- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Duval Daily Prisoner by Jen Jag.com.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jordan Luba, thanks so much for being here Wednesday, August, thirteenth.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar has had the day off Wednesday.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: They will get back at it tomorrow on the practice field.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Scramage like practice according to Liam Cohen.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: That practice will kind of help determine whether or not you're going to see starters this weekend.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: in New Orleans.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: I would my best guess which is purely a guess because we haven't seen how Liam Cohen is going to do this and he could shift from doing it one way and year one.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: down the line, you know, twenty, twenty, six and beyond changing how he does it.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: Your one is different for coaches.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like you feel like you got to see your guys out there on the field sometimes, right?
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: During the preseason, when you haven't done this yet with this group of players.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: So they could be out there Sunday against the Saints.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: They might not be remains to be seen.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: My guess is you would see the starters and then you would see them obviously against the dolphins in the
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: joint practices, but not in the final preseason game.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's my best guess, but right now we're here to talk about some potential panic button issues.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: I had somebody comment on one of the videos
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: asking for some concerns.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: I have, and I know I did a video similar to this recently, but I figured I could update my list of concerns for your Jacksonville Jag wars heading into the twenty twenty five campaign.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: Some like panic button stuff potentially for me.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I've definitely got two things where I'm very close to hitting the panic button.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: And one thing where I'm moderately
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: Thinking about it, one thing where I'm not close, but it's in the back of my mind.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll dive into it.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.

- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: Look good while doing it.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: So this is a big panic button issue for me.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: The coverage units on defense, especially down the field.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: And the deep third, if you will, like I think,
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: So based on what you saw Saturday against the Steelers, I mean, you could say every area of the field in coverage should be panic button, right?
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: That would be an overreaction in my opinion because I think that they just got tempoed and weren't quite ready for that, which it's preseason week one.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: You could say here in say it's inexcusable, but it is a new defense, haven't played in a real game yet.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: They supposedly worked on that.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: to try to get it corrected, to be ready for tempo.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think if that was a real game setting,
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: You probably wouldn't call a timeout because it was the first drive and I'm talking about the third and two where you had your corners nine yards off the line of scrimmage.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously you were in a disadvantage situation.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: There's no way to win a rep, a passing rep, third and two if your corners are nine yards off the line of scrimmage.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: All they got to do is throw the football to one of those receivers right at the line and it's the first down easily.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's gotta get corrected.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think it will get corrected.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: I think Anthony Campinelli is a good coach.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they have players who do a good job of getting downhill in the second year.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think that Doe Ewingard, Eric Murray, Jordan Lewis, Tyson Campbell, Travis Hunter, when they've got eyes in front of them, when they're looking into the backfield and feeling things out and able to play forward, they're gonna be good.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: I really do believe that.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: The panic issue I have is covered units down the field.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that they have guys that can run right now.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Ransos injured.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter can run.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: Tyson Campbell can run.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's injured.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: And even though Tyson Campbell can run, the one area of his game that he still has not shown to be like great is down the field, contested catch situations, he struggles to get his head around to identify where the football is and to make a play on the ball.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's his worst part of his game besides staying healthy, right?
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: So even when he's healthy, this can be an issue.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think Jarian Jones can run with people.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think Travis Hunter can run with people and they're going to be primarily in zone coverage.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: So that should help put a roof as we've talked about over offenses a little bit.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: And you would also hope that your past rush.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: can make it so you can't just wait to throw the ball deep constantly.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think teams that can threaten down the field with their passing attack are going to have a big advantage against the Jaguar's defense.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguar's can defend the run.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think they can fire downhill.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think they can defend intermediate, short to intermediate passing.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think down the field, they're going to have a tough time defending the pass.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that their safety's run particularly well.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like Eric Murray was not any still not a bad athlete.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Andrew Wingard, not a bad athlete.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: But these guys are no longer young bucks.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: They don't run.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: Andrew Wingard's never been the fastest.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray, I think, did actually run like pretty good number for a safety, but he's over thirty years old.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: He's not in the athlete.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: He was when he was entering the NFL, and he played pretty darn well for the Texan's last year.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_00]: Demico Ryan's is an elite defensive coordinator and elite defensive play caller.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: For as much as I love the energy, Anthony, Campani, Librang, the intentionality, everything.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: I can't sit here and tell you he's in a lead defensive play color and a lead defensive mind at this point.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: I honestly just can't do that.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: So like, as well as Eric Murray may have played last year, is he going to play that while this year?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: Andrew Wingard has never done a great job when he has been in the starting lineup for an extended period of time.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen flashes of brilliance.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen good games.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen him in a role where he was the third safety and did come in a lot.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Make a lot of plays and do good things.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: But Tyson Campbell, dealing with day-to-day injury right now, hopefully tomorrow, will get some good news on that.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: But that gives you pause, absolutely.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: Buster Brown being injured isn't great.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'd strongly believe in Travis Hunter, but I want Travis Hunter on offense too, and I think he's gonna play a lot on both sides, but I just don't think that this group is built to play defense deep down the field.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Lewis, really good football player, not the best in just sprint down the field situations, better in confined spaces.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: Andrew Wingard, Eric Murray, Jordan Lewis are all better in confined spaces.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel good about that.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think teams like, I mean, even the Panthers week one, I think you can sit here and say, oh, they're passing game not that impressive.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think Bryce Young's going to be able to hit team Mac down the field against this team.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: Even if Travis Hunter is playing a lot of coverage against Teteromic Nolan, I mean, we've seen them to go head to head and Teteromic Nolan had a pretty damn impressive game against Travis Hunter.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe Travis Hunter can get some some revenge, et cetera, whatever.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: I would like to be able to see Tyson Campbell really having to take care of Teteromic Nolan in week one.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel great about it.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think the overreaction would be to say they can't cover at all.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think the appropriate reaction and belief is, or question is, can they cover down the field?
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also pretty damn worried about the interior defensive line.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: Look, Devon Hamilton.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: Austin Johnson, these guys, they can definitely play Rundy.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think you can definitely kick in manual logba and the one smooth inside and clear past rushing situations.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: But you want to have guys that you can have on the field for three downs.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they have those right now because they don't have Eric Armstrong.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: Instead, they don't have Mason Smith.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the two guys that should be able to play the run and the pass from the interior.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: Mason Smith is still on the active slash PUP.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's looking good in my mind, but I don't know.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know when they're going to activate him.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: And when they do activate him, is he going to be ready to make a big impact early on?
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: Is there a grum set going to be ready to make a big impact when he gets back?
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm worried because you haven't seen your top two defensive tackles from a
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: You know, this guy can be on the field potentially from a skill set standpoint, all three bounce.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: You just haven't seen that.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: So, don't love it.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, if you have players on the field who are one-dimensional, I think, you know, Devon Hamilton, Austin, Johnson, I love what they can bring you in the run game and as effort players, but if they're on the field, I'm probably throwing the football.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_00]: I just don't think they're going to help you much in the pass rush department.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully I'm wrong.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: This is a minor concern, not a panic, but those two, I'm very concerned about.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: Those two things we just talked about.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: But a defense that is just too dependent on two players.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: And those two players are Josh Hines Allen and Trable Walker.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, you could also say a defense is dependent on Travis Hunter.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: Three players.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: I like for a lot.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think in a bad coverage defense, he can be a decent to good player and a good coverage defense.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: He can be a great player.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like when he's got great pieces around him or good pieces around him, he can be great.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: When he's got decent to bad pieces around him, he can be good.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: But he's not going to elevate the whole thing.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Devin Lloyd
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: He's still got a proof that he can do a better job and coverage this year for sure.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: As I mentioned, I worried about the safety is a little bit.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to see Caleb Ransop playing, but he's injured right now.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Worried about Tyson Campbell's injury, his injury history, Buster Brown, Eric Armstead, Mason Smith.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: Is it just gonna be, well, go win us the game, Josh and Trayvon?
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: and Travis at times, is that going to be it?
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think it might be.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think that's going to be good enough.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I hope that they're able to get Tyson healthy.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you have Tyson healthy, I feel much better about this.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: But since Tyson has that day-to-day thing going on, I mean, that's concerning.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: It is, because that's how it can start on a injury-riddled season.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: Again, not hitting the panic button there, but just something I'm worried about a little bit and not not panicking here, but again, somewhat worried.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Can offensive mistakes just cost this team to many points, especially when you have the defensive questions we're talking about?
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have to put up a lot of points at times with this defense.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: You have, in my opinion, to win games.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: And offensive mistakes, such as pre-snap penalties, putting you behind the sticks, drops.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not excusing Trevor Lawrence at all of having mistakes as well.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he is the catalyst for overcoming a lot of mistakes.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think that he's been the driver of the offense and everything has been put on him.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, he can make mistakes too.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the throat of Brian Thomas Jr.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: was probably just a mistake.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: Point blank.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: I do believe that.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that was probably his only mistake.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: He was six or seven.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: He played well.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: He scrambled.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: Did a good job doing that.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: But if you have drops and pre-snap penalties, and then Trevor makes a mistake, that's like, well, how are we supposed to score touchdowns?
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of where I'm at.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of, that's a minor concern.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: They've been working on the pre-snap penalties.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think that in Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr., they got two reliable guys with hands.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think Britain's strange can be reliable with his hands.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: They've got some running backs that can be reliable with their hands.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: I would not include tank bigsby in that category.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: The army seems up and down with the hands for sure.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where I'm at.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all asked, this is my concerns with the jag wars right now.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_00]: I still think there a team that should be second in their division.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think there a team that could be dangerous, but there's some question marks right now.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: There's some question marks.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know what y'all think in the comment section below.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
