- 5:50Speaker 1: Okay, So kind of cool legands are amazing. Okay, Now
- 5:57Speaker 1: let's get into why we're here today. Hey. On March first,
- 6:02Speaker 1: twenty fourteen, two year old Myra Renee Lewis vanished from
- 6:07Speaker 1: her front yard in Camden, Mississippi.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Now.
- 6:11Speaker 1: She was born November thirtieth, twenty eleven. Myra was last
- 6:16Speaker 1: seen by her family between ten thirty and eleven that morning.
- 6:20Speaker 1: She was playing outside near their home on Mount Pilgrim Road. Now,
- 6:25Speaker 1: despite immediate efforts by her family and the involvement of
- 6:30Speaker 1: state and federal authorities, including the FBI, Mira's disappearance remains
- 6:36Speaker 1: one of Mississippi's most haunting child cases. For more than
- 6:42Speaker 1: a decade, no trace of her has ever been found.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Now that Saturday morning began routinely for the family. Myra's mother, Erica,
- 6:53Speaker 1: recalled seeing her daughter playing with her sister outdoors before
- 6:57Speaker 1: leaving to run errands. Erica told both girls to go
- 7:01Speaker 1: inside the house before she departed. Now inside the house,
- 7:07Speaker 1: Erica's husband, Gregory Lewis, was caring for their newborn child.
- 7:12Speaker 1: He did not realize that Mirror was missing until several
- 7:16Speaker 1: hours later. Now, by the time the family recognized she
- 7:22Speaker 1: was gone, she I mean too much time had already passed.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I just realized I never shared the visual Sorry, guys,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I told y'all I struggle with this stuff. Now I'm
- 7:37Speaker 1: trying to find how I change it. Oh my goodness, guys,
- 7:44Speaker 1: I have lost that screen. I think this is the one.
- 7:52Speaker 2: No, guys, see, I.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Can't change pictures now. Oh lama, I am a mess.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Why do you keep me around? Okay, why do you
- 8:01Speaker 1: keep me around? I think I found it now, I
- 8:03Speaker 1: think okay, I think nope, that's last week's See guys,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I am a mess.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Oh well, we just.
- 8:15Speaker 1: May not have visuals. Yeah, we just may not have visuals.
- 8:21Speaker 1: I cannot change it, but that's okay, Like I said,
- 8:25Speaker 1: By the time the family recognized she was gone, valuable
- 8:28Speaker 1: time had already passed.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Now.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Mirror's family describes her as bright, smart, and obedient. Which
- 8:38Speaker 1: I found that an interesting description.
- 8:43Speaker 2: But that's just me.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I'm still trying to find the slide. Oh well, obedient,
- 8:51Speaker 1: I just found that interesting. But those are qualities kind
- 8:54Speaker 1: of unusual for a young age. Now, her grandmother recalled
- 8:58Speaker 1: that Mirror was so independent she would walk to her
- 9:01Speaker 1: grandmother's house next door without issue. Okay, guys, I do
- 9:07Speaker 1: not want to judge. But she was two years old. Okay,
- 9:12Speaker 1: she was two. I guess I'm overprotective. Maybe it's because
- 9:19Speaker 1: I'm in the true crime world. When my grandson is here,
- 9:25Speaker 1: even at the age of six, if he wants to
- 9:28Speaker 1: walk to my neighbor's house, I go stand in the
- 9:31Speaker 1: driveway and watch him, and my neighbor steps out and
- 9:35Speaker 1: waves to let me know he's there.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Okay, but she did it a lot of times without issues. Now,
- 9:46Speaker 1: on the day she vanished, mir stood three feet one
- 9:49Speaker 1: inch tall, She weighed twenty seven pounds, and had black
- 9:52Speaker 1: hair and brown eyes. She was dressed in light colored pants,
- 9:57Speaker 1: a turquoise sweater with a bear on the front, and
- 10:00Speaker 1: pink tenny shoes. Love that these details were later shared
- 10:06Speaker 1: when they did the Amber Alert Now, when Gregory Lewis
- 10:11Speaker 1: realized his daughter was missing, he tried to track her
- 10:15Speaker 1: using the family's dog Okay. Unfortunately, the animals were not
- 10:19Speaker 1: trained for search and rescues.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Authorities were contact and an intense search began. Trained K
- 10:28Speaker 1: nine units and deputies scored, scored, scoured a four square
- 10:33Speaker 1: mile radius around the property. Now their home area included
- 10:38Speaker 1: woodsfield and a pond directly across from the family's home. Guys,
- 10:43Speaker 1: despite hours of searching, no evidence of Mirror's whereabouts was uncovered.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Now the following day, March second, twenty fourteen, Madison County
- 10:55Speaker 1: officials issued an Amber alert, which immediately brought statewide and
- 11:01Speaker 1: national attention to the case.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Guys.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Still, that delay of several hours between the time she
- 11:07Speaker 1: was last seen, the time the cops recalled, and then
- 11:11Speaker 1: the alert being done later would become a point of criticism.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Now, by March.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Third, investigators formally classified her disappearance as a child abduction case.
- 11:26Speaker 1: The FBI quickly joined that search along with the other agencies,
- 11:33Speaker 1: and like I said, they scoured the area. But Guys,
- 11:40Speaker 1: on March seventh, twenty fourteen, the investigation took a dramatic turn.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I mean dramatic when law enforcement arrested Mary's mom, Erica Lewis,
- 11:54Speaker 1: on a probation violation after a search of the family's home.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Remained in jail for nearly eighty days, raising questions and
- 12:05Speaker 1: criticism about whether authorities focused on the mother if that
- 12:10Speaker 1: hindered the search for Mira. I mean, guys, you arrest
- 12:16Speaker 1: the mother on a probation violation after her daughter's gone missing.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I mean, I get that they need to do that,
- 12:29Speaker 1: But if y'all didn't arrest her because you needed to
- 12:36Speaker 1: just get her in custody because you thought she had
- 12:39Speaker 1: something to do with it. But if she was out
- 12:41Speaker 1: truly running errands. This woman is traumatized, her daughter is missing.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Why would you put her in jail for eighty days?
- 12:52Speaker 2: Somebody needs to explain that to me.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Okay now, On March tenth, the FBI added Myra to
- 12:58Speaker 1: their list of most sought missing persons. They announced a
- 13:02Speaker 1: twenty thousand dollars reward for information leading to her discovery,
- 13:08Speaker 1: but despite the reward and the extensive media coverage, no
- 13:13Speaker 1: substantial tips surfaced. I mean authorities even revisited earlier search areas.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:22Speaker 1: On March thirteenth, divers once again came through the pond
- 13:27Speaker 1: across the Lewis residence, but nothing was found.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:34Speaker 1: By May twenty fourteen, after serving her time for the
- 13:37Speaker 1: probation violation, Erica was released and the family continued to
- 13:42Speaker 1: assert their belief that Myra was abducted. Can you imagine
- 13:47Speaker 1: the trauma of your child missing and you were put
- 13:51Speaker 1: in jail on a probation violation.
- 13:56Speaker 2: The hell, the hell I should have got water.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'll just dream the last of that cold coffee. Now,
- 14:07Speaker 1: after months passed with no progress, investigators turned to a
- 14:11Speaker 1: more unconventional measure.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Okay.
- 14:14Speaker 1: In October of that year, Madison County Sheriff's Department consulted
- 14:18Speaker 1: with psychics in the hopes of generating new leads. Okay suggested.
- 14:23Speaker 1: New areas were searched, but again nothing was found. I mean,
- 14:28Speaker 1: I am not going to shame them for trying everything. Okay,
- 14:34Speaker 1: I'm not going to shame them for that. Now, by
- 14:39Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, her case had already gained tragic distinction. It
- 14:44Speaker 1: was the longest unsolved amber alert case in Mississippi history,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and the family left Camden, abandoning the home where Mira
- 14:54Speaker 1: had last been seen. Now, later, a sheriff said, I've
- 15:00Speaker 1: got a theory behind that, and I don't mind offering
- 15:04Speaker 1: it to you at this point.
- 15:06Speaker 2: He said, people.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Generally, and this is just their experience, whenever they commit
- 15:13Speaker 1: a crime, they don't want to stay around for the fallout.
- 15:17Speaker 1: They're afraid that the reminders of every day are going
- 15:20Speaker 1: to eventually erode their resolve to be strong enough to
- 15:25Speaker 1: fight it away, and that maybe they may crack, or
- 15:29Speaker 1: maybe their emotions are getting the best of them. You know.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Tucker went on to say, we have not heard from
- 15:38Speaker 1: this family in years. You would hear from me every
- 15:42Speaker 1: single day until you found my baby, you know, Sheriff Tucker,
- 15:48Speaker 1: I'm the same.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I am the same on that.
- 15:54Speaker 1: But I not gonna you know, Judge Tucker went on
- 16:00Speaker 1: to say that he and his investigators feel like they
- 16:02Speaker 1: are members of the family who may want to reach
- 16:06Speaker 1: out but feel like they can't because of certain controlling
- 16:11Speaker 1: family dynamics. Guys, you know, it struck me how hard
- 16:16Speaker 1: that has got to be for the family members that
- 16:20Speaker 1: know something and want answers, but also these investigators who
- 16:24Speaker 1: want this solved. I mean, think about that. You suspect
- 16:28Speaker 1: family knows something and they're not talking got to be
- 16:33Speaker 1: so hard Now, authorities continue to keep her case alive.
- 16:38Speaker 1: In twenty eighteen, the National Center for Missing and Exploited
- 16:43Speaker 1: release an a age progress photo of Mirror, depicting what
- 16:49Speaker 1: she might look like at age six. The release reignited hope,
- 16:54Speaker 1: but again, no credible leads followed. Now, two eight years
- 17:01Speaker 1: after Mirror's disappearance, the Madison County Sheriff's office publicly admitted
- 17:08Speaker 1: they are no closer to solving the case than they
- 17:11Speaker 1: had been on day one. Miror's case still carries a
- 17:17Speaker 1: twenty thousand dollars FBI reward, and the National Center of
- 17:22Speaker 1: Missing and Exploited Children continue to generate updated age progressed
- 17:26Speaker 1: images to mainpay me maintain public awareness. March twenty twenty fourth,
- 17:35Speaker 1: the tenth anniversary of her disappearance, Mirror's case remained unsolved.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Like I said, They've done extensive searches, rewards, and even
- 17:45Speaker 1: the unconventional investigation tactic of calling a psyche. And remember, guys,
- 17:50Speaker 1: they even arrested her mother on those violations, and you
- 17:54Speaker 1: know they were questioning her Okay. As of today, September
- 18:00Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, there are no confirmed leads in the
- 18:04Speaker 1: case of Mira Renee Lewis. She remains the longest unsolved
- 18:09Speaker 1: Amber alert case in Mississippi's history. Now, guys, there is
- 18:15Speaker 1: a Mara Lewis Helped Find Me Facebook page that does
- 18:20Speaker 1: has activity on it up until March of this year,
- 18:24Speaker 1: and guys, I can help. But wonder did the family
- 18:28Speaker 1: not trust the police after they arrested the mom on
- 18:31Speaker 1: a probation violation, because based on the Facebook page, it
- 18:37Speaker 1: seems like several private investigators have been hired by someone,
- 18:43Speaker 1: so someone in the family is still seeking answers.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Okay.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I also try to remind myself and remember that everyone
- 18:52Speaker 1: handles trauma different and until I walk in their shoes,
- 18:56Speaker 1: I can't judge them for moving away. I liked it,
- 18:59Speaker 1: they I wouldn't, But I can understand also that maybe
- 19:04Speaker 1: it's too hard to stay there now. If you have
- 19:08Speaker 1: any information about the disappearance of Myra Lewis, please please
