Sixty-seven adorable harbor seal pups are being hand-raised at the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Society, each given quirky Canadian names like Canadian Bacon. Rescued for abandonment or injury, these pups are taught to swim, hunt, and socialize before being released into the wild—usually after two to three months. While they initially associate caregivers with food, the goal is to foster independence, not habituation.
