- 0:00Speaker 1: Thirteen ten Wiba Madison in the morning and asked the
- 0:04Speaker 1: experts brought to you by Larsen Home Services. Joining us
- 0:07Speaker 1: this morning from Larsen Home Services, mister Andrew Larson. Andrew,
- 0:10Speaker 1: how you doing this morning?
- 0:12Speaker 2: Always great, It's.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Always great to chat with you, and we've got an
- 0:15Speaker 1: important conversation a head involving talking to your friends and
- 0:19Speaker 1: talking to your neighbors. And as we talk with Andrew
- 0:22Speaker 1: each and every Wednesday morning right here on thirteen ten, Wiba,
- 0:25Speaker 1: I hope you have a chance to check out the
- 0:27Speaker 1: website Larsenhomeservices dot com. That's l A R S O

- 0:38Speaker 1: SO eight five three five forty three forty three and Andrew.
- 0:42Speaker 1: A couple of months ago, we had a really bad
- 0:44Speaker 1: storm roll through down in Edgerton where I live, and
- 0:49Speaker 1: there are a lot of people going door to door
- 0:51Speaker 1: looking for work. Looking Again, I don't fault anybody for this,
- 0:54Speaker 1: I mean, it's the reality of getting it word out.
- 0:57Speaker 1: One of the things that I was sure to do though,
- 0:59Speaker 1: is to make sure to talk to the people in
- 1:01Speaker 1: my neighborhood about what you guys did for us at
- 1:04Speaker 1: large Snome services, and I sometimes think that's overlooked for
- 1:07Speaker 1: folks that have had an opportunity to work with you Andrew.
- 1:11Speaker 1: It goes so well, it's such a great experience. Unfortunately,
- 1:13Speaker 1: people don't tend to share share that as much as
- 1:16Speaker 1: if they had something not go right. People love talking
- 1:19Speaker 1: about things that don't go right, but when you're consistently good,
- 1:23Speaker 1: sometimes that hurts you. And people just expected and don't
- 1:27Speaker 1: necessarily share that great experience, do they?
- 1:31Speaker 2: No, they don't, but you know what they do share?
- 1:34Speaker 2: What's that bad experience? Oh my goodness. So what we
- 1:37Speaker 2: know and studies have been done on it, is that
- 1:40Speaker 2: it takes ten super happy people to go tell one
- 1:48Speaker 2: person wow, but it takes one upset person to go
- 1:54Speaker 2: tell ten people Okay. So yeah, I mean to a
- 1:58Speaker 2: certain extent, I mean good cuss fromer service and a
- 2:00Speaker 2: good experience is it's expected, and I mean so like
- 2:05Speaker 2: one of our taglines is be part of the experience
- 2:08Speaker 2: Wisconsin's best roofing experience, Wisconsin's best installation experience. And we
- 2:13Speaker 2: do that for a reason because that's truly what we
- 2:16Speaker 2: aim for. Because our ultimate goal, obviously is to help
- 2:20Speaker 2: people fix their homes. We take it very very seriously
- 2:24Speaker 2: because people spend they spend a lot of money on
- 2:27Speaker 2: their homes, right, and what I feel the things that
- 2:31Speaker 2: we do are extremely important for everybody's home. Not everything
- 2:37Speaker 2: that we do is is flashy and you know, it's
- 2:40Speaker 2: not new kitchens and countertops and you know I always
- 2:43Speaker 2: say that because I mean stuff looks really nice. Yeah,
- 2:47Speaker 2: but you know, the things that we do are extremely important.
- 2:50Speaker 2: People spend a ton of money. So we talk about it.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Literally every single week we have a leadership meeting and
- 2:58Speaker 2: we talk about our experience, our touch points, our communication.
- 3:04Speaker 2: It's something that is gone over every day, if not
- 3:07Speaker 2: every other day with our production people. Before they leave
- 3:10Speaker 2: the leave the shop in the morning, go out do
- 3:14Speaker 2: a great job. I mean, what's expected is that we're
- 3:17Speaker 2: going to come out and put a roof on, We're
- 3:18Speaker 2: going to come out and put gutters on, We're going
- 3:20Speaker 2: to come out put insulation or do our ultimate addict
- 3:23Speaker 2: solution or ultimate roofing solution. And it's going to be
- 3:26Speaker 2: done right. But here's the thing, most homeowners wouldn't know
- 3:31Speaker 2: if we did it right or not right. I mean
- 3:34Speaker 2: it's done and you see it. And I always talk
- 3:36Speaker 2: about especially with a roof the most important part of
- 3:38Speaker 2: the roof is covered up. You can't see it anyhow,
- 3:41Speaker 2: So that's just expected. We're going to do a great job.
- 3:43Speaker 2: But the other things are the communication. Was our project
- 3:47Speaker 2: manager polite, was he communicating with the homeowner throughout the process?
- 3:54Speaker 2: Was everything protected around the home? I siding covered, garage
- 4:00Speaker 2: door is covered, exit points covered, air conditioners covered. Was
- 4:03Speaker 2: the cleanup good? I mean, we give a no nail guarantee.
- 4:06Speaker 2: So I know I'm rambling, but these are the things
- 4:11Speaker 2: that are so important for us, simply because with today's
- 4:14Speaker 2: with today's age of Google and Google review Honestly, Google
- 4:19Speaker 2: Google reviews have been I think a god send for homeowners.
- 4:23Speaker 2: To be honest with you, I mean, if I'm going
- 4:26Speaker 2: to look up a contractor and try to spend thousands
- 4:29Speaker 2: of dollars to get something done on my home and
- 4:31Speaker 2: that contractor doesn't even have a Google profile with reviews,
- 4:35Speaker 2: me personally, I'm not going to work with that person.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Because here's the deal. This is like our one author,
- 4:43Speaker 2: this is our one one thing that everybody can use
- 4:48Speaker 2: where they can gain trust in that contractor Okay, we
- 4:51Speaker 2: see that they've done a lot of work, they've got
- 4:53Speaker 2: a lot of reviews. It's really really good. There's a
- 4:57Speaker 2: little bit more trust there. So our whole goal is
- 4:59Speaker 2: to go out fix people's homes, make the experience great,
- 5:04Speaker 2: get a good review, and then we do ask people
- 5:07Speaker 2: if you know anybody who's our services, we would love
- 5:12Speaker 2: to chat with them, and we give referral fees. And
- 5:15Speaker 2: that's really what it comes down to because marketing is
- 5:20Speaker 2: so expensive. Yeah, but telling somebody that you, I mean, honestly,
- 5:26Speaker 2: if if I'm in a neighborhood, I mean I'm in
- 5:29Speaker 2: a neighborhood, I get something done, like I tell people
- 5:32Speaker 2: about it. I'll get my I've had my driveway resealed,
- 5:36Speaker 2: I've had my yard work done. I tell people because
- 5:40Speaker 2: that way they know, like, look, I use them, they
- 5:43Speaker 2: did a great job. There's not a lot more trust
- 5:47Speaker 2: it could be gained than that.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't know that people fully always appreciate
- 5:51Speaker 1: the weight that comes with that is like if you
- 5:53Speaker 1: tell somebody about your experience and you tell them, you know,
- 5:56Speaker 1: what a great job and how satisfied you were, that
- 5:59Speaker 1: carries I don't know that folks fully understand how much
- 6:02Speaker 1: weight that carries and how important that is, not just
- 6:04Speaker 1: obviously to the business, but also to your neighbors. If
- 6:08Speaker 1: you had a good experience, they're going to encounter some
- 6:10Speaker 1: folks out there that are gonna you know, you think
- 6:12Speaker 1: of like the roofing industry. Unfortunately, there are some there
- 6:15Speaker 1: are some cut corner operations out there. There are some
- 6:18Speaker 1: bad actors out there as well. You can help people
- 6:21Speaker 1: avoid that interaction by simply saying I worked with Andrew,
- 6:25Speaker 1: I worked with Larsenalm Services. I did this and it
- 6:28Speaker 1: was a great experience. You can not only is it
- 6:30Speaker 1: good obviously for lar Storm Services, but it's good for
- 6:32Speaker 1: those homeowners as well because they don't have to deal
- 6:34Speaker 1: with some of these you know, these people that don't
- 6:38Speaker 1: have the greatest track record or reputation. You're helping them
- 6:41Speaker 1: make an informed, a great decision based on your actual experience.
- 6:46Speaker 2: We don't want people to get taken advantage of Yeah, right,
- 6:50Speaker 2: and we hear it all the time. I mean when
- 6:52Speaker 2: it comes to the con when it comes to contractors specifically,
- 6:58Speaker 2: they have more complaints than any other industry out there.
- 7:03Speaker 2: But I have a feeling that is changing a little
- 7:06Speaker 2: bit because of the internet. It's just not it's not
- 7:11Speaker 2: easy to screw up a job and walk away from
- 7:14Speaker 2: it and just get away scott free. Sure you're gonna
- 7:17Speaker 2: get called out, and I think that's a good thing.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Where you go back twenty years and that was tough
- 7:24Speaker 2: twenty years In prior it was pretty tough to do.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Guys had come do a job, not do it right
- 7:28Speaker 2: or usually what happened most of the time is that
- 7:32Speaker 2: inexperienced contractors don't really know what it costs to do
- 7:36Speaker 2: the job, do it well, get it done, and stay
- 7:38Speaker 2: in business. That's the biggest part of it. And they
- 7:40Speaker 2: would just get to the point where they run out
- 7:42Speaker 2: of money on jobs and then they're done well. They
- 7:44Speaker 2: could very easily then go close one business, start another
- 7:49Speaker 2: one and nobody would know the difference. So you know,
- 7:52Speaker 2: when you're trying to find somebody, whether it's whatever it is,
- 7:56Speaker 2: whatever home services it is, I mean, make sure they've
- 7:59Speaker 2: been in business for.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Us a long time, and it's oh good, No.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Just say, make sure they've been in business a lot
- 8:04Speaker 2: of time. Look at their reviews. Between Larson and Keeni
- 8:07Speaker 2: Home Services. I think we've talked about this, but we
- 8:09Speaker 2: are one now. We've really joined forces and Larson Keeni
- 8:13Speaker 2: Home Services. I mean we have over twelve hundred reviews,
- 8:16Speaker 2: So twelve hundred reviews and I like a four to
- 8:20Speaker 2: eight or a four to nine. Of course we've made mistakes,
- 8:23Speaker 2: were not perfect, but we've fixed all those mistakes. And
- 8:26Speaker 2: I will say this, most of the bad reviews that
- 8:28Speaker 2: we've actually gotten our people we haven't done work for.
- 8:32Speaker 2: That's like the oddest thing. Like you know, people riding
- 8:35Speaker 2: a bike didn't like someone passing them, or they didn't
- 8:38Speaker 2: like the way that we showed up to their house
- 8:40Speaker 2: looked at the work and were like out of our scope.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Oh one star, I mean, ridiculous. But anyway, it just
- 8:47Speaker 2: seems to be that most of the people we haven't
- 8:49Speaker 2: actually done work for, and the ones that we have
- 8:51Speaker 2: that we made mistakes, we admit it, We suck it up,
- 8:54Speaker 2: we fix it. If we have to redo the whole job,
- 8:56Speaker 2: we redo the whole job. And that I don't like
- 8:59Speaker 2: me seeing anything up. Don't like making mistakes, but if
- 9:02Speaker 2: you stand behind it, fix it. I mean, that's really
- 9:04Speaker 2: all anybody can ask for.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And you mentioned too, you know, it's it's so ironic
- 9:09Speaker 1: that you mentioned I actually have a friend that owns
- 9:11Speaker 1: a business and I had a one star review and
- 9:14Speaker 1: just it's it's really really upsetting her. And and she's like,
- 9:19Speaker 1: I don't even know this person. That's no idea what
- 9:23Speaker 1: they're talking about.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Sometimes it's crazy. I mean, we had one where someone
- 9:29Speaker 2: wanted their whole house spray foamed, and which is something
- 9:34Speaker 2: that we do, but at the time, we were running
- 9:35Speaker 2: low pressure spray foam systems. They're more expensed. They're basically
- 9:39Speaker 2: made for small jobs. Okay, now we've got some high
- 9:43Speaker 2: pressure stuff and we do a lot more of that now.
- 9:45Speaker 2: But this was a few years ago and my rep
- 9:48Speaker 2: called me and he said, hey, this is a whole home.
- 9:50Speaker 2: It's gutted. They're remodeling it. And I was like, no, man,
- 9:55Speaker 2: I said, just be honest with them. Here's the deal.
- 9:58Speaker 2: We run low pressure system they're made for smaller jobs,
- 10:02Speaker 2: and it's going to be so much more expensive for
- 10:06Speaker 2: us to do it than a high pressure rig that here,
- 10:10Speaker 2: here's what we'll do. Here's a good high pressure person.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Give them a call one star review because they took
- 10:18Speaker 2: the morning off from work, and we're just like, what world,
- 10:22Speaker 2: we're trying to help you. You're going to be double
- 10:26Speaker 2: the other person. And then if you're not gonna get
- 10:28Speaker 2: anything more out of it, here, call this person. We
- 10:32Speaker 2: know they do great one star review. Oh my gosh.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Come on.
- 10:39Speaker 1: A couple of things I urge folks to do this morning.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Tell a friend, tell a neighbor. Also, if you've worked
- 10:45Speaker 1: with larg Storm Services, also if you worked large Stop Services,
- 10:48Speaker 1: leave a review, head on to go. Will tell them
- 10:50Speaker 1: about your experience. I know, I know you've probably absolutely
- 10:53Speaker 1: loved it, and it's great to get that feedback. Don't
- 10:55Speaker 1: over not just with large Home Services, any business you visit.
- 10:58Speaker 1: If you get great service, always take the time to
- 11:00Speaker 1: share that experience. It really really does help out getting
- 11:04Speaker 1: the word out and keeps keeps good folks in the
- 11:07Speaker 1: game and really gets them, gets them out there and
- 11:10Speaker 1: really helps homeowners as well. And that the other thing
- 11:12Speaker 1: I want to do this morning is head to the
- 11:13Speaker 1: website Larstomeservices dot com. Even better, give them a call
- 11:17Speaker 1: Larstom Services. Have Andrew and the team come out take

- 11:23Speaker 1: the work that they do at Larstoom Services. Also, first
- 11:26Speaker 1: that first meeting there too, no pressure, it's just a
- 11:28Speaker 1: nice little informative get to know you. They take a
