- 0:27Speaker 4: listening to the Big Show brought to you by Reburg Gear.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburg Gear.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Yeah, beautiful.
- 0:39Speaker 4: Speaking of beautiful, look at that stud across the studio
- 0:43Speaker 4: there in his Hodaki sweat. What do we call that?
- 0:47Speaker 4: Swan dry. Swan dry, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's got
- 0:50Speaker 4: his little headphones on. His hair's been tousled by the wind. G'day, Mogi.
- 0:56Speaker 4: How's life?
- 0:56Speaker 6: Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:59Speaker 6: a bee. Yeah, she's a windy.
- 1:02Speaker 4: She is today, yes.
- 1:03Speaker 6: She's a windy mistress out there today, Keezy. Be careful
- 1:07Speaker 6: out there, man. I worry about you in that wind.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Do you?
- 1:09Speaker 5: Why's that?
- 1:09Speaker 6: Yes, I do.
- 1:10Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:10Speaker 6: I just sort of, I could see you getting swept away. No,
- 1:13Speaker 6: I know how to deal with wind. Your wife there, Lucy,
- 1:17Speaker 6: sitting at home worried, sick, calling around the fellas. Have
- 1:20Speaker 6: you seen him? Have you seen him? Oh, no, I'm sorry, Lucy,
- 1:24Speaker 6: I haven't. Has he been out in the wind again? Oh,
- 1:27Speaker 6: I think he has.
- 1:28Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:29Speaker 6: Search team has sent out old Keezy. found pinned against
- 1:34Speaker 6: the back of a supermarket by the rubbish bins. The wind,
- 1:37Speaker 6: too much for him to handle. Okay, was the wind
- 1:39Speaker 6: that pinned me?
- 1:40Speaker 4: The only reason I'm not worried so much as you are, Mogi,
- 1:44Speaker 4: old Keezy's got a massive caboose.
- 1:48Speaker 6: Good stuff, fellas.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It's a good start to the show and a good
- 1:51Speaker 1: start to the week, actually.
- 1:52Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So cheers for that. It's bloody windy out there. My
- 1:55Speaker 1: hair's quite boofy at the moment as well.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Looks great, though, Keezy.
- 1:58Speaker 6: Thanks, mate.
- 1:59Speaker 1: But I tell you what, glowing after another fantastic come-dine-with-me
- 2:03Speaker 1: experience yesterday.
- 2:04Speaker 7: Yes.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Hoity J hosting the fellas. We're certainly going to get
- 2:06Speaker 1: into that. And after 5 o'clock today, we will do
- 2:09Speaker 1: the official scoring. Yeah, man. And Pugs right now is
- 2:12Speaker 1: working on a big video, which we'll put up on
- 2:13Speaker 1: social media, hopefully tonight if he gets it done.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. He's under the pump, old pug son.
- 2:18Speaker 5: He is, man.
- 2:18Speaker 4: God, he's working his ass off here in the studio.
- 2:20Speaker 6: He's got a hell of a hangover as well after yesterday.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 6: It's even more difficult, isn't it, to try and deliver.
- 2:26Speaker 4: He was on it, wasn't he?
- 2:27Speaker 6: Yeah, he was certainly on it.
- 2:29Speaker 4: It was good stuff.
- 2:29Speaker 6: How are you, Jase?
- 2:30Speaker 4: Yeah, good, thanks. Keezy can't complain. I'm feeling pretty good.
- 2:34Speaker 4: A little bit tired.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 4: But, you know, otherwise dandy. Very excited about the show ahead.
- 2:44Speaker 8: What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogi?
- 2:48Speaker 6: Well, fellas, I guess a cat's out of the bag
- 2:50Speaker 6: to some degree, isn't it?
- 2:51Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Come time with the fellas was yesterday. We'll be getting
- 2:54Speaker 6: into the breakdown of that and also the scores. Last time,
- 2:59Speaker 6: we hadn't done it before, so we ended up doing
- 3:00Speaker 6: a couple of breaks that were around about 15 minutes long.
- 3:03Speaker 6: That was too much, according to our boss, so we're
- 3:05Speaker 6: going to break it up a little bit.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Into six breaks.
- 3:07Speaker 6: Also, there'll be a little bit of Charlie Gub chat
- 3:10Speaker 6: with the Waz having played yesterday right in the heart
- 3:12Speaker 6: of Come Dine With Me. And we'll do a sports
- 3:14Speaker 6: rap later as well, the All Blacks.
- 3:19Speaker 4: So much going on, man.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Another chance to get yourself in the draw for Would
- 3:22Speaker 1: You Rather. Cars or Wars. Bathurst will go to the
- 3:25Speaker 1: NRL Grand Final. Listen out for the key to call.
- 3:27Speaker 1: How bloody good of a name.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Time here's Red Hot Chili Peppers.
- 3:32Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Yes, indeed.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Arctic Monkeys there on the Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon.
- 3:41Speaker 4: The time is 12 minutes past 4 o'clock. And obviously
- 3:44Speaker 4: last night, well, yesterday afternoon, let's be accurate, was... The
- 3:48Speaker 4: second rendition of Come Dine With The Fellas.
- 3:51Speaker 9: Yes.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Come Dine With.
- 3:55Speaker 4: The Fellas.
- 3:58Speaker 1: If you'd like to see a photo of us all,
- 4:00Speaker 1: we're at Horty J's place. Check out the Hauraki Big
- 4:02Speaker 1: Show's Instagram. And basically what we're doing is each taking
- 4:05Speaker 1: turns hosting everyone and their partners. We then score each other,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and it's about who can put on the best dinner party.
- 4:10Speaker 6: We've done Mogi.
- 4:12Speaker 9: Yep.
- 4:13Speaker 6: And it was Horty J's turn yesterday.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Yuck. I mean, it was lovely having you all team.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Really enjoyed it. I'm a little bit emotional. Yeah. You know,
- 4:29Speaker 4: I don't want to sort of bang on about it
- 4:30Speaker 4: or make an issue of it. Just something happened during
- 4:35Speaker 4: the course of the afternoon.
- 4:37Speaker 1: So we are going to address it?
- 4:39Speaker 4: Well, I mean, we don't have to.
- 4:40Speaker 1: No, I just assumed we wouldn't because it was so like.
- 4:44Speaker 6: I think we have to.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Well, I feel like getting things out in the open
- 4:49Speaker 4: is the best way to do it sometimes.
- 4:50Speaker 6: Yeah, 100%.
- 4:51Speaker 4: And I don't want to hang anyone out to dry here.
- 4:53Speaker 6: No, that's not what we're about.
- 4:54Speaker 4: No.
- 4:56Speaker 6: But pugs.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Well, I'm actually a bit emotional.
- 5:02Speaker 1: So, Jase's theme was late winter Christmas.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And, you know, all the decorations are up the Christmas tree.
- 5:10Speaker 1: They're wearing outfits and hats. We've all got hats and stuff.
- 5:13Speaker 1: It's really nice. And your entertainment was a game of
- 5:16Speaker 1: Secret Santa, wasn't it, man?
- 5:17Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 5:19Speaker 1: And it was really thoughtful. You'd handmade all the presents
- 5:21Speaker 1: and written little vouchers and stuff. It was really cool.
- 5:26Speaker 6: Maybe you'd be best, Mogi, to.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Well, I mean, we're sitting there. Everyone's sitting around. And,
- 5:31Speaker 6: of course, it's not just that we're a group of very,
- 5:35Speaker 6: very close friends all coming together with our partners. You know,
- 5:40Speaker 6: it's also got to be filmed for social media. Yeah. Now,
- 5:43Speaker 6: Pug's son is our social media content producer. He films
- 5:46Speaker 6: it all. He edits it all. He does a bloody
- 5:48Speaker 6: marvellous job. He's bloody good at it. And this is
- 5:50Speaker 6: prime time. This is right when Pug's needs to get
- 5:53Speaker 6: to work. And as we're opening all of these presents
- 5:55Speaker 6: during Secret Santa, all of a sudden, Pug's just vanishes.
- 5:59Speaker 6: And I think I was just popped off to the bathroom.
- 6:01Speaker 6: But as the time ticks by, one minute, two minute, five, 10, 20,
- 6:06Speaker 6: an hour, two hours and no sign of Pugs, sort
- 6:11Speaker 6: of the questions start being asked. Where is he?
- 6:14Speaker 4: Where is he? I want to be honest with you
- 6:16Speaker 4: because I want to tell a little secret about Pugs
- 6:19Speaker 4: here because when he was a young fella, he had
- 6:24Speaker 4: a very unfortunate situation with a leg of ham in
- 6:28Speaker 4: the sense that he caught some sort of bug.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Oh, did he eat an old ham?
- 6:33Speaker 6: I remember that.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Might have been an old ham or something like that.
- 6:36Speaker 4: Ended up in hospital. Poisoning. And, of course, we had
- 6:41Speaker 4: a leg of ham for, you know, the Christmas party.
- 6:44Speaker 4: And I was like, oh, my God.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Have I poisoned Pugsons?
- 6:48Speaker 1: He's too polite to say.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, he is.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I can't have ham.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Well, this is the thing about Pugs. He's a very
- 6:53Speaker 4: polite man.
- 6:54Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 4: But you're right, Margie. It was two minutes, five minutes,
- 6:58Speaker 4: ten minutes, fifteen minutes. And this is in the middle
- 7:01Speaker 4: of my entertainment section.
- 7:03Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly.
- 7:04Speaker 5: I know.
- 7:04Speaker 6: That's what I really.
- 7:05Speaker 1: It brought the mood down a wee bit because he
- 7:07Speaker 1: waited till his turn for Secret Santa and then was like,
- 7:09Speaker 1: all right, gave his phone to his partner to film
- 7:12Speaker 1: the rest.
- 7:13Speaker 4: And he'd run out of storage.
- 7:14Speaker 6: Well, we just thought that he would be back in
- 7:16Speaker 6: a minute. But, you know, to me, it's just I worry,
- 7:19Speaker 6: you know, about how properly he was brought up. Because
- 7:23Speaker 6: rule number one before you go around to somebody else's
- 7:25Speaker 6: house for a dinner party is you take a steamer.
- 7:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 6: At home first.
- 7:30Speaker 4: You drop the bomb before you go out.
- 7:32Speaker 6: Before you go. You don't go around to somebody's house,
- 7:34Speaker 6: have a couple of, you know, have something to eat
- 7:36Speaker 6: and then go into, and this is the other thing,
- 7:38Speaker 6: go into your en suite, your personal space, and just
- 7:42Speaker 6: drop in bombs.
- 7:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 6: A secret steamer. Like, what are we doing? What are
- 7:48Speaker 6: we doing? I.
- 7:49Speaker 4: You know, I don't want to make too big a
- 7:50Speaker 4: thing of this.
- 7:51Speaker 6: No, I don't think you are. Neither do I.
- 7:53Speaker 4: But it was like he took the whole vibe and
- 7:57Speaker 4: atmosphere of the party into the toilet with him.
- 7:59Speaker 6: Oh, absolutely.
- 7:59Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 8:00Speaker 6: I mean, you've got your cat there, Jizz.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:03Speaker 6: And Jizz came out of your bedroom with a look
- 8:06Speaker 6: of pure shock. Shell shock. Shell shock.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Can I just say.
- 8:10Speaker 6: She was actually... sort of almost limping, just couldn't walk
- 8:16Speaker 6: in a straight line.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Yeah, she was woozy.
- 8:17Speaker 6: Yeah, woozy.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Can I just say she's very fond of pugs too.
- 8:21Speaker 4: So she was shocked.
- 8:25Speaker 1: He certainly took the party in there with him. It
- 8:26Speaker 1: sounded like there was a party in there. It was
- 8:29Speaker 1: all go. But I guess we'll bring pugs in next
- 8:31Speaker 1: just to sort of get an explanation.
- 8:33Speaker 6: See what he was thinking.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Well, I think so. I'd feel better about it if
- 8:37Speaker 4: I knew what happened.
- 8:38Speaker 6: He told me on the quiet that he was making
- 8:41Speaker 6: room for dessert, which I thought was completely distasteful. That
- 8:44Speaker 6: is disgusting.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Stereophonics.
- 8:50Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:53Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 8:56Speaker 4: He's indeed silver chair there on the Hauraki Big Show
- 8:59Speaker 4: this Monday afternoon. The time is 26 minutes past 4 o'clock.
- 9:02Speaker 4: As mentioned, it was Come Dine with the Fellas Horty
- 9:05Speaker 4: J edition yesterday.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Come Dine with.
- 9:11Speaker 6: The Fellas.
- 9:13Speaker 4: And there was a moment of stunning controversy. One of
- 9:18Speaker 4: the segments of the competition is entertainment.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Yeah, so you've got your entree, your main, your dessert,
- 9:25Speaker 1: and then the fourth one is entertainment. Each of us
- 9:28Speaker 1: is hosting a dinner party, and you have to do
- 9:29Speaker 1: something fun.
- 9:30Speaker 4: That's right.
- 9:31Speaker 6: And, of course, you did your secret sander, Hoiti J.
- 9:34Speaker 6: A big part of that, of course, is it has
- 9:35Speaker 6: to go up on social media. The person that shoots
- 9:38Speaker 6: the social media is Pugsarn. And then halfway through, inexplicably,
- 9:44Speaker 6: Pugsan disappeared. Yeah. Pugs, g'day, man.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Ooh, it's Pugsan.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Afternoon.
- 9:53Speaker 8: Afternoon, fellas.
- 9:54Speaker 6: How are we? Talk us through it, man. Talk us
- 9:56Speaker 6: through it. How are you doing?
- 9:57Speaker 4: What was going on?
- 9:58Speaker 6: What was going through your head?
- 9:59Speaker 4: What happened?
- 10:00Speaker 8: Casey, have you got the apology music, man?
- 10:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, sure do.
- 10:06Speaker 8: Fellas, I had such a beautiful experience yesterday.
- 10:13Speaker 10: I felt so lucky to be there with all of you,
- 10:15Speaker 10: but especially with you, Jase, because your hospitality was magnificent.
- 10:20Speaker 8: And I'll get into my scoring later, but.
- 10:24Speaker 8: We got to the... We got to the entertainment. And something...
- 10:31Speaker 8: Something happened inside me.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 8: And I can't really describe it.
- 10:38Speaker 10: And I'm not sure whether it's trauma from the incident
- 10:41Speaker 10: that I told you about in Confidence.
- 10:43Speaker 1: When you were a kid and you ate too much ham.
- 10:45Speaker 1: That's right.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Many years ago now.
- 10:49Speaker 4: And.
- 10:50Speaker 3: I ignored it.
- 10:52Speaker 10: I ignored it as best I could for as long
- 10:55Speaker 10: as I could. And then I thought, I can either
- 11:01Speaker 10: do kind of a.
- 11:02Speaker 8: Bad job with this filming and.
- 11:04Speaker 10: My participation in the evening for the rest of the
- 11:07Speaker 10: night fighting this thing, or I can make a swift,
- 11:11Speaker 10: what I thought was swift, exit and return a full pugs.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Was it 35 minutes?
- 11:18Speaker 4: Well, a less full pugs. I think that's an example.
- 11:20Speaker 6: I think that's an exaggeration.
- 11:21Speaker 1: So you opted to grab the bull by the horns.
- 11:24Speaker 8: That's right. I'm trying to be more assertive in moments
- 11:28Speaker 8: like that. And not suffer in silence.
- 11:30Speaker 6: Well, look, it was a disaster, wasn't it?
- 11:32Speaker 5: What?
- 11:33Speaker 6: In your mind, you sort of think to yourself, I'll
- 11:35Speaker 6: pop out, I'll be gone for a couple of minutes there.
- 11:37Speaker 6: But it was, and no word of a lie here,
- 11:40Speaker 6: it was at least 20 minutes. At least. Now, you
- 11:45Speaker 6: must have been in a state of panic, thinking to yourself,
- 11:47Speaker 6: this should be over by now. My absence is going
- 11:50Speaker 6: to be missed and commented upon.
- 11:54Speaker 8: Like, particularly the latter.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Doing poos. Like, it was quite clear.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 6: Everybody knew what you were doing. And actually, we started
- 12:07Speaker 6: a Pugsan chant. Pugsan, Pugsan. We applauded you when you
- 12:12Speaker 6: came back in. No, I appreciate that. We made it
- 12:14Speaker 6: a real focus of the afternoon.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Yes.
- 12:17Speaker 6: So you were, in effect, part of the entertainment as well.
- 12:20Speaker 8: And for that, you're welcome.
- 12:21Speaker 6: But what's ended up happening is, and we'll get to
- 12:23Speaker 6: the scores later, I mean, how can that have a
- 12:25Speaker 6: positive effect on Hoare J's score? You've dragged the scores
- 12:28Speaker 6: down for Hoare J.
- 12:30Speaker 4: I don't know about that. My scores went into the
- 12:33Speaker 4: toilet bowl with your massive steamer.
- 12:41Speaker 3: All I can say.
- 12:44Speaker 8: I apologise to you, Jase, and your lovely partner.
- 12:47Speaker 9: Yes.
- 12:48Speaker 6: Why did you use the en suite?
- 12:51Speaker 4: Well, actually, I'd prefer he used the en suite.
- 12:53Speaker 7: Why?
- 12:53Speaker 4: Really? Because the other one was weird.
- 12:55Speaker 6: With an air shot.
- 12:56Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:57Speaker 8: I mean, well, could you imagine?
- 13:00Speaker 4: Could you imagine? No, I was slightly concerned that we
- 13:03Speaker 4: were having a ham scenario.
- 13:05Speaker 8: You know what?
- 13:06Speaker 10: I maybe overestimated my recovery on that front and the
- 13:10Speaker 10: trauma that that caused me, that hospital incident.
- 13:13Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 13:14Speaker 8: Well, medical event.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I think, fellas, what's important now is that we all
- 13:18Speaker 1: move forward.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Thanks, guys.
- 13:19Speaker 1: You've admitted to it. And obviously, fellas, it goes without
- 13:22Speaker 1: saying that this just stays between us.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Yeah, totally.
- 13:24Speaker 6: Thanks, guys.
- 13:25Speaker 8: I appreciate it.
- 13:25Speaker 4: And you're all G now?
- 13:27Speaker 8: Sorry, I've actually got to go.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Yeah, okay.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Go on, boys.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Get on you, mate.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Full scores for Come Dine With Me After Five.
- 13:33Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 13:36Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Yes, indeed. Soundgarden there on the Hodaki Big Show this
- 13:42Speaker 4: Monday afternoon. The time is 4.39. Obviously, there was a
- 13:46Speaker 4: bit of rugby league action over the weekend, specifically yesterday.
- 13:50Speaker 4: With that in mind... We need a professional, fellas. We
- 13:54Speaker 4: need a fella that knows his stuff, so we've got
- 13:57Speaker 4: rugby league legend Charlie Gubb on the phone. G'day, Charlie,
- 14:01Speaker 4: you mad bastard. How's life?
- 14:04Speaker 5: Life's good, fellas. Ask me anything.
- 14:06Speaker 4: Bloody oath.
- 14:08Speaker 6: How do you do it, Charlie? That's my question for you, man.
- 14:10Speaker 6: How do you do it? Every day you get up,
- 14:13Speaker 6: every day you knock.
- 14:14Speaker 4: It out of the park, brother.
- 14:15Speaker 6: What's the secret?
- 14:18Speaker 9: Um.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Well, I mean.
- 14:21Speaker 6: I guess it's a secret, right?
- 14:22Speaker 7: Getting up, getting up, taking that. As soon as that
- 14:25Speaker 7: alarm goes off, you just put your feet on the
- 14:27Speaker 7: floor with bad intentions, brother.
- 14:29Speaker 6: Yeah, man. Now you're talking. Do you put your panties
- 14:31Speaker 6: on one leg at a time?
- 14:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:34Speaker 7: If I'm doing it myself, I do, yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Hey, Charlie Kesey here, man. Hope you're well.
- 14:40Speaker 5: I'm good, Keezy.
- 14:41Speaker 7: I'm actually a bit hungover from all the pride I
- 14:43Speaker 7: felt over the weekend.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Charlie, obviously the Waas took on the Newcastle Knights, who
- 14:49Speaker 1: are sixth on the ladder. We were in first spot.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Two games were left in the season. Another win for
- 14:54Speaker 1: the Waas. And at the last minute, both of our halves,
- 14:58Speaker 1: Tamati Martin and Shana Harris-DeVita, were ruled out. So we
- 15:00Speaker 1: got to see the debut of Jet Cleary, younger brother
- 15:03Speaker 1: of best player in the world, Nathan Cleary.
- 15:05Speaker 6: How did you find his debut?
- 15:08Speaker 5: He had a great debut. It's almost like a dream debut.
- 15:13Speaker 7: He had a lot of big moments. He got hit
- 15:15Speaker 7: hard a few times. His family was there, sold out crowd.
- 15:20Speaker 7: Had some nice touches. He ran the ball well. I
- 15:24Speaker 7: wasn't watching him super closely, but maybe he had a
- 15:28Speaker 7: few defensive errors, but he had a really good debut.
- 15:30Speaker 5: I don't know, just a lot of awe around that family.
- 15:34Speaker 6: It's not bad, is it, Charlie? That is now the
- 15:37Speaker 6: fifth halfback that we have run out onto the field
- 15:39Speaker 6: this year.
- 15:40Speaker 7: Amazing.
- 15:40Speaker 6: And we still managed to find ourselves sitting atop the
- 15:43Speaker 6: table with one round to go. I don't know, man,
- 15:47Speaker 6: but it feels like this year could be our year.
- 15:49Speaker 5: It is, man. It is our year. We've done the
- 15:53Speaker 5: hard job now securing a home semi.
- 15:55Speaker 7: That means someone's got to come over here and play us.
- 15:58Speaker 7: Then we get a week off after we spank him, but... Yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 7: that is just a very special year to be a
- 16:04Speaker 7: Warriors fan.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Can I ask you, Gabby, with the home semi, how
- 16:09Speaker 4: are we looking injury-wise? Have we got some backbones coming
- 16:13Speaker 4: back from injury around that time?
- 16:16Speaker 7: I think we do, but the thing that me, Mogi
- 16:19Speaker 7: and Keezy have been doing, we're not looking at who's
- 16:23Speaker 7: coming back.
- 16:23Speaker 5: We're looking at who's in there now.
- 16:25Speaker 6: That's right.
- 16:26Speaker 7: We've got the team to do it. Ideally, we've got
- 16:28Speaker 7: guys coming back, but we don't care, mate.
- 16:30Speaker 5: We don't care.
- 16:31Speaker 4: Well said, mate. Well, I was just trying to be
- 16:33Speaker 4: part of a team, Gabby.
- 16:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I know.
- 16:36Speaker 4: I was just trying to contribute.
- 16:37Speaker 6: I'd love to get your thoughts on something there, Gabby,
- 16:41Speaker 6: and that is Jackson Ford. It's a difficult one, isn't it,
- 16:44Speaker 6: because you've got, You know, essentially you've got Jackson Ford
- 16:47Speaker 6: who's been out injured. He's leading the Delemes, but for
- 16:50Speaker 6: me it's the same situation as having a Metcalf where
- 16:52Speaker 6: he's going to have to wait for his opportunity when
- 16:54Speaker 6: he comes back. You don't want to rock the apple cart.
- 16:58Speaker 6: You can't sort of bugger around with what we've got.
- 17:00Speaker 6: The bench is working perfectly with the starters. It's going
- 17:04Speaker 6: to be interesting to see what they do when he
- 17:06Speaker 6: becomes available during the finals time. What would you do?
- 17:09Speaker 6: It's a good problem to have, let me put it
- 17:10Speaker 6: that way.
- 17:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I think I'd have him on that extended bench.
- 17:15Speaker 7: A lot can change in a week.
- 17:17Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 17:18Speaker 7: Even in a game, you could have a starter go
- 17:21Speaker 7: down with a head knock. You'd probably put Jackson Ford
- 17:23Speaker 7: on because he plays that starting role. He just goes non-stop.
- 17:27Speaker 7: His line speed is persistent, whereas I do like having
- 17:32Speaker 7: Dimitric and... Tanner Stow was coming off the bench because
- 17:35Speaker 7: they probably bring a bit more impact there in the
- 17:37Speaker 7: backs and forth. Maybe they don't, but it looks like
- 17:40Speaker 7: they do. And even that young Eddie boy, I forget
- 17:43Speaker 7: his last name, the CT.
- 17:44Speaker 6: Iremia Toyava. Iremia Toyava, yeah.
- 17:47Speaker 5: Iremia Toyava because he's got just.
- 17:49Speaker 7: He's got something a little bit different, like a bit
- 17:52Speaker 7: of X factor, and he's fit as well.
- 17:54Speaker 5: So I think you just sit him on the extended bench.
- 17:57Speaker 6: I agree.
- 17:58Speaker 5: I think we're in a good spot.
- 17:59Speaker 7: When Jackson Ford went down, I thought maybe that would
- 18:02Speaker 7: be the straw that broke the camel's back for us,
- 18:04Speaker 7: but it's not.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Wasn't to be.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Hey, Charlie Gubb, former Warrior, is there a part of you, man,
- 18:09Speaker 1: that is like, oh, I'd give my left testy to
- 18:12Speaker 1: be out there playing with the fellas this season?
- 18:15Speaker 5: Nah, man, I'd be knocking around a New South Wales Cup.
- 18:19Speaker 5: Taking all sorts of gaffes.
- 18:23Speaker 6: Well said.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Before we let you go, Charlie, of course we have
- 18:27Speaker 1: to get your Porter King player of the round.
- 18:32Speaker 7: I'm going to give it to Aaron Clark. I thought
- 18:35Speaker 7: he was huge again, and he just... Every week he
- 18:39Speaker 7: just turns up and he's just huge through the middle.
- 18:41Speaker 7: I think there's not a better 13 in the comp.
- 18:43Speaker 6: He's a mad dog. He's a mad dog. And before
- 18:45Speaker 6: we let you go, Charlie, a little bird tells me
- 18:49Speaker 6: that you're going to be up in Auckland this weekend.
- 18:50Speaker 6: Any chance we can get you live in the studio
- 18:53Speaker 6: on the big show Friday afternoon, mate?
- 18:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean.
- 18:57Speaker 7: Everyone's got a price, right?
- 18:59Speaker 4: Come on.
- 19:00Speaker 6: Free burger, come to the table. Yeah, fair enough, Charlie.
- 19:03Speaker 6: We'll have a chat to your people, mate.
- 19:05Speaker 1: But as per, if you're in the Wellington region and
- 19:07Speaker 1: you need a port-a-loo, hit up Uncle Charlie at Port-A-King
- 19:10Speaker 1: and he'll see you right.
- 19:11Speaker 6: We'll chat soon, Charlie.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Yeah, fellas, see you Thursday if the price is right.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you, mates. Here's the Strokes.
- 19:19Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 19:22Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Guns, roses there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 19:29Speaker 4: Monday afternoon. The time is 4.53, which means it's time
- 19:33Speaker 4: for a bit of TV chat. What's on the telly
- 19:38Speaker 4: with Mike Minogue.
- 19:43Speaker 6: Yes! Sorry about that. Fellas have got carried away.
- 19:49Speaker 4: That's okay, man. I love your enthusiasm.
- 19:54Speaker 6: Yesterday I went to the movie theater and I saw
- 19:57Speaker 6: a movie. Odyssey, you might ask. No, says I. I
- 20:02Speaker 6: saw Paw Patrol, the dino movie. The pups crash land
- 20:08Speaker 6: on a hidden dinosaur island after a storm and meet Rex.
- 20:12Speaker 6: a stranded pup and dinosaur expert. They must stop Mayor
- 20:16Speaker 6: Humdinger from reckless mining that triggers a volcano.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Oh, drama.
- 20:22Speaker 6: It's interesting stuff, actually. What's really interesting about it is
- 20:25Speaker 6: they discover this island. It's got lots of dinosaurs on it.
- 20:28Speaker 6: You heard about it just there. And then they try
- 20:31Speaker 6: to protect, they bring in a whole bunch of scientists
- 20:33Speaker 6: to protect this island, which has existed for millions of years.
- 20:38Speaker 6: And then, of course, they come over, and then the
- 20:40Speaker 6: whole thing turns into a disaster. It would have been
- 20:42Speaker 6: better for the Paw Patrol to just piss off and
- 20:45Speaker 6: leave them alone.
- 20:46Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 20:46Speaker 6: Because they'd survived this long.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 6: They got involved. Next thing you know, there's a bloody volcano.
- 20:52Speaker 6: It's absolutely going off. So it's Paw Patrol's fault. It's 100%
- 20:55Speaker 6: Paw Patrol's fault, and I think they should be held
- 20:57Speaker 6: to account. Now, that said, all the kids were there
- 21:00Speaker 6: sprinting up and down underneath the screen to try and
- 21:03Speaker 6: burn off some of the sugar that was coming from
- 21:05Speaker 6: all the soda and ice creams and lollies yes just
- 21:08Speaker 6: sprinting left to right um they absolutely loved it and
- 21:12Speaker 6: actually i managed to sit through it was about an
- 21:13Speaker 6: hour 20 long not too bad uh enjoyed myself got
- 21:16Speaker 6: to hang out with my kid and you can only
- 21:18Speaker 6: give an experience like that five buzzies out of five
- 21:21Speaker 6: um it's going to be released on the 17th of
- 21:23Speaker 6: september if you've got young kids get along any of
- 21:26Speaker 6: your kids that like paw patrol great movie.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Wow that's a huge preview that's 17 days away Yes.
- 21:32Speaker 6: No, very long way out.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 6: But the cinema was absolutely rammed.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Fellas, I've got to be honest with you. I don't
- 21:39Speaker 4: really have a lot to share because I did the
- 21:41Speaker 4: Samsung shuffle, as I call it.
- 21:43Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Where I just go from movie to movie to movie
- 21:46Speaker 4: to movie and just watch like five minute clips of each.
- 21:49Speaker 4: I couldn't focus.
- 21:50Speaker 6: You normally do the five knuckle shuffle.
- 21:53Speaker 4: Sometimes. Depends what's going on. What is that? I'm not
- 22:00Speaker 4: sure either, and I'm not sure that I should have
- 22:03Speaker 4: said sometimes.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I think it's punching someone, but I'm not.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Oh, is it?
- 22:06Speaker 7: No.
- 22:06Speaker 4: Okay, never mind. Yeah, good, because I suddenly did think that.
- 22:10Speaker 4: So I've got nothing specific to, you know, wax lyrical about.
- 22:15Speaker 7: Right.
- 22:17Speaker 1: On Friday night, I went and watched Cirque du Soleil,
- 22:21Speaker 1: the Alice in Wonderland edition.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Yes. I'm going to talk about that tomorrow. Oh, are
- 22:26Speaker 6: you going to? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I'll talk about it now really quick.
- 22:27Speaker 6: You talk about it today, yeah.
- 22:28Speaker 10: Very stressful.
- 22:28Speaker 6: Very stressful.
- 22:29Speaker 1: But amazing.
- 22:30Speaker 6: I've seen, that's probably my fifth Cirque du Soleil show.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Yes.
- 22:35Speaker 1: And going out to the theatre after work on a
- 22:39Speaker 1: Friday is lovely. You know, you go and you grab
- 22:41Speaker 1: a quick meal and you go to the theatre and
- 22:43Speaker 1: have a glass of wine and watch a show. It's
- 22:44Speaker 1: really nice.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:45Speaker 6: We love doing that sort of stuff.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I give that show 4.2 buzzies out of 5.
- 22:50Speaker 6: Very, very entertaining. Very stressful as well.
- 22:52Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Stressful because you think people are going to die.
- 22:55Speaker 6: That's right.
- 22:55Speaker 1: You're like, if they do stuff this up, one of
- 22:57Speaker 1: them will die.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 6: But they don't.
- 22:59Speaker 7: Yes.
- 23:00Speaker 6: And that's what makes it brilliant. Cirque Alice. I think
- 23:02Speaker 6: the tickets are still available now. Absolutely. It goes for
- 23:04Speaker 6: a couple of weeks, I think. Get stuck into it.
- 23:06Speaker 6: Very entertaining.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Can I get free tickets somewhere? Who do I need
- 23:09Speaker 4: to contact?
- 23:10Speaker 6: They're worried that you won't show up.
- 23:12Speaker 4: I always show up, Maggie. Always. Hey, heaps coming up
- 23:17Speaker 4: after five o'clock.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Including the official scores of Hoity J's Come Dine With Me.
- 23:23Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 23:29Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 23:32Speaker 4: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Monday's going off.
- 23:36Speaker 4: You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally, brought to you
- 23:38Speaker 4: by Reburg Air.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change
- 23:43Speaker 1: the game.
- 23:43Speaker 9: Whee!
- 23:46Speaker 4: Yeah man.
- 23:47Speaker 6: Exciting times coming up fellas.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Dishing out the scores for Horty J's Come Dine with me.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Dishing them out. Dishing them out.
- 23:53Speaker 9: Nice.
- 23:54Speaker 4: That was good stuff, KC.
- 23:55Speaker 9: Hey.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Accident.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Dish, dish, dish.
- 23:59Speaker 6: Good stuff. How are you feeling, J? A bit nervous, man?
- 24:01Speaker 5: No, not at all.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Really? No, I'm not nervous at all. I mean, the
- 24:05Speaker 4: scores are the scores. It's just lovely having the fouls over.
- 24:08Speaker 6: That's how I felt about it as well. To be
- 24:10Speaker 6: honest with you, it feels a bit weird scoring.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:13Speaker 6: It does. The thing that we don't score on because
- 24:15Speaker 6: we judge on entree, main, dessert, and entertainment, What we
- 24:21Speaker 6: don't do a score on is how much we've enjoyed ourselves.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Do you know what I mean?
- 24:24Speaker 6: You're judging on these other things as opposed to how
- 24:28Speaker 6: much did you enjoy yourself. I think we'd all just
- 24:30Speaker 6: give out 10s every time.
- 24:32Speaker 8: 100%.
- 24:32Speaker 6: Well, I don't know. So far, I would. Horty J
- 24:35Speaker 6: is absolutely 10. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you don't get
- 24:37Speaker 6: a score on that, man. But who knows? Potentially, Keezy,
- 24:41Speaker 6: you might be next. Who knows if you're going to
- 24:44Speaker 6: be a 10. I don't know what's going to happen.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I'd say so.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd say so. I'm very, very confident, Keezy, you'll
- 24:50Speaker 4: be a 10.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Before we get into it, Jase, we'll be giving the
- 24:53Speaker 1: scores out shortly. Is there anything you would have done differently?
- 24:56Speaker 4: No, I don't think so.
- 24:56Speaker 7: Wow.
- 24:56Speaker 6: You think you left it all out there? You did
- 24:58Speaker 6: your best?
- 24:58Speaker 4: Yeah, look, you know, some things didn't quite come out
- 25:01Speaker 4: as hoped, but, you know, that's all good.
- 25:04Speaker 6: It is.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Yeah, no, you did a great job. We'll get into
- 25:06Speaker 1: the scoring next.
- 25:07Speaker 6: Beautiful.
- 25:08Speaker 4: In the meantime, here's Kings of Leon.
- 25:10Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Alison Chains there
- 25:18Speaker 4: on the Hodaki Big Show this Monday afternoon. The time
- 25:22Speaker 4: is 14 minutes past five o'clock, which means it's time.
- 25:26Speaker 3: For Come Dine With.
- 25:31Speaker 4: The Fellas.
- 25:34Speaker 6: That's right.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Yesterday, JSU hosted The Fellas in the second episode of
- 25:38Speaker 1: Come Dine With The Fellas. Mogi, you were first about
- 25:40Speaker 1: a month ago. You hosted us. We then scored you
- 25:42Speaker 1: on four categories yesterday. Entree, main, dessert, entertainment. Jase, we're
- 25:46Speaker 1: now about to score you on those same categories.
- 25:48Speaker 6: Okay.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yesterday's dinner theme was late winter Christmas slash WA's viewing party.
- 25:54Speaker 6: That's right.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Oh, was that part of the, was it?
- 25:56Speaker 6: That's how I saw it. Well, eventually it became that.
- 25:59Speaker 6: And I guess it's also important to point out That
- 26:03Speaker 6: last time that we did the scoring, it sort of
- 26:05Speaker 6: dragged out a bit. So we're going to review the
- 26:07Speaker 6: entree and the main.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:09Speaker 6: And then in the next break, we're going to talk
- 26:10Speaker 6: about the dessert and the entertainment. Does that sound good
- 26:13Speaker 6: to you, Pugsun? Pugsun to you.
- 26:14Speaker 10: So good.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Oh, hey, Pugsun's here.
- 26:17Speaker 4: Hello.
- 26:17Speaker 7: Pugsun.
- 26:18Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 26:20Speaker 6: Hey, fellas.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Thanks for having me.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Yeah, pleasure, man. Pleasure. Always a pleasure to have you, Pugs.
- 26:25Speaker 6: You're not here very often, Pugs. Would you like to
- 26:27Speaker 6: lead off with your scores, man?
- 26:29Speaker 8: Yeah, absolutely. And let me just start by saying this.
- 26:32Speaker 10: I hope that no insular incidents that happened at the
- 26:36Speaker 10: event have anything to do with your guys' scores.
- 26:38Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 8: Because it certainly didn't affect mine.
- 26:40Speaker 3: All right?
- 26:41Speaker 1: You're talking about you doing poo in the middle of
- 26:42Speaker 1: Secret Santa?
- 26:43Speaker 4: What's that?
- 26:45Speaker 8: So we're doing entree and main.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Entree and main. We'll do entree first, we'll go around,
- 26:49Speaker 6: and then we'll go around with the main.
- 26:50Speaker 10: Jase, that entree was unbelievable. I was very curious about
- 26:54Speaker 10: having a savoury cheesecake. That was a first for me,
- 26:56Speaker 10: so you've introduced me to something new, which is always
- 26:58Speaker 10: a plus. And then you had something that was really...
- 27:03Speaker 10: You can't fail a delicious, cheesy, garlicky, beautiful bread.
- 27:07Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 27:08Speaker 8: But you themed it. You themed it with the Christmas
- 27:11Speaker 8: tree shape there.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Yes.
- 27:12Speaker 10: And I chowed down on both of those bad boys. Like,
- 27:16Speaker 10: nobody's business. So for that reason, I have given your
- 27:19Speaker 10: entree an 8.5 out of 10.
- 27:21Speaker 6: Oh, we're not doing halves.
- 27:23Speaker 4: No halves.
- 27:24Speaker 8: Oh, I didn't get the heads up on that.
- 27:26Speaker 6: We did do halves last time, didn't we?
- 27:29Speaker 8: No halves.
- 27:30Speaker 4: I'll go an 8. There you go. Good on you, mate.
- 27:33Speaker 5: Okay.
- 27:35Speaker 6: Ditto.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Right up my alley, cheesy, garlicky, bready, heavy carb-y.
- 27:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Pull-apart Christmas tree and some little savory cheesecakes, a little
- 27:45Speaker 1: tamati and a little basil on there. I gave your
- 27:47Speaker 1: entree a 9 out of 10.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Genuinely, both of those things.
- 27:51Speaker 6: If you had said that's all we're eating tonight, I
- 27:52Speaker 6: would have been like, good as gold. A magnificent entree,
- 27:56Speaker 6: Hoity J. Fiddly to make.
- 27:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it was fiddly.
- 27:59Speaker 6: Can you tell me about those cheesecakes? Was that homemade
- 28:01Speaker 6: or they came in a packet?
- 28:03Speaker 4: No, they were definitely homemade.
- 28:05Speaker 3: Good question.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I'll tell you, Mogi, the difference between a savoury cheesecake
- 28:11Speaker 4: and your Stanley cheesecake is the base is made of
- 28:14Speaker 4: crackers rather than your biscuit.
- 28:18Speaker 5: Ah. Okay.
- 28:19Speaker 7: Ah.
- 28:20Speaker 5: You see?
- 28:20Speaker 4: There you go.
- 28:21Speaker 6: No, they're very yum and very fiddly. The only sort
- 28:25Speaker 6: of thing that brought it down on it was a
- 28:26Speaker 6: couple of things there, but just so I've given a
- 28:28Speaker 6: bit of feedback here. Number one was I found it
- 28:30Speaker 6: could have been a bit crispier, the bread, which was delicious.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Yes, I agree.
- 28:33Speaker 6: And I was trying to make my way to the
- 28:34Speaker 6: cheese and garlic, but it was in the middle, and
- 28:35Speaker 6: I kept on getting bits around the edge. That was
- 28:37Speaker 6: my fault. But also the sort of hushed arguments that
- 28:40Speaker 6: were going on between your wife and yourself in the
- 28:43Speaker 6: kitchen there as you originally tried to get them out.
- 28:45Speaker 6: That made things quite awkward for us because the kitchen's
- 28:48Speaker 6: right next to where we were all sitting and all
- 28:51Speaker 6: of us sort of felt I mean, it was getting
- 28:54Speaker 6: very heated.
- 28:54Speaker 4: There was some quite coarse language. Yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 1: If only the Christmas tree had been that heated, you know?
- 28:59Speaker 6: That's right. So for that reason, I also gave your
- 29:02Speaker 6: entree an eight.
- 29:03Speaker 4: Yeah, sure, mate. Yeah, sorry about that. I'm pretty passionate
- 29:07Speaker 4: in the old kitchen there.
- 29:10Speaker 6: That's all right, Jase.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I mean, two eights and a nine, pretty good.
- 29:12Speaker 8: Yeah, really good.
- 29:14Speaker 10: So we move on to my score for the main. Now,
- 29:15Speaker 10: as I said yesterday, you went the extra mile.
- 29:18Speaker 8: I had the only vegetarian with me. That's my partner.
- 29:21Speaker 10: And you went all out to accommodate her, which I
- 29:24Speaker 10: really appreciated.
- 29:25Speaker 8: So bonus points there.
- 29:26Speaker 10: You had the cauliflower and you had non-duck fat potatoes,
- 29:30Speaker 10: which that's a hell of a lot of admin when
- 29:31Speaker 10: you already had a lot of moving parts.
- 29:34Speaker 8: The ham, beautifully cooked.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Thanks.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Man.
- 29:36Speaker 10: And I really enjoyed it. It was delicious.
- 29:40Speaker 8: And that's a hell.
- 29:42Speaker 10: Of a lot to handle when you've got a room
- 29:43Speaker 10: full of backbones just yelling at you and you're trying
- 29:46Speaker 10: to get everything on the table in time.
- 29:48Speaker 8: So I've given, for that reason, those reasons, I've given
- 29:50Speaker 8: your main a nine.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Thanks, mate.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Wow, a 9 out of 10. That's huge. The main
- 29:55Speaker 1: for me, Jase, perfectly cooked ham. Potatoes were delicious. The
- 29:58Speaker 1: salad was nice. Pomegranate seeds. Yeah, man. Very nice touch,
- 30:03Speaker 1: very fancy. I would have liked a mustard sauce.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 30:08Speaker 6: With the ham.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Oh, no, no, like some sort of sauce to have
- 30:10Speaker 1: with the ham.
- 30:11Speaker 9: Right.
- 30:11Speaker 6: You know what I mean? There was two kinds of
- 30:14Speaker 6: mustards there, but I did note as well there was
- 30:15Speaker 6: no whole grain mustard.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Damn, I had some too in the fridge.
- 30:20Speaker 6: I didn't want to ask because– Things were already pretty
- 30:22Speaker 6: fiery out there.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it was.
- 30:24Speaker 4: The only pushback I'll have on that, Keezy, is because
- 30:28Speaker 4: the ham was glazed, you don't generally have a sauce
- 30:31Speaker 4: with a glazed ham.
- 30:32Speaker 6: I'm not here to argue.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I'm just... But for that reason, everything else was very nice.
- 30:37Speaker 1: I've given your main... Remember, I gave your entree a nine.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I've given your main an eight.
- 30:40Speaker 7: Yep.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Good on you, mate.
- 30:42Speaker 6: Can I just say that that main was delicious. However...
- 30:47Speaker 6: I saw you were a bit worried about the ham
- 30:49Speaker 6: being overcooked. You'd worried you'd burnt it. Yeah. And you
- 30:53Speaker 6: really took it out on your cat, Jizz. And that, again,
- 30:56Speaker 6: just made things a little bit awkward around the table.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Actually, I forgot about Jizz was attacking my feet, though.
- 31:02Speaker 4: And we had to put her into a separate room. Yeah,
- 31:04Speaker 4: I had to lock her away.
- 31:05Speaker 8: Confiscate it.
- 31:06Speaker 6: True story. I also like at least two animals to
- 31:08Speaker 6: have lost their lives around Christmas dinner. And I wanted
- 31:13Speaker 6: it to be a little more on theme. I wanted
- 31:15Speaker 6: it to be a little bit more midwintery.
- 31:18Speaker 4: Sure.
- 31:18Speaker 6: Ever so slightly. No, that was more the point, was
- 31:22Speaker 6: the gravy. I felt I was missing the gravy. That
- 31:24Speaker 6: would have been good for me as well. I love
- 31:25Speaker 6: a gravy.
- 31:25Speaker 4: For the taties?
- 31:27Speaker 6: For the taties or any of it. Or a tomato sauce.
- 31:30Speaker 6: Any kind of ketchup would have been the business, but
- 31:32Speaker 6: that's just me.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:34Speaker 4: And for that reason, I gave your main an eight
- 31:37Speaker 4: as well.
- 31:37Speaker 6: Yeah. How are you feeling, Jase?
- 31:39Speaker 5: Yeah, good.
- 31:40Speaker 6: Not bad.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:40Speaker 1: All right, we'll do dessert and entertainment next.
- 31:43Speaker 6: Yes.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Hey, in the meantime, here's Jane's Addiction.
- 31:49Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 31:52Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hodaki.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Yes, indeed. Pearl Jam there on the Hodaki Big Show
- 31:57Speaker 4: this Monday evening, the time being 5.29, but it's time
- 32:02Speaker 4: for this.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Come dine with.
- 32:07Speaker 4: The fearless.
- 32:09Speaker 1: We've just scored Hoide J's the first half of his evening,
- 32:12Speaker 1: which was the entree and the mains.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Time now to score the dessert and the entertainment. And
- 32:17Speaker 1: if you missed the first part, you can catch the
- 32:19Speaker 1: Hauraki Big Show podcast when it comes out at 7.30 tonight.
- 32:21Speaker 6: Good stuff.
- 32:22Speaker 1: And also Pugs is putting a video of the whole
- 32:23Speaker 1: night up at 7 tonight. That'll be on Hauraki's Facebook
- 32:26Speaker 1: and the Hauraki Big Show Instagram.
- 32:28Speaker 6: How good.
- 32:29Speaker 7: Yeah, man.
- 32:29Speaker 6: Fellas, I might go first on this one. Let me
- 32:31Speaker 6: say I don't find this enjoyable at all. You know,
- 32:37Speaker 6: I consider you a friend. Jason, a very, very good friend.
- 32:41Speaker 6: And so to have to score these things this way,
- 32:43Speaker 6: it doesn't please me. See, I can see Pugs is
- 32:47Speaker 6: nervous here. He started chewing his nails again. Keezy's feeling
- 32:49Speaker 6: a bit awkward. But as far as the dessert goes,
- 32:52Speaker 6: it was a pavlova.
- 32:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 32:55Speaker 6: And also meringues, which I thought was really extra mild.
- 32:59Speaker 6: Can I say that?
- 33:00Speaker 4: Sure.
- 33:02Speaker 6: The only problem is I don't like either. So I
- 33:04Speaker 6: have to. I have to judge accordingly. Now, I had
- 33:07Speaker 6: some pavlova and I had meringue as well. Now, the
- 33:09Speaker 6: meringue is something that I know a good meringue because
- 33:11Speaker 6: my grandmother used to make them. Crunchy on the outside,
- 33:14Speaker 6: chewy in the middle.
- 33:15Speaker 5: Yes.
- 33:17Speaker 6: But I just don't have a sweet tooth, so that's
- 33:19Speaker 6: why I have to judge it according to that. And
- 33:22Speaker 6: also because it was midwinter themed, I would have liked
- 33:24Speaker 6: some kind of a warm pudding.
- 33:25Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, sure. Some kind of a warm pudding. You
- 33:28Speaker 4: know what I'm saying? Yeah, like a date pudding or
- 33:30Speaker 4: something like that. Yeah, something sticky date. Yeah, nice.
- 33:33Speaker 1: You love pudding, eh?
- 33:34Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 33:36Speaker 6: Carry on. I know you're all G. So for that reason,
- 33:39Speaker 6: I've given you a two. I'm only joking.
- 33:40Speaker 4: It's a seven.
- 33:42Speaker 6: Sure, man.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Farah, I thought you were serious with a two.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Holy shit.
- 33:45Speaker 4: I've never had one older, but okay, two, yeah.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Trust me, Mogi, it's not a strategy you want to do.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Not with the Hoyts. They get pretty fired up about it. Okay, seven.
- 33:54Speaker 6: All right. Pugs, you can go next if you want.
- 33:56Speaker 10: Jase, I really liked– I also don't have much of
- 34:00Speaker 10: a sweet tooth like Mogi. But what I really liked
- 34:03Speaker 10: was that you had something for sort of everybody. Like,
- 34:05Speaker 10: you know, for the people that were a bit more
- 34:07Speaker 10: simple-minded when it comes to desserts, you had a few,
- 34:10Speaker 10: what were they?
- 34:11Speaker 4: Scorched almonds.
- 34:11Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, that's right. Mini Toblerones.
- 34:13Speaker 8: I'm sure you stole from work there.
- 34:17Speaker 10: And I will say this. I thought the Pav was
- 34:20Speaker 10: a little bit on the– it wasn't as firm as
- 34:23Speaker 10: it probably needed to be. Yeah.
- 34:25Speaker 8: Some consistency issues there.
- 34:27Speaker 6: Meringues, beautifully crisp.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 34:29Speaker 9: Oh, really?
- 34:30Speaker 3: Oh, Jase.
- 34:31Speaker 10: And so for that reason, I have rated your dessert
- 34:35Speaker 10: an 8 out of 10.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Okay. Yeah, nice.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Pretty good. Yeah, the trough of scorched almonds was a
- 34:40Speaker 1: nice touch.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Trough.
- 34:44Speaker 1: And the pav wasn't the right consistency. Yeah. That was
- 34:47Speaker 1: acknowledged by the hosts. But the taste was there.
- 34:50Speaker 6: It was good.
- 34:51Speaker 4: It was a bit of a, there was some oven
- 34:53Speaker 4: issues with the pav.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Look, I don't, you know, this is not for me to,
- 34:58Speaker 1: I'm just judging the food, Jase.
- 35:02Speaker 6: You've got to remember that, Jason.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Yeah, sorry, fellas. Sorry.
- 35:04Speaker 6: This is our time to talk, right?
- 35:06Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:07Speaker 6: I apologize, fellas. I would hate to have to give
- 35:09Speaker 6: you a seven with an asterisk.
- 35:12Speaker 4: And a small D.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So the pad was the wrong consistency. It tasted very nice.
- 35:18Speaker 1: The fruit was very fresh on top. You were looking
- 35:21Speaker 1: at a six, right? You were looking at a six
- 35:23Speaker 1: until your wife also produced the homemade meringues, which were perfect.
- 35:28Speaker 1: The outside was crunchy, a little bit of whipped cream
- 35:30Speaker 1: on top, and the centre part of it was the
- 35:32Speaker 1: chewiest thing I've ever eaten, like all year, which is
- 35:36Speaker 1: exactly what you.
- 35:36Speaker 6: Want from a meringue.
- 35:38Speaker 1: So put that all together, perfect meringues, Pav not quite right,
- 35:42Speaker 1: trough of scorched almonds.
- 35:44Speaker 6: I'm going seven out of ten for dessert.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Yeah, nice.
- 35:46Speaker 6: Okay? So seven, eight, seven. Now we are on to
- 35:50Speaker 6: the entertainment, Jason. Look, it does me– It gives me
- 35:54Speaker 6: no pleasure. This is the hardest thing I've ever had
- 35:59Speaker 6: to do on the big show. I'm not enjoying this
- 36:02Speaker 6: at all. You have to do the entertainment, and it
- 36:05Speaker 6: was Christmas scene, so you did a secret Santa. Now,
- 36:07Speaker 6: we open up the secret Santas, and you've cobbled together
- 36:11Speaker 6: a bunch of giveaways from Radio Hauraki. It might be
- 36:16Speaker 6: a Steady the Ship hat, a Backbone T-shirt, these sorts
- 36:19Speaker 6: of things. Everybody got some sort of tat from around
- 36:21Speaker 6: the Hauraki office. and then not only that, there was
- 36:25Speaker 6: also a scroll in each individual present, and it said,
- 36:30Speaker 6: this voucher entitles the holder to X, Y, and Z. Now,
- 36:35Speaker 6: the first one that was opened said, it was your wife, Keezy,
- 36:39Speaker 6: and it said, this voucher entitles the holder to a
- 36:42Speaker 6: night out on the town with old Mogi.
- 36:45Speaker 1: It's instantly, I was like, cool, when are you going
- 36:46Speaker 1: to cash that in, my wife?
- 36:48Speaker 6: Then there's another one that comes out and titles a
- 36:50Speaker 6: holder for a steam and a spa with Pugsa. I
- 36:54Speaker 6: got that one.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Yeah, nice.
- 36:58Speaker 6: Some styling from Pugs is Mrs. So you'd gone through
- 37:02Speaker 6: and you'd given out all of these vouchers, created these
- 37:04Speaker 6: vouchers with nobody's knowledge. There was a swap fest that
- 37:09Speaker 6: went on at one point so that the holder could
- 37:12Speaker 6: get a portrait done by my wife, who's an artist.
- 37:16Speaker 4: I wanted that one, actually.
- 37:16Speaker 6: And people were fighting over that. And at the end,
- 37:19Speaker 6: Kizu's wife ended up with it.
- 37:20Speaker 4: She's got it, yeah.
- 37:21Speaker 6: And she wants a full-size portrait. So people have been
- 37:23Speaker 6: held to this.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Yeah, Jase's wife won one hot pot night with me, Keezy.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Unbelievable. So for that reason, I'm giving it a 10.
- 37:34Speaker 6: It was absolutely hilarious. It was genius. It was Secret
- 37:37Speaker 6: Santa reimagined. I will be doing exactly the same thing
- 37:41Speaker 6: come this Christmas. I had an absolute ball. And the
- 37:44Speaker 6: fact that we're chanting Pugsan, Pugsan, Pugsan, Wally's taking a
- 37:48Speaker 6: dump and we've got everybody creating it. It could not
- 37:52Speaker 6: have been better. A pure 10 for me. Very funny.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Oh, thanks, Moggy. Good on you, mate.
- 37:56Speaker 8: I was hoping that wouldn't come back into the story. Now, Jase, obviously...
- 38:02Speaker 8: You do get an extra point from me because I
- 38:03Speaker 8: wasn't there for part.
- 38:04Speaker 10: Of it, so it would be unfair for me to
- 38:06Speaker 10: score you fully. But I am taking into account my
- 38:08Speaker 10: partner's opinion on this one as well.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Yes.
- 38:11Speaker 8: I really love the idea. I thought it was brilliant.
- 38:14Speaker 10: The only thing that I didn't like about it was,
- 38:16Speaker 10: regardless of how much you're doing a bit in terms
- 38:19Speaker 10: of inconveniencing us, we are still inconvenienced. So I am
- 38:23Speaker 10: left with shit that I deliberately did not take home
- 38:26Speaker 10: from work that I now have to deal with on
- 38:29Speaker 10: top of Christmas stuff memorabilia signed by Hoodie J so
- 38:34Speaker 10: that was other than that I thought it was hilarious
- 38:37Speaker 10: it was very wholesome the swapping was great so I've
- 38:40Speaker 10: given your entertainment a nine.
- 38:41Speaker 6: Good on you mate Jase, very, very funny.
- 38:44Speaker 1: We're all crying with laughter. Obviously, I can't give it
- 38:47Speaker 1: a 10 because Pugs went poos for quite a while.
- 38:50Speaker 4: Chris, that's so unfair.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Look, man, this is just, it affected the entertainment, Pugs,
- 38:54Speaker 1: and I hope you feel bad about that.
- 38:55Speaker 8: When we get to my dinner party, the bathroom's right
- 38:58Speaker 8: by the kitchen.
- 38:59Speaker 6: So that's, look, it would have been.
- 39:00Speaker 8: I'm going to be watching you all like a hawk.
- 39:01Speaker 1: It was very funny. It would have been a 10, okay,
- 39:04Speaker 1: but it's a 9. Because of Pugs doing poos halfway through.
- 39:07Speaker 1: That's a great round.
- 39:09Speaker 8: I can't believe you've put that on there.
- 39:10Speaker 6: Really good round.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Look, I'm just saying, man, it affected the night. And
- 39:14Speaker 1: so I think all in all, was that 9, 10, 9? 9, 10, 9.
- 39:16Speaker 6: That's a huge round for the entertainment race. You put
- 39:19Speaker 6: so much work into that. It was the presence. It
- 39:22Speaker 6: was the rapping. It was stealing things from work without
- 39:25Speaker 6: us noticing. I don't know how you did that. Normally,
- 39:27Speaker 6: you wouldn't even bother. You just do it right in
- 39:28Speaker 6: front of our faces. You went and shopped for some
- 39:31Speaker 6: tats as well for the Christmas crackers.
- 39:35Speaker 4: Can I just say, in terms of those vouchers, my
- 39:39Speaker 4: wife's mother did the writing on it. She's very good
- 39:42Speaker 4: at calligraphy.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Feature.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Can I rise on those? Yes, fill your boots.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Let me just reiterate, if you want to catch up
- 39:49Speaker 1: on the full scoring, the Hodaki Big Show highlights podcast
- 39:52Speaker 1: is out at 7.30 tonight and Pugs has filmed the
- 39:55Speaker 1: entire evening and put together a social video that'll be
- 39:57Speaker 1: on Radio Hodaki's Facebook at 7pm and the Hodaki Big
- 40:00Speaker 1: Show's Instagram at 7pm.
- 40:01Speaker 6: Beautiful.
- 40:02Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 40:06Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 40:09Speaker 1: One simple question.
- 40:11Speaker 3: One weekend of a lifetime.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Would you rather? Yes, indeed. Would you rather cars or wars?
- 40:19Speaker 6: It's a good one.
- 40:20Speaker 1: Would you rather go to the grand final of the
- 40:21Speaker 1: NRL or go to Bathurst for a couple of days
- 40:25Speaker 1: of race car action? If you do choose the NRL
- 40:28Speaker 1: grand final, there is a chance the wars will be there.
- 40:30Speaker 1: You'll also get to go to the races on the
- 40:32Speaker 1: Saturday and a pre-match cruise on a nice boat to
- 40:34Speaker 1: the game on the Sunday.
- 40:35Speaker 7: Wow.
- 40:36Speaker 1: All three nights in Sydney with shuttles to and from Bathurst,
- 40:39Speaker 1: both the Saturday and the Sunday.
- 40:41Speaker 4: There is a real chance the Waz will be there.
- 40:45Speaker 1: There are, yeah, 100%.
- 40:46Speaker 4: It feels like that. No one's going to beat them
- 40:48Speaker 4: in a semi at home, are they? Don't. No, I'm
- 40:51Speaker 4: just saying.
- 40:54Speaker 1: I don't know, man. I've been hurt too many times before.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Plenty of chances to get yourself in the draw. Just
- 40:59Speaker 1: keep listening to Hodaki.
- 41:00Speaker 4: Yeah, g'day, Brad, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 41:03Speaker 5: It's good.
- 41:04Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you, mate. Good on you, man. Always good. Jeez,
- 41:07Speaker 4: that's good.
- 41:08Speaker 6: That's great.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Tell me, Brad, what do you do for a crust?
- 41:12Speaker 7: Oh, I'm a marine welder apprentice.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Oh, bad boy. How good.
- 41:18Speaker 6: How do you get into that line of work, man?
- 41:21Speaker 6: That's a marine sparky.
- 41:23Speaker 4: There you go.
- 41:24Speaker 2: He has connections.
- 41:24Speaker 6: Yeah, sounds like it. So, Brad, are we talking about
- 41:26Speaker 6: on boats or, like, beneath the water?
- 41:28Speaker 5: On boats.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Right, okay.
- 41:33Speaker 5: Doing underwater.
- 41:33Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's electricity, Keezy. You can't be
- 41:37Speaker 4: doing that underwater.
- 41:38Speaker 6: No, there are underwater welders. There absolutely are, yeah. Jase.
- 41:42Speaker 5: Yeah, but you're not going to live very long. I
- 41:44Speaker 5: can tell you that now.
- 41:45Speaker 4: Yeah, he can tell you that now.
- 41:46Speaker 5: Honestly, Brad.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Brad can tell you that, man.
- 41:48Speaker 6: I didn't come out for a fight, Brad.
- 41:49Speaker 1: Brad, I'm going to get my dad's welder and jump
- 41:51Speaker 1: in the water this weekend and prove you wrong, all right?
- 41:53Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 41:54Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 41:55Speaker 5: You do that, bud.
- 41:55Speaker 6: You do it, mate.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Tell me, Brad, which would you prefer, the Bathurst or
- 42:01Speaker 4: the NRL Grand Final?
- 42:03Speaker 5: Bathurst.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I reckon. Yeah, nice. All day, man, all day.
- 42:08Speaker 1: We'll chuck you on hold there, Brad, all right?
- 42:11Speaker 6: Good luck.
- 42:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Good on you, mate.
- 42:15Speaker 1: He's stoked, man. We got a bit of an argument there, fella.
- 42:17Speaker 6: Sorry about that. He's a shocking bastard.
- 42:19Speaker 4: Yeah, he was.
- 42:20Speaker 6: Having a go at you, man.
- 42:21Speaker 4: What's that about, man? G'day, Rocky, you mad bastard. How's life?
- 42:25Speaker 4: Very good, mate. How's it going? Yeah, good, mate. Good, good.
- 42:28Speaker 6: What do you reckon, man?
- 42:29Speaker 4: Yeah, what do you reckon? Oh, mate, up the wilds, brother.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:34Speaker 6: Oh, this guy gets it.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Hey, Rocky, Rocky, Rocky, what do you do for a crust, man?
- 42:39Speaker 1: I'm an entrepreneur, mate.
- 42:40Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. How much? Backbone.
- 42:44Speaker 6: Dodgy bastard. Shocking bastard.
- 42:46Speaker 1: Hey, grand final or Bethurst, Rocky?
- 42:49Speaker 4: Oh, mate, 31 years is a long time, mate, so
- 42:53Speaker 4: hopefully the Warriors will get to the final and I'll
- 42:56Speaker 4: be going there to support them, eh?
- 42:59Speaker 6: Yeah, good on you, Rocky. Good on you, Rocky.
- 43:00Speaker 1: All right, well, you hold the line, all right, and
- 43:02Speaker 1: old Pug's son will have a go at you.
- 43:04Speaker 4: All righto, brother. Good on you, mate. Jeez, how good, eh?
- 43:07Speaker 1: It is good stuff. Of course, it's all cheers to
- 43:09Speaker 1: our mates at boystrip.co.nz. Sports travel made easy. They'll be
- 43:12Speaker 1: looking after the whole thing. Fell is really good. Would
- 43:15Speaker 1: you rather questions come through on 3483?
- 43:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Would you rather eat a whole pineapple or a whole watermelon?
- 43:23Speaker 1: It's a toughie.
- 43:24Speaker 6: That's a great question. I never thought about that. Never
- 43:28Speaker 6: thought about that. I sort of feel like I'm being
- 43:31Speaker 6: led into a trick here. No, you're not. Let's go pineapple. Yes,
- 43:35Speaker 6: I'd be the same.
- 43:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:36Speaker 6: What about you, Jase?
- 43:37Speaker 4: Watermelon?
- 43:39Speaker 1: Idiot.
- 43:39Speaker 5: Okay.
- 43:43Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 43:46Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 43:49Speaker 4: Welcome back, you mess of backbones. Hope you got through
- 43:51Speaker 4: your Monday okay. You're listening to The Big Show, by
- 43:54Speaker 4: the way, brought to you by Reburgu.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Serving good times with good food. Dine in or take
- 43:58Speaker 1: away Reburgu today.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Mmm, yummy. Yeah, man.
- 44:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 4: That's what I'm talking about.
- 44:05Speaker 1: Is that what you're talking about? What are you having
- 44:08Speaker 1: for dinner tonight, Moggy?
- 44:09Speaker 6: I've already had two lots of dal while I've been
- 44:11Speaker 6: here at work, but my understanding is that I've got
- 44:14Speaker 6: some kind of a dumpling soup awaiting me.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Didn't you have dumpling soup on Friday?
- 44:20Speaker 4: No.
- 44:20Speaker 1: I feel like you did too.
- 44:23Speaker 6: Well, I definitely didn't. I had something else. Oh, was
- 44:28Speaker 6: that not the family? I feel like that was the
- 44:29Speaker 6: family dinner.
- 44:31Speaker 4: It was a lamb.
- 44:32Speaker 6: It was a lamb and za'atar potatoes and your beans
- 44:36Speaker 6: with pine nuts.
- 44:38Speaker 5: Wow.
- 44:38Speaker 4: Yeah, nice.
- 44:40Speaker 6: Foul concoction there.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Sounds really nice. What about you, Keezy? What are you
- 44:44Speaker 4: having for tea?
- 44:45Speaker 1: All I know is it's a lemongrass something.
- 44:46Speaker 8: I'm just waiting to hear back.
- 44:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, lemongrass bowl. Something. I'm not sure. That's right, yeah.
- 44:50Speaker 4: It's a bowl of lemongrass.
- 44:52Speaker 1: It's just a bowl of lemongrass?
- 44:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 1: So I'll just be grazing on that?
- 44:56Speaker 4: Yeah, nice.
- 44:57Speaker 6: And then when my wife goes to bed, I'll probably
- 44:58Speaker 6: order a re-burger or something.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 45:00Speaker 6: What are you having, Jase?
- 45:01Speaker 4: Well, it's got to be Christmas ham and cheese toasties.
- 45:06Speaker 4: I mean, all I've eaten today is ham. Literally.
- 45:10Speaker 6: How much ham do you have left?
- 45:11Speaker 4: Quite a lot. Actually, not as much as I thought
- 45:14Speaker 4: we'd have.
- 45:14Speaker 6: To be honest.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Because you mentioned last week you were worried about having
- 45:16Speaker 1: too much ham and you were going to give away
- 45:18Speaker 1: the ham.
- 45:18Speaker 6: Yeah, you said you were going to give us some
- 45:20Speaker 6: last night. And then you didn't. And my wife.
- 45:22Speaker 1: Bought buns to have ham buns for lunch.
- 45:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. All right.
- 45:26Speaker 6: So actually, I might have to drop down one of
- 45:28Speaker 6: your scores. Yeah, I've made a mistake there.
- 45:30Speaker 4: For lunch today?
- 45:31Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 45:32Speaker 4: All right. That's okay. No, that's cool, man. I'll bring
- 45:36Speaker 4: in some tomorrow.
- 45:38Speaker 6: Nah, you're all good, man.
- 45:39Speaker 4: You have it. Yeah, thanks, as I wasn't going to.
- 45:40Speaker 6: Good stuff.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Let's get into it. Here's the offspring.
- 45:44Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 45:49Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 45:51Speaker 4: Queens of the Stone Age there on the Hodaki Big
- 45:54Speaker 4: Show this Monday evening. The time is 14 minutes past
- 45:57Speaker 4: 6 o'clock. I believe we've got some Keezy news.
- 46:02Speaker 1: What's on the news with me?
- 46:06Speaker 3: Keezy.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Fellas, today's news comes from the world of gaming.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 46:13Speaker 6: Grand Theft Auto.
- 46:13Speaker 4: Deuce, deuce, deuce, deuce, deuce. With me, Keezy. Yep.
- 46:18Speaker 6: Grand Theft Auto. Heard of it? Have you heard of
- 46:21Speaker 6: Grand Theft Auto? Grand Theft Auto. Yeah, it's a crime
- 46:23Speaker 6: in the United States, isn't it, Jase?
- 46:25Speaker 4: It is.
- 46:26Speaker 6: The theft of a motor vehicle.
- 46:28Speaker 1: That's correct, Mogi. It's also the name of a very, very,
- 46:31Speaker 1: very successful franchise.
- 46:32Speaker 5: Probably.
- 46:33Speaker 1: The most successful gaming franchise. Like Pac-Man. Like Pac-Man, but newer.
- 46:40Speaker 1: One of the most successful media franchises ever.
- 46:42Speaker 4: Right.
- 46:43Speaker 1: And Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming out towards the
- 46:45Speaker 1: end of this year.
- 46:45Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. And it has been.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Widely touted to be the biggest media release in history.
- 46:51Speaker 1: Bigger than any movie, bigger than any TV show, anything
- 46:54Speaker 1: like that.
- 46:55Speaker 6: I find that hard to believe.
- 46:56Speaker 1: I know, of course you do.
- 46:57Speaker 6: Old Mogey over there.
- 46:59Speaker 1: So Grand Theft Auto 5, which was 13 years ago,
- 47:03Speaker 1: It's Grand Theft Auto 6.
- 47:05Speaker 7: Wow.
- 47:05Speaker 4: Has it been that long?
- 47:06Speaker 1: It's been that long. Wow.
- 47:08Speaker 6: It does. You're right.
- 47:10Speaker 1: You're right. So 13 years between drinks, fellas. The first
- 47:13Speaker 1: game made a billion dollars revenue in 24 hours.
- 47:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:17Speaker 6: One billion dollars.
- 47:19Speaker 4: That's incredible.
- 47:20Speaker 6: It's not bad, is it?
- 47:21Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy?
- 47:21Speaker 6: And what?
- 47:22Speaker 4: Well, I was lining up, so yeah, you know.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Whereabouts?
- 47:25Speaker 4: Pardon? At the shop where they sell it.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Easy.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Come on, man.
- 47:30Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Back then you would have been.
- 47:33Speaker 1: And so following that is Grand Theft Auto 6 comes
- 47:36Speaker 1: out later this year. On Friday, first time ever, they
- 47:39Speaker 1: released it on Netflix behind a paywall, the gameplay trailer
- 47:42Speaker 1: of the upcoming game.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Wow.
- 47:44Speaker 1: First time a trailer has been put on a paid platform.
- 47:46Speaker 7: Wow.
- 47:47Speaker 6: Outrageous.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Wow.
- 47:49Speaker 1: It showed off 26 minutes of the game, millions and
- 47:51Speaker 1: millions of views. Everyone's really stoked. But it's just like...
- 47:55Speaker 1: Do they give you how many views it got? Because
- 47:57Speaker 1: Netflix normally doesn't divulge that information, how many views.
- 48:00Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, right?
- 48:02Speaker 4: They don't.
- 48:02Speaker 1: So it's been put on YouTube ever since. I think
- 48:04Speaker 1: it's up to 15 million. But prior to the latest
- 48:08Speaker 1: Spider-Man trailer, the second Grand Theft Auto trailer was the
- 48:12Speaker 1: biggest trailer ever viewership-wise on YouTube.
- 48:15Speaker 4: Wow.
- 48:15Speaker 1: 475 million views.
- 48:16Speaker 6: As soon as it came out, I was on it.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 48:17Speaker 4: 475 million views in its first 24 hours.
- 48:19Speaker 6: Yeah. That's huge. That sounds about right. Can I ask
- 48:26Speaker 6: a question, Chris?
- 48:27Speaker 1: Sure, Michael. What's that?
- 48:29Speaker 6: How much would you pay for a game like this?
- 48:31Speaker 6: Do you want to guess?
- 48:34Speaker 4: Jeez.
- 48:34Speaker 6: I sort of feel like back in the day, because
- 48:36Speaker 6: it's been a long time. I used to love my
- 48:37Speaker 6: video games. But like everyone, you sort of think to yourself, Jase,
- 48:39Speaker 6: we've talked about this. This is a time to grow up. Yeah.
- 48:43Speaker 6: And so I haven't played video games for probably 35,
- 48:47Speaker 6: 40 years.
- 48:47Speaker 4: They've changed.
- 48:48Speaker 7: Yes.
- 48:51Speaker 6: And back then, I think they were probably going for $ 100, $ 120.
- 48:54Speaker 6: So I could only assume now they're an absolute rort,
- 48:57Speaker 6: an absolute rip. 30 years ago, it was $ 100.
- 49:01Speaker 4: Yep.
- 49:03Speaker 6: And I would say, God knows, $ 250, $ 300. Nah, so
- 49:05Speaker 6: Grand Theft.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Auto is probably going to be the most expensive ever,
- 49:09Speaker 1: like in terms of just a base. I think it's
- 49:11Speaker 1: about 180 New Zealand dollars oh yeah but most games
- 49:14Speaker 1: are 100 right they're all 100 dollars or 60 if
- 49:17Speaker 1: it's a smaller game 180 out the door but the
- 49:19Speaker 1: thing is they could have put any price on that
- 49:21Speaker 1: yeah I'd be there and you know millions of people
- 49:24Speaker 1: are still going to.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Buy it I think the most I've ever played for
- 49:26Speaker 4: a game was I think it was 275 bloody hell
- 49:30Speaker 4: what game was that?
- 49:31Speaker 2: Buzzy Island The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and
- 49:35Speaker 2: Keezy tune in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki One
- 49:40Speaker 2: simple question.
- 49:41Speaker 3: One weekend of a lifetime.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Would you rather?
- 49:46Speaker 4: Bloody oats, I would.
- 49:48Speaker 7: What?
- 49:50Speaker 4: Rather.
- 49:51Speaker 1: NRL Grand Final or Bathurst, that's the big question. If
- 49:56Speaker 1: you choose the Grand Final option, you get to go
- 49:58Speaker 1: over there on the Saturday, you go to the Randwick races,
- 50:01Speaker 1: and on the Sunday, pre-match boat cruise to the stadium,
- 50:04Speaker 1: which is the Grand Final in Sydney. If you choose Bathurst,
- 50:07Speaker 1: three nights in Sydney with shuttles to and from Bathurst
- 50:10Speaker 1: to the mountain, both the Saturday and the Sunday.
- 50:12Speaker 4: Bloody good, mate. Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Muzza,
- 50:16Speaker 4: you mad bastard. How's life?
- 50:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:18Speaker 6: Oh, you know, same shit, different day.
- 50:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I hear you, Muzza. I hear you, mate.
- 50:24Speaker 6: You're right, you're right, Muzza.
- 50:25Speaker 4: You know what I mean, man? Listen, Muzza, what do
- 50:27Speaker 4: you do for a crust?
- 50:29Speaker 6: I'm a line haul truck driver. Oh, yeah, you're a backbone.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Total backbone.
- 50:33Speaker 6: How's your back feel at the moment, man?
- 50:36Speaker 4: Ah, good.
- 50:36Speaker 7: I drive a Def, so it's nice and comfortable.
- 50:39Speaker 6: Oh, good on you.
- 50:39Speaker 4: Good on you, mate. Good on you, mother. What do
- 50:42Speaker 4: you like to indulge in when you stop for a
- 50:45Speaker 4: bit of a feed there, mother?
- 50:48Speaker 6: Oh, I try and go for healthy options like Subway
- 50:52Speaker 6: Bowl or something.
- 50:53Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 50:53Speaker 4: Good on you, mate. Yeah, good on you, mate. So
- 50:56Speaker 4: which would you rather, the NRL Grand Final or Bathurst, mate? Oh,
- 51:01Speaker 4: I'm a petrolhead, so that's it. Yeah, it makes sense, man.
- 51:04Speaker 4: I thought you'd say that.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Hey, Muzzle, what kind of petrolhead are you, mate?
- 51:07Speaker 6: What are you into?
- 51:10Speaker 3: Well, I've got a Chrysler 300C V8.
- 51:11Speaker 5: Oh, nice.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a car.
- 51:13Speaker 4: I've got two of those.
- 51:14Speaker 6: I love them.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Have you got two of them, mate?
- 51:16Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:17Speaker 6: Hey, Muzzle. Yeah, I've actually got two of them, too.
- 51:19Speaker 4: I've got a V8 and a V6 diesel one. Yeah,
- 51:20Speaker 4: same here. Same here, mate. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:23Speaker 1: You guys are mad, boss. Hey, Muzzle, you hold the line, brother.
- 51:26Speaker 6: You're in the draw, all right?
- 51:28Speaker 5: Good as gold.
- 51:29Speaker 4: Good on you, mate.
- 51:30Speaker 6: How good's mother?
- 51:30Speaker 4: He was great. G'day, Sam, you mad bastard. How's life? Evening, fellas.
- 51:35Speaker 6: Not too bad.
- 51:35Speaker 7: There he is.
- 51:36Speaker 4: Yeah, good on you.
- 51:37Speaker 6: Been waiting for you to call Sam, you mad bastard, you.
- 51:40Speaker 2: How you going, Moga?
- 51:41Speaker 4: You well, man?
- 51:42Speaker 6: I love it, man. I love it. You know me, man.
- 51:44Speaker 4: I can't get enough of it. Oh, do you know Sam?
- 51:46Speaker 4: I live it, I eat it, I breathe it. Do
- 51:47Speaker 4: you know Sam?
- 51:48Speaker 6: Can't get enough of it. It's in my blood, man.
- 51:50Speaker 6: You cut me open and out it comes. Good stuff.
- 51:53Speaker 6: Good stuff.
- 51:54Speaker 7: Sam!
- 51:55Speaker 4: What do you do for a crust? Just a fencer, man.
- 51:59Speaker 6: I won't have that. You're a goddamn backbone.
- 52:02Speaker 4: You're a backbone, Sam. That's what you are, mate. And
- 52:05Speaker 4: which would you rather, Bathurst or the NRL Grand Final?
- 52:09Speaker 5: I'd have to say Bathurst.
- 52:11Speaker 4: I would say NRL, but I'm already going to the
- 52:12Speaker 4: Grand Final.
- 52:13Speaker 6: Yeah, same here, man.
- 52:14Speaker 4: Same here.
- 52:15Speaker 6: I'll see you there.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Yeah, good stuff.
- 52:17Speaker 6: Good on you, Sam.
- 52:17Speaker 1: You hold the line and I'll pug, son. I'll have
- 52:19Speaker 1: a go at you, all right?
- 52:20Speaker 7: Beautiful.
- 52:21Speaker 5: Hey, cheers, fellas.
- 52:21Speaker 4: Good on you, mate.
- 52:22Speaker 6: Done a bit of fencing in my day there, Fjells.
- 52:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:25Speaker 6: Fencing. This Kiwi guy invented a little invention there. He
- 52:31Speaker 6: invented an invention. Have you heard about that, Keezy?
- 52:33Speaker 4: No.
- 52:33Speaker 6: It really simplified the fencing process. I'd love to get
- 52:37Speaker 6: an image of it, but I was lucky enough to
- 52:39Speaker 6: have it because prior to that you just had.
- 52:40Speaker 4: Your baton.
- 52:43Speaker 6: And you had your hammer.
- 52:45Speaker 4: Yes.
- 52:46Speaker 6: And you had those little nails, those little nail things,
- 52:49Speaker 6: you know. Paid in the ass and took forever. And
- 52:51Speaker 6: this invention was, Jesus, spit it up.
- 52:54Speaker 5: Right.
- 52:55Speaker 6: Sped it up real good.
- 52:56Speaker 1: I don't know anything about fencing.
- 52:58Speaker 6: It was a good time, actually. I quite enjoyed that.
- 53:00Speaker 6: It was better than digging, what did you have to do?
- 53:06Speaker 6: The ditches around a house before they can put down
- 53:08Speaker 6: the concrete and stuff. Footings, they're called.
- 53:10Speaker 5: Yes.
- 53:11Speaker 6: Absolute pain in the ass. Absolute garbage work. And that's
- 53:15Speaker 6: what you do as an apprentice builder.
- 53:16Speaker 4: It's good shit, though. Absolutely hated it.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Backbone stuff. Actually, a quick would you rather. This is
- 53:21Speaker 1: for Jase. Jase, would you rather the Warriors win the
- 53:23Speaker 1: grand final Or you have one hot pot. One hot
- 53:30Speaker 1: pot that you can get whenever. Or the Warriors finally
- 53:34Speaker 1: win a grand final after 30 plus years.
- 53:40Speaker 4: Can I think about that one, Keezy?
- 53:41Speaker 6: Yeah, sure, man.
- 53:43Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 53:47Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 53:55Speaker 4: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big
