Transcript
- 0:16Hello to all the comic fans, Marvel geeks, and all the nerds
- 0:18in between. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:20the Vigilante Vibes podcast where we talk all things Marvel
- 0:23along with other fandoms, but without the toxicity that's
- 0:26taken up way too much space in each and every fandom.
- 0:28I'm your host, Megan Nicole, and today I have a very special
- 0:30return guest with me today. You may remember her as the
- 0:35screenwriter that came on a few months ago, but today it is
- 0:38going to be all about Thunderbolts.
- 0:40So thank you Amy for joining me so we can talk all about the new
- 0:44movie. Of course, I'm so excited to be
- 0:46here. Great, So what?
- 0:50I don't even know where to dive in for the movie.
- 0:52Where do you go? Well, I've got 3 pages of notes
- 0:55here 3. Pages. 3 pages.
- 0:58I watched it three times. So you know, we have like 3
- 1:02pages. I did sort it by character arcs
- 1:06is the first thing we've got. So let's talk about Bob.
- 1:12So I don't know if you've seen The Crowded Room with Tom
- 1:16Holland at all, but whoa, like the vibes were like the same.
- 1:22Bob and I, I don't remember his character's name, but whoever
- 1:26Tom Holland played, it was so eerily similar.
- 1:31I was like, OK, and then what else?
- 1:36So you probably know way more about like Sentry and his powers
- 1:41than I do. But as someone who hasn't really
- 1:44read Sentry comics, I was just like, OK, his powers seem like
- 1:49heat based because he's like melting gun barrels and then
- 1:54boiling water and he runs hot in the elevator shaft.
- 1:58So like you enlighten us a little bit on what's going on
- 2:02there. So Century is basically Marvel's
- 2:08Superman. There's really not much he can't
- 2:12do. He has superhuman strength, he
- 2:15has energy manipulation, flights and vulnerability.
- 2:21It's a lot. It's not really heat based.
- 2:24That was something new. I was a little confused because
- 2:28all the comics I've read, they've never met, mentioned
- 2:31Heat. OK.
- 2:32So I was like, OK, I guess that's what we're doing today.
- 2:36It's different. OK, OK, well I was like, I was
- 2:41trying to figure out, OK, what's something in the MCU that we've
- 2:43seen that could be like a heat based thing?
- 2:46And it's like, oh, maybe Extremis.
- 2:50So I'm like, I think it was Iron Man 3.
- 2:53And so like, maybe they could have gotten a hold of that.
- 2:59Like, however they made that and all that.
- 3:02I don't know. I don't know.
- 3:04It'd be interesting to see, like, how he got his powers
- 3:07exactly. And yeah.
- 3:10It I think they didn't show it because in the comics there's a
- 3:13few different versions of how they did it and they kind of
- 3:16meshed it all into one and one version.
- 3:19He like he was in this movie, he was a meth addict that broke
- 3:25into a security lab just to get a hit, science lab just so he
- 3:31could get high off something. But then there was he signed up
- 3:35for the Century project to get, you know, so they do trials on
- 3:41him and all that. So they kind of meshed it
- 3:43together, made him, you know, a meth head and someone who was
- 3:46going in to just improve themselves as a person, I guess.
- 3:51So I liked how they did it, but I think that's why they didn't
- 3:54show it. So I kind of like the mystery
- 3:56they involved with it. Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 4:00I don't think every single character needs like 10 pages of
- 4:05exposition. You know, I, and I really liked
- 4:08how they did it this time. Like they kind of just threw you
- 4:11right into Yelena, like diving off the roof.
- 4:13I I loved that. It was such a big deal too, that
- 4:17she like went to Kevin Feige and said, I want to jump off the
- 4:21second building, biggest building in the world.
- 4:23And he is like, Oh my goodness. Now he's like, hey, no, we have
- 4:29insurance on you as a person. And she's like, no, I'm going to
- 4:33do it. And then she just did it.
- 4:35And it was such a big thing. It was like, she's so badass,
- 4:38She's so cool. And it was all just for the
- 4:40opener for that one scene. She really, I think she's just
- 4:45an adrenaline junkie and saw her chance.
- 4:48Absolutely, yeah. I mean, I would have a hard time
- 4:52passing that up. I.
- 4:54Wouldn't my mind but. I would not have a hard time
- 4:58like no. It'd be fun.
- 5:01I don't know. I'd do it once, but I don't know
- 5:05about 9 times. I think 9 times.
- 5:08Did she? It wasn't just once.
- 5:10Well, yeah, they had to do multiple tapes and whatever it
- 5:13was like, well, I don't know. Oh.
- 5:15My God, I it would depend on where I'm at in life.
- 5:19Like if I am like very content, I am good.
- 5:23No, if I'm like like, you know, I need something.
- 5:26I just need something to like jolt to change something in my
- 5:30life, then I think I would do it.
- 5:31Like I want to go bungee jumping or skydiving.
- 5:34I want to do that, but straight jumping off the tallest
- 5:37building, it's different because you can see at the bottom.
- 5:43I can't. I cannot.
- 5:47Yeah. Pretty high stakes, pretty high
- 5:51stakes. Pretty high stakes, yeah.
- 5:53Movie riding on her and she's like, I just want to do it.
- 5:57Yeah, go for it, Queen. Oh my goodness.
- 6:00Kevin Feige must have had an aneurysm.
- 6:04Poor guys probably having aneurysms all the time anyway
- 6:08just based on things I've read and whatever, but.
- 6:11I've read the same, yeah. Yes.
- 6:15Anyway, OK, what else do I have? The way he was playing with the
- 6:21Rubik's Cube during the attic scene, like he was still trying
- 6:25to solve it before he, like, started breaking down when you,
- 6:27Elena, like, grabbed his arm. And I'm like, Oh my goodness,
- 6:32'cause like, you don't necessarily right away just be
- 6:35like, yeah, I mean, this, this happens, it's fine.
- 6:39And and then, you know, whatever.
- 6:42But I don't know what I'm trying to say.
- 6:45Well, it's interesting stuff. Out to me.
- 6:48He's playing with the Rubik's Cube because that's usually like
- 6:50in movies, that's usually a sign of like, oh, this person's a
- 6:53genius 'cause they can do a Rubik's Cube.
- 6:54I can't do a Rubik's Cube. So apparently I'm a moron.
- 6:57Either so. Apparently we suck.
- 6:59But it's interesting because in the because in the comics, in
- 7:06the different iterations of his origin, 1 is where he's just
- 7:10like a moron and the other is like he's like super smart.
- 7:14So I'm curious if that is like leaning on that a little bit.
- 7:19Maybe I don't. Know maybe?
- 7:22I like how when he was Sentry, he didn't want to kill anyone.
- 7:29Reminded me of Spider Man, you know?
- 7:31Yeah, let's see. Oh, and again, you're the comics
- 7:37expert here. How?
- 7:39How do you think the voids powers work?
- 7:44It was interesting how they did it.
- 7:47They showed them as two different people but in the same
- 7:51vessel. But in the comics, it's some of
- 7:54times it's like that, and sometimes it's not.
- 7:57In Century solo run, Century has the void locked in his basement,
- 8:03like so. Yeah.
- 8:06So I was curious how they were going to do that because that's
- 8:09a slippery slope. It's either really, really cool
- 8:11or something just like you tried.
- 8:15But I really liked it. They made the void as unhinged
- 8:20and as creepy as he is in the comics, so they nailed it.
- 8:23Yes, they absolutely did. And I like love the visual
- 8:27effects on that. Like when I saw it in the
- 8:31trailer and it was just those like little tiny dots of light
- 8:35for the eyes. I was like, OK, he's creepy.
- 8:38This is going to be an awesome movie.
- 8:40Yeah, and they made him just as evil as he is in the comics.
- 8:44In the comics, he tells Century at one point, because Century's
- 8:47whole thing is he wants to save people.
- 8:49That is why he's the Century he like.
- 8:52So Bob a little Tweety guy, right that he's in the comics,
- 8:59he is that little dweeby guy. But when he suits up a century,
- 9:02he's a huge muscly man, like a man's man, like the man that
- 9:07like at one point Bob's wife was like, can you wear century in
- 9:11the bed? Like it's that it was it was
- 9:15very sad. He was like, it was so sad, but
- 9:20like, that's the big difference there.
- 9:24Where was I going with that? Oh my gosh, I just started to
- 9:29talk. What if void we were oh, so I
- 9:35don't know why that has anything to do with what I was going to
- 9:37say. I'm so sorry.
- 9:40And with the void, his whole thing is like, I'm just going to
- 9:44ruin this guy's life. And that's what he tries to do.
- 9:46But century, he tries to save people.
- 9:48His whole thing is I want to save people.
- 9:50While in the century. So in the comics he has like
- 9:53this AI that tells him like this big event is happening in 23
- 9:58seconds. This this many people are going
- 10:00to die in 14 seconds. You have to save these people.
- 10:02You have time to save these. You don't have time to save
- 10:04these. And that is consistent while
- 10:06he's century. So that's all he does is save
- 10:09people. The void goes until century.
- 10:12For every person you save, I'm going to kill someone.
- 10:16So that is what this guy's about.
- 10:18He is. It's like petty, but like
- 10:21Satan's version of petty, Yeah. Gotcha.
- 10:26Yeah. Oh, and then the way he was like
- 10:30calling Bob a hero, like tying it back to his childhood
- 10:35traumas, like, dude, come on, That was that was a lot.
- 10:42I think everyone left this movie saying I need therapy.
- 10:48I don't know. It was great though.
- 10:50It was, no, I loved. I loved.
- 10:53The one thing the NCU does really, really well is when they
- 10:57want to, when they tackle mental health, they do it the right
- 11:03way. With like Iron Man Three, you
- 11:05had Tony going through PTSD. You have Wanda Vision where
- 11:10Scarlet Witch is going through every step of grief of the grief
- 11:14process. And then you have this where
- 11:16it's like, I think I'm not taking away anything from the
- 11:19other projects, but I think this was the most relatable of any
- 11:23project they've done because I think so many people left and
- 11:26were like, I needed to see that they feel exactly how I do.
- 11:30And you saw in on the big screen and two different words, but it
- 11:34was incredibly well done. Yeah, yeah, it was.
- 11:38It was. And like, I think the writers
- 11:41did a really good job, too, making it not preachy, you know
- 11:47what I'm saying? Yeah.
- 11:50Yeah. What do you want to talk about?
- 11:54I'm going to put my notes down for a minute.
- 11:56Like what do you want to talk? About So I'm sure you've seen
- 12:01that Marvel spoiled it for everyone who did not see it.
- 12:07Yes, I did see that. So what do you think?
- 12:12I don't know. I mean, if it gets people into
- 12:15the theaters, that's good. I, I mean, I don't know.
- 12:22I don't really know how I feel about it.
- 12:25How about you? I think it they could have
- 12:30waited a week that I think it is a brilliant idea.
- 12:34But you could have waited a week.
- 12:36You waited two days. Sunday they were putting those
- 12:39signs up on like Hollywood Blvd. and all that.
- 12:43So it's like, I like what they did.
- 12:45And then the director, I think it was the director came out and
- 12:49said, like Val was trying to sell that they're the New
- 12:52Avengers to the world. So we did the same thing.
- 12:55It's like, yeah. And I was like, well, good for
- 12:58you, bud. But like some didn't see it yet.
- 13:02The whole mystery was the asterisk and you get you took
- 13:05that from them. Yeah, I don't know.
- 13:09It's interesting. Marketing is not my thing.
- 13:12It's not Marvel's either. It's not it it like I think
- 13:19because Ironheart comes out June 24th.
- 13:25Have you heard anything about it?
- 13:28I did see that one article that I.
- 13:31Sent that empire, that empire posted and Marvel Studios
- 13:36reposted, which is like, Oh my gosh, I just give me two weeks
- 13:44as their head of marketing. I will get it back on track.
- 13:47I could do it. I think so.
- 13:50All right, have a job. No, I'm don't pull there.
- 13:55Absolutely not. I'm still waiting for my cease
- 13:59and desist. Letter like, aren't we all
- 14:02though? We're all just flying by the
- 14:05seat of our pants, just waiting. Yep.
- 14:08I'm a frame it though, like Marvel lawyer said piss so
- 14:14whatever. So the post credit scene, what
- 14:19did you think? I was OK, Well, somehow it got
- 14:27spoiled for me. I don't remember how somebody,
- 14:30because somebody run something like commented it out of
- 14:34nowhere. They're like, oh, the Fantastic
- 14:35Four is in the post credits scene.
- 14:37And I was like, there's no way. And then in the credits it said
- 14:44Fantastic Four theme and my husband's like, wait, what?
- 14:48Where was that? And I'm like, Oh no, I got
- 14:51spoiled. That's OK.
- 14:53I saw someone say that this post credit scene was spoiled before
- 14:57it happened and I was like how is that even possible?
- 15:02Now that makes sense I didn't realize that's how it did.
- 15:04Wow. You could have.
- 15:07You could have named it something else.
- 15:12I don't know. I mean, it's like what, 3
- 15:15minutes later anyway. So, yeah, but still, it's like
- 15:20just just put me in charge of marketing.
- 15:23I'll I'll get this car turned around.
- 15:28But my thing is, what if it's not Fantastic Four?
- 15:31What if someone just has their ship because we don't see them?
- 15:34They're in a different, they're in a different universe right
- 15:37now. So like if they're travelling
- 15:41universes, would they take a ship if Silver Surfer is
- 15:48involved? So I don't think so.
- 15:50I have no idea. I don't either.
- 15:53I don't know, but that's guy. That's my thing.
- 15:57It was like it was too straightforward.
- 15:58But I'm glad they put something there for Fantastic Four because
- 16:03they're not setting up nothing lately.
- 16:05Like where's the setup for Doomsday I need to see?
- 16:10They should have with every movie.
- 16:12They should have had a post credits scene, a really short
- 16:14one that had something to do with Doom, just to build up
- 16:18something. Don't make it a random Doom drop
- 16:21because he's not the he's not the guy you just do that to.
- 16:24You have to build up to him. Yeah, I don't, I don't know.
- 16:30I'm sure they'll they'll figure it out and it's going to be
- 16:33awesome and it's going to be mind blowing and we'd like we we
- 16:36don't even know I'm. Stressed Amy.
- 16:38I'm stressed You're. Stressed.
- 16:41Calm down, Zoom. Zoom is my guy, and they had a
- 16:45whole plan for Kang. They just should have.
- 16:48They just should have recast. That's all you had to do.
- 16:52But no. But so Sam is trying to sue for
- 16:59the name to The Avengers dude. Sam what?
- 17:04That that was a little like. Are you petty?
- 17:08What is happening here? I'd I just want to point out
- 17:15that Marvel Studios today changed their Avengers Twitter
- 17:20name. They have a Twitter account for
- 17:22The Avengers and put a copyright logo on it.
- 17:26That is that is brilliant. That is genius.
- 17:30I love that. Whoever thought of that idea,
- 17:36give that guy a raise. The other people you need to
- 17:39look at a little differently. My goodness, you are unhinged
- 17:45today. Well, it's just like, if I
- 17:47hadn't seen the movie and I cared about spoilers, I would
- 17:49have been pretty mad because it's like they built.
- 17:53They played off of the asterisk since D 23 of last year when
- 17:57they added it. They built off and played off
- 18:00this big mystery. What could it mean?
- 18:01We all had ideas. They kept.
- 18:04They didn't drop hints, but they dropped questions.
- 18:06Like what does it mean? Oh, the asterisk is down to four
- 18:09or five legs on it, not six. They had a whole thing.
- 18:15Yeah, they had a whole thing about it.
- 18:17And then two days later, they're like, guess what?
- 18:21You don't have to watch the movie to see it.
- 18:23It's like if you want people to go to the theatre, don't do
- 18:26that. Yeah, I I don't know.
- 18:30I'm not a marketing guy. Neither am I, but give me like 5
- 18:35minutes in the room with Kevin Feige and I'll get things done.
- 18:42All right, well, let's go back to.
- 18:45The notes my. Papers.
- 18:47Because I have so many notes, like, OK, did you see when they
- 18:52had that investigation scene, there was a Mr. Carter?
- 18:56And I was like, oh, is that a relative of Peggy Carter?
- 19:00Oh, I did not notice that. But I thought it was a fun
- 19:04little Easter egg, even if it's not actually.
- 19:06Nothing. Nothing is coincidence in
- 19:09Marvel, I feel. Like it's not right.
- 19:12Like was Daredevil born again? How they had an officer Morales
- 19:15and everyone's like, oh, that's not that's nothing.
- 19:18That's that's not Miles's dad. And you're like, first of all,
- 19:22that's quite a coincidence and coincidence don't happen.
- 19:26They do everything on. Purpose feel like they do, they
- 19:30feel. Like they do.
- 19:32All right, so, OK, which is the bigger thing that like you're
- 19:38like, OK, this is a little, this is a little silly.
- 19:41So they had the timer in the incinerator counting down from 2
- 19:46minutes? Or do we what?
- 19:50How did they get from the crashed limo to the gas station?
- 19:53Which one in your mind is a little more like, OK, that's,
- 19:58that's an interesting choice. I would say the limo is the more
- 20:04interesting choice. I don't think the incinerator
- 20:06with a timer is too weird because of its vow.
- 20:10She wants you to know what's about to happen.
- 20:14So I think she. Yeah, she.
- 20:17Would do that for dramatic effect, wouldn't she?
- 20:19Yeah, just to add salt to the wound.
- 20:22So I that I don't think is weird.
- 20:24The other parts, like I guess we're here now.
- 20:28Sure. And but like the movie so, so
- 20:32good. It's like you just don't think
- 20:34about those things. You're just like, I don't even
- 20:36care. I forgive, I don't care.
- 20:38Just just give me all the deleted scenes.
- 20:42Right. Yeah, let's see, I could talk
- 20:46about, I could talk about the soundtrack all day, but I won't
- 20:51because I'm on my best behavior here.
- 20:54Not music nerding, but yes. Oh, like the like little
- 20:59Avengers motifs throughout. Like, Oh my goodness.
- 21:04Like, I was kind of thinking that they were going to call
- 21:07them the Dark Avengers. That's what I thought.
- 21:10Yes, but then they're like New Avengers and like, OK, that
- 21:14works too, but. I was, I was mad because I made
- 21:17a breakdown video of the Dark Avengers and everything.
- 21:20And I was like, look, guys, this is what's going to happen.
- 21:23They're the Dark Avengers. And I think they were playing on
- 21:26that too, because I don't know if you realize how many times
- 21:29they said the word dark in their trailers.
- 21:32It was like every single one. And so I was like, OK, we get
- 21:36it, You're the Dark Avengers, guys, these are dark Avengers.
- 21:39This is what they're about. Century is so involved.
- 21:43John Walker, all of them are there.
- 21:46And then no, it didn't, didn't matter at all.
- 21:50And I was like, all right, well, better luck next time.
- 21:54That's fine. Think the only thing I got right
- 21:57was Taskmaster dying. Oh my goodness, Taskmaster.
- 22:02Oh boy. Like what?
- 22:04It had to be in the 1st 10 minutes or something.
- 22:08I told everyone, everyone in multiple episodes Taskmaster is
- 22:15going to die like Loki and Infinity War.
- 22:19That is going to be it. And everyone's like, Oh yeah,
- 22:23probably. I'm like, no, I need more hype
- 22:25because I know I'm right. And then it happened and I was
- 22:28like, God damn, it happened. And everyone's like everyone
- 22:33knew that was going to happen. So it's like, just let me have
- 22:35this. My theory.
- 22:39She's either 100% going to die or they're going to pull the
- 22:43biggest plot twist in all of cinema history.
- 22:47But they they didn't. So that's.
- 22:50They made it so blatant, blatantly clear that Taskmaster
- 22:54wasn't was going to die. And I was like, are we being
- 22:57punked right now? Like does Taskmaster actually
- 23:00live? Is she like, is she kidnapped
- 23:03and they have to go find her? I was like, there's just no way.
- 23:07They're really punking us that hard.
- 23:09Like you kind of like start to gaslight yourself and you're
- 23:12like, this is it that they're really pulling it?
- 23:14They're they're going to get us all.
- 23:16And then Taskmaster got shot and I was like, that was right.
- 23:22Which is fine. I don't, I don't like what
- 23:24they've done to Taskmaster. So I'm like, I'm totally fine
- 23:26with it. Just give me Anthony Masters as
- 23:29tax taskmaster and moving on. No one will question it.
- 23:32We promise to be on our best behavior.
- 23:34No one will ask a single question speaking.
- 23:42Of punked, OK, no, we're like 2 big times that.
- 23:48I was like, Oh no, they did not just kill off X person.
- 23:53So when Bucky was fighting century, the music just kind of
- 24:00got a little more quiet and I'm like, no, no, they're not going
- 24:05to kill off Bucky. They can't.
- 24:07They can't. And I was I, I was on the edge
- 24:11of my seat. I was stuffing popcorn in my
- 24:15mouth so much during that fight because I was like stress
- 24:18eating. I was like, Oh my God, I don't
- 24:20want any of them to die. I don't even care if John Walker
- 24:22dies. Like, I don't want any of them
- 24:23to die. And then the I've heard the
- 24:25music start to slow down. I was like, Oh my God, oh, my
- 24:28God, this is I can't do this. I was like, I can't.
- 24:30Like I was looking around. I was like, I can't scream in
- 24:32here. I can't, I can't do anything.
- 24:35Like my husband's right here. I can't make a make a scene
- 24:38because he's going to be like, what is wrong with you?
- 24:40Like, yeah, I was like, I don't think I can mentally handle
- 24:44this. I think this is it.
- 24:46This is, this is this is it for me.
- 24:48And then he didn't die. And I was like, Marvel, you got
- 24:53me. You got me.
- 24:55Oh, and then they just got, like, hit with his own arm.
- 25:00I didn't notice that until the third time I watched it, so I'm
- 25:03a little slow, but yeah, he just got knocked out with his own
- 25:07arm. Like Dang.
- 25:10Everyone in our theater loved that part.
- 25:13They're like, oh, that was awesome.
- 25:15And I was like, how dare you? But it was pretty awesome.
- 25:18Like I really liked it. It was pretty great.
- 25:22Like that whole fight I thought was so well done.
- 25:26It had so much humor, but it also had like so much action and
- 25:32there are so many parts where you're like, this is it?
- 25:34And then at the end they just ran away.
- 25:38Like that is so unlike like UN Avengers like that they just ran
- 25:43away. I was like, that's so relatable.
- 25:45I get you guys. I would do the same thing.
- 25:48Yes, yes, that was great. Oh and the way Ava just like
- 25:53grabbed Bucky's arm, like is she like keeping that for herself or
- 25:59is she getting it for him? I keep it for myself for sure.
- 26:04Use it as a club you. Know yeah, that'd.
- 26:08Be pretty. That'd be pretty great.
- 26:12So what did you think of ghosts and throughout this movie?
- 26:16I thought she was cool. I don't know if I have any notes
- 26:24on her specifically. No, I don't.
- 26:28I like that she was the first one to get into the idea of them
- 26:33being a team, so even when they all hated each other, still
- 26:36looking out for them. I really like that.
- 26:40And I liked that. Well, this whole movie really, I
- 26:46like that you didn't have to do a bunch of homework before going
- 26:49into it. Like, you know, if you don't
- 26:52know who ghost is before coming in, you're fine.
- 26:58Like it works. And, and I, I really respect
- 27:04that because sometimes it can be hard to do that, but they did
- 27:09and, and I think it's great so. Well, the only movie you really
- 27:13should watch before it is Black Widow because like, all three of
- 27:17them, all three of their characters are in there.
- 27:20But yeah, even if you don't, it's like you can kind of pick
- 27:24up what's going on between Yelena and Red Guardian.
- 27:26So they they did really well all around, but it didn't feel like
- 27:31every member was dealing with some kind of mental issue.
- 27:39Yeah, because you could see Elena going through the
- 27:44Depression. She had the hopelessness.
- 27:47That's a really big indicator. Alexi, who is in denial about
- 27:52his own life, his own happiness. Ghost.
- 27:56She has issues like you wouldn't believe.
- 27:59And then you have Bucky, who's getting over his failure as what
- 28:05was he, Senator, Congressman. Well, I'm a little.
- 28:09I'm a little I'm confused on that.
- 28:11Did he, did he actually like quit or get fired or whatever?
- 28:17Or was that just Valentine of being a jerk?
- 28:20I think he was pushed out because of his past.
- 28:24That's what it sounds like that he was like voted out.
- 28:27Gotcha. All right.
- 28:29Yeah, I totally missed that. He mentioned if I think of a
- 28:33couple times where he was like, it's because of his past.
- 28:36What people think of them, they don't like.
- 28:38So it's like it's easy to see him getting pushed out.
- 28:40What I want to know is why politics, Bucky?
- 28:44Why like? He thought he could make a
- 28:48change, but yeah, don't, don't. We're going to keep the good
- 28:54vibes here. We're not, but I want to know
- 28:57politics. I don't talk about politics on
- 29:00my show. I don't.
- 29:01Know, but with. Him, I want to.
- 29:04I want to know like what? What made him want to like?
- 29:07What told him that was a good idea?
- 29:11What did his campaign trail look like?
- 29:13I want to know so much about that.
- 29:15Like, I wanted to vote for Bucky's shirt really bad.
- 29:17And they just took that whole whole scenario away from me.
- 29:22I was, I was about to like get a big poster thing printed out and
- 29:28then stick it in my yard as a yard sign just to confuse
- 29:31everybody like Bruce Barnes. And why is he running for
- 29:35Congress? Like, and they're like Amy, it's
- 29:40May. What are you doing?
- 29:43Like they could have if they would have, just like if they
- 29:46gave us a limited series of his campaign trail, even like a
- 29:50special presentation. The merch that would come off it
- 29:54alone would be phenomenal. Yeah, I could see him doing,
- 29:59like you remember foreign Darrell.
- 30:03I could see him doing something like that.
- 30:05Do I remember what Darrell? Right.
- 30:07What are you talking about? Oh, it was like when Thor's
- 30:11living on Earth and he's he's with this roommate, Daryl.
- 30:15Oh oh. Yeah, and then let the
- 30:19grandmaster shows up and like melts a guy, you know?
- 30:25The usual. Is fun, the usual.
- 30:31But also do we know where Red Guardians wife is?
- 30:36I haven't seen Black Widow in a while, did she not die?
- 30:41Is her name Alina? I think, yeah, thing like that,
- 30:45yeah. Yeah, I don't.
- 30:47She didn't die at the end of the Black Widow.
- 30:49I was like, no, because they're all standing there.
- 30:55Yeah, they're all standing there at the end.
- 30:57And SHIELD is, is it SHIELD? It's not SHIELD.
- 31:00It's the military, FBI, all that are pulling up to arrest
- 31:03Natasha. And they're she's like, you guys
- 31:05got to get out of here. Go.
- 31:06I I got it and I got to handle this so she doesn't die.
- 31:11Lexi doesn't, obviously. Yelena does not.
- 31:14So it's like, did she go back to work with her pigs?
- 31:19Maybe. She was.
- 31:22She was kind of mean, though. That's fine.
- 31:26Maybe Yelena. Natasha deserve.
- 31:29The pigs, Bucky can go live with the goats, you know, just
- 31:33everybody can have their own little farm.
- 31:37Were you picking up some like romantic vibes between Mel and
- 31:41Bucky? Because I was and I was like, if
- 31:47this girl does not hop off. Well, the girl who plays Mel
- 31:54posted this video on TikTok, I think it was and she's just like
- 31:59Bucky and Thunderbolts got me like and it's just like weird
- 32:03flirty song thing. And I'm like what?
- 32:07And everybody's like, girl is you YN what?
- 32:14I. Was wild.
- 32:17That's that's girl, calm down. Like he's clearly not yours.
- 32:26Is he yours? Is he?
- 32:27Yours. I'll fight for that man.
- 32:31I'll do. I'll do a lot of terrible things
- 32:32for that man. But anyways, I thought she was
- 32:37supposed to be Songbird, Who is Melissa Gold in the comics?
- 32:42So like, where'd that go? I think I, I thought I just saw
- 32:47some thing, I think the writers there, I think his name is Eric.
- 32:53I'll feel so bad if his name is not Eric.
- 32:55But yeah, I think he said that that's supposed to be a thing.
- 33:01So. Where's she at?
- 33:03Like where's her powers? What is she doing?
- 33:06I think it could have been cool, but there I feel like there was
- 33:10a lot of stuff that was supposed to happen in this movie that
- 33:12didn't. Because earlier today they said
- 33:15that US Agent was going to be the main antagonist of the
- 33:20movie, that Val was going to lie and say that your super soldier
- 33:25serum is diminishing, so you have to get more or something
- 33:30like that. And I was like, that is that
- 33:32would have been horrible. That would have been such a bad
- 33:33movie. Thank you for not doing that.
- 33:37Yeah. Yeah, I don't know.
- 33:42Yeah, My husband's favorite character was John Walker, and I
- 33:48thought that was an interesting choice.
- 33:50I was like, OK, all right. But he did have a really decent
- 33:55character arc in this movie. And I really liked how at the
- 33:59end where, you know, they're pulling Bob off of the void, how
- 34:05he was the one to grab his arm and actually stop him from
- 34:10punching the void 'cause like, I mean, he's so violent as a guy.
- 34:18And so him stopping that was, I don't know, I I just thought
- 34:23that was really neat for his character.
- 34:26He had a good a really good arc. I agree.
- 34:29I hope he went home to his wife and kid.
- 34:32Like that's what I was hoping for.
- 34:33I was hoping to see a scene where it's just like him going
- 34:36home but no. But no, they could have.
- 34:41After so much trauma that we all went through together at the
- 34:44movie theater, going through our own mental illnesses, they could
- 34:48have given us one thing, but they didn't.
- 34:52They were all together that's. I don't think they like each
- 34:56other. I'd.
- 34:57Say do now? I think they'll they'll put up
- 35:02with each other now. Yeah, I think they're just like
- 35:05paid to be around each other. I think that's that's so very
- 35:08different than just hanging out together.
- 35:12Oh no. Like.
- 35:15I liked their new looks though that we saw in the post credit
- 35:18scene. Like they looked good.
- 35:20Yes. And OK, do not get me started on
- 35:24Bucky having a Red Star on his like jacket.
- 35:29I'm like. I was stressed.
- 35:32I was like this is AI have I have to marry this man like this
- 35:36is. You are married already.
- 35:40So are you? Different universe, OK.
- 35:45Yeah, I'm in the multiverse right now.
- 35:50But yeah, and I know it's like a comic thing, I think.
- 35:55I don't think it's Doom Strike, that's probably wrong.
- 35:58But one of the comics he wears something with a Red Star on it
- 36:01and. Most of them.
- 36:02Because that's the look of The Winter Soldier.
- 36:06Doom strike. He has it too.
- 36:09Yeah, but. That's such a good Comic Con,
- 36:12though. For him to voluntarily wear
- 36:15something with a big Red Star on it, it's like, OK, he's like
- 36:20accepted his past. That's great.
- 36:23I think he accepted all that in The Falcon and The Winter
- 36:29Soldier. I think now he's just kind.
- 36:32I think he's comfortable moving on to this, his next thing, as
- 36:35not as a congressman, not as someone with a job, but with
- 36:39someone who's a hero. Mm hmm.
- 36:41Mm Hmm. Yeah, yeah.
- 36:44Oh, Bucky, his entrance on the motorcycle, That was phenomenal.
- 36:51That was a that was a blessing, if I do say so myself, Yes.
- 36:57It was great. It was like I was made for this
- 37:01losers like like dodging bullets like that's that's Bucky the
- 37:11guy. So cool.
- 37:13Cool. Though.
- 37:15He is. He's he's very cool.
- 37:18Yeah, So what else are on this list of notes you have?
- 37:22This list of notes, I mean John Walker calling Bob Bobby over
- 37:28and over and over again, drove me nuts.
- 37:31Why? I thought it was sweet.
- 37:34What? That's like his whole trauma
- 37:36thing, like I think his dad or whatever called him Bobby and.
- 37:42Yeah, but Walker didn't know that, though.
- 37:45Well, no, but I don't know so if you.
- 37:48Look at it. Set of calling people by their
- 37:51given name until told otherwise, but.
- 37:55What's Walker? He's a military man.
- 38:00In the military, when you get, you know, you get close to some
- 38:03and you give them a nickname. So that's what I took it as,
- 38:05like, OK, he's starting to accept him.
- 38:08OK, I saw it more as like a mocking thing but.
- 38:15I think that's a great. Thing about art that we have
- 38:18different interpretations. So very true.
- 38:22Let's see. OK, yes, so when Yelena is
- 38:27walking into the vault, she like Valentina's got that voice over.
- 38:34And that very well could have been the same briefing that like
- 38:38Vowel's giving John as John is following Yelena into the vault.
- 38:45Do you know what I'm what I'm saying there?
- 38:48I don't know. I get really excited and then I
- 38:50make no sense. I'm trying to.
- 38:51Figure out what you mean. What vault?
- 38:54OK. The at the beginning.
- 38:56The vault built into the mountain.
- 38:58Oh, the incinerator vault. Yeah.
- 39:01Yeah, yeah. So like Yelena's following
- 39:04ghost? Yeah.
- 39:06But Valentina's voice over, like she's like, Oh yeah, she's
- 39:13perfectly like, it's not capable, but she has whatever
- 39:18that she can rob me. But like, the way she says it,
- 39:22it could have been the same thing that she's saying to John.
- 39:25And like, we could be from the point of view of John watching
- 39:29Elena going in. So I thought that was cool.
- 39:34That is, I didn't think about that.
- 39:37Yeah, I'm kind of a nerd. Aren't we all?
- 39:42Yeah, if you're listening to this podcast, probably just
- 39:47accept that about yourself. Like it's, it just adds to our
- 39:52quality. Exactly.
- 39:54Exactly what else oh did it say 14 months later with the post
- 40:01credits scene? You stared into my soul when you
- 40:07asked that. Yeah, I think so, didn't it?
- 40:13I don't know because I just saw it like today, different places,
- 40:16people talking about 14 months later and I'm like where?
- 40:20And I watched the movie 3 times and I apparently have missed it
- 40:23every time so. Let me see Thunderbolts 14
- 40:29months. Sometimes if you just type
- 40:32random things into Google it'll just show you what you need.
- 40:36Sometimes it doesn't. Like, right now it's not gonna
- 40:40say, yeah, I have no freaking idea.
- 40:45Now, the sequence is about 14 months after the events of
- 40:50Thunderbolts. Yeah.
- 40:52So Fortune. Did it say that?
- 40:54OK, I think that every time. Didn't did.
- 40:59Now I don't know. I'm second guessing myself.
- 41:01Now I don't know. Hey listeners, if you know, let
- 41:04us know in the comments because we don't know.
- 41:06Yes, please. Also what's interesting is the
- 41:11post credits scene was filmed by the Russos so it's like what are
- 41:17you guys up to? I noticed it's just like a
- 41:22completely different color palette.
- 41:24It was very, very different vibe.
- 41:28Yes. Like it kind of Jarred me when I
- 41:31saw it. I was like, wait, this isn't the
- 41:33same color scheme. What's happening?
- 41:36Are we in a different universe? But I don't think so.
- 41:42Well, that's what that's what I was thinking.
- 41:44I was like, OK, so they're trying to start them off on a
- 41:46brand new vibe, new energy because that's what it felt
- 41:49like. And then find out it's the
- 41:50Russos. I was like, it did feel like the
- 41:53Russos, didn't it? OK, so it's like, what is this
- 41:58scene from? Is this from doomsday?
- 42:02Because that makes a lot of sense because when else would we
- 42:07be watching the Fantastic Four touchdown, right?
- 42:11I. Don't know.
- 42:12From that point of view, or is it from Fantastic Four, are we
- 42:16going to get the new Avengers in Fantastic Four?
- 42:21Maybe they'll be in a post credit scene.
- 42:24I swear to God, 14 months later than that.
- 42:32I I'm, I'm way late to the Fantastic Four train here.
- 42:37Like I just watched that that first movie with Chris Evans.
- 42:42Yeah, it's kind of weird. Last week.
- 42:48And they're good. They're good movies for what
- 42:50they. Are they're good movies?
- 42:52Like I was holding off because people are like, oh, you know,
- 42:56they're whatever. But like.
- 42:58Yeah, right. When those came out at that
- 43:02time, we got nothing. We got nothing.
- 43:05We maybe got like Blade, Spider Man, all those, but like
- 43:10compared to now, we got nothing. It was like 1 every what, few
- 43:14years? And I've watched them.
- 43:16I watch them every year. I watch all the movies every
- 43:18year. But I love the Fantastic Four
- 43:21movies. I don't care.
- 43:23You may not like it. You may hate that Galactus is a
- 43:26big cloud. Yeah, that part sucked.
- 43:28But for what they were, they brought the heat.
- 43:32They did really well. Yeah, I agree.
- 43:36The only thing that I was like, and this could have been better
- 43:40was when they initially got their powers, it was kind of
- 43:43like, yeah, but also you got to think, well, what were VFX like
- 43:49at the time? OK, we can't go anything too
- 43:52crazy, but, and we don't want it to end up like, you know, Spider
- 43:57Man, where it's just like all of a sudden you see the DNA
- 44:00changing and blah, blah, blah. So I can't complain too much
- 44:04about that either. See, I don't care about CGI not
- 44:11even a slightest bit because it's like I know it's fantasy.
- 44:14I know it's not real. That is fine.
- 44:16I'm never, I've never sat there and be like, oh, the CGI is
- 44:19terrible. I don't care.
- 44:22I I'm so easy to please. I am fine.
- 44:24Like I watched all of She Hulk and I was like, what is everyone
- 44:28so mad about? I still don't get it.
- 44:31Like, I don't understand it. So it's, you know, it's fantasy.
- 44:35It like, come on now, we all survived the Twilight movies,
- 44:40but we're mad about this. Goodness gracious.
- 44:46I think people just have way, way too high expectations these
- 44:50days. And I'm not saying like the
- 44:52quality is extremely low or anything, but like, you know,
- 44:58after end game people were still expecting end game and you you
- 45:05can't. That was like a once in a decade
- 45:07movie, you know what I'm saying? Yeah every.
- 45:10I hate when people say best movie since End game or
- 45:14everything has sucked after end game and I'm like why is that
- 45:16the bar? Right.
- 45:19Like, I don't understand, the MCU is the MCU.
- 45:22If if anything, we should be going by phases, not by a movie
- 45:26from that long ago that we're all still, I guess, traumatized
- 45:29by. I guess it sounds like it's just
- 45:32weird to me. Like, who cares that it's just
- 45:36so strange people? It's a very, very entitled
- 45:39fandom. We will complain about every
- 45:41single thing, any little thing, and then we complain.
- 45:45When I say we, I don't mean me. Give me whatever you want.
- 45:50I don't care, but they'll complain that there's too many
- 45:55projects, there's not enough projects, something it's
- 45:57cancelled, something it's delayed, something comes out too
- 46:00early. Just shut up and watch.
- 46:04Or don't watch, whatever works. But my gosh, there has to be
- 46:10other hobbies in the world than complaining.
- 46:14That's a fun hobby. It has to be exhausting.
- 46:19You have to be tired. Yes, positive vibes are way more
- 46:27fun. Agree.
- 46:30Let's see, do I have anything else worth while?
- 46:36I thought the cactus Berry scene was random.
- 46:40I thought the cucumber scene, I thought the cucumber scene was
- 46:44really cute when they're all like, cute.
- 46:47It was. It was just so adorable.
- 46:50I don't know why. I was like, I want to adopt all
- 46:52of you. It's so cute.
- 46:55Like, let's just be friends. We all live in Avengers Tower.
- 46:59He's going to eat the pop Tarts. I don't know.
- 47:01Like I don't even care like eat whatever pop tarts you want.
- 47:04I I love all of you. You're mine now.
- 47:11Oh, let's see. So.
- 47:19Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So she had her line when she was
- 47:25going up in the elevator shaft or whatever, how she's like, oh,
- 47:29don't even get me started on the childhood trauma.
- 47:32Child assassin. I win every time.
- 47:36And then later when she sees Bob and his childhood and, and she
- 47:42doesn't, you know, she's not the cocky look.
- 47:47I was a child assassin. Like, I've got more trauma than
- 47:50you. She was there.
- 47:51And she's like, your trauma is equally as valid as mine.
- 47:55And I thought that was so great. The She also had an amazing
- 48:02character arc throughout this entire movie.
- 48:04Throughout this entire MCU she has started from literally
- 48:10nothing to just being mad at her sister's grave to here we are
- 48:16her leading the new Avengers and accepting others trauma and not
- 48:21trying to one up them. That that's beautiful.
- 48:23Most people we know can't do that.
- 48:26That's crazy. Yes, yes, I loved it.
- 48:31Such good writing. So as we come to the end of the
- 48:36episode, what would you rate it out of 10?
- 48:4012. Wow.
- 48:42And you saw it. 3 * 12. Wow.
- 48:47Well. Let's.
- 48:48See it three times? What about you?
- 48:50I said 9.5, what was it? Oh, I gave, I docked it half a
- 48:59point because of Songbird. It was like, alright, I just put
- 49:02so much work into a video and I was like, I can't let you guys
- 49:06get away with that, so whatever. All right, so 12 out of 10.
- 49:10Perfect. 12 out of 10. So thank you for coming on this
- 49:17episode again, this is so much fun.
- 49:18I have such a good time with you and it was nice to talk to
- 49:21someone about Thunderbolts rather than just talking to
- 49:24myself in a screen. Well, it was good talking with
- 49:27you about it too. And thank you so much for having
- 49:30me on. Of course.
