- 0:00Speaker 1: So I went to see three movies. Well, I saw
- 0:02Speaker 1: two of them at home and then went to the
- 0:06Speaker 1: theater to see, uh, the other one. And I want
- 0:10Speaker 1: to warn you off the one one of the ones
- 0:13Speaker 1: I saw on TV.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Uh, it's called The Last House with Wagner Mora and.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Him at Sundance years ago.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Now he's he's a really good, really good actor, and
- 0:33Speaker 1: so is Greta Lee. They were both very good in
- 0:36Speaker 1: the movie. She's she's always very good. And it's it's
- 0:39Speaker 1: kind of a science fiction movie. But it's not. It's
- 0:46Speaker 1: just not very good. It's it could have been good,
- 0:48Speaker 1: but it's one of those Is.
- 0:50Speaker 2: This the one where they're stuck in the house when
- 0:52Speaker 2: it starts raining.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Now it could have been good, and it
- 0:57Speaker 1: was good up to a point, but then it's one
- 1:00Speaker 1: of those kind of movies that has ending after ending
- 1:04Speaker 1: after ending, you know what I mean. It gets to
- 1:07Speaker 1: a you could end it there, but then they have
- 1:09Speaker 1: a more apparel and then end it there. They're just
- 1:12Speaker 1: like four different places it should have ended and didn't,
- 1:15Speaker 1: and then when it does end, it's so stupid you
- 1:19Speaker 1: can't stand it. I mean, it's just stupid. So I
- 1:21Speaker 1: wouldn't waste my time on it if I were you.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Then we watch Now, this one was an interesting movie.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Take do you know the movie Blue Moon? Yeah, with
- 1:31Speaker 1: what's his name? Boy? My brain is not working well
- 1:34Speaker 1: today Ethan Hawk and he's playing Lorenz Heart, the composer
- 1:42Speaker 1: who wrote with Oscar Hammerstein wrote a lot of famous songs,
- 1:46Speaker 1: blue Moon among them.
- 1:47Speaker 2: He was nominated for Academy.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Award for Rats and he's really good. And the movie.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So the thing with the movie is, we'll start watching it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: The character he's playing, Lawrence Hart, is a very unpleasant guy.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I mean, he's just kind of a drunk and a
- 2:06Speaker 1: uh and just full of himself and and and very
- 2:09Speaker 1: gloomy all the time and just talks a mile a
- 2:12Speaker 1: minute and that. So the first part of the movie,
- 2:14Speaker 1: you're going, can I stand to be with this guy
- 2:18Speaker 1: for the whole for the whole time? So we stopped
- 2:21Speaker 1: watching it, and then we watched that terrible movie, The
- 2:25Speaker 1: Last House, and.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Then did you pivot back and finish well?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Then we went out to the movie the next day
- 2:30Speaker 1: and Will and went to see The Rivals of Amaziah
- 2:33Speaker 1: King the movie Yeah, the guy with Matthew McConaughey and
- 2:38Speaker 1: directed by that Andrew Patterson, who we also interviewed some
- 2:42Speaker 1: time ago at slam Dance because he directed the vast
- 2:46Speaker 1: of Night and it's good. It's it's really yeah. I
- 2:52Speaker 1: and I saw lots of reviews that, you know, critics saying,
- 2:59Speaker 1: this is the great movie I've seen in a long time.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Sean Means said that as well, I wouldn't go that far.
- 3:05Speaker 1: It's it's it's good, it's very entertaining.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Well, maybe your standards are too high.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Well, I liked it better than some of the people
- 3:17Speaker 1: I saw with U and I and I was and
- 3:20Speaker 1: I was entertained by it. I mean, I kept me going.
- 3:23Speaker 1: It was a little long, but it kept me with
- 3:25Speaker 1: it the whole time. And that the young girl that
- 3:27Speaker 1: he Sean Means raved about, the Native American girl. Her
- 3:32Speaker 1: last name was looking Glass. First movie she's ever done, Yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: she's And you can see the casting. What the casting
- 3:41Speaker 1: director must have done is said, you have to find
- 3:43Speaker 1: me an actor who has the most beatific smile on
- 3:47Speaker 1: the planet. Some that when when she smiles, you can
- 3:52Speaker 1: just see beautiful simplicity. And she sure does that well.
- 3:56Speaker 1: And and Matthew McConaughey is really good, and all the
- 3:59Speaker 1: supporting players are great, and the story is entertaining, and
- 4:01Speaker 1: and uh, Jeff Kurt Russell makes a good villa. Yeah,
- 4:07Speaker 1: he's not in in a lot that he makes a
- 4:08Speaker 1: good villain. But then we went home and then we
- 4:11Speaker 1: said maybe we should watch the rest of That Blue
- 4:14Speaker 1: Moon and it and it picks up and it gets
- 4:18Speaker 1: better as it goes along. But you've got to really
- 4:20Speaker 1: be into want, you know, knowing about great old Broadway
- 4:26Speaker 1: musicals and that sort of thing, and and the characters
- 4:31Speaker 1: that are in it, you know, they're historical characters and
- 4:35Speaker 1: and it. But but Ethan Hawk is just incredible, and
- 4:37Speaker 1: you know, and you know who's really good is Andrew Scott.
- 4:42Speaker 1: He's the British actor. He was the hot priest in
- 4:45Speaker 1: Flea Bagh. That guy. Uh. He plays h Oscar Hammerstein
- 4:52Speaker 1: and he's just excellent, excellent in it. I mean not Hammerstein,
- 4:58Speaker 1: Richard Rogers, he plays.
- 5:00Speaker 2: What snacks did you have?
- 5:01Speaker 1: I didn't have any snacks.
- 5:03Speaker 2: You watched three movies and there were no snacks involved.
- 5:08Speaker 1: At home, I had some licorice, a little bit of
- 5:11Speaker 1: licorice and bourbon liquors and bourbon. That's good.
- 5:16Speaker 2: That's half the reason to watch the shows is for
- 5:19Speaker 2: the snags.
- 5:20Speaker 1: That's well, that's that's where people put on weight. You know.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I don't go to movies to put on weight. No, no, no,
- 5:26Speaker 1: I don't. I ate before and then we went out
- 5:29Speaker 1: to dinner to uh Cafe Madrid, who hadn't been there
- 5:32Speaker 1: for a long time and had had all this top
- 5:37Speaker 1: you know, tapas and very good, nice, very nice place.
- 5:42Speaker 1: And it was. But I would advise you to avoid
- 5:45Speaker 1: the last the last house if you if you're into Broadway,
- 5:50Speaker 1: watch Blue Moon if you haven't already, And I'd say
- 5:53Speaker 1: go see the Rivals of Amazia Kid as well. I
- 5:57Speaker 1: saw a Supergirl. Oh now fine, now is it as
- 6:02Speaker 1: off as people say? No, I don't know what people's
- 6:06Speaker 1: problem with this movie. Is God forbid that that a
- 6:10Speaker 1: character has some some trauma some tub Yeah. I don't
- 6:16Speaker 1: understand what the what the complaint is about this movie.
- 6:19Speaker 1: There was one complaint that I thought might be valid,
- 6:21Speaker 1: and without seeing the movie, a woman took her a
- 6:23Speaker 1: young daughter to see this movie. So you know, I
- 6:26Speaker 1: want to, I want to. I wanted to hear a
- 6:28Speaker 1: girl hero and then she was this drunken, depressed person.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And and I that's not what I wanted my daughter
- 6:34Speaker 1: to see.
- 6:35Speaker 3: It's all part of the story arc. She redeems herself
- 6:38Speaker 3: at the end and then goes back to Clark and says,
- 6:42Speaker 3: I think I'll hang out with you for a while.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you could have said to your daughter, you see, honey,
- 6:47Speaker 1: even if you do become an awful drunk, you can
- 6:50Speaker 1: you can pull through it. You can pull through it.
- 6:53Speaker 3: God forbid that a female character have trauma.
- 6:55Speaker 1: You know, she watched her entire race get destroyed. That
- 7:00Speaker 1: would doffect you. It will mess you up. I might
- 7:03Speaker 1: have a drink.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Did you carry you have snacks while you watched? I
- 7:08Speaker 2: had a caned cocktail, a can cock Yeah?
- 7:11Speaker 1: Is that a snack? Subourban's a snack?
- 7:15Speaker 3: And then we stopped midway and went up and had
- 7:19Speaker 3: blueberry pound cake.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Okay, that's what I'm going for.
- 7:23Speaker 1: No, No, that was not during the movie. Well, if
- 7:28Speaker 1: Gina sits on the couch and gobbles things down. But
- 7:33Speaker 1: I am going to go see Spider Man this week.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Finally, sometime this week. They need your money.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Carry they're barely getting by bare head.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I haven't seen The Odyssey yet. And I said, oh,
- 7:45Speaker 1: you haven't. No, And I said to my wife, well,
- 7:47Speaker 1: let's go see the Audissey. She said, you know, I
- 7:49Speaker 1: don't really have a lot of interest in that for
- 7:50Speaker 1: some reason, so maybe I'll just go buy my You
- 7:53Speaker 1: should go.
- 7:54Speaker 2: That's one you shouldn't wait till you're home to see.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Like the B movie. You could probably see it home.
- 7:59Speaker 1: But well, I'm not going to see the B movie.
- 8:07Speaker 1: The dumb suggestion. There's a scene at the end. Uh, well,
- 8:14Speaker 1: there are a couple of scenes where they let bees, uh,
- 8:18Speaker 1: Matthew McConaughey lets bees swarm on his arm and hand,
- 8:23Speaker 1: and she lets bees swarm all over her body like
- 8:26Speaker 1: on and you can tell they didn't. That's not special effects.
- 8:31Speaker 1: They did it pretty pretty amazing.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I couldn't do it. I mean, nobody's asking me.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And Gina, you didn't even have to say that, Hey, Gina,
- 8:45Speaker 1: how did you feel about? No? I don't think so
- 8:50Speaker 1: want that. I was gonna ask you. I was gonna
- 8:53Speaker 1: ask you.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Whatever they paid them wasn't enough.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Can we can we go to an apr ap ay
- 8:58Speaker 1: and let bees swarm on you? Nope? Okay, bear to bees? Yeah?
- 9:06Speaker 2: How would they they put like the queen.
- 9:09Speaker 1: No, yeah, that's that's what they So Matthew mcconniey he
- 9:12Speaker 1: finds the queen and he and he picks it out
- 9:16Speaker 1: out of the and then holds the queen very gently,
- 9:19Speaker 1: and then the bees just start to swarm and swarm. Well,
- 9:23Speaker 1: there's a really funny scene where they go to they
- 9:25Speaker 1: call him to remove bees from an elementary school. That
- 9:29Speaker 1: there's a swarm of bees in an elementary school, and
- 9:33Speaker 1: it's hilarious. Not the bees, someone go tell the bees.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'm that's the other that didn't come up. But I
- 9:42Speaker 1: love that tradition. If you have if you keep bees,
- 9:45Speaker 1: as my doctor Mike has done, and if you die,
- 9:48Speaker 1: someone has to go tell the bees that you've gone.
- 9:51Speaker 1: That's true.
- 9:53Speaker 2: You don't have to tell doctor Mike. He's standing right.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Now, No, he's here. Also another thing about bees. Yes,
- 9:58Speaker 3: your firearms are useless against them.
- 10:00Speaker 1: That's true. That's also true. Also true, even a shotgun
- 10:06Speaker 1: won't get them, not all of them. Well, but they're
- 10:10Speaker 1: determined too, that's right.
