  Speaker 3: on the island, putting tents up right now, putting signs up,

  Speaker 3: and getting ready for Broadfast, which is going to start

  Speaker 3: just in four days. Man.

  Speaker 1: We got a few days until Broadfast kicks off, and

  Speaker 1: we'll talk about some of the entertainment, some of the

  Speaker 1: great features. But I probably the biggest part of Broadfast

  Speaker 1: that maybe not a lot of people know, which is

  Speaker 1: how Broadfast operates. And it's a huge volunteer opportunity for

  Speaker 1: a lot of folks. And I know Tim getting people

  Speaker 1: on board to volunteer, and I know a lot of
• 0:52
  Speaker 1: great charities benefit through Broadfast. You need more, You guys
• 0:56
  Speaker 1: need more volunteers, don't you.

  Speaker 3: Yeah, we do. We've got we got about nineteen hundred

  Speaker 3: volunteers at volunteer throughout the weekend and we'll probably raise
• 1:06
  Speaker 3: a little bit over one hundred thousand dollars this weekend

  Speaker 3: for the five oh one c threes that they volunteer for.

  Speaker 3: Right now, we really need help, I want to say.

  Speaker 3: On Sunday night, you can just go to the web

  Speaker 3: that charity, you get the coveted Broadfast T shirt, You

  Speaker 3: then you get to Broadfast and be with you know,

  Speaker 3: all the all the fans of Broadfast down here on.

  Speaker 1: The island, and it's always you know, I get a

  Speaker 1: chance each year I get out just to kind of

  Speaker 1: watch some of the shows, but also get a chance

  Speaker 1: for take You Brought to Workday, which is because a

  Speaker 1: giant event onto itself kind of the kickoff to the weekend.

  Speaker 1: And I always love seeing the volunteers. They're all having
• 2:07
  Speaker 1: such a good time and of course folks working the
• 2:09
  Speaker 1: grill and helping direct traffic and collecting money. I mean,
• 2:13
  Speaker 1: uh they not only is it just a fun day,
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: but clearly a very very up, great opportunity for charity
• 2:21
  Speaker 1: as well. Let's talk about some of the music events
• 2:24
  Speaker 1: that you guys have. I always love with Broadfast. You
• 2:26
  Speaker 1: get a variety of different artists, whether it's Steven Adler
• 2:30
  Speaker 1: from Guns n' Roses or Ski low. I saw a
• 2:33
  Speaker 1: digital underground with the Humpty Dance. I'm gonna bet at
• 2:37
  Speaker 1: Broadfast this year. A lot of work goes in also
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: to putting putting the music portion of this together, doesn't.

  Speaker 3: It Tim, Yeah, yeah it does. I'll just I'll touch

  Speaker 3: base on just on take your back to Work Day,

  Speaker 3: so that's just Friday. But we got something new this

  Speaker 3: year for it is we've got a fast lane. So

  Speaker 3: You know, there's a you know, Ace Freeley, Tyler Farr,

  Speaker 3: and then Steven Adler for Guns Roses is going to

  Speaker 3: be here this year, and then Danny Goki, who is

  Speaker 3: an American idol you know from Milwaukee, pretty famous local

  Speaker 3: boys going to be here. So we'll have seventy different

  Speaker 3: acts playing on three stages, music all weekend long. So
• 4:04
  Speaker 3: it should be a lot of fun.

  Speaker 2: It looks like it's going to be an absolutely amazing event. Again.

  Speaker 1: It kicks off with Take Your Brought to Work Day

  Speaker 3: Yeah, we do so a lot of our you know,

  Speaker 3: for Broadfast celebrities are a lot of the people that

  Speaker 3: work for our community. So you'll you'll see your your

  Speaker 3: alders will be here, Uh, your county supervisors will be here.

  Speaker 3: The the the person that's in charge of, you know,
• 4:55
  Speaker 3: cleaning the streets or picking up trash, all of those
• 4:58
  Speaker 3: department heads will be the celebrity cashiers. So the people

  Speaker 3: that work for us, for the community are what Broadfast
• 5:05
  Speaker 3: considers our celebrities. And then of course we have you know,

  Speaker 3: TV hosts and radio hosts and all that that'll be
• 5:11
  Speaker 3: celebrities too. But we have a lot of other fun
• 5:13
  Speaker 3: things to do with broadcast for the whole family. We've
• 5:16
  Speaker 3: got a farm zone so you can pet and feed animals.

  Speaker 3: Last year we had a zebra there. We got the
• 5:22
  Speaker 3: of course, the carnival kid zone, lots of fun things
• 5:25
  Speaker 3: to do, meeting Bucky Badger and mascots and all that.

  Speaker 3: A sports zone, we've got the World's well, I don't
• 5:32
  Speaker 3: say the world was almost Wisconsin's largest volleyball tournament. That's
• 5:36
  Speaker 3: happening on Saturday. We've got a five k and a
• 5:39
  Speaker 3: ten k run, a kids run, a dog jog, just
• 5:44
  Speaker 3: a lot of fun things. And then of course Sunday
• 5:47
  Speaker 3: night we've got fireworks. So that's Sunday Saturday night, we
• 5:52
  Speaker 3: have fireworks at nine oh five and so one of
• 5:56
  Speaker 3: the best fireworks shows in Madison are so of encourage
• 5:59
  Speaker 3: everybody just to come out for that too.

  Speaker 1: It is a great weekend and a great event and

  Speaker 1: of course the official kickoff of summer here in Madison,

  Speaker 1: southern Wisconsin, across the country.

  Speaker 1: One final thing I do want to talk I actually

  Speaker 1: do want to talk a little bit more about charity.

  Speaker 1: But you mentioned some of the headliners, and one of

  Speaker 1: the cool things that you guys do with broadcast is

  Speaker 1: for folks that are you know, you talk about some

  Speaker 1: big names and some just some great talent that you

  Speaker 1: have coming to Broadfast. You guys have VIP passes and

  Speaker 1: other other opportunities. I know some of some of them

  Speaker 1: are sold out quite quickly and some of them are
• 6:32
  Speaker 1: very limited.

  Speaker 2: But for folks that are that are quick.

  Speaker 1: So you want to definitely obviously a very popular, a

  Speaker 1: very strong community connection and a very very strong charitable

  Speaker 1: connection as well.

  Speaker 2: Hasn't it.

  Speaker 3: Yeah, so yeah, this is our forty third year and yeah,

  Speaker 3: it was started by my dad and it was just
• 8:17
  Speaker 3: it was a simple idea. It was really it was
• 8:20
  Speaker 3: just a customer appreciation event in front of a store
• 8:24
  Speaker 3: to basically say thank you to his customers. And he
• 8:29
  Speaker 3: sold brats for like fifty cents and pops for a quarter.
• 8:34
  Speaker 3: And every year it just, you know, it just got
• 8:37
  Speaker 3: bigger and bigger and bigger, and then we added tables
• 8:42
  Speaker 3: and we got more grills, and then we had to
• 8:44
  Speaker 3: get volunteers. And you fast forward to forty three years
• 8:48
  Speaker 3: later and we'll probably have over one hundred thousand people,
• 8:53
  Speaker 3: you know, come to Willow Island. You know, we have
• 8:56
  Speaker 3: three you know, huge stages with all the these you know,
• 9:01
  Speaker 3: these you know, amazing entertainers. And the DNA is still
• 9:06
  Speaker 3: basically the same. It's it's you know, it's it's free.

  Speaker 3: The parking is free, the music is free, the emission
• 9:15
  Speaker 3: is free. You know, we'd like you to buy a brat.

  Speaker 3: We'd like you to buy a beverage if you if

  Speaker 3: you come, but you don't have to. You can just

  Speaker 3: kind of come down and enjoy community, enjoy some great music,

  Speaker 3: enjoy you know, being out with family and friends and

  Speaker 3: and doing what Wisconsin people do, which is eave bratts

  Speaker 3: and you know, and listen to music over Memorial Day weekends.

  Speaker 3: So and then since that time, we've almost raised about,

  Speaker 3: you know, all out of basically just a brat and

  Speaker 3: a beverage, and all of that money stays right here

  Speaker 3: in Dane County. We have about one hundred five o'

  Speaker 3: one c threes and people donate their time. I'm two

  Speaker 3: d cyber one c threes and that's how we raise

  Speaker 3: money for them. So it's done a lot of really

  Speaker 3: great things for the community and the DNA is basically

  Speaker 3: the same as what it was when my dad started
