- 0:00You know what it is?
- 0:01That's right.
- 0:02It's time to talk money with your money nerd and financial coach.
- 0:06Now tighten those purse strings and open those ears.
- 0:09It's the Money Talk with Tiff podcast.
- 0:15Tiffany's take right here on the Money Talk with Tiff podcast.
- 0:19So if you would like your questions answered on the podcast, go to www.moneytalkwithtift.com Ask Tiffany and I'll be more than happy to answer.
- 0:31But today I'm doing something a little different.
- 0:33I am talking about my book launch because my book just came out on Tuesday.
- 0:40Yay.
- 0:44Oh my gosh.
- 0:45I don't believe we have gotten here.
- 0:48I didn't get a chance to record on lunch day because real life was happening.
- 0:54You know, I feel like people have this thing about, oh, when you're writing a book, you know, you're uninterrupted and all this stuff.
- 1:03When you're doing your launch, you're toasting champagne, all that stuff.
- 1:07Yeah, no, actually haven't even touched my book yet, which I'll get to a little later.
- 1:14But I was managing kids, coordinating messages.
- 1:16People was blowing me up about how they were getting their books and things, handling logistics, still trying to get pre order bonuses and stuff out, staring at screens, still trying to work like it was a whole real life
- 1:29happening, you know, even though I was traditionally published.
- 1:35We don't have lunch parties and ballrooms and stuff, unless that's what you do.
- 1:40You know what I'm saying?
- 1:42But just how my life is set up right now, I don't have the time to do that.
- 1:48It happened while I was sitting at my desk and social media was blowing up and everything and tracking a shipment.
- 1:57So let's get into that real quick.
- 1:59So my book.
- 2:02So I still have yet to touch my own books, which sounds really weird, but because I'm here in Jamaica, they're actually stuck in customs right now.
- 2:13And I have to wait for Wiley to give me some stuff so that way I can get it cleared and all this, that or the other.
- 2:21So I haven't even touched my own books and now we are two days post launch, which is crazy.
- 2:30But it's all good.
- 2:31Because what makes me happy is I'm seeing all of these books in other people's hands and people are even saying they already on chapter seven.
- 2:43I'm like, dang.
- 2:44Like, I knew it was an easy read, but people are really diving into it.
- 2:49And some of the initial feedback I got was that it was a really easy read.
- 2:54Eloquently written, looks Practical, whatever, whatever.
- 2:59So I will say that that is what's given me solace, even though I have not touched my own book.
- 3:05Also, I woke up to see that money moves and mindset shifts cracked the top 100 on Amazon in three categories.
- 3:14So right now we're number 32 in income inequality, number 87, economics, and number 96 in wealth management.
- 3:23And overall, out of millions of books that's on amaz, I am 79,000 right now.
- 3:30Around 79,000.
- 3:32So I am so super excited.
- 3:34And thank you all so, so, so, so much for purchasing and just supporting in every way that you can this book.
- 3:44And it hit me emotionally because it just feels like a full circle moment.
- 3:51Like I went from a teen mom reading heavy Wiley business textbooks late at night while doing my trying to survive and then going on to masters still as a single parent trying to survive.
- 4:05And now I have my own 384 page widely hardcover, ranked in the economic section.
- 4:13As a black woman, like, I don't think, like, the gravity of that is just phenomenal.
- 4:20And that's one thing that I have been trying to hold back tears on.
- 4:25And on top of that, two years almost to the day, is when my article had released on CNBC about me moving to Jamaica two years ago, almost to the day of my book release, which is crazy as well.
- 4:42And so it just.
- 4:43All of these things just hitting this week, like, wow, like, I've come a long, long, long, long way.
- 4:50You know, numbers are exciting and rank is just an algorithm.
- 4:55But what really matters are all the texts and stuff that I'm getting from readers saying that they're already almost done with the book or, you know, they've been listening or whatever and having those concepts clicking or seeing photos
- 5:11of the book.
- 5:12People been sending me videos, pictures, unboxings, all this stuff like that is the stuff that really matters in all of this.
- 5:20And again, I'm just forever grateful now, I being that my books are stuck.
- 5:27Like, I had people locally in Jamaica want a book, and having to say, well, y', all, I actually don't have no copies is interesting.
- 5:38Even somebody said to me, he was like, I thought it was your book.
- 5:41I'm like, it is my book, but it's okay.
- 5:45I know that I will get them eventually.
- 5:49And for me, I'm like, I can't sit here and write a book and not practice what I preach.
- 5:56Like, in the book, I talk about the ROI of peace and managing your cortisol and not burning down your mental health while trying to deal with your money.
- 6:06So I'm not going to burn my own mental health down trying to force a launch to look effortless.
- 6:13It's definitely not effortless.
- 6:15And I'm giving you all the real scoop here on the podcast because you all have been with me through everything.
- 6:22We're 400 plus episodes.
- 6:24And shout out to you if you have been with the podcast for that long, since day one, that's amazing even if you haven't been here since day one.
- 6:34Thank you so much for tuning in.
- 6:36I just had to learn this week to just breathe, let the delays happen, let life happen, and just trust the process, like everything is going to work out.
- 6:48And so that's, that's just where I've been this week.
- 6:52Now also, I want to talk about why I even wrote this book and what this book was for.
- 6:58So most personal finance books and things are built on shame.
- 7:03It's built on restriction, punishment.
- 7:06You know, skip your coffee, starve your lifestyle, feel guilty if you buy some shoes, you know what I'm saying?
- 7:12I have learned as a financial counselor that that way does not work.
- 7:18I used to be on that, you know, the Dave Ramsey thing.
- 7:22I used to listen to them all day, every day.
- 7:25But I realized that that is just not a sustainable way to live.
- 7:32And also, you know, in dealing with death, you know, my grandma passed away back in 2022 and that was a big blow to me.
- 7:41That was like my mom, she pretty much raised me.
- 7:44I'm like, we could leave this earth tomorrow and if we're sitting here starving our life today trying to accumulate all this money or do all these, you know, doing all of that stuff, not saying that that stuff isn't
- 8:01important if it's important to you, but I feel like there has to be a balance.
- 8:06You know, it's okay to pay off debt and, you know, work on your financial goals, but you also need to enjoy your life while you have it because you never know when your time is going to come.
- 8:20So I made this book as like an operational manual for peace, because peace is infinitely important to me.
- 8:29So stopping your financial panic with the thousand dollar cortisol buffer, automating your cash flow with the three bucket system, setting up your legacy binder, writing legacy letters to whoever you want to leave a legacy to.
- 8:43This is why I wrote the book, because I want it to be different and tackle both the practical things that you need to know and strateg with the mental game that you're going to have to play on this
- 8:56road.
- 8:57Like, I cannot also stress that enough that money is a Mental game.
- 9:04And that's also a full circle moment, because when I first started the blog Back in 2017, my very first blog article was, money is an emotional Thing.
- 9:17And I talked about how money is more of a mental game.
- 9:21And now I have a book all.
- 9:24All these years later.
- 9:25Dang, 2017.
- 9:27That means, wow, almost 10 years ago.
- 9:33Almost 10 years ago, I wrote that article, and now, full circle, I have a whole book about it, you know, So I just feel like this has culminated into this moment, and it has been, oh, such a journey.
- 9:49Such a journey.
- 9:51Also, I want to mention, too, because you all haven't heard it on the podcast.
- 9:54If you follow me on social media, you may have been keeping up, but all formats are out for the book as well.
- 10:01So if you have an excuse.
- 10:03Oh, I don't have time to sit down and read a physical book.
- 10:06Guess what?
- 10:07Audible's there.
- 10:08We got an audiobook, y'.
- 10:09All.
- 10:09Okay.
- 10:10I only read digital Kindle's there.
- 10:13Okay, so we got hardcover, Kindle, and Audible.
- 10:17All of those are live right now.
- 10:20So you can dig in however, get in however you fit in.
- 10:25Okay.
- 10:26Because the information is there and it's ready for you.
- 10:31I'm just using this episode to just sit and reflect on the journey, share with you some of the journey and, you know, just talk about some of the stuff that I had to go through in this process.
- 10:45And also that I talk about in the book.
- 10:47And the book, I mean, I literally take you first chapter, first line is me sitting in the doctor's office being nervous as a teen parent finding out that I was pregnant.
- 11:00And then the book just keeps going from there until it gets to one of the last chapters is on expatting and my expat journey and how you, too, can be an expats.
- 11:12I know a lot of y' all are ready to get out of the US Which I completely understand.
- 11:16And so I threw that in the book as well.
- 11:18So it takes you through all the business stuff, all the money stuff, from the trying to survive to mostly thriving, you know what I mean?
- 11:28And.
- 11:29And I ground it in real life stuff, because things are not all gun drops and lollipops, y'.
- 11:36All, Even as someone that does this for a living and helps people do this all day, every day.
- 11:42I looked at my stats the other day, and I've helped over a hundred people one on one with financial counseling and thousands of others just in my podcast, my blog, social media, all that stuff.
- 11:59So I'm like, this is something that I do all the time.
- 12:02I Live and breathe it.
- 12:04And I still have those moments where I have credit card debt or I have student loans, I have a mortgage payment I can't pay.
- 12:15I have, you know, being hand to mouth, you know, being a business owner where I have a great month one month and then the next month there's no money coming in.
- 12:26So I understand all of that firsthand experience and that's the type of stuff that I put in the book too.
- 12:34So I just highly recommend if you are, it really doesn't matter if you are currently struggling or you're currently looking to invest, leave a legacy, whatever I love literally hit on everything, every single thing in the book.
- 12:50And the mindset shifts that have to happen in whatever stage you're in.
- 12:55So anyway, I'll stop rambling and going on and on and on.
- 13:00But I do highly recommend that you grab your copy on whatever format fits your life.
- 13:06At moneytalkwithtea.com forward/ moves and if you've already bought it, you already have your copy still.
- 13:14Go to moneytalkwitht.com forward/makes and unlock the Resource Vault.
- 13:19If you have your copy, you'll see some QR codes in there.
- 13:22It'll lead to that page.
- 13:24Put in your email, you'll get the Resource Vault.
- 13:27And let me tell you, I sat there and personally made over 15 different tools and curated lots of different resources to coincide with this book.
- 13:40So that way you're not just stuck reading with nothing to implement.
- 13:45You have everything you need to implement in the vault.
- 13:48So like I made this so easy for everyone and in the book it's kind of like a workbook as well.
- 13:57I have a lot of different things in there.
- 13:59I have lots of different appendices, I have templates for stuff, I have things that you fill out, money, scripts, all this stuff that's in the book.
- 14:11It's literally a work as you go type read.
- 14:15You get what I'm saying?
- 14:16And also I will say even if money is tight right now and you can't buy the book in whatever format, then for free.
- 14:25If you want to support, all you have to do is call or visit your local library or local bookstores and request Money Moves and Mindset Shifts by Tiffany Grant.
- 14:35That is helpful as well.
- 14:37If I can get as on as many shelves as possible, that would be amazing because I feel like this is a book that everyone needs to have.
- 14:45And I'm not just saying that because I wrote it.
- 14:49I'm saying that because I truly believe in it.
- 14:51And there's a lot of people that believe in it already as well, so definitely pick that up.
- 14:58Also, I will say if you all work for a university, have a church group, whatever the case may be, I am able to get discounts for bulk orders.
- 15:10So just reach out to me at tiffanyoney talk with t.com that's my email and I'll be more than happy to work that through with you.
- 15:20Luckily not luckily, thankfully, because I thank God for everything that I do.
- 15:27Institutions have been reaching out and ordering books and so I've seen Wiley give like 40% off on different things.
- 15:35And also, oh, one more thing that happened that I'm super proud of and super excited about is that once somebody that has been following me for some time, they wanted to get some books in the hands because they
- 15:49have a tie to Jamaica.
- 15:51They wanted to get books in the hands of Jamaicans who are living abroad in the U.S.
- 15:56or new to the U.S.
- 15:58and need help navigating the U.S.
- 16:00financial system.
- 16:01This book is perfect for that.
- 16:03And so they sponsored about 20 something odd copies that are going to the Jamaican association of Greensboro.
- 16:12So that way they can get those in the hands of Jamaicans already living abroad or coming abroad.
- 16:19So I thought that was a fantastic way and a very heartfelt way to get these books in the hands of people that may need it, that may not know that it even exists.
- 16:32So thank you so much for listening to the podcast.
- 16:37You stuck with me through over 400 plus episodes.
- 16:41I think this one is like 416 or something like that.
- 16:44I lose count, but I know it's up there.
- 16:47Thank you all so much for tuning in with me.
- 16:50I'm super excited about where everything is going and I look forward to creating more content.
- 16:59That's another thing, I've been updating a lot of the blog posts, so if you haven't checked out the blog recently, please go over there and check it out.
- 17:09Because a lot of my older blog posts, which I'll admit looking back, they needed some help.
- 17:17So I've been updating a lot of blog posts.
- 17:20I think between August and September I updated over 30 to 40 blog posts.
- 17:26So definitely go over there, check those out.
- 17:30It's real life guides for real life things that you may need help with.
- 17:35And also I just want to close with the reminder that you need to protect your peace over everything and and I look forward to being in your earbuds next week.
- 17:45Thank you so much.
- 17:46Bye.
