The Samuel Richardson Library · Sep 1, 2026 · 35m

In which the poor Pamela, confined and subjected to the scornful and cruel devices of Mrs. Jewkes and her master, withstands the harshness of enforced captivity and the complicated intrigues that surround her honour and fate. She replies with resolute virtue and thoughtful dignity to the unwelcome and ignoble proposals laid before her, maintaining her fidelity to honesty and innocence despite the heavy trials she endures.
