- 0:47Speaker 2: Happy Halloween, Happy Halloween. Yeah, I forgot about that until
- 0:51Speaker 2: I saw.
- 0:53Speaker 1: The skeleton hoodie that Flynn's were. Don't really know where
- 0:56Speaker 1: one would buy a skeleton hoodie like that.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Put this on and said, all the way up it
- 1:00Speaker 4: becomes a skeleton face. Oh okay, I got got on
- 1:04Speaker 4: Instagram ads last year.
- 1:07Speaker 2: What did you think you were getting? No, no, this
- 1:09Speaker 2: is what I thought. But it was like the pop
- 1:11Speaker 2: up ads that oh my god. Oh I like that. Well,
- 1:15Speaker 2: like hoodies and skeletons are pretty cool.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so that so once a year, I'm gonna wear this.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Absolutely actually wore this in the spring one time. It's
- 1:24Speaker 4: kind of weird, but I did it.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Where did you wear that? And did they ask you
- 1:29Speaker 2: to leave? Well?
- 1:30Speaker 4: No, it wasn't like out and probably I just put
- 1:32Speaker 4: it on around the house. Okay, yeah that's not weird.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Ye.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Well your family already probably thinks you're a little weird.
- 1:38Speaker 2: No, no, they love me. I love you. Yep.
- 1:42Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, if you're not a little bit
- 1:43Speaker 4: weird and you're just kind of boring at that point,
- 1:45Speaker 4: that's fair, right, that's fairy.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Spice it up a little bit. I agree.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Family didn't want me to give them stock responses, canned answers,
- 1:54Speaker 4: robot responses. Oh dude, I'm a little a little sad today.
- 2:00Speaker 4: That's this is the last day we're.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Gonna hear us. Yeah, that's true.
- 2:03Speaker 1: And the guy that goes, oh you're scared, I kind
- 2:06Speaker 1: of do, like, remember what movie that's Yeah, te Laandra,
- 2:10Speaker 1: if y'all know what movie that's from, just let me
- 2:12Speaker 1: know you're scary.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I like it as well. It's gonna go where.
- 2:15Speaker 4: I am said, it's been a it's been a hell
- 2:17Speaker 4: of a ride a Landra just tipping the cap to
- 2:19Speaker 4: you on making that in about you know, twelve seconds
- 2:22Speaker 4: that one.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I like it. Yeah, I felt like it.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Anything going on around ben Rouge here.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Lately, or I don't think so we're.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Gonna talk Thursday night football between the Ravens and Dolphins.
- 2:34Speaker 2: That was a dynamic.
- 2:35Speaker 4: I think about two and a half hours of the
- 2:36Speaker 4: show should be dedicated to the Ravens and how just
- 2:41Speaker 4: amazing they are.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Yeah it was. It wasn't a great game, but it
- 2:46Speaker 4: actually talking about I mean, I mean we could just like.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Just could go over it.
- 2:52Speaker 4: I guess the Ravens destroyed the Dolphins. Dolphins or shambles.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it was.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It was more just a joke because there's all the
- 2:58Speaker 1: things going on in Bee.
- 3:00Speaker 4: It did win last week though, Yeah, all right, you're
- 3:03Speaker 4: still talking about it. Still, I'm still going you know,
- 3:07Speaker 4: it is a sports show, Bud, that's fair. Last yesterday
- 3:13Speaker 4: try to be kind of like a political show.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah, for about four minutes. Yeah, we had to cut
- 3:17Speaker 2: that off. Yep.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Well, probably be a little bit more of that today.
- 3:24Speaker 1: So if you're listening to this show, chances are by
- 3:27Speaker 1: now you know that Scott Woodard is no longer the
- 3:30Speaker 1: athletic director at LSU. That is certainly not something that
- 3:35Speaker 1: I thought I would say at any point during any
- 3:39Speaker 1: of this athletic calendar, Because you had national championships in
- 3:46Speaker 1: multiple sports and from coaches that Scott brought in. Now,
- 3:52Speaker 1: obviously you're going to be tied to your football head
- 3:54Speaker 1: coach as much as any just because that's the way
- 3:57Speaker 1: that it goes, dollars and cents of it.
- 4:00Speaker 2: But I didn't expect to be here.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I mean, Scott's somebody that obviously, when he was at
- 4:06Speaker 1: Texas A and M, everyone wanted.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Back at LSU.
- 4:10Speaker 1: He comes to LSU and look, somebody else hired coach O.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But you win a national championship, and your first year here,
- 4:18Speaker 1: everything's going great. You win baseball national championships, women's basketball
- 4:23Speaker 1: national championships when you have been so close before but
- 4:25Speaker 1: you never could get over that hump, and you bring
- 4:28Speaker 1: in Kim Mulki and you finally you get there. Gymnastics
- 4:32Speaker 1: national championships, Soccer programs certainly on much better footing than
- 4:37Speaker 1: it was before.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Like we could go on and on and on.
- 4:40Speaker 1: But it just shows you, you know, how much football
- 4:43Speaker 1: drives the bus for everything.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Yeah, it kind of shows you, like everything's important, Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 4: but it's not real important if football is not hitting
- 4:52Speaker 4: on all cylinders. And that it goes to show you
- 4:55Speaker 4: the importance that you know, this isn't like it isn't
- 4:57Speaker 4: like this at every school, but certainly at LSU.
- 5:00Speaker 2: If football is not healthy.
- 5:02Speaker 4: It doesn't matter what the rest of the sports are
- 5:04Speaker 4: really doing. Clearly were just coming off. We are four
- 5:08Speaker 4: months removed from a national championship in baseball on a
- 5:11Speaker 4: coach that Scot Woodward hired. Yeah, and all of a sudden,
- 5:15Speaker 4: we're three losses into you know, three losses before Halloween
- 5:19Speaker 4: and football, and the athletic director who made that hier
- 5:22Speaker 4: that just won a national championship, he has been relieved
- 5:25Speaker 4: of his duties. And I thought that, you know, I
- 5:28Speaker 4: can speak for probably myself and maybe Jacob here, like
- 5:30Speaker 4: we have a lot of respect for Scott Woodward and
- 5:32Speaker 4: what he's done, and like Jake said, when he came
- 5:34Speaker 4: over here, everybody was dying for him to come back
- 5:37Speaker 4: home and come back here, and because he is known
- 5:41Speaker 4: to be a really good athletic director. And you know,
- 5:46Speaker 4: I think there's a lot of things that we don't
- 5:48Speaker 4: know about this decision on why it happened and why
- 5:51Speaker 4: it came about. I find it wild that it happened
- 5:56Speaker 4: right now, just because.
- 6:00Speaker 2: There's no president, no head coach, no head coach. Mitt
- 6:04Speaker 2: the full time and.
- 6:05Speaker 4: I and you know, I get that if he's not
- 6:10Speaker 4: going to be making the you know, if you knew
- 6:12Speaker 4: Scott wasn't gonna make the hire for the coach, Yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 4: I get you got to get a guy put in
- 6:16Speaker 4: place to start that process. I understand all that, but yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 4: it was a little shocking to see.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Just how faust everything happened.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Well, because you got you got to you got the
- 6:25Speaker 4: head coach getting fired and then all of a sudden,
- 6:27Speaker 4: all this crazy noise from the governor talking about it
- 6:31Speaker 4: and you know, doing all the shows and having the
- 6:33Speaker 4: press commerce and all of a sudden, right on the heels.
- 6:35Speaker 4: I mean, there was no other option after all that, Right,
- 6:38Speaker 4: it's to happen, But just to see it happened kind
- 6:41Speaker 4: of surreal. We're living in a surreal moment and Louisiana
- 6:44Speaker 4: all eyes have, boy have they.
- 6:49Speaker 1: It's not been the best light shined on Louisiana over
- 6:53Speaker 1: the last week.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Can tell you that. Yep, all because you lost a
- 6:56Speaker 2: couple of football games.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah, and it just continues to what feels like a
- 7:01Speaker 1: downward spiral right now. One piece of the Ross Dellinger
- 7:06Speaker 1: article that I did find very interesting. He was talking
- 7:10Speaker 1: about how the relationship between Governor Landry and Scott Wildward.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You know, obviously it goes back, and it goes back
- 7:18Speaker 1: to when the governor wanted to rehire Will Wade last
- 7:21Speaker 1: year and Scott refused.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I saw, And there's probably some you know,
- 7:26Speaker 4: deeper political things seated before all this, but yeah, I
- 7:29Speaker 4: did read that. So reportedly the governor wanted Scott to
- 7:34Speaker 4: hire Will Wade back. Of course, Scott was here for
- 7:36Speaker 4: you know, five years at a I guess what, three
- 7:40Speaker 4: three NCAA tournaments, one hundred and five and fifty one record,
- 7:43Speaker 4: and went to McNeese down the road to kind of
- 7:45Speaker 4: rehab his career after you know, getting fired here for
- 7:49Speaker 4: doing something that's perfectly legal a year later. So yeah,
- 7:54Speaker 4: I can yeah, sure, yeah, And but still to that point,
- 7:59Speaker 4: it's like it's played that yeah, the political someone in
- 8:04Speaker 4: the political office is trying to yeah yeah, basketball head coach.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Pretty wild yeah, wild times it is.
- 8:13Speaker 1: And just a lot of a lot of misinformation out
- 8:16Speaker 1: there about who's whose agent is whose agent, and and
- 8:20Speaker 1: that not being factual, and who actually signed you know,
- 8:24Speaker 1: Jimbo's buy out that was you know, Ross York signed
- 8:27Speaker 1: that extension. Actually I talked to Jimbo yesterday on the phone.
- 8:30Speaker 1: He's like, no, I you know we did that deal
- 8:34Speaker 1: or all signed it. And because he called me, he's
- 8:36Speaker 1: like what's going on? Like how long you got coach?
- 8:41Speaker 1: And you know, he's like, oh, I'm ready to talk.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Jim is always ready to talk.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Got what I did find that so this was I
- 8:47Speaker 4: read this on the article from the Athletic. It's talking
- 8:51Speaker 4: about Scott Woodward's contract and how you know a lot
- 8:55Speaker 4: of this, a lot of the fuss is being made
- 8:57Speaker 4: from the Governor's office because of the taxpayer dollars in
- 8:59Speaker 4: the well. On Scott's contract, I think he has a
- 9:02Speaker 4: north of six million dollar buyout and that's reportably supposed
- 9:07Speaker 4: to be paid through the year twenty twenty nine. Now
- 9:10Speaker 4: what I did kind of find interesting is, you know,
- 9:14Speaker 4: I know that I know that these contracts come with
- 9:16Speaker 4: offset language, just like Brian Kelly's contract comes with offset language,
- 9:20Speaker 4: which means like, if you get another job or a
- 9:22Speaker 4: similar position, the money you make there offsets the buyout.
- 9:27Speaker 4: So yeah, if you get another head coaching job and
- 9:30Speaker 4: it makes you know, ten million dollars a year whatever
- 9:32Speaker 4: it is, five million dollars a year, that offsets that's
- 9:35Speaker 4: something that LSU or whoever, whoever it is, I don't
- 9:39Speaker 4: know who's being reported.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Whoever it is doesn't have to pay.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Yeah, And I also thought it was interesting that said they're,
- 9:46Speaker 4: per contract, required to attempt to find another like Scott's
- 9:52Speaker 4: required to attempt to find another athletic director job or
- 9:56Speaker 4: a similar position to offset to initiate that offset pay
- 10:00Speaker 4: out language, which is a fascinating sentence for me when
- 10:05Speaker 4: I'm reading a contract, because right, what does requirements mean?
- 10:09Speaker 4: Is there are the requirements laid out? Like is it
- 10:12Speaker 4: something that you just have to like go through the
- 10:16Speaker 4: motions and make.
- 10:18Speaker 1: A couple of calls like when you have you know,
- 10:20Speaker 1: your your son and your daughter whatever whatever, and you're like, hey,
- 10:23Speaker 1: you need to find a job if you're living in
- 10:24Speaker 1: my house, and they like, dude, I like filled out
- 10:28Speaker 1: seven indeed dot com applications.
- 10:30Speaker 2: What do you mean? It's like, Oh, did you really?
- 10:32Speaker 2: Is it like that effort effort tuxedo to my job interview? Yeah,
- 10:36Speaker 2: now the tuxedos kind of seem kind of yeah.
- 10:40Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. Is it that type of situation? Like what's
- 10:43Speaker 4: what can you manipulate that sentence? If it's an interesting
- 10:48Speaker 4: sentence to me just saying they're required, and it says
- 10:50Speaker 4: it's similar language to Brian Kelly.
- 10:52Speaker 2: He is, Look, I'm reading this. I don't like.
- 10:55Speaker 4: I didn't fact check this. I don't have a copy
- 10:57Speaker 4: of the contract was reported. It's the same type of language.
- 11:01Speaker 4: It's in Brian Kelly's requirements to go find another job
- 11:05Speaker 4: or attempt to find a similar job. Now if he
- 11:09Speaker 4: you know, it becomes you know, because Starbucks becomes a barista, like,
- 11:14Speaker 4: it's probably not the same type of offsets up a
- 11:17Speaker 4: similar type of yeah, similar type of the baristas out there.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Shout out hard working. I did it earlier than everybody.
- 11:23Speaker 2: It's true, it's true. Uh yeah. So there there's the
- 11:27Speaker 2: numbers that we that we know.
- 11:29Speaker 1: The over fifty million, the over six million, and then
- 11:31Speaker 1: there's a lot that you hear about what those numbers
- 11:34Speaker 1: could actually be. And that look, that's going to be
- 11:36Speaker 1: for LSU's sake, that's going to be very very important.
- 11:39Speaker 1: And because you still got to hire a head coach,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you've got to hire a new athletic director. Uh you know,
- 11:45Speaker 1: you'll have a president here. Uh you know, a couple
- 11:48Speaker 1: of weeks week whatever time. That three pretty big positions
- 11:51Speaker 1: of phil Yeah, like can we talk about alignment, Well,
- 11:53Speaker 1: it's pretty misaligned right now. Yeah, with no person full
- 11:57Speaker 1: time in any of the three positions. And that's why,
- 12:00Speaker 1: like when you talk about well, I think it was
- 12:02Speaker 1: Georgia that we used yesterday, Like President ad Head coach
- 12:07Speaker 1: all have degrees from Georgia.
- 12:08Speaker 2: And again you don't have to. I'm not saying that.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I'm not saying that you have to have LSU R
- 12:12Speaker 1: Louisian ties. I'm just saying like their alignment like is
- 12:15Speaker 1: through that they all three have some sort of a
- 12:17Speaker 1: Georgia degree. Even Josh Brooks who has an undergrad from LSU,
- 12:20Speaker 1: like he's got a Georgia degree as well. And they together, right,
- 12:25Speaker 1: they work through every situation together, and they work together
- 12:29Speaker 1: and they're friendly together. Like you have to have that.
- 12:32Speaker 1: You got to be on the same page. Again, I
- 12:34Speaker 1: don't care where you're from. I don't care you know
- 12:37Speaker 1: if you've got Louisiana ties. But that's that has to happen.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You have to have that alignment. I mean, remember Brian
- 12:44Speaker 1: Kelly talked about that alignment seventy three times in his
- 12:46Speaker 1: opening press conference. That's when that became a buzzword. Well
- 12:51Speaker 1: right now, you don't have it at all.
- 12:54Speaker 2: You don't know.
- 12:55Speaker 1: You know, you got an idea obviously, I who your
- 12:57Speaker 1: president's going to be, and it's going to be announced
- 12:58Speaker 1: here coming up. You got no idea on head coach.
- 13:03Speaker 1: And with the athletic director. I think you have some idea,
- 13:06Speaker 1: but you have to respect that job too, and you've
- 13:09Speaker 1: got to open up all possibilities to who your athletic
- 13:12Speaker 1: director is going to be. There is people with you
- 13:15Speaker 1: know LSU ties, Like we mentioned that if you want
- 13:17Speaker 1: to try to bring somebody who's in a really good spot, well,
- 13:21Speaker 1: you typically pull on the heartstrings a little bit like, hey,
- 13:23Speaker 1: you want to come back home?
- 13:24Speaker 2: Yep.
- 13:25Speaker 1: So is that what they're going to do? Are you know,
- 13:27Speaker 1: are they tired of the big game hunting that a
- 13:30Speaker 1: lot of people feel like, got LSU in trouble with
- 13:33Speaker 1: the Brian Kelly contract. Do they want somebody that's under
- 13:36Speaker 1: the radar, somebody that's maybe you know, a grinder behind
- 13:39Speaker 1: the scenes and does all the things that you have
- 13:42Speaker 1: to do, and it's well respected.
- 13:43Speaker 2: But maybe you don't know his name. It's I mean,
- 13:46Speaker 2: I like that one.
- 13:47Speaker 1: But yeah, you do that though, And I and I'm
- 13:48Speaker 1: with you, but you know how this works. You do that,
- 13:51Speaker 1: you fire somebody that everybody knew in the ad world
- 13:54Speaker 1: for somebody that not a lot know.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Well, you can get fired either way, no questions.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I'm just saying it's going to be three months of
- 14:02Speaker 1: we hire this guy, and not for me, but from
- 14:05Speaker 1: the masses.
- 14:08Speaker 4: I hear you, I'm with you, and I gave this
- 14:11Speaker 4: morning yesterday. I mean, you're looking for a head Coach's
- 14:13Speaker 4: pretty pretty darn simple. For me, it's like, what to
- 14:17Speaker 4: not hire is the guy that's a really polished speaker.
- 14:21Speaker 4: And to me, it's if you're a polish speaker, if
- 14:24Speaker 4: you talk like a politician, if you can go work
- 14:26Speaker 4: a room and a crowd, and you know, name me
- 14:31Speaker 4: a head coach that was a Polish speaker. I don't
- 14:34Speaker 4: know if you can. Now, don't confuse the word polished
- 14:37Speaker 4: with good. Yeah, being a good speaker.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Coach Saban's not a Polish speaker. Nope, he's a very
- 14:44Speaker 1: good speaker. And when he talks you listen. But Jimba
- 14:48Speaker 1: Fisher is not a polished speaker. But because they'll find
- 14:50Speaker 1: something that either makes them happy or mad, most times
- 14:54Speaker 1: mad when they're talking and they'll kind of go they'll
- 14:57Speaker 1: veer off a little bit, and they'll go off on
- 14:58Speaker 1: that and then they'll come back right.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, So the people that people want right now,
- 15:02Speaker 4: Elaine Kiffin, is he Polish speaker? No, No, you're got
- 15:10Speaker 4: in Arizona State break key, nope. Bill Belichick, nope. The
- 15:16Speaker 4: greatest of all times, those coaches. Nobody's a Polish speaker
- 15:21Speaker 4: that leads to that that gives people an uneasy I
- 15:23Speaker 4: feel like it's always given me an uneasy feeling. And
- 15:26Speaker 4: I think that was a lot of the big question
- 15:27Speaker 4: marks with Brian Kelly. He was such a Polish speaker,
- 15:29Speaker 4: like everything. If you had a transcri transcript of every
- 15:33Speaker 4: press conference all the things that he says, you're like,
- 15:35Speaker 4: that's a those are that's a really good statement.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Yeah, those are if you read it and didn't listen
- 15:39Speaker 1: to those are good words.
- 15:41Speaker 4: But it's like it's like most politicians, it's like, I
- 15:44Speaker 4: don't know if I trust you.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know, right, just don't know about it. Yeah,
- 15:48Speaker 2: it's fair. I mean, even just never know what's coming
- 15:51Speaker 2: from the heart and what it's actually inside, right.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Even when you and I like when somebody asked us
- 15:57Speaker 1: to come speak to somebody, and you kind of know
- 15:59Speaker 1: that you're when to do it, and you know for
- 16:01Speaker 1: a week you're gonna go do it. It's like you
- 16:03Speaker 1: got all these notes and you're trying to be perfect
- 16:05Speaker 1: and you're basically trying to read it, you know, word
- 16:08Speaker 1: for word. I don't ever feel like those are any good.
- 16:11Speaker 1: I don't feel like those are any good. But like
- 16:13Speaker 1: when he's like Yesterday's like hey, hey, come up, hees
- 16:19Speaker 1: talk to the team, I typically feel like those are
- 16:21Speaker 1: the ones that hit home a little bit more because
- 16:24Speaker 1: they're coming from your heart and they're coming from a
- 16:26Speaker 1: place of what your habits are or whatever that might be.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And so I mean, I hear, I understand what you're saying.
- 16:32Speaker 1: It's like almost somebody that you know galvanizes his team
- 16:38Speaker 1: and does all those things, but it doesn't feel like
- 16:41Speaker 1: he's reading football one oh one to you coach speak right.
- 16:45Speaker 1: It feels like he's got some passion behind his voice.
- 16:48Speaker 1: It feels like he's got some pain in his voice
- 16:49Speaker 1: a little bit rights, trials and tribulations like whatever it
- 16:52Speaker 1: might be, because like it means that much to him.
- 16:55Speaker 4: Yeah, somebody that is a little bit annoyed that a
- 16:58Speaker 4: camera's at his face because because he could be watching
- 17:01Speaker 4: some some good film at that point, right, yes, it
- 17:03Speaker 4: could be on he could be chewing.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Someone out at that point. Yeah. No, he's got to
- 17:08Speaker 2: be here doing an interview.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Oh so I love to get to a ton to get.
- 17:13Speaker 2: To uh F.
- 17:14Speaker 1: One's going to try to get back to that Thursday
- 17:15Speaker 1: night football game again.
- 17:16Speaker 2: We won't let him. Don't worry.
- 17:18Speaker 1: We'll have us on Dolphins toa We ain't talking Dolphin
- 17:21Speaker 1: Bama Raven.
- 17:22Speaker 2: We play Bama. Yeah, the connection, you see it, I
- 17:24Speaker 2: see it.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, but my god, that was a bad football
- 17:28Speaker 1: game last night. All right, we will take a break.

- 18:08Speaker 1: something right there on that homepage that you're highly intrigued with,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and you want to put together five different things from
- 18:14Speaker 1: all the pools that they've done over at Russell Pol's

- 18:18Speaker 1: can do it at Russellpools dot com.
- 18:20Speaker 4: That's right, Russell Pool Company, the name that you think

- 18:28Speaker 4: pools pool design.
- 18:29Speaker 2: They can do everything. They can turn key your products.
- 18:32Speaker 4: So if you got to like a design of mind,
- 18:33Speaker 4: if you have materials of mine, if you have something

- 18:38Speaker 4: dream to reality. They can design it, they can draw it,

- 19:08Speaker 2: Tigers turn Talkers. This is off the bench, all.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Right, welcome back in. It is OTB here. We are
- 19:21Speaker 1: live from rouse Is on Burbank and Lee. The store
- 19:24Speaker 1: is starting to pick up already and it's only seven
- 19:28Speaker 1: twenty three. Multiple, multiple times I've seen and right now,
- 19:31Speaker 1: if you're watching some on camera, somebody's hitting the breakfast bar.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Right now, these people can see the guy hitting the
- 19:37Speaker 1: breakfast bar. Watch out, move skeleton. Thank you. We are
- 19:42Speaker 1: here on this football Friday, and it's been a week
- 19:45Speaker 1: in which we haven't talked a lot of actual football
- 19:47Speaker 1: games because of all the news surrounding LSU football, LSU athletics. Now,
- 19:53Speaker 1: so at some point today we'll certainly get back into
- 19:57Speaker 1: the actual football portion of the football.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Heke in on a football Did you just say, Yeah.
- 20:02Speaker 4: We hadn't talked a lot of football this week. We're
- 20:05Speaker 4: still not going to do it right now.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I was just letting them know, like if they're like, hey,
- 20:09Speaker 1: they got games this weekend, even though LSU doesn't break
- 20:11Speaker 1: up against typically we would have already done that and
- 20:14Speaker 1: broken down like all the SEC matchups. But with everything
- 20:18Speaker 1: going on around LSU Louisiana, just all the stuff, all
- 20:25Speaker 1: the things, and it's going to be Look, it's going
- 20:31Speaker 1: to be as intriguing as anything that we've seen, I
- 20:35Speaker 1: think in recent memory, because it's all happening at the
- 20:39Speaker 1: same time with the president, with the athletic director, with
- 20:43Speaker 1: the head coach. And you know, look, when you move
- 20:47Speaker 1: on from somebody like Scott Woodard, who's you know, got
- 20:51Speaker 1: the trophies and the trophy case in multiple sports, and
- 20:55Speaker 1: then you move on from Brian Kelly, who's got all
- 20:57Speaker 1: the wins now didn't have the trophies, but had the
- 21:00Speaker 1: wins and had a name. Certainly it's it's going to
- 21:07Speaker 1: be under a microscope. I think we all know that
- 21:09Speaker 1: you got the governor of Louisiana involved, but when you
- 21:12Speaker 1: move on from that, it doesn't mean you have to
- 21:17Speaker 1: replicate what you just had as well. Like you, I
- 21:20Speaker 1: was just talking about maybe getting in under the radar,
- 21:23Speaker 1: ad and I think you were intrigued maybe by that.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I'm intrigued by that.
- 21:28Speaker 1: At the head coaching position, I look, I think the
- 21:31Speaker 1: list of candidates is good. I think there's people on
- 21:34Speaker 1: that list that can come in here and can be successful.
- 21:37Speaker 1: But also I'm like, hey, just because maybe you don't
- 21:40Speaker 1: know the resume of this head coach, Allah Kenney Dillingham
- 21:45Speaker 1: at Arizona State, that does not mean that they're not
- 21:49Speaker 1: fit for a job like this. It doesn't mean that
- 21:51Speaker 1: they couldn't come in and do a hell of a job.
- 21:53Speaker 1: If you don't know who Brent Key is at Georgia Tech. Again,
- 21:56Speaker 1: it's not Lane Kiffin, it's not Dan Lanning. But it
- 21:59Speaker 1: doesn't mean that he's got the number sevent team in
- 22:01Speaker 1: the country right now, Like, it doesn't mean that they
- 22:04Speaker 1: can't do a great job. LSU need somebody to come in.
- 22:08Speaker 1: That is, and I've said it all week, I'll continue
- 22:11Speaker 1: to say it, that is going to desire this job
- 22:15Speaker 1: more than anything in his life. Right it's family one
- 22:20Speaker 1: A and then this, this job would have to be
- 22:22Speaker 1: one B. Not like let's get the good lords and
- 22:24Speaker 1: props he's up there? Is that not including family? Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 1: I mean kind of understand. I mean, shout out to
- 22:34Speaker 1: the good Lord. But you know what I mean, It's
- 22:38Speaker 1: like he's so honored to be here and finds it
- 22:42Speaker 1: is such a privilege to be here and worked his
- 22:45Speaker 1: ass off his entire life to get this job. I
- 22:48Speaker 1: know it's seven twenty six Memphis. I'm sorry, but that's
- 22:52Speaker 1: what he did, you know what I mean, And not
- 22:54Speaker 1: like oh well, you're lucky to have me, or have
- 22:58Speaker 1: you seen my resume? Have you've seen what I've done?
- 23:01Speaker 1: That's not what they need. They need somebody that it
- 23:04Speaker 1: could be. There's so many names that that person could be.
- 23:07Speaker 1: And I just think we we have to hear all
- 23:10Speaker 1: of the things out and not just say boom this guy,
- 23:14Speaker 1: but link if it or bus. It's like no, no, no,
- 23:16Speaker 1: no no. I'm not saying Lane wouldn't do a good job.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I like Lane. I think Lane's one of the best
- 23:21Speaker 1: football minds we have. I think he calls an offensive
- 23:24Speaker 1: game better than anybody we have.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Yep.
- 23:26Speaker 1: But I think right now, where you're at the time
- 23:29Speaker 1: that you have when you made that, you really need
- 23:33Speaker 1: to open your mind to maybe it's ten guys, and
- 23:37Speaker 1: you need to find out what's in those ten guys' hearts.
- 23:40Speaker 1: You need to find out where they're at.
- 23:42Speaker 2: You need to find out their work ethic and why.
- 23:45Speaker 1: They want this LSU job, like all those things, because
- 23:48Speaker 1: I think you're coming off a complete opposite situation from
- 23:51Speaker 1: what you had.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Yep.
- 23:53Speaker 4: It needs to be a over the top, in depth
- 24:00Speaker 4: search for a head coach.
- 24:02Speaker 2: That is.
- 24:04Speaker 4: That you're looking at more than just career records. You're
- 24:07Speaker 4: looking at more than just the flash, the sizzle, whatever
- 24:11Speaker 4: it is. Any And I think the uncertainty from from
- 24:15Speaker 4: fans comes from all right, now, like you got to
- 24:18Speaker 4: fill so many positions. Who's who's going to make that decision?
- 24:23Speaker 4: Is this guy going to be qualified to do that?
- 24:25Speaker 4: Is this guy going to be like? All right, well,
- 24:27Speaker 4: you know, I'm in a new position as the president
- 24:31Speaker 4: at LSU, and you know I'm gonna go with the
- 24:34Speaker 4: guy that everybody would pick because that's safe, right, that's safe. Well,
- 24:37Speaker 4: anybody can come. I could be the president and I
- 24:39Speaker 4: could come and you know, call call Lane Kiffin's agent
- 24:43Speaker 4: and asked if he wants to be the coach. Like
- 24:45Speaker 4: anybody can do that, anybody. It takes a guy to
- 24:49Speaker 4: do it in depth. Like now, okay, if you do
- 24:51Speaker 4: an in debt search and you're looking at all those guys,
- 24:53Speaker 4: you're looking at big schools, medium schools, small schools, you're
- 24:56Speaker 4: looking at the guys that are, just like you said,
- 24:58Speaker 4: have that passion, would do, would die.
- 25:01Speaker 2: To come here and be the coach.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Yeah, young, old, whatever it is, it doesn't matter. If
- 25:06Speaker 4: you do that, and then you're like, yeah, all right,
- 25:08Speaker 4: Lane is it's actually that dude, that's it.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Like I've done it, and he meets all the requirements.
- 25:13Speaker 4: He impressed me overall everybody else then that that's one thing.
- 25:18Speaker 4: But anybody can just come in in day one say hey,
- 25:20Speaker 4: Dan Lane and you want a big LSU coach, you.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Want to do that? Yeah?
- 25:24Speaker 1: Anybody, name your number exactly. Anybody can do that. Yeah,
- 25:28Speaker 1: And that doesn't help LSU football. It's not to say
- 25:30Speaker 1: that Dan Lenning's not awesome. He's incredible. I love him
- 25:33Speaker 1: because great pregame halftime speeches, always has his team ready
- 25:37Speaker 1: to go.
- 25:37Speaker 2: But that's easy. This should not be easy.
- 25:40Speaker 1: This should be we turned over every stone to make
- 25:44Speaker 1: sure we had the right person. You've got time, it is,
- 25:48Speaker 1: I feel like you because today's Halloween. I looked at
- 25:50Speaker 1: my watch up today it is October thirty. First, you've
- 25:54Speaker 1: got some time. Put that time to use. Get a president,
- 25:58Speaker 1: figure out who the athletic director going to be. Hell,
- 26:01Speaker 1: figure out who's going to hire this coach. Is it
- 26:03Speaker 1: going to be the board of supervisors? Is how much
- 26:06Speaker 1: is the governor going to be involved? Is a board
- 26:08Speaker 1: of supervisors going to put together a committee? Figure that
- 26:12Speaker 1: out as well, which I'm sure they are right now.
- 26:14Speaker 1: And by the way, Flynn and Hester put us on
- 26:16Speaker 1: the committee and move forward together. Figure it out together,
- 26:22Speaker 1: get a plan together, and do your job, do some work,
- 26:27Speaker 1: figure out who they is.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's a great point that you make.
- 26:29Speaker 1: It's easy to call Dan Lanning hey man, fourteen million
- 26:32Speaker 1: a years sound great?
- 26:33Speaker 4: All right, cool, I'm a new president law. If he
- 26:36Speaker 4: didn't work out, you can't blame me.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Everybody. Everybody would have taken him. Yeah, that was the
- 26:40Speaker 2: right pick. Right.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Look, you're at a crossroads right now, and I think
- 26:46Speaker 1: there's a list of ten guys, and hell, we could
- 26:49Speaker 1: do it today. I can give you ten guys that
- 26:53Speaker 1: you should talk to and you should have a conversation with.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And it can be in person conversation, a little more
- 26:59Speaker 1: in debt if they seriously are the final three or
- 27:02Speaker 1: whatever it might be. But have those conversations. You've got time,
- 27:05Speaker 1: get aligned and figure it out.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Yep.
- 27:11Speaker 4: And yeah, when when we come back from break, I
- 27:17Speaker 4: want to ask you about your opinions on somebody that's
- 27:19Speaker 4: really popular right now. I see it all over my
- 27:21Speaker 4: Twitter feed. A guy that we played with, yep, a
- 27:25Speaker 4: guy that is calling some x's and o's, a little
- 27:27Speaker 4: defense up there in the NFL YEP in the Great North.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I want to ask your opinion on that, all right.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I actually got a endorsement for that person at five
- 27:36Speaker 1: o'clock this morning. Yeah, we'll talk about it and we'll
- 27:40Speaker 1: continue to talk candidates for the LSU job.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Again, no game for LSU this weekend.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Probably more in our number three when we're you know,
- 27:49Speaker 1: giving you what's the ticket, we're giving you our pontoon parlay.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Maybe we get more into all the games going on
- 27:54Speaker 1: across the country. More OTB Live when we come back

- 30:24Speaker 2: It's pink out game. What is okay?
- 30:27Speaker 4: What movie does Madison Prep remind you of from the nineties?
- 30:31Speaker 2: Madison Prep? Yep, movie from the nineties. I don't know,
- 30:38Speaker 2: Major Pain. Do you remember that movie pre okay? And
- 30:46Speaker 2: they had the Army Games where the My dad loved
- 30:55Speaker 2: that movie. Yeah, the R O. T. C. Like they
- 30:59Speaker 2: have they had those games. Yeah, what a good movie.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Great movie. A little kid's name was Tiger. Yeah.
- 31:06Speaker 1: The way your brain works is fascinating.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Thank you. You should be studied. Thank you.
- 31:10Speaker 4: I should be studied. You should be studied. God, what
- 31:13Speaker 4: a great movie. I've seen that a long time.
- 31:15Speaker 1: That Tayler says Virginia Military Game, so he's obviously a
- 31:18Speaker 1: fan as well.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Great movie, Madison Prep.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Yeah, now this one's in in Baton Rouge. Yeah, all right,
- 31:24Speaker 1: Dune Street.
- 31:24Speaker 4: So you're not playing the Virginia Nope, military not this week?
- 31:27Speaker 2: Okay, not this week? All right? So how do you
- 31:31Speaker 2: so it's a big, big game, like how do you
- 31:34Speaker 2: trick or treat? Uh?
- 31:35Speaker 1: So, So Katie's taking Memphis, Hudson and Knox uh to
- 31:40Speaker 1: trick or treat earlier. All right, I'm going to set
- 31:44Speaker 1: up because like I need to see pregame warm ups,
- 31:47Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like I need I need
- 31:48Speaker 1: to have like a second ten second conversation with Jackson
- 31:51Speaker 1: right before the game, reminding him to set his jaw
- 31:55Speaker 1: and get.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Ready to play. Yep. So like I like to see that.
- 31:57Speaker 1: So I think they're all gonna just go tricker treat early,
- 32:00Speaker 1: and then high tail it to Complex to watch the game,
- 32:03Speaker 1: because you know, you get you know, Harlowe obviously Halloween
- 32:06Speaker 1: probably the first time that she's going to you know,
- 32:10Speaker 1: be able to walk around and to hold deal by
- 32:12Speaker 1: yourself and so.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Gotta do it. So you got some good costumes. What's
- 32:22Speaker 4: I don't care about everybody else. What's what's Harlowe doing?
- 32:24Speaker 4: What's she dressed up as?
- 32:25Speaker 2: Uh? I would you get a princess?
- 32:27Speaker 4: I mean, I mean we've been to do that before,
- 32:29Speaker 4: you know, So that's what it's gonna be.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's you know, it's like kids costumes, just just
- 32:35Speaker 1: like hey, what are you? And then like Hudson's going
- 32:37Speaker 1: to be like a penguin. He's got this penguin costume.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And you ask Memphis Hey, what are you going to be?
- 32:41Speaker 1: He's just like six things kind of put together that
- 32:43Speaker 1: he found in the costume drawer. Sure, going to go
- 32:48Speaker 1: like of your kiddos.
- 32:50Speaker 2: I bet hugs got a good one. Yeah. This year,
- 32:54Speaker 2: it's he's doing.
- 32:55Speaker 4: He's getting a little bit more aggressive. He just turned ten,
- 32:57Speaker 4: so he's starting to get a little bit more aggressive.
- 32:59Speaker 2: He's going to be the Grim Reaper. Okay.
- 33:01Speaker 4: And he's got like a mask that I think has
- 33:03Speaker 4: like some like led lights on it.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, so it's a little bit.
- 33:07Speaker 4: They've never really done anything scary or try, like, you know,
- 33:10Speaker 4: attempt to be kind of scary. So yeah, he's got
- 33:12Speaker 4: that going on. And I can't remember. You know, it's
- 33:14Speaker 4: gonna be some good ones. But that just showed you
- 33:17Speaker 4: the break. But should we do, you'll want to see
- 33:19Speaker 4: my costume right now?
- 33:22Speaker 2: Sure, bud? Okay, this is okay. This is from Instagram
- 33:24Speaker 2: ads last year. Check this out.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, why do I not hear myself either?
- 33:35Speaker 2: Oh there we go.
- 33:36Speaker 1: You hit buttons? See when you look like an idiot?
- 33:39Speaker 1: You hit the button to turn my microphone off as well? Uh,
- 33:42Speaker 1: like Muso said, don't go into a bank today with
- 33:44Speaker 1: that up. Not be good not be a good situation
- 33:47Speaker 1: for you. And I also can't believe that that Instagram
- 33:50Speaker 1: ad got you on that.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Yeah, it got me. But it's also pretty high quality. Okay,
- 33:57Speaker 4: obviously clearly y'all see that. Just it's the hood tipped
- 34:01Speaker 4: it right up. Look, thanks skeleton Face. I was pretty
- 34:04Speaker 4: excited when I saw it, and I got it.
- 34:06Speaker 1: I can tell you've been excited to show it. That's
- 34:08Speaker 1: now twice in about three minutes.
- 34:10Speaker 4: I know, well, you know, I forget that. I have
- 34:13Speaker 4: it until Halloween. Tell my word all day. We're tonight.
- 34:19Speaker 4: We got a little trigger treat. We got a little
- 34:21Speaker 4: neighborhood a hood party.
- 34:25Speaker 2: It's gonna be exciting, a little outdoor situation. Okay, everyone
- 34:27Speaker 2: bring in some treats. Everyone bringing some food. I guess
- 34:31Speaker 2: you don't.
- 34:31Speaker 1: You know you don't want to come watch some great
- 34:33Speaker 1: high school football. This guy's not a real ball guy.
- 34:38Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, I forgot. We had some plans yesterday,
- 34:44Speaker 4: but I'm not. I can't get into the Thursday night
- 34:47Speaker 4: high school football. Always forget about it, like last night. Yeah,
- 34:50Speaker 4: you're asking us about played Episcopal. Yeah, and we we
- 34:54Speaker 4: love to go to the games, but they've played so
- 34:55Speaker 4: many Thursday night games this year, Like I always forget
- 34:58Speaker 4: it's on Thursday. Who's ready for a high schoo football
- 35:00Speaker 4: game on Thursday? I think it called Thursday Night Lights.
- 35:04Speaker 4: It's fair about the name of the show or the movie.
- 35:07Speaker 2: It's fair. Stop playing them on Thursdays. I do enjoy
- 35:10Speaker 2: Thursday night games.
- 35:11Speaker 1: For you high you can keep playing those because that
- 35:14Speaker 1: means when I traveled to call LSU games, I don't
- 35:16Speaker 1: miss my son's game or have to drive myself to
- 35:20Speaker 1: any of these locations, and so you can continue to
- 35:23Speaker 1: play Thursday games with some Fridays sprinkled in. No, I
- 35:30Speaker 1: didn't play Thursday games in high school now Texas.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Hell, No, are you kidding?
- 35:36Speaker 1: It's so good of a product you can't do it
- 35:39Speaker 1: on Thursday nights.
- 35:40Speaker 2: No, that's for j that's freshman jab Monday nights here.
- 35:46Speaker 1: So I know in shrefor growing up, they did Thursday
- 35:49Speaker 1: night games because of stadium access. So there was a
- 35:53Speaker 1: couple of stadiums that multiple schools use. Not everybody had
- 35:56Speaker 1: their own stadium like we had ours at evangel but
- 36:01Speaker 1: uh like Southwood and and Bird and Captain Shreeve and
- 36:06Speaker 1: fair Park and Huntington like they all shared multiple stadiums,
- 36:09Speaker 1: so that was why they're.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Multiple teams, Like more than two teams share a stadium
- 36:14Speaker 2: in different places.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and just got to like try to find a
- 36:18Speaker 1: way to get everybody a game time.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, Dunham and Episcopal they have their own stadium.
- 36:26Speaker 2: That's I tried. I tried. You're right, You're right, I
- 36:31Speaker 2: get it on those occasions.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Great, we shared a stadium and in Tyler, Texas with
- 36:34Speaker 4: our crosstown rivals, but you get what.
- 36:37Speaker 2: You and John Tyler's share stadium.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Yeah still yeah, yeah, Rose Stadium, Yeah, Tyler, the Rose
- 36:49Speaker 4: Capital of the world, Tyler Rose, Rose Stadium, Campbell.
- 36:53Speaker 2: We get it.
- 36:53Speaker 4: But you know what, like before the season, you know
- 36:56Speaker 4: that both of the people that ran the schedules.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Were like, Hey, I got an idea.
- 37:02Speaker 4: Y'all play at home, and when y'all play at home,
- 37:04Speaker 4: we'll play away and then the next week we'll just switch.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Yeah, well just figure that out. I got you, so
- 37:09Speaker 2: you can keep it on Fridays. I got you, I
- 37:12Speaker 2: got you.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Survived six two three says Evangel played at LCA last
- 37:18Speaker 1: night in Lafayette. So Angel did play on Thursday night.
- 37:21Speaker 1: There you go.
- 37:24Speaker 2: Good, great, keep coming let's play you Wednesday. Fair Park
- 37:30Speaker 2: had its own stadium. Fairgrounds was our home stadium.
- 37:32Speaker 1: It was for a little bit, but because fair Parks
- 37:35Speaker 1: right across the street from Independent Stadium. But they also
- 37:38Speaker 1: shared that with like Southwood and Huntington and all those
- 37:42Speaker 1: other schools, and then Bird and Captain Shreeve shared lee
- 37:44Speaker 1: hedges and so it's a lot of sharing going on.
- 37:47Speaker 2: I go south there.
- 37:48Speaker 4: The chat says Louisiana moved to a ton of games
- 37:51Speaker 4: on Thursday and Saturday due to major shortage of referees.
- 37:55Speaker 1: This Saturday Saturday games that that doesn't feel I didn't
- 38:02Speaker 1: feel right. I just ain't right.
- 38:05Speaker 4: So people go get your go, get your Sieber stripes on,
- 38:10Speaker 4: and let's get some more refs out there. Yeah, people
- 38:13Speaker 4: don't want to be playing on Thursday nights except for Jacob.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Yeah, just selfishly though, just so I can watch my
- 38:22Speaker 1: son play.
- 38:23Speaker 2: God, what a bad guy am.
- 38:24Speaker 4: We got to hire a president, an ad, a coach,
- 38:26Speaker 4: and more high school refs.
- 38:30Speaker 2: What we're doing, we're doing here in Louisiana, not a
- 38:32Speaker 2: whole lot.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Go to Budros Electrical dot Com, more power, more protection

- 39:04Speaker 1: maybe we'll throw some different names out there, kind of
- 39:06Speaker 1: have some different conversations. Flynn actually teased something and then
- 39:09Speaker 1: stepped on his own tes yep, And so we'll come
- 39:12Speaker 1: back and talk about his original tees right here on otb.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, diagnosed squirrels here, I'm yeah yeah, stab no stab,
- 39:27Speaker 4: maybe let it rip.

- 40:44Speaker 1: Locked in on LSU Football twenty four to seven, you're
- 40:47Speaker 1: listening to Off the Bench. All right, welcome back in
- 40:53Speaker 1: It is OTV here live from Rouses on Burbank and Lee.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Alright, Matthew Clayton Flynn.
- 41:00Speaker 1: You tease something, and before you see another squirrel, I'm
- 41:03Speaker 1: going to throw it to you to talk about what
- 41:05Speaker 1: you teased.
- 41:06Speaker 4: There's a good there's a good question. Way to keep
- 41:08Speaker 4: me on track because I was actually just about to
- 41:10Speaker 4: talk about the movie Saul. Okay, So we talked about
- 41:13Speaker 4: we're talking about head coaching jobs. A lot of speculation,
- 41:15Speaker 4: but a lot of name that I keep seeing popping
- 41:17Speaker 4: across my Twitter feed, the socials every time, and I
- 41:21Speaker 4: see anybody they always wanted to talk about and ask about.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Kelvin Shepard, of course, the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions,
- 41:29Speaker 4: played linebacker here. Lsu was a great Tiger, a really
- 41:33Speaker 4: good professional linebacker play with both of us.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Love Shep.
- 41:37Speaker 4: He's amazing dad, a war an absolute war daddy. And
- 41:42Speaker 4: of course kind of popped on the scene as a coach.
- 41:44Speaker 4: And was it hard knocks where he popped on the
- 41:47Speaker 4: scene because they had the like the not a hidden
- 41:49Speaker 4: camera because they know it's there, but the.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Camera in the linebacker meeting room.
- 41:53Speaker 4: And him just the way he was communicating with his players,
- 41:57Speaker 4: just tough, nasty and formative, knew how to talk to
- 42:02Speaker 4: his players. All the things you want from a coach
- 42:04Speaker 4: right there. And the energy that he's shown, like I
- 42:06Speaker 4: think he had a really good Who were they playing
- 42:10Speaker 4: primetime game Chicago two week Yeah, Chicago. I think it
- 42:13Speaker 4: was a Thursday night game. Yeah, it was a prime
- 42:15Speaker 4: It was Thursday, Sunday or Monday night. I can't remember
- 42:18Speaker 4: which one it was, but the way they played defense
- 42:21Speaker 4: and shut him down, absolutely shut him down. And of
- 42:24Speaker 4: course Kevin Shepard was getting a lot of the credit
- 42:26Speaker 4: as he should be on the sidelines, so that kind
- 42:28Speaker 4: of just threw him again into the spotlight. And of
- 42:30Speaker 4: course that spotlight happened right before this Brian Kelly stuff.
- 42:33Speaker 4: So I want to ask you, Kelvin Shepard, is he
- 42:38Speaker 4: going to be a realistic target for them to interview.
- 42:42Speaker 2: I definitely think you talked to him, yeah, without question.
- 42:45Speaker 1: And I know he's, you know, only been a defense
- 42:47Speaker 1: coordinator for one year, and I know there's some pushback
- 42:50Speaker 1: on that. Look Shep, and he said it yesterday in
- 42:53Speaker 1: a press conference, like he he loves lsh as much
- 42:56Speaker 1: as anything.
- 42:56Speaker 2: He's like you, if you cut me open, I'm.
- 42:58Speaker 1: A liger, half lion, half tiger, right, And yeah, you
- 43:02Speaker 1: have that conversation. I think so, because look, what you
- 43:07Speaker 1: just did didn't work, and if you're looking to think
- 43:10Speaker 1: outside the box, go a different direction. I think Shep
- 43:12Speaker 1: is somebody obviously that you have to have that conversation with.
- 43:15Speaker 1: And I got this message at five oh four this morning.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Somebody that's in the building in Detroit. I think you
- 43:21Speaker 1: would do a really good job as a head coach
- 43:23Speaker 1: if he called the defense and had you know, some
- 43:26Speaker 1: coordinators around him on offense. He's done a really nice
- 43:30Speaker 1: job of growing and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of
- 43:34Speaker 1: the players. He is best in front of a room,
- 43:36Speaker 1: great command, and he has the ability to get into
- 43:39Speaker 1: players you know what, and not have them.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Pout or fold.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and you saw that on hard knocks as well.
- 43:45Speaker 1: So he's saying, like you know, when he's saying coordinators
- 43:48Speaker 1: and explorer, like there's only one. I think that person
- 43:50Speaker 1: is saying, you go get a bad as offensive coordinator
- 43:53Speaker 1: and get analysts on his staff that have also been
- 43:55Speaker 1: offensive coordinators. Let shep call the defense, which is not crazy.
- 43:59Speaker 1: I mean Clark Lee did to Vanderbilt last year.
- 44:01Speaker 4: And another like when you went with the new head
- 44:04Speaker 4: coach like that as well, like something that hadn't done
- 44:06Speaker 4: it and that also wants to kind of call plays.
- 44:08Speaker 4: You also have a coordinator that it doesn't even really
- 44:11Speaker 4: get the title. But we've talked about it early in
- 44:13Speaker 4: the season with Nick Underhill talking about killing Moore, like
- 44:16Speaker 4: is there somebody there that's like the game management coordinator?
- 44:19Speaker 4: Because it's not always like up to coaches on you know,
- 44:22Speaker 4: it's ultimately it's up to them, but it's not always
- 44:26Speaker 4: the head coach that's the side and when to call
- 44:28Speaker 4: a time out, when to throw a challenge flag, when
- 44:30Speaker 4: to like the time the clock management. Sometimes it is
- 44:32Speaker 4: sometimes a coach wants all that on him, but other
- 44:35Speaker 4: teams it's there's a guy that all his job is
- 44:38Speaker 4: to do is work out every single clock scenario you
- 44:41Speaker 4: can think of throughout the week and come up with
- 44:43Speaker 4: every single situation what we're gonna do.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Of course gets you approval from the head.
- 44:46Speaker 4: Coach and all that stuff, but it's like, all right, coach,
- 44:48Speaker 4: you got to call time out, you got a clock,
- 44:49Speaker 4: you gotta do this, or got to do that. So
- 44:52Speaker 4: I think in a situation like that, if if what
- 44:54Speaker 4: he's saying, a Kevine became a head coach and wanted
- 44:56Speaker 4: to call plays first time being a head coach, like
- 44:58Speaker 4: all those things matter, your good support staff around you
- 45:01Speaker 4: like that. But I don't think there's any question that
- 45:05Speaker 4: that man can stand in front of a team and
- 45:07Speaker 4: get the most.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Out of them.
- 45:08Speaker 4: You look like you look at a part like everything
- 45:10Speaker 4: that we're talking about that LSU's got to get back
- 45:12Speaker 4: to is kind of the model that Dan Campbell has
- 45:18Speaker 4: built and developed.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And there was people Detroit's people that laughed at when
- 45:22Speaker 1: Dan Campbell got hired, a lot of people at the
- 45:24Speaker 1: station that we're on right now, and look at Dan Campbell.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Now that's kind of what we kind of want to
- 45:29Speaker 2: build back here, all right.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I remember two coming back your way live from Rouses
- 45:33Speaker 1: off the bench, all right. You know in Louisiana, when
