- 0:29Speaker 1: We hope you love it, so come on in and stay.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We'll do our best to make you smile. Indors, What
- 0:41Speaker 1: is happening? I'm Rob one Quist, and we are the
- 0:46Speaker 1: Avid indoors Men.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Hi, everybody, Hello, how are you doing?
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm good, you are good? Things are good? How is
- 0:57Speaker 1: your time up north?
- 0:59Speaker 3: It was lovely. We had a great time I had.
- 1:01Speaker 3: The weather was a little hit or miss. Shall we
- 1:04Speaker 3: say here we go right away? Yeah, we got to
- 1:07Speaker 3: hit it right away. Yeah. It was just crazy. There
- 1:10Speaker 3: was I when driving there, I got more hail. I've
- 1:15Speaker 3: seen more hail this last like two weeks.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Hall, No, I haven't seen any.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I had to pull over on just the last little
- 1:25Speaker 3: stretch because I was it was getting pretty crazy. I
- 1:28Speaker 3: couldn't see anymore. And then it was hailing and it
- 1:32Speaker 3: was so windy that I said, am I in a tornado,
- 1:35Speaker 3: and how would I know if I'm yeah, I'll send
- 1:39Speaker 3: you a video I took of it while I was
- 1:41Speaker 3: in my car. It you know, it's all it's all
- 1:44Speaker 3: good love making sessions and weather goes. It was over
- 1:47Speaker 3: pretty quickly. We all moved on with our day. But yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 3: it was crazy, but but we had a great time.
- 1:55Speaker 3: We did a lot of pontooning, We did some some
- 1:57Speaker 3: bratwurst making and eating. We got to see Box and
- 2:01Speaker 3: our buddy Alex Steele.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You did go, that's awesome.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, we actually went both nights, but just for like
- 2:08Speaker 3: a little bit each night kind of deal. You know,
- 2:12Speaker 3: saw the oh my favorite thing and you're gonna love this.
- 2:16Speaker 3: We went and saw the fireworks on the pontoon like
- 2:18Speaker 3: you do. And they were playing tunes, you know, while
- 2:22Speaker 3: they were doing it. And at some point, you know,
- 2:25Speaker 3: because the kids were in charge of the tunes, which
- 2:26Speaker 3: is fair, that's great, no worries. At some point someone
- 2:29Speaker 3: made the mistake of saying, like, what other songs should
- 2:32Speaker 3: we play? So in the middle of the fireworks, I
- 2:35Speaker 3: had them play Ray Charles and I was just like, oh,
- 2:38Speaker 3: this is my happiest They were like, why do you
- 2:42Speaker 3: like this so much, And I was like, let me
- 2:43Speaker 3: tell you about a movie. Kid's a movie.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And we did it during our firework session as well.
- 2:50Speaker 3: You have to write. I mean, it's just the best.
- 2:52Speaker 3: So yeah, we had a great time. Man, it was
- 2:54Speaker 3: super super fun. The Yeah, it was hot but not
- 2:57Speaker 3: too crazy, so we'll got some good times. How about y'all?
- 3:01Speaker 3: How about yours?
- 3:02Speaker 1: It was really fun. I will say the fireworks were
- 3:06Speaker 1: not great.
- 3:07Speaker 3: They were a dud this year.
- 3:08Speaker 1: They were a dud this year. I don't know what happened.
- 3:10Speaker 1: They do three different sets of fireworks on this one lake,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and apparently we definitely had the worst one by far.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It felt like they had kind of a grand finale,
- 3:23Speaker 1: but still it was only like twelve minutes into it,
- 3:27Speaker 1: and then after that there was it felt like like, oh,
- 3:32Speaker 1: we still have this one box left over, let's just
- 3:35Speaker 1: put those ones out too.
- 3:37Speaker 3: So then it was just like and they're just like
- 3:39Speaker 3: the whistlers like few.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And that was it and we waited for like ten minutes.
- 3:44Speaker 3: It's just interesting. Boom. I was saying.
- 3:51Speaker 1: It was bad. It was not good.
- 3:53Speaker 3: That's a bummer.
- 3:54Speaker 1: But one thing that was not a bummer, and it's
- 3:57Speaker 1: very exciting for the Lundquist household.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Tell me everything.
- 4:01Speaker 1: We have a new member. We now have a hamster.
- 4:09Speaker 1: My daughter. That was all she wanted for her tenth birthday.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So the cabin no, she was thinking about it.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah, why would she? Right right?
- 4:21Speaker 1: Why would she?
- 4:22Speaker 3: No?
- 4:23Speaker 1: We have Potato lund Quist little Tater.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Wait, isn't that the nickname of the gentleman that we're
- 4:33Speaker 3: having on it is? It's a potato, that's Nato Potato.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. But yeah, that's what
- 4:41Speaker 1: she said. She wanted to be Potato.
- 4:45Speaker 3: That's such a cute name.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yeah, And so we only had him for like four days.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Now, how's it been.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It's been okay there. I guess they're pretty per snickity.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I didn't know much about hamsters, even though I owned
- 4:59Speaker 1: one for three years.
- 5:01Speaker 3: You weren't probably really doing the bulk of the taking
- 5:03Speaker 3: care I did. I was.
- 5:06Speaker 1: It was like my thing. But like apparently you're not
- 5:10Speaker 1: supposed to just like bring them home and play with them,
- 5:12Speaker 1: and you know, like they need to really warm up
- 5:17Speaker 1: to their environment. They need to sit in there for
- 5:21Speaker 1: like a week. You can you can put in like
- 5:25Speaker 1: things that have your scent on it, like like rub
- 5:28Speaker 1: like a tissue or something and put it in there
- 5:32Speaker 1: so it like gets used to your smell. Like they
- 5:37Speaker 1: get scared. They can actually get like so freaked out
- 5:40Speaker 1: and anxious that they can just oh and that actually
- 5:44Speaker 1: happened to my sister when we were kids.
- 5:48Speaker 3: She must have survived. Oh the hamster, got it.
- 5:51Speaker 1: The hamster, the hamster.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Sorry, the hamster.
- 5:54Speaker 1: They only had for one night and the next day
- 5:56Speaker 1: it was just like, something's wrong with muffin. And I
- 5:59Speaker 1: don't remember what she named.
- 6:01Speaker 3: You got it's one's a lemon. Don't worry about it.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Wow. I brought him home. I played like he never
- 6:08Speaker 1: once bit like he was just the coolest little guy.
- 6:14Speaker 1: But this guy we've been, we've been just kind of
- 6:17Speaker 1: you thank you.
- 6:19Speaker 3: I like that smart act like.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and and he's you know, it's four days and
- 6:25Speaker 1: and but dude, she's so funny. Whenever he like makes
- 6:28Speaker 1: a little noise or something, she's just like like every time,
- 6:32Speaker 1: it's so so cute. I can't wait until she can
- 6:35Speaker 1: start actually like.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah stuff, oh, but.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Pretty exciting times.
- 6:39Speaker 3: I love it. For a moment, I thought you were
- 6:41Speaker 3: going to say you got another dog, and I was like, wow, no, no,
- 6:44Speaker 3: that's I mean, there are no commitments, but that's a
- 6:47Speaker 3: big commitment.
- 6:48Speaker 1: No, no, no, we wouldn't do that to Penny Girl.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that old Lady's fund.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of fun, kind of fun. Were you
- 6:58Speaker 1: able to get any movies in there?
- 7:00Speaker 3: Yes, Right before I left last week, I went and
- 7:04Speaker 3: saw super Girl.
- 7:06Speaker 1: You did tell me everything we did.
- 7:10Speaker 3: We went and checked it out. This is under the
- 7:12Speaker 3: new like DC universe, right to the gun right now. Yeah,
- 7:19Speaker 3: James Gunn, Yeah, that's his name. Uh. And Millie Alcock
- 7:23Speaker 3: is the is the the new Supergirl. You can see
- 7:28Speaker 3: mother with that mouth I do David corn Sweat Alcock
- 7:32Speaker 3: and corn Sweat. That's two names. There are two names. Uh. Yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 3: this was I thought it was super, super fun. I
- 7:40Speaker 3: feel like it's been getting like medium reviews from people.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I've heard mixed.
- 7:46Speaker 3: I can see kind of why. I guess it's a
- 7:48Speaker 3: little like it's not as fun as the or it's
- 7:52Speaker 3: not as diled in as the Superman.
- 7:54Speaker 1: One thought that was super fun.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I really liked it. I thought she's all as
- 8:00Speaker 3: Supergirl and I can't wait to keep seeing her and stuff.
- 8:03Speaker 3: It's really fun. She's a great actor. It just felt
- 8:08Speaker 3: like it like the bad guy wasn't bet you know,
- 8:11Speaker 3: like not that memorable of a guy even, Yeah, you know,
- 8:15Speaker 3: like and that kind of kills those films sometimes for sure.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Again, and it was very much.
- 8:20Speaker 3: An origin story adjacent for her, and those can get
- 8:24Speaker 3: kind of boged down in like the bio territory a
- 8:27Speaker 3: little bit. Yeah, but man, she's really great. It is
- 8:31Speaker 3: really fun. It is still very funny, a little bit
- 8:34Speaker 3: darker than the Superman one, but I think she's gonna
- 8:38Speaker 3: be awesome as this character and hopefully she gets to
- 8:40Speaker 3: do it for a long time. Because nice, I really
- 8:43Speaker 3: enjoyed it a lot. I thought it was very very
- 8:44Speaker 3: fun cool, so I definitely recommend it if he gets
- 8:47Speaker 3: like a superhero film. It's really fun. What is funny
- 8:52Speaker 3: is because James Gunn didn't direct this, right, He's just
- 8:54Speaker 3: sort of bizarre of the universe. Now. I felt like
- 8:58Speaker 3: they didn't you as much like cool soundtrack hits as
- 9:04Speaker 3: a bunch of his movies do, because he's so good
- 9:06Speaker 3: at that. Guardians of Course is like the epitome of that.
- 9:10Speaker 3: A little bit more of that, sure, this one, which
- 9:13Speaker 3: is funny, but I bet the Craig Gillespie is who
- 9:16Speaker 3: directed it, and I bet he kind of wanted to
- 9:18Speaker 3: make it his own too, right, and maybe that stopped
- 9:21Speaker 3: it to some degree or something. So sure, but it
- 9:24Speaker 3: was still very enjoyable. If you like a superhero film,
- 9:27Speaker 3: you're gonna have a great time with this. So I
- 9:30Speaker 3: recommend go check it out. I really liked it. Boom, Yeah,
- 9:34Speaker 3: how about you what?
- 9:34Speaker 1: Even watching, I watched a newer film that seemed to
- 9:38Speaker 1: be a little relevant because it stars the star of
- 9:42Speaker 1: Point Break. The movie is called Outcome starring Keanu Reeves.
- 9:48Speaker 1: All fun. Okay, so this was that straight to streaming
- 9:53Speaker 1: movie on Apple TV. Plus it's real weird, right, Yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 1: it's different. So I had heard about it when I
- 10:01Speaker 1: listened to the Smartness episode Smartness smart Lists there it
- 10:06Speaker 1: is episode with Jonah Hill because he wrote and directed
- 10:11Speaker 1: it wild and he also stars in it as well.
- 10:16Speaker 1: But it's not my favorite movie I've ever seen, sure,
- 10:19Speaker 1: but I think it's better than the reviews I've seen
- 10:24Speaker 1: of people really not enjoying it. The cast is all awesome.
- 10:30Speaker 1: It's filled with people that you would recognize. It's definitely
- 10:34Speaker 1: a dark comedy. It's about this megastar played by Keanu
- 10:41Speaker 1: who has done some not great things in his past.
- 10:45Speaker 1: He's also obsessed with his famous persona, like he's googling
- 10:51Speaker 1: himself all the time, and death really needs the love
- 10:54Speaker 1: and adoration of everyone around him. But it is just
- 10:57Speaker 1: a very twenty twenty six film dealing with issues of
- 11:00Speaker 1: our time, like being canceled in social media, and it
- 11:05Speaker 1: even calls out specific famous people that have been canceled.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I think it's thought provoking, it's it's really funny in
- 11:14Speaker 1: some spots, can be heartwarming, but it is pretty cynical.
- 11:21Speaker 1: It doesn't make you feel great, not as much as
- 11:24Speaker 1: you would want, just like a comedy to make you
- 11:26Speaker 1: feel sure. But man, it's the best acting I've seen
- 11:32Speaker 1: from Matt Boehmer. It's like my favorite thing i've seen him.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Do you would recognize him?
- 11:37Speaker 4: Oh?
- 11:37Speaker 3: Yeah? He also played a Superman, right I think or something?
- 11:42Speaker 1: No, he was. He definitely looks.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Like it looks like yeah, yeah, okay, I just.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Think very Yes, he was a standout. And we also
- 11:55Speaker 1: get to see Martin Scorsese act. It's not a huge role,
- 11:59Speaker 1: but like this fun little side character that was pretty fun,
- 12:03Speaker 1: and he like he wasn't playing himself, which I've never seen.
- 12:08Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't know that I would recommend it
- 12:11Speaker 1: to everyone, but I'm glad I saw it. People who
- 12:14Speaker 1: love movies like you and me, I would recommend it to.
- 12:17Speaker 1: But like somebody was just like a casual whatever, just
- 12:20Speaker 1: looking for a good time. This probably isn't that movie.
- 12:23Speaker 3: I just saw on one of the pictures that that
- 12:25Speaker 3: Asco is in it. Uh, And she's so funny. She's
- 12:29Speaker 3: got that great comedy special. What's her full name?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Uh? I think it's one of the people who is
- 12:35Speaker 1: like on this board, they had a lot of people
- 12:41Speaker 1: where they're like trying to give advice on how he
- 12:46Speaker 1: should go through a.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Certain singers management or something that's exactly right interesting. Yeah,
- 12:55Speaker 3: as Katsuka is right, Okay, she's got a great comedy
- 12:59Speaker 3: special there if people want to go check it out.
- 13:01Speaker 1: She's I think she had kind of like this bowl cut.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yep, Yeah, definitely has a part in there,
- 13:09Speaker 1: memorable part.
- 13:10Speaker 3: She's so funny. I also just listened to her ConA
- 13:13Speaker 3: O'Brien episode. Whatever.
- 13:16Speaker 1: This is the first time I saw her.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Oh her, You would really like her comedy special. You
- 13:20Speaker 3: and kel should listen to it. It's really fun. Yeah.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I bet Kels's are super cool.
- 13:25Speaker 3: She was. I think she's like a late night write
- 13:26Speaker 3: or two or something maybe so but cool, very very funny,
- 13:31Speaker 3: sorry to die for us.
- 13:32Speaker 1: It's all good. So that is outcome. If you're interested
- 13:35Speaker 1: in it's on Apple TV. Speaking on the streaming, have
- 13:38Speaker 1: you been streaming anything?
- 13:40Speaker 3: Yeah, on Disney Plus. I had sort of talked about this,
- 13:43Speaker 3: but I don't think I ever talked about actually watching it,
- 13:46Speaker 3: and I finally probably not because I just started so
- 13:49Speaker 3: never mind. But the X Men ninety seven show I
- 13:54Speaker 3: talked about before, That's what I was trying to say.
- 13:56Speaker 3: I rewatched a bunch of the old one from back
- 13:59Speaker 3: in the day, and I was going to go through
- 14:01Speaker 3: all of it. I didn't end up doing that.
- 14:03Speaker 1: That's a lot.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just too much. But X Men ninety seven
- 14:07Speaker 3: is super interesting. It is. I think it's on its
- 14:10Speaker 3: second season now. I'm only halfway through the first. But
- 14:14Speaker 3: it is like a straight up continuation of that, at
- 14:18Speaker 3: least in style and vibe of the old X Men cartoon,
- 14:23Speaker 3: which I used to just love back in the day.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Really fun, very campy, very comic bookie. But also the
- 14:32Speaker 3: storyline so far is super interesting because because they're okay
- 14:36Speaker 3: going that kind of comic book style. It's just off
- 14:39Speaker 3: the wall, like what happens and stuff like that. It's
- 14:42Speaker 3: really really fun to watch it. I'm pretty sure that
- 14:46Speaker 3: these are they even went back to like hand drawn
- 14:49Speaker 3: animation because it looks exactly the same and sound similar
- 14:53Speaker 3: and stuff. It's really really fun. Yeah, and I just
- 14:57Speaker 3: I really like it. So if you like X Men,
- 15:00Speaker 3: then check out X Men ninety seven. And I've heard
- 15:02Speaker 3: the new season is great, and I think it just
- 15:05Speaker 3: recently came out, because that was why I was like,
- 15:07Speaker 3: I should really watch this. Sure it was one of those.
- 15:10Speaker 3: So yeah, Jack, Yeah, it's really fun.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Disney plus nice, Disney plus love it.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Should we do a few plug runs here?
- 15:17Speaker 1: Well, I was going to say my streaming.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't ask you that.
- 15:21Speaker 1: How what it's all good?
- 15:23Speaker 3: What streams you?
- 15:24Speaker 1: Honestly, we could have probably just skipped mine. But because
- 15:28Speaker 1: it is summer and it's been tough getting to watch
- 15:30Speaker 1: movies and shows same, you know, we were both up
- 15:34Speaker 1: north this last week. I haven't been watching a lot
- 15:37Speaker 1: of stuff, a lot of World Cup, I've been watching
- 15:39Speaker 1: a lot of that. But we did watch the Minecraft
- 15:42Speaker 1: movie again with Jack Black and Jason Momo. I'd only
- 15:45Speaker 1: see it in the theater and I talked about it
- 15:47Speaker 1: at that time. I thought it was funnier the second time. Actually,
- 15:50Speaker 1: I kind of ragged on it the first time, and
- 15:53Speaker 1: it grew on me. I just love Jack Black so much.
- 15:56Speaker 1: She's the best anytime he's on screen. I just loved it.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I said. Jason Moore was just having a blast, just.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Being such a good But that was the thing that
- 16:05Speaker 1: I when I watched, is just trying to be fun.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I was a little less cynical about it this second
- 16:12Speaker 1: time and just have fun with it. It was fun.
- 16:15Speaker 1: But what I was really going to recommend was my
- 16:19Speaker 1: favorite book that I've read this year, called THEO of
- 16:22Speaker 1: Golden by Alan Levi, that I loaned to you. Have
- 16:25Speaker 1: you finished?
- 16:26Speaker 4: I have not.
- 16:27Speaker 3: I want to reread The Odyssey, so I've been trying
- 16:31Speaker 3: to crash through that.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Sure. But yeah, it's called THEO of Golden It's by
- 16:36Speaker 1: Alan Levi. It's getting great rating over at Goodreads, and
- 16:39Speaker 1: four hundred and fifty thousand people feel the same way
- 16:41Speaker 1: I do. So it's not that groundbreaking, just a wonderful book,
- 16:47Speaker 1: has so much humanity, makes you feel good, so different
- 16:50Speaker 1: from what I had talked about for the movie that
- 16:53Speaker 1: I saw it. Yeah, yeah, and I don't want to
- 16:55Speaker 1: give anything away, but it just it features an older
- 16:57Speaker 1: man doing good deeds for people, and it's just yeah
- 17:02Speaker 1: and yeah. This author, his name's Alan Levi. It's his
- 17:04Speaker 1: first time writing a book and he just knocked it
- 17:07Speaker 1: out of the part.
- 17:08Speaker 3: That's crazy because I did read the first few chapters
- 17:11Speaker 3: and then decided I was like, I can do this.
- 17:13Speaker 3: I have a timetable on this other one. So yeah,
- 17:15Speaker 3: it's really great. I love it. Yeah, nice man, love that. Yes,
- 17:21Speaker 3: now shall we do some plugs.
- 17:23Speaker 1: Let's puck it up.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Nice guys can business ass always on the Twitter machine,
- 17:26Speaker 3: we're at ab in Indorsmove the Z. You can also

- 17:39Speaker 3: of the group, it's about to go.

- 17:56Speaker 1: Flores and Lorraine Loud. You guys are wonderful. Thank you
- 17:59Speaker 1: so much. Another perk we like to give our patriots

- 18:23Speaker 3: You've seen thirty plus, I think so.
- 18:25Speaker 1: My god, Yeah, I've seen a lot of the old stuff, which.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I hadn't said twenty before you said.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Awkward Keanu.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Guy, you're a huge kiana plus you have outcome now
- 18:37Speaker 3: in your arsenal.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and I wasn't even counting that. So thirty plus

- 18:42Speaker 3: All right, saddle down.
- 18:47Speaker 1: But yeah, that's the patrons. They get to listen to
- 18:49Speaker 1: the top five draft. It's gonna be so much fun.
- 18:50Speaker 3: It's gonna be a blast. We're here today gang to
- 18:55Speaker 3: cover a movie that is thirty five years old. It's
- 18:57Speaker 3: from nineteen hundred ninety one. It's a little film called
- 19:01Speaker 3: Point break have you ever heard of it? And we
- 19:06Speaker 3: know a young man who loves loves this movie desperately.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And all things late eighties, early nineties.
- 19:13Speaker 3: That's true. Yeah, that's very very fair. Loves the Sandlot,
- 19:16Speaker 3: which we referenced earlier. Yes, huge fan, huge fan, and
- 19:20Speaker 3: we're a huge fan of him. You guys know him.
- 19:22Speaker 3: He is the aforementioned potato Give it up for Nate
- 19:27Speaker 3: Rose done?
- 19:29Speaker 1: What's up? Nate?
- 19:32Speaker 3: Hih?
- 19:34Speaker 1: So good to see you, buddy. I'm good.
- 19:38Speaker 5: I was not expecting to see you, guys.
- 19:40Speaker 3: I know this is just we just called you randomly
- 19:43Speaker 3: right now.
- 19:44Speaker 5: Just sitting at my computer waiting around for somebody to
- 19:46Speaker 5: call him.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Here we are.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I'm so glad we did.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Yeah, this is great. You ordered some make up and
- 19:52Speaker 3: Rob would like to tell you now why you should.
- 19:54Speaker 3: God that came up on the last thing.
- 19:58Speaker 1: It did at my worst job ever. And but Nate,
- 20:04Speaker 1: tell me everything. How have you been good?
- 20:08Speaker 5: I've been busy. I've just been doing all.
- 20:12Speaker 6: The things that you know you do when you have
- 20:15Speaker 6: a child and a job, and occasionally I try to
- 20:20Speaker 6: sleep nice.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I love it.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Did you guys get to enjoy your your fourth of July?
- 20:24Speaker 1: Did you do anything fun. Yeah, we went to the cabin.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Normally that's our big family gathering where like everybody comes,
- 20:31Speaker 6: but this year I don't remember why, but my mom
- 20:35Speaker 6: was like, we're not doing the big one. We're going
- 20:37Speaker 6: to do that at the Pine County Fair. So it
- 20:40Speaker 6: was just parents and then Meavy and Sawyer and I
- 20:44Speaker 6: worked on.
- 20:47Speaker 5: My fishing boat that I inherited from Chance.
- 20:50Speaker 1: All fun. Yeah, oh lovely.
- 20:53Speaker 5: That is just about finished. I'm very excited.
- 20:55Speaker 6: I didn't want to send them a picture because it's
- 20:58Speaker 6: not one hundred percent finishing and there's a few little
- 21:00Speaker 6: details I want to do, but it's super fun. That's cool,
- 21:04Speaker 6: man'd be very cool.
- 21:05Speaker 1: That's awesome. Dude. Are you fishing a lot on that lake?
- 21:10Speaker 5: Uh?
- 21:11Speaker 6: I've It's the only the second time I've been up
- 21:13Speaker 6: this summer. The first time we went up in one
- 21:18Speaker 6: sitting with me, my brother in law, my uncle Jerry,
- 21:22Speaker 6: my dad, and then our exchange shooting and Hugo. We
- 21:26Speaker 6: caught thirty two crappie.
- 21:29Speaker 1: That's so many.
- 21:30Speaker 6: They were all big, like big crappies. They weren't like
- 21:33Speaker 6: little tiny ones I've seen.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I've been seeing how big they can get. I've never
- 21:38Speaker 1: seen them that big, but that would be fun.
- 21:40Speaker 6: Oh it was as that's the craziest I've ever fished
- 21:43Speaker 6: on that lake where you're just like and it wasn't consistent,
- 21:47Speaker 6: but like somebody would catch like three in a row
- 21:49Speaker 6: and then I'd sit there for twenty thirty minutes no bites.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Then all of a sudden, I'd catch three.
- 21:52Speaker 3: In a row.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and they weren't fun though.
- 21:55Speaker 6: But they're perfect fula size. So yeah, very cool, dude,
- 22:01Speaker 6: pretty exciting stuff.
- 22:02Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Well, very cool, roads llcu. I heard that you're accepting
- 22:12Speaker 3: custom woodwork jobs now, is that right?
- 22:14Speaker 5: Yes, you know what I mean. Actually a couple of
- 22:18Speaker 5: interesting ones.
- 22:19Speaker 6: I can't actually talk about one of them.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Tell us. I'm just kidding.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I'm just kidding.
- 22:26Speaker 5: I'm excited.
- 22:27Speaker 6: I got a semi high profile clients, cool friend that
- 22:33Speaker 6: I have to build something here coming up.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Dude, you can just say it's Rob lun Twist, you
- 22:39Speaker 1: can say my name, it's and you're embarrassing me.
- 22:43Speaker 3: It's just a cutting board of Rob's face. So for
- 22:47Speaker 3: his own kitchen.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Rob just wanted a square cutting board for his kitchen.
- 22:55Speaker 3: The most normal cutting board I can get. Please, thank you,
- 22:58Speaker 3: and I really need this custom. I'm probably got.
- 23:01Speaker 5: The glue that man.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I like it. I like it. That's cool man.
- 23:07Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely expanding some of my business stuff. So if
- 23:10Speaker 6: you have any weird working projects that you're like.
- 23:12Speaker 5: I just don't know who to call. I'm the person
- 23:14Speaker 5: love that.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Probably figured out.
- 23:18Speaker 3: You did it again for piano tuning the other day.
- 23:22Speaker 5: Oh nice, still doing that?
- 23:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I love that.
- 23:26Speaker 6: I would do that more of it, I hate more.
- 23:29Speaker 6: But you have to have so many clients to.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Be yeah, yeah, it's not like a weekly they right, Like.
- 23:36Speaker 6: I calculated at once, if I wanted to make a
- 23:39Speaker 6: reasonable wage in today's economy, I would have to tune
- 23:43Speaker 6: three pianos a day. At five days or like five
- 23:47Speaker 6: days a week, there's fifteen pianos a week.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Pianos.
- 23:52Speaker 6: It's like, however many, Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I have nine million clients.
- 23:59Speaker 5: I only have to know seven one thousand people in
- 24:01Speaker 5: a given year to be able.
- 24:03Speaker 6: To pay for daycare and they don't have to.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Care and remember to get their piano tunes also.
- 24:07Speaker 6: That yeah, yeah, yeah, most of my clients these days
- 24:13Speaker 6: are like, oh, I've had this tune in about thirty
- 24:16Speaker 6: two years. We're thinking about uh, you know, having the
- 24:21Speaker 6: grandkids play it.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah, perfect, all right, that was just Rob So, yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 3: he's playing the head funny enough for me.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Stays in tune very well for its age.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And I don't know while Yeah, it was Kelsey's grandparents.
- 24:40Speaker 1: So it's been around for a minute.
- 24:42Speaker 3: It's heavy if I remember, right, Yeah, all right, let's
- 24:46Speaker 3: keep it pod going. It looks really.
- 24:55Speaker 1: It's just got a couple of things to move here.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Just just don't worry about this piano. Hey, so I
- 25:00Speaker 1: know you don't drink beer. But the pizza part, well,
- 25:05Speaker 1: it wasn't the last super heavy thing.
- 25:07Speaker 3: It wasn't that they didn't tell me there was a
- 25:09Speaker 3: piano until I was already in man Cato. It was terrible, to.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Be fair, we brought it up a lot. I had
- 25:16Speaker 1: no idea how heavy it was, and I saw it
- 25:18Speaker 1: and I was like, this is not going to be
- 25:20Speaker 1: that bad.
- 25:21Speaker 3: And I also would have done it anyway. It just
- 25:24Speaker 3: was funnier that we didn't know.
- 25:26Speaker 1: No idea. It was brutal.
- 25:30Speaker 3: It wouldn't have affected my decision.
- 25:32Speaker 1: It's fun to bring out.
- 25:33Speaker 3: It's fun to bring up.
- 25:34Speaker 1: It is good. But go to b L see you
- 25:37Speaker 1: guys check it out.
- 25:39Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, hit me up on the socials or I mean,
- 25:42Speaker 6: I'm guessing a lot of your followers on this pod
- 25:46Speaker 6: either followed me at some point.
- 25:49Speaker 1: It seems fair.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that seems fair.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Know how to get in touch.
- 25:54Speaker 6: Just I have stop responded to vip emails, so I'm
- 25:58Speaker 6: sorry about that, okay, Bomber, I mean it's only been
- 26:03Speaker 6: what how long?
- 26:04Speaker 1: I've having a for so many years though, it's a while.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Yeah, crazy, it's wilds.
- 26:14Speaker 5: Yeah you don't right now?
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 26:16Speaker 3: Oh oh my? Well and warm. But let's not start
- 26:19Speaker 3: talking about weather again. Oh no, let's talk a little
- 26:23Speaker 3: bit about this film though. Are you guys ready to
- 26:25Speaker 3: get into it? Yes, yes, all right, great Rabbill, you
- 26:29Speaker 3: start us with just a rough SYNOPSI yeah.
- 26:31Speaker 1: We're talking about the movie point break, and here's the
- 26:33Speaker 1: plot synopsis, you guys. Rookie FBI agent Johnny Utah goes
- 26:40Speaker 1: undercover in southern California to catch the ex Presidents. A
- 26:43Speaker 1: gang of thrill seeking bank robbers who wear masks of
- 26:46Speaker 1: former US presidents infiltrates the local surfing community, falls for
- 26:52Speaker 1: a female surfer named Tyler and develops a complex, adrenaline
- 26:58Speaker 1: fueled bond with the gang's charismatic leader. Body, body, body,
- 27:06Speaker 1: We'll get him when he comes back in.
- 27:09Speaker 6: Yeah, coming back in.
- 27:10Speaker 3: It's a dumb line. I love it. I love that.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, sorry, stole it. Let's go to rotten to
- 27:20Speaker 3: bottles near what they have to say. Critics have it
- 27:22Speaker 3: coming in at pretty rock solid sixty eight percent. It's
- 27:26Speaker 3: not bad bad?
- 27:27Speaker 1: How to give it one more percent?
- 27:30Speaker 4: Hm?
- 27:30Speaker 3: How come tell me more?
- 27:33Speaker 1: You know what I.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Don't, But I've heard audience members had it at seventy
- 27:38Speaker 3: nine percent.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Oh, I would have gave it ten less than that
- 27:43Speaker 1: if I just always did that.
- 27:45Speaker 3: I liked you like that bit a lot. That'd be
- 27:47Speaker 3: fun for me. It's so pretty pretty solid reviews from both.
- 27:53Speaker 3: But let's more importantly than that, let's hear what we think.
- 27:55Speaker 3: It's time for our hot.
- 28:00Speaker 1: By sand. The sand is hurting my bare feet.
- 28:03Speaker 5: That's a hot take.
- 28:05Speaker 1: That's a hot take.
- 28:06Speaker 3: I burned myself ouch okay, but real talk. The sand
- 28:10Speaker 3: at the beach does hurt my feet. It's so hot
- 28:13Speaker 3: and I am a ws one.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I'm so sorry that I have to derail this already.
- 28:19Speaker 3: We're just starting.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I have a story when we were in Myrtle Beach
- 28:24Speaker 1: I went down. It was during the middle of the day.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm gonna go do a little swimmy swim.
- 28:31Speaker 1: I then come back and the sand is roughly three
- 28:36Speaker 1: million degrees okay, so and I didn't feel it on
- 28:41Speaker 1: the way out there or something. I don't know, but
- 28:44Speaker 1: I am interesting coming back out and my feet are burning,
- 28:49Speaker 1: and so I'm like, and I get like, I have
- 28:53Speaker 1: to do that for a while. I'm doing stepping up
- 28:57Speaker 1: the beach forty yards of that and I get all
- 29:01Speaker 1: the way to where it was kind of shady and
- 29:04Speaker 1: my feet could could cool off a little bit. But
- 29:07Speaker 1: I just hear are you Robed? From Home Free? And
- 29:13Speaker 1: I wanted to die. I wanted to pass right then
- 29:20Speaker 1: and there it was horrible.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Little tutsies.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Yeah are you Rob? And then I talked to her
- 29:31Speaker 1: for about a half hour just because I was embarrassed.
- 29:34Speaker 1: And she's a very nice lady, but yeah, please don't
- 29:40Speaker 1: And yeah, I was actually holding I was holding onto
- 29:45Speaker 1: these two things to put my feet up off of
- 29:48Speaker 1: the ground like I was. I was levitating kind of.
- 29:52Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah, absolutely Rob?
- 29:55Speaker 1: Are you Rob? While I was doing that, I swear
- 29:58Speaker 1: to you, no.
- 30:01Speaker 3: I didn't think it was you, and then I saw
- 30:02Speaker 3: you daintily prance up the beach and I thought, sure,
- 30:09Speaker 3: that's a step touch toe if I've ever seen one.
- 30:12Speaker 1: So I'm sorry I to derail it. But man, anytime
- 30:15Speaker 1: I hear about hot Sae.
- 30:16Speaker 3: That's really fun, I think of that. Oh my tozies. Anyway,
- 30:21Speaker 3: hot take, I can go first. This is not a
- 30:30Speaker 3: movie that I watched a bunch of times as a kid.
- 30:33Speaker 3: I think I've only seen it a handful of times,
- 30:35Speaker 3: but it's one that i've heard about. Like, I have
- 30:38Speaker 3: so many friends that love this movie and have loved
- 30:40Speaker 3: it forever. I think it's super fun. I really enjoyed
- 30:44Speaker 3: this rewatch. I think maybe even more than I did
- 30:47Speaker 3: the first couple of times I watched it. It's just
- 30:50Speaker 3: it's fun. It's a vibe movie more than anything else
- 30:53Speaker 3: to me, you know, in a lot of ways, Like
- 30:55Speaker 3: the surfing is super cool. It's a it's an inventive
- 31:00Speaker 3: little story. I love the heist stuff that we kind
- 31:03Speaker 3: of get with it, well, at least the bank robbery.
- 31:05Speaker 3: I guess they're not really heists, but the bank robbery
- 31:08Speaker 3: parts as well as the like little philosophy we get
- 31:11Speaker 3: stuck in there, and then some general bromance stuff Like
- 31:15Speaker 3: I really had fun watching this. I thought it was
- 31:17Speaker 3: super fun, beautiful shots of the ocean throughout it, with
- 31:22Speaker 3: more of those than I actually remembered. And it's less
- 31:26Speaker 3: of an action movie strangely than I remembered, which I
- 31:29Speaker 3: you know, there's action in it. I don't know, maybe
- 31:32Speaker 3: just a lot of different types of action or thing.
- 31:36Speaker 3: But I really really had a great time rewatching this.
- 31:38Speaker 3: I thought the performances were really fun. I actually think
- 31:41Speaker 3: it's like a better movie than it needs to be,
- 31:44Speaker 3: Like it could have just been kind of a you know,
- 31:46Speaker 3: surfer guy cop shoot him up movie, and like there's
- 31:50Speaker 3: a little bit more behind it, which I love. And yeah,
- 31:54Speaker 3: I just generally just had a great time watching it,
- 31:59Speaker 3: and that I think is most of what I have
- 32:01Speaker 3: for that. But I do have two hot takes.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Hot takes, give them to me.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Hot take number one. Johnny Utah is a terrible name
- 32:09Speaker 3: for a character, and we really should have reevaluated it.
- 32:12Speaker 3: I mean, come on, Also, he's like one of three
- 32:18Speaker 3: people that even has a last name in this movie,
- 32:21Speaker 3: and they went with Utah.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Interesting, incredible.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Everybody remembers it, though so that is true.
- 32:30Speaker 3: So maybe you know, maybe I'm the dumb one. Actually
- 32:33Speaker 3: I am, for sure, but maybe I'm also wrong about this,
- 32:35Speaker 3: you know, who knows. And my second hotter take is
- 32:40Speaker 3: I understand that emotions get high lying as bad. I'm
- 32:45Speaker 3: not one hundred percent sure that shooting a gun at
- 32:48Speaker 3: a pillow next to someone's head is like a measured
- 32:52Speaker 3: response to them lying about who they are.
- 32:55Speaker 1: It may have been an overreaction.
- 32:57Speaker 3: This is a note I have for miss Petty Tyler.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Tyler is very hot headed.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I just don't that seems like we've
- 33:07Speaker 3: jumped a few. We've jumped a few.
- 33:11Speaker 6: Well in the long run.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Do love that they never say maybe they did stay together.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Who knows, but yeah, that's those were my hot takes.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Down, very hot. I remember thinking this movie was awesome
- 33:29Speaker 1: as a kid. It's been a very long time since
- 33:33Speaker 1: i'd seen it. I did not remember how pretty much
- 33:37Speaker 1: everyone died. I had a picture in my mind that
- 33:39Speaker 1: it was more lighthearted, and it was much darker than
- 33:43Speaker 1: I remember for a while. This was directed by Oscar
- 33:48Speaker 1: winning director Catherine Bigelow, who won her Oscars for The
- 33:52Speaker 1: hurt Locker and even got a Best Picture now for
- 33:55Speaker 1: Zero Dark thirty. She's very accomplished. It's written by Rick
- 33:59Speaker 1: King and W. Peter Iliff. This was one of Rick
- 34:03Speaker 1: King's only big commercial movies, but Peter Iliffe went and
- 34:07Speaker 1: wrote Patriot Games and Varsity Blues and he's still rocking
- 34:10Speaker 1: it out. Pretty good.
- 34:11Speaker 3: Wow. Nice.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I also thought it was shot beautifully by Donald Peterman.
- 34:17Speaker 1: So many cool surfing shots, like you said, but also
- 34:20Speaker 1: he was just able to create a bunch of tension
- 34:22Speaker 1: during the robberies. Definitely doing the handheld mics or excuse me, cams. Yeah,
- 34:29Speaker 1: and then clearly they had stunt people skydiving with them
- 34:35Speaker 1: with handheld cameras like that was so great.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Super cool. The skydiving was amazing, it was.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Insane and also out there surfing too, so it was
- 34:45Speaker 1: a lot for that director of photography. Really fun cast
- 34:52Speaker 1: led by Keanu and Swayze. One thing I didn't really
- 34:57Speaker 1: understand was that Swayze just seems so cool, like he's
- 35:04Speaker 1: like a damn the Man kind of guy. He's able
- 35:07Speaker 1: to do these robberies without anyone getting hurt. Seems like
- 35:10Speaker 1: he has all these principles and then he just gets
- 35:14Speaker 1: like super evil and greedy toward the end. It seemed
- 35:17Speaker 1: like a pretty abrupt turn. And I don't think I
- 35:20Speaker 1: really ever understood why that happened.
- 35:24Speaker 5: Johnny Uta stole this girl.
- 35:27Speaker 1: He didn't even seem like, you're really there.
- 35:28Speaker 3: It seemed all that upset about that. He seemed fine.
- 35:30Speaker 5: With that internally.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Internally he was really internalizing it.
- 35:36Speaker 3: I see.
- 35:37Speaker 1: So that is one kind of gripe I guess I
- 35:39Speaker 1: have with it.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Yeah, that is interesting because they go for the vault
- 35:43Speaker 3: really does come out of nowhere other than we heard before.
- 35:47Speaker 3: They're smart, they don't go for the vault.
- 35:50Speaker 1: That wasn't even them And maybe it was just because
- 35:53Speaker 1: everything like they finally or something, have somebody on there,
- 35:59Speaker 1: you know, on their ass, like about to catch them
- 36:02Speaker 1: and like but still, I just it was that's a
- 36:05Speaker 1: little much for me. So that is tough. My hottest
- 36:08Speaker 1: take though, Yes, and really I did see it on
- 36:12Speaker 1: the internet. It's I'm I'm not saying that I came
- 36:16Speaker 1: up with this, but Fast and Furious really took this
- 36:19Speaker 1: concept of having an agent go under cover and respecting
- 36:23Speaker 1: the people he's going after and becomes an adrenaline junkie
- 36:26Speaker 1: right alongside them instead of surfing it's driving fast and
- 36:30Speaker 1: it's really it seemed like a good comparison.
- 36:33Speaker 3: That's a good call. I did not think of that.
- 36:35Speaker 1: I saw it on the internet.
- 36:38Speaker 3: You ever talk about.
- 36:39Speaker 1: Family, probably Nate. That's probably a question for Nate. I
- 36:45Speaker 1: don't know, but yeah, I just thought what you got, Buddy.
- 36:56Speaker 6: Well, this movie was so influential in my childhood because
- 37:03Speaker 6: it was always on TBS. Yeah, and I didn't own
- 37:08Speaker 6: it until high school or possibly like freshman year at
- 37:13Speaker 6: college when it was like a five dollars best buy bye. Yeah,
- 37:19Speaker 6: because I bought it on It was one of like
- 37:21Speaker 6: first DVDs I bought.
- 37:25Speaker 5: But I I.
- 37:27Speaker 6: Just loved this movie and I didn't really I never
- 37:30Speaker 6: put a lot of thought into it. It's just like
- 37:31Speaker 6: fun and action pack. But also you know, there's like
- 37:35Speaker 6: kind of the romance going on.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Like there's a lot of I agree, it's.
- 37:41Speaker 6: Almost like they took a movie and kind of over
- 37:46Speaker 6: the top and they made it like better than it.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Needed to be.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I can see that.
- 37:52Speaker 6: Because yeah, Angelo Pappus, Johnny Utah like what was an
- 37:57Speaker 6: eighth grader picking these names? To me, it works like
- 38:04Speaker 6: they figured out a way to take that like heightened
- 38:07Speaker 6: kind of like you know, oh, what's the word? Just
- 38:12Speaker 6: kind of cheesiness, but the way it's shot and all
- 38:16Speaker 6: woven together, like the amount of and I'm stealing this
- 38:21Speaker 6: idea from a commentary I watched.
- 38:24Speaker 5: I'm pretty sure it's on the DVD.
- 38:27Speaker 6: And I haven't watched that in years, but I remember
- 38:29Speaker 6: them talking about the all all of the intense like
- 38:32Speaker 6: fight scenes, and I think this is very true Catherine Bigelow.
- 38:40Speaker 6: This was one of her first director movies, I believe,
- 38:44Speaker 6: and her coming from a female perspective I think really
- 38:51Speaker 6: influenced the fluidness in these scenes. And it's not just
- 38:55Speaker 6: like like just people shooting each other and like everything
- 38:59Speaker 6: just falls apart in chaos and pandemonium. Like the running
- 39:03Speaker 6: scene is so intense when he's chasing and you're like
- 39:10Speaker 6: on the edge of your seat, and the way they
- 39:12Speaker 6: shoot it and like, oh my gosh, it's so fantastic,
- 39:15Speaker 6: and then the skydiving seems landing in.
- 39:19Speaker 5: The water it's just so like, yeah, it's I don't know.
- 39:25Speaker 6: I think her just coming from a less like blow
- 39:30Speaker 6: everything up perspective really helped this movie be more grounded
- 39:34Speaker 6: and real.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Sure.
- 39:36Speaker 3: I love that.
- 39:37Speaker 6: So yeah, that was big kudos to her, because, yeah,
- 39:40Speaker 6: this is such a great movie for me growing up.
- 39:43Speaker 6: And admittedly on TBS they did show uh when they
- 39:49Speaker 6: bust into the house and shoot everybody.
- 39:51Speaker 5: Yeah, the naked naked ladies.
- 39:54Speaker 6: On TBS, they did show the lady's backside in the thong,
- 39:58Speaker 6: and I remember being like.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Hello, I love this movie.
- 40:03Speaker 5: This is my favorite. I love that.
- 40:07Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 40:08Speaker 1: That is funny you say that the female perspective, being
- 40:12Speaker 1: a female director, and there's some pretty gratuitous nudity.
- 40:15Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, but yeah, definitely it's I mean, she found
- 40:24Speaker 6: she didn't hold back on some of the stuff, but like, yeah,
- 40:27Speaker 6: I think especially in the fight scenes and like the
- 40:29Speaker 6: intense scenes, she shot those with a little more eloquence
- 40:35Speaker 6: than like, you know, a lot of males, would you know.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Love that take bro hat hat.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Once we go ahead and name our favorite acting performance,
- 40:48Speaker 3: shall we name the dude?
- 40:50Speaker 1: Dude?
- 40:51Speaker 7: I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
- 40:54Speaker 7: know that, or his dudeus or duder or eldu to reno.
- 41:01Speaker 7: If you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 41:04Speaker 6: All right, well, I mean I think it's between one
- 41:09Speaker 6: of two people. I think for me, but I'm going
- 41:12Speaker 6: with Keanu.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Love.
- 41:17Speaker 6: He is pretty early in his career at this point.
- 41:22Speaker 6: I don't know if I should say the fun fact
- 41:24Speaker 6: now or later, but.
- 41:26Speaker 3: You can say it now. Yea.
- 41:29Speaker 6: Now, the very last scene of the movie, when he's
- 41:33Speaker 6: on the beach waiting for body that bus has already
- 41:37Speaker 6: talked about anyway, Yeah, oh get him when he comes
- 41:40Speaker 6: to OK and he's not coming back in his hair
- 41:44Speaker 6: is long, and that's because he they shot that scene first,
- 41:52Speaker 6: and it's because he was still filming Bill and Ted's
- 41:54Speaker 6: Focus Journey.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Wow, that's cool.
- 41:58Speaker 6: So that year for him was huge just because he
- 42:03Speaker 6: was in both.
- 42:04Speaker 5: And it's so funny.
- 42:05Speaker 6: People give Keanu a hard time because he does seem
- 42:09Speaker 6: to play a very similar role in a lot of
- 42:11Speaker 6: his movies. Like he's just I don't know how to
- 42:16Speaker 6: explain it, Like I love his acting, but it's very
- 42:22Speaker 6: you know, I don't know how to explain it.
- 42:25Speaker 3: But yeah, in.
- 42:26Speaker 6: This specific movie, like he he just makes it like
- 42:33Speaker 6: like believable, like I want to like I want to
- 42:37Speaker 6: be his friend, and you're like rooting for him, and yeah,
- 42:41Speaker 6: it's I don't know, I just I thought he was
- 42:43Speaker 6: great in it, and he's such an iconic actor that
- 42:46Speaker 6: I would as it's him or swayze and literally would
- 42:51Speaker 6: show pictures of Swayzey's hair from this when I was
- 42:54Speaker 6: in high school to.
- 42:55Speaker 3: The like absolutely, it's amazing.
- 43:01Speaker 6: So yeah, I'm going with Keanu on this one.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Yeah, cool man, I would go with Swayzey. It's funny
- 43:08Speaker 1: that you say that because, like, Swayzey's hair is pretty
- 43:10Speaker 1: short at the very end. Yes, was he wearing a
- 43:15Speaker 1: wig throughout the movie? Do you think or do they just?
- 43:19Speaker 6: Like I think there was like six months in between
- 43:22Speaker 6: that first Okay.
- 43:25Speaker 1: I forget because it because yeah, his hair could have
- 43:28Speaker 1: definitely gotten that long from for sure six months for sure. Yeah,
- 43:32Speaker 1: but okay, yeah, I was just believe you brought that up. Interesting.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I love Swayzey in this. He was like so mysterious.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I loved his kind of fun philosophy was kind of
- 43:45Speaker 1: like deep. It's deeper than I was expecting, you know
- 43:49Speaker 1: when he says like, you know, everybody's in their metal
- 43:52Speaker 1: coffins going to work, and just like it was like, okay,
- 43:57Speaker 1: cool man, But dude, Swaysy was the He was the Swayziest.
- 44:03Speaker 1: He's just the coolest. Yeah, dude, He's just so charming
- 44:10Speaker 1: and like whenever you just see him on screen, like
- 44:13Speaker 1: you're just like, WHOA, this guy has it whatever the
- 44:16Speaker 1: charisma or the riz as the kids say a couple
- 44:20Speaker 1: of years ago. Right, Yeah, he definitely has it for sure.
- 44:30Speaker 1: And really fun performance, I thought, even though he went
- 44:33Speaker 1: a little more evil so fast, but that's you know,
- 44:37Speaker 1: he played it well. It just it felt like.
- 44:39Speaker 3: An abrupt yeah, like we missed a scene or something.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:43Speaker 3: Maybe, Yeah, I love that. Both great picks. I'm gonna
- 44:50Speaker 3: choose the Ocean because it is all pot No, I'm
- 44:53Speaker 3: just kidding. I do love both those dudes. I think
- 45:01Speaker 3: sways he gets it for me, and I'm pretty sure
- 45:04Speaker 3: the reason I picked him is he feels almost elemental
- 45:08Speaker 3: in this movie, Like he almost doesn't feel like a
- 45:12Speaker 3: human being. And I mean that in a way of
- 45:14Speaker 3: like he just seems so certain of what he believes in,
- 45:18Speaker 3: whether it's right or wrong, he seems very certain of it.
- 45:22Speaker 3: And I think I think he has a bigger impact
- 45:26Speaker 3: on Keanu's character than Keanu does on his character, if.
- 45:30Speaker 1: That makes sense, changes Keanu's whole life where.
- 45:34Speaker 3: You know, like he is true, he kind of gets
- 45:38Speaker 3: him to buy in a little bit, and I do
- 45:40Speaker 3: think it's fun. I never I didn't track this, but
- 45:43Speaker 3: it makes sense with the characters that they kind of
- 45:46Speaker 3: went opposite a little bit, like they one had long
- 45:49Speaker 3: hair at the end but short hair at the beginning,
- 45:51Speaker 3: and then the other was the opposite. That's kind of
- 45:54Speaker 3: fun to see these sort of different sides of the
- 45:57Speaker 3: same coin. Maybe you know, but yeah, I'm gonna pick Swayzy.
- 46:02Speaker 3: I just think he's he's so cool, he's gott a
- 46:05Speaker 3: vibe about him, like you said, I just think he's
- 46:08Speaker 3: he's great.
- 46:09Speaker 6: The funny thing now that you guys talk about that,
- 46:12Speaker 6: I'm not gonna switch because that. Yeah, this was like
- 46:17Speaker 6: I think the movie that broke him and then Bill
- 46:19Speaker 6: and Ted's, well, Bill and Ted's got him noticed. This
- 46:23Speaker 6: was the movie that like catapulted kind of brought him
- 46:27Speaker 6: to the forefront. But I never I didn't think about
- 46:31Speaker 6: it until literally we you guys asked about this. Those
- 46:37Speaker 6: two actors like influenced me so much growing up purely, like,
- 46:45Speaker 6: and I didn't think about them being together in this movie,
- 46:49Speaker 6: like how much star power. Yeah, it's like, I mean,
- 46:53Speaker 6: it's kind of almost like The Outsiders in the sense
- 46:55Speaker 6: that like I mean, Swayze had done a few things
- 46:58Speaker 6: prior to this, so it's not like he came out
- 47:00Speaker 6: of nowhere.
- 47:01Speaker 5: But yeah, they both just nailed these parts. Yeah boom.
- 47:08Speaker 1: Well, why don't we go and talk about some of
- 47:11Speaker 1: the fun supporting characters, and let's choose that toll.
- 47:19Speaker 3: May we got for your teach.
- 47:21Speaker 5: Well, my teach was Swayze.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Sure, that makes a lot of sense, it was.
- 47:27Speaker 6: I mean, that's it's pretty obvious. I thought Lori Petty
- 47:30Speaker 6: did such a good job. She's like, you just fell
- 47:37Speaker 6: in love with her intense character, Like yeah, especially growing up.
- 47:43Speaker 5: You're just like, oh man, she's so bad ass. But
- 47:47Speaker 5: also it feels like there's a soft side in there.
- 47:49Speaker 1: That and those piercing blue eyes, the bluest eyes in
- 47:54Speaker 1: the business around here.
- 47:55Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Between her eyes and new is like it looked like
- 48:01Speaker 1: his forehead was botox before botox was a thing. Yeah,
- 48:05Speaker 1: did you notice that that dude is just like smooth?
- 48:09Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 48:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I was like, that's the best skin I've ever seen.
- 48:13Speaker 6: In my life.
- 48:15Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 48:16Speaker 3: What is your skin routine? Tell me? Tell me right now?
- 48:20Speaker 1: Wow?
- 48:22Speaker 5: I think Mary Kay, Mary kay?
- 48:24Speaker 1: Yeah, like that avon.
- 48:28Speaker 3: The lady.
- 48:31Speaker 6: But no, Swayze was transcendent in this movie. I mean
- 48:36Speaker 6: I literally this movie forward. I Swayze was like such
- 48:44Speaker 6: in my in my own personal style, like I.
- 48:47Speaker 5: Wanted to emulate Swayzey's.
- 48:48Speaker 1: I mean, come on, look at my hand totally. Yeah,
- 48:52Speaker 1: can see that.
- 48:53Speaker 6: And you influenced me so so much from like a
- 48:57Speaker 6: style perspective, because all of the movies he's in, including
- 49:00Speaker 6: this one where he's a little more surfree and.
- 49:02Speaker 5: Like bodacious but radical.
- 49:09Speaker 6: Yeah, he plays a great like fifty slicked back greaser.
- 49:13Speaker 6: He plays a great surfer in all of his styles
- 49:16Speaker 6: in all of his movies. I was always just like, man,
- 49:19Speaker 6: how I need to work out more?
- 49:24Speaker 3: Dude? He is ripped up in this movie.
- 49:26Speaker 5: Oh he is shredded.
- 49:28Speaker 6: Yeah he he was fantastic for all the reasons you
- 49:31Speaker 6: guys said, really brought everything together, and yeah.
- 49:37Speaker 1: He's the man. I would have went with Gary buseyas
- 49:41Speaker 1: PAPIs what a guy, Just the craziest dude on the planet,
- 49:47Speaker 1: the nuttiest. He wasn't too crazy at this point, but
- 49:51Speaker 1: this was still on.
- 49:52Speaker 3: The other side of the bell curve of crazy for
- 49:54Speaker 3: him there.
- 49:55Speaker 6: But yeah, yeah, yeah, I can't remember if this is
- 49:59Speaker 6: pre or post motorcycle accident, did you guys know that
- 50:03Speaker 6: about It's it's the late eighties or right after this
- 50:07Speaker 6: movie that Bucy was like was getting his bike worked
- 50:11Speaker 6: on at a shop on like Sunset Strip, and he
- 50:13Speaker 6: went to pull out from the shop that his bike
- 50:15Speaker 6: just got and he like got hit by a car
- 50:18Speaker 6: or something like head ahead trauma trauma.
- 50:21Speaker 5: We'll have to google this one because I don't remember.
- 50:24Speaker 3: It's eighty eight, so that would have been before this.
- 50:26Speaker 3: That would have been before filming probably, Yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 5: It would have filmed in eighty nine, ninety Wow.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Crazy, but yeah, he just played the kind of grizzled vet,
- 50:40Speaker 1: you know, being a mentor to this young cocky agent.
- 50:45Speaker 1: I thought he did that really really well, and it
- 50:50Speaker 1: was fun. You know, he kind of like needed to
- 50:52Speaker 1: get his fire back, you know, he needed somebody to
- 50:56Speaker 1: pump him up, to get him like, okay, all right,
- 50:58Speaker 1: let's do this figure this out out.
- 51:00Speaker 5: You're not dead yet.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Yeah, And I thought I thought he did that really well.
- 51:06Speaker 3: I really liked him talk about I'm with you, Rob.
- 51:08Speaker 3: I did not remember he died. I just thought he
- 51:10Speaker 3: got shot.
- 51:11Speaker 4: I didn't also didn't remember that wait he dies, well,
- 51:16Speaker 4: in fact, no, he just got really yeah and at
- 51:21Speaker 4: a farm upstate.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Don't worry about it. In fact, I thought that line
- 51:26Speaker 3: that I already ruined and I'm sorry, we'll get him
- 51:28Speaker 3: when he comes back in. I thought that was him.
- 51:31Speaker 3: I thought that voice was him for in my brain.
- 51:34Speaker 3: And then I was like, well, no, can't be the
- 51:36Speaker 3: guy like Field the Dreams. Yeah, this guy here's dead,
- 51:41Speaker 3: but yeah, it's a I just didn't remember that, that's saying,
- 51:45Speaker 3: though loved him.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Who do you pick for the tuch?
- 51:49Speaker 3: I did not remember. Also that Tom seismars in this movie,
- 51:52Speaker 3: and he's great in his like he's always great, like
- 51:56Speaker 3: one scene. I guess basically, I was.
- 52:00Speaker 1: A big Tom Sizemore fan.
- 52:01Speaker 3: Dude.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I loved him in every single thing I saw.
- 52:04Speaker 3: I don't know that I've ever seen him in anything bad,
- 52:06Speaker 3: you know, like that, which is crazy.
- 52:07Speaker 1: I think the later end of his career did a
- 52:09Speaker 1: lot of bad stuff, but I did bad watch any
- 52:11Speaker 1: of it, like straight to video kind of stuff.
- 52:16Speaker 3: And all these annivers anniversary movies that we see him
- 52:19Speaker 3: pop in, he's just killing it in them, so fun.
- 52:22Speaker 1: I'm just like a great character actor.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Yeah, he's just wonderful. I really liked his I'm with
- 52:28Speaker 3: you spot in this. I thought that was fun. Another
- 52:30Speaker 3: character actor. I just loved John C McGinley in this
- 52:35Speaker 3: run up the perfect law enforcement boss, like just yelling
- 52:40Speaker 3: and expected him to be like, I want your gun
- 52:42Speaker 3: in your badge.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you're the best detective I have, you know, like.
- 52:46Speaker 3: They give.
- 52:48Speaker 5: He's such an asshole, He's.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Just the worst.
- 52:51Speaker 1: It really well, it's perfect, dude.
- 52:55Speaker 3: I love him so much. And then uh Lee Turguson
- 52:59Speaker 3: who was just in the gang but he's Terry from Wayne's.
- 53:03Speaker 3: That was weird to.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Say, sall, what's what's he doing? I know, I had
- 53:08Speaker 1: to go and look him up as like I know
- 53:09Speaker 1: that guy, and then.
- 53:10Speaker 3: I saw Wayne was like, oh of course, yeah yeah, yeah.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Yes, so wild And how weird was it seeing Anthony
- 53:19Speaker 1: Ketas in there that was getting foot blown off.
- 53:24Speaker 6: It's funny because I mean Chili Peppers would have been
- 53:27Speaker 6: out like their kind of peak. Yeah, and that was
- 53:31Speaker 6: for sure like just blowing up. So yeah, the fact
- 53:35Speaker 6: that he was in that, well.
- 53:37Speaker 1: They showed up in a few things him and Flee
- 53:40Speaker 1: and a few things.
- 53:42Speaker 3: I feel like, yeah, yeah, that's true.
- 53:45Speaker 6: Well because yeah, Flee was in Back to the Futures,
- 53:48Speaker 6: Anthony keatis is and I think he's in.
- 53:50Speaker 1: A few things, yeah, the chase. Oh yeah, but those
- 53:58Speaker 1: are the only people I wrote down. Did you guys
- 54:00Speaker 1: anybody else down't?
- 54:03Speaker 5: I mean Lori Petty.
- 54:04Speaker 1: And yeah that's you picture you too great?
- 54:08Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 54:09Speaker 5: Sorry?
- 54:10Speaker 3: What was what topic are we on now? Oh? Yeah?
- 54:14Speaker 5: I was like Gary Busey was like.
- 54:16Speaker 6: Yeah, my he was fantastic.
- 54:19Speaker 5: I mean he's so.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Again it goes along with kind.
- 54:23Speaker 6: Of the theme of the movie, like he's goofy and
- 54:26Speaker 6: a little off kilter, but in the perfect way.
- 54:29Speaker 3: Ye, Like it's in any.
- 54:32Speaker 6: Other situation that character, you wouldn't you wouldn't buy it,
- 54:37Speaker 6: but the way they put everything together and just yeah,
- 54:40Speaker 6: it all came together so well that it's a fantastic role.
- 54:43Speaker 6: And there's nobody else I can avoid that dude.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I thought he was gonna for sure blow the cover
- 54:49Speaker 1: when when he can't see Johnny Utah and he's getting
- 54:54Speaker 1: his ass kicked and body comes and helps him out,
- 54:59Speaker 1: but he's like running to go check it out, and
- 55:01Speaker 1: then he sees them and he's like he was so
- 55:04Speaker 1: quick on his feet. That was such a fun scene.
- 55:07Speaker 3: It was kind of the first time we're like, oh,
- 55:09Speaker 3: this guy isn't just a kind of a like an idiot,
- 55:12Speaker 3: and yeah, yeah, that's really great kid.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Yeah it was good.
- 55:18Speaker 3: It was good. Totally believable. Yeah, totally believable.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Well, let's talk about some more scenes, and let's pick
- 55:25Speaker 1: our favorite scene, and let's choose the dingas the dingas.
- 55:30Speaker 1: So it's quite simple, really, dingus, dingus.
- 55:34Speaker 3: I could talk about my dingas all night long.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Nate favorite scene in this whole film that you.
- 55:41Speaker 5: Love, toughy, how do I pick one? Pick one, and
- 55:46Speaker 5: we'll talk about more, but pick vividly.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Remember, like I would wait.
- 55:55Speaker 6: To see, like I'd be like, okay, uh, I know
- 56:00Speaker 6: TBS is playing this, so in like thirty minutes, it's
- 56:03Speaker 6: going to be like and there's like six scenes in
- 56:05Speaker 6: this movie that I just like I wanted to watch.
- 56:09Speaker 6: I mean, I think it goes without saying, like the
- 56:11Speaker 6: whole entire bank robbery sequence at the end so intense.
- 56:17Speaker 6: I think this scene with the naked girls.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Amen, brother, Amen, and year old Nate, Yeah, I love it.
- 56:27Speaker 6: No, that whole sequence where there he's about to push
- 56:31Speaker 6: his face into the lawnmower and like like that is
- 56:35Speaker 6: such an intense scene where.
- 56:36Speaker 5: There it's great ticking out the window, do we go in?
- 56:38Speaker 1: Do we not go in?
- 56:39Speaker 6: And then it's just pandemonium and like people are getting
- 56:43Speaker 6: shot and yeah, Canna Reeve's faces and then yeah, you know.
- 56:49Speaker 1: In the moment, I think if that silky, smooth skinned
- 56:53Speaker 1: face would have went put in that lawnmower, that would
- 56:56Speaker 1: have just bounced off. Well that's a yeah, just slipped
- 56:59Speaker 1: right off slick. Yeah.
- 57:03Speaker 5: I think that scene might be the most like, that's.
- 57:07Speaker 6: Probably my favorite, just from like intense, like it is
- 57:11Speaker 6: intense happening.
- 57:13Speaker 3: It is crazy, but it.
- 57:16Speaker 6: It was tough because like the running scene, I also
- 57:18Speaker 6: really liked.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Well, that is going to be mine. That is my
- 57:23Speaker 1: Dingus is chasing body through the neighborhood.
- 57:27Speaker 3: Dude, it's crazy.
- 57:27Speaker 1: He throws a pit bull at him. Yeah, throws a
- 57:32Speaker 1: pit bull at him, jump so many fences, goes through houses,
- 57:37Speaker 1: Keanu breaks through a sliding door.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Uh.
- 57:40Speaker 1: It ends with a dramatic as he shoots his gun
- 57:44Speaker 1: in the air.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Yeah, he's gonna have to explain why he shot his gun.
- 57:50Speaker 1: But okay, I've never dramatically shot your gun in the
- 57:54Speaker 1: air when you've been so upset.
- 57:56Speaker 3: No, I have not on the clock.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, thank you.
- 58:00Speaker 5: We've all been in LA in the early nineties.
- 58:03Speaker 6: They didn't.
- 58:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. There's probably not a lot of oversight
- 58:06Speaker 3: with that junk. Sure, Okay, that's that's you're missing an
- 58:09Speaker 3: entire magazine.
- 58:12Speaker 1: It was good.
- 58:13Speaker 5: I just got mad.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Superman my knees on this stuff.
- 58:18Speaker 5: Yeah, football injury.
- 58:20Speaker 1: But no, the the camera work in that is unbelievable.
- 58:26Speaker 1: It's so intense, dude, especially for nineteen ninety one like that.
- 58:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it was probably pretty I don't know, I think
- 58:32Speaker 3: that's amazing looking.
- 58:33Speaker 1: It was really cool.
- 58:34Speaker 6: That's could you imagine being the camera guy like having
- 58:37Speaker 6: to chase those guys?
- 58:39Speaker 5: No, could you saw it down.
- 58:41Speaker 1: A little bit?
- 58:42Speaker 3: I gotta care. Yeah, it made me think of is
- 58:47Speaker 3: it Casino Royale that starts that way? With all the stuff?
- 58:51Speaker 3: You made me think of that for sure, and that
- 58:53Speaker 3: seems badasso. Yeah. Well yeah, I just I was. I
- 58:58Speaker 3: kind of forgot that that chase scene even happened the.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Same and it was the highlight of the film for me.
- 59:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you have for your Dingay?
- 59:08Speaker 3: It was between those two, between the chase scene and
- 59:11Speaker 3: then just the whole crazy breaking into their house and
- 59:16Speaker 3: all the chaos that ensues around there, just so good
- 59:19Speaker 3: on drama happening. But I will say, if we're talking
- 59:23Speaker 3: sexy scenes, there was something very very beguiling about her
- 59:29Speaker 3: changing out of her swimsuit and just broad daylight.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:33Speaker 3: I can remember as a kid being like, I don't
- 59:35Speaker 3: know why, but I like, I like that, and I don't.
- 59:39Speaker 3: I can't. I can't quite put my finger on it.
- 59:43Speaker 1: A little voyeuristic a bit.
- 59:45Speaker 3: I don't know. It was fun, it was funny.
- 59:48Speaker 1: It was fun. Oh my god, that's good.
- 59:53Speaker 3: But yeah, that scene was just I was like, oh my.
- 59:57Speaker 5: Sansy, Well, it's super clean.
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: You don't see anything, but it's almost imagination.
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the part I like.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: I think My question is how did how many times
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: did they have to film that?
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: I don't know, dude, girls are good at that stuff,
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Like they had to figure that stuff out, I feel like,
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: because I feel like I've seen ladies do that around
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: me as well. Yeah, they're just good on it. I
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: don't feel around me necessarily.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: It just seems like good. It seems like skill.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: The knocks out and I'm just waiting.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: They don't know I'm there to be but okay, that's.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: There's not a laughing matter.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: It will be more than that. But yeah, yeah, I
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: don't know. I would just got naked on the beach,
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: but you would have really did a good job.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I've seen it, say some runner ups.
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: Bunny Uh, well, I did have the caf FA scene
- 1:01:06Speaker 6: where uh her and Johnny Utah meet. Uh like ending
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: with that scene ends with her, you know, get into
- 1:01:17Speaker 6: a car and it's like, I love her little I
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: forget what it is.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: A little like coop thing. It's cool, such a cool
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: little car, a cool car.
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: So yeah, that whole scene, the scene where he gets
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: jumped and breaks the surfboard and that's where Angelo Pappis
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: kind of becomes a real character and then it's cool
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: goopy old dad. Let's see what else.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: Another one of mine is just dude jumping out of
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: the plane without a shoot.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: That nuts man in actually that skydiving, that whole skydiving
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: thing that the.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Previous skydiving sequence was beautiful too.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: Well yeah when they land in those like well, I
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: don't even know what what that has to be a.
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: National park.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: In the water and stuffy.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm clear about where they are at that.
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: Point because I don't know how far you would actually
- 1:02:17Speaker 6: have to fly from LA to get there. I don't
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: feel like that's actually logistically feasible, but.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: Yeah, who knows.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: But yeah, there are so many scenes in this movie,
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: or like scenes in this whole movie, that are fantastic
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: standalone scenes.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I loved all the just Bank robberies too. All those
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: are super intense and it was fun. All their goofy masks,
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: the one guy killer Nick's an impression.
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: It really is good.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: He was going for it.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: He got into that because he wanted to be in
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: an improv troupe and he was like, well, we have to,
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: but we're going to rob and he was like, Okay,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: I'm cool with that.
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: I will say that line that scene since I've been
- 1:03:06Speaker 6: a kid. Anytime I see a security camera, I'll walk
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: by and go, I'm not a crock.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: I am not a crock.
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: Really, I knew that before I actually do what that
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: came from.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Oh I love that.
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: Yeah, I didn't know Nixon said that.
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely true.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: And when I saw this for the first time.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Yeah, that's really great. I also loved this was just
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: more of a can't be seen But the hair collection scene,
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: like the little montage thing is just pretty fun and dumb.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Sup I liked it.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: It was fun some real like science, you know, like
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: it's it's science. Shut up, just move on, move on,
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: like we can match the genome and it's fine, it's fine.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: That was great.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Yeah, well I would be down doing a double and
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: doing the chasing body through the neighborhood and that super intense.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Love it almost getting in the lawnmower scene, but that
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: what do you call that?
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Raid? Yeah? The raid?
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: The raid?
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Love it cool. Let's do I love that.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Let's talk about some of these fun quotes and let's
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: show me the money, show me the money, show me.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: What do you got for a quote? Uh?
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: This is one of the dumbest lines in the whole movie.
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: But I love it so much and it's always stuck
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: with me. And I recently just saw somebody made the
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: shirt of it because it kept showing up on my
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: Instagram feed. Angela pappis with Johnny sitting in the car
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: and he goes right around that corner. There's a much
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: they tell meat ball sandwiches best have ever tasted? Would
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: you go get me to come on partner too?
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Thank you? Utah give me two.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Yeah, the Utah get me too out on my list.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: It's perfect. He is so solely focused on those meatball
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: sandwiches at that point, and I'm going to miss the
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: robbery sandwich.
- 1:05:22Speaker 6: It is so funny. And the shirt just says, Utah,
- 1:05:26Speaker 6: get me to and I like, you.
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: Know exactly what. But then the follow up line.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: To that, when he's eating.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: Sandwich, he goes, I'm so hungry, I could eat the
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: ac out of a debtor. Rh I know I should
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: have had you.
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: Give me three of these things.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Beautiful, which we also get in the movie Apollo thirteen
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: from Bill Paxton.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: Yes, yes, is that from this what's he referencing?
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: No? No, no, Well is Bill Paxton.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: Referencing who just also was saying that some people said,
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: I suppose but yeah, that's so.
- 1:06:03Speaker 6: I'm sure it was the same from like the sixties, Yeah, seventies.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Also, when he's like Kelvin knops, it's hilarious, you know,
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: like he does this big like tackle.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: What else you got, Nate?
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: Another one that I always stuck with me was listen
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: you not know those little ship I was taking shrapnel
- 1:06:24Speaker 6: in case son when you were cropping, crapping in your
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: hands and roughingr face gross.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: Yucky.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: What do you think he was a little chimpanzee or something.
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: Just it's like the dumbest just moselle landish lines, but
- 1:06:44Speaker 8: they fit so perfectly, so well delivered.
- 1:06:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean body has a ton of.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Like philosophical ones.
- 1:06:56Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I stayed away from those because they're so
- 1:07:00Speaker 6: many of them. But honestly, just Johnny utahs saying body, body, body.
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: Well on the one we set up top, he's.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Not coming back.
- 1:07:15Speaker 6: Br uh, But yeah, those are those are definitely my
- 1:07:19Speaker 6: my tops.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: And then I'm not a crook.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Sure I liked Uh Johnson mcginley's like you know nothing.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: In fact, you know less than nothing. If you knew
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: that you knew nothing, then that would be something, but
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: you don't.
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: But you don't.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: I like he's got a lot of goofy and uh,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: I like the yes, that's right, harp And out of
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: all these years, I've learned something that you still haven't got. Yeah,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: why don't you astonish me? Face? And then he just
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: punches him out and says respect for my elders. Nice boom,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: pappas punch You're about to jump out of perfectly good airplane, Johnny,
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: how do you feel about that?
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Yeah? Not great. I'm agreeing about it.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: That's a great line.
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: Blood you'll be dead soon.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Yeah right, And I like the if you want the
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: ultimate you got to be willing to pay the ultimate price.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a pretty good line.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Yeah, what you got there?
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: Bugs fire condas?
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: I love that line.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Oh no, that was Swayze that said it though, right?
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: Oh that was was it?
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: When he's going out of the.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Yeah that is a great one. Yeah, yeah, this is
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: this is what Keanu says to him when he's like,
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: let me go get one more wave and he's.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Like, fly a con Okay.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: I also loved the fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: cause your worst fears to come true. You show strength
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: to avoid conflict peace through superior firepower when he's just
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: like kind of losing it a little bit. I thought
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: that was fun. Uh, he says at one point, I
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: guess this isn't so much a line, but I did
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: think it was a fun little homage. I think it's
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: Kean who says that he had lunch at Patrick's roadhouse
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: and I gotta imagine that's a reference to Rose right.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Also, that was like, it really like stuck.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Out to me. You know, yeah, I thought that was fun.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: What are you dirty dancing over there?
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that'd be fun. That'd be fun. Who put you
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: in a corner? I can? I love this line. I
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: can barely do this in broad daylight. Come on, at
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: least no one will see how bad you are when
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: they're doing the surfing at night. But that was pretty fun.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: I like that also loved mostly just because of his name,
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: but when the guys jump him when they're in the
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: shower or at the outdoor shower and he's like, it's ways.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: He comes in and he just goes back off, war child,
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: I'm serious. And then he does and then he's like
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: thank you, yes, thank you. It's so patronizing, and I
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: loved it. It was so funny. I really liked that
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: a lot.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: And then.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: Are you through, mister wizard? Let me know if you
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: find mister hoff under the seat, it's when he's just
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: like looking into his card.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: Which is wild because that didn't happen.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: What year did that happen? The half istif yeah, it's
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: gotta be old.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: It's definitely older, old as.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: You would think, though it's like the eighties. I think
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: it's not.
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Is it looking I'm la.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I have my researcher on it right now.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: Seventy five is when he disappeared.
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: Okay, so fifteen years okay, that's enough time.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: For Yeah, July thirty, seventy.
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: Five, Okay.
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: I was thinking for some reason, it was like early,
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: he's yeah, five years old.
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: Close.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: They probably gave up on him by them, you.
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: Know, oh yeah, they're probably like, no, he he's.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: In there the pet some building or something.
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: Guyan Stadium, swimming with the fishies.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: I don't know if I have one scene that I
- 1:11:28Speaker 6: completely forgot that is super when Swayze's mask comes off
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: at the end for the first time and.
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: You see his face. Yeah, it's so well shot.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: I did love that.
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: The expression on his face is fantastic of like here I.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: Am, yep, this is it now. Yeah. I thought that
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: was great. Oh. I did like when they were leaving
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: the beach, I think after the fight scene and he
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: says some story about like, oh, you haven't felt what
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: surfing is yet, right, Like, oh, it's about the vibe
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: and it's about the connecting to the source and all that,
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: and he's like, and Keanu just goes, hey, you're not
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: gonna start chanting or anything, are you? And then says
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: like genuinely delighted, just goes I might. I thought that
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: was pretty great. I love that line.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Yeah that's good.
- 1:12:23Speaker 6: Yeah, it's funny because you can tell they genuinely their
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: characters genuinely like each other.
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: Yeah, totally totally.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: There's yeah respect for each other at big time. M
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: All right, well then why don't we move on to
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: bugs boohoo moments? Wow, the crying game. I don't think
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: you cried in this movie, so I put zero. There
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: is there are some like, you know, maybe some lori
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: petty stuff. I personally never.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: Got there once you put on for instance, right, yes,
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: sad tissues.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, so I didn't actually write any down. Did
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: you have any?
- 1:13:09Speaker 5: Uh?
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Not really?
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: The only I think potentially when Papas gets shot at
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: the end, I could see that.
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: That was the closest. But yeah, I didn't cry during
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: this movie. Now, I was kind of surprised by that, actually,
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: but I never got there overly sentimental really necessarily. So yeah,
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: you guys nailed it. There was no sweet nailed it.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: Let's do a little movie to Rivia here, okay, let's see.
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: Production began under the working title of Johnny Utah, So
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: it wasn't just the last second decision, but following, and
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: that was following the casting of We Got a Name.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: The studio later changed the title to Writers on the
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Storm after the song by the Doors, which I think
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: is a pretty badass name and right so, but producers
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: eventually rejected both titles due to lack of perceived relevance
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: to surfing and the lyrical content of the song. The
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: final title, point Break, was selected approximately halfway through principal photography,
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: and describes the type of waves that breaks as it
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: hits a point of land or a rock protrusion. I
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: thought that was interesting. Yeah, Johnny Utah would have been
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: a bad name. Riders on the Storm could have worked.
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: I still think that could work.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: It's too long, Yeah, I think point break really worked.
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: Did it worked? Yeah? Sure?
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: Sure?
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, here we are.
- 1:14:39Speaker 5: I think they could have just called it point.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Or break point. Patrick Swayze performed many of his own
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: surfing stunts. He refused a stunt double from most of
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: the surfing scenes, consistent with his practice of performing his
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: own fight choreography and driving stunts in previous films for
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: most for the most technically demanding wave sequences, like during
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: the Final Fifty Year Storm, for instance, professional surfers Derek
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: Donor and Matt Archbold served as his stunt doubles. But
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: he did pretty fun. Yeah, very cool wherever those dudes
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: are pretty cool. He did, however, suffer for his craft.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: He sustained four cracked rips during production because of the
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: surfing scenes, So that's whoops, tough ees, But yeah, And
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: in fact, Keanu, Patrick Swayzey, and Lori Petty trained for
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: two months on Kawhi prior to the commencement of principal photography.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: Former professional surfers helped instruct them, and Swayze and Lori
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: Petty had no prior surfing experience before that training period began,
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: so that's pretty impressive. He went from never on surfing
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: to like doing it then that's yeah, yeah, it's amazing
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: so much in this movie Big Time. Have you guys
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: are served?
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: Have you guys ever tried I'm body served.
- 1:16:08Speaker 6: I've tried two or three times, only gotten up. Like
- 1:16:12Speaker 6: it's it looks a lot different. It's all about timing
- 1:16:17Speaker 6: and because like skate I can skateboard, I can snowboard
- 1:16:21Speaker 6: like whatever.
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: All that's not tough. I'm sure once I got up.
- 1:16:27Speaker 6: But the problem is, like I've never gone at the
- 1:16:29Speaker 6: right time of day when the waves.
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: Let's do something like just.
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: I said, the next time I have an opportunity, I'm
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: just gonna sign up for a lesson. So like I'm
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: there when I'm supposed to be and not at like
- 1:16:43Speaker 6: noon when you know, kids are you know, throwing sand
- 1:16:46Speaker 6: at each other.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Only channel surfing or surfing the wind.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: Get the web man, let's see. Second unit director and
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: stunt corner Glenn Wilder held fight training sessions for the
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: cast on weekends because Catherine Bigelow wanted all the actors
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: to do their own fights on screen without stuntmen. Anthony
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: Keatis was allegedly the only cast member who missed the training,
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: and so Wilder had his character knocked out with one
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: punch during the first fight sequence in the movie. So
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: he wasn't there. Just like you're going to get knocked out, You're.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Getting knocked out, You're gonna get your foot blown off,
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: You're gonna yell a lot.
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: That's it. You're done. That's a wrap on ketis that
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: was out of here. Patrick Swayze, who participated in skydiving
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: as a hobby, was told to stop for insurance purposes.
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: Once production began, producers coaxed him into the agreement with
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: the promise of letting the star do one actual skydive
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: on screen. Uh. The uncut shot of body yelling audiosamego
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: which you and fall from the plane features Swayze actually
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: making that jump. So that was a live jump on
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: a plane. Yeah yeah. Unbeknownst to producers. However, when not
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: on when he wasn't on the day's call sheet, Swaysey
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: would occasionally run to the airport and go skydive anyway.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: So he was just kind of crazy.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: What a nut.
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: I love it, That's fun, uh, Keanu Reeve.
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: Let's see what I do in my author is Hell yeah,
- 1:18:25Speaker 6: hell yeah.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: Keanu observed FBI agents in LA to prepare for the
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: role of Johnny Utah. Reeves also trained with the University
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: of California this little thing, it's UCLA coach quarterbacks coach
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: to develop technical proficiency for the football sequences. Wasn't great
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: at throwing the football, but he made it work. He
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: got better for replacements for sure. Oh yeah, let's see,
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: I just thought this was fun. Co producer Rick King
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: conceived the initial premise while observing surfers at a beach.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: An article in LA Weekly regarding the bank robbery statistics
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: in LA provided the primary inspiration for the narrative after that,
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: and then the original concept involved an undercover FBI agent
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: infiltrating a group of surfers who utilized bank robberies to
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: fund their recreational activities. So he was just like people
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: watching at the beach, which is crazy.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: I think he'll be named Johnny Utah.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: Johnny Utah, that's the license plate I'm looking at. The
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: character name Bodi, portrayed by Patrick Swayze, derives from the
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: Buddhist concept of body slatva. The Sanskript term identifies an
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: enlightened being who voluntarily postpones final entry into nirvana to
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: assist others in achieving liberation. The root word for body
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: translates specifically to wakefulness or spiritual awakening within Buddhist theology,
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: So they weren't trying to get kind of deep with
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: his name like that. Let's see, Oh, I just thought
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: this was interesting. The backstory for the character Johnny Utah
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: involves the knee injury that ends his collegiate football career.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: Keanu Reeves was a successful high school hockey goaltender in
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: Toronto and earned the nickname the Wall, but he had
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: a knee injury that prevented him from pursuing the professional
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: hockey career before he entered the acting profession. And then
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: Patrick Swayzee also suffered a knee injury during a football
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: game in his senior year high school. It required multiple
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: surgeries and it led to him focusing on dance and
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: gymnastics as a form of physical therapy. And then yeah,
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: apparently his chronic conditioning worsened. Chronic condition worsened during the
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: filming of this movie, and he had to get his
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: knee drained from fluid every single day, or drained of
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: fluid every single day. Blit. Yeah, that seems rough. Blit rough.
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: After bullying your color, Yeah he did.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: Those are some sick moves.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: Just cut it off.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: Just cut it off.
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: I need to be drained. That's a that's a different direction.
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: When body throws the pit bull at Utah, I know
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: some of you are concerned, so let's just get this
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: out of the way. When body throws the pitbull at Utah,
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: who then pulls the dog off and then kicks the
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: dog out of you. The scene shot in cuts using
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: a fake dog and a real one. The real putball.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: The real pitbull was gently tossed by the trainer into
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: the actor's arms a distance of approximately one and a
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: half feet. The dog had been prepped for this and
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: was comfortable with the action. I think this note is
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: so still it's ridiculous. He'd been prepped for it and
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: was comfortable. He even liked it. I would to say
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: the ground was padded underneath it to ensure complete sah.
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: He got treat so many treats and obviously a fake
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: dog was used when Johnny Utah kicked the dog. That's good,
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: a really important note for them. We took care of
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: the dog and then we kicked out of it as
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: well like that. That's funny. Oh, I thought this was fun.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: The members of the ex presidents are killed in the
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: order of when their respective president served in office.
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: That's a big one.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Isn't that cool that?
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: I think that's really neat. I never would have figured
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: that out on my own, because lazy more than anything. Okay,
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: a free fall from the altitude of four thousand feet
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: lasts approximately thirty one seconds. The film depicts a free
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: fall of ninety seconds from this altitude. A freefall of
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: ninety seconds requires an altitude of eighteen thousand feet. Also,
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: wind noise during freefall reaches approximately one hundred and fifteen decibels,
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: which is about a live rock concert or a chainsaw.
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: Flint and MythBusters. In two thousand and three, they did
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: an episode on the Point Break trilogy they called it,
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: but they basically figured out that they couldn't have couldn't
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: have been from that height and done ninety seconds, and
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: they couldn't have been having a conversation also falling. So
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: that's kind of fun, but you know, suspend disbelief. I
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: guess I just thought that was fun. That MythBuster.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: That is fun.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that was all I had, though, Rob, did you
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: have some other set?
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: I did have some other stuff. Catherine Bigelow fought to
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: have Keani cast as Johnny Utah, insisting she wouldn't film
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: the movie without him. The studio and producers were interested
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: in looking at higher profile actors at the time, like
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Johnny Depp. Oh Sure, Sir Ridley Scott served as the
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: initial director for the project in eighty seven. Scott spent
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: five months in pre production on the film. Then it
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: was titled Johnny Utah at that point before he departed
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: the production. He subsequently directed Thelman Louise, So he did.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: He did fine for himself as well. James Cameron performed
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: uncredited rewrites on the final script. An unresolved arbitration with
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: the Writer's Guild of America prevented him from receiving a credit.
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: Catherine Bigelow also contributed to the script.
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: Cool and they were married at the time.
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, how fun. And one thing that was just
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: kind of fun. Gary Busey has come out in interviews
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: and said the infamous meatball sandwhich is seen where he
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: says Utah, get me too, was ad libbed and improvised.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: Of course, it was Did you have anything else, Nate?
- 1:24:47Speaker 5: That's I think all the stuff that I know nice.
- 1:24:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean we talked about a few of the
- 1:24:58Speaker 6: small ones. Oh the uh, maybe we need to check
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: this one, but I'm pretty sure the.
- 1:25:07Speaker 5: What do they call.
- 1:25:08Speaker 6: Them, the spillways where yeah, he's lay and ends up shooting.
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: It's the same spillway they used in Greece.
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: Oh fun, Remember Is that the La River stuff there?
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: Right? I always think of Greece or Terminator to Judgment.
- 1:25:27Speaker 3: Yep, super fun.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: Shooting is there in like the.
- 1:25:34Speaker 6: Most densely populated area, Like those bullets.
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: Do have to come down, they just keep going up.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: I wouldn't worry about it. Yep.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: Will there be a Judgment day? Speaking of Judgment Day?
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: Yeah, did you see the trivia about this one?
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: I did, but you say it okay?
- 1:25:55Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Twentieth Century Fox had made plans for a sequel to
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: the film to be released in the summer of nineteen
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: ninety three. In fact, a script had been written and
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: was in pre production. Despite the film grossing ninety million
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: dollars worldwide, the studio just decide to scrap it, so
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: it never happened.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I did not see that trivia. The thing that I saw, oh,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: was that there is a sequel series that's connected to
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: the ex President's Gang that is going to be coming
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: out next year on AMC Plus.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Well, that's intriguing.
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be taken thirty five years after.
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: I think it's set in Australia.
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: So, but there also was a terrible remake in twenty
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: fifteen that maybe it's not terrible.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: I never saw it.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: I'm assuming that it's terrible. I never saw it either.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: Yeah, did you see.
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: That Nate the remake?
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Yeah, the remake.
- 1:26:53Speaker 6: I watched like half of it on an airplane once,
- 1:26:56Speaker 6: but then I landed.
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: I thought it was fine. I didn't really.
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: Want to watch it, though, so admittedly I went into
- 1:27:07Speaker 6: it not wanting Yeah.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: That's how I felt too. I was just like, why
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: are we doing this?
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it's.
- 1:27:16Speaker 6: There is a very very fine like it's one thing
- 1:27:22Speaker 6: to remake movies.
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: I shouldn't say.
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: I guess it's no different than like my parents' age,
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: Like you know, they grew up on certain movies and
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: then they were remade in the eighties and nineties. But
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: I don't know, there's just it's really really tough to
- 1:27:37Speaker 6: do it justice, Like with sequels that far or remakes
- 1:27:44Speaker 6: of such like iconic movies. I think there are very
- 1:27:48Speaker 6: few that get it right.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I agreed, All right, Cool, Well do you guys
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: want to play a game? O? Yeah, I made a
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: game for you. We're going to do a starting five.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I haven't done this for a little bit. I'm gonna
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: name my five favorite actors from a particular film. When
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: you know the film, you're gonna ring in with your name.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: If you get it wrong, there won't be any negative points,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: but you won't be able to guess again for that movie.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: If there are actors' names remaining, you can guess those
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: for a point each. The other person can steal if
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: you get any of those names wrong. All of these
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: films have something in common, usually pertains to the movie
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: we just talked about, And when you know the theme,
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: you can ring it at any time for a point.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: Sound good, sounds great?
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: All right, let's good. Number one? No, come on, you're
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: gonna do great great. M Number one in this theme
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: is not super easy, so we'll see how you do.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: Number one. The first name is f. Murray Abraham. What
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: did Murray Abraham ever do to you?
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: I like that guy me too. You think of what
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: he's been there and lots of things.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: The second name is Robert Loggia. He has a real.
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: Oh yeah, gravelly voice.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: The third name is Mary Elizabeth Master Antonio.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: That's too many names.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: It's a lot.
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: Is that the replacements is that the lady from.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: The Replacements, good guess, And Robert log is definitely in that.
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: It's a good guess. It's a very good guess, so
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: buse can't answer for the rest of this here, Nate's.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: The fourth name I'm gonna say is Michelle Pfeiffer, and
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: the fifth and final name is WHOA al Pacino. H.
- 1:30:03Speaker 6: I know that I can see it in my head.
- 1:30:07Speaker 6: I haven't actually seen them. It's it's in the same
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: time for your period.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: He heard it is the right vowel that you're there,
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: but it is. Do you know what it is?
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: You know? I don't scarface scar face?
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: Yes? All right? Cool. Let's go to number two. The
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: first name is Brad Piet, the second name is Gary
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: old Man, the third name is Dennis Hopper. Number four
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: Patricia Arcuat, and the fifth and final name is Christian Slater.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: What I think I should know this for?
- 1:31:11Speaker 5: I feel like I should know.
- 1:31:13Speaker 3: Did you say the names again?
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman, Dennis Hopper, Patricia Arquett, and Christian Slater.
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: Hu.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: This movie was written by Quentin Tarantino, not directed by him.
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: It's called True Romance. Romance, True Romance. Not off to
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: a great start. Let's go to number three. The first
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: name is Austin Butler. Okay, the second name is Timothy Oliphant.
- 1:31:42Speaker 5: Once Nathan, Yes A Time in Hollywood.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: Boom, nicely done. Three names remaining, Nate, you were all over.
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: That just from the movie.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: Yeah, the three people that I would have named from
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: that movie. It's basically you can get mixed up.
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: To people there and they're both in it.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: They are both they are both in it, so pick
