Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, guys, you are listening and watching Ashley Evan Smith.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I am a former UFC fighter and I have making
- 0:06Speaker 1: my debut premiere in acting and stunts in the upcoming
- 0:10Speaker 1: film The Workout. It's an action movie that picks ass
- 0:14Speaker 1: and you should check it out.
- 0:16Speaker 2: As you say, your new movie, The Workout is available
- 0:18Speaker 2: on Amazon from October the twenty eight.
- 0:20Speaker 3: So how you feel about the release?
- 0:25Speaker 4: Just very excited in general. I think there's good feelings.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I think there's bad feelings, nervous feelings, not necessarily bad.
- 0:34Speaker 1: A couple of the reviews have already come out and
- 0:36Speaker 1: the director has sent you know, some people have good things,
- 0:39Speaker 1: some people have bad things. But I think it's, you know,
- 0:42Speaker 1: kind of like with MMA and Fighting My Past. There's
- 0:45Speaker 1: pros and cons to it, and no matter what you do,
- 0:47Speaker 1: people are always going to have something to say.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's always going to be heightens no matter
- 0:51Speaker 2: how good you are, there probably going to be more
- 0:53Speaker 2: when you're good.
- 0:54Speaker 4: This is true. This is probably true.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Now.
- 0:57Speaker 2: The Workout is described as an intense bad footage film,
- 1:01Speaker 2: but tell us more about the storyline and your role
- 1:03Speaker 2: in it.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Oh. I love the storyline.
- 1:06Speaker 1: It's basically two Army rangers. They former Army rangers. They
- 1:12Speaker 1: have a gym together. Unfortunately, somebody gets caught up in
- 1:15Speaker 1: some bad stuff and the pregnant wife gets killed. Then
- 1:19Speaker 1: you basically go on a revenge journey with these badass
- 1:24Speaker 1: you know actors who are former Army Rangers, I mean, sorry,
- 1:27Speaker 1: these former Army Rangers who are now doing crazy stunts.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And I come in in my part of the movie,
- 1:33Speaker 1: and I'm also a former Army ranger. I'm basically kind
- 1:37Speaker 1: of a little bit who I am in real life,
- 1:38Speaker 1: a big old tomboy but no military background unfortunately, and
- 1:43Speaker 1: I just come in and want to help the guys
- 1:45Speaker 1: seek revenge. And we spend the whole movie kicking butt
- 1:48Speaker 1: and taking names.
- 1:50Speaker 2: You're a muscletist in real life, but what skills, what
- 1:53Speaker 2: training does he character have in the movie?
- 1:56Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So I'm really fortunate to have met a female former
- 2:02Speaker 1: Army ranger, which don't quote me on how many numbers
- 2:04Speaker 1: there are, but very very few.
- 2:07Speaker 4: This woman, her name was Lisa Jasterer.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Actually I met her many years ago, like a decade ago,
- 2:13Speaker 1: while I was touring for It's called Armed Forces Entertainment,
- 2:16Speaker 1: And so fast forward. It was so cool that the
- 2:21Speaker 1: woman my character Tank was this badass woman that I
- 2:24Speaker 1: had previously met on a military base, just randomly, you know.
- 2:30Speaker 4: I thought that was cool.
- 2:31Speaker 1: So what I did was I read her book and
- 2:33Speaker 1: I loved it, and so you can also get it
- 2:36Speaker 1: on Amazon. I really just, you know, tried to get
- 2:41Speaker 1: in touch with that part of the character, which was
- 2:44Speaker 1: the hardest because I have no freaking idea what it
- 2:47Speaker 1: would be or what it would take to be a soldier.
- 2:50Speaker 4: But I think.
- 2:51Speaker 1: That I got a lot of heart and a lot
- 2:53Speaker 1: of grit in a martial arts aspect, which is obviously
- 2:56Speaker 1: very different. But I tried to just get in touch
- 2:59Speaker 1: with the character in that way, and then all the
- 3:02Speaker 1: other stuff I felt right at home, you know, just
- 3:05Speaker 1: always wanting to be one of the guys and liking
- 3:08Speaker 1: to get dirty and play rough and tough.
- 3:10Speaker 4: So that was easy peasy.
- 3:13Speaker 2: You mentioned before that you sort of could relate to
- 3:15Speaker 2: some aspects of that character, but as an actress, like
- 3:19Speaker 2: how much of yourself you lay out to go into
- 3:21Speaker 2: a character, Like is there a point where you sort
- 3:23Speaker 2: of get too far into it or it doesn't limit
- 3:26Speaker 2: I mean.
- 3:27Speaker 4: I hope one day I go too far.
- 3:29Speaker 1: This was you know, like I said, or you know,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I've talked about in the past, this is you know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: I've done smaller roles, but this is legit my first
- 3:39Speaker 1: real acting and stunt experience, and I loved it so much.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I tried to get into the character as much as possible.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I wish we had more time, that everything was a
- 3:48Speaker 1: learning experience, and I realized it's really a lot of
- 3:54Speaker 1: you know, you just better be ready you get the role,
- 3:56Speaker 1: and you know, we we did rehearsal for stunts, but
- 3:59Speaker 1: I feel like.
- 4:00Speaker 4: We could have months. We could have done months and
- 4:03Speaker 4: months of more preparation. But and that's probably different with
- 4:06Speaker 4: different budgets and stuff like that. I'm still learning. But
- 4:09Speaker 4: it was just so much fun.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I wish I could have, Like every day I went
- 4:13Speaker 1: to set, I would drive and ask myself.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Is this really my life?
- 4:17Speaker 1: It's just so much fun, you know, playing literal cops
- 4:20Speaker 1: and robbers and and you know, beating each other up
- 4:24Speaker 1: good guys, bad guys, And it was so so so
- 4:26Speaker 1: much fun. So yeah, sorry, I got off on a
- 4:28Speaker 1: tangent there, But.
- 4:31Speaker 3: What was the question?
- 4:31Speaker 2: That's that's an interesting point, because like you immerse yourself
- 4:34Speaker 2: in this drouble. So I'd like to say you're driving
- 4:36Speaker 2: the a guy like wow, just going then all of
- 4:38Speaker 2: a sudden it's gone, like the answer, reach back to
- 4:41Speaker 2: normal life.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So to answer your question, I remember, So it was basically,
- 4:45Speaker 1: have you ever gone too far? And no, I'm I'm
- 4:49Speaker 1: too much of a newbie rookie to have gone too far.
- 4:52Speaker 4: I mean, is there going too far? I mean yeah,
- 4:53Speaker 4: you can, like maybe some actor we don't.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Talk about, let's not go down a scary set, but
- 4:58Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, maybe method acting. I would never you know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I'm pretty, I'm clean and sober. I'm six years over
- 5:06Speaker 1: six years, but you know, over six years sober. So
- 5:10Speaker 1: if I played a badass. Actually, there was a role
- 5:12Speaker 1: that I really wanted. It was a jone Jet type character,
- 5:15Speaker 1: which I thought would be epic, but I was like, yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 1: I would never not that jone Jet was you know, crazy.
- 5:23Speaker 3: You've got a guy down that ride?
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah, like I like, part of me is like, yeah,
- 5:27Speaker 1: let's do it, but then the other parts like nope.
- 5:29Speaker 4: You know, sobriety's first and foremost always for me. So
- 5:32Speaker 4: I guess I wouldn't go too too far in that regard. Yeah,
- 5:35Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't think I would go too far.
- 5:37Speaker 4: I think that it just be easy to do that.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Like, you wouldn't even realize you've gotten too far, would you,
- 5:41Speaker 2: Like you just get to a certain point, then all
- 5:43Speaker 2: of a sudden, the worlds would blend together, and all
- 5:45Speaker 2: of a sudden you just be like, the hell did
- 5:47Speaker 2: I get it?
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 5:49Speaker 1: I mean I would wonder if could I even you know,
- 5:53Speaker 1: be like a Jim Carrey Andy Kaufman type situation where
- 5:57Speaker 1: you know, they stay in character even when are not
- 6:00Speaker 1: on set, Like, maybe that might be going too far,
- 6:02Speaker 1: because I feel like that would mess up relationships. You know,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I can't imagine a wife or a husband or a
- 6:08Speaker 1: partner being cool with, you know, anyone who's not their.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Partner coming home. So I would probably be going too far.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I probably would.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Now we've mentioned that you are trying to you have
- 6:20Speaker 2: sa fight, and so how easy is it to transition
- 6:23Speaker 2: your skills from its basically a war in the cage
- 6:26Speaker 2: they having to use them in a more controlled environment
- 6:28Speaker 2: on set.
- 6:30Speaker 4: This is a question that I've been asked a couple
- 6:32Speaker 4: of times, and it is a good one.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You think it's either going to transfer really easy or
- 6:36Speaker 1: be scary for my stunt partner.
- 6:39Speaker 4: But a fun fact about and it's both. It's both.
- 6:44Speaker 4: There are times where it feels seamless and.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You know, just effortless, and then there are times where
- 6:51Speaker 1: you know, to pull a punch is so taboo in
- 6:54Speaker 1: in you know, my sport. You know, you step all
- 6:58Speaker 1: the way into the punch, you don't pull, and to
- 7:00Speaker 1: train something like that years and years and years, it's
- 7:03Speaker 1: now natural reaction to go full on, you know, to
- 7:06Speaker 1: just do it. So that was a little scary because
- 7:10Speaker 1: I want to be as safe and professional first and foremost.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I don't want to hurt anyone, and I don't want
- 7:15Speaker 1: to hurt myself obviously, and I don't want to mess
- 7:17Speaker 1: up any chances that I have for future opportunities. So
- 7:22Speaker 1: a fun story about the safety in that situation is
- 7:25Speaker 1: in the movie Me and a Bad Guy is my
- 7:28Speaker 1: boyfriend of six years. He's in the movie and we
- 7:31Speaker 1: have this epic fight scene. He's actually a black belt
- 7:34Speaker 1: jiu jitsu black belt and he you know, we get
- 7:38Speaker 1: to do some martial arts and I don't want to
- 7:40Speaker 1: I don't want to spoil it for you, but it's
- 7:42Speaker 1: a really cool scene. But I may have punched him
- 7:47Speaker 1: a couple times, allegedly for realsies.
- 7:52Speaker 4: But you know, I mean it was a really cool
- 7:55Speaker 4: thing that it was my partner.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I learned a lot of lessons and you know, I
- 8:00Speaker 1: probably would be I would have been I know, I
- 8:02Speaker 1: would have been even more careful if it was not
- 8:06Speaker 1: my partner.
- 8:07Speaker 4: I felt like I could be a little extra.
- 8:09Speaker 3: If you mess up a little bit, you get away
- 8:11Speaker 3: with it.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and I did, and I got away with it.
- 8:14Speaker 1: But moving forward, I'm like, okay, more professional, more more
- 8:17Speaker 1: stut trading.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah, because you're right, Like when you're trying to like you,
- 8:22Speaker 2: you get told to follow through with the punches, and
- 8:24Speaker 2: you easy hips this stuff, and all of a sudden
- 8:26Speaker 2: you've got to pull it on someone and.
- 8:27Speaker 3: It carries against every natural instinct in your body to
- 8:30Speaker 3: pull a punch.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Exactly, and and and a kick, and you know, grappling
- 8:36Speaker 1: was pretty easy. That that was, you know, that transitioned.
- 8:40Speaker 1: But there's a couple of times, like there's a warehouse
- 8:45Speaker 1: scene and I fall and I just I do my thing,
- 8:49Speaker 1: I act right, but like I just the mat was
- 8:52Speaker 1: not placed strategically perfectly, so I kind of like knocked
- 8:55Speaker 1: my nugin a little bit, and it's just, yeah, there's
- 9:00Speaker 1: a lot of little things that are different than fighting.
- 9:02Speaker 1: You know, there's not always going to be a matt there.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Maybe you need to check ahead of time.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Did the director and the scriptwriter and the stunt team
- 9:11Speaker 2: do they work closely with you on fight scenes and
- 9:13Speaker 2: ask your advice? So did I more map it out
- 9:15Speaker 2: and you just got to follow their instructions?
- 9:18Speaker 1: No, it was well, I mean I think it was
- 9:21Speaker 1: a little bit of both because again nubie, but really.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Fortunate to work with the stunt coordinator.
- 9:28Speaker 1: His name's Luke Lafontain, so many years of experience, kind
- 9:32Speaker 1: of guy that could just chat your ear off and
- 9:34Speaker 1: every story is like what really, you know, you just
- 9:37Speaker 1: you want more stories, okay, and they're after all true
- 9:39Speaker 1: you know, Hollywood stuff.
- 9:41Speaker 4: And so he is somebody who actually while he was showing.
- 9:44Speaker 1: All of you know, the Army Rangers what we should
- 9:48Speaker 1: be doing, he would actually say, Okay, this is why
- 9:50Speaker 1: we're actually going to fight like this.
- 9:52Speaker 4: It wouldn't make sense if we fight like this.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And I'm like, I mean, I'm not an action buff
- 9:58Speaker 1: like some people, but I had never even thought like, yeah,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you're not going to see some person doing you know
- 10:05Speaker 1: karate w they have a different Yeah, yeah exactly.
- 10:10Speaker 4: So that was really really cool.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Like and then he would ask, you know, like do
- 10:14Speaker 1: you feel comfortable doing this or doing this?
- 10:16Speaker 4: So I think both right.
- 10:17Speaker 1: He took what he thought was best and then also
- 10:20Speaker 1: asked our opinion, and then we got to collaborate on
- 10:23Speaker 1: what we did, which was so freaking cool.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Because like you you know, but like I can imagine
- 10:28Speaker 2: one day it's going to happen that someone says, you're right,
- 10:31Speaker 2: I want you to do this move and you're like,
- 10:32Speaker 2: you know in your head that that just won't work.
- 10:35Speaker 2: But they'd be like that, this is what you got
- 10:36Speaker 2: to do, Like that's it. They should listen to people
- 10:39Speaker 2: like yourself because you know what works and you know
- 10:41Speaker 2: what doesn't. And you know, if it's going to look
- 10:42Speaker 2: goodly no, like if it's going to look like you
- 10:44Speaker 2: jumped off a trampoline and kicked him in the face,
- 10:46Speaker 2: you know, like it's but.
- 10:47Speaker 4: You know what you would be surprised because I think,
- 10:51Speaker 4: like we go.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Back to does it transfer the real martial arts and acting?
- 10:55Speaker 1: And sometimes you know, like Luke would be like, Okay,
- 10:58Speaker 1: we're doing this, but you know the angle is offered.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Or something like that.
- 11:02Speaker 1: So I think that, yeah, I know the moves, but
- 11:05Speaker 1: but also it's different when it's in a movie, you know,
- 11:08Speaker 1: so you wouldn't do certain moves that are you know, deadly,
- 11:14Speaker 1: not deadly, but like really you know, just killer, great moves,
- 11:17Speaker 1: but they're just not as flashy, So maybe you don't
- 11:20Speaker 1: put those in the movie or something like that.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Right, it's practicality of real life in the flashiness and
- 11:24Speaker 2: maybe to two different things exactly exactly, you know, as
- 11:28Speaker 2: I mentioned Elia, like this is a fan footage action
- 11:31Speaker 2: maybe which involves paper Jackie camera sort of shocks this uplight?
- 11:35Speaker 3: Did it take time to get used to filming like that?
- 11:37Speaker 3: Like did it sort of dog your head in a
- 11:38Speaker 3: little bit? Wuldn't it?
- 11:40Speaker 1: That was very very on the job learning, but not
- 11:45Speaker 1: hard really. It was you become the camera yourself. So
- 11:49Speaker 1: you're not acting, you know, physically, but you're still verbally,
- 11:54Speaker 1: you know, you're still feeding the lines to your other actors,
- 11:57Speaker 1: but you are the camera person and acting at the
- 11:59Speaker 1: first time.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Now priority you are the camera. Your body moves to.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Get the footage, but you're still saying and speaking a
- 12:06Speaker 1: certain way. And we all learned this on. I learned
- 12:09Speaker 1: this on set and just so much fun. You know,
- 12:12Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, now I'm a camera woman as well.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Now you sort of touched on this before, but I
- 12:20Speaker 2: had a look online about the movie to do a
- 12:22Speaker 2: bit of research, and there's a heap of reviews out
- 12:25Speaker 2: of the movie already and it still doesn't come out
- 12:27Speaker 2: for another two and a half weeks. Right, did you
- 12:29Speaker 2: ever write do you read those reviews or would you
- 12:31Speaker 2: rather avoid them in case they are negatives.
- 12:35Speaker 1: So we're like in this big group chat with all
- 12:38Speaker 1: the you know, director and all the actors, the whole
- 12:40Speaker 1: cast and crew, and the director sometimes sends us the
- 12:44Speaker 1: reviews and it'll just say the percentage on Rotten Tomatoes
- 12:48Speaker 1: or whatever. And if it's good, I'll read it. If
- 12:50Speaker 1: it's bad, I don't give a crap. I'm only looking
- 12:55Speaker 1: for positive energy, and regardless of what they say, I'm
- 12:57Speaker 1: just going to keep doing my thing.
- 12:58Speaker 4: And so all the rest of us so.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Refreshing, refreshing to hear.
- 13:04Speaker 2: The answer to this now after talking is I didn't
- 13:06Speaker 2: realize there was your debut film. But I looked at
- 13:08Speaker 2: about half a dozen sites last trying to do a
- 13:10Speaker 2: bit of research and every one of them. They had
- 13:12Speaker 2: all the cast members and there was a photo of
- 13:14Speaker 2: them next to their description, but.
- 13:16Speaker 3: None of them had your photo.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Well, there's about half a dozen, and not one's got
- 13:19Speaker 2: a photo of you on there.
- 13:20Speaker 3: You're the only one without a photo. It's strange.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I will have to talk to somebody about this because
- 13:28Speaker 1: it's like it's just like a little gray square box.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And it's like, I'm sure she doesn't look like that
- 13:33Speaker 2: in real life.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what someone who?
- 13:38Speaker 1: I mean, everything in this industry is based on pretty
- 13:42Speaker 1: much looks and talent as well.
- 13:43Speaker 4: But you're right, I should have my picture on there.
- 13:46Speaker 3: To promote it.
- 13:47Speaker 2: In all seriousness, it did stand out or it was
- 13:49Speaker 2: like I've been after about the fifth one.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I'm thinking, like, what did with this girl? How come
- 13:53Speaker 3: you don't want a photo up there?
- 13:56Speaker 4: No, No, I would love it. I don't need you're
- 13:58Speaker 4: talking about IMDb.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I am being there was rotten Tomatoes. There's about four
- 14:03Speaker 2: other ones. I'll let it all this bit out. I
- 14:05Speaker 2: won't keep it in, but there's about there's about probably
- 14:09Speaker 2: six of them all up, and it was just like
- 14:10Speaker 2: a little hazy gray square with a plus or something
- 14:12Speaker 2: in the middle of it, and that was you were the
- 14:14Speaker 2: only one out of all of them. It looked like
- 14:16Speaker 2: wanted you in their gang.
- 14:19Speaker 4: All right, But they keep telling me that, Chris, I
- 14:20Speaker 4: will work on it.
- 14:23Speaker 2: So if you was someone up the workout to a
- 14:25Speaker 2: friend that you were trying to convince to go and
- 14:27Speaker 2: see the movie, what would you say?
- 14:31Speaker 3: Hmm?
- 14:33Speaker 4: I would say you would mix a.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Little bit of John Wick and what's another and it's
- 14:42Speaker 1: like a good military movie, a little like patriotic movie,
- 14:46Speaker 1: little little little action, little patriotism, revenge all mixed into one.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And I go asked, like, what what would you tell
- 14:56Speaker 1: the audience about the film, And I'll tell you I
- 14:59Speaker 1: don't want you know, I am not a movie encyclopedia,
- 15:02Speaker 1: but this is probably one of the action movies that
- 15:05Speaker 1: you will see and it will be NonStop action just
- 15:08Speaker 1: and you know, the found footage, whether you like it
- 15:12Speaker 1: or not, it makes it even more exciting.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I think that's my opinion.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Like we just say over all that having yourself
- 15:18Speaker 2: that knows fighting from both angles, now, I guess haven't
- 15:21Speaker 2: you in the movie would make the fight scenes more
- 15:23Speaker 2: realistic because I know a lot of people watch fight
- 15:25Speaker 2: scenes and they're just like that's boast.
- 15:27Speaker 3: You can tell that's bosh it. But having yourself in
- 15:29Speaker 3: there that knows what they're doing, do you think that
- 15:31Speaker 3: will make it more realistic for people?
- 15:33Speaker 1: I think definitely the specific scene I told you about
- 15:38Speaker 1: where you know, my black belt boyfriend and I. I think
- 15:41Speaker 1: we try to be as realistic as possible while making
- 15:45Speaker 1: a movie and being safe and uh, you know the
- 15:49Speaker 1: other stuff, which there's so much that there's not just fighting,
- 15:51Speaker 1: there's nice, there's there's a you know.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Lots of like baseball bats, Yeah, lots of.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Fun stuff like that, And you know, I mean that's
- 16:02Speaker 1: hard like to say, like is that realistic?
- 16:04Speaker 4: Is I mean if I knew what it really looked like.
- 16:07Speaker 1: To see a guy's a knife go through a guy's
- 16:09Speaker 1: head or smash a baseball over their head, then I'm
- 16:12Speaker 1: probably there's.
- 16:12Speaker 4: Something wrong with me.
- 16:13Speaker 1: But it seems like all these these effects too were
- 16:16Speaker 1: very realistic.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Like there's there's some gore in the movie for sure,
- 16:20Speaker 4: which I love.
- 16:23Speaker 3: So what's next for Ashley Evan Smith?
- 16:25Speaker 2: Then you've got your debuty out of the way, what
- 16:27Speaker 2: are you planned next?
- 16:29Speaker 1: So I was really lucky that right after we wrapped
- 16:32Speaker 1: the workout, I got a call back from a movie.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Remember I said, I've done a lot of small roles.
- 16:37Speaker 1: It was one of the roles where basically it was
- 16:39Speaker 1: like right this way, and they called me back and
- 16:44Speaker 1: they were like, hey, I don't know the details specifically.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I think like, I definitely know that there was a
- 16:50Speaker 1: pause in filming the movie, and I don't know if
- 16:52Speaker 1: they needed more scenes to fill gap or whatever, but
- 16:55Speaker 1: they said, hey, we want to basically kill you in
- 16:58Speaker 1: the movie. It's you know, some more scenes. So I
- 17:00Speaker 1: went back and filmed. It's called only seven Days. It's
- 17:03Speaker 1: a horror earthquake where Wolf horror movie to make.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Yeah, and it was super fun.
- 17:11Speaker 1: It was just you know, a couple extra days on
- 17:14Speaker 1: set of this movie. But it was funny because even
- 17:16Speaker 1: in the movie the first scene, I'm like a museum
- 17:19Speaker 1: greeterer and I like, you know, am.
- 17:20Speaker 4: I right this way right?
- 17:21Speaker 1: And I have a shaved head on one side because
- 17:23Speaker 1: it's like three years two and a half years ago.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And then they did the callback you know, six months
- 17:28Speaker 1: or something like that, and it's grown out and they
- 17:31Speaker 1: were like it and I'm like, no, I had that
- 17:34Speaker 1: hairdo for like ten years, you know, and I rocked it.
- 17:37Speaker 4: I liked it.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I have a tattoo underneath, but I was like, I
- 17:41Speaker 1: can't do it for a tiny little scene, you know,
- 17:43Speaker 1: like like it was a cool scene.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Definitely watched the movie, but I can for just be.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Like, yeah, yeah, I couldn't. I'm like, so I'm actually
- 17:56Speaker 1: wearing a beanie in that movie, which is funny.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Compromise, compromack, that'd be funny. You go.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Actually, I've got a little segment that I do. It's
- 18:05Speaker 2: called photo bombs. So basically, I've trolled through your social
- 18:08Speaker 2: media before you've had a chat, and I've found a
- 18:10Speaker 2: couple of photos that want to talk a little bit
- 18:11Speaker 2: more about, Like there's no nasty ones day. You've got
- 18:13Speaker 2: some great photos there, but there's a lot I wouldn't use. Okay, okay,
- 18:17Speaker 2: this one, this one is just plain cute. Like a
- 18:21Speaker 2: lot of people, a lot of people just sort of
- 18:23Speaker 2: assume that because you're a fighter, that you're the same
- 18:25Speaker 2: rough half warrior outside of the ring. But even bloodthirsty
- 18:29Speaker 2: warriors need to be pampered every now and then.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I mean, I've been a tumble in my
- 18:35Speaker 4: whole life.
- 18:36Speaker 1: But even as you can see, like look at these
- 18:38Speaker 1: long nails, that's so different. I've usually had short nails
- 18:41Speaker 1: my whole life, but since I've been retired from mixed
- 18:45Speaker 1: martial arts the last couple of years, I can do
- 18:47Speaker 1: things like that, get petticures and you know, be girly
- 18:50Speaker 1: and I am embracing the femininity of Ashlesmith.
- 18:55Speaker 2: You know one thing I've always wanted to ask a fighter,
- 18:57Speaker 2: And I don't want names to you because we don't
- 18:59Speaker 2: want to don't want anyone to feel bad. But on
- 19:02Speaker 2: the subject to feed, like, have you ever bought anyone
- 19:05Speaker 2: that you've gone in to put a leg lock on
- 19:06Speaker 2: or you went up bracklin with him and they've got
- 19:08Speaker 2: smelly feet or really bad bo?
- 19:10Speaker 3: Like, how do you deal with that?
- 19:12Speaker 1: So I have a story, not smelly feet, not not
- 19:16Speaker 1: bad bo. I mean there was bo, but the most
- 19:19Speaker 1: the thing that stuck out the most because my background
- 19:22Speaker 1: is wrestling. So I wrestled on a boys' high school team.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Then I went to college. We had female, full female
- 19:27Speaker 1: team in college, and then got into mixed martial arts.
- 19:30Speaker 4: So backtrack in high school, I'm.
- 19:33Speaker 1: On a boys team. I'm doing, you know, not that great.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I'm getting my ass kicked whatever I go up against.
- 19:38Speaker 1: My first girl in a high school match, and I
- 19:41Speaker 1: was so excited because I was like, finally the playing
- 19:43Speaker 1: field is even I did. She was my first real win,
- 19:47Speaker 1: my first real match that I actually won when I
- 19:51Speaker 1: was like, I don't know, sophomore or something like that.
- 19:53Speaker 4: And I will never.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Forget that this girl had a full armpit bush like,
- 19:59Speaker 1: and I'm you know, you know, I'm gotta like this,
- 20:02Speaker 1: you know, and it's just like in my face and
- 20:04Speaker 1: I can smell it, and I'm like, I.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Want this wind so bad, I don't even care. And
- 20:08Speaker 4: I got the win.
- 20:09Speaker 1: But but that that happened, yeah, you.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Know, but now I've got one more.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Like I searched for agents to try and find a
- 20:19Speaker 2: fighter that would helped heavy raiders connect with you a
- 20:22Speaker 2: little bit more, and I finally found it.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Like if this is a real purge, which is a.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Real ice freely your middle and spot.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Wow, that's okay. This picture is so good because I'm
- 20:35Speaker 1: so young here. I'm actually an amateur MMA fighter, so
- 20:38Speaker 1: I'm definitely graduated from college.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I must be twenty one, twenty two. I probably twenty
- 20:44Speaker 4: two right there.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Yeah, oh man, So this is in Las Vegas on
- 20:48Speaker 1: Freemont Street.
- 20:49Speaker 4: If you guys are not familiar with Fremont Street in Las.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Vegas, it's basically where it would be like the Times
- 20:56Speaker 1: Square of Vegas where you see all the people, or
- 20:58Speaker 1: in Los Angeles it would be the Hollywood Walk of Fame,
- 21:01Speaker 1: and people just dress up crazy and you take pictures.
- 21:04Speaker 1: You pay him a couple of dollars to take a
- 21:05Speaker 1: picture with them. And actually the person taking this picture
- 21:09Speaker 1: is my dad r I P. And it's just so
- 21:12Speaker 1: funny because actually this was all this is such a
- 21:15Speaker 1: great picture. My dad takes this picture, He's gone, love you, dad,
- 21:19Speaker 1: And this was actually an amateur fight and my only
- 21:22Speaker 1: fight that my dad went and saw.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah, not the real life freely No.
- 21:30Speaker 4: And I don't think those boobs are real either.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I was gonna say, but I wasn't gonna say the
- 21:34Speaker 2: just gonna ask if you throw those diamonds were real.
- 21:39Speaker 3: So have you got any prayer rages listeners?
- 21:42Speaker 2: Have you got any any metal friends, any any metal
- 21:44Speaker 2: in the family of any.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Metal? Well?
- 21:48Speaker 1: I do consider him like a brother, but I do
- 21:51Speaker 1: have a homie who plays bass in a popular death
- 21:54Speaker 1: metal band called Suicide Silence, Dan Kenny.
- 21:58Speaker 4: He is my dinghis for I love him so much.
- 22:01Speaker 1: We've been friends for I think like over eleven years
- 22:04Speaker 1: of Instagram memory popped up the other day and yeah,
- 22:07Speaker 1: it's been like at least a decade, which is wild.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And he's a huge MMA fan. He loves I'm trying
- 22:14Speaker 1: to think of his favorite fighter. Actually, I know his
- 22:16Speaker 1: brother's favorite fighter is BJ, but big MMA fan. They
- 22:19Speaker 1: watched the fights all the time. And I had told
- 22:22Speaker 1: you previously that there's a funny, little kind of like
- 22:25Speaker 1: running joke that we have. We always say, like, man,
- 22:28Speaker 1: if I could have any other job, I would have
- 22:30Speaker 1: your job. And he always wants to, you know, be
- 22:32Speaker 1: an MME fighter, which you know, I can't play an instrument.
- 22:34Speaker 4: And I don't think he's going to get into the
- 22:36Speaker 4: cage anytime.
- 22:37Speaker 1: But as far as to dreams, really respect each other's
- 22:40Speaker 1: professions for sure.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Oh that that's just legitimized you to the whole of
- 22:44Speaker 2: us giant rights. So well done.
- 22:47Speaker 3: Oh, thanks very much.
- 22:49Speaker 1: So.
- 22:49Speaker 3: The workout comes out on Amazon about Charbage twenty s.
- 22:52Speaker 3: She's a bloody good film. It's good to see some
- 22:53Speaker 3: real fighters and mayb
