I was a little surprised we didn't get, just because
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: there's all these, I'm surprised we didn't get any Steve
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: Martin banjoing in this.
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: That's true.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: Because he's like a world-class banjo player. Oh, dude, he's
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: so good. And they like, I don't know. Yeah, that
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: is interesting. I just thought of that the other day,
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: just because Chevy has the guitar a lot.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: Also, it's fine that he just has the guitar, I guess. Yeah,
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: he's kind of the.
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: And then he plays the piano, too. He's kind of
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: the guy.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: All right, well, then, why don't we move to Bug's
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: boo-hoo moments?
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: Well... I.
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: Don't think he cried in this movie.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: Zero cries. Interesting. Interesting. You guys just guess. I had
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: zero as well, but I never know with you. What
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: if I said, like, two? You'd be wrong. It was zero.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: It was zero. Zero. Zero. Do you get choked up
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: in this movie at all, Benny? Not really. You know what?
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: I get... I think it's nostalgia choke up because... I
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: get that. I actually do think when they have their
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: actual hero moments is really well done. Yeah. When Ned
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: does the locker room speech... They're drawing the line in
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: the sand. They kick the legs out a little because...
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: Steve Martin, then Ned's speech is awesome, like, legitimately really good.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: And the score is so good, and then Steve Martin comes,
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: and then, of course, Chevy hesitates and then fires. But
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: when he comes and they do the salute, like, it's dumb,
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: but it's so well done, and the music is so good. Again,
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: it's better than it should be when they do that stuff.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: And in the end, you know, when they kind of
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: come full circle and do the real, like, it's cheesy,
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: but you know, again, it's more nostalgia for me, but
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: it is kind of nice that they do do like
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: the kind of heartfelt full circle, give the money back and,
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: and then the full, you know, I like that stuff.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: But again, it's, it's much more, uh, I just think
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: it's well executed and, and it's so nostalgic for me
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: that I get emotional in that way. I like that. Yeah.
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: I'm going to get emotional now when I think about
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: Matt Damon.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: Right? Every time. That's such a beautiful story. Isn't that great?
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: I saw him tell that story on two different shows. Oh, really?
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: That's fun. Dude, I watched when The Odyssey came out.
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: I think I.
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: Watched just so many. You saw the whole internet. It's
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: probably better I didn't see him say that because now
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: I'm going to look it up and I'm probably going
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: to have a problem. Oh, yeah. Your heart will go
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: out of your butt, as you would say. It certainly will.
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: It certainly will. Let's move to some movie trivia now.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: Let's see.
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: Steve Martin learned the lasso tricks while working in a
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: magic shop at Disneyland as a teenager. So he didn't
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: even have to learn that for this.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: He just learned it then. That guy. And he used
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: it later in Parenthood. Crazy. Really good. Oh, that's right.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: He's a cowboy in that. I love that movie so much.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: Might come up later. Who knows? I think it will
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: come up later for sure.
- 1:17:16Speaker 5: The bats that they eat are actually fried bacon served
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: on skewers.
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: Which I thought was funny. That's what I thought it
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: looked like. Bacon on a stick? Bacon on a stick.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: They were ahead of their time. Oh my gosh. Stay
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: fair food. Love it.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: This is pretty crazy. Tony Plana turned down Oliver Stone's
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: platoon to appear in this film. He had also appeared
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: in Stone's Salvador in 1986.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: But he knew that.
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: Shooting Platoon in the Philippines would be even more difficult
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: than that was compared to the five star hotel that
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: was being provided for the Tucson location of this film.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: Stone didn't talk to him for years after he passed
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: on his film.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I get it, though. He had a pretty,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: pretty big role in this. And yeah, he might have
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: gotten lost in Platoon. It's probably a lot more fun, right?
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: It had to be way more fun.
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: I'm a creature of comfort. I would definitely have chose
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: this as well. So yeah, I get that. I get that.
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: I think, I think you said at the top, but
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: in case you didn't, this is the only film co-written
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: by Randy Newman.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: I think we said that, right? Okay.
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: Uh, his voice also is digitally altered, uh, but he
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: is the singing as the singing Bush, which is pretty cool.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: Cause I, I, I read that he was the singing
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: Bush and I was like, huh? They changed it. Which
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: makes sense. Uh, that's funny. Cause I always thought it
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: was like, like Ethel Merman or someone like, right. Yeah.
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: It sounds like that. It does sound like that. God. Yeah.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 1:18:51Speaker 5: And then we referenced this earlier, but we didn't say it.
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: Steve Martin has revealed that his favorite joke in this
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: film was written by Randy Newman. And it's when El
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: Guapo opens his presence and he claims.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: It's a sweater. We didn't even talk about it. I know,
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: but it's so funny. Dude, talk about a thing we
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: always say. It's a sweater. It's a sweater! Oh, my God.
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: It's so good. It's really good. I loved it. But again,
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: they still don't even, they don't even overplay, like, I'm
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: just impressed. Like, they could have had the bad guys
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: be so goofy. They had some restraint. And they somehow, like,
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: let them be goofy, but they don't, like, overplay the
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: goofy part. Like I still believe them as like the
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: actual bad guys. They walk the line well. But they
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: let them do the, I don't know, they're like real people.
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Like I said, the photography thing is a funny twist
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: and Hefe having the whole plethora conversation. But it never
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: goes to like, like they're still kind of scary. Yeah. Agreed.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: I think that's really well done. I love that. What
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: else we got?
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: Oh, the musical score provided by Elmer Bernstein, who also
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: did the rousing score for The Magnificent Seven, which this film.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: Parodies in part.
- 1:20:13Speaker 5: According to Peter Bernstein, his father was growing tired of
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: writing music for comedies that parodied his previous work when
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: he was asked to do this. During a conducting session,
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: Elmer handed Peter the baton and said, you do it,
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: and ran away.
- 1:20:27Speaker 8: So.
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: That's interesting. Run away! He had some stuff going on, yeah.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: Run away!
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: Steven Spielberg considered directing the film, but chose to do E.T.
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: the Extraterrestrial instead.
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: Bad choice, buddy. Probably good Steve. Yeah, bad choice. He
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: said in interviews... E.T. sucks.
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: He said in interviews that his choices for the roles
- 1:20:50Speaker 5: in the film were Steve Martin as Lucky Day, Bill
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: Murray as Dusty Bottoms, and Robin Williams as Ned Niederland.
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: That would have been amazing, too. Well, and then didn't
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: Steve Martin. I left for a second. He wrote it
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: in 1980. Oh, I didn't say that. He he I
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: think originally he had thought of it. Again, kind of
- 1:21:13Speaker 3: like Ghostbusters. It was going to be him and, I think,
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: Ackroyd and Belushi. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I have that later,
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: I think. But, yeah, that is cool. Didn't you say
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: they had talked about John Candy? John Candy was going
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: to maybe do it at one point. But he couldn't
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: do the horse stuff? Yep.
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: Ironically, his last film was Wagons East. Yes. Yeah.
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: But he was the one that recommended Martin Short. Because
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: of SCTV, which is so cool.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: And if you watch the Pee Wee doc, the Pee
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: Wee doc, you know, Paul Rubens in, was it the Groundlings? Well,
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: they started, I think it was the Groundlings, with Phil
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: Hartman and Martin Short and all them. Oh, interesting. Also,
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: we're all doing that. Because Phil Hartman wasn't on SNL yet, right?
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: In 86?
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: I'm not great with that. Yeah, I don't know. So
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: I'm saying I can see him. Anyway. That makes sense.
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: John Landis said in Empire Magazine that the studio took
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: the film out of his hands in post-production and edited
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: it severely.
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: So there's that. Do they have an extended cut? Well,
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: there's like 15 minutes of deleted scenes on YouTube, but
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: a lot of them are like like Santa Poco stuff
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: and like extra like a Guapo. Oh, okay. With them. Honestly, it's, it,
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: the way it is, is like, it's so tight. Yeah.
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: Cause you could go, you, there's definitely more with them
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: as movie stars. They did a bunch of more scenes
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: with them as movie stars and a bunch more stuff
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: with Joe Montana as Harry Flugman, like establishing them as
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: more of like diva e movie stars. Sure. but I
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: feel like you get that immediately with that scene. You
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: don't need more of that. Yeah. And then, and then
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: I think they do more with like why El Guapo
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: goes to Santa Poco a lot. Oh, interesting. Which I
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: guess is a good, but it's clearly like he goes
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: there to let's like steal stuff and take their, you know, whatever.
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: He's marauding or whatever. Yeah. I feel like, I feel
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: like the way the cut is dynamo. I mean, yeah,
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: it's like a perfect, it's, there's no wasted time. And
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: then you have time for stuff like the lip balm
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: desert and stuff. I mean, and musical numbers. Well, I
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: feel like they're really like silly movies.
- 1:23:45Speaker 5: You don't want to, you want to keep it going,
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: you know, cause you can lose people quick, you know?
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: Cause if this movie was two hours.
- 1:23:52Speaker 8: Like, yeah, it'd feel weird for sure. Uh, let's see
- 1:23:58Speaker 8: what else we got here. Oh, the singing turtle was
- 1:24:01Speaker 8: John Landis's idea. Uh, he says the singing turtle was
- 1:24:04Speaker 8: my idea. It's a desert setting, so we needed lots
- 1:24:06Speaker 8: of animals. The animals were on set with handlers and wires,
- 1:24:10Speaker 8: so they didn't run. But I remember the coyote was
- 1:24:13Speaker 8: the most difficult. That was interesting.
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: That's something. Let's see.
- 1:24:19Speaker 5: In his memoir, Life Itself, Roger Ebert recounted appearing as
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: a guest on The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson alongside
- 1:24:27Speaker 5: Chevy Chase, who was promoting the film. During the interview,
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: Ebert was asked his least favorite film of the holiday season,
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: and he replied, Three Amigos.
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: You can watch it.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: With Chevy Chase next to him.
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: It's very awkward. That's brutal. Chase said, looking forward to
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: your next picture to him, apparently. Also, Robert Eger, I'm like, bro. Yeah,
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: you shouldn't do that. I know Chevy's an a-hole, but
- 1:24:52Speaker 3: that's also a dick move. Yeah, big time. But you
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: can watch it. It's very awkward. I bet it is.
- 1:24:58Speaker 5: Apparently backstage, Chevy went up to him and said that
- 1:25:02Speaker 5: he didn't think it was so hot either, apparently.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: I bet he did. He was probably like a foot
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: and a half taller than him, too. Yeah. Interesting.
- 1:25:12Speaker 5: When the three amigos freeze while they're trying to sneak
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: into El Guapo's fortress, the two guards who pass them
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: are discussing a recipe in Spanish.
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: So that's just the fun.
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: That tickled me. I thought that was fun. They're just
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: talking about a recipe.
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: Something delicious, I'm sure. In research for the screenplay, the
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: writers found out that since special effects and stunt work
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: were non-existent, or barely existent during the silent film era,
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: the actors in those films would actually perform complex and
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: demanding tasks so they'd get on screen. And this is
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: reflected specifically with Ned when he is the master gunfighter,
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: as he's shown to be, he can fly the plane
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: and all those things. But apparently that was the thing.
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: They didn't really have people, so if you wanted to
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: get in on those, you had to just be good
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: at them.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: So that's kind of fun. We didn't really talk about that.
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: They do do a great job with the silence. Yes.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: Especially like their makeup. So good. Yes. Funny. And good
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: on them that they didn't do brown face. Yeah. That
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: would not have aged great.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: Well, no.
- 1:26:19Speaker 5: And they actually said that was part of the thing.
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: So for the silent film sequence, they wore makeup that
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: whitened their faces and darkened their lips and eyebrows. And
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: I guess that was standard for the era, they say,
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: because when films were shot with orthochromatic film... They were
- 1:26:36Speaker 5: insensitive to warm colors, so you had to have that
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: big contrast, which is kind of cool.
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: Well, it's like now when people make black and white
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: movies now, if you actually see the onset, all the
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: colors are crazy. Oh, really? Interesting. Because different colors show
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: up differently. It'll be all like pinks and greens and stuff. Oh, wow.
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: When they shot the black and white Oppenheimer scenes, if
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: you look at the... behind-the-scenes photos. Everything's crazy colors. Interesting.
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: Because they show up very differently in black and white.
- 1:27:10Speaker 5: That's really cool. I didn't know that. Rob, I feel
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: like I stole some of yours. Did you have any
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: other trivia?
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: We said most of them. I saw Fran Drescher had
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: a role at the start of the movie, but all
- 1:27:21Speaker 4: of her scenes got deleted.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: And Sam Kinison had a role as a Mexican bandit
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: and stalker that was filmed and later cut by John Landis.
- 1:27:32Speaker 5: Interesting.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: That would have been fun to see.
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: Those were the severe edits, I guess. Yeah. Probably wouldn't
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: have aged great, but it would have been pretty funny. Yeah.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: He was funny, though. But that was everything else was mentioned. Nice.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: Do you guys have anything else?
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: No.
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: That was, yeah. Love it. All right. Judgment Day, will
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: there be a sequel?
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: Despite the nostalgic interest from Chase and fan desire for
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: a crossover, Steve Martin and Martin Short have moved forward
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: with other projects, and no official Three Amigos sequel has
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: ever been developed.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: What if they make two Amigos? That would be amazing.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: I feel like they... Well, again, you can't make a
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: sequel when the... Again, this is one of those movies,
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: it didn't even do that well. It's... It's like a
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: cult favorite. Right. You know. Yeah. Yeah. I would watch it.
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: I probably would, too. Me, too. I mean, I would have.
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: But I'm saying, like, it would have had to happen,
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: I feel like, like in the in the 90s sometime. Yeah.
- 1:28:38Speaker 4: When Chevy Chase was still likable.
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, do you guys want to play a game?
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: I did a different one for you guys. I did
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: a starting five where I'm going to name my five
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: favorite actors from a particular film. When you know the film,
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: you're going to ring in with your name.
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: If you get it wrong, there won't be any negative points,
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: but you won't be able to guess again for that movie.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: If there are actors' names remaining, you can guess those
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: for a point each. Someone else can steal if you
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: get any of those names wrong. And all of these
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: films have something in common. It might pertain to the
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: movie we just talked about. When you know the theme,
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: you can ring it at any time for a point.
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: Love it. We good? Yeah. Yeah, let's do it. Number one,
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: the first name. Tim Curry. R.I.P. The second name. Chris O'Donnell.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: The third name. Oliver Platt. Bukes. Bukes. Three Musketeers.
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: The Three Musketeers.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: These are all films. Okay, yeah, yeah. Yeah, you can
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: do that. These are all films with numbers in the name.
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: More specific than that. These are all films with three
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: in the name.
- 1:30:04Speaker 4: They all have the number three in this game.
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: So thank you for three movies. Oh, yeah, shoot. So,
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: so far, Tim Curry, Chris O'Donnell, and Oliver Platt have
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: been mentioned. There's two more. Charlie Sheen and... Oh, why
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: can't I think of his name right now? Five, four, three, two.
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: Damn it! Benny. Benny? Kiefer Sutherland. Boom. Benny got two
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: points and you got two points. Great. That was my chance.
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: That was your chance.
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: That was my chance. All right, let's go to number two.
- 1:30:47Speaker 4: The first name is Nora Dunn.
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: SNL alum. I don't know who that is.
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: The second name is Spike Jones.
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: Whoa. The third name is Ice Cube. Adam. Yes. Three Kings?
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: Three Kings is correct. Ring ding ding.
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: And you have two names remaining.
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: I know George Clooney.
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: Correct.
- 1:31:17Speaker 3: I don't remember who the third king is. Five? I'll
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: give it up. You're giving it up? Is it Wahlberg?
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: It is. Which one?
- 1:31:28Speaker 5: Mark.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Oh, sorry. Yes, it's Mark. I was like, what are
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: you doing to me? Did we like that movie? I
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: never saw it. I only saw it once. I think
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: I only saw it once. Same.
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: I think I was whelmed.
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Perfectly whelmed. That was two for Gay and one
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: for Benny, right? That's correct. Yep.
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: Let's go to number three. The first name is Margaret Collin.
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: The second name is Nancy Travis.
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: Ben. Benny. Benny. Three men and a baby. Three men
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: and a baby is correct. You need the three men.
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, Ted Danson. For four points. Brutal. Okay.
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: At least he did it quickly.
- 1:32:18Speaker 3: Directed by Leonard Nimoy. Oh, really? Spock did that one, huh? Yeah,
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: that's weird. I didn't know that. I didn't know that either. Crazy.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: All right, let's go to number four. The first name
- 1:32:32Speaker 4: is Lucas Hedges.
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: Hughes. Benny. Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri. Holy. You were
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: sitting on that.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: I was not.
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: I thought of that one earlier.
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: I don't know any of the other people's names, though. Well,
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: you'll know some names. You have four names for Benny.
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: Sam Rockwell.
- 1:32:51Speaker 3: Won an Academy Award for it. Sure did.
- 1:32:56Speaker 4: He was my number one name.
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: God, who else was in this? Two names you definitely know. Five. Four.
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: Three.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: Two.
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: One.
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: Beep, beep, beep. Benny. Benny. Francis McDormand. Correct. Lucas Hedges,
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: Francis McDormand, and Sam Rockwell have all been said.
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: You have two names remaining.
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: Five. Go ahead. Four. I don't remember this movie. I
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: don't remember the other two. Who's the daughter? Who's your daughter?
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: All right, Adam. Is it Margaret Qualley? It's not. It's
- 1:33:33Speaker 3: not a bad guess.
- 1:33:35Speaker 4: But then there's also another policeman.
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Who's the... Four. No, you're out.
- 1:33:44Speaker 4: Three.
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: Two. John C. It's not... It's not.
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: It's Woody Harrelson.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: Oh, yes. Of course.
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: It's Woody Harrelson. And then it was Carrie Condon.
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: No.
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: No.
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: But, Bugues, you got three billboards and Sam Rockwell, and
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: then Benny got Francis McDormand.
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: Got it. That's it.
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: Let's go to number five. The first name is John Hausman.
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: Hausman. Hausman.
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: The second name is Cliff Robertson. You would know him
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: as the original Uncle Ben from the first Spider-Man trilogy.
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: The third name is Max von Sydow. The fourth name
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: is Faye Dunaway.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: That can't be what I was thinking of.
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: And the fifth and final name Is Robert Redford. Benny.
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: Benny.
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: Three Days of the Condor. Shoot. Got it.
- 1:34:57Speaker 4: That was a movie I just saw for the first
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: time when Robert Redford passed.
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Poop.
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: Pretty good film.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Where are we after five? Benny has nine. I have four.
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: Renegade has two. Everybody's in it.
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: We still got five more, you guys.

- 1:35:51Speaker 3: all right, great, great, great, great. I was like, six
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: degrees of separation? That's a multiple of three?
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: Does that count?
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: I didn't know we were doing the trilogies.
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: Well, I will say, aside from this.
- 1:36:04Speaker 3: Next one, the last three will be trilogies, so get
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: your head there. Oh, wow, okay, okay.
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: I didn't have enough three movies that everybody would know.
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: Fair, fair, fair.
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: But this one is not a trilogy. So get that
- 1:36:21Speaker 4: out of your head for this one.
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: Got it.
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: Number seven. The first name is Alan Tudyk. The second

- 1:36:48Speaker 4: Three points for Benny.
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: Okay. Nicely done. Now, these last three, all the third film.
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: That movie was actually pretty sweet. I would like to
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: re-watch that movie. I loved it. I watched it recently,
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: and it was pretty great. That was where I was like, oh,
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: Ben Foster is awesome. I thought Ben Foster was going
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: to be nominated for an Oscar. Yes. I feel like
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: he should have, honestly.
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: He was so good.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: All right, guys. Number eight. The first name is Don Cheadle.
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: The second name, Benny. Iron Man 3. Iron Man 3. Oh.
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: What were you thinking? Ocean 13. That's almost what I said.
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: Does that count? That's not a 3. That's 13.
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: Yeah, none of these are going to have a 13.
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: You have four names remaining, Benny. Robert Downey Jr. Boom.
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: Gwyneth Paltrow. Boom. Who else wants to come in? Say
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: your name. Whoever else wants to come in.
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: Two names remaining.
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: John Favreau? He was probably in it, but I did
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: not pick him.
- 1:38:05Speaker 4: And he has one more chance.
- 1:38:07Speaker 5: Five.
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: Four.
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: Three.
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: Oh, Gary Shandling? No. That's bad. Bugs, what do you got?
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: Guy Pearce? Guy Pearce. Guy Pearce. And one more name?
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: I don't think she's... I never remember her name either. Yeah,
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: it's the mama. the little kid that he flirts with. No,
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: it's the chick from the town. Yeah, that's the same lady.
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: That's the little kid's mom.
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: Do you have a guess?
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: I see what you're saying.
- 1:38:43Speaker 5: The other scientist.
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: I didn't pick Rebecca Hall. That's who you guys are
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: talking about. I picked... The guy? The other dude? The kid.
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: No, not the kid.
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: The other bad guy? Yep. What's his name?
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: Ben Kingsley.
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: Oh! He's not a bad guy in there. I mean.
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: The Manchurian.
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: Yeah, the Mandarin. The Mandarin. The Mandarin.
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: He's a mentoring candidate, but he's the man.
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: Yo, that's good. We were so excited for him in
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: that movie. That was great. Like, I thought it was. No,
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: but I'm saying I thought it was gonna be such
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: a dope villain. Oh, I loved what they did. I mean,
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: I think it's fun.
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I love what they've done with it since.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: Just kind of a drunk actor. What's Trevor? What's his name?
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: Trevor Flattery. Something like that. That sounds right. I mean,
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: he's great. It's just in the trailers, it looked like,
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: I was like, oh, Benny. I know, dude. It just
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: looks like a dope ass. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: So Benny got Iron Man 3 and Downey Jr. and
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: Gwyneth Paltrow and Bugues got Guy Pearce.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: And that's it. All right. Number nine.
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: The first name is Bryce Dallas Howard. The second name
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: is Topher Grace.
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: Benny. Benny. Spider-Man 3. Got it.
- 1:40:03Speaker 4: Three names remaining.
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: Tobey Maguire. Yes. Thomas Hayden Church. Yes. Five. Four. Three.
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: James Franco. James Franco is in it?
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: That's not who I picked.
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: Adam. Adam. Yes. Kirsten Dunst? Boom, he's on the board.
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: Nicely done, buddy. Got to three, baby. Yeah, baby.
- 1:40:34Speaker 5: What did Benny get?
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: Benny got Toby and Thomas Hayden Church in Spider-Man 3.
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: Got it. Last one.
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: The first name is Darlene Love. The second name is
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: Renee Russo. The third Bugs.
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: There's not a three.
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: No, thank you. The third name is Joe Pesci. Adam.
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: Lethal Weapon 3. Oh, nicely done. Two names remaining. Yes.
- 1:41:10Speaker 3: Mel Gibson. You got it. Is that all of them?
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: That is it. Is that three more?
- 1:41:14Speaker 4: He got another three more points.
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: Do I pass, Bugues? You tied me. Tied. 6-6, and
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: what did Benny have? 18. 18, bro. I kind of
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: feel like it's just kind of between me and Bugues.
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: It's the real competition. That's fair. We can do the tiebreaker,
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: just us two. That's fair. Should we do the tiebreaker? Yeah,
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: do you want to do the tiebreaker? Yeah, just you two.
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: Is there a tie here? I'll just let you two
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: do it. Keep your guy's mouth shut. All right.
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: I'm so sorry for this name that I'm going to
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: try and say.
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: His name is Chukwudi Iwuji. Chukwudi Iwuji.
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: The second name.
- 1:41:56Speaker 3: Is Karen Gillan. Adam. Yes. Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Yes,
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: it is. And you have three names remaining. Chris Pratt. Boom.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: Bradley Cooper. Boom. He was the star of that one.
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: You got a lot.
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: To choose from, but who did I pick?
- 1:42:24Speaker 3: Vin Diesel? No, it's not Vin Diesel. Saldana? It's not Saldana.
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: I picked Batista.
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: That was another three points. Way to go, Gabe.
- 1:42:39Speaker 5: Dude, when you said Spike Jonze earlier, I almost said
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: Jackass 3D.
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: Like, I was so close to guessing Jackass 3D.
- 1:42:47Speaker 4: That would have been great.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: Wow. I forget who the first person you said was.
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: I kind of wish you would have thrown in a
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: Three Ninjas, because none of us would have known. And
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: that's why I didn't. Morita. I was literally waiting for,
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: I'm like, if I hear one where I don't know
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: anyone's name, I'm just going to say Three Ninjas.
- 1:43:06Speaker 4: I wrote it down, too.
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: Dude, I loved Three Ninjas back in the day. Bro,
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: when Three Ninjas came out, I was thrilled. I saw
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: it in the theater. Tum Tum. I kind of want
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: to rewatch it to see how bad it is. It's
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: got to be terrible.
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: It's got to be awful.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: I'm sure it's awful. It can't be worse than what
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: was the Surfing Ninjas. Surf Ninjas.
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: Did you ever watch Surf Ninjas?
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: Yeah. So bad. But I watched Three Ninjas a lot.
