Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hi, Hi, Catherine, Hi, Chelsea. Tak it to our many
- 0:04Speaker 1: many mini minisode.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's just like a teeny Meani Sode Chelsea, I have
- 0:09Speaker 2: a funny email from someone that totally relates to our
- 0:11Speaker 2: Naomi Watts episode that just came out. Maggie says, I
- 0:16Speaker 2: can totally second that menopause is not all terrible. It's
- 0:19Speaker 2: not all doom and gloom. I'm fifty eight and postmenopausal,
- 0:22Speaker 2: and I'm here to tell you that menopause is something
- 0:25Speaker 2: to look forward to all caps. It is a gift.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It's complete liberation from everything. The patriarchy wants us to
- 0:32Speaker 2: think it's bad because we stop giving a shit about
- 0:34Speaker 2: men once it starts. The pharmaceutical industry wants us to
- 0:38Speaker 2: think it's bad because they can sell us meds for it.
- 0:40Speaker 2: But it's awesome. To quote Christ and Scott Thomas and Fleabag,
- 0:44Speaker 2: I lead a very healthy life and menopause is magnificent,
- 0:47Speaker 2: So that's an exciting thing to look forward to. She
- 0:50Speaker 2: also says I have two vacation properties, Joshua Tree and
- 0:53Speaker 2: Palm Springs, and I save all my Dear Chelsea episodes
- 0:56Speaker 2: for when I'm driving to my properties.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I love that as soon as I get in the.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Car Syria to play Dear Chelsea, and you and your
- 1:02Speaker 2: guests are my company as I drive. Love it, Maggie.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Oh that makes me happy. I love that.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Menopause, Maggie, yep, menopause, Maggie.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Chelsea. We have two callers today for a couples count Graying.
- 1:15Speaker 2: They are Kendall and Olivia. They are calling in from
- 1:19Speaker 2: the East Coast and they say, Dear Chelsea, this is
- 1:21Speaker 2: Kendall riding in. My girlfriend and I are both twenty
- 1:24Speaker 2: four years old. We met at un Ah and have
- 1:27Speaker 2: been together for two and a half years. I live
- 1:30Speaker 2: in mass and she lives in New Hampshire, and we
- 1:31Speaker 2: can't decide on a third state to move to. I
- 1:34Speaker 2: don't want to move back to New Hampshire as I
- 1:36Speaker 2: went to school there, and we don't want to stay
- 1:37Speaker 2: in Mass as we've been doing a long distance back
- 1:40Speaker 2: and forth from both states. Any help on how to
- 1:42Speaker 2: decide on a third state to move to or any
- 1:45Speaker 2: states you love? Being in love you both so much.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Thanks for any help, Kendall. So we'll wait for Olivia
- 1:51Speaker 2: before we respond. But I have thoughts I do too. Yeah,
- 1:55Speaker 2: right off the top of my head. Yes, well, what
- 1:57Speaker 2: can get started. We'll just wait for her to pop
- 1:59Speaker 2: in and then we'll recap.
- 2:01Speaker 1: What about Connecticut, that's a good one.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I have been there a couple of times before.
- 2:04Speaker 4: I mean, if you're already on the East, do you
- 2:06Speaker 4: like the East Coast, like that Eastern seaboard?
- 2:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like that.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Part of the country too. That's kind of my that's
- 2:11Speaker 1: where I'm from.
- 2:12Speaker 4: I'm from New Jersey, so it's not quite but I
- 2:14Speaker 4: grew up on the Cape, so I like that vibe.
- 2:16Speaker 4: I like New Hampshire, I like Massachusetts. I think Connecticut
- 2:20Speaker 4: is a nice compromise between the two, and it still
- 2:23Speaker 4: has the same vibe that you're used to.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. We've we've also gone to Portland,
- 2:28Speaker 3: Maine a couple of times.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Maine is awesome.
- 2:31Speaker 2: It's like so fun and quaint, but there's like tons of.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Specially for lesbians. Yes, right, yeah, what don't you like about?
- 2:39Speaker 5: Hi?
- 2:40Speaker 1: Hi?
- 2:40Speaker 4: We were just talking about we were just talking about
- 2:42Speaker 4: your future and whether or not you're gonna move to
- 2:45Speaker 4: Connecticut or Maine.
- 2:47Speaker 5: Sounds good. Yeah, those two we've been talking about a
- 2:49Speaker 5: little bit.
- 2:50Speaker 4: So Portland Maine whenever I perform, whenever I go to Portland, Maine,
- 2:54Speaker 4: I always want an extra day there because I just
- 2:56Speaker 4: love that.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Food and I love Portland.
- 2:59Speaker 4: I find that just to be just a cool, cool
- 3:02Speaker 4: town all the way through.
- 3:03Speaker 1: As it's like a city, like a mini city. You know, it's.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Totally manageable, and there's a lot of like minded people there.
- 3:10Speaker 4: You can pack up your lesbian Birkenstocks and just go
- 3:13Speaker 4: up there together and hit it. Connecticut, I was mentioning,
- 3:16Speaker 4: but Connecticut has certain parts that are really beautiful and
- 3:19Speaker 4: certain parts that are a bit more rough. And I'm thinking, like,
- 3:21Speaker 4: the beautiful parts are really pretty expensive. But there are
- 3:25Speaker 4: like cities like Hartford, and you know, there are cities
- 3:28Speaker 4: in Connecticut that could be I mean, it would be
- 3:31Speaker 4: worth doing a little like trip where you guys go
- 3:33Speaker 4: to like hang out in some cities in Connecticut. Go
- 3:36Speaker 4: to Stamford, go to Hartford. Or you don't want to
- 3:39Speaker 4: go to Boston, right because you're from mass.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yeah, and we're not big city people.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, So I would say go to Portland first
- 3:47Speaker 4: and see what the vibe is there. If you guys
- 3:49Speaker 4: like that, go for a weekend and see how you
- 3:52Speaker 4: like it.
- 3:56Speaker 2: What kind of stuff do you guys like to do?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Are you hikers? What are you doing fun time?
- 4:00Speaker 5: I feel like I'm more of like outdoorsy kind of stuff.
- 4:03Speaker 5: I mean, but we both like doing the crafty set
- 4:06Speaker 5: of things too, like the pottery, the wine, sip and
- 4:09Speaker 5: paint nights, those kinds of things and lives.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Always been a big skier, but I've never skied in
- 4:15Speaker 3: my life, Chelsea, you believe it or not, but we
- 4:17Speaker 3: want to get into snowboarding.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Actually, so what about Vermont?
- 4:22Speaker 3: I haven't been to Vermont, like as an adult.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Vermont's pretty cool. I don't know where. I haven't been
- 4:28Speaker 4: with Vermont in so many years. I'm just trying to
- 4:29Speaker 4: think of, like what the main cities there are Montpelier,
- 4:34Speaker 4: but Vermont is cool. And but once you're on the
- 4:38Speaker 4: East Coast, then you can have access to those ski places.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I mean, there's Camelback, there's a Bunch, there's you know
- 4:44Speaker 4: in Connecticut, there's Stowe, there's Killington, So you could have
- 4:48Speaker 4: access to all those places once you're in that area.
- 4:50Speaker 4: And then there's a there's a Rhode Island, there's Providence,
- 4:53Speaker 4: there's Provincetown that's super gay that's fun. I mean, I've
- 4:59Speaker 4: been there bunch of times and that's a blast. And Providence,
- 5:02Speaker 4: Rhode Island is awesome. Yeah, I don't know what the
- 5:04Speaker 4: cost of living is there, Like if it's expensive, I
- 5:07Speaker 4: probably seemingly, but I'm sure you know there's areas in
- 5:10Speaker 4: all of these places that kind of go across the
- 5:13Speaker 4: board from more affordable to less affordable.
- 5:16Speaker 2: And if you do decide to venture away from the
- 5:19Speaker 2: Eastern Seaboard, I will say Chicago is an amazing city
- 5:23Speaker 2: to be young and gay in.
- 5:24Speaker 1: It is a great place.
- 5:26Speaker 2: You can head up to Andersonville, which is like a
- 5:28Speaker 2: lot of cities have like a boys town, but that's
- 5:30Speaker 2: where all the lesbians live.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Like that's funny. Yeah, all the boys town. There are
- 5:34Speaker 1: lots of lesbians.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Not a lot of cities have a spot for urbans.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Yeah, at least gay men are allowing gay women to
- 5:40Speaker 4: take over versus straight men allowing straight women to take over.
- 5:44Speaker 2: And then I would also say go to the other Portland,
- 5:47Speaker 2: Like check out Portland, Oregon. It's fantastic. There's lots of
- 5:51Speaker 2: outdoorsy stuff but also lots of creative people. But I
- 5:54Speaker 2: love your idea, Chelsea of like go for a weekend,
- 5:57Speaker 2: Like do a three day weekend in a bunch of
- 5:58Speaker 2: different cities, get an airba and be walk around.
- 6:01Speaker 4: And make sure you incorporate all the things you love,
- 6:03Speaker 4: you know, like make sure you incorporate the outdoors, the aspects,
- 6:06Speaker 4: and like the crafting aspects. Do your research before you
- 6:09Speaker 4: go so that you can get all that stuff in,
- 6:12Speaker 4: Like make sure you're going to the restaurants that you're
- 6:14Speaker 4: interested in, going to the kind of style of food
- 6:17Speaker 4: you like to eat, and so that you're experiencing the
- 6:19Speaker 4: city and don't just stay in one area of that city.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Really really take in the city.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, definitely, Thank you guys so much.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, best of luck, and let us know where you settle,
- 6:30Speaker 2: okay or where you start visiting and love and that
- 6:32Speaker 2: sort of thing.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, definitely, And congrats I'm being together and being
- 6:36Speaker 4: in a happy, successful relationship.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Girls. Thank you.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Right, you don't hear that that often anymore, I.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Know, I know. It's nice to see though.
- 6:43Speaker 2: All Right, have a great day and check back.
- 6:46Speaker 3: And Chelsea. Can I just back up Brittany Broski and
- 6:49Speaker 3: say thank you for the interview you did with Harry Styles,
- 6:52Speaker 3: Like when she said that I was like, oh my god, Yes,
- 6:56Speaker 3: someone's noticing it.
- 6:59Speaker 5: Doing the good work.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Bye.
- 7:01Speaker 3: So cute.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Oh wow that was a quick one. Okay, wow, one
- 7:05Speaker 1: and done. It's all in a day's work. Everybody, all
- 7:08Speaker 1: in a day's work.
- 7:09Speaker 2: We'll see you next time.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I'll do Oh's
