- 0:02Speaker 1: Good m check check. We roun boutleg Cavs show were
- 0:08Speaker 1: in the building, special guests in here. We got the
- 0:12Speaker 1: homie Bozo. I appreciate it. They welcome, welcome. You just
- 0:15Speaker 1: dropped a new project too, Yes, sure Thursday. Well, by
- 0:19Speaker 1: the time this comes out, the project will be out.
- 0:21Speaker 1: No last year, oh last Thursday, so it's already out. Okay,
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm like, wait, twenty ninth. We're in the middle of October,
- 0:26Speaker 1: the beginning of October. Well, shit, welcome man. I know
- 0:28Speaker 1: we were trying to make it happen for a while. Yeah,
- 0:30Speaker 1: I appreciate it, yes, sir. For people, I'm like that
- 0:33Speaker 1: Joe was winning. So no, it's all good man. Nah,
- 0:35Speaker 1: it's how for people who don't know who you are,
- 0:39Speaker 1: where you're from, how long you've been making music, give
- 0:41Speaker 1: me kind of just like a background front. So I
- 0:45Speaker 1: go by the artist thing. Well my hood name too, Bozo.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I kept my handle, you know, Yeah, it means too
- 0:49Speaker 1: much to me. I'm from the city of People, Rivera, Southeast,
- 0:51Speaker 1: Los Angeles, born and raised bread in my hood. I've
- 0:55Speaker 1: been wrapping. I got signed the university in two thousand
- 0:57Speaker 1: and four. I was four months into my idea I
- 1:01Speaker 1: caught a turned for string of arm robberies and then
- 1:04Speaker 1: saw with the any weapon. I went to prison for
- 1:07Speaker 1: ten years two months. I parode in the summer of
- 1:10Speaker 1: twenty fifteen, and I hit the ground running and I've
- 1:13Speaker 1: been doing my shit ever since independently. Wow was it
- 1:17Speaker 1: hard to I feel like if you do ten years
- 1:21Speaker 1: in prison kind of like the music industry passes you by,
- 1:24Speaker 1: technology passes you by. Before you went in, you were
- 1:27Speaker 1: able to still sell CDs and shit, and you know,
- 1:30Speaker 1: MySpace was still popping. Was it hard for you to
- 1:32Speaker 1: like get the motivation to pick back up and like
- 1:35Speaker 1: get back on the grind like when you got out.
- 1:39Speaker 1: When I went to prison, I stopped writing music, Like
- 1:41Speaker 1: I wasn't one of them dudes in prison like with
- 1:43Speaker 1: fucking notebooks. Yeah, because my situation, I didn't know if
- 1:47Speaker 1: I was gonna make it home. Col happened, you feel me? Yeah?
- 1:50Speaker 1: I came home early. I was supposed to do way more,
- 1:52Speaker 1: but it was changed and I was able to come
- 1:55Speaker 1: home after ten years. But when I came home, the
- 2:00Speaker 1: access to like well, I'm sure you know like back
- 2:04Speaker 1: in the days it was different to the distribution, Well,
- 2:06Speaker 1: it was a lot more difficult to release music, yeah
- 2:08Speaker 1: to yes, Yeah, to distribute your music legitimately, it was
- 2:11Speaker 1: shit if you didn't have a plug, like it was hard.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And then yeah, so that was encouraging, you know, and
- 2:17Speaker 1: then YouTube didn't exist, didn't exist when I went to prison.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So YouTube was extremely welcoming to to me because I
- 2:25Speaker 1: felt like there was a void in my community, specifically
- 2:28Speaker 1: of growth and transitioning to different sounds and new modern sounds.
- 2:34Speaker 1: You know, I felt like we were stuck in quick sounds,
- 2:36Speaker 1: like nobody was really pushing the envelope, nobody was really
- 2:39Speaker 1: trying to take risks, you know what I mean as
- 2:41Speaker 1: far as music. So when I came home, I saw
- 2:44Speaker 1: a void and I just took it as a as
- 2:45Speaker 1: an advantage. What would you say, like after you got
- 2:48Speaker 1: out was a moment of success in the music industry
- 2:52Speaker 1: that kind of like made you realize, oh, you were
- 2:54Speaker 1: kind of onto something. You had something here that might work.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You know. Obviously you were signed before you went to prison.
- 2:58Speaker 1: But the first feature with company, okay, my first feature
- 3:02Speaker 1: with Comptand was like early when I came out and
- 3:05Speaker 1: Compton A D had just dropped that you had never
- 3:08Speaker 1: had a thug, Yeah, so that shit was popping. So
- 3:12Speaker 1: through a mutual friend of ours, PC and T though
- 3:15Speaker 1: Man he leaved us up, don't. Man believed the night
- 3:18Speaker 1: talent from the gate, so he started bringing me and
- 3:21Speaker 1: he was always like, you know, with what I represent,
- 3:24Speaker 1: there's always the racial factor, like a are you open
- 3:27Speaker 1: to work with these people? These people? This me myself, like,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm down to do business with Arabit as long as
- 3:32Speaker 1: it's a good business, right, we could stand on it,
- 3:34Speaker 1: you know what I mean at the end of the day. So, yeah,
- 3:36Speaker 1: when I did something with Compton a D and then
- 3:39Speaker 1: all my features came back to mac literally like it
- 3:41Speaker 1: was compin a D. Then at the Joe's Moses, then
- 3:43Speaker 1: at the G prequel. Then I did r J and
- 3:46Speaker 1: shit fifteen sixteen, twenty seventeen. Those are the guys. And
- 3:50Speaker 1: then and by the way, still are the guys. Shout
- 3:52Speaker 1: out to those Joe Moses just dropped his album. RJ's
- 3:54Speaker 1: Album's coming soon. Peric was about to go on to work. Yeah,
- 3:57Speaker 1: so you could imagine I'm sitting in the yard and
- 4:01Speaker 1: all their albums are coming my way, but they weren't around,
- 4:04Speaker 1: you know, right, right, right right, So to come home
- 4:06Speaker 1: and be able to have the luxury to work with
- 4:09Speaker 1: them was dope. You know what I'm saying, it was
- 4:11Speaker 1: it was very encouraging. Yeah, I was onto something. Are
- 4:14Speaker 1: you as like an independent artist, what are some of
- 4:18Speaker 1: the things that you've like learned over the last like
- 4:21Speaker 1: four or five years, Because I feel like when you're independent,
- 4:24Speaker 1: sometimes you don't have the like you don't have the
- 4:27Speaker 1: luxury of having a building behind you that kind of
- 4:30Speaker 1: already knows what not to do and what to do.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You got to kind of like just keep it moving
- 4:35Speaker 1: when you when you, yeah, you go through growing page.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You got to learn from your mistakes. What are some
- 4:39Speaker 1: of the biggest things you've you've you've learned so far?
- 4:41Speaker 1: The biggest thing that well, what I did this time
- 4:43Speaker 1: that I came home. I try to rationalize my situation,
- 4:47Speaker 1: so I tell myself, all right, there's no label behind
- 4:49Speaker 1: you no more. We're definitely trying to go back to
- 4:52Speaker 1: the pen for another ten So what are we gonna do?
- 4:55Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. All Right, I put myself
- 4:56Speaker 1: in college for a year, and I got myself in
- 5:00Speaker 1: to a good field where I can generate enough money
- 5:02Speaker 1: to become my own label. And you feel I'm saying,
- 5:04Speaker 1: what was that electrical? I do electrical? Oh shit, yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 1: hell yeah, So you're electrician, yes, sir, hell yeah, Wow,
- 5:11Speaker 1: that's fire yeah so so yeah. So I put myself
- 5:15Speaker 1: to calls, like I said, because in my experience before,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I felt like other people were dictating the path of
- 5:23Speaker 1: my music and how it was going, in the direction
- 5:25Speaker 1: it was going in, or when I could do this
- 5:27Speaker 1: or in that studio time for that matter. So I
- 5:32Speaker 1: didn't feel like I didn't feel like begging dog like like.
- 5:35Speaker 1: And I don't mean begging like in the wrong way.
- 5:37Speaker 1: What I mean. It's like I didn't want to put
- 5:38Speaker 1: myself in a bonum position and people be looking at
- 5:41Speaker 1: me like, oh, I'm a desperate looking for help. So
- 5:45Speaker 1: I did my shit independently. I funded my own shit
- 5:48Speaker 1: legitimately with money I was doing through my nine to
- 5:50Speaker 1: fives and long shifts I was pulling. But at the
- 5:53Speaker 1: same time, I have such a strong standing reputation in
- 5:57Speaker 1: streets that it wasn't hard for me to like get
- 6:00Speaker 1: direct lines to so and so sood. I've dealt with
- 6:04Speaker 1: people from AWE, from cribs to blood to everything on
- 6:07Speaker 1: the streets before, so it wasn't hard for me to
- 6:10Speaker 1: connect those dots. So I just worked with what I had.
- 6:13Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I took advantage of the
- 6:15Speaker 1: pros that I did have and the cons I just
- 6:17Speaker 1: try to evolve them into some that could become an advantage. Also,
- 6:20Speaker 1: you feel say, I feel like most people would not uh.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I feel like having a practical trade to have to
- 6:29Speaker 1: fund your dream is like something that most people wouldn't glorify. Well,
- 6:34Speaker 1: I did it the other way before. And then and
- 6:36Speaker 1: you're landed in prison robberies and I did over a decade,
- 6:40Speaker 1: you saw what the Yeah you saw with the downside. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 1: reality was like, yeah, you could be a risk taker,
- 6:46Speaker 1: but the risk that we're taking ship are long lasting consequence,
- 6:51Speaker 1: And so I didn't you know, And then you come
- 6:54Speaker 1: home to your family. You got things like after a decade,
- 6:57Speaker 1: my dad died, you know, my brother in law died,
- 6:59Speaker 1: and my grandma died, my cousin died, Like ship, the
- 7:01Speaker 1: house was empty, you feel me. So I came home
- 7:05Speaker 1: to a family in shambles, like women that didn't have
- 7:07Speaker 1: no male in the house. There was no uncle that
- 7:10Speaker 1: loved the nieces, there was no dad that loved their kids.
- 7:12Speaker 1: There was no older brother to look over my sister,
- 7:15Speaker 1: you feel, I'm saying, so with that, I put my
- 7:17Speaker 1: ego on, my pride to the side, you feel. I'm saying,
- 7:19Speaker 1: like I felt like I had a bigger purpose. You
- 7:20Speaker 1: know that's big man. Yeah, I think like too, just
- 7:23Speaker 1: for anybody watching, like it's okay to figure out, Well,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I think it's I think it's I think it's I
- 7:29Speaker 1: think that it's not okay not to do it legitimately
- 7:33Speaker 1: because as a business, let's say you're doing real estate
- 7:35Speaker 1: bro right, and you're buying houses to flip and ship,
- 7:38Speaker 1: of course, but you're doing that off of illegitimate money.
- 7:41Speaker 1: One day they're gonna trade the paper trailers to come
- 7:44Speaker 1: back to you, or they're gonna catch you, you feel, saying,
- 7:47Speaker 1: You're just gonna get caught of the red light without
- 7:48Speaker 1: the right blinker on and it's a wrap, you feel.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I'm saying, so the margin of error is fucking yeah,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and like you you move around stress the fuck stress? Yeah, well,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I did you know what I mean? Like the home,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I'll tell you, like they came for me, they rated
- 8:00Speaker 1: all my pads. I had to fucking flee to Colorado
- 8:04Speaker 1: with an advance from the label. I ended up burning
- 8:06Speaker 1: the label for their advance on that. They never got
- 8:08Speaker 1: to recoop off my ship universal and cost so so yeah,
- 8:13Speaker 1: so as a business model, it's it's not a good
- 8:16Speaker 1: model too, you know what I mean to go And
- 8:18Speaker 1: I know a lot of people do it, and I
- 8:19Speaker 1: know it's glorified in this business, but I don't know, Bro,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I just can't do it again, you feel saying I'm
- 8:26Speaker 1: not ready for that trip? You know. Yeah, that's too good.
- 8:29Speaker 1: More people should preach what you're preacher. Man, A lot
- 8:33Speaker 1: of people haven't been through what I've been through. That's
- 8:34Speaker 1: why they don't. That's real. If they knew better, they
- 8:36Speaker 1: would they would say better, you feel saying, but they don't.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Would you say that? Because what originally? How much time
- 8:42Speaker 1: are you facing? You said you got? I'm thirty five
- 8:44Speaker 1: of life? Thirty five life because I'm a two I'm
- 8:46Speaker 1: a three striker and I've been busted for other robberies
- 8:49Speaker 1: as a kid, I grew up without a household, you know,
- 8:51Speaker 1: so I've had to survive. I think, what it doesn't matter,
- 8:59Speaker 1: that red thing don't matter, no matter, it just it
- 9:01Speaker 1: just mutes out of the headphones. Yeah, I just wanted
- 9:05Speaker 1: to make sure. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's fine.
- 9:09Speaker 1: So that red button only mutes the headphones. Does that
- 9:12Speaker 1: make sense? Yeah, because you heard it in the headphones. Yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 1: you're good, You're good. All right, I'm sorry. So you
- 9:17Speaker 1: were supposed to do thirty five because for people who
- 9:19Speaker 1: don't know, in Cali they had the three strikes. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:22Speaker 1: three strike laws. Still is that? Still? It is? When like,
- 9:25Speaker 1: let's say that you understand the law is like a
- 9:28Speaker 1: chaining fence. You know, it has many different loops, directions
- 9:31Speaker 1: and connections and how it's bonded together. But when you're
- 9:34Speaker 1: a DA and you really want to prosecute somebody, every
- 9:38Speaker 1: single case log that has existed for mankind is open
- 9:42Speaker 1: to you. You just got to learn how to use
- 9:44Speaker 1: it in a loophole, you know what I'm saying. So
- 9:45Speaker 1: let's say, for instance, you're you've done. You've been busted
- 9:50Speaker 1: for two arm robberies and one sexual assault, right right.
- 9:55Speaker 1: The law might say, oh, it's not all three armed robberies,
- 9:58Speaker 1: so we can't strike them out, you know what I'm saying.
- 10:00Speaker 1: But the DA, if they catch you for three sexual assaults,
- 10:03Speaker 1: they'll find a way to be like, okay, it's the
- 10:05Speaker 1: exact same crime every time. He's a criminal, let's strike
- 10:10Speaker 1: him out on those streets. So it just depends, now
- 10:12Speaker 1: how bad the prosecution wants you and what kind of
- 10:14Speaker 1: case they want. So at what point in time did
- 10:16Speaker 1: you find out? Because once you get put in thirty
- 10:18Speaker 1: five to life, you're pretty much like, this is my life.
- 10:21Speaker 1: So I got I went to trial. I've always went.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I've always got a trial because I don't have nothing
- 10:25Speaker 1: to lose. You know, when when you have something to lose,
- 10:27Speaker 1: like you tend to take a deal. But with me,
- 10:30Speaker 1: they never offered me a date. It was always life
- 10:32Speaker 1: life or twenty five plus onto me. Might as well
- 10:35Speaker 1: be life, you know what I'm saying. So so I
- 10:38Speaker 1: went to trial and I lost in trial and Pomona
- 10:41Speaker 1: Court Superior Court Judge Ta Fisher found me guilty of
- 10:45Speaker 1: all my charges except from assault with the deadly weapon,
- 10:48Speaker 1: the shooting I beat, but five arm robberies that I
- 10:51Speaker 1: convicted of. So when she went, you know, they so
- 10:55Speaker 1: you get let's say today is your day to find
- 10:57Speaker 1: out your verdict. You get found guilty, right, boom, knock
- 10:59Speaker 1: you out, go back to court, come back in two
- 11:01Speaker 1: months for sentencing. At that point. Within those two months,
- 11:05Speaker 1: the law, well, the judge, the DA either has the
- 11:08Speaker 1: opportunity to go through your file and try and give
- 11:10Speaker 1: you some leanency or they just don't give a fuck
- 11:14Speaker 1: and give you the max time, you know what I'm saying.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So a lot of times it depends on your crime,
- 11:18Speaker 1: the seriousness of it, the violence behind it, and really
- 11:21Speaker 1: how it went down to get some kind of sympathy,
- 11:23Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So fortunate for me, the
- 11:26Speaker 1: lawyer that I was going with at the time really
- 11:29Speaker 1: pushed for the judge to open up my file. So
- 11:32Speaker 1: two months after her verdict she gave me. She gave
- 11:37Speaker 1: me eighteen years with the probably the parole, you know
- 11:40Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So my case, I was supposed to
- 11:43Speaker 1: get thirty five to life, but the judge basically told me, look,
- 11:47Speaker 1: laws are changing, I'm gonna end up bringing you back
- 11:49Speaker 1: ten years anyways. In Land, you go, she wasn't lying
- 11:52Speaker 1: to be honest with you, like I went up with
- 11:54Speaker 1: the eighteen years, from the eighteen years to turn to
- 11:55Speaker 1: thirteen years, from thirteen to turn to ten because of
- 11:58Speaker 1: Prop forty seven was changing so many laws. Jerry Brown
- 12:01Speaker 1: the original person that wrote the three strike law came
- 12:04Speaker 1: back because I don't know if you know, but California
- 12:08Speaker 1: prisons were so overflooded that Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the State
- 12:12Speaker 1: of Emergency, which meant that we're so populated, we could
- 12:16Speaker 1: start renting prisons and other states and taking them. So
- 12:19Speaker 1: they rented I think three prison in Arizona, one in
- 12:21Speaker 1: Oklahoma too, in Mississippi as that prison, that prison for
- 12:25Speaker 1: profit bullshit, Yes, sir, all federal judges owned that ship.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So you know, if all federal judges owned the prisons
- 12:31Speaker 1: and owned the on the canteens and everything that fucking
- 12:36Speaker 1: generates money in it, how are they not going to
- 12:38Speaker 1: create to keep you in prison? Yeah, it's a hustle.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So I ended up from scenting Nel, I ended up
- 12:43Speaker 1: to Arizona, and then I went all the way to
- 12:45Speaker 1: Mississippi Tallahatchie, and then I came back. Yeah. Yeah, well
- 12:49Speaker 1: we're getting caught up in shit. You know. Do you
- 12:51Speaker 1: think that that was kind of like because of the
- 12:53Speaker 1: three strike thing? Hell yeah, yeah, because they were giving
- 12:56Speaker 1: people to well, because that was like California. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 1: Only it's an enhancement, you know, it's an enhancement. But
- 13:03Speaker 1: with the three strike law came a gang of different enhancements.
- 13:06Speaker 1: You know, it wasn't just strikes like it was. Let's
- 13:08Speaker 1: say you've been to prison before, they were giving you
- 13:11Speaker 1: two extra for that, Jesus, Let's say it was gang involved.
- 13:15Speaker 1: That's automatic tens to fifteen extra years. So there was
- 13:18Speaker 1: a lot of dudes upstate that their crime only carried
- 13:21Speaker 1: three years, but they were doing eighteen off of enhancements,
- 13:24Speaker 1: not actual crimes. You know what I'm saying, That crimes
- 13:27Speaker 1: that she had done in the past, things that didn't
- 13:29Speaker 1: weren't even prevalent with what you were a busted for
- 13:31Speaker 1: right now, you know what I'm saying. So as a
- 13:34Speaker 1: loss change, my day changed, and they got to a
- 13:36Speaker 1: point where I had been down so long, like just
- 13:38Speaker 1: kick them out. So I got, like, I think, a
- 13:40Speaker 1: ten day notice before I came home. Oh yeah, you
- 13:43Speaker 1: didn't know, you No, I came home fucked up, like honestly,
- 13:49Speaker 1: emotionally mentally, I wasn't prepared. You know, I was wired
- 13:53Speaker 1: a certain way. You got understand, Like I took so
- 13:55Speaker 1: much loss while I was busted as far as heartbreak
- 13:58Speaker 1: and heartache, Like yeah, that emotionally I wasn't. I wasn't
- 14:03Speaker 1: confident bro like I was. You know, my spirit was
- 14:05Speaker 1: broke to a certain extent, like I know flight or fly.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I know how to survive. I knew how to be
- 14:09Speaker 1: hardlessing and take care of business in there, but I
- 14:12Speaker 1: didn't know how to digest some my care for the world,
- 14:17Speaker 1: my care for my life, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I lost some implication my family. I lost a lot
- 14:21Speaker 1: of shit. I lost a lot. So I went back.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I came home, and I was out like four months.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Oh you went back, Yeah, I went back. Bro I
- 14:28Speaker 1: was out four months and then I broke some food's
- 14:31Speaker 1: nose at a bar over some stupid shit. So I
- 14:33Speaker 1: went back again for four months. And that's when, really,
- 14:36Speaker 1: like the humbling King, you feel what I'm saying, Like,
- 14:39Speaker 1: that's when a moment of reflection, like like I told myself, like,
- 14:43Speaker 1: damn you a grown ass man, like you ain't got
- 14:45Speaker 1: shit to show for it all. You got to CDC numbers,
- 14:48Speaker 1: you feel me like, but you talk all this gangster
- 14:51Speaker 1: shit like to me, gangsters ain't broke, you know. Yeah.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I also feel like people got to start to understand,
- 14:56Speaker 1: like at a certain point in time, like if someone
- 14:58Speaker 1: talks shit to you at a bar, yeah, like it's
- 15:02Speaker 1: probably the more gangster thing to be the bigger guy,
- 15:05Speaker 1: just like you know what, now I know now I'm
- 15:06Speaker 1: the type of motherfucker. Like the minute I see ship Hey,
- 15:09Speaker 1: you want to drink, bro, I got you the fuck
- 15:11Speaker 1: this man drinking? You know? Yeah? Or bring the strip
- 15:13Speaker 1: over here, give the boy a laugh, you know what
- 15:15Speaker 1: I'm saying, Because I'm not afraid of what he's gonna do.
- 15:18Speaker 1: I'm afraid of what I'm gonna do. Bro, Like, Yeah, well,
- 15:21Speaker 1: I know I got everything to lose. So when you
- 15:22Speaker 1: got everything to lose, you're playing for keeps, you feel
- 15:25Speaker 1: I'm saying, I'd rather, I'd rather just you know what
- 15:27Speaker 1: I mean, Like try to avoid the ship dog because
- 15:29Speaker 1: at this point, like there's no profit in it, you know. Yeah.
- 15:31Speaker 1: I think people got to understand, like you can literally
- 15:35Speaker 1: change your life just making one mistake. Hell yeah, you
- 15:38Speaker 1: could be drinking too much. One decision, Doug could cost
- 15:41Speaker 1: you everything. It cost you every everything, literally, And let's
- 15:44Speaker 1: say you get it. You might get into a fight
- 15:45Speaker 1: at a bar and then you hit somebody and then
- 15:47Speaker 1: they fall and they hit their head on the ground
- 15:49Speaker 1: and then you're fucking in jail with the rest of
- 15:50Speaker 1: your life. Exture the scenario, right. You go to prison,
- 15:53Speaker 1: and this happened to me, That's why I'm speaking. You
- 15:55Speaker 1: go to prison and you know your baby mom's at
- 15:58Speaker 1: home with the kid. Yeah, and you're fighting this shit together,
- 16:01Speaker 1: and you're thinking there's a bond, right because you know,
- 16:03Speaker 1: we tend to have that illusion we're busted, like people
- 16:06Speaker 1: gonna write it out with us, or people gonna be
- 16:08Speaker 1: there for us. One time I called on and literally
- 16:12Speaker 1: the girl that I was being with took the phone
- 16:15Speaker 1: off the hook, accepting my call and put it on
- 16:17Speaker 1: speaker so that I could hear her getting my little
- 16:21Speaker 1: girl ready to go out for dinner with another man,
- 16:25Speaker 1: and then think about it, like I'm gonna be honest
- 16:28Speaker 1: with you. I stood there and I heard the whole shit.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I couldn't hang up, Like, no matter how much ego
- 16:33Speaker 1: and how much pride and how much gangsterism is in me,
- 16:36Speaker 1: I couldn't. I couldn't. I couldn't hang out, bro. You
- 16:38Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But those are the vulnerable positions
- 16:40Speaker 1: you put yourself when you're taking those losses you feel
- 16:43Speaker 1: I'm saying and also like to be honest, Like, it's
- 16:46Speaker 1: also probably not fair to expect someone to any exactly
- 16:49Speaker 1: wait for you. But that's the way that because you
- 16:51Speaker 1: want you Hell, if you really love that girl, let
- 16:53Speaker 1: her go. Hell, you should allow her to go. And
- 16:55Speaker 1: because you were facing even even if it was eighteen
- 16:58Speaker 1: years yeah, like come on, you want to make it. Yeah,
- 17:02Speaker 1: but it's But that's what I'm saying, though, it's an
- 17:04Speaker 1: unrealistic reality that we expect, you know what I'm saying,
- 17:08Speaker 1: Like our expectations are way too pure for the filth
- 17:12Speaker 1: that we live in. You feel I'm saying, like, we
- 17:14Speaker 1: expect motherfuckers to have honor and not snitch. We expect
- 17:18Speaker 1: motherfuckers to have honor and not run from a fight.
- 17:20Speaker 1: We expect women to stay loyal even though we were
- 17:23Speaker 1: probably cheating on them because I was cheating like a
- 17:24Speaker 1: motherfucker when I was I was cheating, I wasn't coming home.
- 17:28Speaker 1: But your arrogance makes yourself and you start to believe
- 17:32Speaker 1: that you're entitled to a lot of shit that you're not,
- 17:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, So when you go away.
- 17:37Speaker 1: That's why I frowned so much on people snitching and
- 17:40Speaker 1: debriefing because you think you're doing something dog at the time, right,
- 17:45Speaker 1: you might think like, oh, you you got the best
- 17:48Speaker 1: of the system. Fuck everybody, I'm getting out. They weren't
- 17:51Speaker 1: gonna ride for me anyways. Nah, Bro, Like what you're
- 17:53Speaker 1: missing is the lesson that you were gonna get during
- 17:55Speaker 1: that time you were busted. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 17:58Speaker 1: you're shortening yourself from life exppeeriances and virtues that only
- 18:02Speaker 1: on your own you can learn, because solitude is the
- 18:05Speaker 1: best teacher, bro to to find out who you are,
- 18:07Speaker 1: to find out what you're prepared for, and to find
- 18:10Speaker 1: out like exactly how far you'll take something Like I
- 18:12Speaker 1: knew in prison I couldn't do life. I admit that
- 18:15Speaker 1: shit Like I can't do life. Dog, I love bitches,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I love my freedom. You know what I'm saying. I
- 18:20Speaker 1: like what comes with providing. I like living with a purpose,
- 18:23Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And that was the biggest
- 18:25Speaker 1: thing for me in prison was like waking up, You're
- 18:28Speaker 1: just staring at the wall, Doug, no opportunity, no, no nothing,
- 18:31Speaker 1: You're just an empty shell of existence, you feel, I'm saying,
- 18:34Speaker 1: Like there's nothing, bro, nothing even writing letters fell stupid
- 18:38Speaker 1: after my eighth year, you know, like, why the fuck
- 18:40Speaker 1: am I writing these people? Then you're right back, don't
- 18:42Speaker 1: give a fuck you over here pouring your soul out
- 18:44Speaker 1: on the fucking letter and motherfuckers don't even open it
- 18:47Speaker 1: when it gets home. And I'm in the same place now, Like,
- 18:50Speaker 1: trust me, all my homies write me and this and that.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Most of time I don't have time to write back
- 18:54Speaker 1: or even read them. Bro. Wow, Like I gotta be
- 18:57Speaker 1: on a trip where it's two hours where I'm like,
- 18:59Speaker 1: you know what the homie wrote, Let me cause Mom,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I'm gonna send her zel her one hundred bucks for
- 19:03Speaker 1: him and tell me I said my love. I can't
- 19:05Speaker 1: write back. Yeah, motherfuckers call my phone all day. I
- 19:07Speaker 1: don't got time to answer, bro, Like, I just don't
- 19:10Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. But that's the fact. That's
- 19:12Speaker 1: the facts of the world keeps turning without you? Is
- 19:15Speaker 1: the Is it still like letters that are because I
- 19:20Speaker 1: know they have like that's FEDS emails, is FEDS emails
- 19:24Speaker 1: is faeds. So if you're just in a normal state, prisons,
- 19:27Speaker 1: normal state, lessons, yes, letters, man, it's still old school.
- 19:29Speaker 1: You know. I know some people like have iPads and ship. Yeah,
- 19:33Speaker 1: they got iPads, but the iPads are to download music,
- 19:36Speaker 1: so they're like iPods, you know what I'm saying. But
- 19:39Speaker 1: the system allows you to do educational ship on them too,
- 19:42Speaker 1: if you're like on certain like Netflix. I used to
- 19:46Speaker 1: have porn in the prison, the joint through video. I
- 19:48Speaker 1: had everything. I had an Xbox, I had a Sony Boombox,
- 19:51Speaker 1: I had cell phones. How do you? How do you?
- 19:54Speaker 1: Isn't that technically contribut it is, but when they shipped
- 19:57Speaker 1: us out of state, we were doing time according to
- 20:00Speaker 1: out of state rules in Mississippi, and allow you have that,
- 20:04Speaker 1: not cell phones but Xbox Yeah, in your in yourself. Yeah,
- 20:09Speaker 1: so you're able to play like Xbox sixty. I was
- 20:11Speaker 1: on Death Space all day. You play Dead Space, Model
- 20:13Speaker 1: Warfare one, Model Warfare two, like I got every person
- 20:16Speaker 1: every Wow. Yeah California they don't allow that. Nah, hell
- 20:20Speaker 1: nah California. Everything's see through, bro, Like like this in California,
- 20:24Speaker 1: you gotta be able to see through. What what state?
- 20:25Speaker 1: Did you have? The Xbox Arizona That's where I originally
- 20:28Speaker 1: bought it. That about an Arizona, but it traveled with
- 20:30Speaker 1: me all the way to Mississippi, Mississippi. When I came back,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I left it to the homies. You know. So when
- 20:35Speaker 1: you go to those out of state places, uh, does
- 20:38Speaker 1: it California politics follow you? Hell yeah, mandatory we open
- 20:41Speaker 1: up the prison. So we got to established that right
- 20:43Speaker 1: just to avoid Like, look, there's a misconception of prison politics,
- 20:47Speaker 1: you know, Like I know a lot of people have
- 20:48Speaker 1: come here and like try and make it sound like
- 20:50Speaker 1: it's a racial thing. To be honest with you, like,
- 20:53Speaker 1: that's farthest from the truth, you know, and my homebole
- 20:55Speaker 1: tell you like he was with me on the yard,
- 20:56Speaker 1: like right, we're doing everything together. But it's a necessary
- 21:00Speaker 1: evil in prison, bro, Like you gotta understand. Right, Let's
- 21:02Speaker 1: say me and you are on some thorough hood shit,
- 21:04Speaker 1: right and we're in prison. You know, there's a gang
- 21:06Speaker 1: of smokers that are there with us. You know, it's
- 21:09Speaker 1: not just thorough foods that go to prison. And you know,
- 21:11Speaker 1: get there's also crackhead. There's also dummies, drunks, all kinds
- 21:16Speaker 1: of shit. Right now, when you're dealing with those type
- 21:19Speaker 1: of individuals, they don't know the structure that we know,
- 21:21Speaker 1: like respect, they don't know how to like move accordingly.
- 21:24Speaker 1: So the prison politics are necessary evil to stop racial
- 21:30Speaker 1: issues to real escalating. You know what I'm saying, Like, Hey,
- 21:32Speaker 1: that's the phone for your people, that's the shower for
- 21:34Speaker 1: your people, that's the basketball court for you guys. So
- 21:37Speaker 1: guess what, You'll never got to fight with somebody over
- 21:39Speaker 1: a I got next game and it's a different race,
- 21:41Speaker 1: then fucking we're all going to the whole, you know
- 21:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Or it's it's kind of like necessary
- 21:46Speaker 1: to keep as much harmony as possible, hell until the
- 21:48Speaker 1: harmony until there's not you know what I'm saying. But
- 21:51Speaker 1: but it's not. It's not because oh we hate them. No,
- 21:54Speaker 1: it's not even like that, bro, It's just to keep
- 21:55Speaker 1: a structure because you're in chaos all the time. I
- 21:58Speaker 1: don't know, bro, I remember when I would land to prisons,
- 22:02Speaker 1: right like when you first get off the bus. No bullshit.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I remember when I got to Centinado the three yard,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and I landed in the Life for building because I
- 22:10Speaker 1: was on close custody because I had so much time.
- 22:12Speaker 1: So when you're on close custody the first fifteen years
- 22:14Speaker 1: a year of your term, you only get two hours
- 22:16Speaker 1: of program a day. That's the only time you get
- 22:18Speaker 1: to come out to sell it's two hours. Wow. So
- 22:20Speaker 1: I was on close custody with pretty much so that hour. Yeah.
- 22:26Speaker 1: So so I landed the Life for Billion to be
- 22:30Speaker 1: on close custody, and I sat on the bench and
- 22:32Speaker 1: this Asian dude's fucking yelling at me from the door,
- 22:35Speaker 1: like welcome to Santa Hella because the prison is called Sentinella,
- 22:39Speaker 1: you know, but like there's no like, how can you
- 22:44Speaker 1: say it, dog that, there's no there's no chance to
- 22:46Speaker 1: ever like think peacefully there, you know, even if you're
- 22:50Speaker 1: on your own peaceful journey, Like the noises around you
- 22:52Speaker 1: are a chaos. They are always yeah, yeah, somebody's always
- 22:56Speaker 1: stirring the pop bro. It doesn't matter. There's an idiot
- 22:58Speaker 1: in there. Yeah, always, always somebody discouraging you. Always, like
- 23:02Speaker 1: even when you're trying to go home, like what you're
- 23:04Speaker 1: getting ready to go on for, you're just gonna come
- 23:06Speaker 1: Backer's mad, you know what I'm saying. So so it's
- 23:11Speaker 1: like all that rules and all that structure is to
- 23:14Speaker 1: create some kind of normality, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Who's the most interesting person you were locked up with life?
- 23:19Speaker 1: Jennings just shared he was locked up with I was
- 23:22Speaker 1: busted with. Well, I I ran into I ran to
- 23:26Speaker 1: a few rappers like that I looked looked up to.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I ran into drew Down, trying to him for the
- 23:33Speaker 1: year Man. Yeah, he was a Susanville. I ran to
- 23:35Speaker 1: drew Down, I ran to sugar Free, I ran into
- 23:39Speaker 1: Goldie Lowe. But the most interesting one that I ran
- 23:43Speaker 1: into was a porn star out of the valley right here.
- 23:45Speaker 1: His name was Philip Oliver. His porn name was Anyways.
- 23:49Speaker 1: He was a porn star and like his stories were
- 23:52Speaker 1: just the best, you know what I'm saying, stories, Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So to me, he was
- 23:56Speaker 1: the most interesting because everybody else I can relate. I
- 23:58Speaker 1: heard all that ship, you know what I'm saying. But
- 24:00Speaker 1: this was a beast, you know what I'm saying. He
- 24:01Speaker 1: was legendaryre sugar Free out of beat. I mean, sugar
- 24:04Speaker 1: Free was a trip. But he wasn't talking to us
- 24:06Speaker 1: like like what you see on the streets. That's not
- 24:08Speaker 1: how he is in there. You know. I don't know
- 24:10Speaker 1: if it's because you know he's he's sober or what
- 24:13Speaker 1: it is, you know what I'm saying, But he's just different.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Uh so you obviously you get out, you go back,
- 24:20Speaker 1: you get out again. You're fucking you finally kind of
- 24:24Speaker 1: have your mind right? Yeah, when how long between the
- 24:30Speaker 1: second time you got out before you released your first
- 24:34Speaker 1: music ship. I started recording right away. So what I
- 24:37Speaker 1: was doing at the beginning was doing the SoundCloud shit.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Like I had given myself a goal because I couldn't
- 24:42Speaker 1: afford too much studio time. I would go record one
- 24:46Speaker 1: song a week and give it away free. I couldn't
- 24:48Speaker 1: afford to buy beats or engineering. So I had found this,
- 24:51Speaker 1: this this relative of art well through my niece, her
- 24:54Speaker 1: boyfriend's cousin. He could engineer, so what somewhat? So I
- 24:57Speaker 1: used to go record and then I would upload one
- 24:59Speaker 1: song a week to SoundCloud and YouTube, you know, and
- 25:04Speaker 1: I was just try and see what it did, what
- 25:06Speaker 1: it did, And then little by little I met somebody
- 25:08Speaker 1: that told me, you know what, I'll help you put
- 25:10Speaker 1: out a whole independent project, like you don't gotta pay me, shit,
- 25:12Speaker 1: I just want to see you win. So we did that,
- 25:15Speaker 1: and after that that's when I really like, once I
- 25:17Speaker 1: put something together, like a real project, I seen like
- 25:20Speaker 1: people really getting behind it. What year was that that
- 25:22Speaker 1: was two thousand and sixteen, Yeah, twenty sixteen. But I
- 25:26Speaker 1: was doing shows at bars and like that shit would
- 25:29Speaker 1: fill out, you know what I'm saying, So like little
- 25:31Speaker 1: bar programmers like come through again, you know. So that
- 25:33Speaker 1: shit was encouraging, you know what I'm saying, But it
- 25:35Speaker 1: was tough throughout the beginning done because like I said,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I was doing legitimately. Yeah. So you remember when when
- 25:41Speaker 1: like foods first started shooting videos, they weren't cheap like
- 25:43Speaker 1: they are now, right, Yeah, when yeah, when the independent
- 25:47Speaker 1: shooters were coming out, there were you know, it was
- 25:49Speaker 1: a thousands. Now you can get a video done for
- 25:51Speaker 1: like three hundred dollars. Yeah. So if you find like
- 25:53Speaker 1: a young kid with a camera and final yeah hell
- 25:55Speaker 1: yeah yeah, two fifty three hundred bucks all day, you
- 25:58Speaker 1: know what I mean, and it looks dope, you know
- 25:59Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Back then, motherfuckers are charging the arm
- 26:02Speaker 1: in the leg. So I used to I used to
- 26:04Speaker 1: borrow money from my sister. I used to borrow money
- 26:06Speaker 1: for my sister to keep gas in my car to
- 26:09Speaker 1: go to school, you know what I'm saying, Get back
- 26:12Speaker 1: and forth, and then pay for my studio time, my
- 26:14Speaker 1: video you know what I mean, And then I would
- 26:16Speaker 1: pay her back. I probably still her money, who fucking knows,
- 26:18Speaker 1: but you know what I'm saying, Like the cyst was
- 26:20Speaker 1: helping me out, you know what I mean, Like the cysts,
- 26:22Speaker 1: my homies from my hood. Yeah, momies from my hood
- 26:24Speaker 1: were helping me with that. I had one of my
- 26:26Speaker 1: homies rest in peace, Mojo. I just lost him like
- 26:29Speaker 1: less than a year ago. He built me a studio,
- 26:31Speaker 1: like we had a car port and my homie, fucking
- 26:34Speaker 1: he was one of them, you know, eight in the
- 26:35Speaker 1: morning to eight at night, like I said, then in
- 26:37Speaker 1: sleep he built me on you know what I'm saying.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And that's when like I started feeling like, Okay, I
- 26:42Speaker 1: really got to do this shit. Yeah people are kind
- 26:44Speaker 1: of investing in yeah. Yeah, yeah, most definitely. Yeah. So
- 26:47Speaker 1: all that help was like very encouraging and it was
- 26:50Speaker 1: good for my confidence, you feel the saying. Tell me
- 26:53Speaker 1: about the day you guys went to know Jumper with
- 26:55Speaker 1: the American Solo because there's a lot a lot of guys,
- 26:58Speaker 1: a lot of the homies came with you. Yeah. But
- 27:01Speaker 1: that's the thing, like, look, man, and I know you
- 27:02Speaker 1: have a great relationship with ad Yeah, and you guys
- 27:05Speaker 1: obviously have music together, and you guys have a strong bond,
- 27:09Speaker 1: but just what was the the thought process of just
- 27:13Speaker 1: bringing a bunch of bunch of fools with you because
- 27:15Speaker 1: it was a lot of people. Yeah, yeah, we went.
- 27:16Speaker 1: We went deep as fuck, and honestly, Bro, it was
- 27:19Speaker 1: this dog like like in our community, our elders are
- 27:24Speaker 1: very much respected, you know what I'm saying. I would
- 27:26Speaker 1: hope that in every community, but in ours of course,
- 27:28Speaker 1: in ours though, we do like really, I have a
- 27:31Speaker 1: Mexican wife, yea, and a Mexican baby mama. Yeah, so
- 27:34Speaker 1: you know, one hundred percent. Yeah. So so when Gil
- 27:37Speaker 1: was getting attacked, I saw it, you know what I'm saying.
- 27:40Speaker 1: I saw it, and I knew the history behind it,
- 27:42Speaker 1: so I could stand behind him. You know what I'm saying.
- 27:44Speaker 1: You knew the context, Yeah, I knew. I knew the
- 27:45Speaker 1: context exactly how it was. Right. So he calls me,
- 27:49Speaker 1: and I could hear it in his voice that he's
- 27:52Speaker 1: looking for some kind of like like I don't want
- 27:56Speaker 1: to say help because I don't want to make him
- 27:57Speaker 1: sound weak, but he was looking for a free dog,
- 28:00Speaker 1: you feel, saying, somebody to stand beside him. That that
- 28:02Speaker 1: had a validity out here that can really speak up
- 28:04Speaker 1: on shit that's been there, done that. So I didn't
- 28:07Speaker 1: even let him ask me. I just told him like, hey, bro,
- 28:10Speaker 1: you want me to go with you? And he was
- 28:12Speaker 1: like yeah, you know. So then I saw it as
- 28:15Speaker 1: an opportunity to bring a lot of homies together. Like
- 28:18Speaker 1: what people don't understand, bros, Like yeah, we came deep
- 28:22Speaker 1: and there was all homies, but I had a lot
- 28:24Speaker 1: of rival gangs there that aren't supposed to be together.
- 28:27Speaker 1: So you kind of brought some people. Hell yeah, Like
- 28:29Speaker 1: the homies came together without question nobody, nobody ever. Oh
- 28:33Speaker 1: So before I get to that, yeah, so you know,
- 28:35Speaker 1: I asked him, like you want me to go with you?
- 28:36Speaker 1: He's like yeah, if you're not busy, like pull up.
- 28:39Speaker 1: So I hang up. I tell him, no doubt, I'll
- 28:41Speaker 1: be there with you. I hang up, and then I'm
- 28:42Speaker 1: sitting at I'm just sitting in my little room, and
- 28:45Speaker 1: I'm like, you know what, Like, I saw it as
- 28:46Speaker 1: an important moment for us as a community, you feel
- 28:49Speaker 1: saying I saw it as as a as a good
- 28:53Speaker 1: moment to communicate to people how blackballed we are in
- 28:56Speaker 1: the industry. Mainstream, you know, like PARAWEO six took down
- 29:00Speaker 1: the interview without even no question, you know what I'm saying,
- 29:03Speaker 1: Like it was quick. Adam for whatever reason, was motivated
- 29:07Speaker 1: to put up that post. You feel what I'm saying.
- 29:09Speaker 1: And then now one of our elders that has a
- 29:13Speaker 1: positive voice in our community, whether you believe it when
- 29:15Speaker 1: he says or not, he's not bringing nothing negative on
- 29:17Speaker 1: the community, you know what I'm saying. He's not making
- 29:19Speaker 1: our people look unruly or educated, you know what I'm saying.
- 29:23Speaker 1: So when that was that question, I just thought to myself, like,
- 29:27Speaker 1: you know what this is. This is a good opportunity
- 29:28Speaker 1: for us to show solidarity, you know what I mean, unity,
- 29:30Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, because everybody's always you had
- 29:32Speaker 1: just I had just heard Whack one hundred all over
- 29:35Speaker 1: the place talk about how you know the Southsiders ain't
- 29:40Speaker 1: they don't have control their own destiny, you know, they
- 29:42Speaker 1: got to do what they're told. And We're like this
- 29:44Speaker 1: fucking hit squad, bro that that just follows a dictator,
- 29:48Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So I started reaching out
- 29:51Speaker 1: to people and then I called Gil like, hey, bro,
- 29:54Speaker 1: like you want to you feel like going deep, and
- 29:57Speaker 1: he was like, you know, I think we should. So
- 29:59Speaker 1: I was like, fuck it. So I reached out to
- 30:01Speaker 1: a gang of homies from different hoods, and not once
- 30:03Speaker 1: did anybody ask me like, hey, who's gonna be there,
- 30:07Speaker 1: or you know, like who And it was just because
- 30:10Speaker 1: people felt the same way we felt, you know what
- 30:12Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, just because we're not on ig or
- 30:14Speaker 1: on YouTube run our mouth about Brown Lives Matter or
- 30:18Speaker 1: this and that or whatever the fuck you want to
- 30:20Speaker 1: call it, right, doesn't mean we don't have an opinion
- 30:22Speaker 1: or feelings about how we're being represented, you know what
- 30:24Speaker 1: I'm saying. So I threw it out there to the homies. Honestly,
- 30:28Speaker 1: I'm not gonna take credit for that shit Like I
- 30:30Speaker 1: might have invited twenty. The other eighty came on their
- 30:33Speaker 1: own through word of mouth, you feel what I'm saying.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Then people started calling me and hey, what's going on?
- 30:38Speaker 1: We'll pull up. You know what I'm saying. If you
- 30:40Speaker 1: see the whole footage, Dog, we didn't force our way
- 30:44Speaker 1: in there, right, fucking AD's been with me with like
- 30:46Speaker 1: fifty trollers before by himself in the hood, you know
- 30:49Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So Ad was like Gyler, like come in,
- 30:51Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like, come on, let's all
- 30:53Speaker 1: come in. We all here together. Because to Ad, he
- 30:55Speaker 1: don't see a bunch of Mexican troll os. He just
- 30:57Speaker 1: sees the homies. Yeah, you know what I mean. Hey,
- 31:00Speaker 1: that's the squad bulls with them. Come on. You know.
- 31:02Speaker 1: It's so interesting because I thought that the interview you
- 31:05Speaker 1: guys did was dope because it was at a time
- 31:08Speaker 1: when I felt like the unity of black and brown
- 31:13Speaker 1: people in Cali in LA needed to be kind of illustrated. Yeah,
- 31:17Speaker 1: and I feel like you and AD's conversation. Yeah, but
- 31:19Speaker 1: that's what happens when when you get like two real
- 31:22Speaker 1: street dudes, and I got to be honest with you,
- 31:24Speaker 1: like I had no idea like until maybe like I've
- 31:27Speaker 1: been out here since twenty seventeen, and I didn't understand
- 31:32Speaker 1: like the I didn't. I wasn't raised out here, so
- 31:35Speaker 1: I don't know that. Like the history between the black
- 31:37Speaker 1: and brown community historically in LA is like a pretty
- 31:40Speaker 1: divisive one. It is because in Arizona, where I'm from,
- 31:44Speaker 1: the blacks and the Mexicans, my whole life have just
- 31:46Speaker 1: been homies. Yeah, you know, I grew up. I grew
- 31:49Speaker 1: up in a heavily Mexican area. All my best friends
- 31:51Speaker 1: are black or Mexican, and everybody always got along. So
- 31:56Speaker 1: you know, I know that there was like a few
- 31:58Speaker 1: things that had kind of led up to you guys
- 32:00Speaker 1: doing that interview, and you know, I felt like a
- 32:03Speaker 1: necessary moment to have with Ad and you and you
- 32:07Speaker 1: know him, and you know, I think I think it.
- 32:10Speaker 1: It didn't to me. It didn't feel like to me,
- 32:12Speaker 1: it was a representation like if look, dog, I don't
- 32:16Speaker 1: just see things for the layer that is presented to
- 32:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I always see things in layers.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I'll see things like from one tent to two tenths
- 32:23Speaker 1: to three tenths, you know what I mean. Everything comes
- 32:25Speaker 1: with fractions, you feel saying. And if you see the
- 32:27Speaker 1: fractions of that day, bro, like it's clear as day.
- 32:30Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. There's people that only give
- 32:33Speaker 1: a fuck about views and ratings, and there's people that
- 32:36Speaker 1: give a fuck about the human side. You know, there's
- 32:39Speaker 1: people that are currently living in a virtual world and
- 32:41Speaker 1: there's people that still live in reality. You feel saying, So,
- 32:44Speaker 1: but I think it's important for like LA I believe
- 32:49Speaker 1: like a few other major cities, are one of the
- 32:52Speaker 1: cities that can dictate how things are presented and move forward.
- 32:54Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, According to how we move
- 32:56Speaker 1: as a society, other states follow you feel I'm saying.
- 33:00Speaker 1: So I think that mutual respect towards each other even
- 33:03Speaker 1: the way even from what I told Adam was like, look, bro,
- 33:06Speaker 1: like just learn how we move, you know what I'm saying,
- 33:09Speaker 1: and then you can move correctly and not worry about
- 33:11Speaker 1: one hundred motherfuckers coming to your spot and telling you
- 33:14Speaker 1: what the fuck you did wrong, even though it's common sense.
- 33:17Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. But let's just get it.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Like you could play with anybody else, don't play with us,
- 33:21Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like move how you want
- 33:23Speaker 1: to move with other people in other groups or whatever.
- 33:25Speaker 1: But when it comes to like what we represent, like
- 33:28Speaker 1: move move carefully though, because we see things in different lights.
- 33:32Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. What you might not think
- 33:33Speaker 1: is disrespectful to us is extremely and much the opposite,
- 33:37Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So it was a good day.
- 33:40Speaker 1: I think it was dope. Adam wasn't there, which I
- 33:43Speaker 1: to this day think is fucked up, you know what
- 33:45Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like him being there would have just made
- 33:48Speaker 1: it more like transparent that there is no fuckery. You
- 33:53Speaker 1: feel what I'm saying, That there wasn't no ill intentions,
- 33:56Speaker 1: that there was no sabotage. You know what I'm saying.
- 33:58Speaker 1: You know how it is when you want to defend yourself,
- 34:00Speaker 1: you got to get faced, you know what I'm saying.
- 34:02Speaker 1: So I think that we went there to get face
- 34:04Speaker 1: and a d and Duno's pulled up and it was cool.
- 34:08Speaker 1: But like you know, now it's becoming a point where
- 34:12Speaker 1: like it's a stabbing point though, like ain't little chance
- 34:14Speaker 1: they get they bring it up again, you know, or
- 34:16Speaker 1: somebody will bring it up, or they're asking Swifty about it,
- 34:19Speaker 1: and Swift he's talking about, well you ain't you know?
- 34:20Speaker 1: Come on, bro, Like at the end of the day, bro,
- 34:22Speaker 1: like it's not about you or me, you know what
- 34:25Speaker 1: I'm saying. It's about the community, the streets and the
- 34:27Speaker 1: ship that can happen after we leave the studio and
- 34:30Speaker 1: we go home to our comfortable fucking paths, right because
- 34:32Speaker 1: most of us ain't posted on the on the block
- 34:34Speaker 1: no more like we used to be. If we did
- 34:36Speaker 1: we wouldn't have the opportunities that we have. So I
- 34:39Speaker 1: think that we have to hold ourselves responsible for the
- 34:41Speaker 1: people that we still got on the block. You feel
- 34:42Speaker 1: what I mean? Yeah? What because like obviously you just
- 34:46Speaker 1: brought up swiftly. I wasn't gonna bring him up, and
- 34:48Speaker 1: you brought him up, so fuck it. You know, I
- 34:51Speaker 1: know you guys not see an eye to eye. Yeah, online,
- 34:54Speaker 1: you know, he's a lot younger on everything. We don't
- 34:56Speaker 1: see it on there. He's obviously a lot he's a
- 34:58Speaker 1: lot younger than Yeah, you know what I mean. It's
- 34:59Speaker 1: probably in a place in his life that when you
- 35:03Speaker 1: were in his shoes, probably when you were younger, you
- 35:05Speaker 1: were probably you probably didn't have the knowledge or the
- 35:08Speaker 1: wisdom that you currently have. Have you have you considered
- 35:12Speaker 1: like reaching out to him on some positive shit? Well,
- 35:16Speaker 1: I'm strategic with everything that I do, right because I know,
- 35:19Speaker 1: because I know you guys have had words for each
- 35:20Speaker 1: I know the abhorrence behind my moves you feel. I'm
- 35:23Speaker 1: saying so to me right now, my silence is golden.
- 35:28Speaker 1: You feel what I'm saying. It's like at you at home, right,
- 35:31Speaker 1: you have kids? Right, of course you ain't gonna argue
- 35:33Speaker 1: with your kids right right there? It is there. Yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying is that simple. I have
- 35:37Speaker 1: to carry myself like a man, and he has to
- 35:39Speaker 1: carry himself like a young man. Now I'm doing my part.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Now does he live up to his own expectations? We're
- 35:44Speaker 1: gonna see you feel what I'm saying. You don't need
- 35:46Speaker 1: to even run our mouths no more like And it's
- 35:49Speaker 1: exactly like what you said. It's just the age difference.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Though you feel what I'm saying. I realize that, you
- 35:53Speaker 1: know what I mean. That's another reason why I'm not
- 35:55Speaker 1: like persistently going after certain topics and certain people because
- 36:00Speaker 1: and my age. Dog, I have to carry myself like
- 36:03Speaker 1: I have the knowledge, the wisdom, the imporance and the
- 36:06Speaker 1: receipts to back up the way that I move without
- 36:07Speaker 1: having to talk. Yeah, I don't really got to run
- 36:10Speaker 1: my mouth like. Just my presence says it by itself.
- 36:12Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. You know, we always have
- 36:13Speaker 1: heard like uh in certain cities the check it in thing,
- 36:17Speaker 1: And obviously he's gone viral and he's his check in website,
- 36:19Speaker 1: which is a great marketing idea. Fucking love it. You
- 36:22Speaker 1: get a certificate on it. But like in terms of
- 36:24Speaker 1: like do you think that's something that's important if someone
- 36:28Speaker 1: comes to l A, I have to tap in with
- 36:31Speaker 1: like certain aspects that's important anywhere you're at, you know,
- 36:34Speaker 1: like like how does the saying? How does the saying go?
- 36:36Speaker 1: One of the oldest sceings right when in Rome you
- 36:39Speaker 1: do as the Romans? Do you feel me? That's that's
- 36:41Speaker 1: my thing is is like I always you know, it depends.
- 36:44Speaker 1: But if you're a street rapper exactly, Yes, Let's say
- 36:48Speaker 1: you could be you could be from Chicago, and if
- 36:50Speaker 1: you move as like a street rapper, you you you
- 36:53Speaker 1: claim to be from the streets, it's probably smart for
- 36:56Speaker 1: you to hell yeah with the local beau. That's what
- 36:59Speaker 1: you're gonna track. You're like a pop artist. Yeah, you
- 37:02Speaker 1: come to l A. Yeah, do your ship, do your thing.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Yeah you might get robbed, but you know what I'm saying, Yeah,
- 37:08Speaker 1: but it wasn't nobody going to defend you anyways. At
- 37:10Speaker 1: that point. It's like, you know, it's like I feel
- 37:12Speaker 1: like I do feel like if you're if you represent that,
- 37:14Speaker 1: if you're bringing that energy, then yeah you gotta and
- 37:17Speaker 1: that's wherever you go right, everyone has some homies wherever.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Hell yeah, ship hell yeah, it's it's it's it's just
- 37:23Speaker 1: safety first, you know what I'm saying. Why wouldn't you, like,
- 37:26Speaker 1: why not why not pay homage and want to meet
- 37:29Speaker 1: the people where you're where you're coming to, you know
- 37:31Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Why not meet the locals you feel,
- 37:33Speaker 1: I'm saying, and learn the rules of the land. Dog
- 37:35Speaker 1: at the end of the day, it's only gonna benefit
- 37:37Speaker 1: you and get more love if anything. Yeah, you know
- 37:39Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So, yeah, it's important. I think it's
- 37:41Speaker 1: table manners, you know where everywhere you go, you gotta
- 37:43Speaker 1: have table manners though, you got to present yourself. Well,
- 37:45Speaker 1: what do you think of like just kind of like
- 37:47Speaker 1: the influx in you know, we lost pm B Rock
- 37:50Speaker 1: out here, which, by the way, after finding out that
- 37:54Speaker 1: it was like a father father son day. Yeah, yeah,
- 37:57Speaker 1: it's crazy. Well that's the moment of reflection, I think.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I think it's a moment to like, like see the
- 38:03Speaker 1: layers behind the action itself. Right, Like you got literally
- 38:09Speaker 1: a father and son duo come in a crime that
- 38:11Speaker 1: cost the life of a successful young man, you feel,
- 38:14Speaker 1: I'm saying, And from what I heard I think the
- 38:17Speaker 1: kid had an ankle monitor on and even yeah something
- 38:19Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, But what I'm saying is this, like
- 38:21Speaker 1: it's it's a time like this. What's happening, bro? And
- 38:23Speaker 1: I see it a lot in my in my in
- 38:25Speaker 1: my community right Like there's men right now that are
- 38:30Speaker 1: so caught up with social media and this lifestyle that
- 38:33Speaker 1: it brings right that they're trying to hang with the kids.
- 38:38Speaker 1: You feel what I'm saying, Like there's no there's no
- 38:40Speaker 1: division in clouds is a hell of a dress, That's
- 38:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Right, So we gotta we gotta look
- 38:46Speaker 1: at ourselves, Like I see it as a failure in
- 38:49Speaker 1: the men, you know what I mean, The men that
- 38:51Speaker 1: are here right now, like ain't moving like men are
- 38:53Speaker 1: supposed to move. We're not supposed to be following the
- 38:56Speaker 1: little homies or even trying to be the little homies.
- 38:59Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. There's a r for him
- 39:00Speaker 1: to being a big homie, you know what I mean.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Like the art Firm is like, you've been through this shit,
- 39:04Speaker 1: so teach the little homies better, you feel what I'm saying.
- 39:07Speaker 1: But right now you got a lot of grown men
- 39:09Speaker 1: trying to be little man, youngsters you feel, I mean,
- 39:12Speaker 1: and still be yeah so so. But that's what social
- 39:17Speaker 1: media does, bro, Like you understand a lot of motherfuckers
- 39:19Speaker 1: like didn't even have names and reputations before social media.
- 39:23Speaker 1: You know, before you really had to come outside, Like
- 39:25Speaker 1: if motherfuckers knew your dog, you was literally outside twenty
- 39:28Speaker 1: four to seven. You never went away when you went
- 39:31Speaker 1: to jail. You hit the block as soon as you
- 39:33Speaker 1: got out, and you were hitting that motherfucker street like
- 39:36Speaker 1: there was no And when you were in the joint,
- 39:37Speaker 1: you were raising your hand for every mission like that's
- 39:40Speaker 1: how you That was social media before with strikes, right,
- 39:42Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But now we're in this
- 39:45Speaker 1: virtual world, dog where you know what I mean, you
- 39:47Speaker 1: can make up your merit, you know what I'm saying.
- 39:49Speaker 1: And a lot of men that have what's the word
- 39:53Speaker 1: I'm looking for that I have confidence problems are looking
- 39:57Speaker 1: at that to validate who they are as men. You
- 40:00Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. You can't because social media is
- 40:03Speaker 1: mostly for children, I think, you know what I mean.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I think that only children are allowed to live in
- 40:07Speaker 1: their imagination, right, I think that grown ups live in reality. Right,
- 40:11Speaker 1: because we have obligations. Hell yeah, you got buildings to build,
- 40:15Speaker 1: and we got to keep this shit going, you feel
- 40:17Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like, so, I think that as a community,
- 40:20Speaker 1: that's where we're at, like not only a community, just
- 40:23Speaker 1: in general, bro, because you see even older women trying
- 40:26Speaker 1: to act like they're young, like it's working and getting
- 40:28Speaker 1: the bbls and like, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 40:32Speaker 1: I see forty year old women talk about my N
- 40:34Speaker 1: word this my n word dad, Like girl, like you
- 40:38Speaker 1: were just super this fucking for the last thirty years
- 40:41Speaker 1: of your life, you know what I mean. Like, so
- 40:44Speaker 1: we have identity crisis going on right now, you know
- 40:46Speaker 1: what I'm saying. And I think that as man, we
- 40:48Speaker 1: got to act like a dog, because dog, imagine that
- 40:51Speaker 1: dog like a father and son Like that's like that
- 40:55Speaker 1: that would be like fuck. I couldn't even see myself
- 40:57Speaker 1: telling my son like, hey, Greta Bernard, were about to
- 40:59Speaker 1: go rop old boy for all his fucking jewelry. It's crazy,
- 41:03Speaker 1: and in fact it was. I think that there's reading
- 41:05Speaker 1: the details of what actually happened, You're like, yeah, that
- 41:08Speaker 1: kid was seventeen and decided to like consciously like not
- 41:12Speaker 1: just rob him, like rob him and then put him down. Well,
- 41:15Speaker 1: there's more layer set. Think about that. Think about what
- 41:17Speaker 1: his dad is communicating to him, and they're at home,
- 41:19Speaker 1: the example that his father's giving them. I ain't talking
- 41:22Speaker 1: about bodies around My little boy broke, Like what the fuck?
- 41:25Speaker 1: Like we talk sports if anything, and probably had a
- 41:29Speaker 1: terrible life. Hell yeah, for sure. If we check his record,
- 41:32Speaker 1: I'm sure he's been out of jail, you know, custody issues,
- 41:34Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, like all that shit that
- 41:36Speaker 1: comes with this. So I mean, look, bro, I think
- 41:39Speaker 1: that it's crazy that let's say, for instance, it would
- 41:42Speaker 1: have been a cop killing a young black man or
- 41:46Speaker 1: Hispanic man. Right, we're marching, right, and we're doing all
- 41:49Speaker 1: this shit, and we're there's awareness and we need to
- 41:51Speaker 1: be heard. But when it's us failing us, nobody wants
- 41:54Speaker 1: to talk about it. It's almost like a hidden secret,
- 41:57Speaker 1: dirty secret in the family. You know, We're I allowed
- 42:00Speaker 1: to talk about it? Why the fuck not? This is
- 42:02Speaker 1: when we really got addressed these shits, because at home
- 42:05Speaker 1: is the root of all the rest of the problems
- 42:06Speaker 1: that can your world. So if we can stop that,
- 42:09Speaker 1: we can stop a lot of other shit. Yeah, but
- 42:11Speaker 1: we don't never you know, we're quick to point the
- 42:13Speaker 1: finger at everybody else. Yeah, broken homes man, I have
- 42:15Speaker 1: allowed to do with the Yeah, yeah, that's my You know,
- 42:17Speaker 1: I grew up in a great family. Once my mom
- 42:20Speaker 1: died from cancer, it was a rap. Well you said
- 42:22Speaker 1: that you kind of grew up without a household. Yeah,
- 42:24Speaker 1: well I lost my mom when I was twelve thirteen.
- 42:27Speaker 1: My mom died from pancretic cancer, and my dad lost
- 42:30Speaker 1: custody on me, like within six months of that. I
- 42:32Speaker 1: became aware of the state at the age of fourteen.
- 42:34Speaker 1: So you're just bouncing around, yes, sir, Yeah, damn yeah. Yeah,
- 42:37Speaker 1: So you know, like shit, I mean to each his own, bro,
- 42:41Speaker 1: But you know, I know the reality of this shit
- 42:44Speaker 1: that comes with it, you feel saying, And you know,
- 42:46Speaker 1: I move like I move a certain way. So but
- 42:49Speaker 1: I understand what I'm wanted to the consequences I want
- 42:51Speaker 1: to deal with, you know what I'm saying, and which
- 42:53Speaker 1: was I'm not you know what I mean. You were talking,
- 42:56Speaker 1: we were talking a little bit off camera, just kind
- 42:57Speaker 1: of about like Mexicans and hip hop. Yeah, and obviously
- 43:01Speaker 1: there's I feel like the landscape of Mexican hip hop
- 43:06Speaker 1: is at the best place it's ever been. Yeah, for sure,
- 43:09Speaker 1: Hell yeah, yeah, because I've seen both eras you know, right,
- 43:12Speaker 1: I was like I remember like when I first like
- 43:14Speaker 1: obviously growing up in Arizona, we have Empty Magic. We
- 43:17Speaker 1: go to the low Rider show. Was always at them
- 43:19Speaker 1: off for Tucson. Yeah, we were doing all them shows,
- 43:22Speaker 1: Fucking High Power Record and uh and uh you know
- 43:27Speaker 1: Little Rab and fucking brown Boy and all these guys
- 43:31Speaker 1: who know all these guys and it was big over there.
- 43:34Speaker 1: It was huge, but it was like an extreme. It
- 43:36Speaker 1: was it was literal Chicano rap. Hell yeah. And it
- 43:39Speaker 1: was pat thousands of thousands of hell yeah. Right, and
- 43:42Speaker 1: so like it was like I always would like Little
- 43:45Speaker 1: Rob I think was probably one of the only quote
- 43:48Speaker 1: unquote Chicano rappers because I don't consider Empty Magic that
- 43:51Speaker 1: because I think he just makes love music that they
- 43:53Speaker 1: just love. Yeah, he's he's Auto two singer before auto
- 43:57Speaker 1: two singers were popular, right, He's the voicebox guy after trail.
- 44:01Speaker 1: But Little Rob had like records that we played on
- 44:03Speaker 1: the radio, like hits, you know what I mean, around
- 44:06Speaker 1: the clock. Yeah, And so after him, I felt like, uh,
- 44:12Speaker 1: there was a few records Big Gemini had a cool joint,
- 44:15Speaker 1: But I felt like there's kind of been like once
- 44:18Speaker 1: that era kind of dried out, it was kind of
- 44:21Speaker 1: like dry. I feel like commercially for a lot of
- 44:24Speaker 1: Mexican hip hop and now, I mean, look, we talked
- 44:26Speaker 1: about King Little G kind of held that flag for
- 44:29Speaker 1: a long time. Now there's so many artists. Yes, there's
- 44:34Speaker 1: artists like a guy like Cap G. You know, there's
- 44:37Speaker 1: a guy who's from Atlanta. There's Swayed, there's Pay Tomorrow,
- 44:44Speaker 1: there's just Tony, there's so many do there's fucking mexicanot
- 44:48Speaker 1: from Houston. Man Gangam Like, we're killing it, dog. But
- 44:51Speaker 1: what's always happened with us is this bro like we're
- 44:54Speaker 1: misrepresented either in the business side or or we're misrepresented
- 45:00Speaker 1: on the streets. You feel what I'm saying and what
- 45:02Speaker 1: I mean by like the first era we're talking about
- 45:04Speaker 1: Lil Robin and them, right, it was exploited. The Chrolo
- 45:07Speaker 1: whole look was exploited. So you couldn't fucking even sell
- 45:10Speaker 1: it no more like Cosh was giving out deals to
- 45:13Speaker 1: just anybody, you know what I mean. So you would
- 45:15Speaker 1: go to that's where you got your deal, right, Yeah,
- 45:17Speaker 1: so you would go to target. Fuck, there was like
- 45:19Speaker 1: fifty different Mexican trollos on the shelves, like you didn't
- 45:22Speaker 1: even know what to pick up. And it wasn't based
- 45:24Speaker 1: on talent. They were just giving deals on looks because
- 45:27Speaker 1: they don't they don't. They didn't know how to calibrate
- 45:29Speaker 1: our talent or what we like, you know what I'm saying.
- 45:33Speaker 1: So then that happened, the oversaturation of the troloo look
- 45:36Speaker 1: to where it ended up becoming almost like a mockery
- 45:39Speaker 1: you feel I'm saying. It became it became a joke,
- 45:42Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Because we evolved in the streets,
- 45:45Speaker 1: but as far as like on the covers of CDs
- 45:47Speaker 1: and music, we weren't because they weren't letting no talent
- 45:50Speaker 1: new talent in you feel I'm saying. Because all them
- 45:53Speaker 1: cholos that they signed, a lot of them were hating
- 45:55Speaker 1: on the rest. You got understand that at that era,
- 45:57Speaker 1: we were still set tripped on each other like crazy.
- 46:00Speaker 1: So there was a lot of street politics that wuldn't
- 46:01Speaker 1: allow Oh homies dope well but he from eighteen, we
- 46:03Speaker 1: can't fuck with him, or homies from wife fans, we
- 46:06Speaker 1: can't fuck with you know what I'm saying, Like, there
- 46:07Speaker 1: was a lot of that going on. That's the biggest
- 46:10Speaker 1: change that I noticed this time. I came home like
- 46:12Speaker 1: the set tripping amongst us and the business wasn't as big.
- 46:17Speaker 1: But then what I saw was this, like we had
- 46:21Speaker 1: such a complex from sounding like Chicano rappers that at
- 46:25Speaker 1: this point we became the explorers of the black culture
- 46:28Speaker 1: by trying to sound too black, you feel what I'm saying.
- 46:31Speaker 1: So it's like, like Nipsey said in the album, you
- 46:33Speaker 1: get abuse, so long enough, you become the abuser. We
- 46:36Speaker 1: started abusing the game, you feel I saying. Now we're
- 46:39Speaker 1: looking for an identity, and yeah, there's a gang of
- 46:41Speaker 1: homies with talent, right coming up, coming, up, coming up.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Shout out to Berner too. Yeah, I mean to be honest,
- 46:47Speaker 1: Burner's probably the most successful Mexican ranges. Yeah, I mean shit.
- 46:53Speaker 1: So yeah, So now you got at this point, right,
- 46:55Speaker 1: and the little homies are being raised by IG and
- 46:59Speaker 1: what is IG mainly put out there, like the black
- 47:02Speaker 1: culture they're exploiting. I just exploited the ship of the
- 47:05Speaker 1: black culture to the fullest extent. Yeah, without black culture,
- 47:07Speaker 1: all these social media platforms the shit would be, you
- 47:10Speaker 1: know what I mean. But they're exploring them in the
- 47:11Speaker 1: wrong way. To me, I think, you know what I'm saying,
- 47:13Speaker 1: There is no highlighting educated black men. There is no
- 47:15Speaker 1: highlighting men black men that raise families that are pillars
- 47:19Speaker 1: in their community. You know what I'm saying. The ones
- 47:20Speaker 1: that do, they're getting laid out. Every single one is
- 47:23Speaker 1: getting laid out, you know what I mean, Like smoke,
- 47:24Speaker 1: you know, yeah, the shit that goes viral is always
- 47:27Speaker 1: the ship that's like, okay, we get it. Like some
- 47:29Speaker 1: of these Instagram pages really just focus on like the drama,
- 47:34Speaker 1: the craziest that shit, dog and what and what. They
- 47:36Speaker 1: don't realize that social media is raising this next generation,
- 47:40Speaker 1: right you feel I'm saying literally, they're they're raising the youth,
- 47:42Speaker 1: you know, because they have more influence from the phone
- 47:45Speaker 1: than even their own parents, you know what I'm saying.
- 47:48Speaker 1: So now that's where we're at. And I was just
- 47:50Speaker 1: having this conversation earlier with drummer Boy shot Out drum Boy.
- 47:52Speaker 1: He's another one, you know, at the fore front of
- 47:54Speaker 1: this ship and he's from Pomona. Yeah. Yeah, So the
- 47:58Speaker 1: homie's telling me, like he literally asked me the same shit,
- 48:01Speaker 1: but in a different contexts, Like, how do you feel
- 48:03Speaker 1: about where we're at right now? And I'm like, dog, like,
- 48:06Speaker 1: right now, we gotta fight for identity as a culture
- 48:08Speaker 1: because if we don't, what's gonna happen is we're gonna
- 48:11Speaker 1: become another Houston. And I don't mean that in no
- 48:14Speaker 1: disrespectful way, but the Hispanics in Houston have adapted the
- 48:19Speaker 1: black culture completely to where you can't really tell the
- 48:22Speaker 1: difference between a Mexican rapper and a Black rapper. Do
- 48:26Speaker 1: you think it's a subject matter thing? I know, I
- 48:30Speaker 1: just think that. I just think that, Man, you don't
- 48:33Speaker 1: really want to know what I think, dog, because it's
- 48:35Speaker 1: gonna sound ugly, But I think it comes with a
- 48:39Speaker 1: type of submission, bro, you know what I'm saying. Like
- 48:43Speaker 1: they gave up on trying to represent the culture in
- 48:45Speaker 1: its purest form, you know what I mean? So they
- 48:48Speaker 1: just kind of like, you know what, this is how
- 48:50Speaker 1: we're gonna get on, Like I could I could have.
- 48:52Speaker 1: I could easily say the N word in every song
- 48:54Speaker 1: right now, and I'll probably do better numbers. I could
- 48:58Speaker 1: probably go braids my dog and start doing you know
- 49:00Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like because that's where we're at right now.
- 49:03Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, everybody imitating the black culture
- 49:05Speaker 1: right without no regard for their culture, no regard for
- 49:09Speaker 1: their lineage, no regard for their blood, and nor regard
- 49:11Speaker 1: for their history. Yeah, I think like it also depends
- 49:14Speaker 1: on where you were raised, Because I look at a
- 49:15Speaker 1: guy like Nost I was gonna say, I look at
- 49:18Speaker 1: a guy like in certain I look like a guy
- 49:20Speaker 1: like Cap G, who's never I've never heard him say
- 49:22Speaker 1: the N word when you listen to cap G. He
- 49:24Speaker 1: was raised in Atlanta, right, so like a lot of
- 49:27Speaker 1: his music sounds like Atlanta, you know what I'm saying.
- 49:29Speaker 1: But then he'll have other records that have a lot
- 49:32Speaker 1: of heavily like he has a Day Without a Mexican,
- 49:34Speaker 1: which was a fucking banger. So I think Cap G
- 49:36Speaker 1: has done a really good job of like balancing. I'm
- 49:39Speaker 1: a dude who grew up where I grew up. I'm
- 49:42Speaker 1: from Atlanta, which is like, in my opinion, the capital
- 49:45Speaker 1: of like hip hop culture now, you know most definitely,
- 49:48Speaker 1: I think Cap G has done a great job of life.
- 49:50Speaker 1: So then why don't we see a lot more blacks
- 49:53Speaker 1: trying to be Mexican that grew up that grew up
- 49:55Speaker 1: around Mexicans. I don't. I mean, okay, that's the proof
- 49:59Speaker 1: of the pudding to me. You feel what I'm saying.
- 50:01Speaker 1: It's like, what's the biggest form of humility? Okay, then
- 50:06Speaker 1: you feel what I'm saying and I'm not and I'm
- 50:07Speaker 1: not and hey, well listen, listen, talk to me. Let's go.
- 50:12Speaker 1: There have been a lot of artists I hate to
- 50:15Speaker 1: beat the tiger horse dead. Yeah, but listen, but they
- 50:18Speaker 1: but they the way they do it is very strategically smart. Bro.
- 50:21Speaker 1: And then I know YG just put a record out
- 50:23Speaker 1: with Cucko. Yeah. So, like I think that there has
- 50:27Speaker 1: been and I think that, like, but it's a small
- 50:31Speaker 1: fucking number. True, But those guys grew up in La
- 50:35Speaker 1: YG signed uh savoy loco. You know, Wigi dresses like
- 50:41Speaker 1: us for the most part. He's got the Stacy Adams,
- 50:43Speaker 1: He's got the last of his head, his whole ship everything.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Like I think I think YG has been somebody who
- 50:49Speaker 1: obviously grew up around Mexicans and in my opinion at
- 50:52Speaker 1: least has paid homage tastefully. Hell yeah, I think Look, honestly,
- 50:57Speaker 1: for whatever people say about YG, and how they say it,
- 50:59Speaker 1: like I think that he comes off sincere when I
- 51:04Speaker 1: feel like he has sincere love. That's what I'm saying,
- 51:06Speaker 1: Like it's shit. I'm sorry that didn't come off sincere
- 51:10Speaker 1: at all, you know what I mean? That was like
- 51:11Speaker 1: it and listen much love to that and that is
- 51:14Speaker 1: old as fuck. He took the video down. It's great,
- 51:17Speaker 1: like all love to him. They're not the table, you know. Cool,
- 51:20Speaker 1: But it didn't come off. It came off. It didn't
- 51:23Speaker 1: come off. Whoever was behind him failed, you know what
- 51:26Speaker 1: I'm saying. But you know, like that's just the way
- 51:29Speaker 1: I see it, you know what I'm saying, Like that's
- 51:31Speaker 1: the way I see it, And it's about to do
- 51:33Speaker 1: another shift, Like it's about to do another shift, like
- 51:37Speaker 1: if you hit the black right now, there's no more
- 51:40Speaker 1: skinny jeans. The little homies are dressing like me now again,
- 51:44Speaker 1: white tea's and five of ones all day. I think, well,
- 51:46Speaker 1: I think to the other thing we got to talk
- 51:48Speaker 1: about is like, obviously hip hop is black culture most definitely,
- 51:51Speaker 1: So I think, well, I would say that it's white
- 51:53Speaker 1: and black culture. I think it's black and I know
- 51:55Speaker 1: a lot of Puerto Rican it's black. Now I'm gonna
- 51:57Speaker 1: tell you why I see that though white Beastie Boys. Fuck,
- 52:01Speaker 1: you mean one of the first hip hop groups ever. Yeah,
- 52:03Speaker 1: but the first that put it on your right right wrong.
- 52:06Speaker 1: But that was like eighty forty. I understand it wasn't
- 52:08Speaker 1: like at the roots, but I'm saying, when it mattered,
- 52:11Speaker 1: come on, it was a bunch of white boys from
- 52:13Speaker 1: right here. I think. I think it's you know, we
- 52:16Speaker 1: go back to like, you know, seventy nine eighty Puerto
- 52:20Speaker 1: Ricans and blacks. Yeah, you know what I mean? For
- 52:22Speaker 1: sure over there yeah the mecca right like, hell yeah,
- 52:26Speaker 1: most definitely. But when it took the stage and it
- 52:30Speaker 1: was really time to make it a business, it was
- 52:32Speaker 1: the Beastie Boys and it was cool. Hello, cool j
- 52:34Speaker 1: Beastie Boys. You know what I'm saying. So, you know,
- 52:38Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just that's not how I feel. I'm
- 52:42Speaker 1: just going by what I saw growing up because I'm
- 52:43Speaker 1: a getting hip hop fan, you know what I'm saying.
- 52:45Speaker 1: But but there's beef over that too, Like people, Man,
- 52:49Speaker 1: who gives a fuck? Dog? I believe, like, look, dog,
- 52:53Speaker 1: how do you create something? There's the people that build it,
- 52:56Speaker 1: and there's the people that fund the building. We funded
- 52:59Speaker 1: the building, So how are we not a part of it?
- 53:02Speaker 1: If we didn't believe in it, push hip hop the
- 53:04Speaker 1: creation of it, and stand behind it, it would have
- 53:06Speaker 1: never took off the way it did. I mean, and
- 53:08Speaker 1: I mean all of us, I think. But I think,
- 53:09Speaker 1: like the answer to what you were asking, like why
- 53:11Speaker 1: don't people imitating what we're doing? I think if you, like, one,
- 53:15Speaker 1: black culture is the number one most influential culture in
- 53:18Speaker 1: the US, and you could say in Asia, everywhere in
- 53:23Speaker 1: the world, and hip hop culture, hip hop is the
- 53:26Speaker 1: number one genre of music in the world. That's that's
- 53:28Speaker 1: a fact fact. So hip hop is the number one
- 53:31Speaker 1: genre of music, and it's it's it's derived from black culture.
- 53:36Speaker 1: It is it is black culture, you know what I'm saying.
- 53:38Speaker 1: So I think that that and black culture is the
- 53:41Speaker 1: most influential culture in the country period, Like that's no
- 53:44Speaker 1: debating debate, Like fashion, you go to H and M,
- 53:47Speaker 1: you's all deriving one hundred. So I think that that's
- 53:51Speaker 1: probably a little bit more closer to like why you
- 53:53Speaker 1: were like, yo, well, why is nobody imitating what we're doing?
- 53:56Speaker 1: And I do think that obviously, like there's very small
- 53:59Speaker 1: example were Okay, I hear that part of the argument,
- 54:02Speaker 1: and I thought about that part of argument. But then
- 54:05Speaker 1: when I see rap videos low Riders, especially on the
- 54:09Speaker 1: West coast, you know why I was gonna say, would
- 54:11Speaker 1: you consider I mean because to me, right it is us,
- 54:13Speaker 1: that's us. Hell yeah, but you think about you know,
- 54:17Speaker 1: doctor dres Hell. Yeah, they adopted it. Yeah, but they
- 54:20Speaker 1: did it right though, And then a gimmicky didn't say
- 54:23Speaker 1: that they did it in a way that they paid homage. Hell, yeah,
- 54:26Speaker 1: they did it class. They did it with class, you
- 54:27Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. They they represented, they they they
- 54:31Speaker 1: because really low Riders is obviously a Mexican thing, but
- 54:36Speaker 1: a thing. Yeah, yeah, start on the East side. Yeah,
- 54:39Speaker 1: but I think that the way they did it was
- 54:42Speaker 1: they showed like the parts they should highlight, like the
- 54:47Speaker 1: dope ship that we do, you know what I'm saying that,
- 54:49Speaker 1: you know, goofy ship, you know what I'm saying. Or
- 54:51Speaker 1: motherfuckers dressed like mariats, like we don't we're not out here,
- 54:55Speaker 1: dress like you know what I'm saying, Like, I mean,
- 54:56Speaker 1: let's just be real, you feel I'm saying. I get it.
- 54:58Speaker 1: It's a part of the culture, huge part of cult.
- 55:00Speaker 1: I never see one of my homies on the block
- 55:02Speaker 1: dressed like a Mariachi Mariacci say it right, like I'm
- 55:05Speaker 1: talking like you know what I mean, Like I don't
- 55:07Speaker 1: know no better, but you know what I'm saying. So
- 55:09Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. I'm just a person that
- 55:12Speaker 1: goes by facts, and I like, I like honesty. You
- 55:14Speaker 1: so what I'm saying. So if I'm gonna be honest,
- 55:16Speaker 1: like I see a lot of shit that that isn't
- 55:19Speaker 1: necessarily fair, but it is what it is, Doug, Like,
- 55:22Speaker 1: at this point, you know, we're either gonna We're either
- 55:26Speaker 1: gonna rise from this with our own foundation, our own structure,
- 55:31Speaker 1: or we're just gonna become a part of the rest
- 55:32Speaker 1: of the machine, you know what I'm saying. So it's
- 55:35Speaker 1: on us, I think at that part. And that's what
- 55:36Speaker 1: I was talking to a drummer boy about, Like I
- 55:38Speaker 1: told him, like, look, bro, like this is your time.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Like what you guys do at this moment is going
- 55:44Speaker 1: to define our people in the game for a while,
- 55:47Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Because right now, like as
- 55:48Speaker 1: a people in this music game, we're searching for an identity,
- 55:51Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, We really are Like I
- 55:53Speaker 1: was talking to him earlier about the way that he
- 55:55Speaker 1: creates music, you know, and I was telling him the
- 55:57Speaker 1: same ship, like, Bro, if you look different and you're
- 55:59Speaker 1: different ethnicicity, you should be through the roof right now. Bro.
- 56:03Speaker 1: But you gotta fight the stigma, you know what I'm saying.
- 56:05Speaker 1: So do you fight the stigma? Do you? Because hip
- 56:08Speaker 1: hop don't love us? For whatever it's worth, we love
- 56:10Speaker 1: hip hop, but hip hop don't love us at all,
- 56:12Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. So are you gonna stay
- 56:15Speaker 1: in a toxic relationship or are you gonna move on
- 56:17Speaker 1: and find a new Breezians make your family? You know?
- 56:20Speaker 1: You know what I really think it is, Man, I
- 56:22Speaker 1: think there has to be an honest conversation where we're like,
- 56:28Speaker 1: who's the who's the Mexican rapper that you feel like
- 56:34Speaker 1: was on the same level as Drake or jay Z
- 56:38Speaker 1: or there hasn't been one ever, So that's what I'm saying.
- 56:41Speaker 1: It's gonna take that guy, But why though has there been?
- 56:43Speaker 1: I mean, it's gonna take that guy where you're like,
- 56:47Speaker 1: there's somebody that's so dope it's undeniable. So to me,
- 56:51Speaker 1: it's like there's been a lot of cool, like cool
- 56:53Speaker 1: dope Mexican artists, But has there been one that's so
- 56:57Speaker 1: crazy that that's just undeniable, whether it's ability. Look at
- 57:01Speaker 1: the one that they did, the one that they did
- 57:04Speaker 1: blow up for no talent on I mean six ' nine, bro,
- 57:08Speaker 1: the one that they did blow up, like, come on, bro, Okay, Okay,
- 57:10Speaker 1: So I do not even want to get into disinsion
- 57:13Speaker 1: thing because that's been Yeah. That's besides, six nine had records.
- 57:18Speaker 1: He had undeniable records, Okay, so it didn't matter if
- 57:21Speaker 1: he was indeniable. How come LA wasn't jamming them all
- 57:24Speaker 1: crazy in the clubs? They were the clubs? Isn't the
- 57:27Speaker 1: streets though? Bro? The club is one stream I'm talking about.
- 57:30Speaker 1: I'm talking about twenty eighteen when I try and dropped,
- 57:34Speaker 1: who wasn't playing that ship on the block everybody? Okay?
- 57:36Speaker 1: Then let's go more relevant, when YG dropped My crazy life,
- 57:40Speaker 1: Who in the fuck wasn't playing that ship out here? Everybody? Everybody?
- 57:43Speaker 1: Every that's everywhere? Because I traveled everywhere, you were playing?
- 57:46Speaker 1: All right? Six nine wasn't booming like that? I don't know.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I think a lot of those numbers six nine see
- 57:52Speaker 1: to me, the six nine Ship was to me a
- 57:53Speaker 1: perfect example of somebody who just made records that like
- 57:55Speaker 1: were kind of undeniable, so it didn't really matter that
- 57:58Speaker 1: he was a clown this before he snitched. Yeah, of course.
- 58:03Speaker 1: And we had that conversation where I was like, artists
- 58:06Speaker 1: gotta like happened to be Mexican, but be dope first.
- 58:11Speaker 1: And I think six nine six nine people were like, oh,
- 58:15Speaker 1: he's got some gumbo and all that ship was for them.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Ships were hard, The Nikki record was hard and he
- 58:20Speaker 1: happened to be a Mexican guy. Does that make sense? Yeah?
- 58:23Speaker 1: It does. Yeah. So I think like he had records,
- 58:25Speaker 1: but was he but was he under I think he had,
- 58:28Speaker 1: but was he represent the culture? I think he was
- 58:33Speaker 1: representing his culture how he grew up. Maybe does that
- 58:35Speaker 1: make sense? I don't know, Yeah I could be. I
- 58:38Speaker 1: don't know. Yeah, you know what I'm saying, But Ship
- 58:41Speaker 1: I think that. I think I think that. But that's
- 58:44Speaker 1: an example of what I was saying, Like he's the
- 58:47Speaker 1: artist that like is making undeniable hit records or is
- 58:50Speaker 1: just so crazy that it's like, Yo, this motherfucking king
- 58:54Speaker 1: lit g broke through, right and he's selling out shows
- 58:58Speaker 1: all over the nation. He was on why the fuck
- 59:00Speaker 1: was there no love? Because he represented me? And how
- 59:03Speaker 1: I look that's fair, you understand. I'm saying, like the homie,
- 59:06Speaker 1: look at Snow. The product that girl, the product she
- 59:09Speaker 1: does shows everywhere does it? She's still not getting what
- 59:11Speaker 1: she just got nominated for a Latin Grammy. Thank God
- 59:14Speaker 1: for her God and Snow and Snow is the you know,
- 59:18Speaker 1: she's God level MC for That's okay. So that's what
- 59:22Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like why why why? I don't know the
- 59:25Speaker 1: little girl Munch just took off fucking know where one.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Snow's never had one of those records. What the fuck?
- 59:30Speaker 1: And everybody's flying around. No, I'm just speaking facts, like
- 59:33Speaker 1: you know what I mean, can Munch this much that
- 59:35Speaker 1: and this ship? Bullshit? Like the track isn't that hard?
- 59:37Speaker 1: I mean, but you know as a TikTok thing, Yeah,
- 59:40Speaker 1: but you got to Snow the products slaughtering ship Like
- 59:43Speaker 1: I mean, come on, bro, Snow is slaughtering ship in
- 59:46Speaker 1: her world in the same way that like think of
- 59:49Speaker 1: Tech nine. Tech nine can wrap his fucking ass off.
- 59:53Speaker 1: I think she's more dimensional than him, of course, because
- 59:55Speaker 1: she's she's I heard radio place that's that's not a
- 59:59Speaker 1: direct like relation to their followings or their music. See
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: what you're saying, you know what I'm saying. So I
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: just think that, like, yeah, man, I think I think
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: that with everything we talked about, what we can both
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: agree on is that it's all going in the positive direction.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Well yeah, any any any fucking momentum is good. I mean, look,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Money Science Swage has a deal with Atlantic Records. Oh yeah,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: I mean he was on Atlantic. He's about to drop
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: a record with j Balvin. You know, you got homies
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: like me run around, turns it up and dependently on
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I'm doing features off. I shouldn't be doing them, but
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I couldn't do him fifteen years ago. And you say,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: you're you got a project on the way with Benny
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: the Butcher. Yeah, well Benny's a friend of the family,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: you know, so I got something coming with the boy
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: in the future. I just dropped my album Hunger Games too.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I got prayers. You got prayers on their shots and prayers, shots, prayer, prayers.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: So however, he goes into penalty too. Yeah he's firing,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: but he don't wrap. But he's the way that he's
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: doing it. Yeah, he ain't let her go. Yeah, he
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: ain't letting that go. Hell or no, he got like
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: the if it was a Selena cave on these pay
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: next right, I mean I would be like the sweethearts
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: of our community, you know. Yeah, like when you work
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: with someone like Prayers who obviously maybe uh sonically is
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: a little bit, but he's a south Sider like me,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: So we bond on that level, you feel what I'm saying,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: And and and you know, like there's something to be
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: said about our brotherhood, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: that south Side brotherhood is very it's very how can
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: you say, man Like it's automatic love, bro. You know,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: so we gel, we vibe, and it was it was
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: a Yeah, it was like a puzzle to put together,
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Even the production was was
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: very hard to find. But we did it, you know
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: what I mean. And I think it was dope. You
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like to bring two roles together
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: that that represent art, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: we're not on some ignorant just you know what I mean,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: making noise. We really trying to make records. You feel
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: saying that's important? Yeah, I think that's important to make
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: records important. So so yeah we just did that. Should
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: we moving out here? You know what I mean? We
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: we As far as myself personally, I just concentrate on
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: making timeless music dog like. I'm not here to fall
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: trans s important. I'm not here to like ship appease anybody.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Like, I'm just trying to
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: follow my horror, my soul, and thus far ship just
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: work less. It's led me to all right, Look I'm
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: here with you. You know what I'm saying. I met
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: you were backstage with Benny and then yeah you were
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: shroome the funk out as I'm saying, you feel me.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Look who was back there? Freeway Rick was back there
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: with the real Freeway rig Who else is back to?
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Legendary people like the Crooked Eye alchemists, like think about
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: these are all people that I grew up like, I
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: met jay Z, I met jay Z. You meet jay Z,
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I met jay Z. You were there too, food, But
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I didn't say what's to you where? No, I didn't
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: because there's so many people there. We went to the
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: Noble we were all there. Yeah, yeah, hell yeah, I
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: went with the whole country shut the trip on that.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: That goes to another thing. Shout out to jay Z
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: though I'm not saying this too, you know, but me
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: and the homie, right, we're in the hallway. We're the
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: only two essays in the hallway and there you know
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: the noble set up. Yeah. So I'm a huge jay
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Z fan. Like one of the only this, I tell you,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: one of the only albums I had on the yard
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: was like a reasonable doubt. I had a reasonable doubt.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: I had Graduation, and then I had Mob Deep Murder
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Music you know, classics, classics, right, So those are the
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: three albums that I'm doing time with, right, so fuck,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: Like I said, okay, so I'm in. I'm waiting for
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Benny because I know how the shows end. I wanted
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: to get to the back. Yeah you know what it
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: is or yeah, yeah before everybody all the Russia comes in.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: So I see gpre goes homeboy with him his older homie.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: I forgot his name, but his ogi homie. I recognize
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: him first. And then that's when Jigga had the dreads,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: you know, the big thing. So right away I was like,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: oh ship, that's that's jay Z and the homies, Like no,
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: it's not. I'm like food, trust me, that's whole fool like,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: you know. So he walks by, and sure enough we
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: see him. But I didn't want to you know, hey
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: what you know what I'm saying, like, I don't know.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I'd rather just admire a boy from the distance, you know,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: and and enjoy the moment. So he goes over there,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: and then on the way back, Jigga comes out by himself, literally,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: you know, and I'm tripping like damn, no security with
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: old boy, like what the fuck? And it's just me
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: and the homie stand in the corner and I'm dressed
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: almost like whath I'm dressed? Right now? I got my
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: go down. The homie got way more shit than me.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: But we're both bald and we're chilling, and jay Z
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: walks up to me right and he's like, what's up, brother,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: And I'm like, what's up? You know what I mean?
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: I didn't even know how to act, to be honest
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: with you, So I shake his hand. We exchanged a
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: few words politely, and then he leaves and then I
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: pull on my phone. I take a picture from behind
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: around like I would have got the pick. I wanted
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: to bro, but I'll all my coup points can get
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: thrown right out through and I'd be like, yo, Jay, look, yeah,
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I gotta get that. So when he walks away, I
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: swear to you. I don't know why, but the first
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: that comes to my mind, I was like, Damn, I
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: bet you. I bet you. Jay Z thought we were
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: the plug. There's no way he thought I wrapped her,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: fucking you rap. You know what I'm saying, Like, I
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: know for a fact this mother buy thought we were
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: the plug. You know what I'm saying. But either way
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: though it was dope. You feel the saying. But but yeah,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: all that shit, you know, it's all due diligence and
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: like hard work and carrying yourself the right way, you
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. Like, I know a lot of
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: people highlight ignorance right now, but dog, let me tell you,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: like on the block, what's gonna make you survive and
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: make you thrive is your intelligence, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: at the end of the day, Like knowing how to move,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: knowing where to be at, knowing how to conduct yourself.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Like all that loudmouth shit is only good on the phone. Dog, Yeah,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: when it comes to real, real business, Nobody wants to
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: sit across the table from somebody that's a liability, you feel,
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I'm saying, And somebody that don't know about investing, somebody
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: that doesn't believe in the worth of where they're at
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: and what they're doing at the moment. Like I know
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: the worst because Doug, in the blink of an eye,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I could go back to the cell I remember that
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: bitch vividly. You fee what I'm saying. Right now? What
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: time is it? It's two o'clock. Right now, I'd be
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: watching on the People's Court. I'd be watching the People's Court.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: I'd be getting ready to go out to the yard,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: right two o'clock, yard, right man, the first unlock two o'clock,
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: we'd be ready, I'd have. I'd be on the toilet,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: no lie three yard, waiting for my daughter unlock, while
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: my celly is on the bunk looking like a raging
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: bull ready to come out to yard. Because we're that
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: excited to come out for a few an hour. So crazy,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I want to shout out
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: to a couple of artists. We're talking about dope rappers, coyotes, dope.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Those those dudes are incredible and dope man from uh Houston, Houston. Yeah,
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: hit your raper's ass off. Yeah, I had a little
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I had. I had a communication with the Coyotes, you know,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: when they well I'm sure they're still sign a whack,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: but you know, I just reached out to them, you
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, and told them, like man, dog like,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: there's better ways to go about this ship. I would
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: say that just because someone signed to somebody doesn't necessarily
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: mean that they you know, I feel you feel I
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: say that too, But I mean to this point, unfortunately,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: the Mexican artist signed a whax, so whax yeah exactly. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: so you know, but but they're doing their things ship,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: you know, and you know it's all love, you know
