- 1:24Don Armstrong: And our first uh part of this is we're gonna talk to you guys about what happened on Thursday night because that's when you have the big uh symphony concert down there at uh City Hall and uh the county seat and all of that down at Town Square.
- 1:39Don Armstrong: How did things go?
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: It was great.
- 1:41SPEAKER_04: We had a huge turnout.
- 1:43SPEAKER_04: In fact, I think this is the year that we handed out the most packets on the first night.
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: I don't think we hardly had any left by the time we got done.
- 1:52SPEAKER_04: Um the symphony, they had a wonderful um performance as usual.
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: They include all the local school districts, I mean schools for Victoria and their performances.
- 2:05SPEAKER_04: And um everybody had a blast, as usual.
- 2:09SPEAKER_04: We missed you guys.
- 2:10Don Armstrong: Well, uh, you know, we wanted to do something a little bit different, and this is kind of different for you and us on the hot rod tour.
- 2:18Don Armstrong: And I just heard uh I guess that was Bobby's uh uh cop car that we just heard.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Acceleration, word hot pursuit.
- 2:26Jeff Dziekan: Uh either that or he's being pulled over one or the other.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: So how we got a few pictures we're gonna scroll while you are while we're talking to you.
- 2:35Don Armstrong: Okay, so uh let's uh let's let's talk about how many people are on the tour with you today.
- 2:42Don Armstrong: About 263, 263.
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: We got about 263, 264 people this year.
- 2:47unknown: Wow.
- 2:48Don Armstrong: You would say people, you're talking about cars?
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: That's cars, yeah.
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: That's just drivers and then six hundred and twenty-two.
- 2:55SPEAKER_04: About six hundred and twenty-two uh participants altogether.
- 2:59Don Armstrong: Wow, wow, that that that that's that's really I can I can only imagine what the food line would be.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: I will tell you yesterday at the restaurant we went to everybody fed within probably an hour, everybody had a hot meal.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 3:18Don Armstrong: Yeah, wow, that's fantastic.
- 3:20Don Armstrong: And where where was that?
- 3:22SPEAKER_04: That was at the powerhouse uh grill in Sagine.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: It's right on the Guadalupe River.
- 3:28SPEAKER_04: It's the power plant.
- 3:29Jeff Dziekan: I I need to interject something here.
- 3:31Jeff Dziekan: I've been following y'all on Facebook, Bobby.
- 3:33Jeff Dziekan: You your folks are doing a great job posting these things and keeping us aware of it.
- 3:37Jeff Dziekan: Uh you're you're there, but you're not there by following me on Facebook.
- 3:41Jeff Dziekan: And some of the things I'm reminiscing of the places we went to last year and the year before, I'm thinking that's cool, I've been there.
- 3:47Jeff Dziekan: But congratulations to y'all on your marketing and getting that out there because it's fantastic to follow y'all.
- 3:53Jeff Dziekan: Really is.
- 3:57Don Armstrong: And there's gonna be times when then we're not gonna be able to hear them.
- 4:00Don Armstrong: Yeah, so we're just gonna have to kind of fill in the gaps.
- 4:03Don Armstrong: Right.
- 4:04Don Armstrong: There they are.
- 4:04Don Armstrong: There they are.
- 4:10Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Uh on top of the hill.
- 4:14Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 4:14Don Armstrong: Yes, we did.
- 4:15Don Armstrong: Yeah, up above the cell phone tower.
- 4:18Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 4:20Don Armstrong: So um, Bobby, I I have to ask, I heard that motor roar just a little bit ago.
- 4:25Don Armstrong: I obviously you got your foot into it.
- 4:27Don Armstrong: So are you driving the Edsel cop car?
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: Yes, sir.
- 4:30SPEAKER_01: The 59 for uh Edsel Ranger.
- 4:35Don Armstrong: If the 59, but it doesn't it, but it doesn't have an EDSL motor in it.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: No, it's everything underneath it other than the body is a 2000 town car.
- 4:44SPEAKER_01: It's on airbag, vintage air conditioning.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: So we're we're getting a nice cold AC.
- 4:51Don Armstrong: Do you do you actually do any work on the car anymore?
- 4:54Don Armstrong: I mean, once you got the body changed over to the uh Lincoln, uh, I mean, I I've I've never heard you complain, or I mean the thing just keeps running forever.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: This this thing can really just all take it in, take it, take it in, baby them.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Y'all y'all know that y'all been on the tour with us.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: We don't baby them.
- 5:19Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 5:20Don Armstrong: Yes, I know.
- 5:21Don Armstrong: Because I've even in the Corvette, I've had uh every once in a while a time to keep up and catch you guys.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: It's a lot of fun.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: We really enjoy it.
- 5:30Don Armstrong: Yeah, it it truly is.
- 5:32Don Armstrong: So uh what are the highlights that you got going on today?
- 5:35Don Armstrong: Now, this is day two of the tour, correct?
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: We are headed to 40 darks garage in Spring Brand, the long way.
- 5:44SPEAKER_04: We're going through Cisterdale and Candelia and a couple places, and we're gonna have lunch there, and then we're gonna go um head towards uh Fredericksburg.
- 5:56SPEAKER_04: We're gonna take the Willis City loop and make our way to Archery uh resorts this afternoon to have dinner there.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Wow, I will send you a sort of I'll send you guys some pictures of the the photo wap we have at the lunchtop.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: You guys are really good.
- 6:14Don Armstrong: Well, thank you for rubbing it in.
- 6:16Don Armstrong: But yes, uh yes, we already we already do, actually.
- 6:19Don Armstrong: Um so Thursday night was the big uh concert with the symphony orchestra down there in Victoria, and uh I assume that all of that took off just fine.
- 6:30Don Armstrong: How was the uh Friday morning send-off from the baseball fields?
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: It was perfect.
- 6:38SPEAKER_04: We uh I believe we have some drone footage.
- 6:40Jeff Dziekan: You do?
- 6:42SPEAKER_04: Everybody showed up and we went to uh we went by several schools.
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: If you hit our Facebook page, I posted pictures of all the kids um one of the schools in Victoria and we made sure they all had Texas flags and they were giving Texas flags.
- 7:00Jeff Dziekan: Oh no.
- 7:01Jeff Dziekan: Uh oh just to finish up what she was saying, I did see that video.
- 7:04Jeff Dziekan: The kids are out there, the the whole school is emptied out on and they had a path.
- 7:08Jeff Dziekan: They were the the hot rods were just uh wonderful to go through there.
- 7:12Jeff Dziekan: A couple of them were revving their motors, the kids are all excited and getting uh getting all high fives and getting excited about that.
- 7:17Jeff Dziekan: So they did a great job.
- 7:19Don Armstrong: So uh I guess my question now is is it it's not the same path though up through the hill country that you guys have gone before?
- 7:26Don Armstrong: All new routes.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: No, it's an all-new route.
- 7:29SPEAKER_04: We've never taken this route before.
- 7:31Don Armstrong: This more you went through some other little towns with all the kids uh out there in the playground uh waving as you guys go by.
- 7:39SPEAKER_04: Yes, yes.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: That whole uh Yorktown we went through, all the the whole school district was out as we drove by.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: And our more our morning drive this morning is about 225 miles, just a morning drive.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 7:54Don Armstrong: And that's to that's to get to the lunch stop.
- 7:57Don Armstrong: Yes, yeah, and what are you guys having for lunch today?
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: We're having uh beef and chicken fajitas catered in by a caterer we brought in from San Antonio, Texas.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's great.
- 8:09Don Armstrong: Look at you guys go.
- 8:10Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 8:11Don Armstrong: Talk about stepping it up.
- 8:13Don Armstrong: You know, uh, we were on the very first tour with you guys, and uh we connected, and uh, I remember that there was a bar that got overwhelmed on the first night on third on Thursday night.
- 8:24Don Armstrong: Uh the poor folks over there, and they actually they did quite a uh quite a job getting everybody uh all fixed up and you got all the bags handed out.
- 8:33Don Armstrong: And uh it was it was a fun time, but things have really progressed in the past few years.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: The garage crawl, too.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: Uh, this is our second year to do the garage crawl on Thursday before the kickoff party was fantastic.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Uh all the shops, we had five different shops, uh, from drag racers to IMSA racers to uh basically my dino guy.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: So a big variety of stuff.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: They open our doors to the anybody can come, even if you weren't part of the tour.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: The Thursday kickoff party, it's it's open to the public, it's completely free.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: You don't have to be part of the tour to be.
- 9:14Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 9:16Don Armstrong: So obviously, you know, cell phone service up in the hill country is kind of sketchy, especially if you're on the move.
- 9:22Don Armstrong: Um, I I hear them trying to get back in.
- 9:25Don Armstrong: So there they are.
- 9:28Don Armstrong: There they are.
- 9:28Don Armstrong: Okay, so you guys are back.
- 9:29Don Armstrong: Sorry about that.
- 9:30Don Armstrong: No, no, it's okay.
- 9:31Don Armstrong: No need to apologize.
- 9:33Don Armstrong: Well, uh, I was just gonna say that uh with the advancement of the hot rod tour, it sounds like uh you guys have uh learned a few things from past events and improved on those, and you know how important it is uh to have some different venues along the way.
- 9:49Don Armstrong: It sounds like a ton of fun.
- 9:51Don Armstrong: Uh, you know, um I know that I thoroughly enjoyed it and I had no idea what to expect.
- 9:56Don Armstrong: You know, the first hot rod tour.
- 9:58Don Armstrong: I I can tell you that uh I got there to that uh that great outdoor patio bar that we all met up the first time and uh people aircraft.
- 10:09Don Armstrong: Yep, and yeah, and and the uh the guys uh from the uh the diesel guys from Dallas, um smoke uh the smoky whatever it is.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: Black smoke garage guys with cartridge, Texas.
- 10:24Don Armstrong: That's it.
- 10:24Don Armstrong: We got a bunch of them with us.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Jonas Patrice did make it, but the rest of them are all we got a handful of them with the steel.
- 10:30SPEAKER_04: So were you there the year that we had the 18 wheelers that followed us for a while too?
- 10:35Don Armstrong: No, well, if I was there, but I don't know if I remember them following you guys, but how fun would that be?
- 10:41Don Armstrong: I would have liked to have gotten into that uh that that follow-up.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: They went to the drag strip.
- 10:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they went to the drag strip with us, and they went to the place in dripping springs that we did.
- 10:51SPEAKER_04: They they were with us for about half a day that day.
- 10:54Don Armstrong: How fun.
- 10:55Don Armstrong: How many 18 wheelers were there?
- 10:58Jeff Dziekan: It was oh no.
- 11:02Don Armstrong: Six of them or so.
- 11:04Don Armstrong: Anyway, uh you know, these are some of the things that uh surprises that you get along uh with on the on on the hot rod tour.
- 11:11Don Armstrong: It's it's uh it's it's a fun, fun event that uh that pretty much anybody is invited to go.
- 11:20Don Armstrong: There's just a limited number of slots, right?
- 11:22Don Armstrong: And I think it's 300 or so.
- 11:24Don Armstrong: Right.
- 11:24Don Armstrong: Am I right with the 300 slots?
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: We did 350, but he was selling slots on Thursday night, people wanting passenger tickets, and he was selling them that night at the at the uh kickoff party.
- 11:37Don Armstrong: Yeah, we know there's the other the other the other the other fun thing about it is the fact that you know everybody is welcome.
- 11:44Don Armstrong: It's not something if you've got an 80 cutlass, yeah, it it doesn't make any difference.
- 11:50Jeff Dziekan: Whatever it is that we took Kathy's uh Lexus or 2013 Lexus a couple years ago.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Yes, Bob.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: We're branching out this year.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: When we leave the the lunch stop, we've got a helicopter following us all the way to Fredericksburg.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: You're gonna do a bunch of video footage for us by helicopter.
- 12:05Don Armstrong: Well, I'm glad it's somebody else and not me.
- 12:09Don Armstrong: No, I'm not on call this weekend, and I'm glad that I'm glad to report that.
- 12:12Don Armstrong: So that's a good thing.
- 12:14Don Armstrong: What kind of helicopter do you even know?
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure what it is.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: It's a second one that he's picked it up.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: A real good friend of ours.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:21Don Armstrong: Well, he's crazy, I can tell you that.
- 12:26Don Armstrong: Whoops.
- 12:27Don Armstrong: We lost her.
- 12:27Don Armstrong: We lost her.
- 12:28Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, they came to bounce.
- 12:30Don Armstrong: You talk about helicopters and things just go south.
- 12:33Don Armstrong: Exactly.
- 12:36Don Armstrong: I know that they're trying to get my talk to us.
- 12:38Don Armstrong: There you go.
- 12:39Don Armstrong: There we I think we got you all.
- 12:41Don Armstrong: No.
- 12:43Don Armstrong: But uh any at any rate, uh, that ought to be fun with the helicopter shot.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Yes, and we've had a we've had a bunch of uh bunch of drone footage as well.
- 12:53SPEAKER_01: So we'll have a lot of footage on the website on the Facebook page.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: So keep an eye on the Facebook page for live updates and real real time postings and lots of big things.
- 13:03Don Armstrong: What is it?
- 13:03Don Armstrong: What is it?
- 13:03Don Armstrong: Is it hot rod touroftexas.com?
- 13:06Don Armstrong: No, Facebook.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the Facebook's just Facebook's real simple.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Just search for Hot Rod Tour of Texas.
- 13:12SPEAKER_04: But uh we're we try to keep stuff on our actual website too, but you're gonna find it on the Facebook page first.
- 13:21Jeff Dziekan: Lots of saying earlier.
- 13:24Jeff Dziekan: I was saying earlier that you can actually follow the tour without being there.
- 13:27Jeff Dziekan: I was I was commending Bobby on all the posts that he had.
- 13:29Jeff Dziekan: It was you were like you were there.
- 13:31Jeff Dziekan: He didn't do anything.
- 13:31Jeff Dziekan: He that that's Sabra did.
- 13:34Jeff Dziekan: I'm driving.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: Yes, yes, it's me.
- 13:38Jeff Dziekan: Well, you're fantastic because you can follow it.
- 13:40Jeff Dziekan: You don't even have to be there, you're just you're there with spirit just by watching.
- 13:44Jeff Dziekan: So, where is your is your partner back there behind you guys or what?
- 13:48SPEAKER_04: Actually, he's in front of us.
- 13:50Don Armstrong: Jeremy.
- 13:51SPEAKER_04: Yes, the lead man.
- 13:53SPEAKER_04: He's always in the front.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: We always see the rear end of his truck.
- 13:56Don Armstrong: That's great.
- 13:58Don Armstrong: Yeah, well, uh we're doing it.
- 14:00SPEAKER_01: We're doing a navigation uh via uh radios for the rest of the group, so we kind of got a scattered out throughout the I think 12 miles long total.
- 14:12Jeff Dziekan: So was there hasn't been a lot of attrition with any of the hot rods, has there?
- 14:17Don Armstrong: We're we're 90 percent repeat repeat customers, so yeah, 90 percent of the of the of the group that normally goes.
- 14:26Don Armstrong: Um it's a great bunch of people, and uh I I the one thing that comes to my mind is we were out in the middle of nowhere.
- 14:34Don Armstrong: And here, you know, 300 cars all in a row, and we all decided no, somebody up front decided that they needed to take a leak.
- 14:42Don Armstrong: Yeah, and they pulled they pulled in into a little one-woman shop, convenience store, and there was no no there was no gas.
- 14:52Don Armstrong: It was just uh the fact that it was a one food items, yeah.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: And and the first year we did it, yeah.
- 15:01Don Armstrong: I was overwhelmed, but I asked her, I said, is there something that I can do to help?
- 15:04Don Armstrong: Yes.
- 15:04Don Armstrong: Uh you want to take the money?
- 15:06Don Armstrong: I said, No, no, I don't want to take the money, but I'll be more than happy to help you in any way that I can.
- 15:10Don Armstrong: And that's the whole spirit of the hot rod tour, is uh everybody helps each other.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: She was more interested in going outside and looking at the cars than she was taking money.
- 15:20Jeff Dziekan: So is she a usual stop now?
- 15:22Jeff Dziekan: Is she on the she on the schedule for stops now?
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: No, we haven't been that way.
- 15:26SPEAKER_04: Maybe that'll be a uh thing we need to revisit.
- 15:30Don Armstrong: And there was a guy that had a Corvette convertible, and it looked like it was gonna rain, and the top got stuck down, and everybody came to help.
- 15:38Don Armstrong: And I guess that they finally got the thing to work.
- 15:40Don Armstrong: That's a good thing when you got a bunch of uh you know shea tree mechanics all in a row out there.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:46Don Armstrong: Well, listen, it's great to talk to you.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: A lot of VA Corvette convertibles.

- 19:51Jeff Dziekan: I'll let you do the intro and I'll pop it.
- 19:54Jeff Dziekan: Okay, so from rookie contracts to racing wealth, these are the uh homes of some of the NASCAR drivers that we all know, and not necessarily your current.
- 20:04Jeff Dziekan: So, what happens when speed, fame, and and big wins turn into real estate real world?
- 20:09Jeff Dziekan: Well, for NASCAR's biggest star, success doesn't just stay on the track, it shows up in the homes they build.
- 20:14Jeff Dziekan: From a quiet lakeside retreat to jaw-dropping mansions.
- 20:17Jeff Dziekan: So here we go.
- 20:18Jeff Dziekan: The first one on the block is uh Kevin Harvick's$3.5 million European castle.
- 20:23Jeff Dziekan: It's a 12,000 square foot Oak Ridge mansion.
- 20:26Jeff Dziekan: It looks more like a your European fortress rather than a uh race car driver's pad.
- 20:31Jeff Dziekan: 2014 uh NASCAR champion.
- 20:33Jeff Dziekan: He listed the five-bedroom home featuring a garden for$3.5 million.
- 20:38Jeff Dziekan: It's a fitting residence for a man with$121 national series wins, ranking him third all time in NASCAR history.
- 20:45Jeff Dziekan: I like it, but I don't like the big hill there.
- 20:47Jeff Dziekan: I would probably trip and roll down it.
- 20:49Jeff Dziekan: The next one we have is Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s uh$3.7 million Pirate Paradise.
- 20:55Jeff Dziekan: Uh Earnhardt, his love for history in the Key West, built his pirate home.
- 21:00Jeff Dziekan: 3,300 square foot nautical escape features rope-wrapped columns, ship wheels, and even a secret hatch.
- 21:07Jeff Dziekan: Don't know where it goes.
- 21:08Jeff Dziekan: 26 time cup winner listed a five-bedroom home for again for$3.7 million, showcasing a renovation hobby he once shared on the do uh on the DIY network.
- 21:18Jeff Dziekan: So he was actually doing remodels to it and uh put it on TV.
- 21:23Jeff Dziekan: The next person we have this is a retired driver, Kurt Bush's uh Trophy Room Palace.
- 21:28Jeff Dziekan: Uh located in Mooresville, uh which is North Carolina.

- 21:52Jeff Dziekan: Home recently hit the market for nearly four million bucks.
- 21:55Jeff Dziekan: So there you go.
- 21:56Jeff Dziekan: If you got an extra four million, you can buy it.
- 21:58Jeff Dziekan: Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
- 22:00Jeff Dziekan: Equestrian estate.
- 22:01Jeff Dziekan: This home is a massive 9,986 square foot property, previously owned by NASCAR legend Ernie Irvin and Joe Nimachek.
- 22:09Jeff Dziekan: I don't think they owned it together separately.
- 22:11Jeff Dziekan: Valued at$16 million.
- 22:13Jeff Dziekan: The estate features an 18-stall horse barn, three-acre pond, and a putting green.
- 22:18Jeff Dziekan: The Daytona 500 residence often uh offers a spa and a cabana for the ultimate post-race relaxation.
- 22:26Jeff Dziekan: Jeff Gordon, who knows him?
- 22:27Jeff Dziekan: This is the Manhattan condo guy.
- 22:29Don Armstrong: In your tiny little speedo.
- 22:31Jeff Dziekan: There you go.
- 22:31Jeff Dziekan: Four-time champion uh Jeff Gordon trademarked for uh the track for Central Park views with its$30 million residence.
- 22:38Jeff Dziekan: Now bear in mind it's an apartment or condo, I should say, featuring Brazilian cherry floors and an Italian ceramic kitchen.
- 22:45Don Armstrong: Brazilian.
- 22:46Don Armstrong: I knew we would get that word in there sooner or later.
- 22:51Jeff Dziekan: 3,454 square feet uh home tripled in value since Gordon's 2007 purchase.
- 22:56Jeff Dziekan: NASCAR Hall of Famer sold the electric unit just two months before finishing it.
- 23:03Jeff Dziekan: He provided speed translates to real estate, is what he's talking about.
- 23:07Jeff Dziekan: So he real estate.
- 23:08Jeff Dziekan: Real estate.
- 23:09Jeff Dziekan: Not real estate, I guess.
- 23:12Jeff Dziekan: Uh-huh.
- 23:12Jeff Dziekan: An estate for the real.
- 23:13Jeff Dziekan: Tony Stewart's$30 million Indiana Lounge or Lodge.

- 23:37Don Armstrong: Drop something.
- 23:38Don Armstrong: Drop.
- 23:39Don Armstrong: I was going to say trout, but I guess that'd be kind of trout.
- 23:42Jeff Dziekan: Go trolling the night before.
- 23:43Jeff Dziekan: Built in the Northern Rockies Lodge Pole Pine.
- 23:46Jeff Dziekan: Extreme luxury.

- 24:23Jeff Dziekan: He was winning races by inches.
- 24:24Jeff Dziekan: Oh my god.
- 24:25Jeff Dziekan: And uh and I got it.
- 24:27Don Armstrong: There was a joke in there.
- 24:28Don Armstrong: I just now getting it.
- 24:29Don Armstrong: Sorry.
- 24:30Jeff Dziekan: But there you go.
- 24:30Jeff Dziekan: So if you got a lot of money and you're a race car driver, and I know there's a lot of folks out there that are trying to be a uh uh that level, keep trying.
- 24:37Jeff Dziekan: I mean you gotta start somewhere, and and there's a lot of folks out there that know what they're doing.
- 24:41Don Armstrong: Time now for this hour's car review.
- 24:43Don Armstrong: Had a chance to drive the 2026 Chevrolet Blazer EV.
- 24:48Don Armstrong: Comes in these trim levels: the LT, the RS, and the SS.
- 24:53Don Armstrong: I had the SS.
- 24:55Don Armstrong: Now, this is considered by the government as a small SUV.
- 24:58Don Armstrong: We would like to call it really a medium size.
- 25:01Don Armstrong: Uh ours was Habanero Orange.
- 25:05Don Armstrong: Seats 5 folks, including the driver, all new for 2024.
- 25:09Don Armstrong: Sharp and unique EV styling ranks high on our looking glass meter.
- 25:15Don Armstrong: Unique gills behind the front wheel well.
- 25:18Don Armstrong: Uh driver's side in particular opens for a charge port over there.
- 25:23Don Armstrong: Good-looking 22-inch wheels, not ugly EV wheels, great-looking rear hatch area, Chevy unique.
- 25:31Don Armstrong: And what I liked, the overall design kills it.
- 25:35Don Armstrong: We could use improvement.
- 25:37Don Armstrong: The power sunroof is a$1,500 option.
- 25:40Don Armstrong: It's not for Houston sunshine in the summertime.
- 25:45Don Armstrong: That my opinion.
- 25:50Don Armstrong: There's no stop button.
- 25:52Don Armstrong: You get it in, sit down, uh, put your foot on the brake, and it's it turns on.
- 26:00Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 26:00Don Armstrong: Uh-huh.
- 26:01Don Armstrong: You want to get out?
- 26:02Don Armstrong: All you gotta do is just put the car in park and get out, and it shuts off.
- 26:08unknown: Wow.
- 26:08Don Armstrong: There's no button.
- 26:09Don Armstrong: Very different.
- 26:10Don Armstrong: It's kind of unsettling at first.
- 26:12Don Armstrong: Anyway, uh seating materials are cool.
- 26:15Don Armstrong: Three round vents on the dash for AC.
- 26:19Don Armstrong: Uh layered dual screens are awesome.
- 26:23Don Armstrong: 17-inch center screen.
- 26:26Don Armstrong: Uh cargo room, adequate for a vehicle.
- 26:29Don Armstrong: Its size.
- 26:29Don Armstrong: What I liked, the overall interior design is awesome.
- 26:33Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 26:35Don Armstrong: There is no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto available on this vehicle.
- 26:42Don Armstrong: It's a thing that General Motors is doing across the board that they're going to do away with all of that and bring it in-house with the OnStar built in.
- 26:50Don Armstrong: And so they want your money that you would normally pay for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
- 26:57Don Armstrong: They want to be in charge of everything on the no button.
- 27:01Don Armstrong: Engine, 120, uh, I'm sorry, 102 kilowatt per hour battery.
- 27:06Don Armstrong: Uh, it's got dual motors on it, it's all wheel drive.
- 27:10Don Armstrong: Uh, relative speaking, it's uh 615 horsepower, 600 650 pound feet of torque.
- 27:18Don Armstrong: No transmission, it's a direct drive electric motor.
- 27:21Don Armstrong: Uh range, it says 302 miles.
- 27:24Don Armstrong: Well, um, I got uh 2.6 miles per kilowatt hour, which uh related to about a 443.5 miles.
- 27:33Don Armstrong: Anyway, what I liked about it, um it's for a plug-in.
- 27:39Don Armstrong: I mean, it's it's okay.
- 27:41Don Armstrong: I plugged it in at home and I plugged it in at work.
- 27:44Don Armstrong: And so if you want to call it free electricity, as you know, there's no nothing free anymore.
- 27:48Don Armstrong: Riding handling, uh, it's smooth despite its heavy battery pack.
- 27:52Don Armstrong: What could use improvement?
- 27:54Don Armstrong: Nothing, I suppose.
- 27:55Don Armstrong: Here's the price.
- 27:56Don Armstrong: Uh base trim,$60,600.
- 27:59Don Armstrong: Price assessed$63,985.
- 28:01Don Armstrong: The base model price, not the SS now, uh, is$44,700.
- 28:08Don Armstrong: Competitors, Hyundai Ionic 5 starts at$35,000.
- 28:12Don Armstrong: Cadillac Lyric,$59,200, which I think would be its twin sister on the Cadillac brand.
- 28:19Don Armstrong: And then the Mustang Mach E starts at$37,795.
- 28:23Don Armstrong: Next week I get to review the Kia K4.
- 28:27Jeff Dziekan: You I want to back up.
- 28:28Jeff Dziekan: You talked about the no start button.
- 28:30Jeff Dziekan: Do you think maybe there's a uh sensor in the seat, like the weight would maybe activate you the computer.
- 28:37Don Armstrong: You have to have the key fob on you, and then you sit down in it.
- 28:41Don Armstrong: So there's probably some kind of sensor, maybe?
- 28:43Don Armstrong: Absolutely.
- 28:44Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 28:44Don Armstrong: Because uh I think all cars are that way.
- 28:46Don Armstrong: You can't start it without somebody having their butt in the seat and the foot on the brake.
- 28:50Jeff Dziekan: You just can't lean in and because you gotta put your foot on the brake and all that.
- 28:53unknown: Yeah, correct.
- 28:55Don Armstrong: Like the good old days.
- 28:57Jeff Dziekan: Hot water car with one hand.
- 28:59Don Armstrong: There's none of that.
