- 0:55Speaker 3: A happy Holidays to you and yours ever Offitch You's
- 0:58Speaker 3: got TV this evening, Glad to have you with us.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Al you g gotta win.
- 1:01Speaker 3: In San Jose as far as a crack and our concern,
- 1:04Speaker 3: and that gets them out of a one nine to
- 1:06Speaker 3: one slide where a win like that felt like it
- 1:08Speaker 3: was bend but don't break territory.
- 1:10Speaker 4: This team needs wins quick right now.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Seven point gap right now in the Western conversator to
- 1:15Speaker 3: the cut lines. And so you have three of the
- 1:16Speaker 3: TXT four games against teams.
- 1:18Speaker 4: In your own division. The time is now to make
- 1:20Speaker 4: up ground.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah, teams in your own division.
- 1:22Speaker 5: Plus you've got games in hand as well, so what
- 1:24Speaker 5: you do with those games could make a big difference
- 1:27Speaker 5: in the standings. You've got to get wins here before
- 1:29Speaker 5: the Christmas break, and you got to keep it going afterwards.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Let's talk about the cracking right now, thirteen fourteen and six.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Their record thirty two points, and they're back in what
- 1:37Speaker 3: has been a great place to play for them, five
- 1:39Speaker 3: to one and one all time road record here in
- 1:42Speaker 3: the OC, third best point percentage of any road.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Venue for them. They are getting their offense here from
- 1:48Speaker 4: their defense.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Example of that goals from Ryan Lynn Gren Riker Evans
- 1:52Speaker 3: and that comeback win against San Jose Chandler Stevenson on
- 1:55Speaker 3: a heater right now, eight game points streak, but tonight
- 1:57Speaker 3: they're gonna have to cope with the big loss of
- 1:59Speaker 3: Brandon Manto on the back end out four weeks after
- 2:02Speaker 3: hand surgery.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I know, you lose another leader on the ice,
- 2:05Speaker 5: in in the locker room, and it has an effect.
- 2:07Speaker 5: It puts more responsibility on Jordan every the captain's shoulders
- 2:10Speaker 5: that he's got to carry. When you don't have those
- 2:12Speaker 5: leaders in the room. On the ice, you lose a
- 2:14Speaker 5: lot of offense. Brandon Montour jumps into the rushes, he's
- 2:17Speaker 5: got a big, heavy shot.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Others will be called upon to fill that gap.
- 2:21Speaker 4: How do you fill that gap?
- 2:22Speaker 1: Additionally, back in.
- 2:23Speaker 3: The room even with him out and Everly and others
- 2:26Speaker 3: also factoring in.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Well, it's an opportunity, right, You've got, you know, three different.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Levels of players. You've got the youngster that you made
- 2:33Speaker 5: the team last.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Year or so.
- 2:35Speaker 5: You've got the older gentleman like Everly, You've got the
- 2:38Speaker 5: guys that are coming up, and I think Maddy e
- 2:40Speaker 5: Veneers is a great example of one of those guys.
- 2:42Speaker 5: It's an opportunity for him to step into that role
- 2:45Speaker 5: a little bit and for guys to look to him
- 2:47Speaker 5: to look for that leadership.
- 2:48Speaker 3: We'll talk about the Ducks right now, twenty one thirteen
- 2:51Speaker 3: and two forty four points on the season. They are
- 2:53Speaker 3: rolling right now, first place in the Pacific Division. They
- 2:57Speaker 3: are young, they are talented, they have plenty of higher power,
- 3:00Speaker 3: They love to push the pace, and as of right now,
- 3:03Speaker 3: third best offense in the league averaging three point four
- 3:06Speaker 3: goals a game.
- 3:06Speaker 4: But they're also going to go through a big loss
- 3:08Speaker 4: here for tonight.
- 3:09Speaker 3: No Leo Carlson day to day lower body injury he's
- 3:12Speaker 3: suffered against the Blue Jackets.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Two days ago.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Yeah, second on the team in goals right now at seventeen,
- 3:17Speaker 5: but he leads a team with forty one points.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Not happening in the lineup.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Definitely has an impact offensively, but again, just like with
- 3:23Speaker 5: the Krack and others will be called upon counter. Gotier
- 3:26Speaker 5: has eighteen goals thirty six assists, Troy Terry twenty.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Five is sist.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Those guys will be expected to step their games up
- 3:32Speaker 5: until that gap.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Kracking are one and one right now on this four
- 3:35Speaker 3: game trip, looking to go two to zero in the
- 3:37Speaker 3: season series against the Dugs, and with this matchup, it's
- 3:40Speaker 3: gonna get busy. Tonight begins back to back and they'll
- 3:43Speaker 3: have at least one of these in each of the
- 3:46Speaker 3: next four weeks. Enjoy your hockey, You're gonna get plenty
- 3:49Speaker 3: of it and reserves. Jordan z and X He's back

- 7:23Speaker 9: thirteen and two good for first place in the Pacific
- 7:26Speaker 9: Division with forty four points. It's time for one of
- 7:29Speaker 9: the odds, brought to you by the Evergreen Council on

- 7:34Speaker 9: one and a half and the over under is six

- 7:52Speaker 9: Wa dot org. Well, let's say back to Saturday tonight
- 7:55Speaker 9: where the Kraken we're desperate to stop their skid, and
- 7:58Speaker 9: it was an unlikely hero that stepped up when Seattle
- 8:01Speaker 9: needed him the most.
- 8:02Speaker 10: Landrett left Circley shot Stoos Ryan Lendrand from the left
- 8:09Speaker 10: circle may have deflected in, but.
- 8:12Speaker 1: The Seattle kracking back on top. It's a three to
- 8:15Speaker 1: two cracking lead.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Well, if this goes down as Lingeran's goal, it'll be
- 8:18Speaker 5: his first of the season. It was a great shot
- 8:20Speaker 5: by him as he waited for the screen going to
- 8:22Speaker 5: the front of the net. I believe it was Tolvenin
- 8:24Speaker 5: heading towards the front. It may have gone off of him.
- 8:26Speaker 5: We're having a look here. It didn't redirect, but it
- 8:29Speaker 5: could have gone off of a Shark player as well.
- 8:31Speaker 9: It would end up as Ryan Lenman's goal, and that
- 8:33Speaker 9: clutch goal in San Jose to help the Seattle crack
- 8:36Speaker 9: and get back to winning ways was a huge moment
- 8:40Speaker 9: for Seattle, who prior to that game had one win
- 8:42Speaker 9: in their last eleven games, so hopefully a sign of
- 8:45Speaker 9: more positive results to come for the Kraken. Looking like
- 8:49Speaker 9: it will be Philip Krubauer tonight for his first start
- 8:51Speaker 9: since December sixteenth versus Colorado. He's four to three to
- 8:54Speaker 9: one on the season so far with a nine hundred
- 8:57Speaker 9: and eight percentage and a two point seven eight goal
- 8:59Speaker 9: again against average, so he's been holding it down admirably
- 9:02Speaker 9: in that second goaltender role and has earned more playing time,
- 9:05Speaker 9: which comes tonight against the Ducks. Today's matchup second and
- 9:09Speaker 9: four against the Ducks this season for Seattle. The Kraken
- 9:12Speaker 9: won their first matchup in the season opener, and the
- 9:15Speaker 9: Cracking are ten to four and one all time against Anheims,
- 9:18Speaker 9: so hopefully that trend continues this evening against one of
- 9:21Speaker 9: the best teams in the Western Conference. Let's take a
- 9:23Speaker 9: look at our Craken storylines. We're still waiting to see
- 9:26Speaker 9: the full effect from the Mason marchmt trade that went
- 9:29Speaker 9: down late Friday night and what the fallout will be
- 9:32Speaker 9: for the rest of the lineup. And in case you
- 9:33Speaker 9: missed it, Mason Marchmidt was Delta Columbus in exchange for
- 9:37Speaker 9: a second round pick and a fourth round pick. What
- 9:39Speaker 9: does that mean? An increased role in reliance on guys
- 9:41Speaker 9: like Coppocaco, Elie Tolvenen and Frederick Gaudreau. It might also
- 9:45Speaker 9: mean more ice times for young guys like Yanni Newman
- 9:48Speaker 9: and Shane Wright. The Kraken aren't exactly stockpiled with healthy
- 9:51Speaker 9: wingers right now with both Jared McCann aid and Jane
- 9:54Speaker 9: Schwartz injured, so it's a great opportunity for the younger
- 9:56Speaker 9: guys to step up number two. It's been a tale
- 9:59Speaker 9: of two parts of the season for Seattle. The first
- 10:01Speaker 9: twenty one games, they were eleven five and five, scoring
- 10:04Speaker 9: two point seven goals per game and allowing two point eight,
- 10:06Speaker 9: and the last twelve they're two to nine and one,
- 10:08Speaker 9: scoring only two point two goals per game and allowing
- 10:12Speaker 9: three point eight. So hopefully the Crack and tonight the
- 10:15Speaker 9: eighth place Crack can take on the first place Stocks
- 10:17Speaker 9: with a massive opportunity to show that they are more
- 10:19Speaker 9: like the team we saw in the first twenty one
- 10:21Speaker 9: games of the season and not the last twelve. News
- 10:24Speaker 9: came out today the defenseman Brandon Montour will be out
- 10:27Speaker 9: approximately four weeks after undergoing successful hand surgery, a big
- 10:31Speaker 9: loss on the Crack and Blue line, so once again
- 10:33Speaker 9: Seattle will be looking at a guy like Ryker Evans
- 10:35Speaker 9: to help fill the void until his return. With that,
- 10:38Speaker 9: let's hear more from Brandon Montour's partner, Ryan lind Grin
- 10:42Speaker 9: as he talks about the news that his partner will
- 10:44Speaker 9: be out for some time and what kind of impact
- 10:46Speaker 9: it has on the team.
- 10:47Speaker 11: Yeah, obviously a tough loss, so as at anti incredible player,
- 10:52Speaker 11: you know, a great team guy too, So yeah, we
- 10:55Speaker 11: got to have guys step up. You know, We've dealt
- 10:57Speaker 11: with injuries throughout the year and we've had that mentality
- 11:01Speaker 11: of the next guy up, and that's the case again
- 11:04Speaker 11: for sure.
- 11:04Speaker 9: Ryan Lindgren also talked about what it will be like
- 11:07Speaker 9: going against a high powered offense like Anaheim's and how
- 11:09Speaker 9: the Cracking can adjust defensively.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of very high skilled guys, you know.
- 11:16Speaker 11: I think earlier Lane was saying that they're I think
- 11:19Speaker 11: third in the league right now for goals for so,
- 11:22Speaker 11: you know, a team that knows how to put the
- 11:23Speaker 11: puck in the net. And yeah, it's going to be
- 11:26Speaker 11: a good challenge for us. And like you said, they're
- 11:28Speaker 11: the top team the division right now. So it's a
- 11:30Speaker 11: good challenge and a good test for us, and you know,
- 11:33Speaker 11: we need to be at our best tonight.
- 11:35Speaker 9: Good opportunity for the Cracking tonight to gain some ground
- 11:38Speaker 9: in the Pacific Division. Now, let's take a look at
- 11:41Speaker 9: that injury report, and it is a doozy. As mentioned before,
- 11:44Speaker 9: Brandon montsur just underwent successful hand surgery and will be
- 11:48Speaker 9: approximately out for four weeks. He joins Jayden Schwartz and
- 11:52Speaker 9: Matt Murray on IR, with Jared mccannon out week to
- 11:55Speaker 9: week with a lower body injury. In Berkeley, Catten also
- 11:58Speaker 9: out week to leak with an upper body injury. Much
- 12:00Speaker 9: more to come on the pregame show served up by
- 12:02Speaker 9: COR's Light, and coming up next, we'll take a look
- 12:04Speaker 9: at the ducks you're listening to the Global Credit Union
- 12:07Speaker 9: Kraken Audio Network.

- 14:28Speaker 9: and al Kiniski will have your play by play action
- 14:31Speaker 9: for the kracking against the Ducks. Now time for a
- 14:33Speaker 9: look at the Anaheim Ducks and we go back to
- 14:35Speaker 9: Saturday night where the Ducks we're trying to stop a
- 14:37Speaker 9: mini two game skid and left it late to get
- 14:40Speaker 9: the game winner at home.
- 14:41Speaker 10: Strom out of the corner, My chance for Betronto kudas pinches.
- 14:47Speaker 9: Now it's grandling out of the corner as a man.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Coming off the pot.
- 14:50Speaker 1: You cap Stars, fuck your call. Put three twenty nine
- 14:54Speaker 1: to pull.
- 14:55Speaker 9: That's the voice of John Alers on the call for
- 14:57Speaker 9: Anaheim as Pava Minchikov scored the game winner for Anaheim
- 15:00Speaker 9: to get the win at home versus Columbus on Saturday.
- 15:04Speaker 9: Anaheim has been one of the surprising teams in the
- 15:06Speaker 9: early portion of the season, sitting at first place in
- 15:09Speaker 9: the Pacific Division. The Ducks have always had the talent,
- 15:12Speaker 9: but they made a switch behind the bench this season,
- 15:14Speaker 9: going to Joel Quinnville, and it has been a revelation
- 15:18Speaker 9: for the Ducks, who are third in the NHL and
- 15:20Speaker 9: goals scored per game. With young superstars breaking out like
- 15:23Speaker 9: Leo Carlson, Cutter, Gotch Jackson, the comb and Beckett Seneca,
- 15:27Speaker 9: combined with veterans stability like Chris Crider, Troy Terry, Jacob
- 15:30Speaker 9: Truba and Radco Gutis, and a goaltender who's playing at
- 15:34Speaker 9: a high level in Lukash Dostall, everything seems to be
- 15:37Speaker 9: coming together for the Ducks in year one of the
- 15:39Speaker 9: Joel Quinnville era. With that, let's hear more from the
- 15:42Speaker 9: Ducks head coach Joel Quinnville as he talked about what
- 15:45Speaker 9: his team needed to do to break their little mini
- 15:47Speaker 9: skid after losing two in a row before their game
- 15:50Speaker 9: on Saturday against Columbus.
- 15:53Speaker 16: I think preparation the one that day they're unhappy, you know,
- 15:57Speaker 16: and how they approach going to the game daggling, and
- 16:00Speaker 16: you know in our meetings you can sense that, you know,
- 16:03Speaker 16: the preparation was in the right areas, you know, but
- 16:07Speaker 16: it's controlled emotion that you don't want to get it
- 16:10Speaker 16: all back in one minute, but all positive tonight.
- 16:15Speaker 1: You know, the way things played out.
- 16:17Speaker 9: As Mike and Al mentioned in the first segment, Leo
- 16:19Speaker 9: Carlson will be out, so their top points guy won't
- 16:23Speaker 9: be on the ice tonight for the Anaheim Ducks. So
- 16:25Speaker 9: hopefully kind of a good timing for the Kraken to
- 16:28Speaker 9: get one of the hottest teams in the NHL, hopefully
- 16:31Speaker 9: to slow them down a little bit. Hopefully Seattle can
- 16:33Speaker 9: lock it down defensively with all the injuries that have
- 16:35Speaker 9: piled up for them and keep things locked up tight
- 16:38Speaker 9: in Anaheim against an elite offensive team. Looks like lucashto
- 16:42Speaker 9: Stall will get the nod tonight in goal for the Ducks.
- 16:45Speaker 9: He's thirteen to seven and one on the season with
- 16:47Speaker 9: an eight to ninety nine save percentage. So hopefully the
- 16:50Speaker 9: Krack and offense can build off their good performance against
- 16:53Speaker 9: San Jose on Saturday night. Coming up next, we head
- 16:55Speaker 9: back to Anaheim. As Mike and Now have your keys

- 19:09Speaker 3: Mike Benton Alkaniski with you the Kraken going back to
- 19:13Speaker 3: back here for this week and aiming for back to
- 19:16Speaker 3: back wins for the first time since the twenty third
- 19:19Speaker 3: of November at Pittsburgh, and of course in that game.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Now we talked about the last time out in San Jose.
- 19:24Speaker 3: It was ben but don't break territory here, So a
- 19:26Speaker 3: big challenge against Anaheim here for tonight. Their skills involved
- 19:30Speaker 3: no Brandon montor for the Krack inside, no wheel Carlson
- 19:33Speaker 3: here for the Anaheim's sides. Regardless, it is mission two
- 19:37Speaker 3: points and to find a way to manufacture offense here.
- 19:40Speaker 4: So you got more of your three keys.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Go ahead out absolutely well.
- 19:43Speaker 5: First of all, you have to get to Anheim's net
- 19:45Speaker 5: with bad intentions. Pretty goals are nice, but greasy goals
- 19:48Speaker 5: pay the bills, especially on the road. The krack and
- 19:51Speaker 5: the bodies at the crease, eyes on the goalie and
- 19:53Speaker 5: zero concern for personal space in front of the Duck's net.
- 19:57Speaker 5: If Anaheim's expected starting goalie Lucas Dosal can see the puck,
- 20:02Speaker 5: you're doing it wrong. He's the ninth best goalie in
- 20:04Speaker 5: the league and you have to get in his grill
- 20:06Speaker 5: to get him off his game. Secondly, win the special
- 20:09Speaker 5: team's battle, no shortcuts, no excuses. Special teams are where
- 20:13Speaker 5: road games go to live or die. Seattle's power play
- 20:17Speaker 5: has to look decisive, not like it's waiting for permission,
- 20:20Speaker 5: and the penalty kill needs to be downright unfriendly.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Flip this battle and you flip the buildings.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Nothing quiets a crowd faster than a power play goal
- 20:29Speaker 5: or a soul crushing penalty kill. And then third, Grooby
- 20:33Speaker 5: needs an A plus night tonight. Philip Gruber has to
- 20:35Speaker 5: be sharp, calm, and occasionally disrespectful to the Duck shooters
- 20:39Speaker 5: tonight on the road, your goalie needs to erase mistakes,
- 20:42Speaker 5: steal momentum, and flash the glove just enough to crush confidence.
- 20:46Speaker 5: If Gruby's dialed in, Anaheim starts aiming for corners that
- 20:50Speaker 5: don't exist, so it's simple crash the net own special
- 20:54Speaker 5: teams and let Gruby put on.
- 20:55Speaker 1: A goalie clinic.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Do that and the Ducks go from confidence to confuse
- 21:00Speaker 5: to looking like they just forgot what class they're in
- 21:02Speaker 5: the Kraken, won't need style points, just points in the standings,
- 21:06Speaker 5: and they go on a quiet ride down to Los
- 21:08Speaker 5: Angeles while Anaheim wonders why nothing work?
- 21:11Speaker 3: And you can ralish that, just like you would relish
- 21:14Speaker 3: maybe your roast coming up here on.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Christmas Eve for Christmas Day.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I think it was roast on Christmas Eve. Yes, slice
- 21:20Speaker 1: up the leftovers for Christmas Day. It's an easy meal.
- 21:22Speaker 1: You make friends tip sandwiches.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Why am I so jealous of you?
- 21:24Speaker 3: Right now, let's talk about Philip grew Bauer starting in
- 21:27Speaker 3: net his last game against the Colorado Avalanche back on
- 21:30Speaker 3: December sixteenth. That seemed like if it was a big
- 21:32Speaker 3: hill to climb, but a big reason it was him,
- 21:35Speaker 3: the big reason the Crackner were able to stay in
- 21:37Speaker 3: that game and against Anaheim. Very good numbers coming into
- 21:41Speaker 3: this one head to head, yet the Kracking had to
- 21:43Speaker 3: have him doubt it, as you said here from the
- 21:45Speaker 3: get go, so you would think Colorado a game like that,
- 21:48Speaker 3: he saw plenty of action.
- 21:49Speaker 4: That's a good sign that he's locked in.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 5: He stopped thirty two of thirty six in that game
- 21:53Speaker 5: in an eight nine to nine stave percentage. But you
- 21:55Speaker 5: faced a best in the league Colorado Avalanche. So if
- 21:58Speaker 5: that was your last last game and you played well
- 22:00Speaker 5: in that game, well enough to give your team a
- 22:02Speaker 5: chance to win, he's just going to replicate that game
- 22:04Speaker 5: again here tonight.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Let's talk about Brandon Montour because we got to this
- 22:07Speaker 3: earlier on Crack and Weekly earlier today as we were.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Chatting at Mornings Skate.
- 22:12Speaker 3: There's a five on five aspect of this with no
- 22:15Speaker 3: Montur out of the line of course Ryan Lindren is
- 22:17Speaker 3: his defensive partner for much of the season, but also
- 22:21Speaker 3: there's a power play involved right now. So you think
- 22:24Speaker 3: about this, where do you see more of the effect
- 22:26Speaker 3: where the crack and have to rain this back in
- 22:28Speaker 3: in his absence five on five or the man advantage.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Well, I think it's really just both, Mike.
- 22:32Speaker 5: I think that the five on five, you're not going
- 22:34Speaker 5: to get as much of that offensive push that Brandon
- 22:37Speaker 5: Montour can do. It doesn't mean you're not going to
- 22:38Speaker 5: get any it's just you know, he's never seen a
- 22:41Speaker 5: rush that he doesn't like to jump into, Whereas I
- 22:43Speaker 5: think the other defensemen and all of them in that matter,
- 22:45Speaker 5: will do it when they see the opportunity to do it,
- 22:48Speaker 5: but make sure they can get.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Back on defense.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Whereas Brandon Montrerou he'll for check, he'll work the front
- 22:52Speaker 5: on the net before he comes back and covers his
- 22:55Speaker 5: defensive position, and not in a bad way, just that
- 22:57Speaker 5: he can sense when there's flow going offensively and he'll
- 23:00Speaker 5: stay down low until that breaks up. In the case
- 23:02Speaker 5: of of Raaker Evans playing the power play, he's done
- 23:06Speaker 5: this before. He knows that role. You don't get quite
- 23:08Speaker 5: as much of a heavy shot from him, but you
- 23:10Speaker 5: certainly get a hockey intelligence and he knows where to
- 23:14Speaker 5: put the puck into areas that players can deflect into
- 23:17Speaker 5: areas that are.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Tough for goalies to save and create big rebounds.
- 23:19Speaker 3: But when you talk about Anaheim, you're talking about a
- 23:21Speaker 3: big loss here for Leo Carl said. Miy has he
- 23:24Speaker 3: erupted here for this season, but they're going to be
- 23:26Speaker 3: missing his forty one points and also seventeen goals here
- 23:30Speaker 3: for this game tonight again once again day to day,
- 23:32Speaker 3: So me Kyle Grantlin moves up to take top line duties.
- 23:35Speaker 3: With him out, it'll be Luke oshtost All between the
- 23:37Speaker 3: pipesal As you said, a bumpy right that he got
- 23:40Speaker 3: in a blowout loss to Dallas. But he's been picking
- 23:42Speaker 3: up steam recently. Five wins here in the last seven games. Yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 3: I mean he's he's been on fire.
- 23:47Speaker 5: He's number nine on the list of goaltenders in the league.
- 23:50Speaker 5: So you know he's got the wins, he's got the
- 23:53Speaker 5: save percentage.
- 23:54Speaker 1: You can break that down though.
- 23:55Speaker 5: If you get to the front of that now, don't
- 23:57Speaker 5: I mean just stand there, You're gonna have to cruise
- 23:59Speaker 5: pop past the top.
- 24:00Speaker 1: For the crease.
- 24:00Speaker 5: There could be some contact, there could be some conversations
- 24:03Speaker 5: between whistles.
- 24:04Speaker 1: You got to try and get them off this game

- 27:05Speaker 9: Ducks coming up, but first let's hear more from Crackenhead
- 27:07Speaker 9: coach Lane Lambert now standing by with Mike Benton.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Anders than give very much back with the Crackenhead coach
- 27:13Speaker 3: Lane Lambert and Lane. First off, I think that one
- 27:15Speaker 3: thing that we learned from the San Jose game that
- 27:17Speaker 3: you're never out of a game. Two goals to come
- 27:19Speaker 3: back and both came from defenseman. But what did a
- 27:23Speaker 3: relatively penalty free third period allow this team to do
- 27:26Speaker 3: to help its.
- 27:26Speaker 21: Cus Well, it allowed us to play, you know, a
- 27:29Speaker 21: little bit more structured five on five hockey. We've taken
- 27:32Speaker 21: too many penalties lately. I think we've got fourteen penalties
- 27:35Speaker 21: in the last three games. We can't you know, we
- 27:37Speaker 21: can't afford to do that. Our penalty kill has been good,
- 27:42Speaker 21: but at the end of the day, you know, you
- 27:44Speaker 21: can only give them so many opportunities, and staying out
- 27:46Speaker 21: of the box helped us. You know build what we
- 27:50Speaker 21: you know, what we had been doing early on in
- 27:52Speaker 21: the season. We didn't take a lot of penalties late
- 27:54Speaker 21: in games in the start of the seasons, or we
- 27:57Speaker 21: were pretty solid at protecting leads from that standpoint, and
- 28:01Speaker 21: you know, it was a situation where we got back
- 28:04Speaker 21: to that a little bit last game.
- 28:05Speaker 3: One thing we saw I think from the moving screen
- 28:08Speaker 3: that helped out a couple of goals and which helped
- 28:10Speaker 3: get shots through. How much of that success this is
- 28:13Speaker 3: based on thinking versus other factors as far as where
- 28:16Speaker 3: that puck comes from your.
- 28:17Speaker 21: Defenseman, Well, you know, we talked to our defenseman about
- 28:21Speaker 21: shots selection, you know, potentially waiting in an extra second
- 28:25Speaker 21: to get pucks through so that we can get in
- 28:27Speaker 21: front of the net, but not waiting too long so
- 28:29Speaker 21: that they can block them. I thought they did a
- 28:31Speaker 21: really good job of that. And then you know, both
- 28:33Speaker 21: of those goals were scored. We had toleven and driving
- 28:36Speaker 21: to the net and we had you know, flash screen
- 28:38Speaker 21: coming on the other one. So it was a very
- 28:40Speaker 21: good job by our guys.
- 28:41Speaker 3: I know the loss of Brandon Montor hits hard, but
- 28:43Speaker 3: what has this team learned as far as how it
- 28:45Speaker 3: operates defensively so far in his absence.
- 28:48Speaker 21: Well, I mean, you know, he moves pucks out for us.
- 28:52Speaker 21: I thought, you know, last game, we spent a little
- 28:54Speaker 21: bit too much time in our zone at times. San
- 28:56Speaker 21: Jose is a quick team, and you know, we felt
- 29:00Speaker 21: like we could have or needed to make a few
- 29:02Speaker 21: more plays to spend less time in our zone. But
- 29:04Speaker 21: I'll give our guys credit. They competed hard. We had
- 29:07Speaker 21: a lot of block shots. We did a really good
- 29:09Speaker 21: job from that standpoint in our zone.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Eight points are points in a games so far out
- 29:13Speaker 3: of Chandler Stevenson. What kind of a game are you
- 29:15Speaker 3: getting out of him right now?
- 29:17Speaker 21: Pretty responsible, two hundred foot game, and you know he's
- 29:21Speaker 21: in my mind driving his feet more, which is translating
- 29:24Speaker 21: into offensive opportunities.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Finally, the Ducks have young players. They love pushing pace.
- 29:29Speaker 3: But how do these guys have to be dotted with
- 29:31Speaker 3: how they can handle this kind of game here for tonight.
- 29:33Speaker 21: Well, they're third in the league in goals for They're
- 29:36Speaker 21: a talented offensive group, you know, and they're a team
- 29:40Speaker 21: that likes to play in your face and play on
- 29:42Speaker 21: top of you. So we have to make sure that
- 29:45Speaker 21: for us, we're getting pucks out of our zone and
- 29:47Speaker 21: getting it out of our zone with possession play in
- 29:50Speaker 21: their zone. It's no different than we talked about with
- 29:52Speaker 21: the San Jose A team. We had a great start
- 29:54Speaker 21: to that last game with seventeen shots in the first period.
- 29:56Speaker 21: We got to play in their zone, and when we
- 29:59Speaker 21: don't have the puck, we're going to stay above their talent.
- 30:02Speaker 9: That's Lane Lambert. You can hear the full conversation with
- 30:05Speaker 9: him and Mike Benton on the iHeartRadio app by searching
