- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to Radio Eye's Children's Story Hour. As
- 0:05Speaker 1: a reminder, Radio Eye is a reading service intended for
- 0:08Speaker 1: people who are blind or have other disabilities that make
- 0:12Speaker 1: it difficult to read printed material. Today, we will be
- 0:16Speaker 1: reading a couple of books. The first one will be Cameron,
- 0:20Speaker 1: the Confident and Colorful Carnotaurus, written and illustrated by Susan Mills,
- 0:26Speaker 1: published in 2025 by Rainbow Sparrow books. I'm Cameron Mills,
- 0:33Speaker 1: and believe it or not, this book was written about
- 0:36Speaker 1: me by my loving wife, who's sitting here with me.
- 0:41Speaker 1: We will start with Cameron, the confident and colorful Carnotaurus.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And on the front cover, it has a purple dinosaur
- 0:53Speaker 2: wearing an orange shirt with yellow spots and a teal color,
- 0:57Speaker 2: and he is wearing also teal basketball shoes. There's a
- 1:03Speaker 2: little pink bird that's flying, has a whistle in its beak,
- 1:08Speaker 2: and wearing a referee shirt, and Cameron, the Carnotaurus, is
- 1:13Speaker 2: bouncing a basketball, and he is in the clouds. And
- 1:22Speaker 2: the special message says.
- 1:25Speaker 1: To my husband Cameron, my forever number 21, I love
- 1:30Speaker 1: you and your beautiful bouncing brain. It was an ordinary,
- 1:37Speaker 1: uneventful kind of day. The day was what some dinosaurs
- 1:42Speaker 1: would call boring, but it was hardly boring for Cameron.
- 1:47Speaker 1: He was having amazing adventures with his imaginations.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So we see Cameron in, looks like inside his house.
- 1:56Speaker 2: And there's a big sign on the wall. And it
- 1:59Speaker 2: says in different colors, be kind. So he has a
- 2:03Speaker 2: thought bubble. And he is in a sailboat with a
- 2:07Speaker 2: big green sail on it. And he looks like he's
- 2:10Speaker 2: in the ocean. And the little pink bird is on
- 2:13Speaker 2: the floor. And it's thinking of a red apple with
- 2:17Speaker 2: a worm in it. One of the birds' favorite things,
- 2:20Speaker 2: I'm sure. And there's a window, and outside are trees
- 2:24Speaker 2: and lush green. And it's a sunny day. Yellow curtains
- 2:29Speaker 2: with a blue table. And there's a picture of Cameron
- 2:33Speaker 2: in the picture frame next to a vase of flowers.
- 2:39Speaker 1: He was building a cookie house with a chocolate fountain,
- 2:43Speaker 1: battling a cotton candy-breathing dragon, and running through fields of
- 2:47Speaker 1: french fries.
- 2:49Speaker 2: This is my favorite page because it shows this fountain
- 2:53Speaker 2: of chocolate. How amazing would that be? And the pink
- 2:58Speaker 2: bird is splashing just like a birdbath in the chocolate.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And we see Cameron and he is building this house
- 3:07Speaker 2: out of chocolate chip cookies. How amazing is that? And
- 3:13Speaker 2: then on the other page, we see this teal dragon,
- 3:16Speaker 2: and it has pink cotton candy fire coming out of
- 3:20Speaker 2: his mouth. And Cameron, the Carnotaurus, has a sword and
- 3:24Speaker 2: wearing a suit of armor and is battling the dragon.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And then my favorite food, french fries, at the bottom
- 3:31Speaker 2: of the page. And Cameron is shown running through the
- 3:34Speaker 2: french fries with a little bird flying off holding a
- 3:37Speaker 2: french fry in its beak.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Cameron could turn any boring day into an adventure, but
- 3:43Speaker 1: sometimes this got him into trouble. His brain was like
- 3:48Speaker 1: a basketball, bouncing from one thought to another, making it
- 3:52Speaker 1: hard to focus. Other times, his body wouldn't stop wiggling.
- 3:57Speaker 2: So their basketball is just bouncing all over the pages.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And here's the little pink bird again, wearing a referee
- 4:06Speaker 2: shirt and a whistle, trying. to get Cameron to stop wiggling.
- 4:12Speaker 2: He's on the other page and guess what? He is
- 4:16Speaker 2: upside down and he is spinning around on his head.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Cameron had tricks to help him focus. But when he
- 4:28Speaker 1: wanted to let loose, there was one place he would
- 4:31Speaker 1: always go. The Whispering Woods. This is where the leaves
- 4:36Speaker 1: sang songs and he felt free to wiggle along As
- 4:40Speaker 1: he bounced from tree to tree one morning, he heard
- 4:43Speaker 1: a soft cry.
- 4:45Speaker 2: So here's Cameron running through the trees, and there are songs,
- 4:50Speaker 2: and the bird, the little pink bird, is singing and
- 4:55Speaker 2: so happy. You can tell that it's a really calm place.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Hello? Is anyone out there? Cameron called out. A small
- 5:07Speaker 1: and faint voice replied, Over here, I'm stuck. Cameron followed
- 5:13Speaker 1: the sounds of the voice and found a little minme
- 5:17Speaker 1: trapped between two rocks.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So you can see Cameron and he's got his eyes
- 5:22Speaker 2: closed and he is shouting, screaming at the top of
- 5:27Speaker 2: his lungs. Is there anyone out there? And the little
- 5:31Speaker 2: bird has a megaphone. Even the little bird is trying
- 5:35Speaker 2: to help too and on the other page you have
- 5:38Speaker 2: this series of footprints Where Cameron has walked and little
- 5:43Speaker 2: bird footprints where the bird has walked and they lead
- 5:47Speaker 2: right to this little red men me and She has
- 5:52Speaker 2: her body almost looks like a strawberry. It has little
- 5:56Speaker 2: black polka dots on it and she has a little
- 6:00Speaker 2: spiked tail and And she's wearing a little blue necklace.
- 6:04Speaker 2: And she's trapped between two rocks.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Hang on. Don't worry. I'll help you, Cameron said, his
- 6:12Speaker 1: mind racing with ideas. Cameron tried pushing the rocks away
- 6:17Speaker 1: with his strong body, but they wouldn't move. He tried
- 6:21Speaker 1: pushing his new friend out from the rocks with his head,
- 6:25Speaker 1: but that didn't work either. His thoughts bounced from one
- 6:30Speaker 1: idea to another. Maybe if I.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Wait, what about... No. Well, I could try.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Cameron found himself running in circles.
- 6:42Speaker 2: So we see Cameron trying to use his back to
- 6:47Speaker 2: push the rocks. And he's straining. He's got his eyes closed.
- 6:52Speaker 2: And the little pink bird is standing there with little
- 6:57Speaker 2: orange glow sticks trying to direct all of this. like
- 7:01Speaker 2: a traffic controller. And then the little red menme has
- 7:05Speaker 2: a worried face. And then we see Cameron trying to
- 7:09Speaker 2: use his head to push the menme out. And both
- 7:13Speaker 2: of them have their eyes squinted and trying really hard
- 7:16Speaker 2: to get free. And then the bird on the other page,
- 7:20Speaker 2: you have this basketball that's bouncing from all of these thoughts.
- 7:25Speaker 2: And the bird has an exclamation point going, What?
- 7:32Speaker 1: The Minmei knew her friend wanted to help and could
- 7:35Speaker 1: use some encouragement. Are you okay? Cameron smiled a little.
- 7:42Speaker 1: It's just how my brain works. It's always full of ideas,
- 7:46Speaker 1: but sometimes they're hard to catch. Don't worry, we'll get
- 7:50Speaker 1: you out. I won't give up.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Love this. So there's a big picture of the little
- 7:57Speaker 2: red Minmei's head and she's smiling. She's not worried anymore
- 8:02Speaker 2: because she has a new friend that's going to help
- 8:04Speaker 2: her out. And then you see a large head that's
- 8:08Speaker 2: Cameron's head, and he has a little smile too because
- 8:13Speaker 2: now he has found a friend that believes in him.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Just then, an old stegosaurus came walking by. This was
- 8:24Speaker 1: old Spike, and he was known for having a lot
- 8:27Speaker 1: of answers to a lot of questions. Do you little
- 8:32Speaker 1: ones need some help? Old Spike asked, his voice deep
- 8:35Speaker 1: and gentle.
- 8:36Speaker 2: So Cameron is standing there and he's got the worried
- 8:40Speaker 2: face back and he's looking up into the sky with
- 8:44Speaker 2: worried eyes, just feeling deflated. And the little bird and
- 8:50Speaker 2: the Minmi are there and the Minmi's smiling. She's not
- 8:53Speaker 2: worried because she has friends there. And Old Spike says,
- 8:57Speaker 2: is this old stegosaurus that has wrinkly skin. He's kind
- 9:02Speaker 2: of like this dark yellow with dark teal spikes on
- 9:07Speaker 2: his back and spiked tail, and he's wearing old brown shoes.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Words began tumbling out of Cameron's mouth as he tried
- 9:19Speaker 1: to explain the situation in detail. Old Spike listened patiently.
- 9:25Speaker 1: He then kindly said, Take a deep breath and tell
- 9:28Speaker 1: me your ideas one at a time. Cameron took a
- 9:32Speaker 1: deep breath. I was going to use a log to
- 9:36Speaker 1: move the rocks, but I couldn't find one large enough.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I thought I could dig under the rocks, but I
- 9:42Speaker 1: didn't want the rocks to move and fall on my
- 9:45Speaker 1: new friend. Hey, what if we push together to move
- 9:49Speaker 1: the rocks?
- 9:51Speaker 2: So here's Cameron. He's talking really fast, and you can see...
- 9:56Speaker 2: a little speech bubble and it's got a whole bunch
- 9:59Speaker 2: of squiggly lines. in it because he has so many
- 10:02Speaker 2: amazing ideas and they're going so fast through his head
- 10:06Speaker 2: and the men me is looking up at Cameron and
- 10:09Speaker 2: She has this old Expression and the bird is even
- 10:14Speaker 2: kind of chirping along but Old Spike is standing there
- 10:18Speaker 2: with a smile on his face, listening to all of
- 10:22Speaker 2: the ideas.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Great idea. Let's give it a try, encouraged Old Spike.
- 10:30Speaker 1: They positioned themselves next to each rock. Cameron said, One, two, three, push!
- 10:39Speaker 2: So here's Cameron and Old Spike, and they are using
- 10:43Speaker 2: their heads to push together. The rocks and the minme,
- 10:48Speaker 2: and even the little bird is helping out. And the
- 10:52Speaker 2: little pink bird is pushing the word push.
- 10:58Speaker 1: The rocks began to move until suddenly, pop! She was free.
- 11:04Speaker 1: They all screamed, yay, we did it! The minme turned
- 11:09Speaker 1: sweetly and said, thank you so much. By the way,
- 11:12Speaker 1: my name is Molly. Do you want to be friends?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Cameron's heart was so full of joy. You bet. I
- 11:20Speaker 1: would love to be friends.
- 11:22Speaker 2: So the Menmi on one page is breaking free from
- 11:26Speaker 2: the rocks. And you can see the rocks with the
- 11:29Speaker 2: little squiggly lines like they're moving. And the Menmi has
- 11:33Speaker 2: like a big black starburst coming out. And that's the
- 11:37Speaker 2: movement that she's been set free. And on the other page,
- 11:41Speaker 2: you have Cameron, the Carnotaurus, that's looking down at his
- 11:44Speaker 2: new friend, And he's smiling. And the little pink bird
- 11:49Speaker 2: is sitting on his back, holding a sign that has
- 11:51Speaker 2: a red heart on it. And the Minmi is looking
- 11:55Speaker 2: up at Cameron. And that's when she's asking if he
- 11:57Speaker 2: wants to be her friend. And Old Spike is standing there,
- 12:03Speaker 2: looking pleased with the whole team.
- 12:08Speaker 1: As they walked out of the Whispering Woods, Old Spike said,
- 12:12Speaker 1: You did well today, Cameron. Remember, Your busy brain can
- 12:16Speaker 1: do amazing things. Cameron agreed. I'll try to remember that,
- 12:20Speaker 1: and thanks for your help.
- 12:22Speaker 2: So you see the whole team walking out of the
- 12:26Speaker 2: Whispering Woods with the big trees, and Cameron and the
- 12:31Speaker 2: little Minmi Molly, they're both smiling, and old Spike is
- 12:36Speaker 2: smiling too with his big wrinkly smile, and up on
- 12:41Speaker 2: the hill you see an orange house with a yellow
- 12:44Speaker 2: roof and a stone fireplace and some little bushes with
- 12:51Speaker 2: some flowers on it and clouds in the sky.
- 12:55Speaker 1: As for Cameron and Molly, they became the best of friends.
- 12:59Speaker 1: They had so many adventures together, both with their imaginations
- 13:03Speaker 1: and in everyday life.
- 13:06Speaker 2: So here's Cameron and Molly and the little pink bird.
- 13:12Speaker 2: sitting on the grass, and Cameron and Molly both have
- 13:16Speaker 2: a thought bubble, and it's them climbing a mountain together,
- 13:20Speaker 2: and at the top of the mountain is a flag
- 13:24Speaker 2: that they've put on the top of the mountain that
- 13:26Speaker 2: has a C and an M for Cameron and Molly.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And the little bird, guess what it's thinking about? The
- 13:34Speaker 2: bird is snorkeling, swimming in water with the fish. And
- 13:40Speaker 2: then on the other page, you have Cameron and Molly,
- 13:43Speaker 2: and Cameron has Molly on his feet, and Molly is
- 13:47Speaker 2: pretending like she's Superman. And then my favorite, at the
- 13:52Speaker 2: bottom of the page, is Cameron driving a motorcycle, and
- 13:57Speaker 2: the little Minmi and the bird is in the side car,
- 14:00Speaker 2: and they're all wearing helmets, and the motorcycle has a
- 14:04Speaker 2: number 21 on it.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And whenever things... got a little frustrating. Cameron remembered the
- 14:11Speaker 1: lesson he learned in the Whispering Woods. A busy brain
- 14:16Speaker 1: can create big solutions, even when things seem tough.
- 14:21Speaker 2: So here's Cameron, and he has a thought bubble with
- 14:24Speaker 2: a light bulb in it. And he has his arms
- 14:27Speaker 2: up like he's celebrating with a big smile on his face.
- 14:34Speaker 1: So question time. Number one. Are there times when you
- 14:39Speaker 1: feel like your brain is going too fast? Number two.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Do you sometimes feel it's hard to pay attention when
- 14:52Speaker 1: someone is talking to you? Number three. When your body
- 14:59Speaker 1: feels like it needs to wiggle, what do you do?
- 15:05Speaker 1: Number four. What can you say to a friend that
- 15:10Speaker 1: may get upset when things don't go their way? And finally,
- 15:18Speaker 1: what do you wish people understood better about you?
- 15:23Speaker 2: These are all great questions to ask yourself and talk
- 15:26Speaker 2: about them with someone that loves you and that you
- 15:29Speaker 2: love them. And there's at the bottom of the thought
- 15:32Speaker 2: page is a little bird again wearing the referee shirt.
- 15:38Speaker 2: And that concludes Cameron, the Confident and Colorful Carnotaurus, written
- 15:43Speaker 2: so lovingly.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Based on my husband's life. Without my permission, the unauthorized
- 15:50Speaker 1: autobiography or biography.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Okay, I think we're going to have time to read
- 15:55Speaker 2: one more book. And this book was published by Rainbow
- 16:01Speaker 2: Sparrow Publishing in 2022. And it's written and illustrated by myself,
- 16:08Speaker 2: Susan Mills. And the name of this book is Stella,
- 16:11Speaker 2: the Sweet and Spunky Stegosaurus. On the front of the cover,
- 16:16Speaker 2: you have a pink stegosaurus with purple spikes and purple
- 16:21Speaker 2: spots on her body and wearing like a yellow necklace
- 16:26Speaker 2: with orange stripes. And it looks like she's wiggling her tail,
- 16:31Speaker 2: standing on a big rock with her little yellow bird buddy.
- 16:37Speaker 2: And the special message inside, my son's name is Alex,
- 16:42Speaker 2: and so this book was for him. It says, To Alex,
- 16:45Speaker 2: the bravest kid I know and my everyday hero. Love, Mom.
- 16:50Speaker 2: So this was the very first book I ever wrote,
- 16:53Speaker 2: and it was just for him. Stella was a little
- 16:58Speaker 2: stegosaurus who lived with her family among the tall evergreen trees.
- 17:03Speaker 2: She had a large rounded back with upright plates and
- 17:06Speaker 2: a beautiful spiked tail held high in the air. We
- 17:10Speaker 2: see Stella, the stegosaurus, standing in a large grassy field
- 17:16Speaker 2: with a little yellow bird on her back. And we
- 17:20Speaker 2: see a yellow house with an orange roof and big
- 17:23Speaker 2: pine trees and green bushes and rocks. And we see
- 17:28Speaker 2: little tails kind of sticking out from the bottom of
- 17:31Speaker 2: the page that must be her family with orange and
- 17:35Speaker 2: blue tails. When Stella was really excited, her tail would
- 17:40Speaker 2: wiggle and jiggle, shimmy and shake. And you see her
- 17:43Speaker 2: big pink tail with purple spikes on it just wiggling
- 17:49Speaker 2: and jiggling and shimmying and shaking. One sunny afternoon while
- 17:54Speaker 2: Stella was playing, a few of her little stegosaurus friends
- 17:56Speaker 2: from school approached her. She's standing on a rock and
- 18:00Speaker 2: her little blue and yellow stegosaurus friends with spikes on
- 18:04Speaker 2: their back are approaching her. There's a little red ball
- 18:08Speaker 2: on the ground. She's wearing a princess crown with a
- 18:13Speaker 2: star wand and the little yellow bird is carrying a
- 18:16Speaker 2: star wand too. They say, would you like to play
- 18:20Speaker 2: with us? And Stella did not know what to say.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Stella has question marks all around her head and this
- 18:30Speaker 2: worried look on her face. She got so excited that
- 18:35Speaker 2: her tail started wiggling and jiggling, shimmying and shaking. She's
- 18:40Speaker 2: standing on the rock and she's shimmying and shaking so
- 18:42Speaker 2: much that her tiara, her crown falls off and the
- 18:46Speaker 2: bird's running away and the wand goes flying. When Stella
- 18:50Speaker 2: didn't reply, her friends walked away, leaving Stella very sad.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I wonder why they left me, Stella thought to herself.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And you see Stella's head and their little tears coming
- 19:01Speaker 2: out of her eyes. Stella played and played, stopping sometimes
- 19:07Speaker 2: to munch yummy leaves from bushes. And you see her
- 19:11Speaker 2: head stuck in a bush here, and the little bird's
- 19:14Speaker 2: bottom is sticking out of the bush with a little
- 19:17Speaker 2: purple house on top of the hills. She liked playing
- 19:20Speaker 2: by herself, but she often thought it would be nice
- 19:22Speaker 2: to have a friend to play with. Here, she's laying
- 19:26Speaker 2: on the floor, and these little birds are building a
- 19:30Speaker 2: house with little twigs and leaves. She did want to
- 19:37Speaker 2: play with friends, but she didn't have any. Stella began
- 19:42Speaker 2: walking through trees until she came upon a rather odd-looking dinosaur.
- 19:45Speaker 2: This dinosaur had a long neck. Was very. very tall,
- 19:51Speaker 2: and had a bump on top of its head. She
- 19:54Speaker 2: stood there sweetly waiting for the other dinosaur to say something. Finally,
- 19:59Speaker 2: the dinosaur said, Hi, my name is Brody, and I'm
- 20:03Speaker 2: a brachiosaurus. What's your name? So you see Stella on
- 20:07Speaker 2: the page and she has her eyes squinted and she's
- 20:09Speaker 2: smiling and she has a very sweet face. And even
- 20:13Speaker 2: the bird is doing the same thing. And they're standing
- 20:15Speaker 2: in this field of trees. And the huge brachiosaurus across
- 20:20Speaker 2: from her is wearing an orange shirt and blue tennis shoes.
- 20:24Speaker 2: And just so happens to have a yellow brace on
- 20:27Speaker 2: his leg. But the funniest thing of all is this
- 20:30Speaker 2: dinosaur is wearing a ball cap backwards. Stella was unsure.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Of what to say, she had so many words running
- 20:38Speaker 2: through her head, but none would come out. She's thinking, hello? Play?
- 20:44Speaker 1: Friend?
- 20:46Speaker 2: It shows her head with a big expression of worry
- 20:49Speaker 2: on there. Her tail started to wiggle and jiggle and
- 20:52Speaker 2: shimmy and shake. You see a big picture of her tail,
- 20:56Speaker 2: and it is wiggling. Brody patiently waited for Stella to reply. Finally,
- 21:02Speaker 2: he said, do you have a name? Can you speak?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Stella tried with all her might to ask him to
- 21:09Speaker 2: be her friend, but soon the other dinosaur grew tired
- 21:12Speaker 2: and walked away. So Brody's leaning his big neck down
- 21:17Speaker 2: and asking her the question, but she's looking up at
- 21:20Speaker 2: him worried. And then it shows the brachiosaurus just walking
- 21:26Speaker 2: off the page. And Stella is looking shocked at what
- 21:31Speaker 2: just happened. And the bird has a worried face because
- 21:34Speaker 2: the bird feels sorry for Stella. Why can't I find
- 21:39Speaker 2: a friend? Stella was heartbroken, but she didn't give up.
- 21:43Speaker 2: She wandered on, gently rummaging through ferns and low-hanging branches,
- 21:47Speaker 2: hoping someone special was nearby. It shows Stella with tears
- 21:52Speaker 2: coming out of her eyes. And underneath her head is
- 21:54Speaker 2: the little yellow bird with an umbrella, catching the tears.
- 22:00Speaker 2: And then it shows her eating the leaves off of
- 22:03Speaker 2: trees and the bird helping her eat. Suddenly, out of nowhere,
- 22:07Speaker 2: another dinosaur ran across her path. It was fast, had
- 22:11Speaker 2: a horned beak and a long tail. It stopped, turned
- 22:14Speaker 2: towards Stella and said, Hi, my name is Drew, the Dryosaurus.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I've been looking for someone to play with. You see
- 22:21Speaker 2: this yellow, dark yellow dinosaur with brown stripes and wearing
- 22:26Speaker 2: blue pants running through the field. and scaring the bird.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And he's standing by a pile of rocks with bushes
- 22:35Speaker 2: and trees in the background. He says, I have looked here, there, everywhere.
- 22:42Speaker 2: And it shows the little dryosaurus peeking out from a
- 22:46Speaker 2: blue house, peeking over a rock. And then I see
- 22:51Speaker 2: his little tail poking out from behind the word everywhere
- 22:56Speaker 2: on a tall green hill. Will you play with me,
- 22:59Speaker 2: asked Drew. Stella was so happy, her tail started to
- 23:03Speaker 2: wiggle and jiggle, shimmy and shake. She ran in circles
- 23:07Speaker 2: and let out a loud grunt. So she's so excited,
- 23:11Speaker 2: you can see her almost dancing in the field. And
- 23:15Speaker 2: Drew is happy, and the little bird is even singing. Great,
- 23:21Speaker 2: says Drew. Can you teach me how to wiggle and jiggle,
- 23:25Speaker 2: shimmy and shake my tail? So Drew has a very
- 23:29Speaker 2: happy face on because now his new friend can teach
- 23:33Speaker 2: him how to do something he doesn't know how to do.
- 23:36Speaker 2: From that day on, the two friends stomped and played,
- 23:41Speaker 2: learning all the secrets of how to be the best
- 23:44Speaker 2: dinosaurs they could be. You see Drew and Stella with
- 23:49Speaker 2: a red ball, and it looks like they're playing catch
- 23:52Speaker 2: with their noses or their heads. And Stella is propped
- 23:56Speaker 2: up against the rock and Drew is standing on top
- 24:00Speaker 2: of the rock. And they're both smiling and they are
- 24:03Speaker 2: both having so much fun. They were very different, that
- 24:10Speaker 2: was true. But their differences were fun and beautiful. Sometimes
- 24:16Speaker 2: these differences make the best kind of friendships. And you
- 24:21Speaker 2: see Stella here and Drew smiling. It looks like inside
- 24:25Speaker 2: a house and they're standing on a rug. And there's
- 24:28Speaker 2: a music player playing music. And Stella is wearing headphones
- 24:34Speaker 2: because maybe sometimes the music is too loud for her ears.
- 24:38Speaker 2: So she has to wear headphones. And Drew is shouting.
- 24:43Speaker 2: And there's a picture of a dinosaur hanging on the wall.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Everyone's dancing and playing. And on the other... side of
- 24:50Speaker 2: the page when it says sometimes these differences make the
- 24:54Speaker 2: best friendships you see both of their tails wiggling Stella
- 25:01Speaker 2: the sweet and spunky stegosaurus had found a true friend
- 25:05Speaker 2: and here's Stella and Drew on top of a huge
- 25:10Speaker 2: red heart and Stella is of course wiggling and jiggling
- 25:16Speaker 2: her tail And has a happy face because she found
- 25:20Speaker 2: a friend. So now it's question time. And on the
- 25:25Speaker 2: other page has the little yellow bird asking some questions.
- 25:30Speaker 2: The first question is, who is someone you believe might
- 25:35Speaker 2: need a friend? Maybe it's someone you go to school with.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Maybe it's someone that lives in the neighborhood where you live.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Maybe they're in church with you. But who is someone
- 25:47Speaker 2: that you think could use a friend? We could all
- 25:49Speaker 2: use one. What are several ways that you can communicate
- 25:54Speaker 2: without speaking? Really think about it. There are so many
- 25:59Speaker 2: ways that we can communicate or say things without actually speaking.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Think about our eyes. Think about our mouths. Think about
- 26:09Speaker 2: our body. How can we communicate? Where could you make
- 26:13Speaker 2: new friends? Maybe that's school. Maybe it's in your neighborhood.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Do you have a special place where you can make
- 26:20Speaker 2: new friends? The playground? When have you felt left out?
- 26:25Speaker 2: Sometimes we all feel left out. Maybe that's because we
- 26:30Speaker 2: feel uncomfortable. Maybe it's because we're in a new place
- 26:33Speaker 2: we haven't visited before. How do you feel when you're
- 26:38Speaker 2: playing with friends? I have friends, and when I play
- 26:43Speaker 2: with friends, I feel happy. And it makes my friends
- 26:47Speaker 2: feel happy too. Because not only are we playing, but
- 26:51Speaker 2: we're also learning about ourselves and learning about each other.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Why do you believe it's important to include others? This
- 27:00Speaker 2: is really important. You know how you like to be
- 27:04Speaker 2: included in things? Others do too. And sometimes it's not
- 27:10Speaker 2: easy for everyone to make new friends. Maybe you're great
- 27:15Speaker 2: at making new friends and you can introduce your new
- 27:19Speaker 2: friends to each other. And then you can have a
- 27:22Speaker 2: big group of friends. It's important to include others because
- 27:26Speaker 2: sometimes being left out doesn't feel very good. And on
- 27:33Speaker 2: the back of the page, it has the little blue
- 27:36Speaker 2: house with a little tiara. And that concludes... Children's Story
