- 0:00What's the, you know, I don't mind asking you this because now the Cardone University
- 0:14is free.
- 0:15So, you know, high level, what's the playbook for people out of a job playing field leveled?
- 0:22What do they do?
- 0:23What's what's their next step?
- 0:25Number one, number one, you just lost your job.
- 0:28If you're losing it right now, don't walk away from the job.
- 0:32If you just lost it this week, call the guy back and say, hey, I don't mind losing my
- 0:36pay, I don't want to lose the job.
- 0:39Don't lose two things.
- 0:41Don't leave.
- 0:43Just because you lost your job, don't lose your title, too.
- 0:48You know, people get all hurt, man, like, you know, if you don't want two losses, don't
- 0:55walk away from the job.
- 0:57If somebody, if a company fired me right now, I'll just tell you what we did.
- 1:01We have, like, I work for a lot of people, like a lot of people think I work for myself.
- 1:05I don't work for myself.
- 1:06I work for a lot of people.
- 1:07We have a 50, 1800 people right now that pay us every month.
- 1:11I'm like, let's call the 1800 before they fire us.
- 1:17Let's call them and work for nothing.
- 1:20So we started calling our clients, hey, what can I do?
- 1:23Before you fire me, fire my services, before you cut us off, what can we do?
- 1:31Does it need to be free?
- 1:33Do you need three months?
- 1:34Do you need to go half ease?
- 1:37Do you need, what do you need, man?
- 1:40I'll do whatever.
- 1:41Don't get rid of me and humbly plead it bag, if you have to.
- 1:47Please don't let me, okay, like, this goes back to what I was learning when I was a kid,
- 1:52man, I was 25 years old and I wrecked a car and a car dealer says, you're fired, okay?
- 1:57And I'm like, okay, and I went, before I left, I sold somebody else another car, and
- 2:04he forgave me.
- 2:06So I had a guy, yesterday, give me his resignation, he had the works for us.
- 2:10He's in one of our departments, he's like, man, I got, I'm like, what are you crazy?
- 2:16Dude, you don't quit a job right now.
- 2:19You work for nothing if you have to.
- 2:23I've been working for nothing, 80% of what I do every day is for nothing.
- 2:26That's why we did card on you.
- 2:27Card on you is free for everybody.
- 2:28I'll get, people will sign up for it later.
- 2:34Like if you were playing for the NFL right now, or in your case, in a hockey league,
- 2:38NHL, right?
- 2:39You're like, just give me a shot, just put me on the ice, man, you're not going to pay
- 2:43you to do that.
- 2:44It's going to be for free at first.
- 2:45People got to put their ego aside, work for nothing for a minute, so you don't lose
- 2:50your job and your pay.
- 2:53That's what people have the hardest time doing, it's the ego that screws everybody.
- 2:57Man, I'm not going to work for nothing, I'm worth more than that.
- 2:59You're not worth anything right now, nobody's worth anything.
- 3:02People are freaking terrified right now, okay?
- 3:05You got people at Facebook losing their jobs.
- 3:07You got people that had million dollar.
- 3:09I had a hundred and forty million dollar deal under contract.
- 3:14Be associated with that deal, loss their job.
- 3:17Get over it, okay?
- 3:19You're a rapper, a comedian.
- 3:21You are going to tell jokes for free.
- 3:23You can't even get an audience to show up in Manelay Bay because Manelay Bay shut down.
- 3:29The entire city was shut down, everybody was fired.
- 3:34Like we let 40 people go, everybody was like, Grant Cardone let 40 people go, okay, was
- 3:39that make me a bad guy?
- 3:40We have 500 and everybody.
- 3:43It's happening everywhere, Disney let 100,000 people go.
- 3:46Guess what?
- 3:47That won't be the first time or the last time they let people go in Disney.
- 3:53So people right now, number one, don't leave your job.
- 3:57Number two, if you left your job, decide you're going to go get one.
- 4:00Number three, go work, go trade your time with someone, don't go home.
- 4:08Don't go home right now unless you're going to start your own business unless you're ready
- 4:11to go start your own gig and get to cranking, do not go home.
- 4:15Go work for someone for nothing right now so you can stay connected to other people.
- 4:23That's really good.
- 4:25If you haven't already, if you're listening to this and you want to check out, it's just
- 4:29like practical advice.
- 4:30It's just, I think common sense is in common, to be quite honest.
- 4:35And the shit you're saying is like, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that you
- 4:39shouldn't, you know, quit, shouldn't walk away from jobs when the world's coming to an
- 4:42end.
- 4:43But like you said, people are doing it.
- 4:46So like, you know, put the ego aside, keep the relationships, right?
- 4:51Because you need, you need people of the way out of this whole deal.
- 4:54There's not an idea that you're going to have that's going to get you out of this
- 4:57situation.
- 4:58Yeah.
- 4:59Everybody's going to get through this.
- 5:00Nobody's getting through it alone.
- 5:02I'm not, you're not, nobody, nobody gets through this alone.
- 5:05You need people right now.
- 5:07You don't need to go home and sit in your living room.
- 5:09The biggest problem with this quarantine thing is that people are left alone with themselves.
- 5:16You know, people like, man, people hate on you, Grant.
- 5:18I ain't worried about them hating on me.
- 5:19I'm worried about me hating on me.
- 5:22I don't need their approval or disapproval.
- 5:23It doesn't change how I feel about myself.
- 5:26Nobody can love me and to love me.
- 5:28And nobody can hate on me enough that I start hating on.
- 5:32And so, so right now people need to stay connected to people.
- 5:36I was just told here that a couple of my departments here think that they're more effective
- 5:40from home.
- 5:41I'm like, I don't care if you are.
- 5:42You're not.
- 5:43We got to get back together.
- 5:48I think, I think that if you're sitting at home, you've just been laid off.
- 5:52The biggest detriment to yourself is going to be your own thoughts.
- 5:56You don't want, you don't feel like taking action.
- 5:57You're just, you're just beating yourself up like you said and all that stuff is just
- 6:01mental.
- 6:02There's no, there's no, you know, there's no pandemic that's causing you to, like
- 6:06you said, not go out, get a job, work for somebody.
- 6:10Maybe it's maybe you're, you know, for free to start or whatever it looks like, build
- 6:14those relationships, like a million things, but I see people sitting at home.
- 6:18I saw a tweet the other day, some guy, we got, we, a whole bunch of students got handed
- 6:23out, like I don't know, like 17, 50 a month for, for a stipend.
- 6:28And some guy, he was offering jobs to students and they're saying, no, I rather just sit at
- 6:31home, take the money.
- 6:33Yeah.
- 6:34And it's just like, listen, that's not the way to be.
- 6:38This is going to be over.
- 6:39There's going to be an economy after this.
- 6:40It's going to be, you know, there's going to be business after this.
- 6:42You got to figure out how to, how to ride the wave, ride out the tough times, but then
- 6:46you want to excel when, when stuff's good and things are going to change for the better
- 6:49always.
- 6:50Yeah.
- 6:51So, no, that's, that's, I really like the, the insight, man, I like seriously appreciate
- 6:56it.
- 6:57That's really, really good.
- 6:58What do you, what do you think is, I want to, I want to just ask question about COVID,
- 7:01your thoughts on just very, very high level, and then just like some like life lessons
- 7:05you learned and everything else is awesome.
- 7:07So, I appreciate it.
- 7:09Where do you think, where do you think we're going to be after coronavirus?
- 7:12How do you think it's going to change business, the way we do business, the way we interact?
- 7:16Well, you know, I mean, it's definitely going to change.
- 7:18It's going to be, it's going to be a rebirth of industries, ideas, new ways of doing things.
- 7:24People are now more, more open to, to pivoting and figuring out how to do their business
- 7:30different.
- 7:31Yeah.
- 7:32I think there's going to be tremendous opportunity on the other side of this, but it's going
- 7:35to be extremely painful while we go through this.
- 7:37I think a lot of people are underestimating just how long this goes.
- 7:41I asked people on Twitter last night, how, how many of you think this is three to six months,
- 7:46six months to nine months, nine months to a year or 12 months to 18 months?
- 7:49Like, majority of the people thought it was going to be over in six months.
- 7:52I'm like, I don't, I don't think so.
- 7:53This thing could be, yeah, this could be two or three years before this is over.
- 7:58I don't know.
- 7:59The world is definitely going to be different on the other side of this.
- 8:03And the good news is we all get through it.
- 8:06Everyone gets through this deal.
- 8:08The question is, how do you get through it?
- 8:10You know, you're going to have a bigger policy around you or smaller.
- 8:14Are you going to, are you going to be better off or worse off?
- 8:19That dude behind me, he don't go any place.
- 8:21He's always got, he don't, you don't pay him anything.
- 8:26He's still not going any place to loan.
- 8:29He's going to hang with this tribe, he's going to, he's got, he's only as strong as the,
- 8:32the group he's with.
- 8:35And so I know that everyone watching your show is going to get through this.
- 8:42They just got to decide right now on the other side of this, because we survive everything.
- 8:47Somehow, the human species, we're like, we're like roaches, man.
- 8:51It's like no matter what, we just keep coming back, right?
- 8:55The question to know is, how do you come back?
- 8:57How does your family come back?
- 8:59How does your business come back?
- 9:00Does it come back better or faster?
- 9:03It won't come back to sign.
- 9:05So that's seven billion people.
- 9:07Everybody's going to go through this transition right now.
- 9:09And either get better or they're going to get worse.
- 9:13See it, you see it already and is to sort of reiterate that point that in Wuhan, everybody's
- 9:18free to do whatever they want right now.
- 9:20Everybody's going to restaurants.
- 9:22Nobody's doing the things, acting the way that they thought was normal before.
- 9:29So there's a living breathing example of a city that was the epicenter now.
- 9:33I don't think they have any more cases, but everything's all screwed up, all business
- 9:37all screwed up.
- 9:39Restaurant owners aren't, they're not selling, no one's going anywhere.
- 9:43It's like a layer of fear that's almost just surrounding.
- 9:47So that's going to be, that's going to be a thing too, like through the aftermath.
- 9:53What's next for you?
- 9:55What do you want to do if this didn't happen?
- 9:58If this didn't happen, you know, what was in the, the game plan for, well, we would have
- 10:05just kept doing what we were doing now.
- 10:08Now, you know, this is a blessing to the skies, like we're, we're forced to pivot now.
- 10:14We're forced to, the way my business was built, we would do another big event every year.
- 10:21We would slowly add people on card on university.
- 10:24This is going to be a massive expansion for us.
- 10:27When you go, you take a $20, $30,000 product like card on university, all of a sudden you
- 10:31offer free to the public, you start promoting this free, you know, 20, I should be able
- 10:38to get 25 million people on this product that are unemployed, just in America.
- 10:43It's just how well can I tell my story to get that information out?
- 10:46Because nothing else is going to help you get a job.
- 10:48An unemployment check doesn't help you get a job.
- 10:51It just gets you through for a minute.
- 10:53So sooner or later, you have to go back and get a job.
- 10:55You don't have to do the interview, do the pitch, find an industry to pick.
- 10:59So that, that video content is going to help people, it's going to help business owners
- 11:03that want to start a business, it's going to help people that want to start over.
- 11:06We're helping people figure out how to get their money from the government, how to figure
- 11:09out whether it even works or doesn't work, how to get on the other side of this, how
- 11:12do you actually make money, fund the project, how do you cash flow a business?
- 11:17All that content in Cardone University, I think we look back out 10 months from now, we'll
- 11:23have more people three or four times more people on Cardone University.
- 11:27The real estate, my real estate portfolio, we should be able to double that here in the
- 11:32next 12 to 18 to 24 months.
- 11:37I could have never done that in that period of time without this, without this crisis,
- 11:42if you will.
- 11:44Just got lean into it, man.
- 11:46Just like when I was a young salesperson, I'll finish with this.
- 11:49When I was a young salesperson, I hated my job.
- 11:52It didn't get better until I committed to it.
- 11:54I had to commit to not liking it.
- 11:59I don't like what's going on right now, I hate this.
- 12:02I hate being quarantined, I hate not being able to expand, I hate everything about it.
- 12:07I need to lean into it and hug it out with it until I figure out how to make the most
- 12:14of it and turn a crisis truly into an expansion.
