- 1:50Speaker 1: for of our short reels and content. As always, I'm
- 1:53Speaker 1: your host of the program, Brandon Kbudo. Gonna break down
- 1:56Speaker 1: and react to the Savers advancing to Round two, their
- 1:59Speaker 1: first series playoff win in the NFL Playoffs since two
- 2:03Speaker 1: thousand and seven. Yes, a very long time ago and
- 2:06Speaker 1: for me personally, I was in grade ten the last
- 2:09Speaker 1: time the Sabers won a playoff series. As you can
- 2:11Speaker 1: see there, they win Game five on the road in Boston,
- 2:14Speaker 1: taking all three games in Boston in the series. They
- 2:17Speaker 1: win it by a four to one final with an
- 2:19Speaker 1: empty netter. Tonight, we're also going to hear from Sabers
- 2:22Speaker 1: head coach Lindy Ruff, as well as captain Rasmus Dallen
- 2:25Speaker 1: and forward Alex Tuck on the post game have their
- 2:29Speaker 1: postgame thoughts on advancing to Round two to face either
- 2:32Speaker 1: the Tampa Bay Lightning or the Montreal Canadians. As Tampa
- 2:34Speaker 1: Bay held on with a Game six overtime thriller won
- 2:38Speaker 1: nothing to be able to push it to Game seven
- 2:41Speaker 1: against Montreal and that's gonna be a fun one again.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Buffalo's gonna have home mice advantage over both of those teams.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Whoever gets through.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It's looking like a Tuesday or Wednesday would be the
- 2:51Speaker 1: start for the Sabers on home ice as they look to,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, go farther in the playoffs here going to
- 2:57Speaker 1: the second round. It's a pretty crazy to think about
- 3:00Speaker 1: where this team was. Absolutely, Benson is a dog crazy
- 3:03Speaker 1: impressive from a twenty year old. Thank you to Larry
- 3:05Speaker 1: Visuals for that. Definitely, Zack Benson continues to be a
- 3:09Speaker 1: thorn in the side of the Bruins and many teams
- 3:11Speaker 1: around the National Hockey League. He wants to be a
- 3:13Speaker 1: guy that's you know, boot in thirty one other buildings,
- 3:16Speaker 1: sort of like the Sabers developing their own mini brad
- 3:19Speaker 1: marshand here that the Boston Bruins had all those years.
- 3:23Speaker 1: So again, Global Pet Foods and their great Niagre Region
- 3:27Speaker 1: locations in Niagara Falls, Fon Hill and Scottsreed and Sat.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Catharine's is the proud show sponsor of Sabers Semantics, where
- 3:33Speaker 1: pets are unanabbily part of the family. And again, when
- 3:35Speaker 1: the Sabers win at home. The next day you can
- 3:37Speaker 1: go and get your dog or caddy free treat courtesy
- 3:40Speaker 1: of Global Pet Foods and Saber Semantics.
- 3:43Speaker 3: So let's look ahead.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I mean again, I'm still trying to process what we
- 3:48Speaker 1: saw in this game. I mean, as I mentioned, the
- 3:51Speaker 1: Bruins came in the second best road team in the
- 3:53Speaker 1: National Hockey League this season, and I know the Sabers
- 3:56Speaker 1: were a very good road team as well in that sense,
- 3:58Speaker 1: so don't want to take any cre away from them,
- 4:00Speaker 1: but to be able to do what they did to
- 4:02Speaker 1: the Bruins in those games on the road, you know,
- 4:05Speaker 1: just a wild first series for the Sabers in fourteen seasons.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And not only did they make the playoffs, they kicked
- 4:13Speaker 1: the door down, won the Atlantic Division and now advance
- 4:17Speaker 1: to the second round. It's just crazy to think about.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I know, downtown Buffalo is going to be rocking for
- 4:23Speaker 1: Round two. Sure the Blade Gang will be there, and
- 4:26Speaker 1: all eyes are on the Sabers right now with this
- 4:29Speaker 1: run that they've had. Jack Adams finalist Lindy Rouff it
- 4:32Speaker 1: was announced today that he's in the running in the
- 4:34Speaker 1: top three for Coach Win the Coaching of the Year award.
- 4:39Speaker 1: That's obviously a big accomplishment for Lindy to be able
- 4:41Speaker 1: to come back in his second tenure with the Sabers.
- 4:44Speaker 1: I'm going to read off some statistics later tonight, some
- 4:46Speaker 1: records that the Sabers have broken and things like that.
- 4:49Speaker 3: It's just an.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Impressive run that they've been on and one that I'm
- 4:53Speaker 1: still sometimes I wake up and wonder if I'm gonna
- 4:56Speaker 1: wake back up in November when the team was in
- 4:58Speaker 1: last place. But we're gonna try to discuss this one
- 5:00Speaker 1: as best I can. Again, We'll we'll provide you with
- 5:03Speaker 1: the postgame press conferences from Lindy Ruff as well as
- 5:06Speaker 1: captain Rasmusdalin and Alex talk a little bit later. But
- 5:10Speaker 1: let's uh, let's get forward here. Uh let's let's first,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I want to touch on the lineup. I didn't actually
- 5:15Speaker 1: get this get this pulled up. But Logan Stanley had
- 5:19Speaker 1: a little bit of a bug. He missed two games
- 5:22Speaker 1: or he missed the last last two days of practice,
- 5:24Speaker 1: so he was unable to go tonight. So that meant
- 5:27Speaker 1: that Michael kessel Ring got into the lineup for Buffalo
- 5:30Speaker 1: tonight on that third pair.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Quickly, I'll discuss.
- 5:35Speaker 1: It here as I forgot to save this when I
- 5:38Speaker 1: was doing the prep here, guys, excuse me. If you're
- 5:40Speaker 1: watching me on the video version, it's it's close to
- 5:42Speaker 1: uh midnight here in the on the East Coast, and
- 5:45Speaker 1: if you're listening in the next day in your favorite
- 5:47Speaker 1: on demand audio podcast platform, hopefully I've gotten some sleep
- 5:49Speaker 1: by then. But we'll we'll pull it up here because
- 5:53Speaker 1: I do want to discuss the lineup a little bit here,
- 5:56Speaker 1: as it was obviously a little bit different than we've
- 5:58Speaker 1: seen as of late. So let's get this moved around here,
- 6:03Speaker 1: all right. So lineup Peyton, Krebs, Thompson, Tuck no change
- 6:07Speaker 1: on the top line, Zucker McLeod Quinn on the second line,
- 6:11Speaker 1: Benson Norris Doan on that third line. It was nice
- 6:14Speaker 1: to see Josh Norris back in the lineup. Noah Austlin,
- 6:17Speaker 1: the news was not good on him, unfortunately from Lindy
- 6:19Speaker 1: Ruff the other day at practice. So it looks like
- 6:22Speaker 1: Noah Austlin, his great contribution so far early in his
- 6:26Speaker 1: playoff career, is gonna have to wait a bit. Maybe
- 6:28Speaker 1: if the Sabers already go on a deep playoff run,
- 6:30Speaker 1: maybe maybe he'll be back but really unfortunate for Noah Austlin.
- 6:34Speaker 1: We know how how big of a game he had
- 6:35Speaker 1: earlier in that series against Boston and was just a
- 6:38Speaker 1: force for the Sabers in those first few games and
- 6:41Speaker 1: a catalyst and one of them to be able to
- 6:42Speaker 1: lift them the victory. So that was really unfortunate for
- 6:45Speaker 1: for Noah Austlin. But luckily Josh Norris was able to
- 6:48Speaker 1: come back into the lineup. He gets an empty night
- 6:50Speaker 1: goal tonight that we'll talk about, but he was centering
- 6:52Speaker 1: that third line with Zach Benson and Josh Done. Talk
- 6:55Speaker 1: about dogs. Those two guys are just so fun to
- 6:58Speaker 1: watch and they get under under the other team's skin.
- 7:01Speaker 1: They're relentless on the fore check and for the same
- 7:07Speaker 1: here we go, thank you for that. Uh, they just
- 7:09Speaker 1: get under on the other team's skin. It was it
- 7:12Speaker 1: was like Josh Don's goal or him setting up Zach
- 7:16Speaker 1: Benson on that third goal for Buffalo to be able
- 7:18Speaker 1: to extend the lead there. That was just an incredible
- 7:22Speaker 1: effort from from a guy like Josh doone that we've
- 7:24Speaker 1: seen since he's been a Buffalo Saber has endured himself
- 7:27Speaker 1: to the locker room, the fan base and He's just
- 7:29Speaker 1: been such a fun player to watch, as well as
- 7:31Speaker 1: Zach Benson. They're just they're they're just two guys that
- 7:34Speaker 1: that are hard to play against and two guys that
- 7:36Speaker 1: are are relentless competitors out there. Benson being an undersized guy,
- 7:41Speaker 1: you know, still is able to get in there and
- 7:43Speaker 1: and mix it up with some of those guys. So
- 7:45Speaker 1: he's just a fun player to watch, and and these
- 7:48Speaker 1: guys just in general are are a fun line to watch.
- 7:50Speaker 3: And coming into the playoffs, we talked.
- 7:52Speaker 1: About this line, you know, being one of Buffalo's best
- 7:55Speaker 1: coming into the playoffs, and you know they've they've shown
- 7:58Speaker 1: it here even though Norris was out a little bit,
- 8:00Speaker 1: but Benson and done that combination there has been really
- 8:03Speaker 1: good for Buffalo. And then the fourth line was Jordan Greenway,
- 8:06Speaker 1: Tyson Kozak Beck. Balenstine still knows Sam Krrick. We'll see
- 8:09Speaker 1: if he's able to go in round two at some point,
- 8:12Speaker 1: but would be a big, big return for Buffalo to
- 8:15Speaker 1: be able to get him back for his face off
- 8:17Speaker 1: ability and what he's able to bring on that fourth
- 8:20Speaker 1: line and even with a scoring touch as well. On
- 8:24Speaker 1: the defensive pairs, Dolin and Samerson on the top pair,
- 8:27Speaker 1: Byrom and Power on the second pair, and then it
- 8:29Speaker 1: was kessel Ring and Timmins on the third pair. As
- 8:32Speaker 1: I mentioned, Stanley not in the lineup tonight, just wasn't
- 8:35Speaker 1: able to go. Took the warm ups, I believe, and
- 8:37Speaker 1: just wasn't able to go, you know, not just the
- 8:40Speaker 1: energy when you're sick for the last couple of days.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Hopefully he'll be ready to go for game one with
- 8:46Speaker 1: that big presence on the back end. But Alex Lion
- 8:48Speaker 1: got to start again for Buffalo as he's played so
- 8:51Speaker 1: well since coming in for Uco Peka Lukenin and had
- 8:54Speaker 1: another great performance tonight.
- 8:55Speaker 3: And the Lion King as they call him down in.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Buffalo has looked really good and got the the start
- 9:01Speaker 1: tonight and obviously with positive results there as the Sabers
- 9:05Speaker 1: get the four to one victory. Let's move forward with
- 9:08Speaker 1: our game stats tonight, as always brought to you by
- 9:10Speaker 1: Janel Flooring. If you can get a better deal anywhere
- 9:12Speaker 1: else you don't know Jack, check them out at Jano
- 9:14Speaker 1: Flooring dot com or visit their Naga Falls location to
- 9:16Speaker 1: begin your quality flooring project today. I'm sure Jack's gonna
- 9:19Speaker 1: be excited about this outcome, big Sabers fan himself. Shots
- 9:23Speaker 1: were even twenty six, twenty six, But when you look
- 9:26Speaker 1: in the grand scheme of things, it was really that
- 9:29Speaker 1: third period where Buffalo, you know, they had the lead
- 9:32Speaker 1: and they're trying to defend the lead. You know, Boston
- 9:35Speaker 1: through two periods of play, got my notes here only
- 9:39Speaker 1: fourteen shots on net. So again, the Sabers are doing
- 9:42Speaker 1: a great job keeping them in perimeter. They almost had
- 9:45Speaker 1: double their time of possession as well. It's late in
- 9:47Speaker 1: the second period when when the was it TNT tonight,
- 9:51Speaker 1: I can't even keep track ESPN, T and T.
- 9:54Speaker 3: The national broadcast had this.
- 9:56Speaker 1: They put the statistic up there that Buffalo's time possession
- 10:01Speaker 1: in the offensive zone was almost double of the Bruins,
- 10:03Speaker 1: and it was just a relentless four check for the Sabers.
- 10:07Speaker 1: There are points in the game where the Bruns just
- 10:08Speaker 1: couldn't get the puck out of the net or out
- 10:10Speaker 1: of the zone. Excuse me, because the Sabers doing such
- 10:12Speaker 1: a good job in the fore check and you know,
- 10:14Speaker 1: really forcing the Bruins into making mistakes, making Erron passes,
- 10:18Speaker 1: trying to you know, go around the net. The Sabers
- 10:21Speaker 1: first ones on the puck, and we've seen that all
- 10:23Speaker 1: series long, that the four check of the Sabers has
- 10:26Speaker 1: really created turnovers and caused the Bruins to make mistakes
- 10:31Speaker 1: on their own end, and a lot of Buffalo's goals
- 10:33Speaker 1: have come with the Bruins having the puck on their
- 10:36Speaker 1: stick trying to get out of their zone. Hasn't just
- 10:38Speaker 1: been Buffalo scoring on the rush. So very encouraging there.
- 10:42Speaker 1: It ends up being twenty six to twenty six best
- 10:44Speaker 1: because of the third period for Boston there. The Sabers
- 10:48Speaker 1: had scored one on one at one point in the
- 10:51Speaker 1: game as well, so they had one shot and one goal.
- 10:54Speaker 1: The face offs fifty fifty five point nine percent for Boston,
- 10:57Speaker 1: forty four point one for Buffalo. The power play for
- 11:00Speaker 1: Buffalo with a shocker there, they've only scored one in
- 11:03Speaker 1: the entire series. Oh for five or oh for four,
- 11:06Speaker 1: excuse me, it was really oh for three. They got
- 11:08Speaker 1: the late five minute power play for McAvoy's antics at
- 11:13Speaker 1: the end of the game, but they really didn't try
- 11:14Speaker 1: to do anything too crazy there, and they really didn't
- 11:18Speaker 1: try to score there, you know, two three goal lead
- 11:21Speaker 1: minute left in the game. They just really sort of
- 11:24Speaker 1: ragged the puck there, so I'm gonna say it's an
- 11:26Speaker 1: oh for three, it's gonna say oh for four on
- 11:28Speaker 1: the box score, but again still still an over there.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And the Sabers didn't take a minor penalty tonight that
- 11:33Speaker 1: resulted in a Bruins' power play, so no penalty kill
- 11:37Speaker 1: stats for them, and they didn't allow the Bruins to
- 11:39Speaker 1: go in the power play. And we know, you know,
- 11:41Speaker 1: with the with type of guys that they can throw
- 11:42Speaker 1: out on the man advantage, So good job Buffalo on
- 11:46Speaker 1: that end. The hits forty three twenty seven to fever
- 11:49Speaker 1: of Boston.
- 11:50Speaker 3: We know about that, you know.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Marco Stern coming to the series talking about the Bruns
- 11:54Speaker 1: being a more physical team, well, the Savers really punched
- 11:56Speaker 1: back and punched them in the mouth more times than not.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Block shots nineteen nine in favor of the Sabers. They
- 12:01Speaker 1: did a great job blocking shots as usual. The third
- 12:04Speaker 1: pair of kessel Ring and Timmins did a solid job.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Timmins has been blocking a lot of shots throughout the
- 12:10Speaker 1: series with Stanley there and by Room as well has
- 12:15Speaker 1: been a defensive force as well, which will sort of
- 12:17Speaker 1: show the statistics later on if his entire series offensively
- 12:20Speaker 1: and defensively, really showing why this guy won a Stanley
- 12:23Speaker 1: Cup with the Colorado Avalanche just.
- 12:25Speaker 3: A few years ago.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Giveaways nineteen to fifteen in favor of Buffalo and takeaways
- 12:30Speaker 1: three to three both teams there. So again the game
- 12:34Speaker 1: stats can sort of be a discrepancy there when you
- 12:37Speaker 1: look at it. Buffalo, you know, really dominated this game
- 12:40Speaker 1: and the Bruins didn't really have much puck possession throughout
- 12:43Speaker 1: the entire game. Again, the third period was a little
- 12:46Speaker 1: bit different with Buffalo holding a lead, but still really
- 12:50Speaker 1: again they held the Bruins shots on net fourteen through
- 12:53Speaker 1: two periods of play on home ice. A. The Sabers defensive,
- 12:58Speaker 1: you know, structure there was really good and obviously not
- 13:01Speaker 1: allowing Boston. The powerplay helps and the shots on that
- 13:03Speaker 1: department as well. So let's let's move.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Forward here with the Sabers stat card.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And again it's a little bit small on the screen
- 13:11Speaker 1: for you guys, so if you're following along on the
- 13:13Speaker 1: audio version, I'll sort of read it off to you.
- 13:16Speaker 1: But I thought this was was interesting and I got
- 13:19Speaker 1: to give credit to hockey stat cards on X They
- 13:22Speaker 1: do a great job. This is a breakdown of the
- 13:24Speaker 1: entire series for Buffalo, not just the one game they
- 13:27Speaker 1: do it. They do a breakdown after every game as well,
- 13:29Speaker 1: but first round you can see there on the video
- 13:33Speaker 1: version just how well the Sabers did in the and
- 13:37Speaker 1: bow and byrom like look at the you can see
- 13:39Speaker 1: on the left side is defense and on the right
- 13:43Speaker 1: side offense. Just what an unbelievable performance from him. You
- 13:48Speaker 1: can see how how big his tally is there and
- 13:52Speaker 1: what he was able to do for the Sabers. You
- 13:54Speaker 1: look at guys like Tage Thompson, Alex Talk, Rasmus Dalen.
- 13:58Speaker 3: You're big guys.
- 13:59Speaker 1: You're your main catalysts that you expect and your highest
- 14:03Speaker 1: paid players to come through in the biggest moments. Owen
- 14:05Speaker 1: Power also had a good series. You could see there
- 14:09Speaker 1: in the big orange and red statistics. Logan Stanley was
- 14:12Speaker 1: really good. Connor Timmins was great. Bowen Byram as I mentioned,
- 14:16Speaker 1: look at the red and orange there for his on
- 14:20Speaker 1: ice you know, defensive abilities there and even guys like
- 14:25Speaker 1: Ryan McLeod, Jason Zucker and Jack Quinn that line there
- 14:29Speaker 1: had had solid defensive stats in the for the Sabers
- 14:33Speaker 1: in the series and led them to be able to
- 14:35Speaker 1: have a lot of success there and again Bowen Byram
- 14:40Speaker 1: just one of his best performances as a Saber I
- 14:42Speaker 1: think in the series has really elevated here. And a
- 14:45Speaker 1: guy that we talked about in our last episode that
- 14:48Speaker 1: was talks that he might not be a Saber going
- 14:50Speaker 1: forward to the last offseason there were trade talks with
- 14:52Speaker 1: him and what was his future going to be like
- 14:55Speaker 1: in Buffalo, needing a new contract. But again he's here
- 14:58Speaker 1: and thankfully he's been able to help up the Sabers
- 15:00Speaker 1: here on this run so far and what have been one.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Of their their key contributors there.
- 15:05Speaker 1: So I just wanted to quickly touch on that because
- 15:07Speaker 1: I thought it was important to wrap up the entire
- 15:09Speaker 1: series and show you guys on on paper there sort
- 15:12Speaker 1: of what the Sabers have been able to do individually
- 15:16Speaker 1: and as a team.
- 15:17Speaker 3: It's been.
- 15:18Speaker 1: It was it was really you know, even though the
- 15:19Speaker 1: Bruins won that game in overtime in Game five, you know,
- 15:23Speaker 1: it felt like the Sabers were in control of the
- 15:25Speaker 1: series for most of it. We know, the laps in
- 15:29Speaker 1: Game one where they had to come back and have
- 15:31Speaker 1: that miraculous comeback, we know they didn't play a great
- 15:34Speaker 1: game in Game two as well, and that was really
- 15:37Speaker 1: their their big stinker of the series.
- 15:38Speaker 3: But you know what happened last game.
- 15:41Speaker 1: You would have loved for them to be able to
- 15:42Speaker 1: end it on home ice, but they ended here in Boston,
- 15:45Speaker 1: taking all three games on the road. Let's move forward
- 15:48Speaker 1: again with the scoring summary tonight, brought to you by
- 15:50Speaker 1: the Niagre Employment Help Center helping people find work in
- 15:52Speaker 1: the Niagara Region.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Since nineteen eighty three.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Chuck Out are up to day job ord at EHD
- 15:55Speaker 1: dot own dot you find your next work opportunity today.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Get my notes out here for you guys so I
- 16:01Speaker 1: can follow along because felt like felt like two days
- 16:04Speaker 1: ago that this game started for me. But again, Rasmus
- 16:08Speaker 1: Doleen gets things started for the Sabers. He finds Alex
- 16:12Speaker 1: Tuck Doleen cut down and for some reason, both Bruins
- 16:16Speaker 1: defenders just left Alex Tuck standing right in front of
- 16:18Speaker 1: the net. I don't know what McAvoy was doing on
- 16:20Speaker 1: that play. Seemed like he was just really frustrated throughout
- 16:23Speaker 1: the entire series for the most part, quite frankly on
- 16:26Speaker 1: the Bruins side for their best defenseman. But Dahlin's able
- 16:29Speaker 1: to find Alex Tuck there right in the blue paint
- 16:31Speaker 1: and he just shovels it, redirects it right in for
- 16:34Speaker 1: his fourth goal of the playoffs. That was three minutes
- 16:36Speaker 1: and twenty five seconds into the game, and that's a
- 16:38Speaker 1: big start for the Sabers on the road again. The
- 16:40Speaker 1: Bruins crowd came out in full force, wanting to sport
- 16:43Speaker 1: their team, but the Sabers silenced them early in that
- 16:46Speaker 1: first period and we're able to get the lead again.
- 16:49Speaker 1: Just great job by Dollen and we haven't even seen
- 16:52Speaker 1: his best really in this series, and the Sabers have
- 16:55Speaker 1: still had that great success. So it's nice to see
- 16:58Speaker 1: Dollen contribute here offensively and really, you know, get the
- 17:02Speaker 1: Sabers going on the board here in a big start here.
- 17:05Speaker 1: You know, just I don't know what the Bruns were
- 17:07Speaker 1: doing on this play quite frankly, I keep just scratching
- 17:09Speaker 1: my head about it. But Tuck finds himself loose there
- 17:13Speaker 1: and he's able to just redirect that great pass from Dallen,
- 17:15Speaker 1: you know, from the goal line, cutting down from the
- 17:17Speaker 1: from the point down near the left side of the
- 17:20Speaker 1: of the boards and finds Tuck right out front and right,
- 17:23Speaker 1: just like that, the Savers have a one nothing lead
- 17:25Speaker 1: in this game. The next shift, actually the Sabers had
- 17:29Speaker 1: a goal called back. Zach Benson, trying to I guess
- 17:33Speaker 1: showcase his baseball skills, was able to whack one out
- 17:36Speaker 1: of the air as Dick was clearly over top of
- 17:37Speaker 1: the goal of the crossbar, so that one was waved off.
- 17:40Speaker 1: But I guess a solid hand eye coordination there from
- 17:43Speaker 1: Zach Benson. If he wants to play baseball this summer,
- 17:46Speaker 1: I think a team would want to call him. But
- 17:48Speaker 1: that the Sabers had a second goal waved off there immediately,
- 17:53Speaker 1: no no real, real great from the Sabers end. It
- 17:56Speaker 1: was clearly high and Benson, you know, he got got
- 18:00Speaker 1: something later in the game, so I'm sure he wasn't
- 18:02Speaker 1: too upset about that one. The Sabers got a power play.
- 18:07Speaker 1: There was only one shot up until this point. Thirteen
- 18:09Speaker 1: minute mark of the first period. Lindholm went off for
- 18:12Speaker 1: cross checking Zach Benson into the boards, and Benson once
- 18:15Speaker 1: again just continued to get under under the skin of
- 18:17Speaker 1: the Bruins. He drew another penalty and again just a
- 18:22Speaker 1: guy that was so frustrating for the Bruins to be
- 18:24Speaker 1: able to get to We saw what Charlie McAvoy did
- 18:27Speaker 1: at the end of the game there, and a guy
- 18:29Speaker 1: that is just really elevated as still a very young
- 18:33Speaker 1: player as well, Like we got to level our expectations.
- 18:36Speaker 1: This kid, you know, could still be playing, you know,
- 18:39Speaker 1: in junior hockey when you really think about it.
- 18:41Speaker 3: There.
- 18:42Speaker 1: But Zach Benson, you know, undersized guy, but he does
- 18:45Speaker 1: what he can. Creates a power play for the Sabers.
- 18:49Speaker 1: But again the power play is a major concern for Buffalo.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Still only one power play goal. I believe it's forty
- 18:55Speaker 1: four chances now, just not going to be able to
- 18:58Speaker 1: be good enough. The second unit generated some decent chances tonight,
- 19:01Speaker 1: but again we've been saying for a long time that
- 19:03Speaker 1: the second unit has been able to generate more than
- 19:06Speaker 1: the first unit for Buffalo, which is quite concerning when
- 19:10Speaker 1: you look at the amount of talent that they put
- 19:12Speaker 1: out there, and it's just a confidence thing I think
- 19:14Speaker 1: at this point, just being able to get over that
- 19:16Speaker 1: hump again. The Sabers had a miscommunication on a change
- 19:20Speaker 1: with only four players out on the ice and Casey
- 19:22Speaker 1: middlestadt former Saber, went in on a clean breakaway and
- 19:25Speaker 1: he was stoned by Alex Lyon and on the rebound
- 19:28Speaker 1: as well, So big opportunity in the game there for
- 19:31Speaker 1: the Bruins to try to tie it, and Lion came
- 19:33Speaker 1: up with a massive save on Casey middlestadt a little
- 19:36Speaker 1: bit of miscommunication there, as Rob Raye Thing mentioned Ray Ferraro,
- 19:40Speaker 1: excuse me in between the benches that the Sabers were
- 19:43Speaker 1: just caught in between a change and lost Casey Middlestat.
- 19:46Speaker 1: But big save by Alex Lion continues to be a
- 19:49Speaker 1: big reason why Buffalo was able to have success in
- 19:53Speaker 1: the later part of the series. Mattia Samuelson then at
- 19:56Speaker 1: the twelve to twenty six mark of the first period,
- 20:00Speaker 1: Crebs with a nice, nice drop pass to him as
- 20:02Speaker 1: he gained the zone and there was a lot of
- 20:04Speaker 1: guys standing in front of the net and he just
- 20:06Speaker 1: fires one.
- 20:06Speaker 3: With all that traffic.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Swayman didn't see it, and that's the way you're gonna
- 20:09Speaker 1: have to beat a great goaltender like Jeremy Swayman. But
- 20:12Speaker 1: Tia samerson second goal of the playoffs after that big,
- 20:16Speaker 1: big one that he had in Game one in that comeback,
- 20:19Speaker 1: Peyton Krebs's fourth assist of the playoffs. Tage Thompson gets
- 20:23Speaker 1: a secondary assist on that one as well as was
- 20:26Speaker 1: one of the players that was net front to be
- 20:28Speaker 1: able to give Buffalo a two nothing lead, and that
- 20:31Speaker 1: was big obviously on the road to be able to
- 20:33Speaker 1: have a too nothing lead going into the first intermission,
- 20:36Speaker 1: knowing the Bruins are on the brink of elimination and
- 20:38Speaker 1: knowing how tough goals have been to come for the
- 20:41Speaker 1: Bruins in this series, so massive goal for Samuelson and
- 20:45Speaker 1: the Sabers continue to get production from the back end
- 20:49Speaker 1: that's been you know, one of their strong points all
- 20:51Speaker 1: season long second in the National Hockey League and goals
- 20:55Speaker 1: for their defensive course, so the Tia Samerson continues his
- 20:59Speaker 1: breakout year, is able to get that that timely goal.
- 21:02Speaker 1: He scored two time league goals in the series so far.
- 21:05Speaker 1: And they don't I guess, they don't ask ask how,
- 21:07Speaker 1: just ask how many? And that's what Samuelson with two
- 21:10Speaker 1: big ones so far in his NHL playoff debut.
- 21:14Speaker 3: In the second period.
- 21:15Speaker 1: There the Bruins were able to finally get on the
- 21:16Speaker 1: board two on one Pastor taking the cross ice feed
- 21:19Speaker 1: from Zaka and he buried it again. Pastornach didn't get
- 21:23Speaker 1: all of it. It was a little bit of a knuckle puck,
- 21:24Speaker 1: but he was able to put it in the right spot.
- 21:27Speaker 1: He caused the turnover on the cloud in the neutral
- 21:29Speaker 1: zone as well, and you knew at some point that
- 21:31Speaker 1: the Bruins big guns were at least gonna strike it
- 21:34Speaker 1: at some point to get back into the game. Pasternak's
- 21:37Speaker 1: third of the playoffs. Zaka has been quiet this playoffs
- 21:40Speaker 1: and was quiet since it's over for them. Two assists
- 21:43Speaker 1: or second assist for him in the playoffs. That was
- 21:45Speaker 1: a minute fifty four into the second period. So again
- 21:48Speaker 1: the Sabers give up an early goal, but that was
- 21:51Speaker 1: really it because they weren't able to capitalize more momentum
- 21:55Speaker 1: on that. After that, that Pastronach goal and that little
- 21:58Speaker 1: laps there that the Sabers had. They did a good
- 22:00Speaker 1: job in that second period and we're able to have
- 22:02Speaker 1: that two to one lead, you know, really going to
- 22:04Speaker 1: the third period. The Sabers had another power play in
- 22:05Speaker 1: that period, obviously didn't didn't do anything significant the Sabers.
- 22:11Speaker 1: They buried the Bruins in a long shift at one
- 22:14Speaker 1: point in the second period, I put down here, Byron
- 22:17Speaker 1: walked down all alone, but was stopped. The Boston just
- 22:20Speaker 1: had such a hard time getting the puck out of
- 22:21Speaker 1: their zone, and they had guys that were out there
- 22:24Speaker 1: for about a two minute three minute shift and Buffalo
- 22:27Speaker 1: was doing a good job of hamming them in their
- 22:28Speaker 1: own end. But that was the best chance there with
- 22:31Speaker 1: Byron being able to cut down, had nobody really around
- 22:33Speaker 1: him and swim and made a nice pad save to
- 22:36Speaker 1: be able to keep it at that score. At one point,
- 22:38Speaker 1: there were eight minutes without a whistle. Though in that
- 22:41Speaker 1: second period it was just a game that was, you know,
- 22:45Speaker 1: it didn't have the best flow to it, but and
- 22:47Speaker 1: it wasn't, you know, pretty at times, but it was
- 22:49Speaker 1: just eight minute stretch of play without a single whistle,
- 22:53Speaker 1: and it was it was one of those the just
- 22:55Speaker 1: nerve wracking times where you know, there were a couple
- 22:58Speaker 1: of plays here and there, but it was just the
- 22:59Speaker 1: team's going through the motions there, going through the line changes,
- 23:02Speaker 1: being able to change on the fly with that long
- 23:04Speaker 1: change in the second period as well. So that was
- 23:07Speaker 1: pretty interesting to watch their eight straight minutes without a whistle,
- 23:11Speaker 1: But that meant later in the period we got extra
- 23:14Speaker 1: on the TV timeouts, and man, those are frustrating to watch,
- 23:18Speaker 1: especially when you got a seven to thirty start. But
- 23:20Speaker 1: regardless of that, some other statistics. As I mentioned, Boston
- 23:23Speaker 1: only had fourteen shots in the open through two periods
- 23:26Speaker 1: of play. The Sabers were in a great job blocking shots.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Here are a couple other statistics that we were mentioned
- 23:32Speaker 1: by the national broadcast tonight. The Bruins have had one
- 23:35Speaker 1: hundred and fifty seven deficits and elimination games in their
- 23:38Speaker 1: NHL history and have only won four of them. So
- 23:41Speaker 1: that is now four on one hundred and fifty eight
- 23:44Speaker 1: if you're keeping track for Bruins fans. There again, the
- 23:47Speaker 1: Sabers their first playoff round win since two thousand and seven.
- 23:51Speaker 1: The Bruins coming in had won six of eight previous
- 23:54Speaker 1: all time playoff series against the Sabers head to head,
- 23:57Speaker 1: So now the Sabers pick up their third in all
- 24:00Speaker 1: time against the Bruins. And we remember the great May
- 24:04Speaker 1: Day back in the day as well, nineteen ninety three.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Great moment.
- 24:07Speaker 1: There a couple other statistics that'll touch on later on
- 24:10Speaker 1: in the episode, but in the third period, Jason Zucker
- 24:14Speaker 1: got hit pretty hard and then he's going to the bench.
- 24:15Speaker 3: He took another hit, but he was able to remain
- 24:17Speaker 3: in the game.
- 24:18Speaker 1: He's been a tough veteran for the Sabers and it's
- 24:21Speaker 1: going to take a lot to keep number seventeen out
- 24:23Speaker 1: for very long. Again, the Bruins down two to one
- 24:26Speaker 1: going to the third period with their lives, their playoff
- 24:29Speaker 1: lives on the line here. I didn't really notice a
- 24:32Speaker 1: lot from the Bruins in that third period. I didn't
- 24:34Speaker 1: really see that desperation that you would expect from a
- 24:36Speaker 1: team that's on the brink of elimination on home ice.
- 24:39Speaker 1: I think that Sabers just really you know, clogged and
- 24:42Speaker 1: really did a good job of not really giving them
- 24:44Speaker 1: a lot of great opportunities. I think, you know, the
- 24:48Speaker 1: defensive structure and what Lindy Ruff was preaching coming in,
- 24:51Speaker 1: learning a lot from that game too, loss that they had,
- 24:53Speaker 1: or even you know, what they did in Game one
- 24:55Speaker 1: and having to have a miraculous comeback.
- 24:57Speaker 3: I think, you know, they learned a lot.
- 24:58Speaker 1: From some of those earlier games in the series, and
- 25:00Speaker 1: again against a good team like Boston that for some
- 25:03Speaker 1: reason didn't play James Haggins again and burning the year
- 25:06Speaker 1: off his entry level contract to still head scratch her there,
- 25:09Speaker 1: great young player, and again the Bruins have some very good,
- 25:13Speaker 1: talented young players and they'll be back in future years.
- 25:16Speaker 1: But as I mentioned off the open, this Zach Benson
- 25:18Speaker 1: goal was all due as Josh Done.
- 25:21Speaker 3: What a play.
- 25:22Speaker 1: You know, the Bruins win the face off, they have
- 25:24Speaker 1: an offensive zone draw, they went it back to the point,
- 25:27Speaker 1: defenseman fumbles it and you know it's don't I think
- 25:32Speaker 1: it was done. He was able to kind of shovel
- 25:34Speaker 1: the puck away and able to get to get the
- 25:37Speaker 1: puck down the ice, and he beats both Bruins defenders
- 25:40Speaker 1: to the puck. I don't know if they just stopped
- 25:42Speaker 1: skating or didn't realize that he was that close. And
- 25:45Speaker 1: then as a result of that, Zach Benson standing right
- 25:48Speaker 1: in the slot, Josh Done finds him and he's able
- 25:51Speaker 1: to bury it. Zach Benson's second goal of the playoffs
- 25:54Speaker 1: at the five fifty eight mark to make a three
- 25:57Speaker 1: to one Buffalo And man, did that ever feel like
- 25:59Speaker 1: it took the wind out of the Bruins sales if
- 26:02Speaker 1: it didn't already earlier in that game. I mean, just
- 26:04Speaker 1: that right there goes to show whatever can do for you,
- 26:07Speaker 1: because the Bruins had an offensive own draw, got it
- 26:09Speaker 1: back to the point and somehow it ends up in
- 26:11Speaker 1: the Bruns net shortly shortly after that, just by a
- 26:15Speaker 1: relentless for check by Josh Stone and getting the puck
- 26:18Speaker 1: to Zach Benson and showing why these two guys have
- 26:20Speaker 1: been so valuable for the Sabers all season long and
- 26:24Speaker 1: now in the playoffs coming up with big performances. These
- 26:26Speaker 1: are the types of guys and the types of goals
- 26:29Speaker 1: and plays that you see that get you deep into
- 26:31Speaker 1: the playoffs. And what a play that was from Josh
- 26:35Speaker 1: doone to be able to find Zach Benson and sort
- 26:37Speaker 1: of shell shock the Bruins fans, but also the two
- 26:39Speaker 1: defensemen on the ice that were sort of miscommunicating of
- 26:42Speaker 1: what the heck actually happened on that play. The Bruns
- 26:44Speaker 1: pulled the goalie with three forty left down two you
- 26:46Speaker 1: expect that obviously, and it was shortly after Josh Norris
- 26:49Speaker 1: sealed it in the empty net with his first goal
- 26:51Speaker 1: of the playoffs, and you know that's good for him
- 26:54Speaker 1: because he's obviously been injured in the series and he
- 26:57Speaker 1: gets the dagger there for the Bruins wasn't already over.
- 27:01Speaker 1: That was the final nail in the Bruins coffin for
- 27:03Speaker 1: the twenty five to twenty sixth season at the sixteen
- 27:05Speaker 1: to forty mark and advances Buffalo to the second round
- 27:10Speaker 1: for the first time since two thousand and seven. Just
- 27:13Speaker 1: so fun to watch this game tonight, you know, as
- 27:16Speaker 1: nervous as a lot of people were coming in about
- 27:18Speaker 1: you know, are the Bruins finally going to get one
- 27:20Speaker 1: at home and push it to Game seven in Buffalo
- 27:22Speaker 1: on Sunday? While Buffalo came out with a perfect execution
- 27:25Speaker 1: and game plan tonight. Alex Line was named the first
- 27:27Speaker 1: star in the building with a nine to sixty two
- 27:29Speaker 1: save percentage twenty five saves on twenty six shots.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Tape Thompson with his two assists was the second star.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Jeremy Swayman was the third star in the building, giving
- 27:37Speaker 1: up those those three goals to Buffalo, but he was
- 27:42Speaker 1: their MVP all series long and showed out to Jeremy
- 27:44Speaker 1: swam and he was he kept him in most games
- 27:46Speaker 1: and if it wasn't for him, the series might have
- 27:49Speaker 1: been over quicker. But his again, his statistics might not
- 27:52Speaker 1: show it in this game, but I wouldn't say it
- 27:55Speaker 1: was his best performance of the series, but definitely gave
- 27:58Speaker 1: Boston an opportunity to remain in the game, even though
- 28:00Speaker 1: they really didn't didn't have much urgency offensively until it
- 28:05Speaker 1: was a little bit too late there. I know they
- 28:07Speaker 1: ended up with twenty six shots, but it was fourteen
- 28:09Speaker 1: through two periods and the Sabers again had double the
- 28:12Speaker 1: time of possession after two periods of play as well.
- 28:15Speaker 1: So the Sabers win it for to one, and they
- 28:18Speaker 1: take it overall in the series by a three to
- 28:20Speaker 1: two score. Game six ends the Bruins season at TD Gardens.
- 28:25Speaker 1: The Sabers went all three games on the road in
- 28:28Speaker 1: Boston and advanced to the second round to play either
- 28:30Speaker 1: Montreal or Tampa Bay. After that heroic Game six overtime
- 28:36Speaker 1: victory by Tampa Bay to push it to Game seven,
- 28:39Speaker 1: won nothing, So again, the Sabers are gonna have home
- 28:41Speaker 1: ice advantage over either of those teams no matter what happens,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and it's gonna start either Tuesday or Wednesday, most likely
- 28:47Speaker 1: as the Atlantic Division champions. The only team they wouldn't
- 28:49Speaker 1: have home ice on is the Carolina Hurricanes, who are
- 28:52Speaker 1: facing the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round.
- 28:55Speaker 3: So we'll have to wait.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Don't want to get too ahead of ourselves here, but
- 28:58Speaker 1: that's the road ahead for Buffalo if they do want
- 29:01Speaker 1: to advance to the Eastern Conference Final, and maybe you know,
- 29:06Speaker 1: if you want to even say that even further.
- 29:08Speaker 3: But taking a look at the.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Scores again, Game one for Buffalo four to three victory
- 29:14Speaker 1: with that massive third period comeback. Boston won four to
- 29:18Speaker 1: two in Game two to even the series one to one.
- 29:20Speaker 1: The Sabers won Game three three to one to go
- 29:23Speaker 1: up two to one. Game four they won six to
- 29:25Speaker 1: one convincingly in Boston. Those two games were massive to
- 29:28Speaker 1: go up three to one in the series. Boston wins
- 29:30Speaker 1: Game five in Buffalo two to one in overtime to
- 29:34Speaker 1: be able to remain alive. Sabers stillup three to two
- 29:36Speaker 1: in the series, and then the Sabers end at four
- 29:38Speaker 1: to one tonight. So when you look at it their
- 29:41Speaker 1: total goals for the series, let me do some quick
- 29:44Speaker 1: math here, give me one second, twenty goals four for
- 29:49Speaker 1: the Sabers in the six games. Great job there by
- 29:53Speaker 1: them being able to get it done. So for those
- 29:55Speaker 1: audio listeners, this is going to be our break here
- 29:57Speaker 1: on Saber Semantics, thank you for listening.

- 34:51Speaker 3: Make sure to give us a follow on exit.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Saber Samantics was on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok by searching
- 34:55Speaker 1: your I'm share GM Sports Network for our short reels
- 34:59Speaker 1: and tent. As I mentioned off the open, let's quickly
- 35:03Speaker 1: go through some of the statistics, and again these are
- 35:05Speaker 1: courtesy of Sabers pr because I thought they were a
- 35:07Speaker 1: little bit interesting. As you can see, the Sabers have
- 35:11Speaker 1: defeated the Boston Burns and we'll move on to round two.
- 35:14Speaker 3: Here are some statistics here.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I gotta make sure I get through rate to x
- 35:19Speaker 1: account up here, all right, So here these are just
- 35:22Speaker 1: a couple I saved. There was about ten other ones,
- 35:24Speaker 1: but I just thought these ones were a little bit
- 35:26Speaker 1: interesting for the Sabers perspective. Tonight's win marks the second
- 35:29Speaker 1: time in franchise history that the Savers have earned a
- 35:32Speaker 1: win in their first three road contest of a playoff year.
- 35:35Speaker 1: They lasted that from April sixth to April fourteenth, nineteen
- 35:39Speaker 1: eighty three at Montreal, two games in Boston, one game,
- 35:43Speaker 1: so they haven't done that since nineteen eighty three, so
- 35:46Speaker 1: take that as you wish. Alex Lion allowed just five
- 35:49Speaker 1: total goals and five appearances in the series. Again, Lukeanan
- 35:51Speaker 1: started games as well. It is the fewest goals allowed
- 35:55Speaker 1: in any five games span in the playoffs by a
- 35:58Speaker 1: Sabers goaltender all time, Alex Lyon breaking all time records
- 36:02Speaker 1: for the Sabers. Pretty impressive there, and Buffalo allowed just
- 36:05Speaker 1: one goal per road game played in the series. It
- 36:09Speaker 1: marks the first time in franchise history that the Sabers
- 36:12Speaker 1: have recorded a three game road streak of one or
- 36:15Speaker 1: fewer goals allowed in the playoffs. The only other Buffalo allowed.
- 36:20Speaker 1: The only other time Buffalo allowed three or fewer goals
- 36:22Speaker 1: in a three game roadspan in the playoffs was from
- 36:25Speaker 1: April twenty first to twenty seventh, nineteen ninety seven versus
- 36:29Speaker 1: the Ottawa Senator. So some pretty crazy statistics there and
- 36:33Speaker 1: the last one. Zach Benson's goal was his second of
- 36:35Speaker 1: the playoffs. He's the first Sabers skater aged twenty or
- 36:38Speaker 1: younger to record multiple goals in his first six playoff
- 36:42Speaker 1: games of their career since Pierre Turjehon, a former first
- 36:45Speaker 1: overall pick of the Sabers from April six to April fourteenth,
- 36:48Speaker 1: nineteen ninety eight, where he had four goals and three assists.
- 36:52Speaker 1: So Zach Benson tyan a Pierre Turjon record, Alex Lion
- 36:56Speaker 1: breaking a goaltending record for the Sabers with all the
- 36:58Speaker 1: great goaltenders they've had in the past, the Millers and
- 37:00Speaker 1: the Dominic Ashicks as you can see behind me there,
- 37:03Speaker 1: but just again, for a team that hasn't won a
- 37:07Speaker 1: series since two thousand and seven, the Sabers sure are
- 37:10Speaker 1: not only getting there, but they're they're breaking down the
- 37:12Speaker 1: door with some of some of the things that they've
- 37:13Speaker 1: been able to do on this run. It's been it's
- 37:16Speaker 1: been incredible to watch and we're gonna raise at least
- 37:18Speaker 1: another banner with the Atlantic Division championship and now moving
- 37:21Speaker 1: on to Round two.
- 37:21Speaker 3: So with that, as.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Always, this show is brought to you by Global Pet Foods,
- 37:26Speaker 1: where pets are unnavally part of the family and there
- 37:28Speaker 1: are three great Niagaregian locations and Niagara Falls Fon Hill
- 37:30Speaker 1: and Scott Street in Saint Catharines. The Sabers move on
- 37:34Speaker 1: to Round two of the NHL Playoffs again in the chat, again,
- 37:39Speaker 1: as as Larry Visual said earlier, Benson is a dog
- 37:42Speaker 1: crazy impressive from a twenty year old. Yeah, absolutely, a
- 37:44Speaker 1: guy could be playing in his overage season, not that
- 37:46Speaker 1: that would have been likely, but technically still could have
- 37:48Speaker 1: been playing in junior hockey. So that's just crazy to
- 37:51Speaker 1: think about that that Zach Benson is still so young,
- 37:54Speaker 1: that the that the the Sabers are are still developing.
- 37:57Speaker 1: You know, they've got that young core locked up for
- 38:00Speaker 1: a long period of time. You got Josh Doone locked
- 38:02Speaker 1: up as well. Most of the defensive core is locked
- 38:05Speaker 1: up again. Alex Tuck's an unrestricted free agent, but depending
- 38:08Speaker 1: on the type of run that the Sabers go on here,
- 38:10Speaker 1: maybe a hometown discount is in order for the Rochester
- 38:14Speaker 1: boy and the Sabers fan growing up.
- 38:16Speaker 3: So we'll have to wait and see with Alex Tuck.
- 38:19Speaker 1: But again, sort of their inner rental, and they knew
- 38:22Speaker 1: that that they would need a guy like that going
- 38:24Speaker 1: into the playoffs, and absolutely they've needed him for a
- 38:27Speaker 1: run like this, And I couldn't even imagine what the
- 38:29Speaker 1: team would have looked like right now if Alex Duck
- 38:31Speaker 1: was traded at the deadline just because he was an
- 38:33Speaker 1: unrestricted free agent, I don't know where what this team
- 38:37Speaker 1: would look like right now. I don't know what the
- 38:38Speaker 1: morale in the locker room would be like right now.
- 38:40Speaker 1: But I'm glad that the Yarmokeek line did not go
- 38:43Speaker 1: in that rope. As I mentioned earlier, Logan Stanley did
- 38:46Speaker 1: not play for the Sabers in this game. He was
- 38:48Speaker 1: out with an illness, so we'll have to wait and
- 38:50Speaker 1: see if he's able to go later in the series.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Let's get to Sabers head coach Lindy Ruff with his
- 38:55Speaker 1: postgame thoughts. Is always brought to you by Wild Bills
- 38:58Speaker 1: out of Repair, helping customers stay safe and confident on
- 39:01Speaker 1: the road in NAGRA since twenty twelve, in honor of
- 39:04Speaker 1: the late William Robert Hunter. Here's what the Sabers head
- 39:08Speaker 1: coach had to say following his team moving on to
- 39:10Speaker 1: Round two of the NHL Playoffs. And we'll come back
- 39:12Speaker 1: and talk more about it.
- 39:15Speaker 8: The need with this group of players and what they
- 39:17Speaker 8: accomplished to get to the playoffs for the first time
- 39:20Speaker 8: for this organization in fifteen years. What makes this first
- 39:23Speaker 8: playoff series win for you as a coaching for you
- 39:25Speaker 8: as part of this team so meaningful.
- 39:27Speaker 9: Well, you know, I think this part A is getting
- 39:30Speaker 9: to the playoffs. Part B is trying to have success
- 39:34Speaker 9: once you get there. And you know, we talked about
- 39:37Speaker 9: how hard this series was going to be, what a
- 39:40Speaker 9: challenge it was going to be to try to you know,
- 39:43Speaker 9: take out a good team. Boston is a good team,
- 39:47Speaker 9: and then too to do it on the road with
- 39:51Speaker 9: the team that played so well at home, one of
- 39:53Speaker 9: the better home records in the league. I thought our
- 39:57Speaker 9: guys dug in and gave us a heck of a game
- 39:59Speaker 9: to When do.
- 40:00Speaker 10: You talk this morning about what it would take to
- 40:03Speaker 10: win this game, whether it was using your speed and
- 40:06Speaker 10: that type of thing. It seemed like you executed it
- 40:09Speaker 10: almost perfectly the way you laid it out earlier.
- 40:12Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, we uh, we knew we could be better.
- 40:17Speaker 11: You know in the small areas. Get inside.
- 40:19Speaker 9: I thought the first goal was a great job of
- 40:21Speaker 9: getting inside, getting activating our d dolls, getting involved. Thought
- 40:25Speaker 9: tom Or made a great play coming off the wall, but.
- 40:29Speaker 11: Moving our feet.
- 40:31Speaker 9: You know, I thought the game at home, I just
- 40:34Speaker 9: felt there was a lot of you know, they got
- 40:37Speaker 9: in the way. There's you know, maybe I didn't like
- 40:39Speaker 9: some of the holding and the hooking, and but I
- 40:42Speaker 9: just told our guys tonight, keep your feet moving. We
- 40:44Speaker 9: got to keep our feet move We've got to get
- 40:46Speaker 9: inside and keep our feet movement. And I think it
- 40:49Speaker 9: was the biggest difference in the game, like shift after
- 40:53Speaker 9: shift that the compete on the puck was excellent. The
- 40:57Speaker 9: moving inside the offensive zone was led to three of
- 41:01Speaker 9: the goals.
- 41:02Speaker 1: After Benson made it three to one, it seemed like
- 41:04Speaker 1: the four check game that puck management just took up
- 41:07Speaker 1: to another level.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Is that just eighteen guys smelling the finish line with
- 41:11Speaker 2: ten minutes.
- 41:12Speaker 9: Ago, Well, you look at the Benson goals, a heck
- 41:15Speaker 9: of an example of what an effort by Dome on
- 41:19Speaker 9: a fifty to fifteen keep your feet moving and find
- 41:21Speaker 9: a Benny and a great shot by Benson finding the
- 41:26Speaker 9: top corner.
- 41:26Speaker 11: That was a big goal.
- 41:27Speaker 9: At the time of the game, I thought, I thought
- 41:29Speaker 9: we started the third period just a little bit nervous,
- 41:31Speaker 9: like we didn't handle a puck well.
- 41:34Speaker 11: And I thought, if we could, if we get a
- 41:36Speaker 11: couple opportunities to get the.
- 41:37Speaker 9: Third goal, we would loosen up, and I thought as
- 41:40Speaker 9: a period went on, we found our game.
- 41:43Speaker 12: What did your sense from the team this morning? You know,
- 41:46Speaker 12: you didn't skate, you know, you kind of had the
- 41:48Speaker 12: guys at the hotel Cage said, they all felt like
- 41:51Speaker 12: they were going to win this game. Like, what was
- 41:53Speaker 12: it just the vibe you were picking up from the
- 41:55Speaker 12: team this morning.
- 41:56Speaker 11: Yeah, part of it was.
- 42:00Speaker 9: I want him to come here only once today, just
- 42:02Speaker 9: to just to be ready to play and basically try
- 42:07Speaker 9: to keep them away from you guys.
- 42:11Speaker 11: You know, there's a lot of pressure inside.
- 42:14Speaker 9: A series, from game to game to you know, losing
- 42:17Speaker 9: the home game. Really felt we didn't need to come
- 42:20Speaker 9: here and have a morning skate or even make.
- 42:22Speaker 11: It optional and come here.
- 42:26Speaker 9: I actually think we surprised a few guys who were
- 42:28Speaker 9: They didn't even look at our itinerary and they thought
- 42:31Speaker 9: we were coming to the ring. So it's it's a
- 42:36Speaker 9: group that you know, hasn't been here. I wanted to
- 42:39Speaker 9: try to keep it relaxed. I told him we're going
- 42:41Speaker 9: to win the game. I said, we are going to
- 42:43Speaker 9: win the series. We're going to win the game. We've
- 42:47Speaker 9: got to we've got to do some things better. But
- 42:50Speaker 9: we're going to win the.
- 42:51Speaker 13: Game, Lindy, We're not such bad guys, just for the record, No, no.
- 42:55Speaker 11: You guys are you just you cause stress and pressure
- 42:59Speaker 11: for them.
- 43:00Speaker 13: So talk about stress and pressure on the road, you guys,
- 43:02Speaker 13: transit transition from a terrible road team to an excellent
- 43:06Speaker 13: road team this year.
- 43:07Speaker 11: But the playoffs or another animal?
- 43:09Speaker 13: What does it mean to you these guys continued their
- 43:11Speaker 13: play on the road and go three and oh in
- 43:12Speaker 13: the playoffs on the road in this first.
- 43:14Speaker 11: Series, Well, it meant everything in this series for sure.
- 43:17Speaker 9: You look at them coming into our building and winning
- 43:20Speaker 9: two games, us coming into their building and winning three games.
- 43:24Speaker 11: Really like to, you know, grab a hold of how.
- 43:28Speaker 9: Energized our building is and use that to an advantage
- 43:30Speaker 9: and win hockey games. Would have really liked this game
- 43:34Speaker 9: to have been in Buffalo. It wasn't, but it would
- 43:38Speaker 9: have been special to have this.
- 43:39Speaker 7: Game there, Lindy.
- 43:42Speaker 14: Alex Lyon can be overshadowed just to the euphoria of
- 43:45Speaker 14: the win, but just two huge saves early he was
- 43:48Speaker 14: your backbone, you know, as a series progress, Just what
- 43:52Speaker 14: can you say about his performance over these last you know,
- 43:56Speaker 14: four games played excellent?
- 44:00Speaker 11: You mentioned the two saves.
- 44:01Speaker 9: I thought the first period he made three or four
- 44:03Speaker 9: saves that were.
- 44:06Speaker 11: Game changers. You look at the breakaway.
- 44:09Speaker 9: I thought breakaway was borderline too many men on the
- 44:13Speaker 9: ice on their part, but we got caught and he
- 44:18Speaker 9: covered up for us.
- 44:19Speaker 11: Part of what we talked about this morning.
- 44:21Speaker 9: If there's going to be mistakes in the game, somebody's
- 44:24Speaker 9: gonna have to cover up for somebody. And I thought,
- 44:25Speaker 9: al he covered up some of our mistakes. You covered
- 44:28Speaker 9: up some big mistakes in the game. Our goaltenders have
- 44:32Speaker 9: done that all year. Force UPL, Elie Alex have have
- 44:38Speaker 9: done a great job. You look at the UPL getting
- 44:41Speaker 9: us some winning this series. It's been a year that
- 44:45Speaker 9: we've used them all and they've been there and they've
- 44:47Speaker 9: been big for us when a couple of mistakes led
- 44:50Speaker 9: to a goal.
- 44:51Speaker 11: But you had to be happy.
- 44:52Speaker 10: I mean, the building's going crazy, but you had to
- 44:54Speaker 10: like the response in your team after that. They didn't
- 44:57Speaker 10: seem to deturd at all, even though the places going
- 45:00Speaker 10: nuts in Boston had scored.
- 45:02Speaker 9: Yeah, you know, I think that that's part that you
- 45:04Speaker 9: have to deal with. When the home team scores, you've
- 45:08Speaker 9: got a building that's gonna go crazy.
- 45:11Speaker 11: You got to keep the game simple.
- 45:12Speaker 9: You've got to move it north, You've got to get
- 45:14Speaker 9: the pucking behind them. Those next couple shifts are really important,
- 45:20Speaker 9: especially when you're in the visiting team's building for sure.
- 45:23Speaker 9: And I thought our guys handled that well.
- 45:25Speaker 12: Well what do you think of the macavoy play at
- 45:28Speaker 12: the end of the game, and also just kind of
- 45:30Speaker 12: the way it seemed like you guys got under his
- 45:32Speaker 12: skin all series.
- 45:33Speaker 11: I think he was minus. Yeah, I don't know.
- 45:35Speaker 9: If we've got we got under his skin or not,
- 45:37Speaker 9: but I you know, you don't want to see the
- 45:40Speaker 9: last play of the game. You don't want to see
- 45:41Speaker 9: a guy take a chop like that as somebody else.
- 45:43Speaker 9: And I haven't looked at the play, you know, I
- 45:46Speaker 9: think he feels that Benson tripped him on the play
- 45:49Speaker 9: or took his feet out from underneath him.
- 45:53Speaker 11: You know.
- 45:54Speaker 9: Our thoughts on the end of the game was let's
- 45:57Speaker 9: just get through the end of the game.
- 45:58Speaker 11: We're not going to try to not going to try to,
- 46:00Speaker 11: or just get through the game again.
- 46:05Speaker 9: I'm just gonna say rawing motion, Charlie's a hell of
- 46:09Speaker 9: a player, cares about winning. Anybody would want Charlie on
- 46:13Speaker 9: his team.
- 46:16Speaker 11: Probably went a little too farther.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Lindy, you've been here before, you've had playoff wins.
- 46:20Speaker 4: But what does it mean for the guys that haven't
- 46:23Speaker 4: been able to experience this before.
- 46:26Speaker 9: Well, I think the only way you get experiences by winning.
- 46:29Speaker 9: And you know, I've had disappointing games in Boston going
- 46:34Speaker 9: way back when and Boston Bruins series, But to win
- 46:38Speaker 9: the series and coming here and win it in this building,
- 46:41Speaker 9: it's not an easy town to come in and play
- 46:43Speaker 9: and win hockey games. And got to give our guys
- 46:46Speaker 9: a lot of credit. You know, you look at losing
- 46:49Speaker 9: that home game and you give them momentum. If by
- 46:53Speaker 9: chance they would have won this game, the pressure would
- 46:55Speaker 9: have been back on us going back home.
- 46:59Speaker 1: There was Sabers head coach Lindy Rough on the weild
- 47:01Speaker 1: Bills out of repair post game, as always, Video courtesy
- 47:04Speaker 1: of x dot Com, Buffalo Sabers MSG, and the National
- 47:08Speaker 1: Hockey League. So again, all audio rights courtesy of the
- 47:11Speaker 1: Buffalo Sabers. Some thoughts that I had from some takeaways
- 47:17Speaker 1: I had from Lindy's thoughts there. He said, there's a
- 47:20Speaker 1: lot of pressure in a series. I wanted to keep
- 47:22Speaker 1: them relaxed coming in, talked about their itinerary not be
- 47:26Speaker 1: being big there and talked about, you know, just wanted
- 47:29Speaker 1: to keep them away from the media jokingly that they
- 47:32Speaker 1: put a lot of pressure on them sometimes in a
- 47:34Speaker 1: series like this. Would have loved for the game to
- 47:38Speaker 1: been in Buffalo and it would have been special if
- 47:41Speaker 1: they would have been able to close that on home ice. Obviously,
- 47:44Speaker 1: he said borderline too many men on them on the
- 47:47Speaker 1: middle stat breakaway, but talked about the Lion's ability to
- 47:51Speaker 1: come up with some big saves early on in that
- 47:53Speaker 1: contest and again they've been there for us all season
- 47:57Speaker 1: long and been great for us. Talking about the goaltending
- 48:00Speaker 1: with UPL getting a win earlier in the series and
- 48:02Speaker 1: as well alex Lyon here being able to finish it off.
- 48:06Speaker 1: He talked about the next few shifts after goals as
- 48:08Speaker 1: the visiting team being big. Obviously when the Bruns got
- 48:11Speaker 1: their first goal there, the Sabers came up with some
- 48:14Speaker 1: big shifts right after that and was able to kind
- 48:16Speaker 1: of you keep that momentum from spreading and being able
- 48:20Speaker 1: for the Bruns to tie that game up with it
- 48:22Speaker 1: only being a one goal game, so big shifts by
- 48:25Speaker 1: the visiting team, and then later when asked about the
- 48:29Speaker 1: Charlie McAvoy two hand chop on Zach Benson after Benson
- 48:33Speaker 1: sort of maybe tripped him going into the boards they
- 48:36Speaker 1: were late in the game, he said that Charlie is
- 48:38Speaker 1: a hell of a player, but probably went a bit
- 48:40Speaker 1: too far there. Talked about the raw motion and he
- 48:42Speaker 1: would love to have a guy like Charlie McAvoy and
- 48:44Speaker 1: his team, but thought he went a little too far
- 48:46Speaker 1: on that end. And then the only way you get
- 48:48Speaker 1: experience is winning, so talked about the team's lack of
- 48:51Speaker 1: playoff experience. Well, now they've got a series win under
- 48:54Speaker 1: their belts and see how they sort of take that
- 48:57Speaker 1: positive experience. And going through a six game series wasn't
- 49:00Speaker 1: like they just swept it through. They were in through
- 49:02Speaker 1: adversity in this series, especially in game one with the comeback,
- 49:05Speaker 1: losing Game two, losing Game five in overtime, So they
- 49:09Speaker 1: learned a lot in the six game series against a
- 49:12Speaker 1: solid brus Bruins team. And again with the Atlantic Division
- 49:15Speaker 1: being so strong this year, five teams from the Atlantic
- 49:18Speaker 1: were in the division in the playoffs in the Eastern Conference,
- 49:21Speaker 1: so the Burns were no slouch and they gave the
- 49:23Speaker 1: Sabers a lot to handle there for their first playoff
- 49:27Speaker 1: series in fourteen seasons. But again, when you have a
- 49:29Speaker 1: goaltender like Jeremy Swaman back there, anything can happen, and
- 49:32Speaker 1: the Sabers were able to get to him in the
- 49:34Speaker 1: series and take it by a four a four to
- 49:38Speaker 1: two final in the series there. So let's move forward
- 49:41Speaker 1: from Lindy Rouff and go to our Sabers feature player
- 49:45Speaker 1: interviews tonight plural because both Rasmus Dalen and Alex Tuck
- 49:48Speaker 1: were at the podium tonight brought to you by the
- 49:50Speaker 1: niagardentri Clinic creating natural smiles in the Niagara region for
- 49:54Speaker 1: over twenty five years. Here's what Captain Rasmus Dalen and
- 49:59Speaker 1: veteran forward Buffalo fan Alex Tuck had to say about
- 50:03Speaker 1: their team's performance and moving on to round two.
- 50:06Speaker 7: Really special. It feels like it's been a long time coming.
- 50:09Speaker 7: I know Dolls has been here a little bit longer
- 50:12Speaker 7: than me, but for me, it's been five long years
- 50:14Speaker 7: and waiting for something special to happen, and we're hoping
- 50:19Speaker 7: it's just a start.
- 50:24Speaker 15: That's questions for Asthmus.
- 50:25Speaker 8: This is your first playoff series, your team's first playoff
- 50:29Speaker 8: series win team together.
- 50:30Speaker 11: What was it like for you to kind of count.
- 50:32Speaker 8: Down and play in those final minutes and seconds of
- 50:35Speaker 8: this playoff win for you?
- 50:37Speaker 15: Yeah, it was it was unreal.
- 50:39Speaker 16: I I uh, I liked how we attacked this series
- 50:43Speaker 16: as a team, a lot of non experienced guys just
- 50:48Speaker 16: playing the way we did in all series. It's it's
- 50:51Speaker 16: pretty cool and then we have good things ahead. We
- 50:56Speaker 16: can learn a lot from this and but I but
- 50:59Speaker 16: I love what we did in this series. It was
- 51:02Speaker 16: so special.
- 51:04Speaker 11: Question for either of you.
- 51:05Speaker 14: Just Alex Lion, I mean he came in the series
- 51:08Speaker 14: and he was really your backbone too, early saves that
- 51:11Speaker 14: you know, kept kept you guys up. Just what could
- 51:14Speaker 14: you say about the way he's played this series and tonight?
- 51:18Speaker 7: Can't get much better than that. I mean, he's his
- 51:21Speaker 7: lights out. The only way they beat him to night
- 51:24Speaker 7: was uh just a great two on one back door
- 51:28Speaker 7: I mean passion act. He's he's a really good player.
- 51:32Speaker 7: So yeah, he was. He was lights out. He was
- 51:37Speaker 7: just in his zone, attacked every opportunity they threw out
- 51:41Speaker 7: him and Steady Eddie. It was awesome. I guess a
- 51:45Speaker 7: buch a lot of confidence when he got a guy
- 51:47Speaker 7: like that playing the way he was.
- 51:50Speaker 13: For both of you, guys, i'd like you to just
- 51:52Speaker 13: take us through the first goal. I mean, you guys
- 51:54Speaker 13: end up on your toes, they're on their heels.
- 51:57Speaker 15: Just what did you see? What did you see?
- 52:02Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 52:02Speaker 15: I kind of half joined the rush to me. I
- 52:05Speaker 15: made a good play.
- 52:06Speaker 16: It was in my feet, but I kind of knew
- 52:08Speaker 16: that I had someone back to her. And then I
- 52:10Speaker 16: just looked up and there was Tucky in the right
- 52:14Speaker 16: spot at the right.
- 52:15Speaker 15: Time, So it was just easy to give it to him.
- 52:18Speaker 15: How were you out? What did you feel?
- 52:21Speaker 7: H Yeah, like you said, great play by Tomer. Uh
- 52:24Speaker 7: Dolls dribbled it in his feet the sweet he is
- 52:27Speaker 7: about three different times, so suwer actually being helped.
- 52:32Speaker 15: Uh.
- 52:32Speaker 7: And then I mean someone asked me before, but he
- 52:38Speaker 7: I can't believe how well he plays with his head up,
- 52:42Speaker 7: even with the bobbling puck, gets control of it head up,
- 52:44Speaker 7: and I just try to find the open area because
- 52:46Speaker 7: he's gonna find you. Uh, one of the best in
- 52:49Speaker 7: the game to do it. I would lose the puck
- 52:52Speaker 7: a lot if I played like him. So yeah, just
- 52:54Speaker 7: really specially just trying to get open for Alex.
- 52:58Speaker 6: Uh, you guys lose game five, you have to come here,
- 53:01Speaker 6: there's two days off.
- 53:02Speaker 15: How how did you guys.
- 53:03Speaker 5: Manage the emotions sort of the time, Like, what was
- 53:06Speaker 5: the anticipation like for this game?
- 53:12Speaker 7: Yeah, no, it was.
- 53:14Speaker 15: It was obviously tough.
- 53:18Speaker 7: Being through a couple tough overtime games myself in the playoffs,
- 53:25Speaker 7: it always sucks, honestly.
- 53:27Speaker 11: So I thought we were really close to.
- 53:29Speaker 7: Finishing the series at home, and we would have loved
- 53:31Speaker 7: to do that, but we wanted to just come out
- 53:34Speaker 7: and just attack, just just have that mindset of just
- 53:38Speaker 7: playing our game, playing fast, getting talk some bodies in
- 53:43Speaker 7: the net, and just trying to win anyway we can.
- 53:47Speaker 15: What did you guys see.
- 53:49Speaker 12: On that third goal, Josh Dollan winning that race and
- 53:53Speaker 12: then you know, Benson finishing it. Maybe maybe your two
- 53:56Speaker 12: hardest working guys making the biggest play of the year.
- 53:59Speaker 15: Yeah. I I love how that line place.
- 54:02Speaker 16: You can see it throughout the whole serious they they
- 54:06Speaker 16: hunt pucks and there seeing the n front. They're getting
- 54:10Speaker 16: under the other team's skin, and they've been they've been
- 54:15Speaker 16: an unbelievable line for us, and today they scored a
- 54:19Speaker 16: couple of goals, So, uh, that's always good.
- 54:21Speaker 15: So yeah, it's it's they're they're a great.
- 54:25Speaker 7: Line, Alex. I guess to follow up on that back here,
- 54:29Speaker 7: when did you know Josh was gonna win that race
- 54:31Speaker 7: to the puck? And then obviously it happens pretty fast
- 54:34Speaker 7: after that. But what was the reaction for you guys
- 54:36Speaker 7: on the bench when you saw that play unfold? Yeah,
- 54:38Speaker 7: I mean right when it happened, I knew he had
- 54:40Speaker 7: a chance, and I knew he was taken off maybe
- 54:44Speaker 7: a little bit of a misqueue one on two going
- 54:49Speaker 7: into battles. Uh, it's funny, don't and I always talk
- 54:53Speaker 7: about takeaways and and uh, just winning the stick battles
- 54:57Speaker 7: and trying to get body positioned, and he made it
- 54:59Speaker 7: unbelieve will play to find it was ended up being
- 55:02Speaker 7: a Toronto, but Ben decided to take it for himself.
- 55:05Speaker 7: But yeah, it was I mean, Downer's he's a dog.
- 55:08Speaker 7: He just he just loves hunting the puck, make Creighton
- 55:12Speaker 7: turnovers and unbelievable player.
- 55:19Speaker 11: Alex.
- 55:19Speaker 12: You mentioned I think it was in January that you
- 55:21Speaker 12: guys weren't just trying to make the playoffs. You were
- 55:24Speaker 12: trying to win the Stanley Cup. To have a first
- 55:27Speaker 12: round series like this against a team like that that
- 55:29Speaker 12: that kind of plays the way they do, that's been
- 55:31Speaker 12: here before. Like, how validating is it for that idea
- 55:35Speaker 12: that you guys can go on a run here.
- 55:38Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean it's one step in the right direction,
- 55:40Speaker 7: that's it. Every team sets out in training camp to
- 55:46Speaker 7: try to be the best at the end of the
- 55:48Speaker 7: year and trying to hoist the Stanley Cup, and so
- 55:51Speaker 7: obviously that's a that's a goal for our team as well.
- 55:55Speaker 7: We're one round in the playoffs. In our eyes, we
- 55:58Speaker 7: haven't done anything yet. We're gonna enjoy this win, the
- 56:01Speaker 7: series win. We're gonna move on and be ready for
- 56:04Speaker 7: whoever we play next, because this whole we're hoping. It's
- 56:08Speaker 7: a long road to head for us and it's going
- 56:11Speaker 7: to be a grind each and every day, and so
- 56:14Speaker 7: we're gonna have to be ready.
- 56:18Speaker 1: There was captain Rasmus Dalen and forward Alex Tuck on
- 56:22Speaker 1: the Niagardentro Clinic player post game. As always, Audio and
- 56:27Speaker 1: video courtesy of x dot Com, Slash, Buffalo Sabers, MSG,
- 56:30Speaker 1: and the National Hockey League. All audio rights courtesy of
- 56:33Speaker 1: the Buffalo Sabers. Some quick thoughts from what they had
- 56:35Speaker 1: to say tonight can't get much better than that. He
- 56:38Speaker 1: was lights out, Alex Tuck on Alex Lyon just talking
- 56:42Speaker 1: about his goaltending. He talked about Sewer jokingly, Sewer helped
- 56:46Speaker 1: helped out with the the pucks in his feet, talking
- 56:48Speaker 1: about Rasmus Doleen. I was able to get that puck
- 56:51Speaker 1: in his feet and make the play for that opening goal.
- 56:55Speaker 1: He talked about Dalen, but he's gonna find you. You
- 56:57Speaker 1: just try to get open and gave his praise to
- 57:00Speaker 1: captain there and said he was one of the best
- 57:02Speaker 1: in all the National Hockey League and plays doesn't understand
- 57:05Speaker 1: how he can play so well with his head up
- 57:07Speaker 1: and not even looking down at what he's doing with
- 57:09Speaker 1: the puck. He talked about just attacking, playing fast. It's
- 57:13Speaker 1: just one step in the right direction.
- 57:15Speaker 3: That's it.
- 57:15Speaker 1: We haven't done anything yet and we're hoping for a
- 57:18Speaker 1: lot more going forward. So there was Alex Tuck and
- 57:21Speaker 1: Rasmus Dallin's postgame thoughts following the elimination of the Boston
- 57:27Speaker 1: Bruins in Game six of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, winning
- 57:29Speaker 1: it by a four to one final before I get
- 57:32Speaker 1: out of here tonight. Thank you everybody again for tuning
- 57:34Speaker 1: in on the episode. Keith Perry says, hope Austlin and
- 57:38Speaker 1: Kerrick can play at some point, Yes, absolutely, Sam Kerrick
- 57:41Speaker 1: would be a massive return for the Sabers for that
- 57:43Speaker 1: fourth line center role. And Noah Austland had been looked
- 57:46Speaker 1: so good in his first few games coming back in
- 57:50Speaker 1: the series after missing fourteen games between the regular season
- 57:55Speaker 1: and they started the playoff series and played so well
- 57:58Speaker 1: in those few games that he had, so hopefull he's
- 58:00Speaker 1: able to come back later on here. But again at
- 58:03Speaker 1: the twelve thirty mark, appreciate everybody sticking around with us
- 58:06Speaker 1: on the video version on YouTube. So as always I'm
- 58:09Speaker 1: gonna just quickly give my player the game, but I
- 58:12Speaker 1: want to bring up the player box score here because
- 58:16Speaker 1: I think it's important to mention and and look at
- 58:19Speaker 1: what the Sabers.
- 58:20Speaker 3: Were able to do tonight.
- 58:22Speaker 1: And there we go, so you guys can see it
- 58:25Speaker 1: a little bit there on the video version for you
- 58:27Speaker 1: guys listening and audio also read it off. Benson was
- 58:30Speaker 1: a plus two tonight, one goal, one assist. He also
- 58:32Speaker 1: had a block, a hit, did a lot through a
- 58:35Speaker 1: few penalties as well. Norris was a plus two in
- 58:38Speaker 1: this game. Krebs was a plus two in the game.
- 58:41Speaker 1: Thompson was a plus two in the game with two assists.
- 58:43Speaker 1: Talk was a plus two with a goal. Doan was
- 58:45Speaker 1: a plus two with an assist in the game. He
- 58:47Speaker 1: also led the.
- 58:47Speaker 3: Sabers forwards with five shots on net did Josh Stone.
- 58:50Speaker 1: He also had three hits. Malenstein laid five hits. Norris
- 58:54Speaker 1: also laid five hits. For a guy that has gone
- 58:56Speaker 1: through his injury troubles, He's definitely back in the lineup
- 58:59Speaker 1: with with.
- 59:00Speaker 3: A force for the Sabers and.
- 59:02Speaker 1: You hope that he can remain as a valuable piece
- 59:04Speaker 1: on the ice bowm Biron was a plus one tonight
- 59:07Speaker 1: three blocks as well on the defensive side for Buffalo.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Again.
- 59:11Speaker 1: You saw it when I showed the statistics from the
- 59:13Speaker 1: entire series earlier on in the episode Offensively a defensively
- 59:16Speaker 1: bow and Byron has been very good. Connor Timmons is
- 59:19Speaker 1: also a plus one tonight. He logged eighteen minutes and
- 59:23Speaker 1: thirty nine seconds of ice time, a little bit more
- 59:24Speaker 1: than he's used to there. Kessel Ring only four minutes
- 59:28Speaker 1: and twenty five seconds for him of ice time tonight,
- 59:31Speaker 1: Samuelson played over twenty two minutes again, which is as
- 59:35Speaker 1: big for him he had. The goal was a plus
- 59:37Speaker 1: two two blocks, two hits, two shots solid a stat.
- 59:41Speaker 3: Line for Mattia Samison.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Tonight, Dollin led the defensive side in time on ice
- 59:46Speaker 1: twenty three minutes forty nine seconds. He also had five
- 59:49Speaker 1: shots on net two blocks in a hit as well.
- 59:53Speaker 1: Owen Power didn't have any statistics to say, but he
- 59:57Speaker 1: had twenty seven shifts, was only fourth on the defensive
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: side for sabers shifts there, and he logged twenty one
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: minutes and twenty four seconds of ice time. Dallin had
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: thirty three shifts, Byronim at thirty, Samerson at thirty, Power
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: at twenty seven, Timmins with twenty eight, and then kessel
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Ring with the five shifts for him as well obviously
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Logan Stanley hopefully he'll be back for the next series
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: there because him and Timmins have been so good on
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: that third pair throughout this series on the forward side,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: leading in the ice time with Tage Thompson twenty one
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: minutes fifty four seconds, Tuck at twenty thirty six, and
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: I don't think anyone else was over twenty minutes for
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: the Sabers tonight on the forward side, so uh Tuck
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: and Thompson leading the way there as well. With the
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: power play minutes just again over three for the Savers
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: on the the man advantage, but technically they were over
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: four but they.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: Really didn't do anything in the last minute.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: They get the five minute major penalty power play for
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Charlie McAvoy doing what he did, so the Sabers advance
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: to Round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Round two
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: is going to begin Wednesday. I think Tuesday would be unlikely,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: I think at this point, but with Game seven of
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Montreal and Tampa Bay taking place on Sunday, they need
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: at least the one day off, So we'll see if
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: Game one Round two a Key Bank Center is going
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: to be Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm sure it's going to
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: be rocking down there in downtown Buffalo. Just hopefully they
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: can get something going for those away games as well.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: And as we continue our coverage here and the network,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: thank you for everybody sticking with us enthusiastically, as this
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: is the longest our show has ever gone in the
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: six years we've been doing this, the deepest we've ever
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: gone as well, and with me trying to juggle the
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: OHL playoffs as well, bear with us here doing what
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I can for you guys here on the show. A
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: new I guess it's a new time for everybody being
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: able to adjust to the Savers being in the playoffs
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: and not only being in the playoffs but looking like
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: they're going to go on a decent run here. So
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: as always, thank it everybody who tuned in on a
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: video version, make sure to hit like it described, smash
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: that bellance the update with all of our video coverage

- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Instagram and TikTok by searching the armchaired GM sports that
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: were forever short reels and content. As always, Saber Semantics
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: is probably brought to by Global Pet Foods, where pets
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: are unannihially part of the fame I, meaning they are
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: three Great Niagara Region locations in Niagara Falls, Fon Hill

- 1:02:36Speaker 1: here on the Armchair GM Sports Network.
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: So the Buffalo Sabers four.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: The Boston Bruins won in game five, Game six excuse
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: me of the Stanley Cup Playoffs again, they eliminate the
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Bruins in six games. Can believe it took me all
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: this way to the end of the episode to realize
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: I had the wrong game on there.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: But that's okay.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: Thank you everybody tuned in late here on this Friday,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: going into your Saturday and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: So for my co host Austin Broad who's not here tonight,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: my name is Brandon Capudo. Again, this has been another
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: episode of Saber Semantics right here on the Armchair GM
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Sports Network. The Buffalo Sabers win their first playoff series
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: since two thousand and seven. Advanced to the second round
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: of the playoffs to host either the Tampa Bay Lightning
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: or the Montreal Canadians. Final score tonight Game six, the
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Boston Bruins won the Buffalo Sabers four, taking all three
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: games on the road. Thank you everybody tuned in tonight,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: have yourself a great weekend. We'll talk to you again
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: next week when the Sabers Round two begins. Here in
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: the Stanley Cup Playoffs
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: You're listening to the Armchair GM Sports Network.
