Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's up, everybody? It's Jeff
- 0:14Speaker 1: Mosher and Adam Kaplan. And, oh, for the ninth or
- 0:17Speaker 1: tenth time in the history of Inside the Birds, we
- 0:19Speaker 1: get to react to the Eagles and their initial 53-man roster. Adam,
- 0:26Speaker 1: it was released Sunday by 6 p.m. We'll go through
- 0:29Speaker 1: the positions. I can't say– there were a couple of surprises,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but nothing so earth-shattering that we're like, wow, stop the presses.
- 0:37Speaker 1: We need to do like an emergency– immediate ITB. So
- 0:40Speaker 1: why don't we just start from the top here. Quarterback,
- 0:44Speaker 1: we talked about it. They kept four with Cole Payton
- 0:47Speaker 1: being the fourth. They didn't make any cuts. And, you know,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I think you and I both thought three. Or did
- 0:53Speaker 1: we both have four? I can't even remember.
- 0:54Speaker 2: We both had three. This is more than reaction. This
- 0:57Speaker 2: is an Intel show. Yeah, here's the way I see it.
- 1:03Speaker 2: They want to develop Cole Payton. Now, I would argue
- 1:07Speaker 2: he probably would have not been claimed of waivers but
- 1:11Speaker 2: they want to they they really would like to develop
- 1:14Speaker 2: this player now there are some people around the league
- 1:16Speaker 2: who don't believe he's a quarterback who believe he's got
- 1:19Speaker 2: to be a fullback not big enough to be a
- 1:23Speaker 2: tight end but there are a lot of people don't
- 1:26Speaker 2: think he's a quarterback but the eagles clearly think he
- 1:28Speaker 2: is now what you want to do is get him
- 1:30Speaker 2: to the offseason maybe because they didn't do it maybe
- 1:33Speaker 2: there's some specialty plays wildcat quarterback do something different with them,
- 1:38Speaker 2: which we didn't see other than we saw in the
- 1:40Speaker 2: preseason game on special teams. But they clearly want to
- 1:44Speaker 2: develop this guy. That's my interest in this thing is
- 1:50Speaker 2: that's what they want him to do, be a quarterback.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Don't necessarily agree with other teams here. We'll learn a
- 1:56Speaker 2: lot more in year two if he's still here. But
- 2:00Speaker 2: to keep him on the 53-man roster, which you talked about,
- 2:03Speaker 2: and keep four quarterbacks, You're not doing this just to
- 2:06Speaker 2: cut them tomorrow or, excuse me, Monday afternoon if they
- 2:09Speaker 2: claim other players. I would think they would be keeping
- 2:13Speaker 2: him here to develop them.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And we talked about the complications of trying to develop
- 2:18Speaker 1: a fourth quarterback because the starter gets all the reps
- 2:21Speaker 1: in practice many times. Sometimes the backup, oftentimes I should say,
- 2:24Speaker 1: does not get reps because you're preparing your starters to
- 2:27Speaker 1: play each week. So the third quarterback, in this case,
- 2:31Speaker 1: Andy Dalton, Maybe he'll run the scouts. I don't know what.
- 2:34Speaker 1: He'll get almost zero reps. And then any development that's
- 2:37Speaker 1: going to happen for Cole Payton has to happen after practices,
- 2:41Speaker 1: special periods that they do before a game. It's not
- 2:45Speaker 1: like every single day he's going to get really awesome
- 2:48Speaker 1: work against the first team defense or anything like that.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Two things.
- 2:53Speaker 2: They have a developmental period before and after practice. And
- 2:56Speaker 2: then what John D. Filippo told me, in fact, you
- 2:59Speaker 2: probably saw this, when He would develop Nate Sudfeld.
- 3:03Speaker 1: It's going back. This is like before each game. Yeah.
- 3:10Speaker 2: That's it.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Good call.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So John said that he, this is why he did it.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Jamarcus Russell. John was the quarterbacks coach when Jamarcus Russell
- 3:19Speaker 2: was a rookie. And. Russell held out. He didn't sign
- 3:25Speaker 2: until well past the season. And he's like, I don't
- 3:27Speaker 2: know what else we can do here. But what I'm
- 3:29Speaker 2: going to do is I'm going to warm him up.
- 3:31Speaker 2: I'm going to warm up individually. We're going to develop him.
- 3:33Speaker 2: That way, get extra reps. So Cole Payton, this is
- 3:37Speaker 2: what Parks Frazier, the quarterbacks coach, should be doing. Cole
- 3:41Speaker 2: Payton is not going to step field with his team
- 3:44Speaker 2: this season. He's on the 53-man roster. So get him
- 3:48Speaker 2: extra reps. Good point that you brought up. They have
- 3:51Speaker 2: to do something to try to develop him. Because he's
- 3:54Speaker 2: not even on the scout team. Now, he could be
- 3:56Speaker 2: on the look team, which is you mimic what the
- 4:00Speaker 2: other athletic quarterback will do from the other team, which
- 4:02Speaker 2: he did a number of times with other quarterbacks if
- 4:05Speaker 2: they had one when they would face Russell Wilson. But anyway,
- 4:09Speaker 2: that's where it's at with quarterback right now.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, and then I'll just say this. I don't think
- 4:13Speaker 1: this is going to happen, but we always call it
- 4:15Speaker 1: the initial 53 for a reason. And Howie does have
- 4:18Speaker 1: a good sense of, Sometimes you let teams go through
- 4:20Speaker 1: the first 24 to 48 hours to put their 53 together.
- 4:23Speaker 1: And then you wave a guy to bring somebody else
- 4:26Speaker 1: back on thinking that that guy's not going to get
- 4:29Speaker 1: claimed because teams are too busy or they've already filled
- 4:32Speaker 1: out that position. So maybe something happens there or maybe
- 4:35Speaker 1: they do want to use him in an other athletic
- 4:37Speaker 1: way that, you know, because like I said, he was
- 4:39Speaker 1: the punt protector there. on special teams in the preseason finale.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I doubt it, but I'm just giving all these options
- 4:46Speaker 1: that do exist so that we cover all of our bases.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Running back was pretty chalked there. I know there are
- 4:53Speaker 1: fan favorites. The fans have really rallied around Carson Steele.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And we do know the Eagles have a history of
- 4:59Speaker 1: having a fourth running back on the 53 who collects dust,
- 5:02Speaker 1: but they finally are deciding that they don't need that.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And I think that that's fine. It makes sense that
- 5:06Speaker 1: you've got the three you need.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yeah, now, Because Carson Steele put up a ridiculous amount
- 5:14Speaker 2: of catches over two games, like 15. Right. He now
- 5:20Speaker 2: went from having zero chance of getting claimed. He might
- 5:22Speaker 2: get claimed. Claims, just so you know, are 1 o'clock today,
- 5:25Speaker 2: which is Monday. And then this is the one thing,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and this is me getting on top of my hill
- 5:32Speaker 2: every year. Inexperienced agents go on Twitter and they go,
- 5:37Speaker 2: congratulations to my player, Phil, in the name. of making
- 5:40Speaker 2: the Eagles roster. But the problem is, and it's happened
- 5:43Speaker 2: so many times is, yeah, he's on the roster till
- 5:46Speaker 2: five o'clock Eastern. If the Eagles claim a couple of players,
- 5:50Speaker 2: they got, they have to make room. They got to
- 5:52Speaker 2: cut a couple of players. And that's the worst is
- 5:55Speaker 2: of when the guy is in his hotel room.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And he gets cut at four hours later after he
- 6:03Speaker 2: was of claim players. And that agent probably will have
- 6:06Speaker 2: to delete what he put because he looks like an idiot.
- 6:09Speaker 2: So memo agents don't say shit. Okay. Say, Hey man,
- 6:13Speaker 2: you're here initially, but let's, let's get past waivers first
- 6:16Speaker 2: on Monday. Then we'll see. And on your point, by
- 6:20Speaker 2: the way, they could still, they're going to make more
- 6:21Speaker 2: moves Tuesday, Wednesday on the practice squad.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And, and who knows, depending like if some veterans are
- 6:28Speaker 2: cut and you don't want to guarantee their, their salary.
- 6:32Speaker 2: We've talked about this with you. You don't have them
- 6:35Speaker 2: on the week one roster, but you can do the
- 6:37Speaker 2: roster tango. You bring them to the practice squad. You go, hey, listen,
- 6:40Speaker 2: we don't want to guarantee your salary fully by being
- 6:43Speaker 2: on the week one roster. So how about you go
- 6:45Speaker 2: to our practice squad? Then we'll bring you up on
- 6:48Speaker 2: week two. So there are a lot of maneuverabilities here.
- 6:51Speaker 2: For sure.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And that leads us into the next position because that
- 6:54Speaker 1: might be the case. We'll see. They keep six receivers.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And even though I made a case and had Elijah
- 7:00Speaker 1: Moore on my 53, Adam, I'm still a little surprised
- 7:03Speaker 1: that it actually wound up happening because by the end
- 7:06Speaker 1: of our podcast, I had talked myself into thinking I
- 7:08Speaker 1: was an idiot for doing it, but he makes it
- 7:10Speaker 1: along with Darius Cooper and Hollywood Brown. And of course
- 7:13Speaker 1: the top three are Devante Smith.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Listen, Moore deserves it, but unless he, unless he, he
- 7:19Speaker 2: returns punts this week, he's not going to play. Yep.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I agree. It's either going to be him or Covey.
- 7:24Speaker 2: So Covey was cut. He's not, he's vested. So he's
- 7:27Speaker 2: not subject to waivers. We'll see if they bring him
- 7:29Speaker 2: to the practice squad. I would make sense. He's still
- 7:32Speaker 2: a really good punt returner, but he looked great in
- 7:34Speaker 2: training camp doing it.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:36Speaker 2: But, look, good for Moore. You know, good for Moore. Now,
- 7:38Speaker 2: I think you and I talked about this. If I'm
- 7:40Speaker 2: Elijah Moore, it's nice that he's on the roster. But, man,
- 7:46Speaker 2: it's like I don't know who his agent is. But
- 7:49Speaker 2: I'd want him in Miami. Anywhere he can make money.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Excuse me. He doesn't need the money so much. Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Anywhere he can have a big role. He's not going
- 7:56Speaker 2: to have a role here.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I get it. And I'm not confident by the time
- 8:01Speaker 1: we do our next podcast he's still going to be
- 8:03Speaker 1: on the big three.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah. And we'll get to tight end. Let's move over
- 8:07Speaker 2: to tight end. Darius Cooper made it. There was never
- 8:10Speaker 2: a doubt that he was going to make it.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 8:11Speaker 2: He had a great training camp. Yeah, he had a
- 8:14Speaker 2: couple drops.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think he finished strong, but it wasn't terrible. No, no.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Look, he had some drops. But, look, Howie is not
- 8:21Speaker 2: one to cut guys that have been an unbelievable find
- 8:25Speaker 2: for their scouting staff. I think it's Cam Bradfield and
- 8:28Speaker 2: good job by Howie to sign him. Like, he bought
- 8:31Speaker 2: in and he– you know, he did a great job.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So then tight end, this one was a minor surprise.
- 8:38Speaker 2: There was never any really real true surprises, but EJ
- 8:41Speaker 2: Jenkins has been on and off the roster several times
- 8:43Speaker 2: for three years.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Good for now. Again, initially Calcaterra, he's got a back injury.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Greg Calcaterra has had it for a couple of weeks.
- 8:51Speaker 2: He's on IR designation for return. We'll see when he's ready.
- 8:54Speaker 2: So Jenkins on the roster for now, but They just
- 8:58Speaker 2: clearly don't like Cam Latu. We've talked about this the
- 9:00Speaker 2: last couple weeks. I don't know what it is that
- 9:02Speaker 2: they don't like about him.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I agree. I mean, EJ had a really bad drop
- 9:07Speaker 1: in that preseason.
- 9:07Speaker 2: So did Cam Latu.
- 9:08Speaker 1: He had a drop as well. But EJ's was that
- 9:11Speaker 1: concentration one where you're trying to head upfield before you
- 9:13Speaker 1: have the ball in your hand. That really– ticks coaches off,
- 9:16Speaker 1: but he can block Adam. And obviously, if you want
- 9:18Speaker 1: to run some 12 and maybe even do some 13
- 9:20Speaker 1: early on, and with Calcaterra, of course, being on injured reserve,
- 9:24Speaker 1: you can put Munt and Jenkins out there to block
- 9:27Speaker 1: and Goddard as a flex if you want to do that.
- 9:30Speaker 1: You have that optionality. Again, you and I thought you
- 9:32Speaker 1: could have done that also with Latu, but they see
- 9:34Speaker 1: something more in EJ Jenkins.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and we'll see if Latu gets claimed. And Stone Smart,
- 9:39Speaker 2: by the way, who was actually vested, he's a vested veteran,
- 9:43Speaker 2: He makes perfect sense. He had actually a really good,
- 9:46Speaker 2: he had a better training camp than Jenkins, I thought,
- 9:48Speaker 2: but Jenkins is a better blocker. EJ Jenkins, I'll say
- 9:52Speaker 2: he's a former college receiver. He's gotten much better and
- 9:54Speaker 2: he's a big dude. Big guy.
- 9:57Speaker 1: As I've gotten older, I've really tried to concentrate. on
- 10:00Speaker 1: my physical health, my body, making sure I'm putting the
- 10:03Speaker 1: right things in and the healthiest things in. I've always
- 10:06Speaker 1: heard about creatine, but I wasn't really sure about using

- 12:52Speaker 2: If I'm not mistaken, I got the 10 right on
- 12:54Speaker 2: the online. I know I'm very close. If I didn't
- 12:55Speaker 2: get it right, Michael Morris on it, I don't think
- 12:57Speaker 2: you did.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yes, I didn't. I had John Ojukwu on it instead.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Ojukwu, I didn't. I could certainly see the fact he was,
- 13:08Speaker 2: he should have been waived. He's definitely, yeah, he's not. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 2: he was waived. So he's a guy that if he
- 13:14Speaker 2: doesn't get claimed, he could get claimed, by the way, Ojukwu.
- 13:18Speaker 2: He absolutely could get waived. I mean, he can get claimed.
- 13:20Speaker 2: But yeah, so Lampkin had a phenomenal camp, was never
- 13:24Speaker 2: in question. It's weird, though, with him. He wouldn't get
- 13:27Speaker 2: any even second team reps until the second week. And
- 13:30Speaker 2: then he just cleaned up. And the tape was phenomenal
- 13:35Speaker 2: in week two. So he made it. And Michael Morris is,
- 13:40Speaker 2: you know, you want to hold on to guys like this. Yep.
- 13:43Speaker 2: He's a pure developmental guy. It's going to take him
- 13:44Speaker 2: a while, but he's got some upside. And that's the 10. Yeah,
- 13:48Speaker 2: really nothing else to add. It looked kind of like
- 13:50Speaker 2: I thought it would.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Right. I mean, again, the only thing that would have
- 13:54Speaker 1: like a name like Zeke Corral, if they kept, remember
- 13:56Speaker 1: when they kept Josh Sills on, we were admittedly surprised.
- 13:59Speaker 1: It's one of the few times. Yeah. Yeah. All right.
- 14:04Speaker 1: So moving on to defense and by the way, if
- 14:06Speaker 1: you're counting, that was 10, 20, 27, they went on offense.
- 14:11Speaker 1: So a little heavier than I thought on offense there.
- 14:14Speaker 1: And they did keep three specialists. You know, I kind
- 14:16Speaker 1: of thought they would go the, The route of putting
- 14:18Speaker 1: Rocco Underwood on the practice squad, if you can get
- 14:20Speaker 1: them through and then elevating.
- 14:22Speaker 2: They weren't going to risk that because why ruin the battery,
- 14:25Speaker 2: so to speak? I get it. Yeah, it's a little risky. Now,
- 14:28Speaker 2: the five de-tackles made it. Just like Ty Robinson went
- 14:33Speaker 2: from life support to being supported by Vic. Yeah, he
- 14:37Speaker 2: came on. Boy, I don't know what it is. Sometimes
- 14:40Speaker 2: the light goes on. Vic talked about it. It sure
- 14:42Speaker 2: as hell went on. He's one of the five. Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and obviously UR Bernard is not on it. I
- 14:47Speaker 1: think that's probably, if you're going to ask me what's
- 14:49Speaker 1: the one thing that I can honestly be surprised about,
- 14:52Speaker 1: it's that both UR Bernard and the Edge Joshua Rue,
- 14:56Speaker 1: the IPP guys from Africa, neither of them were kept
- 15:00Speaker 1: on the 53. Here's why.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Okay, here's the way I see this. This is my,
- 15:04Speaker 2: just the way I'm reasoning with it, asking some people.
- 15:09Speaker 2: There's no chance that UR Bernard plays this season.
- 15:14Speaker 1: Correct.
- 15:14Speaker 2: He's not ready. He's just not ready to contribute. I'm
- 15:17Speaker 2: glad he got in preseason games. So knowing that, why
- 15:20Speaker 2: would you claim him?
- 15:21Speaker 1: I agree.
- 15:22Speaker 2: He's on your 53.
- 15:22Speaker 1: You have to be on the 53. Right. That's a
- 15:24Speaker 1: great point. You have to be on the team. Why
- 15:26Speaker 1: would you claim him? Right.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Like if you claim him, you like, okay, so you're
- 15:31Speaker 2: going to redshirt him the whole season. He just probably
- 15:33Speaker 2: won't be active. Maybe at some point, because he's, maybe
- 15:37Speaker 2: you think he could get, he could play special teams,
- 15:39Speaker 2: just go down and run.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I tell you what, I got one team in mind
- 15:42Speaker 1: that I would watch Rams. Yeah. Yeah. Revenge for Willie Lampkin.
- 15:48Speaker 1: A hundred percent. I totally, totally believe it. And plus
- 15:53Speaker 1: the Rams are one of those teams that can afford
- 15:55Speaker 1: to have him on the 53, but inactive because they're,
- 15:58Speaker 1: I mean, my God, they bring Aaron Donald back. They're
- 16:00Speaker 1: pretty stacked there in the front seven.
- 16:01Speaker 2: They don't need any. Yeah.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 2: So yeah, the five we thought would be on it. Oh,
- 16:08Speaker 2: by the way, Grenard is off. Um, He's not on
- 16:13Speaker 2: reserve PUP. He's on the 53-man roster. So they clearly
- 16:17Speaker 2: believe within the first four weeks he's going to be
- 16:19Speaker 2: able to play. Yes. So now.
- 16:21Speaker 1: We thought, we just, again, the bigger discussion is how
- 16:25Speaker 1: much can he play? How effective is he? Is he
- 16:28Speaker 1: risking re-injury? You know, you want to make sure he's
- 16:31Speaker 1: 100% because he's not been able to work out.
- 16:32Speaker 2: So, yeah.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Epinesa made it as we expected. Good story, man. Good
- 16:38Speaker 2: for him. Good job by Howie on this one because
- 16:41Speaker 2: he flunks Cleveland's physical. Eagles pass him. They had no
- 16:45Speaker 2: problem with it. And he looked pretty good. I know
- 16:48Speaker 2: he's new to coverage in the short area. It is
- 16:52Speaker 2: what it is. You've got to drop in Vic's scheme.
- 16:56Speaker 2: But the guy's got great length. And the guy's a
- 17:00Speaker 2: former second-round pick who's an excellent run defender. This is
- 17:02Speaker 2: a good one. And look, no offense. Look, they've got
- 17:04Speaker 2: five guys. They've got five edges. This is pretty good.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they're good there. And Epinesa, you know, you wonder,
- 17:09Speaker 1: would he have made the team if Grenard was completely healthy?
- 17:12Speaker 1: Because that would have given them four with Ebikedi, and
- 17:16Speaker 1: then maybe they would have kept a Grenard or, excuse me, Waru,
- 17:20Speaker 1: but obviously the situation's presented itself the way they did.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah, Ebikedi, he was on the team regardless. They guaranteed
- 17:27Speaker 2: over $ 4 million.
- 17:28Speaker 1: He was on the team.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Linebacker, one with the chalk.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Do you want to blame Vic Fangio for misleading us, though? No,
- 17:38Speaker 1: but here's the thing.
- 17:39Speaker 2: No, but at the time, Campbell, that was two weeks ago.
- 17:42Speaker 2: He was kicking ass, and then he kind of fell
- 17:44Speaker 2: off a little bit. And I didn't realize this. I
- 17:48Speaker 2: did not know he was vested. Chance Campbell is actually,
- 17:51Speaker 2: that makes perfect, that way he's not subject to waivers. Right. Yeah,
- 17:55Speaker 2: that to me is why. Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 1: That makes sense. That deal could have been worked out
- 17:59Speaker 1: in advance, and yeah, we'll see what happens.
- 18:01Speaker 2: That's a huge deal, man. Let's go over to corner. Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I just want to say, though, those are four pretty
- 18:10Speaker 1: solid linebacks.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Well, Mondin is.
- 18:14Speaker 1: No, because I'm saying his role is special teams, and
- 18:16Speaker 1: he's a good special teamer. So, I mean, you've got
- 18:18Speaker 1: guys who can do whatever they need for them to do,
- 18:21Speaker 1: whether it's start or be a good backup or special
- 18:24Speaker 1: teams that's.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Well i'm not sure how good of a backup he
- 18:26Speaker 2: is yet i'm not i'm not so sure on that.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Right i mean for smile i mean trotter is the
- 18:30Speaker 1: good backup.
- 18:31Speaker 3: He's a stud yeah mondan let's see what happens with
- 18:37Speaker 3: chance campbell be good for them if they can get
- 18:38Speaker 3: campbell in the practice squad all right cornerback yeah it's.
- 18:42Speaker 2: It's mackick williams made it yep Jonathan Jones, they're guaranteed
- 18:48Speaker 2: two million plus. They didn't have another third corner. He
- 18:51Speaker 2: has to be it. So, yeah, it's to me now,
- 18:57Speaker 2: I'll be interested to see. Gushikin did not make it. Boy,
- 19:01Speaker 2: that special teams tackle was incredible. He got burned a
- 19:04Speaker 2: couple times in the short area. Right. Lawson, yeah, Deontay Lawson,
- 19:10Speaker 2: he's a guy to look at the practice squad. But
- 19:12Speaker 2: Yandre Sam was way injured. He goes on IR if
- 19:14Speaker 2: he's not claimed, which is almost certain to happen. Maxis
- 19:17Speaker 2: Pulley didn't make it. Zion Wilson, I forgot to mention him.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Not that I thought he could make it. He's a
- 19:23Speaker 2: guy I expect he could claim. That's the tackle, correct? Yeah,
- 19:27Speaker 2: the UDFA. Yeah, yeah. He's a guy. Yeah, yeah. He
- 19:31Speaker 2: could get claimed. So Eagles need to be in the
- 19:34Speaker 2: hunt for a veteran corner on their practice squad at
- 19:36Speaker 2: some point over the next three to four weeks. They
- 19:37Speaker 2: need to take a look at that. They're paper thin
- 19:40Speaker 2: at corner. Mack with Williams, right now he's arguably their
- 19:45Speaker 2: fourth corner. It's either him or Ringo, and Ringo, you
- 19:48Speaker 2: certainly don't want in there. Yep. Mack McWilliams, to me,
- 19:51Speaker 2: is two up and down. I'm not sold on him.
- 19:55Speaker 2: They need to look at corner here. Yeah.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I mean, if we're talking about guys who we're not
- 20:00Speaker 1: sure by the time we do a next podcast, they'll
- 20:01Speaker 1: be on the 53. You know, we already mentioned Elijah Moore.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Mack McWilliams could be one of them, especially if they
- 20:06Speaker 1: go out and get a veteran there. Safeties were what
- 20:09Speaker 1: we expected, Makuba, Epps, Michael Carter III, and, of course,
- 20:13Speaker 1: DeGene will play safety quite a bit in base defense.
- 20:17Speaker 1: I think Wisniewski, it was just too much time away
- 20:20Speaker 1: off the field as a rookie to really compete for
- 20:23Speaker 1: a spot.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and he was not wave injured, so he healed up.
- 20:27Speaker 2: So the guys to watch out for coming back here,
- 20:29Speaker 2: if they're not claimed, you are Bernard, obviously. Eric Azucama
- 20:33Speaker 2: actually looked good. He actually was just turning kicks. Would
- 20:36Speaker 2: not surprise me if he clears. That he's back. Gushikin.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Kapian Gushikin. Gabe Hall. Well, it's funny. Last year, they
- 20:45Speaker 2: didn't bring him back initially. Then they brought him back
- 20:46Speaker 2: and he was on and off, on and off. Deontay Lawson.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Jake Majors.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Ojukwu.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Jose Ramirez, who looked good in two of the games.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Carson Steele. I can't imagine he won't be claiming after
- 21:02Speaker 2: what he just did the last two games. Zion Wilson.
- 21:07Speaker 2: I don't know about Cam Williams. I'm not, I would
- 21:09Speaker 2: not surprise if they didn't bring him back. We'll see. Yeah.
- 21:11Speaker 1: What about Gabe Hall? I mean, he's a, he's developed
- 21:16Speaker 1: and teams are always looking for D tackles and they
- 21:18Speaker 1: can rationalize saying, Hey, the Eagles are really so stacked.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Like this guy might be a good four for us,
- 21:23Speaker 1: even though he couldn't be a top five for the Eagles.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Here's why he's a tweener. He's not a run stopper.
- 21:29Speaker 2: He's not a pressure. He's just super long effort was
- 21:32Speaker 2: really good last summer. He really should have, he deserved
- 21:34Speaker 2: to make it. Yeah. But, I hear you. He's got
- 21:40Speaker 2: body beautiful. He's what you want.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he'll be somewhere. Even if he doesn't get claimed,
- 21:45Speaker 1: he'll be either with the Eagles on the practice squad
- 21:47Speaker 1: or somebody will want to kick the tires on his young. Hey,
- 21:50Speaker 1: Philly fans, game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines.
- 21:54Speaker 1: We've all been there. But when it comes to your cannabis...
- 21:58Speaker 1: Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is the dispensary for
- 22:03Speaker 1: sports fans. Just minutes outside of Philly with plenty of
- 22:06Speaker 1: free parking. You'll be in and out fast. No hassle.
- 22:09Speaker 1: No waiting. And they don't just care about convenience. Camden
- 22:12Speaker 1: Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their staff makes
- 22:17Speaker 1: sure you feel taken care of every time you walk in. Plus,
- 22:21Speaker 1: they carry only the best quality cannabis at the fairest price. prices.
- 22:25Speaker 1: So whether you're stocking up for the tailgate, the watch party,
- 22:29Speaker 1: or celebrating a big win, you know you're getting the
- 22:32Speaker 1: good stuff without overpaying. They even show love to the
- 22:35Speaker 1: community with specials for fans, students, service members, and healthcare pros.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Camden Apothecary, top quality cannabis, great prices, and an experience
- 22:46Speaker 1: made for Philly fans 21 and up.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Generally, they're 15 to 25 players claimed on on the
- 22:55Speaker 2: claim day I'll be around the national football league. It's
- 22:58Speaker 2: not the, it's not as many as you think. And there'll,
- 23:02Speaker 2: there'll be a lot of guys. God, I can't believe
- 23:04Speaker 2: that guy passed through.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Yep.
- 23:06Speaker 2: It's, it's what teams don't seem like the fans of
- 23:08Speaker 2: the media do. They just don't, you know, but sometimes
- 23:12Speaker 2: by the way, good, very true.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Who's returning punts for this team right.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Now would either be Elijah more if he's still on
- 23:18Speaker 2: it or, or I would think Covey. Yeah.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Part of me wonders if that's why they did keep
- 23:22Speaker 1: Moore for that six spot.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Could be.
- 23:25Speaker 1: They want him returning. It's not something he's done a
- 23:27Speaker 1: whole lot of. I know he did in camp a
- 23:29Speaker 1: little bit and probably can do it, but it'll be
- 23:32Speaker 1: interesting if they think he's good enough to do that
- 23:36Speaker 1: and do it effectively.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Andrew might know. I didn't see Hollywood Brown doing it.
- 23:41Speaker 2: I could be wrong. I don't remember. Oh, well, Makai
- 23:44Speaker 2: Lemon did it, but barely in college. I think he
- 23:46Speaker 2: only had like six returns.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and after the And listen, I'm not going to
- 23:50Speaker 1: hold the other night against him for the rest of
- 23:52Speaker 1: his life, but he didn't look comfortable. He muffed the punt.
- 23:55Speaker 1: He did recover it, but he just, right now you
- 23:57Speaker 1: can't rely on him to do something like that carries
- 24:00Speaker 1: that kind of responsibility because he's swimming and he's far behind.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 2: He's, I think folks, I'm going to say this again,
- 24:07Speaker 2: please be patient because people want instant results. And I'm sorry,
- 24:12Speaker 2: he only returned six punts in college. He did return Yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 2: I was right. Six punts in college, 32 kicks.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:21Speaker 2: In college.
- 24:23Speaker 1: You're talking about Hollywood.
- 24:25Speaker 2: No, Lemon.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Oh, Lemon. Okay, I'm sorry.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Makai.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Makai, yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 2: So you got to be patient because people were up
- 24:32Speaker 2: in arms after Stowers, the first game. Yeah.
- 24:37Speaker 1: He's a project. It's going to take him a while.
- 24:40Speaker 2: No, Lemon's behind because he missed.
- 24:41Speaker 1: People are already comparing him to Aguilar and Rager. It's ridiculous. Relax, everybody. Relax.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Lemon missed 75% of their practices since he was drafted. Actually,
- 24:50Speaker 2: a little bit more than that.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:53Speaker 2: So just relax. It's going to take Lemon a while.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Growing pains, folks. The big news, though, for Washington to
- 24:59Speaker 2: come out on Sunday, their best corner, their best corner
- 25:02Speaker 2: was put, Trey Amos was put on IR.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Boy, it's been tough for them. No Tunsell. Right now,
- 25:08Speaker 1: no Amos. Yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And their practice against Baltimore is horrendous.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Let him go. I was supposed to go and
- 25:17Speaker 2: I backed out the last second. I don't know why.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Because I saw both teams individually.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 2: And boy, Washington and their receiver core is not very deep. Yeah, boy.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Although Daniels was elite, the practice I was at. But
- 25:34Speaker 2: Eagles have a decided.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Advantage week one.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Yep.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Decided advantage.
- 25:38Speaker 1: All right. So obviously they'll be assembling their practice squad
- 25:41Speaker 1: in the next 24 hours and they'll be making– So
- 25:43Speaker 1: moves in the next time you hear from Adam and
- 25:45Speaker 1: I will be evaluating the next 53, which by the way,
- 25:49Speaker 1: may not be the same as the week one 53
- 25:53Speaker 1: man roster. That's why we call it the initial and
- 25:55Speaker 1: the fluid 53. That's going to do it for this
- 25:58Speaker 1: episode of inside the birds, the leading podcast and Eagles Intel.
- 26:01Speaker 1: And as always, we thank you for flying with us
- 26:05Speaker 1: inside the bird.
