- 0:00Speaker 1: It's really difficult to find people who are motivated to
- 0:02Speaker 1: work and who want to live up to our standards.
- 0:06Speaker 2: After owning the hotel for just six weeks, Reena found
- 0:08Speaker 2: working a bit much, so she took the weekend off
- 0:11Speaker 2: in Minneapolis, 200 miles away, and she didn't return for
- 0:15Speaker 2: three months. While she was away, the hotel was left
- 0:19Speaker 2: at the mercy of her younger sister, Vanda. Vanda considers
- 0:23Speaker 2: herself very hardworking. Although she doesn't get out of bed
- 0:26Speaker 2: until 3 o'clock every afternoon, leaving the hotel understaffed.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Are they owners as well? They're investors.
- 0:33Speaker 4: They're investors.
- 0:34Speaker 3: So your parents bought you this place? Yes.
- 0:36Speaker 1: The moment we saw this place, I knew I had
- 0:39Speaker 1: to have it. So I found every single way possible
- 0:42Speaker 1: to convince my daddy. No matter what I had to do,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I just had to have it.
- 0:46Speaker 4: My God, this chick is 32 years old and she
- 0:49Speaker 4: still calls her father daddy like she's six. People work
- 0:53Speaker 4: under her? Rina and her younger sister Vanda, who is 27,
- 0:57Speaker 4: are in charge of the Kalima Inn, a historical monument
- 1:00Speaker 4: that their daddy purchased for them for.
- 1:03Speaker 3: $ 300, 000.
- 1:04Speaker 4: Not only that, but they are trying to hide the
- 1:06Speaker 4: fact that their parents are doing all the work by
- 1:08Speaker 4: calling their father an investor and their mother a housekeeper.
- 1:12Speaker 4: What a joke. They are taking charge of people when
- 1:15Speaker 4: they haven't earned their position at all. This seems to
- 1:19Speaker 4: happen quite frequently when women run things. They try to
- 1:22Speaker 4: flip words around to conceal the reality of their situation
- 1:25Speaker 4: instead of doing actual work. And I say that from
- 1:28Speaker 4: extensive experience. Being a former yoga teacher, I've worked for many,
- 1:33Speaker 4: many female business owners. I've worked for several female entrepreneurs
- 1:37Speaker 4: who had their rich husband subsidize their failing yoga studio.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I worked for a manager at a gym whose mommy
- 1:44Speaker 4: got her the position. She was probably the worst manager
- 1:47Speaker 4: I've ever had. And last... A few years back, I
- 1:50Speaker 4: had a studio owner ask to meet with me to
- 1:52Speaker 4: talk to her about how to put yoga videos on
- 1:54Speaker 4: the internet, where she basically asked me to do all
- 1:57Speaker 4: the camera work, all the audio, and all the editing
- 2:00Speaker 4: for free. So with that said, this episode of Hotel
- 2:03Speaker 4: Hell triggered some harsh flashbacks from my past, and it
- 2:07Speaker 4: was very triggering to watch Rina and Vonda be responsible
- 2:10Speaker 4: for people's livelihoods, considering how incompetent they are. So they
- 2:16Speaker 4: have been working at a hotel for months, and they
- 2:19Speaker 4: don't even know how to use the cash register. Let
- 2:22Speaker 4: me repeat that. They have been working at their business
- 2:24Speaker 4: for months, and they don't know how to accept money
- 2:27Speaker 4: from their customers.
- 2:29Speaker 3: What do you do?
- 2:31Speaker 1: I'm seriously still confused what my role is here. I
- 2:33Speaker 1: feel like I don't understand.
- 2:35Speaker 3: You own the place, you don't know what your role is.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Maybe that's just because they haven't had any actual customers,
- 2:42Speaker 4: so they haven't had to do any real work yet.
- 2:45Speaker 4: I can't imagine why nobody wants to give them business.
- 2:49Speaker 3: Is that mold in there?
- 2:51Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if it were mold.
- 2:54Speaker 3: This is the broccoli cauliflower. Right. Get you a new drink.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you. So sorry. Taste it. Just a
- 3:05Speaker 3: small bit. Look.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Mm-mm. I would not spend my money here at the restaurant.
- 3:15Speaker 3: No.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I think the food sucks.
- 3:18Speaker 4: You don't see that as a giant red flag. You
- 3:21Speaker 4: are expecting people to pay you for food that even
- 3:23Speaker 4: you wouldn't eat. When you start a business and you
- 3:27Speaker 4: don't have any customers, you don't just sit around all
- 3:29Speaker 4: day and wait for people to show up. Your job,
- 3:32Speaker 4: until people start paying you, is to spend every waking
- 3:35Speaker 4: second trying to turn your business into something people want
- 3:38Speaker 4: to spend money on. But they aren't adult enough for that.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I mean, they are 27 and 32, and their mommy
- 3:43Speaker 4: still cooks their meals.
- 3:47Speaker 3: How many times a week do you cook for your daughters?
- 3:49Speaker 3: Seven days a week. Those babies need to grow up. Jeez.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Imagine dating one of them. And ladies, I say this
- 3:57Speaker 4: as someone who cooks all of his own food. Cooking
- 4:00Speaker 4: is not that hard. Hell, Gordon Ramsay has his own
- 4:03Speaker 4: YouTube channel where you can learn how to cook for
- 4:05Speaker 4: free from a world-class chef. But I bet that most
- 4:09Speaker 4: of you don't even know how to keep a knife sharp.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Cleaning isn't that hard either. Do you know how easy
- 4:15Speaker 4: it is to clean mold out of a refrigerator? Some
- 4:18Speaker 4: bleach in about five minutes will keep that thing clean
- 4:20Speaker 4: for months, if not years. They aren't even doing the basics.
- 4:24Speaker 4: I mean, certainly Daddy purchased the hotel for only 300 grand,
- 4:28Speaker 4: so he probably isn't going to be able to afford
- 4:30Speaker 4: to refurbish all 36 rooms, but you don't have to
- 4:33Speaker 4: do that. In a business situation where you don't have
- 4:36Speaker 4: the money to dot all the I's and cross all
- 4:38Speaker 4: the T's, you need to focus on the highest priority
- 4:41Speaker 4: things that people care about. And it turns out that
- 4:44Speaker 4: most people don't care about all the bells and whistles.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Even with YouTube, a lot of people think you need
- 4:49Speaker 4: to have phenomenal editing to run a successful channel. I
- 4:52Speaker 4: can assure you that it does not matter how well
- 4:54Speaker 4: you can edit if your content sucks. So with a hotel,
- 4:58Speaker 4: if you show people a nice, competent staff who know
- 5:01Speaker 4: the area, if you show people amazing food, if you
- 5:03Speaker 4: show people spotless rooms, they will attend your business. And
- 5:07Speaker 4: those things are nearly free compared to what it would
- 5:10Speaker 4: cost to remodel the entire hotel. However, the sisters are
- 5:14Speaker 4: too busy blaming all their problems on their staff instead
- 5:17Speaker 4: of trying to figure out what their customers want.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Why is this hotel in such a state?
- 5:21Speaker 1: We have a lot of problems.
- 5:24Speaker 3: With the staff.
- 5:26Speaker 1: It's so hard, Gordon, to just repeat myself.
- 5:28Speaker 3: What are the problems? Rudeness. Unprofessionalism.
- 5:32Speaker 1: There is a chronic disease here of complaining and bitching.
- 5:38Speaker 3: So we've got a big problem with the staff.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Yes, we do. You're welcome for the jobs.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You're welcome for the tips. You're welcome.
- 5:44Speaker 3: You're welcome.
- 5:46Speaker 4: A key sign of a terrible manager is that they
- 5:48Speaker 4: don't realize that they set the culture of the business.
- 5:52Speaker 4: They determine how their staff acts and they even determine
- 5:55Speaker 4: what kinds of customers show up to their business. If
- 5:58Speaker 4: there is a chronic disease for complaining and bitching, That's
- 6:01Speaker 4: the manager's fault. Where do you think the staff learned
- 6:04Speaker 4: that behavior was acceptable? From the manager. Everything here is
- 6:08Speaker 4: just a projection from Rena and Vonda. They say their
- 6:11Speaker 4: staff is rude, and they say their staff is unprofessional. Well,
- 6:15Speaker 4: do you think that not knowing how the cash register
- 6:18Speaker 4: works is professional? If your staff is rude to you,
- 6:22Speaker 4: it's because you're rude to them. And the great thing
- 6:24Speaker 4: about this show is that we get to hear both
- 6:27Speaker 4: sides of the story. So let's hear what the staff
- 6:30Speaker 4: has to say about Vonda and Rena.
- 6:32Speaker 3: How would you describe the owners?
- 6:33Speaker 1: Vonda is a borderline sociopath.
- 6:36Speaker 4: The other one, I don't know. I can't describe her.
- 6:38Speaker 3: She's never here.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I want to tell Gordon if things don't change, nobody's
- 6:43Speaker 2: going to be here.
- 6:44Speaker 3: The Calumet will close. The two owners, do they know
- 6:47Speaker 3: that you can run this place? No, we are all
- 6:50Speaker 3: incompetent to them. Wow, what frustrates you most about the
- 6:52Speaker 3: two sisters?
- 7:05Speaker 4: Well, their general manager hates them. That probably has nothing
- 7:08Speaker 4: to do with the fact that they demoted her, the
- 7:10Speaker 4: only competent employee, and took her place. That's a problem.
- 7:15Speaker 4: They should have been kissing their GM Mandy's ass until
- 7:18Speaker 4: they learned every facet of the business and then took
- 7:21Speaker 4: over instead of arrogantly swiping the position away from her
- 7:24Speaker 4: just so they could have a fancy title.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Who's the most assertive about the sisters?
- 7:28Speaker 1: Fanda.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Because Rina's not here.
- 7:30Speaker 1: No.
- 7:31Speaker 3: How committed are they to running the business? Don't care.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I think they look at it as like, well, I
- 7:37Speaker 1: own it, so we can do whatever we want. Sleep
- 7:39Speaker 1: till three in the afternoon, keep the bar open till
- 7:41Speaker 1: five in the morning. I mean, how do you respect
- 7:43Speaker 1: somebody who does that?
- 7:44Speaker 3: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. You used to
- 7:47Speaker 3: love my job, and now I hate it. I can
- 7:52Speaker 3: see what's not working for you. The owners.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Great. Your waitstaff and your chef hate you too. Do
- 7:59Speaker 4: people work hard and give their all to people they hate?
- 8:03Speaker 3: No.
- 8:04Speaker 4: So you shouldn't see their behavior as a shock. Also,
- 8:08Speaker 4: there's something here that particularly bothers me about the huge
- 8:11Speaker 4: entitlement of we own this business so we can do
- 8:14Speaker 4: whatever we want. No, you can't. You came into something
- 8:18Speaker 4: that was already established, and you have other people's lives
- 8:21Speaker 4: at stake. It's your job to keep them employed, not
- 8:25Speaker 4: to act like arrogant children. This hotel is not some
- 8:28Speaker 4: collector's item your daddy bought you so you can show
- 8:30Speaker 4: off to your friends. Real people work here. And what
- 8:33Speaker 4: an insult to the customers who have worked their hard
- 8:36Speaker 4: jobs only to mistakenly waste their money at this business.
- 8:40Speaker 3: So let's start with you.
- 8:41Speaker 1: I'll tell you, the room was very disappointing. We look
- 8:46Speaker 1: for historic buildings when we go places.
- 8:48Speaker 3: And this was just a shame. It was like it
- 8:50Speaker 3: was neglected.
- 8:51Speaker 1: It was run down to the ground before we purchased
- 8:53Speaker 1: this place.
- 8:54Speaker 3: For about 10 years.
- 8:54Speaker 2: For 10 years.
- 8:55Speaker 3: You've got to stop blaming people.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Nobody cares about the condition you bought the hotel in. Hell,
- 9:01Speaker 4: a lot of the complaints were simply about the ugly wallpaper.
- 9:05Speaker 4: All you would have to do is tear the wallpaper down,
- 9:08Speaker 4: repaint the rooms, and change the linens. Maybe redo the
- 9:11Speaker 4: rugs too. All of that is extremely cheap, and when
- 9:15Speaker 4: you look at the makeovers that were done, that is literally...
- 9:18Speaker 4: all they did. With the exception of maybe the rug,
- 9:22Speaker 4: all of that can be learned on YouTube for free
- 9:25Speaker 4: and be done without professional help. They could have been
- 9:28Speaker 4: doing this instead of drinking all night or taking a
- 9:30Speaker 4: three-month vacation because things got too hard.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Would any of you come back to stay here? Absolutely not.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Not one of you.
- 9:42Speaker 4: While that makes sense, considering that this is how they
- 9:44Speaker 4: respond to criticisms, I'm not going to tolerate disrespect.
- 9:48Speaker 1: We're not getting paid.
- 9:49Speaker 4: We're not paying ourselves.
- 9:50Speaker 3: You can't, as owners, complain about not being paid.
- 9:52Speaker 2: You have turned every member of staff against you.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Have you ever employed.
- 10:00Speaker 2: one single member of staff? She's been at work today
- 10:02Speaker 2: in her life.
- 10:04Speaker 3: You don't know me.
- 10:04Speaker 1: My God, that is the most basic non-argument that women
- 10:06Speaker 1: use all the time.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And it's coming from two women who have done nothing.
- 10:09Speaker 3: The reality is that if.
- 10:11Speaker 4: They were actually working, then the staff and the customers
- 10:35Speaker 4: would notice the fruits of their labor. They would say
- 10:38Speaker 4: things like, Wow, Rina, you work so hard, I never
- 10:41Speaker 4: see you take a break! Instead of multiple employees complaining
- 10:45Speaker 4: that Rina is never at work and cries all the time.
- 10:48Speaker 4: It's insulting to watch them get offended when their employees
- 10:51Speaker 4: bring up the very obvious fact that Rina and Vonda
- 10:54Speaker 4: are lazy.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Do you honestly think that you are capable of running
- 10:58Speaker 2: this hotel?
- 10:59Speaker 1: When I want something bad enough and when I have
- 11:01Speaker 1: my mind up to it, I always, I always accomplish.
- 11:05Speaker 2: At 32 years of age, tell me one thing that
- 11:08Speaker 2: you've accomplished in your life on your own.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I worked when I was 14 at a fast food place.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Are you serious?
- 11:23Speaker 2: You want me to get impressed with that?
- 11:25Speaker 1: No, but I'm just saying.
- 11:28Speaker 4: That's pretty good. Hell, I'm surprised that she was even
- 11:31Speaker 4: able to get a job.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Rita, does she always run away when things get hard?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Now, does everyone see the problem with giving people positions
- 11:44Speaker 4: of power they don't deserve? This is what you get.
- 11:47Speaker 4: A bunch of entitled, arrogant children who don't care about
- 11:50Speaker 4: the lives they are destroying. And there are many examples
- 11:53Speaker 4: of this in today's society. Hell, there was one that
- 11:55Speaker 4: just went viral. I'm sure a lot of you have
- 11:57Speaker 4: heard what's happening with Marvel. They picked up a bunch
- 12:00Speaker 4: of writers who were obvious diversity hires, and those writers
- 12:03Speaker 4: are tanking a business that has survived for 80 years.
- 12:06Speaker 4: How about instead of hiring someone because she's a woman,
- 12:09Speaker 4: you hire her because she's a good writer? How about
- 12:11Speaker 4: instead of hiring an African-American non-gender conforming zur to get
- 12:15Speaker 4: more points at the oppression Olympics, you employ someone who
- 12:18Speaker 4: knows what the fans want? This is exactly what happens
- 12:21Speaker 4: when you let SJWs run things. They destroy everything in
- 12:24Speaker 4: their path. And it's these very people who are always
- 12:27Speaker 4: shouting about how they are the most kind, the most
- 12:29Speaker 4: helpful and caring and moral people. Really? Do you care
- 12:34Speaker 4: about all the comic book stores that are going to
- 12:35Speaker 4: go out of business because nobody is going to buy
- 12:37Speaker 4: a book with two lead characters named Safe Space and Snowflake?
- 12:41Speaker 4: Do you care about all the industries that are dying
- 12:43Speaker 4: because you spend more time on propaganda than actual storytelling?
- 12:47Speaker 4: It sounds like you care a lot more about your
- 12:49Speaker 4: paycheck and your job title than you do about all
- 12:52Speaker 4: the livelihoods of those people who are going to lose
- 12:54Speaker 4: their jobs and their businesses. Feminists love to complain about
- 12:58Speaker 4: men owning everything. Well, do you want to know why
- 13:01Speaker 4: men are always at the top? It's because no one
- 13:03Speaker 4: gives men anything. We don't get laws that force us
- 13:07Speaker 4: onto company boards like women do. We don't get gender quotas.
- 13:10Speaker 4: We don't get lowered standards in the military so that
- 13:12Speaker 4: we can have a higher rank while being less qualified.
- 13:15Speaker 4: When people hand you everything on a silver platter, you
- 13:18Speaker 4: don't learn the necessary skills you need to survive on
- 13:20Speaker 4: your own. You don't push as hard and you don't
- 13:22Speaker 4: do things like you mean it because you know someone
- 13:25Speaker 4: is just going to do the work for you when
- 13:27Speaker 4: you fail. You want to know something else? Men feel
- 13:30Speaker 4: ashamed when they are given things they didn't work for. However,
- 13:34Speaker 4: women feel accomplished when they use their vagina to get
- 13:37Speaker 4: things they didn't earn. And when you do that, this
- 13:40Speaker 4: is what you get.
- 13:41Speaker 3: And with all that said.
