- 0:11Speaker 1: Hi, this is Emma Caulfield and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:24Speaker 2: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:26Speaker 2: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:30Speaker 2: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:42Speaker 3: It's showtime, folks.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Enjoy the show.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Our nuclear reactor, pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:19Speaker 3: We forgot the first rule of remakes, Jill.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Don't fuck with the original.
- 1:36Speaker 5: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:38Speaker 3: I'm Brian. I'm Gina.
- 1:41Speaker 4: And I'm Paul.
- 1:42Speaker 3: And we're back.
- 1:43Speaker 5: For another amazing episode.
- 1:46Speaker 3: You guys didn't email in fast enough and tell me,
- 1:48Speaker 3: for the love of God, no, not those two.
- 1:50Speaker 5: And yet, here they are.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I know. It all falls on your shoulders.
- 1:55Speaker 1: It's our fault.
- 1:57Speaker 5: It's your fault, listener.
- 2:00Speaker 3: So, once again, we're coming to you live via digital recording.
- 2:04Speaker 5: From, what's the name of this place?
- 2:06Speaker 3: My Kitchen.
- 2:07Speaker 5: That's not a cool name at all.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It's totally cool. It's artisanal. It's small batch.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 2:12Speaker 1: You're one of those people. It's my artisanal small-batch room
- 2:15Speaker 1: in my house.
- 2:16Speaker 3: The time travel kitchen.
- 2:18Speaker 5: Can we?
- 2:19Speaker 1: So Doctor Who.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Well, can we? Because I've got some.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I mean, most of them just go back to yesterday
- 2:25Speaker 3: and get the Powerball numbers, but... But essentially.
- 2:28Speaker 5: There's some other stuff I want to do, too.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Everything we are discussing is about the past.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Or the future.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Oh, potential future.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Or is it?
- 2:38Speaker 3: Everything is the potential future.
- 2:41Speaker 6: Well, except for things that are already set in stone
- 2:44Speaker 6: with contract, just not completed.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But in the multiverse contract law.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Anyway, so this week we've decided we were coming up
- 2:55Speaker 3: with different ideas and we were throwing a lot of
- 2:58Speaker 3: them at the wall and they just bounced onto the floor.
- 3:00Speaker 3: And eventually we came up with one and I went, wait, wait, wait,
- 3:03Speaker 3: that's got potential. We can run with that. Let's do
- 3:06Speaker 3: something different this week.
- 3:07Speaker 5: So... Here's the.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Very general idea that we're going to bullshit with. There's
- 3:16Speaker 3: a lot of things that are remade, rebooted, re-whatever the
- 3:21Speaker 3: studio wants to call it this month. So, and all
- 3:25Speaker 3: of my feelings on this actually has happened over the
- 3:28Speaker 3: course of this show, which is kind of interesting. Because
- 3:32Speaker 3: in the beginning, everybody on the show was just.
- 3:34Speaker 5: So anti-remakes and like, Oh, God, no, another one.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And as time went on, I got to where I
- 3:41Speaker 3: was like, you know, if they can do something good
- 3:43Speaker 3: with it, who cares? Like, let's not be quite so
- 3:46Speaker 3: precious about it. Let's just, as long as you do
- 3:48Speaker 3: it well.
- 3:49Speaker 5: It's how they do it. It's how they do it
- 3:51Speaker 5: is a different story. So I don't condemn anything that's
- 3:57Speaker 5: just a general, like, remake idea at this point, but.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Sometimes they seem like a terrible idea. Sometimes there's some
- 4:04Speaker 3: terrible choices that get thrown in the mix. And that's
- 4:07Speaker 3: kind of where this came from. We were like, okay,
- 4:09Speaker 3: what if we pick some movies, some classics, some that
- 4:14Speaker 3: may never need to be remade, which I don't know
- 4:17Speaker 3: if any of them are so holy they can't be remade,
- 4:20Speaker 3: but some probably do need to be remade. So we're
- 4:23Speaker 3: going to throw out a lot of titles. And then
- 4:25Speaker 3: we're like, well, we'll figure out the best scenario.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Of how we could redo it or reboot it.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Or maybe the worst case scenario. We're just going to
- 4:33Speaker 3: throw out a lot of ideas. And then I also decided, okay,
- 4:37Speaker 3: as we get into casting, I found this weird, the
- 4:41Speaker 3: internet's full of weird things, this thing that will randomly
- 4:44Speaker 3: generate celebrities. So we're going to do the first round
- 4:47Speaker 3: of casting with whatever random celebrities it pulls up and
- 4:50Speaker 3: then talk it out from there.
- 4:52Speaker 5: So Where would we like to begin? Do you have
- 4:56Speaker 5: a film title you'd like to start with?
- 4:58Speaker 3: I think as host, you have to kick it off
- 5:01Speaker 3: with yours. All right. With something.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Wait, I just want to pitch an idea real quick
- 5:06Speaker 1: because it just occurred to me.
- 5:07Speaker 3: So you're going to do it.
- 5:08Speaker 1: No, I just want to get this joke in because
- 5:10Speaker 1: it's good. I want to make a reboot of Das Boot,
- 5:14Speaker 1: but call it Das Reboot. And done.
- 5:19Speaker 3: You guys hear the crickets?
- 5:22Speaker 1: That was good.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Crickets. I liked it.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Das Reboot.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I liked the film. Does it warrant a reboot?
- 5:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Probably not, but do you think?
- 5:37Speaker 1: It could be a Pixar thing about like a submarine sandwich.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Das Reboot the sequel. Well, now what if it was
- 5:43Speaker 3: like a submarine- Okay, we're going to go like Pixar.
- 5:47Speaker 3: It's going to be animated. It's about a submarine, but
- 5:50Speaker 3: it's all run by an anamorphic boot.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Sandwiches?
- 5:54Speaker 3: So there's actually boots running the submarine.
- 5:58Speaker 5: Das Boot.
- 6:01Speaker 3: This is how this is going to go, people.
- 6:03Speaker 6: Or it's a movie about a crew of submariners who
- 6:08Speaker 6: are also cobblers.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Anyway, I totally got us off topic.
- 6:12Speaker 5: That's not bad either.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Like a side business in.
- 6:14Speaker 1: The bottom of the stuff. Like a Keebler and all
- 6:16Speaker 1: secretly like.
- 6:17Speaker 3: They're hard at work. Oh, we need to stop making
- 6:20Speaker 3: boots so we can launch a torpedo.
- 6:21Speaker 1: No, quit hammering on that boot because that torpedo is
- 6:24Speaker 1: going to hit us. They know where we are.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Well, we don't have.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Das Destroyer.
- 6:28Speaker 3: We don't have an anvil. So instead of hammering on
- 6:31Speaker 3: the anvil, we're just going to use this missile. Is
- 6:33Speaker 3: that cool?
- 6:34Speaker 2: Ding, ding.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I totally agree. Waylaid this whole thing. Go.
- 6:39Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 6:39Speaker 3: That's how we kicked it off.
- 6:41Speaker 5: Das Boot. Das Reboot. Starring Boots.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:44Speaker 2: All right.
- 6:46Speaker 3: I've got a lot of, again, most people would consider classics,
- 6:50Speaker 3: so let's go with what, as of recently, got bumped
- 6:56Speaker 3: up to the arguably best picture. I think it was
- 7:00Speaker 3: Sight and Sound put it at the top of the
- 7:01Speaker 3: list a couple of years ago. Too much... response from
- 7:06Speaker 3: the internet. Vertigo. So, if we're going to recast Vertigo...
- 7:13Speaker 3: Wait a minute. Before you get into recasting....
- 7:17Speaker 5: I also.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I have a list of my don'ts and do's and.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Rear Window shows up as one of my don'ts. And
- 7:28Speaker 6: I was thinking probably any Hitchcock film should not be redone.
- 7:33Speaker 3: And yet they kind of keep doing it. I mean,
- 7:35Speaker 3: first of all, we already had Rear Window. First off,
- 7:37Speaker 3: a straight up remake with Christopher Reeve. We've had a
- 7:41Speaker 3: pretty much ripped off, including a lawsuit reboot with Disturbia.
- 7:48Speaker 3: All of which were regrettable, I think.
- 7:51Speaker 5: I still haven't watched the Christopher Reeve one.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I want to just because of what it is. I
- 7:56Speaker 3: kind of want to see what he was doing at
- 7:57Speaker 3: that point in his life.
- 7:59Speaker 1: It's like It's a Wonderful Life, right? That's also on
- 8:02Speaker 1: my list.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Don't worry, we'll get to it.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I'm not even a huge fan of that film.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Which one?
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's a Wonderful Life.
- 8:09Speaker 5: That's blasphemy right there.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I don't think it needs to be remade.
- 8:12Speaker 5: It's great.
- 8:13Speaker 1: As it is, it's perfect. And I don't even love
- 8:15Speaker 1: it like You all do, for some bizarre reason.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Just wait until we recast.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Jimmy Stewart fan girls.
- 8:20Speaker 3: So Vertigo, you think can be redone or can't be redone?
- 8:25Speaker 3: Once again, I mean, it's already kind of been ripped
- 8:28Speaker 3: off so many times, so there is a way to
- 8:31Speaker 3: do it, not necessarily. This was one I've just rewatched
- 8:36Speaker 3: in the last year, brought up on the show, but
- 8:38Speaker 3: have you ever seen Body Double? Because Body Double.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Brian Bogdanovich?
- 8:43Speaker 1: Isn't that an old.
- 8:45Speaker 3: It's De Palma. Brian De Palma. It's De Palma back
- 8:50Speaker 3: in the middle there when he kind of had a
- 8:53Speaker 3: budget and was sort of just starting to get to
- 8:56Speaker 3: that level. He got out of his little super indie projects.
- 8:59Speaker 3: He's starting to pull people in. Early, early Melanie Griffith. Basically,
- 9:04Speaker 3: it's taking two different Hitchcock movies and jamming them together.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Very blatantly. I don't think he was hiding it. It
- 9:12Speaker 3: is his homage to hitchcock so he takes rear window
- 9:17Speaker 3: and vertigo and kind of forces them into one plot
- 9:22Speaker 3: and it's not bad like it it works in its
- 9:25Speaker 3: own weird way if you have to acknowledge that he's
- 9:28Speaker 3: very heavily lifting from another artist but like in general
- 9:33Speaker 3: it's like you can do it it's a functional plot
- 9:36Speaker 3: so it's like you can see other movies already kind
- 9:39Speaker 3: of stealing from this anyway so Do.
- 9:42Speaker 5: I think it can be done?
- 9:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure it can.
- 9:44Speaker 6: No.
- 9:44Speaker 3: You don't think Gone Girl?
- 9:48Speaker 5: That's, again, I think there's elements of that.
- 9:51Speaker 3: It's got its own weird twists along the way, but
- 9:54Speaker 3: there's definitely a little bit of that thrown in there.
- 9:57Speaker 3: So if you were going to make the worst version
- 9:59Speaker 3: of vertigo.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Um, let's, let's see what the, uh, the old computer
- 10:04Speaker 5: says for casting.
- 10:06Speaker 3: We'll do, I think it brings up both genders. So
- 10:09Speaker 3: let's do male and female lead on this.
- 10:11Speaker 5: All right. So I can see this. It says Bradley Cooper.
- 10:21Speaker 3: See him being male lead in just about any hollywood
- 10:23Speaker 3: movie at this point so again some of these i'm
- 10:25Speaker 3: gonna go with not necessarily like what i want but
- 10:28Speaker 3: i'm just like would i see hollywood throwing projects at
- 10:30Speaker 3: these people and then it's got a couple of here
- 10:34Speaker 3: um actually i can see natalie portman.
- 10:40Speaker 7: I don't know that it would work, but I can
- 10:44Speaker 7: kind of see her being the weird distant girl that
- 10:48Speaker 7: he's following around all the time.
- 10:50Speaker 3: A faithful remake of Vertigo. I could support that cast, actually.
- 10:55Speaker 1: That's not terrible.
- 10:56Speaker 3: The computer's not that wrong this time.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Try it again. Tempt Fate, I'm curious.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Well, we have other alternate options. It also brought up, okay,
- 11:03Speaker 3: if you want to go the wrong way, it brought
- 11:05Speaker 3: up Brendan Fraser. Yes.
- 11:08Speaker 5: If we want to do the wrong way, and let's
- 11:09Speaker 5: bring up.
- 11:10Speaker 1: A wrong, and.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Taylor Swift. So this is going to be great, this.
- 11:16Speaker 3: New recast version. Brendan Fraser could be good.
- 11:19Speaker 1: No, no. He's never good.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I don't hate the guy, but I just don't really
- 11:24Speaker 3: like him in stuff.
- 11:24Speaker 5: He would be believable as.
- 11:26Speaker 6: A, you know, in a Jimmy Stewart type of character,
- 11:33Speaker 6: you know?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Like, you know, he's just so sweet, even though he's
- 11:38Speaker 3: not intended to be.
- 11:39Speaker 1: No, that's like a Chris Pratt kind of thing.
- 11:41Speaker 3: No, it's not.
- 11:42Speaker 5: Yeah, it is.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Chris Pratt is like the new everyman.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Well, yes. I mean, he kind of is, but.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I don't know. Is he playing it more of Parks
- 11:54Speaker 3: and Rec Christmas?
- 11:55Speaker 1: Like Mouse Rat is how I always think of him.
- 11:57Speaker 5: He's just kind of dim-witted the whole time. Mouse Rat.
- 11:59Speaker 3: That's why I can't figure out what's going on with
- 12:01Speaker 3: this girl. He's just not very smart.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 12:05Speaker 6: I can't see him as anything else in anything I've
- 12:08Speaker 6: seen him in. Even when I was watching Guardians of
- 12:11Speaker 6: the Galaxy, I was seeing him falling.
- 12:12Speaker 5: In a hole.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I was like, where's Janet Snakehole?
- 12:15Speaker 3: I finally have. I think he's enough of a different
- 12:19Speaker 3: character in Guardians that I buy him as that guy.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:24Speaker 3: It did take a while, though. I saw him a
- 12:26Speaker 3: few other times.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Oh, my God. It took a little while.
- 12:28Speaker 3: That whole Jurassic Park business?
- 12:32Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 12:32Speaker 3: That's not his fault, really. There's other issues there.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I like him. He is the new everyman. He's the
- 12:38Speaker 1: new Tom Hanks.
- 12:40Speaker 3: I'm not saying I dislike him.
- 12:43Speaker 1: He's good. He's a good actor on top of it all.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I think he's okay.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I don't want to totally veer off, but there's one
- 12:48Speaker 3: I was going to get to anyway. Because this is
- 12:52Speaker 3: throwing back to last week, we kept talking about Indiana Jones,
- 12:56Speaker 3: Indiana Jones. That's the name that they throw out there now.
- 12:59Speaker 3: And I'm like, I don't.
- 13:00Speaker 5: Hate that, really.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I could live with it. Chris Pratt is Indiana Jones.
- 13:03Speaker 3: He's pretty damn likable.
- 13:04Speaker 5: I mean, if anybody's got enough charisma to.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Come near to their size.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And he can.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Pull off the scruff. The scruff. You gotta have the scruff.
- 13:12Speaker 3: But he doesn't have the.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Because he's the everyman, there's nothing dangerous about him. Like,
- 13:20Speaker 1: there's still something kind of shitty and dangerous about Harrison Ford.
- 13:23Speaker 3: He could be. I feel like Guardians, you buy a
- 13:27Speaker 3: little of that. Even Jurassic Park, dude, he doesn't have
- 13:29Speaker 3: anything to do, but like.
- 13:30Speaker 1: No, like Guardians, the character, he was like so guarded.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I hate to use that twice in a sentence, but
- 13:37Speaker 1: it was more like that was his emotional whatever. Harrison
- 13:40Speaker 1: Ford as Indiana Jones is just like a swaggering dickhead.
- 13:44Speaker 8: You know? I mean.
- 13:46Speaker 1: A lovable swagger he did. Not that I didn't love it.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I mean, that's like, you know, my childhood... But.
- 13:51Speaker 3: He's pretty lovable in his own weird way. Especially like.
- 13:56Speaker 5: I don't know. There's something about that Raiders.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, he's great. But he's more dangerous than
- 14:02Speaker 1: a Chris Pratt.
- 14:02Speaker 3: It depends on how the script is written, to be honest.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Because I think he can pull off any of the.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Any of the.
- 14:11Speaker 6: Dialogue that Harrison Ford did for any of the previous movies,
- 14:15Speaker 6: he could certainly have done and pulled it off.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Which is a rough thing. Because I remember for years,
- 14:21Speaker 3: I kept like, people kept throwing it out and we
- 14:23Speaker 3: need to bring in all the, and they kept naming people.
- 14:25Speaker 5: And I'm like, no, no. Yeah.
- 14:27Speaker 1: There were so many that wouldn't work, but he would work.
- 14:29Speaker 3: That's one of the first times I was like, you know,
- 14:32Speaker 3: I don't hate it. Like it could go horribly wrong, but.
- 14:36Speaker 1: It's not the worst idea. He could pull it off.
- 14:38Speaker 5: It's true.
- 14:39Speaker 1: But from the women's perspective, he's just not as hot
- 14:42Speaker 1: as a young... Well, I mean... 30-something Harrison Ford.
- 14:45Speaker 3: It's hard for anything to get close. Like Empire era
- 14:49Speaker 3: of Harrison Ford? Yeah, I know.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Shit. I know.
- 14:52Speaker 3: I look at him and go, God damn, he's pretty.
- 14:55Speaker 3: So it's really hard for anybody to get close to that.
- 15:00Speaker 3: It's true.
- 15:01Speaker 4: It is.
- 15:02Speaker 3: All right, I've got one. Okay.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I'll ready the back computer.
- 15:06Speaker 3: And I'll throw it up as a... as a remake
- 15:11Speaker 3: it or don't remake it.
- 15:12Speaker 2: All right.
- 15:13Speaker 5: We can play that game along the way too. I'm
- 15:16Speaker 5: sure we will.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I kind of have one of those too, but
- 15:18Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 15:19Speaker 5: Sorry.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I'll keep interrupting. Office space.
- 15:22Speaker 1: What?
- 15:25Speaker 3: See, that's the thing. I was trying, I was like,
- 15:27Speaker 3: I feel like I should throw more modern stuff on there,
- 15:29Speaker 3: which not that that's not really old because it kind
- 15:32Speaker 3: of is for the kids out there.
- 15:34Speaker 5: It is pretty old. Here's the reason why I list it.
- 15:37Speaker 6: I have it in my don't category, but it could
- 15:41Speaker 6: easily be in the do category because there's so many
- 15:45Speaker 6: things about that movie that is very dated because it's
- 15:49Speaker 6: about office technology, right? So, and I think, but the
- 15:54Speaker 6: core story is still true.
- 15:57Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 15:57Speaker 3: So you could modernize it and it could still be good.
- 16:01Speaker 5: That red swing line will never go away.
- 16:04Speaker 3: That will always be the holy grail of any office,
- 16:07Speaker 3: I mean.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 16:09Speaker 1: God, that's a hard one to think about recasting, though. Oh,
- 16:12Speaker 1: you got something? You look like you got something.
- 16:14Speaker 3: No, I don't. Let's go to the back computer.
- 16:16Speaker 6: Because all of those, the guys that did that movie
- 16:20Speaker 6: are still alive, I believe.
- 16:22Speaker 3: What's sad is, yeah, that's probably, again, if we're putting
- 16:26Speaker 3: it in Hollywood's hands, it's probably going to have Seth
- 16:29Speaker 3: Rogen in it.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Damn it. Wait, and the other guy. Okay, which? What's
- 16:35Speaker 1: his face? The short, Short kid.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Okay, wait. It brought up another one and I was like,
- 16:44Speaker 3: that doesn't fit in. And I'm like, no, no way.
- 16:46Speaker 3: The dickhead boss guy that's like, yeah. Okay. Ellen DeGeneres.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Now, if we switch the gender.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Role and I'm like, you know, I can kind of
- 16:57Speaker 3: see her being kind of a jerk. Like, that's entertaining.
- 17:01Speaker 1: But once again, so charming. Which would actually be funnier.
- 17:06Speaker 1: That could be great.
- 17:07Speaker 3: That could work.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Interesting.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Maybe this is how all these remakes happen.
- 17:11Speaker 3: If Hollywood would like to go ahead and just bring
- 17:13Speaker 3: us on board.
- 17:14Speaker 1: They just get a random generator and they're like, we're
- 17:16Speaker 1: just gonna make that.
- 17:17Speaker 5: The mayor of Hollywood would just go.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Ahead and fly us out. Well, as we have long suspected,
- 17:21Speaker 3: they get a group of 12-year-olds together.
- 17:23Speaker 5: Which is us.
- 17:24Speaker 3: And they start.
- 17:26Speaker 6: typing things and drawing random crayons and then things.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Happen they go to an olive garden where they can
- 17:35Speaker 1: write on the tablecloth yeah that's not a bad.
- 17:37Speaker 6: Idea you know what we need to do billy is.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Can you write on the tablecloth at olive garden do
- 17:44Speaker 1: i have.
- 17:44Speaker 3: That mistaken they do i mean they always write their
- 17:48Speaker 3: name hi i'll be your waiter i think one day.
- 17:51Speaker 1: One day we went there like We had a really
- 17:53Speaker 1: bad hankering for a salad, and we ended up there
- 17:56Speaker 1: because we were like, let's get a big salad.
- 17:59Speaker 3: I hate that place.
- 18:01Speaker 1: It's like the blue boar of Italian food. It's not Italian.
- 18:05Speaker 3: It's just.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Says the Italian at the table.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I hope you're not hoping for advertising dollars from.
- 18:09Speaker 5: You've killed our.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Olive Garden budget.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Olive Garden.
- 18:12Speaker 3: We drink their wine.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Damn it. So anyway, yeah, who else.
- 18:16Speaker 5: So who else do you need to work in the office?
- 18:19Speaker 5: Do you have.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Other entries, or do I keep going? Who would be
- 18:22Speaker 3: the girl? Oh, the love interest?
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah, the love interest.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Like the Jennifer Aniston girl?
- 18:28Speaker 4: Yes.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Okay. Who must love Kung Fu because that's still applicable,
- 18:33Speaker 3: I think.
- 18:33Speaker 5: Do you want to search for another girl on the
- 18:35Speaker 5: back computer here?
- 18:37Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but let's think.
- 18:40Speaker 3: All right, not bad.
- 18:42Speaker 5: Anne Hathaway.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Oh.
- 18:46Speaker 3: I can see. Because again, I feel like Jennifer Aniston
- 18:50Speaker 3: wasn't right for that and somehow she made it work.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Because at that point I was like, ah, what is
- 18:55Speaker 3: she doing in this? And then it kind of works okay.
- 18:57Speaker 3: So I'm like... She worked at... What was it? Tchotchkes?
- 19:03Speaker 1: That's a great.
- 19:04Speaker 3: That's where we should be.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Deli concept. Tchotchkes. It just has a bunch of tchotchkes
- 19:09Speaker 1: on the wall.
- 19:10Speaker 5: Joni loves tchotchkes. Ah, rest in peace, Erin.
- 19:13Speaker 3: We're sorry.
- 19:15Speaker 6: Which, I just found this out, and I'm surprised it
- 19:19Speaker 6: took me several days to discover this, but she died
- 19:22Speaker 6: in Cordon.
- 19:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:23Speaker 3: It was on the news. How did you miss it? Well,
- 19:26Speaker 3: I just saw the headline and I thought, oh, yeah.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Were you like, Scott County, heroin?
- 19:32Speaker 8: No.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Well, I mean, it's not like she hadn't had some
- 19:36Speaker 5: drug issues.
- 19:37Speaker 3: So I was kind of like, well, I mean, at
- 19:39Speaker 3: least she didn't fall back into that. So I guess
- 19:41Speaker 3: that's an upside to it all. Well, anyway.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Tangent.
- 19:48Speaker 6: I mean, if you're going to do Anne Hathaway, then
- 19:50Speaker 6: you might as well throw out Reba McEntire.
- 19:53Speaker 2: What?
- 19:54Speaker 1: How are the two even close?
- 19:55Speaker 5: How does that move?
- 19:56Speaker 6: I don't see how Anne Hathaway is the love interest for.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Reba McEntire. Well, I'm just saying, it doesn't fit for me.
- 20:09Speaker 3: That's the random part of it, truthfully.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Well, who would you, I mean, who do you say?
- 20:15Speaker 3: We're looking for like another Jennifer Aniston. Well, essentially.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Oh my God, then I got it. The chick from
- 20:23Speaker 1: that show that I hate that's on all the time. Oh.
- 20:27Speaker 3: The one?
- 20:27Speaker 5: Yes.
- 20:29Speaker 6: Katie Kukula from Big Bang Theory.
- 20:32Speaker 1: How did you know?
- 20:34Speaker 3: Because it's on all the time. Oh, I've bitched about
- 20:37Speaker 3: that show enough over the years.
- 20:38Speaker 5: But she's perfect for that.
- 20:39Speaker 1: That's fine. See, that's the thing.
- 20:40Speaker 3: She's actually the, like, bright spot in that show.
- 20:42Speaker 1: She is.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Because, like, there's so much stuff about that show I
- 20:44Speaker 3: don't like, but I'm like, she is funny.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Yeah, she's good. But, I mean, that's a good, good,
- 20:49Speaker 1: it's not that I hate her, it's that I hate
- 20:51Speaker 1: that show.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I mean, truthfully, at that point, they just recast all
- 20:54Speaker 3: of Office Space with the guys from that show. Well,
- 20:56Speaker 3: that would kind of work.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Like, they all could do that.
- 20:57Speaker 3: I mean, it kind of, yeah, as much as I'm
- 20:59Speaker 3: not thrilled with several of them, I'm like, eh, it
- 21:02Speaker 3: would kind of work. That works.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Oh, here's a whole other topic. Doing recasting, but, like,
- 21:07Speaker 1: movies for television shows.
- 21:08Speaker 6: That's great.
- 21:09Speaker 5: Or vice versa.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Or television shows.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I mean, they both kind of... Movie versions of television shows?
- 21:14Speaker 1: Well, no. I mean, who would you cast in a
- 21:16Speaker 1: television series to a movie?
- 21:19Speaker 3: The fact that they're doing that so often now. They're
- 21:21Speaker 3: taking a movie concept and then shoving it into a
- 21:25Speaker 3: multi-week TV.
- 21:26Speaker 1: But I like that better. It's like things that you
- 21:28Speaker 1: find on the BBC where it's like it has a
- 21:30Speaker 1: beginning and it has an end and it's good and
- 21:32Speaker 1: it ends.
- 21:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:34Speaker 3: It can go the other way and that's what I
- 21:36Speaker 3: keep saying with some of like everything because the series
- 21:39Speaker 3: is now such a cool hip thing it's not cool
- 21:42Speaker 3: it's just better but sometimes they're jamming things into the
- 21:46Speaker 3: series format that don't have that much story because there's
- 21:49Speaker 3: two or three I tuned out on now because I'm
- 21:51Speaker 3: like you guys are dragging your feet so much well
- 21:54Speaker 3: but that's yeah but and that's what I'm saying like
- 21:57Speaker 3: if you you've got a great two hour movie here
- 22:00Speaker 3: instead you made a twelve hour series that you do
- 22:04Speaker 3: not have enough material to fill all this.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, there's... I think it can go wrong.
- 22:08Speaker 5: The other way.
- 22:08Speaker 3: Yeah, like, what's the show that... Damn it. It's relatively new,
- 22:15Speaker 3: and we watched the first season of it, the... You know,
- 22:19Speaker 3: a little grim.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 3: It's like, why the hell did they keep going?
- 22:25Speaker 5: Yeah, the first season was.
- 22:26Speaker 3: A great little... Because it was making money? Of course.
- 22:29Speaker 3: And that's the only reason. They got advertising. It didn't
- 22:31Speaker 3: keep going because they still had story. No. It turned
- 22:34Speaker 3: into a soap opera. But that was one of those, like,
- 22:36Speaker 3: it is a good concept. Yeah, I thought it was
- 22:39Speaker 3: really interesting. It had potential.
- 22:41Speaker 1: The first season was really clever and interesting. You were like,
- 22:44Speaker 1: oh my gosh, that's really kind of cool. And then
- 22:46Speaker 1: it was just like.
- 22:47Speaker 3: but if something especially genre based because your fan base
- 22:50Speaker 3: is there and they're not going anywhere because I think
- 22:52Speaker 3: that I mean basically they were trying to do like
- 22:54Speaker 3: a network a bigger NBC kind of network version of
- 22:59Speaker 3: what Supernatural was doing basically because Supernatural just hit and
- 23:04Speaker 3: like you could never have imagined that like 28 years
- 23:08Speaker 3: later that show is still on the air and it feels.
- 23:10Speaker 5: Like it and I'm just like is it still on?
- 23:12Speaker 3: Yeah it's still on right now that's what I'm saying
- 23:14Speaker 3: like and they're still yeah and they've still drug out
- 23:18Speaker 3: new plot lines and the days of our lives of
- 23:21Speaker 3: fantasy i'm not knocking it but i'm just like it's
- 23:23Speaker 3: amazing to think that you could come up with any
- 23:26Speaker 3: kind of plot line that would still be going on
- 23:28Speaker 3: this many years in that like especially in a weird
- 23:32Speaker 3: genre like you have to kind of stick to this
- 23:35Speaker 3: you know genre area that like that's so yeah the
- 23:38Speaker 3: fact that grim ran out as quickly as it did
- 23:40Speaker 3: i guess doesn't surprise me really so i think it's
- 23:42Speaker 3: good like I think that's what's kind of cool about
- 23:45Speaker 3: the new scenario now is like, you can kind of pick,
- 23:48Speaker 3: you can cap it off like old sitcoms. It's like, okay,
- 23:51Speaker 3: we're just going to keep making them forever. So it's
- 23:53Speaker 3: like nine, 10 seasons out. Like you keep feeding it
- 23:57Speaker 3: because it's paying everybody's bills. But like now when you
- 24:00Speaker 3: can do like a Netflix series and be like, okay,
- 24:02Speaker 3: we've got 12 episodes to tell this story. We're not
- 24:04Speaker 3: necessarily coming back to do this again. So let's write
- 24:08Speaker 3: a story.
- 24:08Speaker 1: And that's the thing.
- 24:09Speaker 5: If you have a story that works for 12 hours
- 24:12Speaker 5: or however long you're going to make this, like, You
- 24:14Speaker 5: can plan it ahead and you can actually do that.
- 24:15Speaker 4: And I would.
- 24:16Speaker 6: Imagine that it's because that so many people have stated
- 24:21Speaker 6: very plainly, you know, hey, BBC is doing this correctly.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Because people have said for years, oh my God, why
- 24:28Speaker 1: can't a story just end and just move on? There's
- 24:30Speaker 1: plenty of other good stories to be told.
- 24:32Speaker 3: And they've done it successfully. Yeah, and they've even.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Done shorter stuff. Like, I mean, I love May Day
- 24:36Speaker 1: and that was like how many... Yeah, it was like
- 24:38Speaker 1: five episodes.
- 24:39Speaker 3: See, that's the thing. I think we want to find
- 24:41Speaker 3: that golden mean area there. We all get frustrated when
- 24:47Speaker 3: it's a BBC show that we like and we're like,
- 24:49Speaker 3: why are there only two series?
- 24:51Speaker 5: Which means we have no episodes.
- 24:53Speaker 3: This sucks. But we look at an American show that
- 24:55Speaker 3: runs for 12 years and we're just like, oh my God,
- 24:57Speaker 3: you guys beat this horse to death. So we kind
- 24:59Speaker 3: of want to find that middle ground where it's like
- 25:01Speaker 3: we don't want it to be over immediately, but we
- 25:05Speaker 3: need to be able to cap it.
- 25:06Speaker 6: This isn't on our topic, but I always felt that
- 25:11Speaker 6: Doctor Strange and Mr. Norrell series that the BBC did.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Was so good, and I was so upset when it
- 25:19Speaker 3: came to a close. But that was such a good feeling,
- 25:21Speaker 3: because you were like, oh!
- 25:24Speaker 6: You're like, oh, it could just keep going because the
- 25:26Speaker 6: acting was so good and the writing was so good.
- 25:29Speaker 3: But anyway, so it's your turn to list it.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Okay, so I suffer the same thing as you. I
- 25:35Speaker 1: feel like I should mention something new. How about Spider-Man?
- 25:38Speaker 1: It's a joke because that doesn't happen.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Superman?
- 25:41Speaker 1: How many more of those do we need?
- 25:42Speaker 5: Spiders?
- 25:43Speaker 1: But what I was going to say is my real
- 25:46Speaker 1: one is... Spat-Man. And I can kind of say that
- 25:50Speaker 1: there was sort of a remake of this eventually, but
- 25:54Speaker 1: there needs to be a new one, and it kind
- 25:55Speaker 1: of leads me to that could also be remade. Murder
- 25:58Speaker 1: by Death.
- 25:59Speaker 5: All right.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Which is like one of my all-time favorite movies. And
- 26:04Speaker 1: then Clue, which is like Murder by Death under the
- 26:07Speaker 1: guise of a board game.
- 26:09Speaker 3: That's coming... Well, that... Big concept is coming back. You
- 26:12Speaker 3: do know they're doing, this year, they're doing.
- 26:15Speaker 5: A big budget, like, super A-list stars version of Murder
- 26:20Speaker 5: on the Orient Express.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Which sounds, like, the more I hear about it,
- 26:24Speaker 3: sounds cool.
- 26:25Speaker 1: It's kind of a cool idea.
- 26:25Speaker 3: And I think it's, I think it's Kenneth Branagh. So
- 26:29Speaker 3: I'm like, I feel like he's a stylish dude.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, but that would be cool.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Like, if he's gonna do an old school kind of director.
- 26:35Speaker 1: To do it, like, that's... That'd be a good Guy
- 26:36Speaker 1: Ritchie one, though. Oh, God. I'm sorry, I can't help it.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I do like Guy Ritchie.
- 26:40Speaker 5: This ain't your grandpa's murder on the Orient Express.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Murder by Death is so funny and has so many
- 26:48Speaker 1: great parts and great characters and really Clue kind of
- 26:50Speaker 1: riffed off of that, I think.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Definitely.
- 26:52Speaker 1: But that should totally be a remake. I mean, that
- 26:55Speaker 1: was great. Peter Sellers in that was phenomenal.
- 26:57Speaker 3: This is one of those that, like, it becomes that
- 26:59Speaker 3: weird generational thing. Because at the time, like, I remember
- 27:04Speaker 3: Clue falling on its face. But, yeah. And, like, so
- 27:07Speaker 3: at the time, I was just like, oh, well, that
- 27:09Speaker 3: didn't work.
- 27:10Speaker 2: And I saw it.
- 27:10Speaker 3: I actually loved it because I thought it was really funny.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I liked it.
- 27:12Speaker 3: But, again, I think I just honed in on Tim Curry,
- 27:15Speaker 3: who is fucking amazing in that movie. He was amazing.
- 27:17Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 3: And, like, the rest of the cast is great. But, like,
- 27:19Speaker 3: you can't, like, you can't compete with.
- 27:20Speaker 1: That's like a, yeah, I mean, you can't compete with
- 27:22Speaker 1: Tim Curry.
- 27:22Speaker 3: When Tim Curry's at the top of his game, like,
- 27:24Speaker 3: you cannot even.
- 27:25Speaker 1: No, I mean, he is wonderful.
- 27:26Speaker 5: He's amazing.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Like he's fantastic.
- 27:29Speaker 5: But i remember like heckable timing.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Yeah it died and nobody liked it and it was
- 27:33Speaker 3: kind of a joke and nobody cared for like 10
- 27:35Speaker 3: years and then it's like the 90s kids came along
- 27:39Speaker 3: and it was on cable and like it's funny that
- 27:41Speaker 3: now that those kids have grown up they do treat
- 27:43Speaker 3: it like it's a classic yeah and i'm like but
- 27:46Speaker 3: nobody cared when it came.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Out like i gotta tell you it's a second wave
- 27:50Speaker 1: i loved it because i thought it was so like
- 27:52Speaker 1: odd again there's.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Those like us that liked it originally but.
- 27:56Speaker 1: It was like fantastic i mean i know that movie
- 27:58Speaker 1: back and backwards but that's.
- 27:59Speaker 3: What i think is weird is that like those kids
- 28:02Speaker 3: missed that wave like they didn't know that they were
- 28:04Speaker 3: the oddballs that liked it at the time like we
- 28:06Speaker 3: did so then it just became like a thing that
- 28:09Speaker 3: they watched when they were kids and like they saw
- 28:11Speaker 3: it all the time and it was normal and then
- 28:13Speaker 3: they all just assumed it was a classic oh that's
- 28:16Speaker 3: a great movie and like Nobody else thinks that.
- 28:19Speaker 1: It's just this weird little window of kids that grew
- 28:21Speaker 1: up watching it. And that's my removal of Murder by
- 28:23Speaker 1: Death because that precedes us, for sure. And just seeing
- 28:26Speaker 1: it in passing so many times on television and being like,
- 28:29Speaker 1: what is this? And to me, it became just this
- 28:32Speaker 1: normal classic.
- 28:34Speaker 6: I think we said this last week, but that was
- 28:38Speaker 6: what happened with almost all of the canon films.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Of the 80s.
- 28:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 6: Like the bad Hercules and stuff like that.
- 28:45Speaker 3: And you grew up thinking... Oh, I saw that because
- 28:49Speaker 3: it was licensed for cable. And you saw it a
- 28:52Speaker 3: thousand times. Those were all great movies. Yeah, it was
- 28:57Speaker 3: so hokey.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Wait, did they do FX? Because FX to this day
- 29:00Speaker 1: is a fantastic movie. And I think that was a canon.
- 29:03Speaker 5: Brian Dennehy.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, who would you randomly cast?
- 29:08Speaker 5: Give us a random.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Because honestly, I don't have anybody picked out. So something old.
- 29:12Speaker 3: For Clue or.
- 29:13Speaker 1: No, for Murder by Death.
- 29:15Speaker 3: So are we just looking like Peter Sellers or we
- 29:18Speaker 3: just want a random group of people?
- 29:19Speaker 1: No, we can just do randomly who we think.
- 29:20Speaker 5: All right, if we're just doing.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Because this falls a little more into like... Because Clue
- 29:23Speaker 3: had a little stunt casting going on anyway.
- 29:25Speaker 5: Yeah. So this already had... Okay, this is pretty great.
- 29:29Speaker 3: The one that's already sitting here is Megan Fox, Victoria Beckham,
- 29:36Speaker 3: Ron Jeremy... That would be great. That would be great.
- 29:40Speaker 5: Keep going.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Wait, let's do another one here. Kate Moss, Macaulay Culkin,
- 29:45Speaker 3: James Earl Jones.
- 29:48Speaker 5: I would watch this movie.
- 29:50Speaker 3: It seems like a nightmare, but I would watch this movie.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Wait, then maybe you cast them in Clue as well.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Well.
- 29:56Speaker 5: Well, I mean, it's sort of interchangeable at this point.
- 29:59Speaker 6: I was thinking, you know, Out of that group of women,
- 30:03Speaker 6: which one would you cast to be the singing telegram
- 30:06Speaker 6: girl that gets shot?
- 30:09Speaker 3: That's when we bring in, we return to Taylor Swift
- 30:12Speaker 3: for her little cameo. Oh, never mind. Which we all
- 30:17Speaker 3: kind of just want to fire a bullet in the
- 30:19Speaker 3: dark at her, right?
- 30:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess maybe we're just trying to make a
- 30:22Speaker 1: clue at this point. But I do have to say
- 30:24Speaker 1: that I loved Murder by Death. How on walls speak.
- 30:28Speaker 3: But who do we get as Peter Sellers? Because that's
- 30:31Speaker 3: one of those that's like, he is sort of his
- 30:33Speaker 3: own thing. Or Tim Curry.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Well, oh, man.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Peter Sellers, Tim Curry.
- 30:37Speaker 1: You know, I was going to say Peter Sellers, who
- 30:39Speaker 1: I would pick, but then I couldn't because he played
- 30:41Speaker 1: Peter Sellers in the HBO thing. And the actor that
- 30:44Speaker 1: I was talking about that I love, Jeffrey Rush.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 30:47Speaker 1: But he was great.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Oh, all right.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Jeffrey Rush.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Okay, that's... But he played Peter Sellers, but he'd be
- 30:54Speaker 1: a good Tim Curry as well.
- 30:56Speaker 3: But he also can kind of do like weird, silly
- 31:00Speaker 3: stuff if need be.
- 31:01Speaker 5: Yeah, he's fantastic. Because like, wasn't he, um, wasn't he, uh,
- 31:08Speaker 5: Rikita Saha?
- 31:09Speaker 7: Oh and Quills that was a phenomenal film so he
- 31:12Speaker 7: can do crazy and then he's in like freaking pirates
- 31:16Speaker 7: movies so he'll do schlocky Quills was great I love Quills.
- 31:21Speaker 3: He's got that kind of mentality he can do weird stuff.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I think that and the Taylor of Panama both made
- 31:26Speaker 1: me go man I really like.
- 31:28Speaker 5: Him so that's not the worst casting for that role
- 31:31Speaker 5: I can see that but should it be done.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I have a hard time, yeah.
- 31:39Speaker 3: Again, I don't know if you need to nail down
- 31:41Speaker 3: either of those properties, but if you wanted to do another... Like, again,
- 31:46Speaker 3: they used to do that kind of stuff all the time.
- 31:48Speaker 3: The big Hollywood cast and all the superstars. The big
- 31:50Speaker 3: ensemble cast.
- 31:51Speaker 5: It'd be some sort of mystery or something.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Well, I mean, they still did it with that other...
- 31:56Speaker 1: It's a remake. Ocean's Eleven through 28, whatever.
- 32:00Speaker 5: Whatever on now.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Which is coming back again this year.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Except with women.
- 32:05Speaker 3: That's going to be our new game. As we recast everything,
- 32:08Speaker 3: we're like, well, let's put a bunch of women in it.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Yay! Game over.
- 32:12Speaker 5: Which is a weird thing.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Although I do like a lot of the cast of
- 32:15Speaker 3: this new Ocean, so I'm just like, well, I'll see it.
- 32:19Speaker 5: Who doesn't love Sandra Bullock?
- 32:21Speaker 3: So we're all in already.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Is Melissa McCarthy in it? I don't think so.
- 32:26Speaker 5: I don't think she's allowed in.
- 32:27Speaker 3: She's already been in one, and everybody bitched about it,
- 32:31Speaker 3: so they don't want to curse their project.
- 32:33Speaker 10: Ugh.
- 32:36Speaker 5: All right.
- 32:36Speaker 1: She's being it. That's who I'd cast.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I mean, I think she's amazing regardless, but if they're
- 32:43Speaker 3: not doing that kind of comedy.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Let's do the reboot of Das Boot with all women.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Das Reboot.
- 32:51Speaker 5: All those ladies stuck on a submarine together.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Shopping for shoes.
- 32:55Speaker 5: As a woman, I.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Can make that joke.
- 32:57Speaker 5: I was just thinking.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Well, no, I'm just thinking if you're going to go
- 32:59Speaker 3: the hardcore female route, think about all of you getting
- 33:04Speaker 3: in the same.
- 33:06Speaker 1: No, really.
- 33:06Speaker 3: I mean, you're stuck on that together. Eventually, somebody does
- 33:10Speaker 3: kill somebody. Oh, lady jokes. Cycles line up.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Lady cycle jokes. Yeah, well, what else will we remake
- 33:18Speaker 1: or not remake?
- 33:20Speaker 5: Well, we're round robining, so.
- 33:22Speaker 3: All right.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, obviously, I just had an intriguing concept,
- 33:26Speaker 1: but no real idea.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Not that this hasn't already been done in some form,
- 33:29Speaker 3: but even that's dated.
- 33:31Speaker 5: How about The Shining?
- 33:34Speaker 1: So then do you go novel story?
- 33:36Speaker 3: Because I've always said I, once again, and we were
- 33:39Speaker 3: making this comment before we started rolling here, I appreciate
- 33:43Speaker 3: how much he veers away from the novel to do
- 33:45Speaker 3: his own story and think... think it's a much tighter
- 33:50Speaker 3: cooler story as it stands the kubrick way so i
- 33:54Speaker 3: guess you can do either i mean the miniseries sticks
- 33:57Speaker 3: closer to the book so there's been a sort of
- 34:00Speaker 3: semi non-theatrical remake but i don't.
- 34:04Speaker 6: Think you can which which version either the kubrick the
- 34:10Speaker 6: kubrick again i think the kubrick one is so kubrick
- 34:13Speaker 6: that it would be really hard to do it.
- 34:14Speaker 5: You could do the general thing.
- 34:16Speaker 3: They always say is, we're going back to the source material.
- 34:18Speaker 3: That's what they always say when they.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Want to legitimize the reason for a remake.
- 34:22Speaker 3: It's so cult movie now. And it's beloved for the
- 34:28Speaker 3: other weird things going on that have nothing to do
- 34:30Speaker 3: with the plot. Right.
- 34:32Speaker 1: And that's all Kubrick.
- 34:33Speaker 6: There are people that have pulled that movie apart for
- 34:37Speaker 6: all of the.
- 34:38Speaker 1: It's like the Ulysses of movies. Yeah, I don't think you...
- 34:43Speaker 1: because part of the style of that movie... It's mostly style.
- 34:48Speaker 8: You know what I mean?
- 34:49Speaker 1: That's what it is.
- 34:50Speaker 3: The story is pretty minimal.
- 34:52Speaker 1: If you remade it, you would just be.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Again, I think that's the strength of it. I think
- 34:57Speaker 3: that's why it works so well is because he got...
- 35:01Speaker 3: As previously said on an episode, King writes a lot
- 35:03Speaker 3: of extra stuff that you don't necessarily need. He gets
- 35:06Speaker 3: carried away on his own stories. So it's like, those
- 35:09Speaker 3: pages don't fill themselves.
- 35:12Speaker 5: I've got four books to write this week.
- 35:14Speaker 3: Just fire it away.
- 35:15Speaker 1: I'm that person that likes to sit around and say,
- 35:17Speaker 1: they're the blank of blank. He's the David Copperfield of
- 35:21Speaker 1: modern horror.
- 35:22Speaker 3: But I think it helped it to thin it out anyway.
- 35:26Speaker 3: And then when you get somebody like Kubrick, who is
- 35:27Speaker 3: so plotting and so style heavy that he knew exactly
- 35:33Speaker 3: what he wanted to do. and the extra bullshit of
- 35:37Speaker 3: the story is just going to get in the way.
- 35:38Speaker 3: So he just cut it down to the bare minimum.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Here's the basics of what I want. Here's the creepiness.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Now I'm going to add all my crazy Kubrick stuff
- 35:45Speaker 3: on top of that, and it's going to be amazing,
- 35:47Speaker 3: and it kind of is. It would be hard to
- 35:50Speaker 3: do the Kubrick version.
- 35:51Speaker 5: If you were going to stick closer to let's do
- 35:53Speaker 5: a book version kind of a thing.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Let's see what a random casting is.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Let's, oh. All right, let's do this. Starting to age
- 36:08Speaker 3: out now.
- 36:09Speaker 5: Just throw it out. I don't do the math.
- 36:11Speaker 3: I forget how old Jeff Goldblum is.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Hot. But think about crazy.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Jeff Goldblum moving into the hotel. Well, all you have
- 36:22Speaker 3: to do is conjure him as the fly.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I know.
- 36:26Speaker 3: He can do that crazy.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Paul does a pretty good Jeff Goldblum.
- 36:30Speaker 3: I'm doing it now. You live your life as Jeff Goldblum.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Every day I'm doing Jeff Goldblum.
- 36:37Speaker 3: No, no, just tiny imperfections.
- 36:39Speaker 1: It's his inner, you know how you all have your
- 36:42Speaker 1: inner celebrity. Who's your inner celebrity? Brian, who you got?
- 36:47Speaker 1: Paul's is Jeff Goldblum.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Do I have an inner celebrity?
- 36:52Speaker 3: I don't know, do I?
- 36:53Speaker 1: Mine's Drew Barrymore.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 36:56Speaker 5: Do I have to be annoyed at you now?
- 36:59Speaker 6: Yeah, actually, I could totally see you cast in the
- 37:05Speaker 6: Santa Clarita Diet.
- 37:06Speaker 5: I know, right?
- 37:07Speaker 3: That's only because you eat people.
- 37:11Speaker 8: Turns out, it's man.
- 37:12Speaker 3: For a living. So for the Shelley Duvall role, do
- 37:17Speaker 3: we need to go age appropriate for Jeff Goldblum? No, no,
- 37:20Speaker 3: what are you talking about? Because the other people are, yeah,
- 37:24Speaker 3: it's standard Hollywood casting if we're going with the randomizer
- 37:26Speaker 3: here because Lea Michele came up. I'm like, poor Lea Michele.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Which one's Lea Michele?
- 37:34Speaker 5: She's a glee.
- 37:35Speaker 3: Oh, whatever. I don't know. But again, she's like, what, 25?
- 37:39Speaker 3: So 72-year-old Jeff Goldblum is married to this 25-year-old.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Well, he is married to like a 30-year-old.
- 37:44Speaker 3: He probably is. I mean, once again, this is a
- 37:46Speaker 3: Hollywood role. But that wouldn't really translate well on film.
- 37:52Speaker 3: does think about i mean it's like that it's not
- 37:54Speaker 3: a lot of things it's not that vast but it's
- 37:57Speaker 3: a lot of times a good 30 year gap in
- 37:59Speaker 3: some of these leading man versus leading lady chomp crews
- 38:03Speaker 3: i'm talking to you they went through and like they
- 38:06Speaker 3: mapped out a lot of his movies and it's like
- 38:08Speaker 3: the the chart that they map out of his age
- 38:12Speaker 3: continually getting higher and his leading lady age continually getting smaller.
- 38:17Speaker 6: Well, there's only so many short women in Hollywood that
- 38:21Speaker 6: he can.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Be slightly taller than. Just Apple boxes.
- 38:24Speaker 5: He's all fine. Don't worry about it.
- 38:26Speaker 3: You just got to shoot appropriately.
- 38:28Speaker 5: Yeah, it's perspective shots, yeah.
- 38:31Speaker 3: So, throwing that in there, how about Tom Cruise in
- 38:37Speaker 3: The Shining?
- 38:40Speaker 6: Yeah that's a weird the thing is like I'm already
- 38:43Speaker 6: scared of him so well yeah that's the thing I'm
- 38:45Speaker 6: weirded out by it but at the same time I'm like.
- 38:49Speaker 1: He he's a weird dude.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Like I mean that kind of like has it's own
- 38:56Speaker 3: alchemy that goes on there that I'm like that could
- 38:58Speaker 3: nail it or could be such.
- 39:01Speaker 6: A train wreck to that point another Scientologist.
- 39:06Speaker 3: That's what I thought was an interesting tie in too
- 39:08Speaker 3: um John Travolta.
- 39:10Speaker 5: All right.
- 39:11Speaker 3: In The Shining. In The Shining.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Which ties into my next movie.
- 39:15Speaker 1: How about, wait a minute, let me go one step further.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Nicolas Cage.
- 39:18Speaker 2: In The Shining.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Now that. Let's keep going.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Do I think it would be good?
- 39:21Speaker 6: No.
- 39:21Speaker 1: No.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Does it work? Would I line up for it now?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Yes. I'm there.
- 39:27Speaker 3: I'm trying to think, though. Before we move on, who's
- 39:29Speaker 3: the modern day Shelley Duvall? I'm trying to think.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Man.
- 39:34Speaker 5: Because she's such an... I love her in a lot
- 39:38Speaker 5: of roles, but she's an odd actress.
- 39:40Speaker 6: What's the one remotely close would be the girl from
- 39:48Speaker 6: That Girl.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Zoey Deschanel.
- 39:52Speaker 5: Zoey Deschanel.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Like, she's got the, ah, cute, kind of weird.
- 39:56Speaker 5: Huh. That's, but that's the closest, I think.
- 40:01Speaker 1: No, I can see that.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:03Speaker 1: But I would never make her work with Nicolas Cage.
- 40:06Speaker 1: It's just an image I can't handle in my head.
- 40:07Speaker 1: What about Tom Cruise?
- 40:09Speaker 3: I mean, she's not as odd as Shelley Duvall. No,
- 40:13Speaker 3: but she's good at being quirky as hell. But I
- 40:15Speaker 3: could see her screaming her head off. And me believing it.
- 40:19Speaker 3: And she's actually a good actress.
- 40:21Speaker 2: She is.
- 40:21Speaker 5: That show is the best showcase of her.
- 40:24Speaker 3: But she's got potential to do good things.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't have a problem with her acting. I
- 40:30Speaker 1: think she's quirky and she's good and I like the fit.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Well, there you go.
- 40:34Speaker 1: There you go. Cast, boom. Next.
- 40:35Speaker 5: All right.
- 40:36Speaker 6: So, one, speaking of Scientology, one that I have in
- 40:40Speaker 6: my do remake list is.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Oh, the Scientology movie? No. No. With the alien.
- 40:46Speaker 5: There's like three of them.
- 40:47Speaker 3: No, no.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Woodhead turtle.
- 40:48Speaker 3: No, that does not need to be remade.
- 40:50Speaker 5: Battlefield Earth.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Battlefield Earth.
- 40:52Speaker 5: No, that definitely does not need.
- 40:54Speaker 2: To be remade.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I can just watch it on endless loop. How about
- 40:56Speaker 3: Battlefield Earth remade with turtles?
- 40:58Speaker 1: With Battlestar Galactica cast.
- 41:00Speaker 5: I want to see an entire cast of actual live
- 41:02Speaker 5: action turtle.
- 41:03Speaker 1: It's just turtle on turtle.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Action.
- 41:06Speaker 3: I don't want any of that guy in it. I
- 41:07Speaker 3: want live real turtle.
- 41:09Speaker 1: No, it's not turtle.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Turtle is turtle.
- 41:12Speaker 5: No, I want Turtles, Dan.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Turtles.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Real slow action.
- 41:15Speaker 5: I want Turtles.
- 41:17Speaker 2: No, no.
- 41:18Speaker 3: With dreadlocks.
- 41:19Speaker 5: I love that movie.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Face off. Do remake it.
- 41:23Speaker 1: With women.
- 41:24Speaker 5: For God's sake, remake it.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Why?
- 41:28Speaker 1: It's perfect as it is. No, it's not. That's like
- 41:30Speaker 1: saying remake Con Air.
- 41:32Speaker 3: Remake Kanye. I mean, you couldn't make it more ridiculous.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I know. That's the point.
- 41:40Speaker 3: There's nothing to lose or gain in remaking this. Face off,
- 41:44Speaker 3: I initially got a specific image flashed up for my
- 41:49Speaker 3: starring leading man, and I can't decide which one he is.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
- 41:55Speaker 5: I'm trying to do a currently, a current day. So
- 41:58Speaker 5: I'm like, he is good.
- 42:00Speaker 1: That's what I'm like.
- 42:01Speaker 3: I'm like, he's not ever really bad at something. I
- 42:03Speaker 3: loved Looper. Wasn't it Looper?
- 42:05Speaker 1: Looper's great.
- 42:05Speaker 3: And again, he doesn't need extra face stuff. So let's
- 42:08Speaker 3: just have him have his real face. Because that's my
- 42:10Speaker 3: main issue with Looper. It's like, what?
- 42:12Speaker 1: No. We can do the math.
- 42:14Speaker 3: We understand Bruce Willis.
- 42:16Speaker 5: We don't need a face appliance.
- 42:18Speaker 3: It's cool.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Face appliance.
- 42:21Speaker 5: Speaking of no face appliance, face off.
- 42:23Speaker 3: So who's the other half?
- 42:25Speaker 5: A face off.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Do we go random or do we think of one?
- 42:32Speaker 3: I'm trying to think of someone similar age.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Oh my God. I know this is my go-to, right?
- 42:37Speaker 1: Because I love them.
- 42:39Speaker 5: But I got it.
- 42:40Speaker 1: And don't, you're going to roll your eyes.
- 42:42Speaker 5: I got it.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Aiden Gillen.
- 42:45Speaker 5: I can totally see that.
- 42:46Speaker 8: Right?
- 42:48Speaker 3: Do I know this person?
- 42:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he was CIA in Dark Knight.
- 42:52Speaker 6: He was Peter Baelish in Game of Thrones.
- 42:56Speaker 1: But he really has curly hair. It's gray. But he's
- 43:00Speaker 1: kind of the same shape as a Gordon Levitt, sort of.
- 43:04Speaker 1: And he can kind of do campy. Irish actor. I
- 43:09Speaker 1: know I love him and talk about him a lot.
- 43:11Speaker 3: You do. You've got a photo on your phone.
- 43:17Speaker 1: He's my ringtone when you call.
- 43:18Speaker 3: He's your screensaver.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Or he's my photo when you call.
- 43:21Speaker 5: It's your wallpaper.
- 43:22Speaker 1: It's him because he looks like you, but you look better.
- 43:24Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, that would kind of be a cool.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Yes, who takes place of Nicolas Cage? Well, I mean,
- 43:34Speaker 3: it kind of reverses anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
- 43:37Speaker 1: But those two would work, and it's kind of like
- 43:39Speaker 1: it would be interesting.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Aidan Gillen in Face Off, the movie.
- 43:44Speaker 1: The remake.
- 43:45Speaker 3: The remake. Dust face off.
- 43:49Speaker 5: Dust face off.
- 43:51Speaker 3: Reface. About face.
- 43:54Speaker 5: Off.
- 43:59Speaker 1: But you know what I'm saying? Like, okay, so if
- 44:00Speaker 1: I wanted it to be good and cool and, like,
- 44:04Speaker 1: if somebody decent would rewrite it, then those would be
- 44:08Speaker 1: my two. Because I think they're both really good actors.
- 44:09Speaker 3: I think it totally works.
- 44:11Speaker 5: You could totally do it.
- 44:12Speaker 3: And that's why... I feel vindicated in putting it in
- 44:16Speaker 3: my do column. Well, I've been thinking about all the
- 44:21Speaker 3: places we've.
- 44:22Speaker 9: Surfed and danced in, all the.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Faces we've missed, so let's get back.
- 44:29Speaker 8: Together and do it again.
- 44:32Speaker 9: Come to me.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Yes, folks, it's intermission time.
- 44:52Speaker 2: So how about taking a break? Get out and stretch
- 44:55Speaker 2: a little. And relax before the show begins again.
- 44:58Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 44:59Speaker 3: That's no good.
- 45:00Speaker 7: Turn it off.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Stop it.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Turn it off.
- 45:04Speaker 5: That won't work.
- 45:05Speaker 6: It's no good.
- 45:07Speaker 5: What do you make a trailer for?
- 45:09Speaker 6: To give the public an idea of what kind of.
- 45:12Speaker 5: A picture to expect.
- 45:13Speaker 6: Hilarious, romantic, tender, exciting.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Make up your minds. It can't be all of those things. Mr.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Schafer, if you look at the picture.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I don't have to look at the picture. I know
- 45:24Speaker 1: you're wrong.
- 45:25Speaker 5: Tender, exciting.
- 45:27Speaker 1: By the practically opposites.
- 45:29Speaker 3: You've got to decide what kind of a.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Picture this is.

- 49:38Speaker 2: Why is there a bad love on me?
- 49:45Speaker 7: It's part of your problem, you know.
- 49:48Speaker 5: You haven't seen enough movies.
- 49:49Speaker 3: All of life's riddles are.
- 49:51Speaker 2: Answered in the movies.
- 49:53Speaker 4: And now, on with the show.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Oh my God, what have I done? All I wanted
- 50:01Speaker 1: was a little fun. Wow, God, does this mean it's
- 50:05Speaker 1: my turn to do or do not? I hadn't thought
- 50:07Speaker 1: that far. I've got a string of them.
- 50:09Speaker 5: Do or do not.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Do or do not you.
- 50:10Speaker 9: Both.
- 50:11Speaker 1: There are so many that.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Should not be done because they're timeless.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Like 1970s kung fu movies?
- 50:36Speaker 3: Well, that's why they're good. Because they're kung fu movies
- 50:40Speaker 3: from the 70s.
- 50:41Speaker 5: Tell that to Kill Bill Volumor.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Oh my God. So there is a crazy Clint Eastwood
- 50:46Speaker 1: movie that I love that is so not a Clint
- 50:48Speaker 1: Eastwood movie. But I think that they should redo it
- 50:51Speaker 1: because it's super creepy and weird.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Which one?
- 50:53Speaker 1: Play Misty for me. With the psycho chick and she's
- 50:57Speaker 1: like a stalker and you're like, when is Clint Eastwood
- 51:00Speaker 1: going to be a cop? Like, he can't figure out
- 51:02Speaker 1: what's going on.
- 51:02Speaker 3: He might also be a cowboy.
- 51:04Speaker 1: He has two options. So, I always thought that was
- 51:08Speaker 1: a really well done, bizarre movie.
- 51:10Speaker 5: It's, again, mostly forgotten, except for Movie Geeks.
- 51:14Speaker 3: So, yeah, I think you could do that.
- 51:16Speaker 5: You could reboot that and people would be, like, not
- 51:18Speaker 5: even realizing it's a remake.
- 51:20Speaker 1: And then you could, like... do a mashup of that
- 51:22Speaker 1: and the fog. Cause I think they both take place
- 51:24Speaker 1: on like, you know, some like, well, it's.
- 51:27Speaker 3: Weird people in front of microphones. So it could just
- 51:30Speaker 3: be about podcasters.
- 51:31Speaker 1: No, I mean, they're coastal, you know, there's lighthouses.
- 51:34Speaker 3: I don't think the fog needs to be remade. He's
- 51:37Speaker 3: a DJ. He's a DJ.
- 51:38Speaker 1: And then there's a DJ in the fog. So there
- 51:41Speaker 1: you go. That's probably why I liked it because I
- 51:43Speaker 1: probably started watching it as a kid and thought it
- 51:45Speaker 1: was the fog. And then it was like, Oh wait, what?
- 51:48Speaker 6: It's funny, though, because I feel as though Play Misty
- 51:51Speaker 6: for me could be remade, but The Fog does not
- 51:53Speaker 6: need to be remade.
- 51:54Speaker 1: But they have remade The Fog, yeah.
- 51:56Speaker 3: I know. It didn't need to be remade. Tom Welly
- 51:59Speaker 3: needs to be in every one of these movies.
- 52:01Speaker 1: And I love... I don't think that they should remake
- 52:04Speaker 1: the Harry Dean Stanton Cthulhu movie, and I can't remember
- 52:08Speaker 1: the name of it, but it was great.
- 52:10Speaker 3: What are you talking about?
- 52:11Speaker 1: Is this another one of those things that I've just
- 52:13Speaker 1: made up in my own head?
- 52:13Speaker 5: You might have.
- 52:14Speaker 3: Harry Dean Stanton from.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Maybe I made that up.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Everything.
- 52:18Speaker 5: Every movie.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Yeah, he's the same every time.
- 52:20Speaker 5: The hell you say.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Yeah, like they go to the weird town. I like
- 52:25Speaker 1: weird town movies.
- 52:26Speaker 5: Okay.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Never remake Hot Fuzz. Don't touch it.
- 52:31Speaker 3: I think, yeah. Who are we recasting Hot Fuzz with?
- 52:33Speaker 2: No one.
- 52:36Speaker 1: It's like you're burning hell if you redo Hot Fuzz.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Any of the Simon Pegg series. We replaced Timothy Dalton
- 52:44Speaker 3: with Pierce Brosnan.
- 52:46Speaker 1: Yeah, well, those two.
- 52:48Speaker 3: That's the only move I know.
- 52:49Speaker 1: What to do. Those are interchangeable.
- 52:50Speaker 3: Yes, any Bond really would work. Any old Bond dude
- 52:53Speaker 3: that's not dead yet.
- 52:55Speaker 1: And not Sean Connery.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Just.
- 52:57Speaker 1: We named the dog in hand. Or Sean Connery.
- 52:59Speaker 6: Just let the dragon truck Roger Moore's bones out there.
- 53:02Speaker 1: For the Edward Woodward character, it could be Sean Connery
- 53:04Speaker 1: because poor Edward Woodward. Knock on wood. I don't know
- 53:07Speaker 1: why you knock on wood.
- 53:07Speaker 3: It's not.
- 53:08Speaker 1: The thing you do. He's dead.
- 53:09Speaker 3: Rest his soul. Are you knocking on wood? Are you
- 53:12Speaker 3: knocking on the coffin? Hello? Can I come in here?
- 53:15Speaker 1: I like him. He was the equalizer. He was TV's
- 53:18Speaker 1: the equalizer.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Which they remade!
- 53:20Speaker 1: Denzel Washington will be in Hot Fuzz.
- 53:24Speaker 3: He's the no-nonsense cop. Now, who's the silly guy?
- 53:28Speaker 1: Oh, he's the guy that plays the.
- 53:29Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 53:30Speaker 3: We need him to be our leading man because he's Denzel.
- 53:32Speaker 3: He doesn't do anything but leading man.
- 53:34Speaker 5: So, he's the no-nonsense cop.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Who's the silly guy? I'm force casting this movie. Jim Carrey.
- 53:42Speaker 1: Oh, God.
- 53:44Speaker 5: That's too, he wasn't that. Chris Pratt.
- 53:47Speaker 1: We'll just go back to Chris Pratt. Just put him
- 53:48Speaker 1: in there.
- 53:49Speaker 5: He works.
- 53:50Speaker 3: He could conjure his role as Mouse Wreck. Again, I
- 53:53Speaker 3: was like, if you go back to like, if you
- 53:55Speaker 3: go back to Parks and Rec when he's a little heftier,
- 53:58Speaker 3: like he could, because now he's like all buff and shit,
- 54:01Speaker 3: but like go back a couple years till he was
- 54:03Speaker 3: kind of, he was just kind of a slob and like.
- 54:06Speaker 3: He seemed like he probably sits around watching action movies.
- 54:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I can see that.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Specifically Point Break.
- 54:11Speaker 3: And faking Kung Fu, yeah.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Alright.
- 54:15Speaker 3: So, we made that work.
- 54:16Speaker 5: See? No.
- 54:17Speaker 6: There's no way that would work well.
- 54:20Speaker 3: Make it happen, Hollywood. No.
- 54:24Speaker 1: There was already a travesty that was remade of The
- 54:27Speaker 1: Wicker Man, which is also one of my favorite movies.
- 54:29Speaker 3: Well, it should be, because not the bees.
- 54:32Speaker 9: So....
- 54:35Speaker 1: Who's next i think you are am i yeah.
- 54:38Speaker 3: Yeah what you got all right this one i'm trying
- 54:44Speaker 3: to think which direction we go uh well you're you're
- 54:47Speaker 3: uh spirit animal stars in this one as well as
- 54:51Speaker 3: a child what if you tried to remake et now
- 54:55Speaker 3: granted they've done it many times as bad knockoff movies
- 54:59Speaker 3: But what if you full on were just like, screw
- 55:01Speaker 3: you Spielberg, I'm gonna redo E.T.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Like, scene for scene.
- 55:07Speaker 3: Pretty close.
- 55:09Speaker 1: Yeah, because I would say, what was it, 8mm? Is
- 55:13Speaker 1: that the name of the movie?
- 55:14Speaker 2: Not 8mm.
- 55:15Speaker 3: I get the two confused. Not the one with Joaquin Phoenix.
- 55:19Speaker 3: That's the snuff film.
- 55:22Speaker 5: Just Super 8.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Super 8.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Super 8. There we go.
- 55:25Speaker 5: Super 8 was kind of a... I was like, it
- 55:26Speaker 5: is similar to that.
- 55:27Speaker 2: I'll give you that.
- 55:28Speaker 1: And it's a film type.
- 55:29Speaker 5: It is a film.
- 55:30Speaker 1: I think Super 8 was a... It's pretty close-ish.
- 55:34Speaker 2: I liked it.
- 55:35Speaker 5: I mean, truthfully... We just had Stranger Things.
- 55:39Speaker 3: It's totally.
- 55:40Speaker 2: It's totally.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's kind of like.
- 55:42Speaker 3: Not a movie, but again, like somebody mapped out a
- 55:44Speaker 3: good series.
- 55:45Speaker 1: But if you were doing it, yeah, like scene for scene,
- 55:47Speaker 1: like a remake of each scene.
- 55:48Speaker 3: So they kind of already just did that. But I
- 55:51Speaker 3: was trying to think.
- 55:52Speaker 1: I don't really know any child actors.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:54Speaker 3: I mean, again, all the kids are in that show now.
- 55:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they're perfect.
- 55:57Speaker 3: And they were pretty, pretty like perfect to the 80s too.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:02Speaker 1: You would just cast Stranger Things.
- 56:04Speaker 3: As the cast for E.T.
- 56:06Speaker 5: It's just weird that we skipped the alien part and
- 56:10Speaker 5: just went with a crazy shaved head girl.
- 56:13Speaker 1: But the shaved head girl could just play the dream girl.
- 56:15Speaker 3: But she's badass, so it does work in its own
- 56:18Speaker 3: weird way. So yeah, I hadn't even thought that we
- 56:20Speaker 3: did just kind of already do it.
- 56:22Speaker 5: I was just thinking Mac and me went horribly wrong,
- 56:24Speaker 5: so what.
- 56:25Speaker 3: If we tried to do it the right way? Mac
- 56:29Speaker 3: and me.
- 56:29Speaker 1: I don't know that there is a right way, but.
- 56:32Speaker 3: Wow. So let's just do it the Mac and me way.
- 56:36Speaker 3: Let's pick the worst kid actors and the most terrible puppet.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I'd be like the kid on the local commercial about roofing.
- 56:46Speaker 1: That would be my casting.
- 56:48Speaker 5: That's it. You're not in charge of casting.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Not for kid films. Don't give me those. I'm not
- 56:53Speaker 1: good at those.
- 56:55Speaker 3: I'm not really worried about the kids.
- 56:56Speaker 5: I'm just trying to picture a really bad modern puppet.
- 56:59Speaker 1: Tom Hardy? Tom Hardy cast Tom Hardy in that.
- 57:02Speaker 5: We're working on him for one later.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Oh, we are? I love Tom Hardy.
- 57:06Speaker 3: You know, I mean, he's in everything, so he's going
- 57:08Speaker 3: to have to get worked into some of these.
- 57:09Speaker 1: But he's another one of those guys that's really good,
- 57:11Speaker 1: but has been in some shockingly bad films.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Well, again, he needed to work a whole lot. When
- 57:16Speaker 3: he broke in this country, he was just like, all right,
- 57:18Speaker 3: cash some checks. I need to make up for all
- 57:20Speaker 3: this time I've been making movies nobody's seen. God, his
- 57:23Speaker 3: role in Star Trek Nemesis. But it was in America.
- 57:28Speaker 3: That's what was important. Yeah, he did. He made it.
- 57:31Speaker 5: All right, so E.T. 's kind of already done, so
- 57:35Speaker 5: what else can.
- 57:35Speaker 3: We go with?
- 57:37Speaker 10: I have on my list of things to do. This
- 57:43Speaker 10: is a controversial one.
- 57:44Speaker 6: Oh.
- 57:46Speaker 10: You'll probably say, don't do it. But I say, do
- 57:50Speaker 10: do it. Do the do.
- 57:53Speaker 3: American Werewolf in London.
- 57:55Speaker 1: Oh.
- 57:58Speaker 3: I recently had someone recently in the last couple years
- 58:02Speaker 3: who hadn't watched that didn't grow up with it being
- 58:06Speaker 3: a beloved horror classic watched it and was like I
- 58:09Speaker 3: don't get it so I do wonder if like if
- 58:12Speaker 3: old school horror fans it's like it is hollow ground
- 58:15Speaker 3: you don't touch it but I wonder if kids now
- 58:17Speaker 3: are just like I don't care like I wonder if
- 58:20Speaker 3: it is one of those you could remake and like it's.
- 58:23Speaker 5: All vampires these days.
- 58:25Speaker 3: No, I mean, werewolves keep coming back, but they don't
- 58:28Speaker 3: always hit.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Oh, there's a new Underworld film that's coming out, right?
- 58:31Speaker 5: Waterworld?
- 58:33Speaker 1: Waterworld?
- 58:34Speaker 3: Waterworld definitely needs to be remade.
- 58:36Speaker 1: Okay, with werewolves. Underwaterworld.
- 58:39Speaker 3: And mix in Face Off. Face Off on Waterworld.
- 58:43Speaker 5: With werewolves. With werewolves. Hollywood.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Give us a call.
- 58:48Speaker 5: All right, give us a call right now.
- 58:52Speaker 1: How about.
- 58:52Speaker 3: 14 money. And give me a dollar. Since that was
- 58:55Speaker 3: so controversial, how about Children of the Corn? See, that's
- 58:59Speaker 3: been a while.
- 59:00Speaker 5: I thought they remade that. No, they just had a series.
- 59:04Speaker 3: And they tried. Didn't they try to do a TV
- 59:06Speaker 3: series that didn't work?
- 59:07Speaker 1: But even that.
- 59:10Speaker 3: been a while. The original movie.
- 59:14Speaker 1: It's been so long though.
- 59:14Speaker 3: We keep coming back to Stephen King somehow. He had
- 59:19Speaker 3: a ton of stuff made in that span of mostly
- 59:23Speaker 3: the 80s. They knocked out damn near half the books
- 59:26Speaker 3: that were the big sellers. And some of them hit
- 59:29Speaker 3: and some of them didn't. So it's like, that's one
- 59:31Speaker 3: of those I don't think it's bad, but it's like
- 59:33Speaker 3: it's almost forgotten. Like, once again, it's just hardcore. Horror
- 59:36Speaker 3: fans still like it. But most people, like, I think
- 59:40Speaker 3: you wouldn't be able to pull much from it at all.
- 59:43Speaker 3: Did they remake Children of the Damned? Yes.
- 59:45Speaker 8: Yes.
- 59:46Speaker 5: With Christopher Reeve once again.
- 59:47Speaker 3: No, no, no, no. Village of the Damned.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Yeah, but with Nicole Kidman and... Am I getting my
- 59:54Speaker 1: movies mixed in?
- 59:55Speaker 5: That's Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 59:58Speaker 3: It's just called Invasion. Because it's her and Bond.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I thought she was in that.
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: I don't remember who is the female lead in that.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: I know it is Christopher Reeve.
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: So it was only... Children of the Damned was only...
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: It's Village of the Damned is the one they remade.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: But it's pretty much the same. I mean, again, they
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: were more or less the same story both times. Village
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: of the Damned.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Oh my God, I got a good one.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: 1995... In 1960. Who was the female? In Village of
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: the Damned, it was....
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: But did it get remade for a third time?
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: Christopher Reeve and Kirstie Alley.
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: Wait, wait, wait.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: Nobody's going to mess. Nobody's going to have a problem
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: with the recasting.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: There was a third one. Like, I think there was
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: a remake, and she was in it. Look up Nicole Kidman.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I cannot be wrong. She's in Invasion. But there was
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: something else she was in.
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: She's in The Stepford Wives.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Maybe that was it. I actually like her. She can
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: be great.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: She sometimes does weird stuff, but.
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: She can be great.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: She's all right in my book.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: The Others?
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: No.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: I love The Others. That's a great movie. I thought that,
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: and that's one that does not need to be remade. Well,
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know how, again, it's one of those,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: once you've seen it, like, so how do you go
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: back and remake it and not know what's coming?
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Yeah. It's hard to do that kind of stuff. It's
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: too recent.
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Too recently good i should say and they're busy making
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: new ghost movies yeah there's tons of paranormal activity and
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: spin-off movies and like yeah there's a billion of those
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: kind of movies now that kind of keep feeding that anyway.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Like if if it was when we grew up it
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: would be like a movie about the the possessed clown
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: puppets day job would be what we've descended to.
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: And Not yet.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: In sequels.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: If we're going back to Stephen King.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Because that's coming out soon. I mean, Poltergeist, just the
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: weird clown.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: Oh, Poltergeist, yeah. Which was just remade.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: So here's one. Here's another weird, obscure one that I
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: think would be a cool remake, though I don't know
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: who I would cast. I think it's called The Legacy.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: And it was set in a weird British house in
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: a weird British town. I think, and Roger Daltrey was
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: in it, and it was like a party of people,
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: and there was something crazy going on at the house,
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: and Roger Daltrey chokes on something, and somebody gives him
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: a tracheotomy in the middle of the buffet. Does anybody
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: remember this?
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: 1978.
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: If we can recast Roger Daltrey out of this, I'm
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: already on board.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: I think I'd just put Roger Daltrey back in it.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Maybe it would be the entire cast of the crew
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: that was living.
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: I was never overly thrilled with Roger Daltrey.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Do you remember that? Even musically. I vaguely remember that.
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: I have this weird thing with like... Catherine Ross and
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: Sam Elliott.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Sam Elliott was in that?
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:45Speaker 9: Nice.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Is that the guy that was in.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Sam Elliott should be in everything.
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: So let me tell you this.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: You know, he was in.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: Roadhouse.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: Oh, that guy.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: The classic that is Roadhouse.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: No, wait.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Is that the same guy? Is Roger Daltrey in it?
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: Roadhouse? Roger Daltrey is Dalton in Roadhouse.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Roger Dalton.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Roger Dalton.
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: No, the legacy.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Does it have him in it? That's the only way
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: I know. Timothy Dalton is Dalton. It's like a hawking
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: scene and somebody gets their eyes clawed out. It is
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: full of awesomeness. Timothy Dalton is Dalton.
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: Is Dalton.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: So let me tell you about this strange condition I have.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: One of many.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: Who are the two actors I can't remember?
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: Sam.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: No, Sam Neill. That's a whole different one.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: No, there's another Sam. There's another Sam. That should be
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: a movie title.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: The one just died. And he was in True Lies.
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: Not the Pullman-Paxton thing.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: I have the Pullman-Paxton thing.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: I don't understand that.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: She has Pullman-Paxton disease. She's overdone.
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: But it's true.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: But I don't get it because they're nothing alike.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: They are.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: They look nothing alike.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Yes, they do.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Their acting styles are miles apart. Like, I never understood
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: that thing. I agree.
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: Their names.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: It's a thing.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Their last name started with P.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Wait a minute.
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: Wait a minute.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: That's about it.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: It's a thing.
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: And there are two bills. That's it.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: The most routine, run-of-the-mill thing... about not being able to
- 1:04:13Speaker 5: remember two actors.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Ever well i can't and i'm telling you they totally
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: seem the same to me and i'm not joking like
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: i'm not saying i have a disorder and it needs
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: shock therapy well okay which we can arrange sam i
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: have another one with sam neill and another dude i
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: can't remember who was in twister bill paxton Well, throw
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: Sam Neill in. Mine's worse.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Sam Neill does not belong in Twister. But I don't
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: know that anybody belongs in Twister.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Well, anyway, yes. I think that is actually a real
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: thing because for the longest time, I cannot tell the difference.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I'd probably just be like, it's one that was in this.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: He's gone now, so we have to redo it. Twister.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Who do we put in Twister? How do we make
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: it not a mess? Better yet. Would you put Bill
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: Pullman in Weird Science?
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: No, would you put Bill Pullman? Chet is Bill Pullman.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: All right, let's random cast Twister.
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: Let's see where we're going.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: I don't think you can remake that.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Yeah, who would you do as Helen Hunt?
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: Helen Hunt would be played by.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: Reese Witherspoon.
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: Ooh, poor Emma Stone. She just got cast in the
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: Twister remake.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Oh, I like her.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: She'd be good in it.
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: I do, too. That's why I feel bad for her.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: She'd actually be good. She's a little above Twister remake. Well,
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: so is Helen Hunt, to be fair.
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: At that point, yeah. She was well past that. Yeah,
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: pretty much.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: She shouldn't have done Twister. But that was a nice
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: payday for all parties involved.
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure.
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: It was pretty fun.
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: Actually, wasn't the guy that was in Ferris Bueller's Day Off?
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: Alan Ruck?
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Wasn't he also in Twister? There's a lot of random
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: people running around.
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: He's in Speed.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: The other Jean Dubon movie. Oh, and a young... What's
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: his name? The guy who played... Philip Seymour Hoffman. Yeah.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: He is?
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: He played the same character that he played in Boogie Nights,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: because that would be awesome.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: He's the same in every movie.
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: He's a cameraman, right?
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Except in My Boyfriend's Back. If only he was still
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: around so I could bring that up to him and
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: he'd be like, ah, damn it.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: Shut up.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: So. Yeah, well, who would play Bill? Who is our Bill?
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: Okay, Liam Hemsworth just came up.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Tough luck, dude.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: That works. Because I'd be like, I can't tell Liam from.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: I'll give you that one. At least they are brothers.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: They have the same last name.
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: And they do look kind of alike. Now, granted, Thor
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: looks a little more like Thor.
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: But it's like if you look at Liam and you're
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: just like, if Thor had a younger brother.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Or you could throw Tom Hiddleston in there for that matter.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: Now that, well, have you seen Skull Island? Because it's
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: kind of like Tom Hiddleston in the middle of Twister,
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: only if Twister was awesome. Because Skull Island's badass. But
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: it does feel like it's that same idea of like,
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: let's throw a lot of things in this mix and
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: see if they work.
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: And like, it kind of gets nailed in Skull Island.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: Everything fun just kind of happens and it's awesome. And
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: Tom Hiddleston's just sort of along for the ride and
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: really doesn't have much to do. So that's what makes
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: me think.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: I mean, he certainly does as Loki because he steals
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: those movies.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: You think so? I can't look past his wig.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: He doesn't need to be the villain because he's not
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: really a villain because everybody loves him anyway. So like he's...
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: Become his own weird thing in those movies that I
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: don't even know what to do with anymore.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: I bet there's a whole lot of Loki fan fiction.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: You know, the world of fan fiction is weird.
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: Fangirls have a thing for Loki that you will not believe.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Yeah. And the wig?
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: Maybe they put the wig on.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: The wig has its own separate series.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Start typing those right now.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: I've got a good one.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: And it's in my don't category, but maybe it should be.
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: Let's do it anyway.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: Big Trouble in Little China.
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: They're doing it.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I think they are.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: You heard that, right?
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: No, I haven't.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: And it's one of those, I would say. It could work.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: I would say, well, once again, it's like, I would
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: say don't.
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: And then I heard the casting.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: I was like, son of a bitch. Because it falls
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: back to my, I'm going to love him no matter what.
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: Freaking rock.
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: Remake.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: Don't put The Rock in it they put The Rock
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: Dwayne Johnson oh my god and I'm like you.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: Can't hate that he's so.
- 1:08:28Speaker 11: Damn charismatic he really is he really is he doesn't
- 1:08:31Speaker 11: like The Rock so I'm like I don't know if
- 1:08:34Speaker 11: it's gonna turn out great but I'll watch it I'm
- 1:08:37Speaker 11: gonna wanna see what he does.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: Cause he's The Rock and he's always fun and.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: Ashley Miller well like we said before he made uh
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Scorpion King.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: Your favorite movie, Scorpion King?
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Scorpion King is not my favorite movie. I guess I
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: watch it.
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: It's got the rock. I mean, BAPS is your favorite movie,
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: but second is Scorpion King. We're establishing your list of favorites.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: Well, then I get a second go because I didn't
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: realize that that was being remade.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: All right. So when does that come out? I mean,
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: I thought they were already making it, so it could
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: be out by the end of this year.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: So another one of my don't category. These can't be remade.
- 1:09:16Speaker 6: No one will ever remake Blazing Saddles.
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: I had that on my list, actually.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, you can't.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: That was my question. I was going to throw it
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: out because how do you.
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: You can't do it.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: Well, I'm saying, no, they would still try to because
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: it's a property.
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: So a studio is going to be like, yeah, that's
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: going to make money.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: So what did they do to homogenize it to the
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: point where now it's so watered down and lame that
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: it could get greenlit? I'm trying to think, how could
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: you still make it fit what's going on, and yet
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: take out everything offensive. I mean, I don't know how
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: you're left with a movie. Like, the plot itself centers
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: around a situation that I feel like you can't really do,
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: certainly not easily at this point in time. So it's like,
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: what do you do with that?
- 1:10:05Speaker 6: Although I will argue that if we ever needed it
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: at any point in time, it's now.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: We could actually use a little freaking humor about... I
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: feel like there's only one way you could make this happen.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: You'd have to flip it completely.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: Here's my thing. If you wanted to try to do
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: it instead of our Cleavon Little, which, oddly enough, this
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: also isn't terrible casting, Dave Chappelle. Got away with a
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: lot of shit on his show. If he decided to
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: come back to acting.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: And do Blazing Saddles.
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: And do Blazing Saddles. Like, he could almost pull it.
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: He had that.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: But the beauty.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Of Blazing Saddles was it made fun of everybody.
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: Oh, it did.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: But nobody hears that now.
- 1:10:49Speaker 8: No, no, no. I know.
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: Nobody catches the other stuff.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: And it's like, as you watch... And because they showed
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: it on television when we were kids. So we saw
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: the original. Then we saw, like, as it... kept getting
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: more and more edited for television.
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: Well, what's funny is they didn't edit a lot of
- 1:11:01Speaker 5: that stuff in the beginning there.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they quit showing it because it's just
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: too whatever.
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: But it made fun of everybody. It ended up in
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: the Song of the South bin.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Like, oh, we can't, no. Like the natives talking about,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: you know, the people that were coming in and they're
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: speaking Yiddish. Like, that is funny. You know, like Mel
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: Brooks is, I mean.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: Well, again, it's written by a black guy and a
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Jewish guy, so they kind of felt like they had
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: a license to make fun of everybody, and they kind
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: of did.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: And I think, you know, you get some kind of weird, like, bizarre,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: I can't think of who the modern-day Martin Lawrence is,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: but Martin Lawrence trying to, like, flip it and.
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: Make it a completely different scene.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: That's why I'm sticking with Chappelle.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: Martin Lawrence will make, like, First Night again. No, what
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: the hell was Black Night?
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: First Night.
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: First Night.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: No, wait, I like... Chris Rock. Which is the one
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: that I like of the night movies, and I always
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: say First Night. You guys are like, no, no.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: No, that's Richard Gere, damn it.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: No, it's Richard Gere and Sean Connery.
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: Chris Tucker.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Chris tucker goes back in time to become the first
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: black knight.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Anyway first black knight.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: I was thinking of shanghai.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: But like a movie you shouldn't remake another mel brooks
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: you should not make young frankenstein like that oh yeah i.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Feel like they're gonna want to at some.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Point they can't i mean you cannot do that.
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: Again it's so hinges on that performance like you could
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: cast everybody up they're all great but i'm like you
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: could recast everybody else.
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: But like You can't recast Gene Wilder.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: And again, they've tried to do it with Willy Wonka.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: And Madeline Kahn.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: And it went horrible.
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: You can't redo Madeline Kahn either because to me, she's
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: phenomenal in that role.
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: She's always pretty phenomenal. Yeah.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Which is another great reason why I love Clue because
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: she was great. Flames! Flames! On the side of my face! Paving! Breathing! Breathless!
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: I love her.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: She's great. Yeah, I mean, there's so many great performances
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: in that.
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: That you can't. Oh, what's his name is the straight
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: guy in Clue? The... Who ends up being the FBI guy.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Michael McKean. He's great.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: I'm going to go home and sleep with my wife.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: Yikes.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I wanted to live in the Clue house and
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: have a Clue night. I thought that was the coolest
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: thing ever. Going back to Clue. Anyway.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: But we skipped over. We just said you can't recast.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: Because I've said for years that's what screws up. You
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: can't recast Willy Wonka. You can't recast Gene Wilder in
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: Young Frankenstein, but we totally skipped over Blazing Saddles, which
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: I also think is one of his most amazing performances.
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: But again, neither of those guys were supposed to be that,
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: so they weren't dead set on him. He was way
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: down on the list when they cast him in Blazing Saddles.
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: So who's our gunslinger.
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: In this remake?
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Tom Hardy. I mean.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: Again, if we're not going super comedic.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: No, but that would be the funny part. He tries
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: to be comedic. He's so odd and awkward when he
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: tries to be comedic. But it would kind of work.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: It's not the worst thing. It's a would-have-to-be-seen kind of thing.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: I don't know if it would work, but.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: I think he could pull it off, but I don't know. But, okay,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: so let's see. How about... So if we're not doing that.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Well, okay, if we're going pretty lateral move, Jesse Eisenberg.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: I mean, is he not kind of a new Gene Wilder-ish? Like,
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: he doesn't have that level of charm. He's got a
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: little more neurotic, but it's not far off.
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not that far off. It's not far off
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: at all.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Oh, man. Yeah, that's a good one.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: All right. Here. I got another one.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Well, wait. No, no, no. We're still back on.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: I think, I don't know. I don't know that we
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: can do anything else with it.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I thought Paul would have a good, he'd be like, yeah,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: I got it.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: Well, no, I was thinking, I mean, I couldn't think
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: of the guy's name, so.
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: And I would just be looking.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: It'd be great to have movie conversations where people are
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: always like, wait a minute, that guy, the guy with
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: the arms.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: That one guy.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: The short, long hair.
- 1:14:59Speaker 6: He had a face and now it's off.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: The man with no face, Mel Gibson.
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: No, okay. So I was.
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: Thinking about how office space could be remade, which made
- 1:15:13Speaker 6: me think, 9 to 5 needs to be remade.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: No, and I thought they were talking about it.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: I mean, didn't they like try to do it for
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: TV or something? Like it feels like they were. Well,
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: that's a mistake. But remaking the movie would be a
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: great idea. I mean, it is one of those like
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: sometimes you've given enough time because that one's so like
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: business oriented, but it's 80s through and through business oriented.
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: So I'm like, there's definitely a way you could update
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: the world that it's in.
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: But we now live in a world that.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: Most of the stuff going on, hopefully, ideally isn't still
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: going on.
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: I don't think that's 100% true.
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: No, it's not. It's still going on. But again, it's
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: not that... It's not that... accepted the way that it
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: was even still in the 80s it's not overt it's
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: not constant which is why you could retell it because
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: it's a totally fresh you could do it as story
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: at that point that it is a little more underlying
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: now and like there are guys that are the bosses
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: that are pretending like everything's cool and everybody is on
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: a level playing field but that's not what goes on
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: right the real things that go on is they're still
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: getting screwed over and they're still getting like throwing out
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: the worst jobs and less pay and all of that shit.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: So there is a way to do that that's got
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: a little more edge to it now.
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: Now are we casting? Are we going to the back computer?
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: Who needs to.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: Be Dolly Parton is really all that matters.
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: Sofia Vergara just came.
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: Up and I'm like, well, perfect.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: I mean, I don't, I'm not thrilled with her usually
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: as performance wise, but I mean, again, that is exactly
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: where Hollywood would go at this point. I actually like her.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: I can't. Modern Family. She's great.
- 1:17:02Speaker 5: I like everybody else.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Oh, I love her in Modern Family. Closest, closest, closest, closest, closest.
- 1:17:08Speaker 6: So who would be Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Dabney Coleman.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: I'm trying to think what's sitting next to her on
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: this little computer scenario is Brad Pitt.
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: I'm trying to picture Brad Pitt now as the Dabney Coleman.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: That's an interesting scenario. I totally see it.
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: So here's the other two.
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: Okay, Beyonce. We got to work in a little updated.
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: Beyonce and Naomi Watts. All right.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: That all kind of works.
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: Kind of good.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: The computer came up with some good options here. The
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: computer does not lie. Yeah, it's sad that it's kind
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: of got its pulse on the.
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: Whatever algorithm they're using.
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: The waves of Hollywood and the shit that's probably actually
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: going to get made.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: So yeah, I can kind of see this.
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: All right, let's do it.
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: Nine to five.
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: There we go.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Done.
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: We'll write Brad Pitt.
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: Dear Brad, we've got a movie idea. Sound good? It's
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: totally original and hip.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: Call me back.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: Love, Brian.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: Check yes. I don't know. You know, there's so many
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: things that you can remake and make. I feel like
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: this is what happens when they sit around to think
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: about making movies. They're like, what if we do this?
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: Because.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: How many times can you do some of this stuff?
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: I'm surprised they haven't already remade, like, the first Iron
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Man movie at this point.
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: I was thinking that when I was making my list.
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: I was like, is it already time for them to reboot?
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: I mean, no, because Marvel's worked. But it's funny that,
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: the DC stuff that keeps getting messed up, and well,
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: even Marvel, if you go back.
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: I mean, Hulk, they totally.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Gave up on in one movie. How many times? Like
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: three times?
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, the one they threw out there, but
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: almost immediately, they were like, nope, we've got this bigger plan.
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: We still want to make it work.
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: Do it again.
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: And even then, the leading man got thrown out. So
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: it's like they already... Remade the movie one. Well, not remade,
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: but like they rebooted again. They still didn't like the actor.
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: They rebooted the actor and like they finally got it
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: to work. And now I keep saying it's because he's
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: not the lead. Like people love Hulk now, but he's
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: never been lead again since then. He's always just brought
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: in to be like the money shot at the end
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: of the movie.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: He's the muscle.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: He's going to show up and just tear the hell
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: out of things. And that's what we're here for. We
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: don't want an hour and a half of other stuff
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: and talking shit.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Although I think the way... But, you know, I don't
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: like the way that they do that. Like, I don't
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: like the way they divvy everybody up and put them
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: into other things. Like, the Iron Man franchise was pretty awesome.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: And then you start to see, like, Iron Man and, like,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: whatever else. And here he is in this, and here
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: he is in that. And then there's a reference to
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: him in whatever.
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: In, like, Doctor Strange.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: He's gonna be in Spider-Man. Right, and I don't like that.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: I just want my Tony Stark.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: You don't understand the universe.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: I do, but I like a clean, the good stuff
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: I just want.
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: To keep pure.
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: That is not how the Marvel Universe works.
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: Everything's about crossover. It's all about planning 12 movies ahead.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Ugh. Well, yeah. I mean, I guess there's some kind
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: of combination of Doctor Strange and Thor, right? Because that's
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: the reference spoiler alert at the end. And it's like, no.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: Which I really love Doctor Strange.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: Doctor Strange, and I like Thor.
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: Have you seen the new Ragnarok trailer? Because, I mean,
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: if you want to see Hulk, I mean, that's.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: Is there Hulk? Oh, yeah.
- 1:20:30Speaker 5: There's Hulk.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: I haven't seen it.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: And, like, that's kind of why.
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: Again, that's why it works.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: Because, like, if there's anything in the MCU that I'm.
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: Bored by, it's the Thor story.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: I don't like those.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: I just, I don't hate them. I'm just like, I'm
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: so bored.
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: I don't care. I don't care about Asgard.
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: I don't care about all this bullshit. When Thor goes
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: to Earth, it's entertaining. Like, I like, I like Hiddleston.
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: Not Hiddleston.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: I like Hemsworth. I like all of them.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you're Hiddleston Hemsworth fan fiction going on.
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: I'm writing that at home. But like, it just works
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: better out of that weird scenario.
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: So at least I just saw the trailer for Ragnarok
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: now and I'm just like, All right, they took all
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: the things that were boring and changed them because now
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: he's getting taken somewhere else. It's not your standard Asgard setup.
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: I like Asgard.
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: They're crammy.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Why do you not like Asgard?
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: Because it's boring.
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: It's cool.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: It's like they're so advanced, but it still looks ancient.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: It looks old-timey.
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: Sorry, I was thinking about Asgard.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: So, I don't know.
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: But that's the thing.
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: All of that seems like it's changed. Like, they've kind
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: of been like, yeah, nobody really cared about that last movie. So,
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: let's change it all up. So, now it's a whole
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: different space. Whole different characters are involved. And what always
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: saves any of these movies, Cram Hulk in there to
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: tear shit up. So, it's all there. So, I'm like,
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: now I'm ready to buy the ticket. Like, I at
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: least want to see what they do with this one.
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: So, I don't get superheroes. You're on the wrong show.
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: I don't get superheroes.
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: I don't get them.
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: So they made a... So the new thing is called Ragnarok? Yes.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: Did you see the other Ragnarok from 2013? I heard
- 1:22:14Speaker 3: it's great. It actually is really good. You and I
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: watched it.
- 1:22:17Speaker 8: What is it?
- 1:22:18Speaker 6: I don't remember it. It's the Norwegian film where they
- 1:22:21Speaker 6: have to.
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: Oh, they gotta get out of town because there's a flood.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: That's the wave. like that. That's called The Wave. That
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: was also Norwegian films.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: Norwegian films are awesome by the way.
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: So we can start a Norwegian series.
- 1:22:34Speaker 8: Oh yeah.
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: We'll start working on that too. Troll Hunter.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: So wait what was Ragnarok?
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: Troll Hunter.
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: That's the one where they are looking for like archaeological
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: stuff and they end up on this island and it's being.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: It's in the middle of the forest and there's a
- 1:22:55Speaker 6: lake that has an island on it.
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: So there you go. Like Those are movies that are
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: cool Norwegian films, and I heard they were going to
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: remake Trollhunter with an American cast.
- 1:23:05Speaker 5: Of course.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: Which would not work.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: It's all about America.
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: I mean, the charm of Trollhunter is like the scenery,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: the cast, the Trollhunter. I mean, who are you going
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: to cast as that guy if you had to remake
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: it with an American?
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: Chris Pratt.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: I mean, what are you going to do?
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: You're going to get Liam Neeson and be like, play the.
- 1:23:26Speaker 6: Same guy you played as the Troll Hunter.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: I'm tired of all these motherfucking trolls. On his motherfucking plane.
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: Troll plane.
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: Liam Neeson's troll plane.
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: Snoop Dogg.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Troll plane.
- 1:23:45Speaker 7: I thought soul plane was pretty funny.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: Uh, We've written so many better movies than what comes out.
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: We have. We have a Canon film studio in this kitchen.
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: Someone give us $ 1 million. At least $ 1 million to
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: make all these movies.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: As we learned from Birdemic, $ 10, 000.
- 1:24:05Speaker 8: $ 10, 000.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: Per movie.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: $ 10, 000. Yeah, Troll Hunter. Did you see that?
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: I know of it.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Would you remake it? Would you remake it?
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: If I was an American producer, of course I would.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: People don't want to read.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: It was so good.
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: Reading. Well, no, then you just do as.
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Well, then you got Dead Snow.
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: Which is why 1970s kung fu films are so good.
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: You just overdub it poorly. I like bad dubbing. And
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: then it's great. I know that pisses off real film fans,
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: but there's.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: Times when I want a bad.
- 1:24:45Speaker 5: Dub and I don't want to read your dumb subtitles.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Amen.
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: I want to see a bad.
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: Dub, so.
- 1:24:52Speaker 5: People hate me. I don't care.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: Shaolin Mantis. That's all I got to say.
- 1:24:56Speaker 5: Damn straight.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: I'm doing the Mantis thing. I love you dearly, Paul,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: but I cannot handle the 70s Kung Fu.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: What is wrong with you?
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: It broke. Something in college broken me because I had
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: a roommate that watched it and I would just be exasperated.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: There's nothing better than 70s Kung Fu. Well, except for
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: Jet Li's remake of 70s Kung Fu.
- 1:25:19Speaker 5: I thought maybe there was a girl out there that
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: liked 70s Kung Fu. I was like, wait a minute.
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: Where is she now?
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: I'm sure there's a ton of them.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I'm just, you know, probably.
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: I mean, I'm sure a few, but I feel like
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: it's a minority.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: No, here's my problem with it. I cannot... It's like
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: whoever did the dubbing, it's all the same people, and
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: it might as well be What's Up Tiger Lily. Like,
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: to me, every 70s kung fu movie is What's Up
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Tiger Lily. Isn't that the name of that movie?
- 1:25:51Speaker 5: Woody Allen?
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: Yeah, where it's like a dubbed film.
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: Does he do Kung Fu?
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: What's the worst casting for a Kung Fu movie?
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: Woody Allen is the Shonen Monk.
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: I love that. Actually, that's great. Can we just talk
- 1:26:08Speaker 3: this out instead of all this fighting?
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: That could be a whole... Wait, so you could do
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: your own overdubs of a Woody Allen film and throw
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: in 70s Kung Fu and make it like a 70s
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Kung Fu film but then have somebody that their style
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: was Woody Allen.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: So they were just all like, A lot of hand flailing.
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: A lot of hand flailing and flicking. Well, I didn't,
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: what I, oh. Okay, what if we cast Woody Allen
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: and Jeff Goldblum in a movie together?
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: And it's just.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: A whole lot, ah, ah, but, but, wait, no, but.
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: You see?
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's got dub dialogue. Like, what's up, Tiger Lily?
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: I mean, it is.
- 1:26:48Speaker 6: But, see, that's part of the charm of any movie.
- 1:26:53Speaker 6: poorly dubbed film is that it's poorly done and so
- 1:26:58Speaker 6: you kind of get lost in this strange weird world
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: where somebody else's voice is being used for an actor
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: in some other weird strange world I mean.
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: It's movie magic it is Movie madness. It also transports
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: you to a place where people's voices don't match.
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: Up with their lips. It's magical.
- 1:27:20Speaker 6: So it's like there's a dichotomy of you're supposed to
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: be taking it seriously, yet you can't stop laughing at
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: the voices.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: It's good.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: There are some that I like that are okay. I
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: just don't know if.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: I.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: Mean, you can't remake that stuff. You're totally right. And
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: look what happens when John Woo tries to sort of
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: do a remake of his... you know, hard-boiled Hong Kong style.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: And we get Replacement Killers with Mira Servino, which sounds
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: like we randomly generated it.
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: Don't talk smack about Fuqua.
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: You gotta get bonus points for anybody named Antoine Fuqua.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: And Chow Yun-Fat, who I love. He's like my Asian crush.
- 1:28:01Speaker 6: I mean, the only people that can remake those films are,
- 1:28:06Speaker 6: you know, current Chinese actors.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Right, but could you remake, like, hard-boiled?
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: Could you? Yes.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: But who would you cast and would it be successful?
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: Nicolas Cage.
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: Was he in that? Did they remake it? Did I
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: miss out on that?
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: You don't understand. I'd like to point out.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: I know a strange, huge encyclopedia knowledge of pop culture,
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: yet there's some things that have totally missed behind me.
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: John Woo is the director of Broken Arrow, starring crazy
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: John Travolta, who's in face-off with Nicolas Cage.
- 1:28:40Speaker 6: I'd like to point out that Keanu Reeves has found
- 1:28:43Speaker 6: a second wind by starring in a lot of Chinese movies, which.
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: He's done very well in. I feel like he's... missed
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: the mark over and over again doing that but i
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: was gonna.
- 1:28:54Speaker 6: Say really i i thought he was a great villain
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: in uh man of tai chi i just feel.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: Like those never really hit like he wants them to
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: and nobody ever.
- 1:29:04Speaker 6: Takes well what do you mean by that like hit
- 1:29:06Speaker 6: here or hit there.
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: I don't know, do American films like that ever hit there?
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:29:13Speaker 5: I feel like they're always made for American audiences, and
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: usually American.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: Audiences just kind of shrug. Because it totally follows the
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: line of the Kung Fu formula, which is.
- 1:29:26Speaker 6: have a bunch of Asian actors as the hero, and
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: then have one random white guy.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: As the villain.
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: Oh, like the Russian guy? Yeah, there's always one.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: But he wasn't Russian?
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: Like every Bruce Lee movie, almost every Bruce Lee movie
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: has a villain white dude, random, usually Russian, but not necessarily.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: And Keanu Reeves, Did it. He nailed it. I mean,
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: to me, the only thing that's really revived his career
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: is finding that formula and just trying to not jam
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: it into an Asian format, but just being like, I'm
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: a white dude. Here's a crazy story about me killing
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: a whole bunch of people. And John Wick is born.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: And like that took off. And like, he's now like
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: back in the game. Like before, like years ago, nobody
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: took him seriously. And, like, all of a sudden, like,
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: not only is he a bankable action star again, but
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: he's actually, like, people legitimately like. Like, for the longest time, like,
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: it became a running joke of, like, well, the movie's
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: pretty good in spite of the fact that, you know,
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: Keanu's the lead. Like, that became a dorky thing that
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: movie fans just accepted. They're like, well, I don't know,
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: he's not my favorite actor, but this movie's actually pretty
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: good in spite of that. I appreciated him in Man
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: of Tai Chi. I feel like he just kept wanting
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: to make that stuff and it never kind of worked
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: for him. Like again, not even quality wise for you,
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: the viewer, but I'm just like, it just never took off.
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: And like nothing ever made him be taken seriously in
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: any other way until John Wick came along. And then
- 1:31:02Speaker 3: he is like, Oh, well, for once I shrugged off
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: that idea and just played a dorky white guy that
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: wants to kill people. And he did it great.
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: So, I don't know.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: I'm glad he's back because I think I've, in recent years,
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: come to respect him more and more. And mostly for
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: things in the real world, like outside of screen. The
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: more I find out about him, he seems like a
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: really kind of fascinating guy. So, with his second wind.
- 1:31:29Speaker 6: He's going to replace Nicolas Cage in National Treasure, the remake.
- 1:31:35Speaker 5: I mean, at this point, it could probably take.
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: What's weird is there's such a fan base for those
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: movies anyway, which I always was like, they made another one?
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: Are there three or two?
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: There's at least two. There's two, definitely.
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: I can't remember if there's a straight-to-video third one.
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: Keanu Reeves in Con Air.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: Was he in Con Air?
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: No, but Keanu Reeves in Face Off.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: No. Was he in The Rock?
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: No, but.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: Isn't that another one of those movies? The same kind
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: of thing where you're on a.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: Could he be the Nicolas Cage? He might be able
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: to be in The Rock because he's pretty... He's not
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: crazy over the top Nicolas Cage. He's just a little wiggy.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: So he could almost do that.
- 1:32:24Speaker 5: You know, I hate to put him in the same.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: But I am imagining Nicolas Cage in Speed.
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: That just happened.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: In my brain, that just happened.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: You can't stop. You can't mess with Speed.
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: Although, yeah, Nicolas Cage would be pretty damn fun in it.
- 1:32:39Speaker 6: If this bus goes below 50 miles an hour, we're
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: all gonna die.
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: No, I kind of want to see this. I want
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: to see this.
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: Damn it.
- 1:32:48Speaker 5: Now I'm trying to cast.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: Who's the new Dennis Hopper?
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: Who's the crazy old guy that we need to.
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: Be in the game?
- 1:32:55Speaker 8: Oh, uh.
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: British actor... Cumberbatch?
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: No, but that works.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: No, the guy that played Al Swearingen on Deadwood.
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: Oh, he's great.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: He's in a lot of things. This doesn't sound like
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: American people at all.
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: See, I'm the worst person to have.
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: The one with the lips.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: He's got two eyes, two ears.
- 1:33:16Speaker 5: I'm going to the computer. We're going to have to
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: go with.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: Oh, I've got to find his name.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: Wait, wait, wait.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: You all totally believe it when I say it.
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: He's dead. Hold on. Hang on.
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: Oh, wait, I got it. Bill Hader.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: Only if he did it as the guy from... It's
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: the thing where you parallel park between two midgets.
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: Oh, Stefan.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Stefan. Actually, Bill Hader in that part would be awesome. Oh,
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: and what's-her-face could be.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: Bill Hader as Stefan as.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Could be Cesar Bullock.
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: Huh, who?
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: Uh... Oh, she was in Skeleton Twins with Bill Hader,
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: and she was a Seriant Live chick.
- 1:33:59Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Why can't I remember anybody's name?
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: That's late.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: Huh?
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it is.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: It's been a long day. You know What's-Her-Face. You know What's-Her-Face.
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: The one with the lips?
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: She's in Ghostbusters.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: Was she in Ghostbusters? Did I say she was in Ghostbusters?
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: No, I just said she was in Ghostbusters.
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: Because her name is Kristen Wiig. She would be great
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: in that. But she's too good for that. All right.
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: I think, number one, we found a whole new running
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: theme that we're going to have to return.
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: To all the time.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: We can't be done.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: But we need to wrap up. So let's pick one more.
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: And then what the hell are we going to do
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: with it? So do we have one big final grand finale?
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: You do the grand finale. It's your show. We just
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: interrupt it.
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: Let's cinema classic.
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: Let's redo Casablanca. Oh, God.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: Yeah, what a bad idea. Let's go to the computer.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: You know I've never seen that.
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: There's something wrong with you. All right, so.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: Is it on a boat? They can't slow down. Get out.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: It's on a boat, right?
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: That's speed two, colon, cruise control. And get, I know
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: it's your house.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: Colon, cruise control.
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: I know it's your house, but get out.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Oh, I'm the easy African queen.
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: Max von Sydow. That is on a bus. Humphrey Bogart
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: on a bus that can't slow down in.
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: The African Queen.
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: Chris Pratt as Humphrey Bogart.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: Here's spit in your eye. Or what does he say?
- 1:35:32Speaker 3: Here's looking at you, Tom.
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 1:35:34Speaker 5: Stop talking, please.
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: No, wait.
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: Okay, so.
- 1:35:38Speaker 3: No, definitely Tom Cruise as Humphrey Bogart. All right.
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: Actually, now I see that happening.
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: They're about the same height. And he's, again, I was
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: trying to get, like, similar age but like Humphrey Bogart
- 1:35:52Speaker 3: always looked.
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: Old he was like 20 and he looked like he
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: was like 50 I.
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: Know he always looked like that that was called the
- 1:35:58Speaker 3: 40s it just brought up Brad Pitt again so I'm
- 1:36:00Speaker 3: like I could alright alright if we do Brad Pitt
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: in Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt can fight it out
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: now who are we going it brought up Femke Janssen
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: I actually like her I don't know about her let's
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: see what else we got here Emma Stone again yeah
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: you can put her in anything at this point.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: She's good you can put her in anything Oh, well, wait.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: If you're going to do that, then just do the Gosling.
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: Oh, God.
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: Not again.
- 1:36:24Speaker 5: The guys.
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: Put the guys in something.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: Those two bastards again? Yeah, why not?
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: Because Gosling's Gosling.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: You know, I love him in Drive.
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: Because he doesn't talk. You're like, man, I hate his voice.
- 1:36:36Speaker 5: But he sure is pretty.
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: I want a movie where he drives around a lot
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: and looks pretty, but he doesn't say nothing.
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: But he was like, there was something kind of scary
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: about him.
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: What was the same filmmaker? Did the.
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: Scandinavian film.
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: Oh, God, I love that movie.
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: Nicholas Winning.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he did Valhalla Rising.
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: Did we talk about that?
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: My God, I love that movie.
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: Such a great movie.
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: Oh, okay, so then you could do the dude from that.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: He's kind of balding, isn't he? Mads Mikkelsen?
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: Mads Mikkelsen.
- 1:37:08Speaker 5: He's getting a lot of stuff now.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: He's good. He deserves a lot of stuff.
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: He's probably about the right age now. That's a weird.
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: I thought he was.
- 1:37:15Speaker 5: That's a weird direction. Well, who plays Sam? Who plays Sam?
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: Okay, Sam.
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: Do we have... I mean, do we want.
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: To mix up the.
- 1:37:25Speaker 3: Because, again, it was... Very specific.
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: Are you doing it at the same time?
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: I don't know. Or are you redoing it completely? You
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: can't tell that story with it not being in the
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: middle of World War II. But couldn't you do it
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: in the middle of... You could.
- 1:37:42Speaker 6: Well, you could rewrite it and have it be another
- 1:37:46Speaker 6: world war.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: Or not a world war. You could have it just
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: in any war situation. You know, you could have... Any
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: war-torn region. Yes, yes.
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: So we're going to the Middle East to redo this.
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: Well, or you could set it like in the 80s
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: in like Bosnia or, you know, Syria, but like you
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: could do a whole.
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: Okay, war-torn romance.
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: Or futuristic sci-fi Casablanca. I'd kind of like to see this, actually.
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: I think the more outrageous, the better. Well, again, that
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: one's going to be really hard to do anyway, so
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: if you're going to do it, go way off in
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: the other direction.
- 1:38:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I love the idea of a combo between.
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: Logan's Run and Casablanca. I'm on board with this.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: You guys, we are like a movie.
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: We are amazing. Logan's Run, Casablanca.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: And let me say this really quick about remakes. I
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: think HBO has done an incredible job with Westworld.
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: Sidebar.
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: There we go.
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: Agreed. Again, not that far-fetched if you're keeping Gosling in
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: the lead because he's already doing the Blade Runner.
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: Reboot update sequel. Yeah, he's the new Blade Runner guy.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: Because he really is a replicant, right? Like it's happened.
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: If so, then why is old guy Harrison Ford still
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: in the movie? He kind of blows the old movie
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: by being there and being an old guy.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: Is he a replicant?
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: Do replicants age? We don't know because they all got killed.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: But is he a replicant?
- 1:39:16Speaker 6: Why wouldn't Ryan Gosling also do Indiana Jones?
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: And you like him.
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: Thank you. It's not just me.
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I like him.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: Because I don't see it.
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: I can see that.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: Okay, but you're okay with him replacing Harrison Ford in
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: Blade Runner.
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: No. No, no, no.
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: He's not replacing Harrison Ford. He's already doing that.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: Is he replacing Harrison Ford? I mean, he's the new...
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: He's not because Harrison Ford is in it.
- 1:39:40Speaker 3: He's the new.
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: Lead guy looking for replicants.
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: So he essentially is. He's the new Harrison Ford. But
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: there is an old Harrison Ford in the movie playing Deckard. Yeah.
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: I mean, Harrison Ford is still Deckard. I mean, he's not,
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: but in practical terms.
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: He is.
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: So.
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: The inheritor of the torch.
- 1:39:59Speaker 5: He's been past the baton.
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: Yes, yes. I don't know.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: Who are you going to put for that, Chris Pratt?
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: You can't substitute Chris.
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: Pratt for everyone.
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: Everyone wants to put Chris Pratt in there.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: I'm going to remake Witness, and I'm going to put
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: Chris Pratt in it.
- 1:40:12Speaker 5: Bradley Cooper in Witness.
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not too far off. I love Witness. That
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: was a great movie.
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: I'm trying to round it out with Sam. Who do
- 1:40:21Speaker 5: we go with for Sam?
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it just depends on where you're setting it.
- 1:40:25Speaker 5: All right, here we go. It just brought up Jackie Chan.
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: We need something new for Jackie Chan to do.
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he doesn't like doing action film anymore.
- 1:40:34Speaker 5: Yeah, he doesn't really have to talk.
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: A whole lot.
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: Sam's just kind of hanging out there.
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: He's his friend. He just needs a friend. So Jackie Chan.
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: To play piano. And again, we don't know what country
- 1:40:44Speaker 3: it's set in yet because we haven't picked a war,
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: so it could be fitting.
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: It's Asia.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: I know. I'm sure there's going to be a war
- 1:40:52Speaker 3: at some point. There's certainly been before. I'm certain it'll happen.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: So... Yeah, but there's actually, you know, I was totally
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: against it, and I've never really seen the whole thing,
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: but I understand the concept. But actually, a remake of
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Casablanca would not be that bad.
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: Again, I like if you bastardize it and do something
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: ridiculous with it, like future sci-fi.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: Sorry, Jackie Chan.
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: With, like, flying cars.
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: No, no, no, I like if you take it and
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: make it a period piece of a more modern setting.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: You know, that's kind of.
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: I want future world, but I want it to have
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: the visuals of like an early 80s future world.
- 1:41:34Speaker 6: Maybe back to Logan Run. Logan's Run future world, but
- 1:41:38Speaker 6: set in the distant future. Michael Caine as the robot guy.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: Oh, and I thought you were going to say as
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: made by Michael Mann. That was my other thing. As
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: channeled and made by Michael Mann.
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: There we go.
- 1:41:51Speaker 6: She was only 15 years old.
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: Do you have to.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: Wind him up?
- 1:41:59Speaker 6: You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: See, the sad thing is you guys just missed the
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: robot arms they were both doing as they said that.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: Robot arms. Last week we had bird wings. This week,
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: robot arms.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: It was the slow bird wings.
- 1:42:14Speaker 5: The visuals, you guys. It's amazing. All right. I think
- 1:42:18Speaker 5: we've done it.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: This is so fun. Do we have to stop? Can
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: we do this next week? What are we talking about
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: next week?
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: Good God, make it stop.
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: I think we should take a break.
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: I actually think we've stumbled upon a fun game that.
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: We need to return to, though.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: So if you guys agree, write in, let us know.
- 1:42:36Speaker 6: We didn't even get a chance to bring up Matt
- 1:42:38Speaker 6: Damon in some whatever he's... Actually, that.
- 1:42:41Speaker 3: Would be a new amendment to the game. It's just announce.
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: An actor and then say, these are all of the
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: remakes that he needs to do and hasn't.
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: What movie can we shove this white dude in that
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: he doesn't fit?
- 1:42:56Speaker 3: Well, it doesn't have to be that white dude. Well, no,
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: I'm saying any of these. It's all white dudes that
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: are our leading men usually. So, like, we'll take a
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: movie that doesn't need a white dude and shove him
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: in there as the savior.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: Well, you know who I think should be the new
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: James Bond?
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: Will you make a blade? Sorry, go ahead. With Matt Damon?
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: Matt Damon's the new Blaine.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: I think the new James Bond should be Idris Elba.
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: And I know everybody's been like, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: That's old news.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: I know. should he's badass like i would love to
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: see him as the next one that to me it
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: will not nothing will do except.
- 1:43:34Speaker 5: By the time they're done making these he's gonna be
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: too old you gotta you gotta crank them out pretty
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: quick and hit the right.
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: Window casting roger morris but he just had so much charm.
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: He didn't he was terrible.
- 1:43:48Speaker 6: But when he ran things moved And it was hot.
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: Look at those jowls moving. That's what I'm into.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: Well, I want some kind of role like that for
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: Idris Elba because I think he is phenomenal. He's so good.
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: And he's so viable. He's like the guy that knows
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: all of it.
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: And this is maybe the moral of this episode and
- 1:44:11Speaker 3: to Hollywood in general. I think that has kind of
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: become the problem is they're so busy remaking a title
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: and a property because it'll make money. And then it
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: just pisses off the old fans, and new fans usually
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: don't know what it is anyway, so they don't respond
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: to the title or the premise. So I'm like, here's
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: my thing. Stop worrying about remaking stuff so much, and
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: focus more on, okay, maybe that's what we want, is
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: just to take that idea and do something original with it.
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: Be like, you know what?
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: Spy movies are cool. Let's not just beat 007 to death.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: Yeah, we're down to, like, what, three spies? We have
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: three spies now.
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: So, yeah, let's just make a spy movie with Idris Elba,
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: and he'll be awesome in it, and just write it.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: Like, don't worry about... To go back to Matt Damon.
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:44:55Speaker 5: Great reboot of.
- 1:44:59Speaker 6: Great reboot of spy films with the Bourne series, you know?
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: Which, again, they've kind of beat to death, too.
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: Yeah, they've beat to death. They totally have. But, you know,
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: it's like, with culture, I mean, we keep telling the
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: same stories over and over. So we've hit where we're...
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: the romans and the greeks and everything it's the same
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: story but you.
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: Can totally like come along do something different and change
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: everything because that is the reason bond is the way
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: he is now is because born came along and people
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: that's why it became the daniel craig bond that it
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: is now because people saw that and they looked back
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: at the old bonds and went these are silly i
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: don't want to watch that anymore i want fast paced
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: i want super fast shot handheld action scenes and they
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: were like, oh, well now we have to totally redo
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: our James Bond to fit the new world that stuff
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: like Bourne came along and changed. So there is a
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: way you can do that and then the random stuff
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: that gets remade has to follow along with the trends
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: that come along and change everything.
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: But the weird thing is, if you did start a
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: whole new character, people would just be like, I don't
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: know who this is. I don't know who that is.
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: We're to the point now where we don't know.
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: But again, like back to my example earlier, if you
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: hit it just right, it works. Like nobody knew who
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: John Wick was. It may have been a mistake to
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: name it him because nobody knew who that character, because
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: I feel like that first one didn't hit until like video.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: I haven't even seen it. Everybody wrote it off in
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: the theater. I had no idea what it was.
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: It was a name and nobody knows that name.
- 1:46:25Speaker 5: Michael Collins, John Wick, whatever. I don't know the difference.
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: So it's like sometimes just giving it that person's name
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: when you don't know that person is a mistake, I
- 1:46:32Speaker 3: feel like. And I think it fell into that category.
- 1:46:34Speaker 3: And then it was like one of those people went, eh,
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: I'll throw a dollar at it at the red box.
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: And they watched it and realized it's an amazing action
- 1:46:42Speaker 3: movie and has great, like again for a simplified action
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: movie still has great character development in this little span
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: of time that we have to spend with this character
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: and delivers on it.
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: So it's like, you can do that. You can take
- 1:46:55Speaker 5: an original property, write it well and just shoot a
- 1:46:58Speaker 5: good action movie and it'll work.
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: But again, it's the marketing game. It's like I don't
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: know that naming it the character's name when nobody knows
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: who that character is is a good idea. Did you
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: see the Jack Reacher stuff? I've seen the first movie.
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: I didn't see the second one.
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: I haven't seen the second one. Changed hands. It's not
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: even the same director. I actually was surprised that I
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: enjoyed the first one. yeah i mean that's the same
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: but it's the same but at least that like that
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: series of books is popular by his name so like
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: i can see they're at least feeding off of again
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: it's more of an ian fleming thing of let's take
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: this novel and this character and well put a person
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: to it so born series was like that too yeah
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: so i mean it it i don't know i think
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: it's just about finding a way to do stuff original
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: even if you're stealing from old ideas, which is what
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: Hollywood's been doing for generations now.
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: You know, in 20 years, somebody's going to make a
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: kick-ass remake of the Harry Potter movies.
- 1:47:56Speaker 5: I hope it has old Daniel Radcliffe. I hope Wizard.
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: It's a wizard.
- 1:48:00Speaker 3: That would be in our lives. I hope it is
- 1:48:03Speaker 3: in 3D or holographic.
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: No, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: What I mean is like those stories, those Harry Potter
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: stories were good. Like the books were a little bit
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: darker than the movies, I think sometimes, and like I
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: think you could revisit those later on and like make
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: them something even better though those movies were magical and
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: like really captured the initial spirit I think there's more
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: there I should probably.
- 1:48:26Speaker 5: Shut up Emma Watson's now teaching the class I'm liking
- 1:48:31Speaker 5: this already mostly just Emma Watson in anything she wants
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: to do she's like.
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: The poor man's Natalie Portman.
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: She's like half her age. What are you talking about?
- 1:48:43Speaker 5: Well, I don't know.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: Is she? Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: She is.
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: No, really. Do the math. Yeah, I know.
- 1:48:49Speaker 9: It's hard.
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: They're not in the same category anymore.
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: I don't want to do that. Natalie Portman's not old.
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: Yeah, in Hollywood terms, she is.
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: Older. And she has children. Now she has a couple kids, right?
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: Can you imagine? How dare her? Children. No, but what
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: I mean is those stories are good, and it's another
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: instance of the retelling, you know, like where we find
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: things that we love and kind of.
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: I mean, it is. The wizarding world is so much
- 1:49:13Speaker 3: bigger than even those movies.
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: Even those books. It's a theme park, for God's sake.
- 1:49:19Speaker 3: It is a huge world that I don't think is
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: going anywhere in any near future. Oh, no. We're going
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: to keep coming back to it, even if it's offshoot movies,
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: which we're already getting now.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: Which, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was kind
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: of my favorite Harry Potter film.
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: We're going to be writing checks to J.K. Rowling for
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: quite some time.
- 1:49:35Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: Cheap.
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: Better have some.
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: Kids to keep getting the money down the line.
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Somebody's going to be getting money off of
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: this for a long time. She has a legacy now.
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: She's in the Spielberg, Lucas realm. Yeah.
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: Yeah. I think so. So, that's where we're taking this.
- 1:49:57Speaker 5: Make good stuff.
- 1:49:59Speaker 3: Do it.
- 1:49:59Speaker 5: May or may not be any of those ideas we
- 1:50:01Speaker 5: just threw out.
- 1:50:02Speaker 3: There, but.
- 1:50:04Speaker 5: If you'd like to make these movies and fund them,
- 1:50:07Speaker 5: get a hold of us right now.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:50:08Speaker 5: Start sending your checks now.
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: We can make dioramas.
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: I got some crazy software I could do some.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: Give us money to make dioramas and shadow boxes.
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: I mean, if I could do all these stories and
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: puppet show, I'm up for that, too, because I'm.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: All about it.
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: That would be okay. I think you could retail office
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: space with puppets.
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:50:24Speaker 5: That would totally work.
- 1:50:25Speaker 3: So if you guys want to make this happen, yeah,
- 1:50:27Speaker 3: just let it. Or, you know, again, just shout out
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: to Hollywood. Get a hold of us. We can make
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: all these things come true.
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: Oh, it's our new website. Like last time we came
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: up with a.
- 1:50:36Speaker 5: Every week we come up with a new website.
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: Last week was hashtag... Holewithasheet.com.
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: Let's not go out on that again.
- 1:50:46Speaker 5: We have to wrap up.
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: What's this week?
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: Shout out to Hollywood. I don't know. He said it
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: and I forgot.
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: All right. So that's where we're pausing this.
- 1:50:58Speaker 5: We should return to this game or whatever the hell
- 1:51:01Speaker 5: it is in the near future.
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: So.
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: If you agree, let us know.
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next time.
- 1:51:08Speaker 5: Same Geek Feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:51:39Speaker 9: Let's do it again Before we do it again Do
- 1:51:44Speaker 9: it again Do it Let's do it.
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: Again Sometimes rain Groovin' when I.
- 1:52:01Speaker 9: Hear the sound Like you and me, baby Gettin' down
- 1:52:07Speaker 9: with the sound Oh, the smell of the morning flower
- 1:52:13Speaker 9: As we pass away the hour I wanna.
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: Do it again, do it again, do it Let's do
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: it in.
- 1:52:22Speaker 9: The morning Sweet breeze in the summertime Feel your sweet face.
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: All laid up next to mine.
- 1:52:33Speaker 8: Sweet love in the midnight. Put you to sleep come
- 1:52:37Speaker 8: morning light.
- 1:52:39Speaker 9: No worries about nothing.
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: Just getting good.
- 1:52:45Speaker 8: Just getting good. Just getting good love.
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: Do it. Do it again.
- 1:52:54Speaker 9: Do it again. Do it. Now I like you lady.
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: So if I knew your pretty.
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: Hair, if you don't want to compliment, just.
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: Dig it in and close your hair. I'm just a.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: Man now, don't you fear.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: I can love you now, don't you fear.
- 1:53:15Speaker 3: Do it again.
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: Do it.
- 1:53:17Speaker 6: Do it.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: I want to do it again. Oh, oh, oh.
- 1:53:23Speaker 9: Do it. Oh, oh, oh.
- 1:53:31Speaker 8: Do it.
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: Again. Do it again.
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: Do it again.
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: Like a hammer on the.
- 1:53:46Speaker 8: Block, the love began to rock.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: Give this sister love and pride. Feel good and satisfied.
