- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: All right, which we finish up the defensive series last episode.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's all about the offense.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: And we're starting where it matters the most.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: And it's the trenches for sure.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: This 2026 offense of tackle class.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, you know that I've been waiting to talk about offensive line this entire time, just kind of trudging through the defensive side of it, glad that we're starting on the offensive side, going to start with the offensive tackles today.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think we got a lot of good names to talk about here and a lot of potential candidates that could improve the Miami Dolphins, depending on what they decide to do.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you know, I'll say this right up front, this could be one of the most debated position groups in this draft.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: You have a couple of offensive linemen that could be taken in the first round.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: There's rumors going around where it could be up to eight to nine.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: a historic raw scores, weight management flags, arm length issues, some offensive tackles could turn into guards.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's a little bit messy and it kind of maps directly into what Miami's real roster needs head into 2026.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they obviously had issues with the guards last season on both sides, you know, you hope that Jonas of I and I have comes around on one side, but you know that you need at least one other starting guard, but the tackle position, even though you have one,
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: very good starter and possible, you know, potential pro boner in the future in Patrick Paul.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: The right tackle position is very much up in the air.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: Austin Jackson has been a good player when he has been in the lineup, the unfortunate part that is like too many players on this dolphins roster when he is in the lineup tends to be what said about a lot of them.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: So even if they decide to return Austin Jackson, I think there's some good options in this draft,
- 3:24[SPEAKER_02]: that could potentially start out as a guard.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: And if you want to move off from Austin Jackson in 2027, can't slide over and be your book and with Patrick Paul.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_02]: And if you decide to let go of Austin Jackson this year, I think there are some good candidates that are ready to come in stepping day one and you know give you one of the the best young tackle duo is in the league.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we're going to do the same one we did this episode as we do with the defensive series
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about Bobby Slowie's scheme, the data grading lens, the combine numbers.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: And real quick before we get into the players, we have to talk about a combine stat that are research and found that shows which offensive linemen specifically in the first round.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: 10 to get drafted in the first round are elite offensive tackles and stay in the lead for a while and that's going to be the 20 yard shuttle, which is an elite predictor of NFL offensive lineman success, a 4.47 or under shuttle.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: is the key right there.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: And you know it directly translates into lateral movement, reach blocking, zone scheme, execution, getting to the second level.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: And that's gonna be the benchmark of it for the entire episode.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: And...
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the sad thing is that, I mean, I don't know if it's sad, but maybe a little bit disappointing, and it depends on what these players do on their pro days instead, nobody in this 2026 offensive tackle class that we're going to talk about today, no one hit a 4.47 20 art shuttle and most of them didn't even run it at all.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: going to be a little bit hard to, you know, evaluate and dictate and see just based off the combine numbers and we don't have the protein numbers.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that may, it is a disappointing that a lot of them didn't run it.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: We don't have anybody really in that range, but what you're saying about the correlation between that drill and the top offensive tackles in the league really makes a lot of sense because your tackles are playing in space a little more, and that really does
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's a great measure for your change of direction skills.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: And you think a change of direction we're talking about wide receivers and corners and running backs.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: But as an office of tackle, you know, you're out there on an island.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_02]: And when you're past blocking against some of these speed rushers, you need to have that ability to smoothly
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: changed directions laterally same thing in the run a game, especially when we're talking about this, you know, Bobby slow like outside zone scheme right because they have talked about the past and I mean there are certainly parallels between the Daniel and slow and.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: Offensive linemen have talked about in the whole Shanahan tree, really, of how it's a different mindset of running off of the ball.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: And that a lot of that comes down to the front side of outside zone, right?
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: When you are you're sprinting out there towards a wide nine or working up to an outside linebacker.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: And when those defenders change direction, you've got to be able to plant your foot and change direction with them.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: So it definitely makes sense that across the league, that that's an important step for offensive linemen, but more specifically to this outside wide zone type scheme as well.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you know, you actually need both of those skills, the lateral zone athletes who can also hold up and pass protection and really anchor themselves and that combination is pretty weird and to super expensive and when you find that type of player, you don't, you know,
- 7:17[SPEAKER_00]: You do not let it off the board.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: You go ahead and select them.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: So for this episode, again, we're gonna go with the archetypes as well.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna have the puller, which is the zone specialist, ladder movement guy, reach blocker.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: The second one is gonna be the anchor whose pass protection first can handle the vertical pass that's handles and handles power rushers pretty well.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: and the last one is the swing tackle that is versatile enough to play both sides on the left and the right, has that pre-snap formation flexibility and is critical for Bobby slowx offense that uses motions and shifts.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: constantly.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Before we get into the players, I know coach you touched upon the offensive line.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: You talked about Austin Jackson.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know if he's going to stay or if they will cut him.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: The indication right now for what we've heard with the rumors is that John Eric Sullivan would like to keep Austin Jackson if he doesn't then that becomes a position of need.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: Outside of that, you look like you have a mainstay in left tackle, Patrick Paul.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: And they might want to work out an extension with Center Aaron Bruer.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: So if you have the Center in left tackle position locked down, and you potentially keep Austin Jackson, that could leave a guard spot besides Jonah Sabanial, or maybe a back-up right tackle to backfill Austin Jackson spot in about a year or two.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, regardless of what they do with Austin Jackson, I think that it's, you know, you're just kind of waiting for the clock to run out, right?
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: They're not John Eric Sullivan talked about.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: They're not in position.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: Just let go of good football players.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think they're going to just outright cut Austin Jackson.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't be surprised if they try to shop and see if they can get some kind of return there.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: But if they can't get something for him, they'll probably run it back, let him have another year.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: But given his history, I'm not sure how you don't have some sort of contingency plan for next year because even if you have Patrick Paul and Austin Jackson returning,
- 9:42[SPEAKER_02]: We know that it's rare for an offensive line to have five guys that stay healthy the entire season.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_02]: At some point, there is going to be a third offensive tackle playing with Austin Jackson.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_02]: That likelihood goes up even further.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_02]: So even if you do decide that your tackles are kind of set for 2026 with Patrick Paul and Austin Jackson, you still need to bring in that third guy
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: that can play your swing tackle and in a perfect world, that would be somebody that is capable of stepping in in year two and replacing Austin Jackson.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's go ahead and get into the players.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: The first archetypal talk about is the puller and the best prototype and best, fit.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: in this Bobby Slovak's offense under the archetype of the polar is a, our three names that, you know, we've put up, Trent Brown, Rochon Slater, and Andrew Littworth.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: Those are three pretty good, pretty elite guys, right then, and right there.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: So the first person we'll talk about in that polar conversation is going to be Spencer Fanow out of Utah.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: And,
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: low and behold, Eric joins us right into this conversation.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I am excited.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: I am pulling up for the Polars as it was.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: So tell us a little bit about Spencer Fano, Eric, you know, there was a lot of, you know, debate of what he would be like, you know, pre the NFL combine and now.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: There's debates about what he looks like after the combine.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: Because he was a potential top 10 pick.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: And now it seems as if he's sliding because his arm length is not in the correct threshold.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: That scouts would use as a minimum for NFA offensive tackles.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's being compared to Will Campbell now.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: And Will Campbell was the number four overall pick and last year's draft.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, firstly, can I just say, man, for Wil Campbell, he's going to, he's going to get these trays for the entire office season now, but when it comes to a guy like Fano, you know, you do have to believe that he's going to be your tackle of the future, but the production is definitely there on on film with Fano, you know, the,
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: Run blocking is fantastic.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: I do have concerns not only about the arm length, but I have concern.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: If you were to kick him into guard, he's going to have to gain some weight.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I do worry that he could be a man without a land a little bit because he is pretty light.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I believe he's somewhere hovering around 300 305.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: But.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when you look at the film, he's a guy that you're going to have to kind of trust what your eyes tell you above all else because I think that tells you that he can come in right away.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he's tackle at the next level.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not I don't have those concerns.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the arms are slightly below threshold, but I don't think that they're
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that they're a catastrophic red flag or anything like that in terms of the fandom.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trusting with what the film tells my eyes.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I agree with that.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: My thing with Ben, I think he is possibly the top, you know, run blocking tackle in this dress.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: His run blocking film is impressive.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that his past blocking really improved this year from what I saw last year.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: And the arm length thing.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't put him in the same bucket as Wil Campbell because I didn't like Wil Campbell at number four overall.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: even if he had 35 inch arms.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: I thought there were holes in his game that would have been exposed anyways, whereas Fano, I don't see those same holes, but you can't, you can't overlook it completely.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_02]: Does it mean that he can't be a tackle?
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: There are tackles in the league that have short arms, but it does kind of maybe put a cap on
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: how good of a tackle he can be like.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: When you start looking at the, you know, Hall of Fame, all pro-proble, right?
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: Those are the guys that consistently have those 34, you know, those long arms.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: So maybe even though Fano's film is really good, right?
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: Now, maybe that ceiling drops a little bit that we're not talking about him as an all-protect guy.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: The nice part about Fano is that I do think that
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: If you put him at tackle and he doesn't succeed, I think he does, especially with the run blocking, have a lot of skills that transition very well to guard.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think you're in a risk of kind of throwing away a pick, for example, and I'll use.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe so we'll talk about later Mark L. Bell for example is not is somebody that I don't see being able to make that transition to guard right if he if he fails to tackle these probably just can fail.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_02]: Whereas Fano.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: Right you can start a attack where you can move in the guard and he even took some snaps at center there at the scout and combine as well.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: So you have a lot of different options that you can use form it's it's one of those guys that I feel it's going to be kind of hard to mess up the picking not find somewhere that he's starting along that offensive line.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, 543 left tackle snaps, 1,616 snaps at right tackle, you can play either side without telegraph and formations in Bobby's lox offense, and that's the prize right there, especially in a pre-snap motion offense.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: Now look, if he stays at tackle, the arm length can be a concern in a pure power pass set up against elite speed rushers, for sure.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_00]: And coach, you talked about it.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the biggest concern specifically in this scheme, just because of his run block.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: His run block rate for PFF was 82.2.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's the best in the class and best among all pullers of the archetype.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: in this class.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: His shuttle time of 4.67 is good.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a lead by the 4.47 standard, but it's still a solid number.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, in his own scheme where you're moving laterally and using your lower body technique rather than arm length to win most of the time at
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: It could potentially justify him being, you know, the first offensive tackle off the board considering almost half of the NFL's offenses utilizes a zone scheme.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_00]: Now, if he moves inside to guard, do you think he would be better as a guard?
- 16:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, would he be comparable to a guy like Azac Martin?
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think so.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_02]: I do.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: in the NFL.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_02]: So if you can be a, you know, above average tackle is more valuable to a team than in the lead guard is, um, but yeah, I think that as a guard, Fano has that type of potential.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_00]: The next guy was actually fanos is a teammate at Utah,
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: I have him down as a guy like a Blake Freeland Taylor LeWan type of player.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: I do think his past sets are really good, his past blocking is good, his run game needs a bit of development, I know Fannel's run blocking tape was much much better.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to develop in the run game to be an absolute elite left tackle at this, you know, at this point in his young NFL career.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just think that when you look at Lone, we'll let you say that I think he is day one ready to be an NFL pass protector, but I think that he has
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of work to do in the run game and I'm not sure if the ceiling is necessarily there for him, but there is obviously still value in tackles that can pass block, like this isn't time player that the Kansas City chiefs come into mind for me, like they just released Joanne Taylor, right?
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: And that's another guy that was probably a little better in pass protection than he was in run blocking, right?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_02]: If you get him into a kind of a quarterback centric
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: where you don't need that running game as much, then I think that you could get a very good player out of Caleb Lomu, whereas if you send him somewhere like Detroit that's going to lean a little heavier on the run game, that I don't think that you're going to have the same type of impact.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think that Fannie and Lomu are anywhere close in terms of prospects, but as you get into NDA2, you can do a lot worse than what you have with Caleb Lomu.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a guy that's going to be a highly scheme pennant in the NFL and really it's going to come down to kind of where he lands because the past protection is legitimately good, but I would say fan I was a much better past blocker than Loma was in the run gate.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think when you kind of key those two things up together, low moves really athletic and I think that helps with his with his moving abilities.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: And he doesn't commit a lot of penalties, but I just without the that kind of nasty in the run game.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what his ceiling really is.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's a guy that can be a serviceable guard or a serviceable tackle for for teams at the next level.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_01]: if it's much more than that.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: But again, if you're telling me you're getting a guy that's going to be your starter for five to seven years at Left Tackle and you're going to get at the very least, you know, league average tackle play.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think that play is in the second round.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think Caleb Loma will be available in the second round just and I don't think he has the option to be picked up by mine because
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: They already have their left tackle in Patrick Paul now unless the dolphin strayed down and think of a way where they protect him in the run game and let him develop his run game skill and put them on pass downs itself, but you know taking a first round pick in Caleb Lomo and if you trade down in the 20s is the juice worth the squeeze right there coach.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think there would be other players that I would like in this offense more than Caleb Lomo, even in a trade-down scenario, especially in the first round.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: Again, if you're getting into date two and you're talking about him as a swing tackle type player, the guy that kind of comes in and can fill a gap, a Kendall Lamb style.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: than I could get on board with that, but that's obviously not something you're looking for in a trade-down and round one.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: All right, the next guy we're going to talk about who is actually the most experienced right tackle in his class has almost 4,000 right tackle snaps.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, he was a four-year starter.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_00]: Never missed a game at all.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: Eight sacks allowed played up against ACC competition had a 9.94 relative athletic score.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: Completely exceeded expectations in the combine.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: Got a 4.78 shuttle, which is average by the 4.47 standard, but it's better than most of the class.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about Clemson's Blake Miller, 666, 315 pounds.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: He had a 3 cone of 7.53 and guys, the experience is undeniable and never missing a game at Wright Tackle.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_00]: Is this not what John Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hathley are looking for in a Wright Tackle?
- 22:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think the last thing that you said there may be one of the most important things.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: The fact that he's never missed a snap, right?
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: We've gone through the pains of missing tack.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_02]: Tackles missing games, right?
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: Whether it was Toronto, Armstrong, Stead Austin, Jackson.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: We know that the Green Bay model values those guys that have played a lot.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think the Blake Miller is a tackle that's going to make it into the first round, especially with the way that he tested.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: I think that if you were,
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of making a tackle in a lab he's going to look and move a lot like what Blake Miller does another guy that I kind of scalded early this season and
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: based on his film from last year and felt that he needed to make some strides in the past protection game and as I watched more film of him from 2025 I feel like he has made those strides if I had one kind of nitpicky thing with him it would be that in the run game I feel like he can still be a little high at times but when you look at the athleticism that he has I think that's something that you can you can work on he has a lot of those things
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: that you just can't teach, he plays with a bit of a mean streak there.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: So there is a lot to like about him, just maybe not that the dominance that would get him into the top half of the first round.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_02]: But I do think this is, you know, especially you were just talking about Lomo as an option to trade down and draft and round one.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: If they moved on from Austin, Jackson needed somebody to start day one at right tackle, a trade down and picking up Blake Miller would be a real nice way to go for that.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think when you look at Blake Miller, the experience really does kind of stand out.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: He is a guy that has progressed just about every year at Clemson.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, as you mentioned, there was a pretty decent difference between 2024 and 2025.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: The dominance isn't there, you're right in that, but I think when you look at the experience, the
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: uh, what's the word that I'm looking for?
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: The discipline in terms of, you know, he doesn't get penalized all that often.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think having all those snaps, um, really will help with that, especially at the next level.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and then the athleticism, I think, is kind of the swing skill for him.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that the ceiling is super high with a guy like Blake Miller.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: The athletic profile probably tells you it should be, um, but I think with,
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: all the reps that we'd seen of him at the college level.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: He kind of is what he is at this point.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a little bit of room for growth, but not, you know, too much more.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: But even in that case, I think that that's fine because as you mentioned, he's a guy that can step in and start at right tap or right away.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, he's gonna be decent and he's going to be
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: really durable as well.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you have any questions about that and for a team like Miami who's been decimated upfront along the offensive line the last three, four or five however many years.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's an extremely valuable proposition.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: The final guy in our polar archetype is more of a developmental guy.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_00]: 6,6,315 pounds has the look of a left and right tackle played 2000s over 2000 snaps at left tackle less than 500 at right tackle has a run block grade of almost 81 which is 94%
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: has allowed 11 sex against SEC competition.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's a natural zone phase.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a low, wide, pre-snap stance, Austin Barber out of Florida.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: For a team that's built so far right now are on Devon Hain running on the outside zone.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's an appealing trait from him.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I like Austin Barber a lot.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think that when we talk about guys that are well-rounded, right, Austin Barber is gonna be further up that list.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_02]: There's certain guys that we'll talk about and we have already that are kind of better run blockers and guys that are better pass blockers, but Austin Barber is one of those I think is not, does not excel in either of those, but he's also not going to,
- 27:07[SPEAKER_02]: just be awful and either of them.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is the type of guy, you know, I think that, you know, moves well, good strength, all of that stuff just doesn't get the movement that you'd like in the run game, I think.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: and past pro, the thing that I noticed with him was that at times he tended to get his hands swiped away, didn't always maintain good contact there, but we're talking about again, for me this is more of a day two maybe pushing into day three type guy that if he's around there, he can play on both sides of the line for you.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_02]: This is a type of guy that can come in and
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: at least keep the ship afloat for a little bit.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think that his size does not prohibit him from considering him as a guard as well.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: If you come in, you bring Austin Jackson back.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: You draft barbers, you're swing tackle.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: I think you could also entertain the idea of letting him compete for that right guard position as well.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: So I think there's a lot of flexibility here for a player that does a lot of things pretty well.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think when you look at a guy like Austin Barber, I do think that the run blocking is further along than the past blocking.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think either, like you mentioned, is really a standout skill.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: The only question that I that I do have with him is, you know, obviously he has played a lot of snaps at left tackle and not that I think it would be
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: a crazy transition to write tackle but we do see guys what in terms of the the footwork and kind of having to mirror it is a little bit more difficult than a lot of people kind of let on.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: So that's something that I would be semi-concerned about but I do I do see at the end of the day swing tackle kind of upside out of a guy like
- 29:11[SPEAKER_01]: Barbara, I think that, you know, what he does in terms of his movin' abilities works well with what while we slow up wants to do on the outside zone, you know, I think the play strength is better than, you know, a guy like, let's say Austin Jackson.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: But I do see some similarities there with kind of the way that they play on the run game and maybe some of their struggles in the past game though Jackson has made, you know, some pretty decent strides there, but ultimately I think Barbara is a, you know, late day to guy with swing tackle upside.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, oh, I think if he runs at his pro day for his three counts and if he comes in with a shuttle above a 4.7 or like just above a 4.6, I think there could be some orange flags up in pass protection that do come.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_00]: because picking him in the second and maybe even third round becomes a little bit hard to justify see him more so as early day three guy just because his runblocking is really good but his past protection as a problem 1.4% penalty rate
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: gives up, you know, true pressure around 8.8% of his past protection slabs, snaps, which is well above the NFL average, and has given up 11 sacs last season.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to hide a guy, especially on those backside play action passes, where if speed rushers are able to blow by him, your entire play call, and, you know,
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: Basically 30% of your offense of play calls could potentially go out the window just because he's not able to keep up with that lateral speed and quickness up against opposing past pressures.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: All right, before we head toward next archetype, if you are watching on YouTube, we will be right back.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: And if you are listening on audio, we will take a quick break.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: And we're back.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_00]: All right, the next archetype is the anchor.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_00]: Now, these are guys that are past protection first.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: They hold up in true past sets.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: They handle power rushers.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: They handle the stunts.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: They protect the quarterback in the bootleg and play action game.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot of power and they can hand fight and they have some zone athleticism, but not pure zone athleticism, think of guys like Tristan Worf's Lane Johnson, Penae Suhl, these are the type of guys that are the cornerstones and are actual anchors for their respective teams.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_00]: The first player we're going to talk about is our local guy Francis Malagola, 6, 6, 329 arms, didn't really run or do too much in the combine.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: He's projected to be a top 15 pick.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_00]: Almost 3,000 right tackle snaps best in class and pass blocking only give a one sack and 204 with the 94% win rate.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, a lot of people see him similar to a Penae sull, Mokai Bechtin type of player, a massive right tackle with elite pass protection, and you could potentially turn into a guard himself.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_00]: I do think if he is in Miami, he is a strong right tackle fit, just because of the pass protection and run game block, as well.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, the thing with the thing with Malino,
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think the regular season film was good, round one good, top 20 pick good.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: The college football playoff film was this guy is the best offensive lineman in the draft class.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: level good.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: When you look at the competition, cash is how across from him against Texas and I'm God Stone, well, didn't didn't get anything off for the most part against Ohio State.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't see a lot of him versus our goal specifically, but he was relatively quiet.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: You look at against Indiana.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: they didn't generate a lot of pressure versus Carson back although they did generate more than Ohio State and Texas A&M did.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the concerns with him in terms of the arm length are real, it's something that we're gonna see at the pro-day.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think the athleticism is going to surprise some people.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: uh... he he does move very well at his size and he even caught a screen pass for a touchdown this past year uh... at my amy so it's a fun little little staff for him uh... but again you're looking at an elite pass blocker
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think he will be at the very least a serviceable run blocker at the NFL level.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: The only question is what the arm length is he going to be a tackle or a guard.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't really have concerns about him at either spot.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if the upside is there as far as like a pen A soul goes, but I think he's a guy that you can have.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, at right table for 10 to 12 years and he's going to be a solid starter, you know, at the NFL level, you know, if we're just comparing Miami guys think of like a prank McKinney who is just a really good starter for 10 to 12 years at the NFL level coach, if Austin Jackson is let go.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: Can Maui go a step in as a long-term right tackle anchor on the right side, even though he has the best pass block grade and is a decent run blocker?
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to start off by saying that every year there is a top offensive tackle prospect that for whatever reason I am a lot lower on than consensus.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: uh... arman member before that joe all go back to pennies so um... there's always one of those guys and it seems like it's malle nulla for me this year but kind of what you're talking about their air with his performance from the regular season going into the postseason might kind of explain it because you you see the potential you see the ceiling but there was just times is tape
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: I hadn't been wanting a little more, right?
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: Wanting him to finish a little more, be a little more involved later in the play.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like his past walking, at times his feet would get a little sloppy.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_02]: And this is totally a,
- 36:38[SPEAKER_02]: I don't have numbers to back this up, but when I was watching the film for Miami, it felt like they were sliding protection to Malinoa, more than they were sliding it to the left, and that's not to say that the two tackles are even close, but it does make you wonder why a little bit.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: But they, like you said, get into the postseason and looks like that, you know, top 10 top five type pick.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: But when you see that, it makes you wonder when he gets into the NFL, what version of it are you getting, right?
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: Are you only getting that top 10 guy when it matters most or are you getting it for 17 plus games a year?
- 37:21[SPEAKER_02]: Um,
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: to answer your question, Assam, could we draft him and have him be the starting rate tackle for 10 years?
- 37:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think so, right?
- 37:30[SPEAKER_02]: But it's kind of the same conversation as Fano there and I have Fano a little higher than Maui No on my board, right?
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: But this is another guy that could come in and be a solid tackle, but may kind of have a ceiling on the accolades that he could get as a tackle, but you bump him into guard, right?
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: And you may be looking, again, if you get the consistent effort,
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: at a proble all pro type player.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I do think of this starting caliber tackle would I be thrilled with him at 11?
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: I can't say that I wouldn't.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_02]: I know that's probably not going to go over too well with the viewers that we have on this show.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_00]: the single most important data we've talked about it will be seen at its protein.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if he runs a sub four seven around four point six, I think that's a top 10 player.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's got the quickness lateral agility to be the right tackle.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking several there, right?
- 38:35[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_02]: You started first.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm thinking 40.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_02]: I said 40.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking to that.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right there for sure.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: Not the 40.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: He does that 40 like that.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's pretty good tight.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm probably not the 40.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_00]: Eric wasn't there earlier on in that episode.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_00]: He was like, oh, yeah, well, we're talking about the 20 year.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_00]: We're sure.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if it's like a 4.8, you know, around a 4.9, you can probably get the sense that,
- 39:20[SPEAKER_00]: you know, with how he is not super duper quick, you can put him into guard and get phenomenal play from him.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the consensus for everyone across the board for Mount Yola.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_00]: All right, the next guy in this archetype is Monroe Freeling and Man, he had a phenomenal combine.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: Six, seven.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_00]: 315 pounds, almost 35 inch arms ran a sub-five 40-yard debt machine, okay?
- 39:55[SPEAKER_00]: That's fast.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the second best relative athletic score all time amongst offensive tackles since 1987, longest arms in the class, largest wingspan, historic combine profile.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_00]: no shuttle and three cone drill either.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's got 1.4K snaps at left tackle, less than 300 at right tackle, the lead SEC competition, six sacks given up.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: With his long arm left tackle prototype measurements, physically he looks like a guy like a Tristan Worf's thrown arm-stead kind of guy.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_00]: I also think he's the prototypical guy who's, you know, a zone blocking left tackle.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: But Miami doesn't really need a left tackle right now.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: They have one in Patrick Paul.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_00]: Do you really see him getting picked at 11 in Miami and having, you know, Bobby slow
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so first off on that ridiculous RAS that he has, I find it disappointing that some of these prospects are not doing all of the drills in RAS may have kind of deterred players from doing that because I think you're seeing them do the drills that they are going to square the highest on.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_02]: and that that composite number is going to come out the highest.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think that if we would have seen him do the shuttle and the three cone, I think he'd have done okay in it, but we wouldn't be talking about with him about an almost perfect RAS score.
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: So I take that one with kind of a grant of salt, but freely for me is everything that you want in an office tackle.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_02]: I think that he
- 41:53[SPEAKER_02]: is not flashy, right?
- 41:55[SPEAKER_02]: He's not going to give you those pancake blocks where he's, you know, finishing with guys on the ground and things like that, but he's just consistently good.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like, looks effortless, you can see that long frame that he has kind of the same way with Patrick Paul in the way that you just make it look easy when he swallows up a defensive end and he can't do anything with it.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think that,
- 42:21[SPEAKER_02]: very scheme diverse, I think that he does enough in the gap and man schemes in terms of, you know, being a pile pusher that he can get by with that.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_02]: In the zone schemes, he is good enough in space to succeed there as well.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_02]: So just a good well-rounded player.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_02]: So when you ask about his ability to flip sides, you know, I think that if they were looking at an offensive tackle at 11 in Monroe Freeling was there,
- 42:51[SPEAKER_02]: I would not have a problem with it.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_02]: I would be more comfortable taking a chance on freely taking his elite traits and being able to flip sides than I would taking a fanow or a Maui Nella and hoping that they're less than elite traits could translate.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_00]: Eric, I don't want
- 43:16[SPEAKER_00]: to have the combine and athleticism carry, you know, freeling in this conversation.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_00]: There is a little bit of downside to him as well for, you know, how big his frame is.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: 10.7% of his soup assets were pressure based, almost 11% pressures.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: gave up, you know, 2% of all of his, you know, past-blocking snaps became sex, as well, which is worst is not worst, second worst in the class.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_00]: He gets beat in past protection at a rate that does not look like a top 10 guy or, you know, a top 15 type of offense of tackle.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_00]: And those sack numbers, those pressure numbers are one of the lowest amongst the day one starter candidates.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that's kind of where you have to account a little bit.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: At least for the fact that he plays in the SEC, and you look at just, for example, in this draft class, the Edge Prospects, you kind of see the SEC just absolutely dominate in that category.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that that's where he might be the victim a little bit of some of his competition where as
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you look at a Mawanoa in the ACC now granted he had a really tough slate in the college football playoff.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: But I think if we're looking at Monro Freeling and taking him and putting him into Mawanoa's regular season schedule, for example, that he comes out looking really good in that case.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I look at a guy like Freeling and I kind of see a, you know,
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: Almost like a better version of Blake Miller in this class, more athletic, I think he's going to be pretty solid day one, but I think that he's got by far the highest upside because he has those elite traits.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, of just about anyone in the class, the only the only question is, is like you mentioned some because of some of those issues in terms of relative production is how high exactly is the floor with Monroe Freeling?
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, I think that guys like Fano or Malonell probably have higher floors baked in.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I think that the ceiling with Freeling is is what's so enticing and why he will ultimately be a top 15 pick this year.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: Um, because I mean, honestly, that's the thing.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you're taking
- 46:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that he represents the most of that out of anyone in this in this tackle class.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_00]: There's another guy in this table class from Alabama kid and proctor 67 352 pounds.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_00]: We have him here.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: Most of us.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: In our aggregate of top 10s, he makes the top 10 lists, but I don't see him as a fit in Bobby's lowest offense.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think if the dolphins were to select Kate and Proctor, this would be the wrong scheme for him.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't have the latter legility for what Bobby's lowest looks like for an outside zone tackle, 17 sacs worse than the class.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_00]: More of a power gap scheme guy.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_00]: Coach, your thoughts on him, and then we'll move on to the next player.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I don't, so when I watch Caden Proctor's film, I don't know that I agree that Athletically, he's not a fit, but the consistency is just not there.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like Athletically, you know, if you're talking about upside, Caden Proctor is the model of upside.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like he is very athletic.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like if he put it all together, then we'd be talking about a top 10 guy.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_02]: But in there are times when he gets his hands on you, I think that's where the perception of the power comes in because when he gets his hands on you right you're you're done with he's extremely strong he will you know move mountains, but there are other times he looks completely lost out there's what works all over the place is his landmarks are off.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: And I found it interesting that despite all of that Alabama kind of threw some bones at him with, you know, letting him catch the ball in the perimeter, doing some stuff like that with him.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_02]: So it comes across as a smart guy, because you don't, you don't do that type of stuff with somebody that doesn't know the playbook, but there is some sort of disconnect there with the physical talent that Caleb Proctor has.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: And the film that he is is putting out there.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that a very high ceiling guy, but this is very much a boom or bus type prospect in my opinion.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: All right, last guy in
- 48:25[SPEAKER_00]: This archetype is J.C. Davis out of Illinois, eric, more so good day too.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_00]: Very, very, very early day three at worst, over 3,000 snaps at left tackle.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_00]: The comfort him right now is a gram glass gal, Marcus Cannon, type of guy experienced technical left tackle with interior versatility and elite run blogging.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll be interesting to see what interested to see what the athleticism remembers kind of look like on a guy with JC Davis because he is a guy that could push up in the day to if he does test well at his prote, you know, really solid run block grade.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: at Illinois this past season, and another guy who has a lot of snaps at the college level has been pretty durable throughout his career.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_01]: Again, we talked about it with Blake Miller, how valuable that is.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_01]: And again, you see it in his discipline he's not a guy that's going to get penalized a lot.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when it comes to,
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, maybe more of a swing tackle at the NFL level because I think that the testing as far as the athleticism goes may not end up being the best, but I think that you're looking at a really technically sound player in JC Davis who is going to win more with the technique than overall athleticism.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we'll move on to the next archetype right here, which is the swing tackle.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_00]: These guys are a positional, you know, versus tall guys that could play left.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_00]: They could play on the right side.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_00]: And these guys are actually really, really good fits for what Bobby Slowick wants to do in terms of pre-snap motions.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_00]: Think about guys like Morgan Moses, Jared Feld here, David Queez and Barry.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: This guy we're gonna talk about
- 50:31[SPEAKER_00]: 6,5,321 pounds, 4.914 at 321 pounds, all right.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_00]: Broad jump at 9 feet, 7 inches, projected to go in the second round, and I see him as a former packer in Elton Jenkins.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_00]: can play inside, can play outside, can be a developmental right tackle guy with elite athleticism.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_00]: And if that doesn't work out, you can also be a guard too.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_00]: You can be a right guard in Miami system.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so one of the interesting notes with in our tour is that,
- 51:11[SPEAKER_02]: He was a multi-sport athlete growing up, played soccer and basketball, but did not start playing football until 2021 in junior college.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_02]: So he's only been playing football for a few years.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_02]: And when you look at the jump that he's made from a technique perspective, from somebody that didn't even step on the field to being an NFL draft pick, like he has made a lot of progress.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_02]: His footwork looks a lot better than some of the guys
- 51:41[SPEAKER_02]: you know, playing football since they were little kids.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_02]: All of the athleticism in the world, but this is very much a upside pick.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_02]: The difference here is that there's not that long history of the inconsistencies with him.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_02]: There is a steady, steady curve of improvement with him.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_02]: The biggest thing that I get from watching him play, right, is that this is a big guy, right, to NFL offensive Lyme and probably a tackle, but I think he's still figuring out how to play big, right?
- 52:14[SPEAKER_02]: We, we look at, you know, think about training camp, right, and how some of the deep enders were talking about Patrick Paul kind of laughing at them trying to pass version.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_02]: There's a great, there's a great story about, um, chanting crowd are going against Jonathan Ogden,
- 52:29[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, just laughing at him as Chan and Crouters trying to pass rush.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_02]: Those are guys that understand what it's like to be big and to be confident in that.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like he and not to are still kind of trying to find that.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_02]: But like I said, the.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_02]: the progression that he's made, makes you think that that light bulb will come on.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_02]: And what it does, that I think you're looking at a really good player, it's just how soon is that going to that switch going to flip as far as where you would consider drafting him.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I've even seen some people push to him up into round one because of that upside.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's not there for me yet, but I think that just that the potential growth that's there is kind of reflected in that.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_00]: Another big guy, Eric, in this archetype is Caleb Tiernan, out of north-western, 6, 7, 325 pounds, allowed 9 sacks last season, big 10 competition, a 0.3% true pass-it-sack percentage.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_00]: best in the class.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_00]: 5.8% pressure rate in true pass sets, which is elite.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_00]: He is probably the best pass protector in this class, has around 2.5k snaps as a left tackle, 500 snaps as a right tackle, and he's got that pass pro upside which provides exceptional exceptional value, and I see him as
- 54:09[SPEAKER_00]: But his run blocking needs some work, you know, limited contribution, you know, in that zone scheme as well.
- 54:18[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're picking him, you know, late day two, day three, this has got to be your developmental right tackle that can slide.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_00]: Once Austin Jackson has gone in a year or two,
- 54:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I'm a little surprised that he didn't run the, you know, any of the other drills at the combat because, you know, the vertical was was pretty encouraging he's a guy that I would expect to have a pretty strong 10 yard split in the 40 which.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think leads to maybe having a little bit more upside as a wrong walker than what he showed at Northwestern in terms of just being able to get off the ball and and move.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_01]: Especially in an outside zone system like what Miami runs, but yeah, I think he's a guy that you look at.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, late day to early day three and.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: If you trust your offensive line coaches with him to where you can make him a suitable run blocker, then I think that there is upside for him to eventually be, you know, a starting tackle, but I think he is a guy that's going to have to spend some time developing behind an Austin Jackson for a year or two before he gets to that point.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_00]: All right, last player on the list and coach, I want you to talk about him
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and the players from there.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_00]: What is the best archetype for Drew Shelton?
- 55:50[SPEAKER_02]: Drew Shelton, definitely more of that.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_02]: past protectors swing tackle type guy.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't do a lot of NFL comps for players because I feel like you tend to it's tough at times to articulate what you want to express with that.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_02]: But Drew Shelton for me is basically the new version of Kendall Lamb.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think that he is a solid
- 56:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, maybe average is a run block or probably more like below average.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it's going to be one of those guys that you can put on your team and he can be that third tackle that can, you know, be the swing tackle could come in for a gamer to and you can get by the same thing we talked about with Kendall and where you're good with him coming in for a few games, but if you get into a situation where you need him to start for
- 56:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, eight, 10 games, then you're probably always going to be wishing that you had somebody else.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_02]: So a player that I like, but, you know, we've talked about the Austin Jackson situation.
- 57:04[SPEAKER_02]: This is not a player that I would want to come in and be that top option to replace Austin Jackson if we move on from him.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_00]: Alright?
- 57:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's where we'll leave it off that.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_00]: So it looks like we have our top 10 guys based on our three aggregates of how we ranked them before the show.
- 57:26[SPEAKER_00]: And it goes like the following, Spencer Fano at number one, Monroe Freeling at number two, Francis Maui Noah at number three,
- 57:40[SPEAKER_00]: Caged in Proctor 6, Max Hennacho at 7, Caleb Tiernan at 8, Austin Barber at 9 and JC Davis at 10.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_00]: If that was the top 10 offense of tackle ranking, that John Erick Sullivan and Jeff Hathley have on their board, how do you guys feel about it?
- 58:07[SPEAKER_01]: Twitter.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's an amalgamation of our lists.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_01]: I would feel pretty good about it.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, mostly, I would blow honestly that an NFL evaluator.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, as our perspectives.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_01]: No, but, um, I mean, we had to rank that way for a reason.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, and I think that when you look at these guys, especially the guys,
- 58:32[SPEAKER_01]: really good contributors at the NFL level.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, I'd be pretty happy with that list.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think it's a good list.
- 58:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a lot of solid candidates there.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think, you know, there's not a lot of guys that I see as being early career pro ball type guys, but I do feel like there are a lot of guys that eventually will be eight to 10 year starters here in the NFL.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we'll leave it at that stick with us here.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm scouting fins part of the three arch per carry podcast network.
- 59:07[SPEAKER_00]: Make sure you guys like, subscribe and comment as always.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_00]: You all go fins.
