- The DECAF Network: Hey, it's Dex from the Checkpoint and Reboot Player One. And today's question is a bit of a doozy. Now, if you're asking yourself questions like these, we discuss these questions and many more every Wednesday. You can find out more by going to tc.rebootplayer1.com. And today's question is Have I become too comfortable? Have I become too comfortable? Okay, if I was to answer that in a single word, I would have to say yes. I'd have to say yes because I started the checkpoint and reboot player one and things that are closely related to it many years ago. Probably two, maybe three years ago, some inkling of it hatched. Way back then. I started to put things together. I created a bit of a course. I put some material around it and I showed some people. And it's been this slow process. I've done courses. ⁓ I took more courses, I signed up for things, and I used that knowledge and I I put it to this thing that I was building. And ⁓ you know, two, three years later, it's it's still It's still there. It's it's much bigger than what it was initially. ⁓ it's you know, it's it's compared to what it was at the start, it's a lot different. And could I have done all of that in half the time? Probably, maybe less. Like it could have even happened, you know, in as little as six months. And the reason why I think it's happened or why it's taken so long is because I have become too comfortable. Now, this is a topic that I've spoken about recently with a friend a couple of times and a a a bunch of different friends. And it's the concept of ⁓ desperation and drive and determination. And I think the question was, ⁓ what is what what is your biggest driver for change. Is it ⁓ dedication or is it desperation? I think it was something along those lines. Anyway, the ⁓ the answer, at least for me anyway, and I think most people, was desperation. And and we had some examples. You know, this this business that I'm starting is ⁓ is a side hustle for now. Like I said, two, three years. That's how long it's so far it's been it's taken to to get to this point. And that's because I had another job to do. You know, there's another job there that's bringing in money that the money that's used just to pay off bills and the mortgages and school fees, just like everything. And so my side hustle is two three years down the track. Now I was building this company based off dedication. I was dedicated to build it in between the times that I wasn't working this other job. And so far three years in. Hmm. I'm I'm pretty happy with it. Now, had I not had that job, had all of my clients gone elsewhere, had I lost everything. Then I'd be operating from a place of desperation. And then you would have seen this particular course, community, whatever it is, like sprout like a phoenix and basically be a business pretty much overnight. I would have rung up everybody I knew, told them about it, I would have said to them, Hey, I'm trying to start this thing because I'm desperate, because this is my situation and I need to make money because my mortgage is coming up or the school fees are due. Or something else is due and I don't have the money. That's the difference. And so to answer the original question of have I become too comfortable, I'd probably say yeah. Definitely say yeah. And so what I've been trying to do is somehow get to a point where I have enough energy, I have enough passion and dedication. To try and operate as close as I can to desperation without actually having to be desperate. And I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it's extremely difficult. For me anyway. For other people, you know, there's there's probably people out there, there are probably people out there that can ⁓ that can work from a a felt place of desperation. You know, I've I think in my age and most people my age, sleep is the most important thing. I I I think that goes without saying. And it's not feasible for me to try and stay up every night till twelve AM, one AM, two A. ⁓ to try and work on this idea, to try and build up reboot player one and the checkpoint. It it just wouldn't work because the you know The hours leading up to, you know, those early morning hours, productivity would be pretty much a zero. I'd be I I don't know, like my mind would be mush. It wouldn't be worth me staying up that late because nothing of any substance will come out. For some people, they can do that. They can work their nine to five and then come home and then just power on through and survive off the little sleep. But it'll catch up with you somewhere. So what I'd really love to try and do is somehow get to that level of of drive of productivity that's based off the felt ⁓ emotion of desperation. Because when you operate from that place, everything becomes an opportunity. You know, you're wide open because you're looking to make money, you're looking to survive, you're looking to just basically sign somebody up because you need that money. And that's something that I'm still struggling to do because my IT job is is good. Like I've got great clients. I enjoy the work. but the the coaching thing, this reboot play one, this checkpoint, this community, I love it too. ⁓ but is it paying the bills? No. But if my IT main job suddenly went away, would I try and get the checkpoint and reboot player one monetized? Like absolutely. I would call everybody on my phone and say, This is what I'm trying to do. Do you know of anybody that this can help? Can you please let them know? And I've been slowly starting to do some of that stuff now, just consciously knowing, okay, well how would I operate had you know, should I be in this situation? But look, it's still difficult because there are certain things that I think I wouldn't say I'm I'm ashamed to do, but that ⁓ out of character is probably a best way to say it. And at some point I will probably do it. I it's it's an internal struggle that I have. ⁓ it's almost like how can I how can I relay this? I remember sending emails out to people that I know about reboot player one at the start. Let's just say I have an email list of ten as an example for like a round number. Five people I knew immediately. I want to send it to these five people because like they'll get it. So I'll send it off to five. The other five, I'll be like, I don't know. I don't know if I should send it to that person because, you know, I'm I'm a little bit embarrassed. They then maybe as this other person. I I I don't want their opinion. Well, this person there, they might, I don't know, they might steal my idea. I I don't want to tell them. ⁓ and this person is actually doing what it is that I want to do. I don't want to let them know because they might steal it as well, or they just might want to laugh at me. So I have had all of these ⁓ I had all of these thoughts in my head about this other five people that I've not sent the email to. And as the days go on, I was like, Okay, well I'll send it to that person. Like I've I've worked past that blockage in my head to that the six people. Then the day after that, the other two people, I'll I'll send it to them too. Because like fuck it. I'll just send it. So now there's eight people. And eventually I'll get through that list of ten. And so that's where I'm at with certain things about if I was working from a place of desperation, these are the things that I would do. Literally call up everybody. I've not done that, and I don't know if I will. I might, I should. But I don't know. That's an example of one of the things. I would email literally everybody. I would spam people. I would say, please, can you does anybody know? I would tell friends. I would tell my family. See, I haven't yeah. Have I become have I become too comfortable? Absolutely. Am I trying to work from a place of discomfort slash desperation? Yeah, I'm trying to I'm I'm trying to get to that point because I know that I'll eventually get there. Big but if I can try and get there sooner rather than later, that would help. So if anybody out there has any ideas on how to operate from a felt place of desperation, even though I'm not actually in a desperate ⁓ situation, let me know. And ⁓ if you have questions like these that you ask yourself and or know somebody that has, please invite them on to well, please invite them to go to one of the checkpoints, ⁓ tc. rebootplay one dot com. All the details there. I'm Dex. I will chat to you later on. Bye.
