- 0:00Hi everyone, welcome to Mini Scroll, the daily Internet
- 0:04culture podcast bringing you the biggest stories from social
- 0:07media, the creator economy and the digital space every Monday
- 0:11through Thursday. I'm your host, Lauren Meisner,
- 0:14the founder of the youth digital media brand Centennial World.
- 0:19Welcome back to Mini Scroll, everyone.
- 0:22Tomorrow is the biggest day of my whole career.
- 0:27I have had one day at South by Southwest.
- 0:30Yesterday we went with MailChimp and it was amazing.
- 0:33We created a bunch of content for them.
- 0:35Today is like a regular day, regular quote UN quote because I
- 0:38am getting ready for tomorrow, which like I said is I think the
- 0:42biggest day of my whole career. I am starting with my makeup
- 0:46artist coming to my house at 5:30 AM and we are doing a
- 0:49obviously a full face of glam. I'm doing 2 panels at South by
- 0:53Southwest. The first one in the morning is
- 0:56on the mainstage, so I'm doing those two panels, 10:15 and then
- 1:0112:30. And then I have a lunch with the
- 1:05panelists, which will be nice, hopefully, like a good way to
- 1:08decompress. And then at 4:20, I am
- 1:11interviewing Heather Gay and Whitney Rose of The Real
- 1:14Housewives of Salt Lake City in real life.
- 1:16And I did get approvals that it can go on the podcast.
- 1:21So hopefully the interview is good enough that I feel like it
- 1:24deserves a spot, you know, on the pod.
- 1:27But I'm so excited for that because you guys know I am like
- 1:29the world's biggest Housewives fan.
- 1:32I am like bravos #1 fan down under.
- 1:35I swear to God, I live in Australia.
- 1:37That's why I said don't under, if anyone doesn't know.
- 1:40So yes, I am so excited. And then after that, I'm going
- 1:44to a film premiere with my brother at South by Southwest.
- 1:47So look, it's going to be a freaking crazy day.
- 1:51I'm really excited, but it's like a big whirlwind.
- 1:54I've had some really huge moments before, you know, in my
- 1:57career. But like, I have never had a day
- 2:00that had this many like really intense, exciting moments packed
- 2:04into one and all of them. I've done all these things
- 2:06before. I've spoken on panels, I've
- 2:08interviewed celebrities, I've interviewed, I interviewed Andy
- 2:10Cohen, but like it's this is just the step above all of that.
- 2:14Like this is like South by Southwest mainstage.
- 2:18This is the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City in real life for
- 2:2120 minutes for the podcast. Like it's all just like a level
- 2:25up from all the different things I've done.
- 2:27It's going to be a lot. It's going to be a lot, but I'm
- 2:30excited. All right, let's just get into
- 2:33the stories for today. I feel like it was a little bit
- 2:36light on news today. I don't know about you guys, but
- 2:39again, tomorrow there will be no episode because obviously I have
- 2:42the day of my lifetime. So Thursday, hopefully there
- 2:46will be a lot of news to bring you guys.
- 2:48OK. The first word that I have is
- 2:50that Brianna Chicken Fry is facing backlash for how she
- 2:52covered the Menendez brothers and also for diminishing her Co
- 2:57host Grace O'malley's experience with alleged sexual assault.
- 3:01So Brianna Chicken Fry is facing backlash for her opinion on the
- 3:04Menendez brothers in a recent episode of Plan Bree.
- 3:08The Menendez Brothers is a new true crime documentary on
- 3:11Netflix about brothers Lyle and Eric Menendez, who were
- 3:14convicted of murdering their parents in 1989.
- 3:17Now I don't want to get too much into it because I don't want it
- 3:20to be too triggering, but basically the Menendez brothers
- 3:22were abused by their parents and Brianna on her podcast said
- 3:27basically that they should have just run away or gone to college
- 3:30or something to escape from the abuse and that they had other
- 3:34options. I meditated.
- 3:35Shoot your mommy in the face, your daddy in the face while
- 3:39they're on the couch and you think, woo Hoo.
- 3:42Oh, that's because they were mean to us.
- 3:44They did bad stuff to us. You run away.
- 3:46You run away. Run away.
- 3:48You don't need to kill people. I think you should be in prison
- 3:50forever because you murder people.
- 3:52I think that's how the life works.
- 3:53You murder people, you stay in prison.
- 3:55If you think that's wrong, maybe we need to read.
- 3:57We need to talk because murderers go to jail.
- 4:01I just, I just your father, your father raping you.
- 4:05It's just a whole different thing that you just don't.
- 4:09You wouldn't understand. We both would understand.
- 4:12I don't know. It's just it's wild.
- 4:15You run. Away OK and then the second
- 4:17thing that she is facing backlash for is again on an
- 4:21episode of planned Bree with grace Grace is her Co host Grace
- 4:24O'Malley, who I mentioned in the intro.
- 4:26So she talked about an experience that she had in
- 4:28Atlantic City where she was core.
- 4:30She said coerced or forced into something at 16.
- 4:34And then Brianna went on this like rant about how 16 year old
- 4:37girls don't know any better but they shouldn't be hanging out
- 4:40with like divorced men at bars. And it was just, it just went on
- 4:44and on and on. So listen to this.
- 4:46What happened last time I was there?
- 4:49That shape, it was a woman. It was really bad, so.
- 4:53Do without what you will. But that's not going to happen
- 4:56again. Because now I am a strong,
- 4:59independent woman who knows what she wants and will not be
- 5:02settling for anything less or being coerced or forced into
- 5:06anything else. Yeah, well, you know, when
- 5:09you're 16, you just don't really know anything.
- 5:12And when you're 16, girls, if you're 16 listening to this or
- 5:17play this for your daughter, if you have a 16 year old daughter
- 5:19when you're 16 and maybe your mom brings you to Atlantic City,
- 5:22maybe you girls shouldn't hang out with the divorced men at the
- 5:26bar. Maybe you should go find other
- 5:2816 year olds. Maybe you shouldn't hang around
- 5:31older men because that's really scary and wrong and they will
- 5:34always take advantage of you because that's just what life is
- 5:38and men are scary. So let's stay away because you
- 5:40know, it sounds so fun and cool in the moment, but then when you
- 5:43grow up you look back on those experiences, scary and horrific.
- 5:47So stay away from older men and hang out with people your age.
- 5:50That's how life should be. Be a good 16 year old, not do
- 5:53what we did. You can still have fun.
- 5:55Stick with your age group. It's not your fault.
- 5:58So, yeah, the way that Brianna is diminishing Grace's
- 6:01experiences, almost like putting it back on her and saying, like,
- 6:07we we shouldn't have made these decisions at 16.
- 6:09And because we made these decisions, this thing happened
- 6:12to you is so fucked up and so toxic and just so not true at
- 6:18all. I'm sure she meant well.
- 6:19I'm sure she was genuinely trying to warn young women.
- 6:22And it does remind me, like, it's reminiscent of how women,
- 6:26you know, my mom, like the a different generation spoke to
- 6:30us. I'm a young millennial.
- 6:32Like growing up about protecting ourselves as women.
- 6:36It reminds me of that. It was like coming from a good
- 6:39place. And it was trying to say, like,
- 6:41the world out there is really bad and men are really bad and
- 6:43like, you need to protect yourself.
- 6:45But the way that it is presented is so often putting the onus and
- 6:49the blame on you as a woman. And you know, it's literally
- 6:53just never your fault if you are the victim of a sexual assault
- 6:56or anything like that. Like, it is not your fault.
- 6:59So Brianna, she stays problematic.
- 7:02She is our problematic podcast queen, that's for sure.
- 7:06OK, the next word that I have, you guys were like frothing for
- 7:10the Aspen of our divorce update that I gave yesterday.
- 7:14I've been giving updates this whole time.
- 7:16But that one probably because it was talking about the
- 7:19mother-in-law stuff, that one popped off.
- 7:21So she is still posting, you know, insane content.
- 7:24She is still going nuts. I actually think so.
- 7:28Someone on my team said this, and I thought, you know what?
- 7:31That's actually valid. I hadn't considered from that
- 7:32angle. But like, she got engaged at 19.
- 7:35She has always been an adult, even when she was supposed to be
- 7:38young and having fun and in her 20s and like, you know, just
- 7:40making those mistakes and kind of going insane.
- 7:43And maybe that's just like the manifestation like that.
- 7:45That's just like what we're seeing right now from her is her
- 7:48living out her like young 20s, like getting that like energy
- 7:52and chaos out. But like, she's doing it on
- 7:54TikTok for us amid her divorce and like about the topic of her
- 7:58divorce, I don't know. I kind of love it though.
- 8:01I hope she's OK, though. So she addressed actually her
- 8:04divorce timeline on the Cheers podcast with Avery Woods.
- 8:08And I wanted to just like kind of go through what she said.
- 8:11So she said she gave birth to her third baby weeks before
- 8:15filing for divorce, which I think we knew.
- 8:16She said the day her divorce leaked to the press was also the
- 8:19day she filed. So she thinks it was probably
- 8:22someone at the law firm who leaked it, which would be such a
- 8:26breach of like, I assume some type of client and lawyer
- 8:31confidentiality. Like that would just be so
- 8:34fucked up. I'm sure it happens all the time
- 8:36with famous people, but like, I can't even imagine.
- 8:39She said she hadn't spoken to, you know, she hadn't told like a
- 8:42lot of her friends and family and stuff.
- 8:43And they obviously just had to read it in the press.
- 8:46She reiterated that Parker is not gay, nor did he cheat on her
- 8:50as far as she knows. And she said she's still
- 8:52conflicted about if she should be open, you know, about why
- 8:56she's getting divorced or if it will kind of harm her kids.
- 8:59Like, she's still trying to kind of navigate that.
- 9:01It seems like it's possible we might find out what happened.
- 9:04I think she really upholds her boundaries well.
- 9:06And I do believe if she decided to tell us, it's been a very
- 9:09considered decision. And she knows that it will not
- 9:12hurt her children in the future, or at least that's what she
- 9:14believes. Anyways, guys, thank you.
- 9:16So much for listening to mini scroll.
- 9:18Please rate review and subscribe.

- 9:22up on Spotify. I love you guys and I will talk
- 9:26to you tomorrow and wish me luck.
- 9:28I can't wait. I can't wait that like Thursday.
- 9:31I can't wait to sit in this chair on Thursday and be like
- 9:34it's done. The day is done and we are
- 9:37moving on. I want to enjoy it.
- 9:39While this is just me going on a tangent because I'm anxious.
- 9:41I want to enjoy it and I will. I'm going to try and soak up
- 9:44every minute, but I'm also ready for it to be done.
- 9:48OK, goodbye.
