Transcript
- 0:18Hello, and welcome to gate Leapers, the pop culture game show that shines
- 0:22a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games master, and look,
- 0:27if this is your first time listening, what I normally do here is say
- 0:30the time the villain of the franchise that this episode is about, to give
- 0:34our players a thematic sense of who they're playing against, and to generally ease
- 0:38players into a space that's familiar with them. The problem is, with Indiana
- 0:43Jones, it's always Nazis, and in the last decade, Nazis have come
- 0:47back in a very real way. So if I say I'm a Nazi,
- 0:51will you understand that I'm not like storming the capitol or banning bugs or anything
- 0:55of that shit. I'm more suggesting I'm the sort of action villain Nazi from
- 0:59now teen eighties franchises like this one. Yeah, I don't think that's better.
- 1:03Yeah, I don't think that's better. Matt, Matt Watson, Matt
- 1:07Watson. But of course we couldn't play these games without our team captains a
- 1:11pair of Fedora wearing rogues, but don't worry, they're not in cells.
- 1:17First, she wields a whip, but I'm not supposed to talk about our
- 1:19sex life on the podcast. It's Oldra Stevenson. Hello, Hello Odra,
- 1:26and he's scared of snakes. But I'm not supposed to talk about our sex
- 1:30life on this podcast. It's Jason to Win. Matt, why did you
- 1:36make why did you make me read this? Why said? Why did you
- 1:40make me read this? That's really rude. And you've really already started off
- 1:44by saying you're a Nazi at the beginning. Yea, this is rude.
- 1:48That's not doing the accent for you. No, I didn't. It doesn't
- 1:51say that. If I actually gave you a script of funny things to say,
- 1:56would you even read it? I have in the past. I don't
- 2:00know. Okay, Captain's good to good to be here with Indiana Jones.
- 2:04But where's your where's your knowledge at? With doctor Jones? I don't know
- 2:07if you're gonna keep this part for the podcast, oh yes, But for
- 2:09the patron listeners, Matt, this is I only have the hat this high
- 2:14because of the yeah, yeah, we're we're in it. Yeah, well
- 2:17hard No, you've you've got a fedora. Yeah, you're wearing a fedora.
- 2:22It's gray for the patron viewers, which in the Kingdoms of the Crystal
- 2:25Skull. Sometimes it's great, Okay your knowledge that yeah, no one,
- 2:32And then the jacket jacket it's very indeed, Yeah, very indeed, Jones,
- 2:38I was in a phase where I really wanted to dress like it was
- 2:40the forties. Oh yeah, well I know you're an Okay, Uh No,
- 2:47I really love this. I only recently watch this entire film trilogy,
- 2:53and I have not shut up about it since. So that's probably a good
- 2:57portion of why this episode exists. Maybe, yeah, I'm sucking into it.
- 3:00I'm I'm I'm excited. I'm stoked. Game. No, it's I'm
- 3:04glad you're excited. But the reason why we're doing it is the SEO from
- 3:07Dial of Destiny will be there. Everyone's watching for sure, Yeah, definitely
- 3:12definitely. What about yourself, I have a moderate knowledge. I've watched the
- 3:16original trilogy, yes, but I haven't watched much else. Um, I
- 3:23know that there's a lot of ancillary content. Sure, I've not engaged with
- 3:28any of it. Oh that's a shame, because that's all of the questions
- 3:30are about the ancillary contents. Fuck, I shouted away from the microphone.
- 3:38But I don't know if I shouted loud enough. So what was fuck?
- 3:43Okay, ancillary media, you're talking about Lego Indiana Jones the video game,
- 3:46right, oh exclusively? Yes, Well, it sounds like to play these
- 3:51games about Indiana Jones, you'll each need to team up with someone from your
- 3:54past, or a trite stereotype, or your dad. So Jason, who
- 4:00is your teammates today? Definitely my dad of those three. He's a combook
- 4:03artist, a podcaster and host of Exploration the podcast. It's John Williams.
- 4:09Not not that one, Hello this one. Hello John. Hello. Yeah,
- 4:13I abandoned you as a child. You might be you might be my
- 4:17dad. Hello John, Welcome back to the podcast. It's so good to
- 4:23have you back. Thank you so much for having me. I'm super stoked.
- 4:26I love me some Indiana Jones and um yeah ready for it? Yeah?
- 4:30So what what's your relationship with Indiana Jones as like as a franchise,
- 4:35as a fandom. It's it is a it is a lifelong passion. It's
- 4:41not an obsession, but I mean, it's it's up there. You know.
- 4:45I've I've I've been watching those movies since I was a little kid,
- 4:46even though my mom wouldn't let us have Temple of Doom in the house,
- 4:50you know, Mormon household heart, ripping out buggy cults, you know it.
- 4:55It didn't agree with her, but but Punch and Nazis was okay.
- 4:59Yeah, hell yeah, Mom. I've loved the just straight up serial adventure
- 5:05stylings of it, just my entire life. It's it's a huge inspiration to
- 5:10me when I'm when I'm creating or when we're creating comic books together, and
- 5:14I've I've dressed up as Indiana Jones. I don't know how many times for
- 5:17Halloweens. So it's it's it is part of my being. I love Indiana
- 5:21Jones. Yeah, I'm feeling good about that. Well, not like Superman,
- 5:27but you know, when you wear it for Halloween is a traditional brown
- 5:31fedora doing it correctly, unlike Jason here. Yeah, I could never quite
- 5:36get the jacket right. But become a non traditional Indiana Jones. I like
- 5:41to think if if Short Round ever became Indie, that would yeah. Oh
- 5:45and I and I hope, I hope. I'm not stepping across any lines
- 5:48or anything, Jason. But in the first issue of Space Odditys, we
- 5:51do say hold onto your potatoes and do you guys and I think time for
- 5:57love? Yeah, oh, hold on to you. But you hadn't seen
- 6:00India at that point, right, that's true India at that point, so
- 6:03fat play. Yeah Templed, Yeah, I didn't watch Templed dude by that,
- 6:06Yeah for sure. So I'm going to reread that. Great reason to
- 6:11read space. Audit ya get the plug in early. Absolutely, okay,
- 6:16fantastic team. Now let's move on over to Audra. Who is joining you?
- 6:21Well, you know, incredible coincidence. Jason, my teammate, is
- 6:26also a comic book writer, a podcaster and host of Gee Exploration the podcast.
- 6:30It's Ben Robinson. How about I really need to work on our on
- 6:33our diversity an inclusion over here very down the same line. Ben's got better
- 6:40hair, fantastic mustache. At the moment that I saw Elio briefly came in
- 6:47and were like, oh, I've just been chopping up mates, I was
- 6:50like, well, that's a that's a butcher, right, that that's a
- 6:51Victorian. Yeah. The blood on the apron also sold it for me.
- 6:57Yes, yes, I soe. Ben. Welcome back to the podcast.
- 7:00Always get to have you on the show. Thanks for having me I'm always
- 7:02willing to come back. I haven't burned a bridge. It's a good day.
- 7:06Oh yes, just trying to remember if they know they don't burn the
- 7:10bridge in template Doom, so I can't make a reference that. I'm going
- 7:12to move on. Ben. What's your relationship with the Indiana Jones franchise?
- 7:16I mean similar to John like I grew up with Indiana Jones like it was
- 7:19just a one of the big adventure movies of my childhood, so I've loved
- 7:25it before. Ever, I'm not as much of a fanatic as John is,
- 7:29so he's probably got a bit of an advantage on me there. But
- 7:34he also recently, much like Jason, rewatched the entire trilogy, right,
- 7:40I did not talking about it. Yeah, I was going to watch the
- 7:45just the fourth one before the fifth one because I didn't want to compare the
- 7:47new one to it to all the classics. I did end up watching Raiders
- 7:53with Angelina because she wanted to, but I was waiting until after seeing Dial
- 7:57and I still haven't seen Dial, so bitching good because I haven't. I
- 8:01haven't seen any of them since we did our episode like four years ago.
- 8:05So episode two Indiana Jones, this episode one Superman. No, it was
- 8:11okay for that episode? Is us as Indian short round? Nice? Who's
- 8:18short round? I think it's me? Yeah, it was just surprising,
- 8:26fantastic stuff. Oh, I'm sure the teams are somewhat balanced. It's it's
- 8:30I think it's gonna be a fun one today. The movie trilogies or series
- 8:33usually are, and I think we've that's all of us. Haven't seen Dial
- 8:35of Destiny? Is that good? Good? Correct? I've got nothing on
- 8:39Dial of Destiny? Incredible? Thank you. Okay, teams, you've arrived
- 8:43in the jungles of Peru to recover a golden idol, and I'm absolutely certain
- 8:48you can trust your companion. So I'd like each pair to come up with
- 8:52an Indie themed team name. Please let's start with Jason and John or Johnson.
- 8:56Oh, kind of boring, Actually, don't go hold on Indiana Johnson.
- 9:03Yeah. Oh, I'm so sorry. That's better than any team name
- 9:07I have for us. Speaking of which, John, I'm sure you have
- 9:11some great names. I as classically on the show, have some terrible ones
- 9:16I thought of on the car right before I got here. Yeah, so
- 9:20I've got the Gimmalian fezzes. Uh, because that's just crazy. The Gimille's
- 9:28just in these Yeah, yeah, it's just salah, Yeah, that's crazy.
- 9:31I've got uh, Alfred Molina's career of spiders foreshadowed with that is the
- 9:39name. That is a long team name. It is it's you know,
- 9:45it's listen, don't knock it. Uh. And then I've got this is
- 9:48this one's my favorite. Okay, I got the Oki Doki potatoes, the
- 9:52Oki Doki potato. Yeah, okay, pretty Have you got any ideas,
- 9:56John, I've got a couple of There's the the THUGGI of course. Okay,
- 10:01yes, there's the Club Obi WANs Oh that's right from what was it?
- 10:09If there was a way to shorten it? The the X never marks
- 10:13the spots. Okay, that is good, not X spots or the I
- 10:18think there's one more. I mean, that's that's slightly shorter than Jason's.
- 10:24Yeah, the I hate snakes. I hate snakes. Oh that's good,
- 10:28I hate snakes or the snakes. It belongs in a museums. All of
- 10:35these quotes and references are so long on though they don't make the snappy team
- 10:39names not at all, just cover the longest one. How how long can
- 10:43we make one. You know, it's not it's not about the years,
- 10:46it's about the mileage babies. Why didn't Indie say something snappy? You know?
- 10:50Why do you have like a snappy one liner instead? He has to
- 10:54say these full sentences. Don't call me junior? Oh, don't call me
- 10:58junior? Yeah, okay, I'm need to find the lines from you as
- 11:01a team. Take it, Jason, which one? Which one? It's
- 11:09such a hard such a hard choice. What's the longest I had? I
- 11:13had a snappy one too, and it just went right out of my head.
- 11:16I got some Which one do you want to make? Matt say?
- 11:20Over and over? That's way. Which one is the best for the lightning
- 11:22rounds? Right? Like? Like if we're, if we're, I've already
- 11:28forgotten all the ones you just said. That's the mark of a good name.
- 11:33Yeah. The one that could that shouts out to me is the club
- 11:37Obi WANs. I'll be honest, okay, and then we need to go
- 11:39quick. We can just say Obi wan Yeah. I think yeah, saying
- 11:43Obi one is gonna be nice and snappy for us, the club Obi Ones.
- 11:46Yeah, I like it. I like that. It's like a different
- 11:50Fandoms reference. For the team name for this, I do kind of like
- 11:54that. Yeah, Like I know it's them referencing their own one. Because
- 11:58if you let us me and John is going to sit here and be like
- 12:01she snores when she sleeps. That's our team name. Indiana Jones enters.
- 12:13There are people at the bar, so we have the club obi Ones.
- 12:18But let's find out who they'll be facing. Ben Audra Boudra. I tried
- 12:24my hardest. I have a couple a couple of them, the bad dates
- 12:28and no ticket that I couldn't remember. Damn well done. That just a
- 12:41sp I mean, I'm a big fan of that. Yeah, but I
- 12:46did. I did have an idea that it's bad but Indiana something that rhymes
- 12:52with Jones. So I brought up rhyme zone um, Indiana top ones,
- 12:56Indiana bones. Yeah, that's probably a poor and parody. Oh god,
- 13:01it probably is. It has to be. If it's not on, let's
- 13:05make it. Let's yep. Yeah, next projects for this gang um at
- 13:11the end of a long lecture, Indiana Drones when he's rocking out with music
- 13:18that is not around at his time, Indiana ramones Um. Have you got
- 13:24Indiana pones like Pones? Your opponent kind of thing like the on this online
- 13:30speak. No, this one didn't have it. It did have postpones,
- 13:33and that's when your final exam is a little bit later out. I don't
- 13:35know, be raiding something. Do you have any ideas? Ben? Oh
- 13:39yeah, I thought of three. Uh, but the first one that came
- 13:43to mind was the fertility idols. Oh, yes, good. The second
- 13:50one was it had to be snakes it. Then I think that like the
- 13:56third one most the uh the Kalima shucked it shucky days. Don't make me
- 14:01do it. I mean, I'm also going to remind you of no ticket,
- 14:07just get under the skin of your opponent. The thing I like about
- 14:13Kelly, the Kelly Mass shooky Days, it's because we're going to we're going
- 14:16to rip the hearts out of our opponents. Okay, okay, then you're
- 14:22really ripping Matt's hard. I can shollen it to the Kelly Mas if you're
- 14:24happy to go with it, So it's fine by me. I'm also down
- 14:30to spite John. It's just I just got that. Yeah. Yeah,
- 14:37it's bad dates, but it also is like self depreciating as though we were
- 14:41bad dates. Yeah, it's it's good. Yeah, like that was a
- 14:43bad date for Willie Scott, one long bad date. The burden of decision
- 14:48upon me already in this episode, No wrong answers at this stage of the
- 14:52game. Yeah, are there any points on this? It's not not yet.
- 14:56It's maybe season four to Kellie Mass, let's go with that one.
- 15:03So what was the full title? Ben Kelli Mass SHOOKTI Day? Is that
- 15:05what they say? Like, is that like the trance phrase or whatever?
- 15:09That's what the guy doing the heart ripping says. Okay, so we've got
- 15:18the club Obi Ones versus the Kellie Mass Shookdi Days. I guess yeah,
- 15:24you said, so you're the boss, all right, And if you're listening
- 15:28to this and thinking, well, I'm along for the ride, I guess.
- 15:31But I don't know my Indiana Jones from my Quincy Jones. Don't worry
- 15:35his ultra with a little segment we like to call the dated references. We're
- 15:41doing a nineteen eighties franchise. I was like, who else is called Jones?
- 15:43I don't know Quincy. There's not many people with the last named Jones.
- 15:48Give him crazy. It was Tom Jones. That's also like that same
- 15:52era here and Thriller we're the same year, so I think they were both
- 15:56having a big year. Then Okay, yeah, there we go, So
- 16:00don't worry his soldier with a little segment we like to call passing knowledge.
- 16:04Indiana Jones is a media franchise that follows the adventures of a whip wielding archaeologist
- 16:11who is also coincidentally known as Indiana Jones, Jones Stuck, Jones, Boy
- 16:21Copies. The series consists of five films, a prequel TV series, numerous
- 16:26video games, comics, and tie in novels. And I'm certain we've all
- 16:30done our research and consumed more than just the nineteen eighties original trilogy. Yes,
- 16:34ye, Americans, you're the same. These are addressing for the occasions.
- 16:40I J. I call him I J now. I J was created
- 16:44by George Lucas, who came up with the idea when he got bored making
- 16:48a Star War. Lucas pitched the idea to Steven Spielberg, and the rest
- 16:57is history, which belonged in a museum. Yes, su time, I've
- 17:03had to reclaim my property from you that belongs I J. I'm sticking to
- 17:11it. I Jay is played by the legendary Harrison Ford. So there are
- 17:15a lot of nap bricks during the filming of this final adventure, the Dial
- 17:19of Destiny. Thank you, Ordre. I hope that caught everyone up on
- 17:23this franchise. And if not, I mean, come on, who hasn't
- 17:26seen at least one Indiana Jones film? Just just just babies? I reckon.
- 17:30What baby shouldn't be listening to this podcast is flus. You know that's
- 17:34how I watched it. Yeah, everyone's seen an Indiana Jones see it?
- 17:38Come on? Okay, Just before we get to today's games, I've asked
- 17:44each player to bring in a muse, something that inspires them or something they
- 17:48love from this particular fandom. Indiana Jones is inspiring to me because he was
- 17:52the inspiration for Uncharted Nathan Drake, the Millennials. Indiana Jones he's just like
- 17:57Indie, except he also talks about his feelings and plays crash bandicoots. Jason,
- 18:04We'll start with you, what's inspiring you from the world of Indie?
- 18:07So I am new to this world. I did not watch it as a
- 18:11kid. But what I'm bringing what inspires me about this world is over this
- 18:15summer, I had my brother who people know is twelve, and my cousin
- 18:22who's of a similar age, and we just kind of marathon the movie and
- 18:25it was just a very nice time of just like like, I don't know
- 18:30people know this about me, Like I'm kind of like a young dad.
- 18:32It's kind of weird. Yeah. I get a lot of joy out of
- 18:34children's happiness and stuff like that, Yeah, despite not having any children on
- 18:38my own that I know of, And it was just very gratifying to share
- 18:42this memory in the summer with these boys, just like watching a very fucking
- 18:49fun and great movie series. Like we watched Transformers Rise to the Piece in
- 18:55the same week, and that's like a fine movie. But these movies were
- 18:57just fucking fun, yes, and enjoyable in every second. And I could
- 19:02see just them like huddled up against a popcorn bucket, and I feel like
- 19:06that's a similar origin to Ben and John. Just yeah, like different generations
- 19:11pick upon exactly Jones just now. And so that's very cool to be able
- 19:15to bring that. So it's a new generations. It fat your muse is
- 19:18the lights in a child's eyes? Why do you like? Get stop funny?
- 19:22It's it's genuine. It's good, but it's a genuine thing. Yeah,
- 19:29Yeah, good mus good good experience. Welcome to the Indiana Jones Club.
- 19:33Thank you. Membership is five dollars a month. Okay, let's move
- 19:38on over to your teammate John. What's inspiring you from Indiana Jones. All
- 19:44right, I'm I'm truly sorry guys that I have to retread a little bit
- 19:48because in similar to the Superman episode, like this is something that's been a
- 19:52part of me for my entire life. So it's hard to find one solid
- 19:57thing that just really get it's me going about about the the Indiana Jones franchise.
- 20:03So just like the Superman and same composer himself, it's the music,
- 20:08Like I I throw on I throw on an Indiana Jones soundtrack. You hear
- 20:12the little bump them like like you're you're ready, You're in, You're you're
- 20:18ready to You're you're galloping on a horse. You're gonna go punch a Nazi.
- 20:22You know, Um, yeah, I know, I know. Ben
- 20:23has trouble distinguishing like Superman and Star Wars, I do have a little trouble
- 20:27sometimes with with Marion's theme and Leah's theme, you know, with like the
- 20:32withing strings and stuff. But these Indiana Jones soundtracks are so well crafted to
- 20:38each of their their own adventures, you know, like like the first one
- 20:41is just one hundred percent throwback serial adventure, you know, it's it's action
- 20:47hero stuff. In the second, in Temple of Doom, you get you
- 20:51get some really like mystical sounding stuff, you know, and you're dealing with
- 20:53cults. And then in in Last Crusade, you're going right back on to
- 20:59you know, like an actual crusade, you know, like an actual yeah,
- 21:03march towards something great and a ride off into the sunset. You know,
- 21:07like these these soundtracks are so good. Yeah, those are reviews.
- 21:11Those inspire me. Yeah, yeah, fantastic mus Once again, even if
- 21:15you are retreading the soundtrack Footsteps, it's yeah, it's just the music is
- 21:19brilliant. We also rewatch these films in the past couple of weeks, and
- 21:23yeah, the music is spectacular. Great mus always good to be inspired by
- 21:29music. Let's move on over to the Calli Mas. I'm just gonna say
- 21:33that, I'm just gonna keep it easy. Let's move to the Calli Mars,
- 21:36and we'll start with Ben. What's inspiring you from Indiana Jones. Mine's
- 21:40a bit more grim. But my, okay, my, I think what's
- 21:45inspiring me about Indiana Jones in this moment is the growing inevitability that dial of
- 21:55destinies is just going to fail. So okay, yeah, and I'm into
- 22:00it. I'm here for it. Like I'm like, I love me some
- 22:03Indiana Jones and it would have been great if there was like some really great
- 22:07movies made. But I'm also really okay with it. Just get it,
- 22:11get it, getting retired and not having to to dig up the grave here,
- 22:15Like it's like the ill think I thought of an analogy. It's like
- 22:17the Guttenberg printing Press, Like it was amazing revolutionary it you know, inspired
- 22:23a lot of things and produced a lot of things, but it's just not
- 22:26practical anymore, and no one really knows how to use it. So it
- 22:30you know, this podcast is still released on printing press. I will have
- 22:37you know. So you know Lucas LucasArts your local page boy, Um yeah,
- 22:45Lucas Arts belongs in a museum. It Like it's fine, They're done
- 22:48within them really creative or good or interesting, And I'm okay with that,
- 22:51Like it doesn't diminish the greatness of Indiana Jones to stop dragging this guy out
- 22:56of his uh you know, would be a retirement and parading him out like
- 23:02he's an action star. Still yeah, no, you guys can't free John
- 23:07Is is breathing down the rage. Let's say, I am one of the
- 23:12few people here who've watched Kingdom of the Chrystal Skull recently. Sure, yea
- 23:17many many bad things about that movie. But Harrison Ford at the age of
- 23:21sixty looks really fucking good. Sure this is about this is about dial of
- 23:25Destiny, This is about Dialo Destiny. But for eighty I bet you for
- 23:30eighty Yes, I mean yeah, Harrison Ford, I'm sure is not the
- 23:34weak point of the film. Like I'm yeah, Yeah, he's gonna come
- 23:38in and he's gonna do a good job doing his thing. Um, but
- 23:42you know, one man does not a good film make. That's true.
- 23:45That's true. Yep, that's good. I mean, it's it's grim,
- 23:48it's but it's good to be people. You know, people come on this
- 23:51podcast. They get inspired by pass if things, be inspired by the light
- 23:55in a child's eyes, by music, things like that. But sometimes it's
- 23:57just good to you know, really bring bring everything down and be like yeah,
- 24:00Actually, something's a shit, Ben Ben Ben really knew how to shake
- 24:07me to my core. That was some intimidation tactics right there. I don't
- 24:11even I don't even know if I can go on. Oh my god,
- 24:14good luck to a good game today. Finally, oldro, what is inspiring
- 24:21you from Indiana Jones? I am inspired by that girl in Indiana Jones class
- 24:26who writes I love you on her eyelids. Yes to blink at Indiana Jones.
- 24:33I love that. I think it's the funniest thing. I think it's
- 24:37the most hilarious thing, so much so that I even tried to do it.
- 24:42I wrote fuck you on my eyelids. I did it like an hour
- 24:47ago, and it is already. That was like a story like Madrea is
- 24:52saying, great school. It's already today an hour recording in order to be
- 24:57an intimidation tacting gets to you, guys, it already melted off. So
- 25:02this this woman one, she had forethought to like it before class two.
- 25:07She had the creativity to come up with this idea. Three, She had
- 25:10the dexterity with which to craft the letters like symmetrically and looking like letters while
- 25:17looking in a mirror. Mine did not look that good. Three. She
- 25:19has an incredible makeup primer through the entire forty five minute lecture What if it
- 25:25was a double What if it was an hour and a half lecture by Indiana
- 25:30Jones? And it stayed put? She is a renaissance woman. Yeah,
- 25:33the star of the series. Would you say, Yeah, I just want
- 25:37you to We're gonna put this in video editing and posts. Just blink a
- 25:40couple of times, slowly, like you're a cat into the into the camera.
- 25:44Okay, yeah, yeah, yea. It will just be smudges on
- 25:47my eyelid. I'm gonna I'm just I'm gonna put it in in post.
- 25:51Oh you're gonna do that in post, are you? Yeah? We're gonna
- 25:59keep that in for the y right with the lights, with the lights,
- 26:03I don't even know if you can see it in that. That's going to
- 26:07be a clip. It's good to be inspired by minor characters. I always
- 26:10think that's fun. It is a good iconic moment within the film. They
- 26:12brought it back for Dial of Destiny. She she has still game question mark
- 26:17written. Yeah. She has to like pull them down a little bit,
- 26:22like get her eyebrows up so that they don't wrinkle. She goods stuff.
- 26:29I think I think everyone's suitably inspired. I think it's time for some time
- 26:32some games. Yeah, let's great themes. Let's climb aboard that plane and
- 26:37hope there's not a snake in the cockpits as we fly into a round one.
- 26:48Round one is our trivia round, and it's called Temple of the Fun,
- 26:52like the Temple of the Sun from the Last Crusade. Our dynamic duos
- 26:56will take turns making their way through a series of questions and challenges to reach
- 27:02the Holy Grail aka five points. Four challenges per team. Complete each one
- 27:07to earn a point. Complete all four without getting impaled or crushed or turned
- 27:11into old bones, and you'll get the Holy Grail the bonus fifth point.
- 27:17Now, there's going to be a lot of deciding who goes first and second
- 27:19in this series. So to help me, I have a shiny dabloon very
- 27:23adventurer THEMS. Okay, it's a quarter, so we're going to do that
- 27:27now to find out who will be facing the trial. So John heads or
- 27:32Tails heads. It is tails perfect poorly so the Kelly Mars. Then,
- 27:42would you like to go first or second? First? I guess I mean
- 27:47I y yeah, yeah, Okay, you're gonna go first. Sure,
- 27:52So you are answering the temple of the Sun. So we begin the trials
- 27:56with a ceiling that's crushing down upon you. I oh, that's not actually
- 28:00from that film, but I couldn't make anything work with circular saws coming out
- 28:03of the ground. So as the as the ceiling is crushing down upon you,
- 28:08you will need to do the following. If as a team, you
- 28:11can name seven countries featured in the Indiana Jones movies in the next thirty seconds,
- 28:18you will score a point and both of you can just yell out things.
- 28:22I'll count them all. Cool, three, two, one, go
- 28:26Nepal, Turkey, Um of America, United States, Yeah yeah, Brazil,
- 28:37um, Germany, Berlin, ye, Germany in the country, yes,
- 28:41yes, seconds. Did they go to Morocco, Tanzania? Yep,
- 28:48uh no, you're five seconds? One more is right? Oh no,
- 28:56not England. I'm sorry, you are crushed. There is no point you
- 28:59got. You got six. I think the big ones you were missing were
- 29:03a temple of doom like China and India, India, Italy, oh totally
- 29:10this also Italy, yes, Austria as well, Syria, you could have
- 29:14had Greece in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I'm so sorry. Six very
- 29:19close though, no point there. This isn't Indiana Jones actual. So you
- 29:25didn't die. You'll move on to your next trial. And you see a
- 29:29series of letters on the floor in front of you. Were definitely firmly in
- 29:33the territory of the Last Crusade now, and you will need to spell the
- 29:37correct answer back and forth between you as a pair. Now. The main
- 29:42villain in Raiders of the Lost Arc is a French archaeologist named Renee Block.
- 29:48Going one letter at a time back and forth. You must spell his name
- 29:51to pass the trial. Who would like to start? I can? Are
- 29:56you game? I mean it's easy. I'm really easy for this. I'm
- 29:59real offident on the first letter. Yeah, do you want to kick it
- 30:04off? Then? Yeah? Sure be Oh and you've already failed. I'm
- 30:14so sorry you It's E. Bellock. Yeah. Oh. I thought the
- 30:21joke was that it's going to be spelled like Bollock joke in the script.
- 30:26I thought that was the joke the whole time, isn't his name was Bollock,
- 30:30but he insisted everybody called it was slightly different from I thought it was
- 30:36a Frankenstein from Young Frankenstein. Is what was happening? I'm so sorry.
- 30:41If only they'd punched up that script with more jokes. Okay, next step,
- 30:48next trial, no points so far. It is time to take your
- 30:51leap of faith. I'm going to ask a question with a two word answer.
- 30:55So someone needs to nominate themselves to be the person who was going to
- 30:57say the first word, and then then their partner will hopefully be able to
- 31:02complete the answer by saying the second word. So who is going to say
- 31:07the first word? Well, it didn't work out for me to go well
- 31:08to go first last time, so I'll go second this time. Okay,
- 31:14Okay, Audrey, you're going first. Okay, here's the question. In
- 31:18the Temple of Doom. What song is sung by Willie at the very start
- 31:22of the film, anything goes Yes. That's the points. I know that
- 31:33you took your leap of faith and it worked out. You get a shiny
- 31:36point, and finally we have arrived at your multiple choice question. Choose wisely
- 31:41and the point will be yours. Choose poorly and you'll crumble to dust.
- 31:45I have that power. Now here's the question. You can work as a
- 31:49team for this one. Indiana Jones is named after the dog. But what
- 31:53breed of dog is Indiana? Is it a a husky, a bloodhound,
- 32:00C a German Shepherd or D A Laborator retriever? Uh? Um. All
- 32:07I can think about is the fact that they live in a very hot climate
- 32:10and that would kill a husky. Well, I mean this was George Lucas's
- 32:15actual dog. Oh, I thought it was how we were referencing the dog
- 32:20that he was named after in the actual k Fame. Yeah, I don't
- 32:23think that. Oh, it's both. Yes, that dog was not one
- 32:27of any of those breeds. When I watched the movie, I might not
- 32:31be looking like interesting. My brain originally went to Golden retriever, but I
- 32:36don't know why because I don't know this answer. Let's go with your instinct,
- 32:39because maybe it's like buried in a like a recess of something that I'm
- 32:45not bringing anything laborator retriever. He sounded disappointed when you hell, but he's
- 32:52not given me one, I know he So John did go? Do you
- 32:58agree with me that it might not be a dog in the movie? Um?
- 33:02Is that a movie? A different pot? I don't really. I
- 33:05don't really even remember a dog in the movie. Okay, okay, there's
- 33:08one. Yeah, there's one in the beginning of Last Crusade to remember.
- 33:15I don't think that spoil as anything because it's not sure. Yes, let's
- 33:19go with Labrador retriever because I can't remember. Yeah, a Fantasia is you
- 33:24know, I got nothing in my head, can't you're going with Labrador retriever.
- 33:30Yeah, you have chosen poorly. It's John. Would you like to
- 33:35reveal what it is? I believe it's a husky. It is a husky.
- 33:38That's cruel, you know, I would have guessed that because I thought
- 33:42it was for some reason, an Australian shepherd or what is it shepherd?
- 33:45Australian Geman is what I had on the list of Australian shepherds. Look more
- 33:51like Lassie than huskies. Yeah, picking I think that. I think that's
- 33:54what I was thinking. Yes, that's kind of like a husky too,
- 33:57because yeah, haired dogs. Yeah, yeah, that's my racist eye.
- 34:02That dog was also his inspiration for Chewy. Oh you must Chewy. To
- 34:08say that doesn't confute that they got a cute little close eyes. I'm not
- 34:16with dogs but I don't Husky. He's the one that got inspired. Don't
- 34:22blame me. Okay, that's true, that's fair. All right. Well,
- 34:25that that new trivia format went well one point out of five brutal.
- 34:31I'm sorry if it was confusing to change up the format of questions. We
- 34:36just don't. That's all right. Okay, Time for the club obi WANs
- 34:43to face their trial, and you will also have to name seven things in
- 34:46thirty seconds in order to avoid being crushed by the ceiling. And your category
- 34:52is animals that appear in the Indiana Jones films. Australian shepherds, rats,
- 34:59snakes, three rafts, rhino, lion, We're going shit lion. Hey,
- 35:05just go, just go, keep going, keep going, um,
- 35:07aligators, crocodiles, spiders. You've just hit it. That's seven. That's
- 35:13seven good stuff. You named most of them. It's like prairie dog,
- 35:17scorpion, all right, all right, mule seemed yes, very much cgi
- 35:25NSI does that really count as animal appearing in the movie Eating the Bad Dates?
- 35:31Oh yeah, go monkey swinging with shilaboff different monkey. Just monkey counts
- 35:38as one. You've got seven? You got I mean, you got twelve
- 35:40by the end of chatting about it kind of got excited. Good stuff.
- 35:45You didn't get crushed. You were still on track for the one bonus point
- 35:47at the end of it all. So now it's time to spell something on
- 35:51the ground lest you fall to your death. The secondary villain in the last
- 35:54Crusade is the blonde Nazi Elsa Schneider, going one letter at a time back
- 36:00and forth. You must spell her name to pass the trial, and you're
- 36:04also supposed to start with her first name. And like the previous team,
- 36:10I thought that I didn't. I was like, I don't know Rene spells
- 36:15a. I know, Yeah, I didn't even lock. Okay, so
- 36:23Elsa Schneider, whoever would like to start. Hell, I'm gonna go.
- 36:29I'm gonna go phonetic on your Sierra. I'll like it. Yeah, well,
- 36:34hey Schneider also Sierra s s is in Sierra. See yeah, h
- 36:44is an hotel. Okay, this is the tricky one. Yes, oh
- 36:50fuck, I wasn't going there. Fuck God, I'm gonna mess it up.
- 36:52He is an echo, Yes, I d is in delta, yes
- 36:57e yes O yeah, yes you made it a cross, thank you,
- 37:00thank you, ours and bellock. Okay, now it is time for your
- 37:07leap of faith. This is Gates leapers after all? Two world answer.
- 37:10Who is going to say the first word? I don't want to. I
- 37:14don't want to, John, I'm so scared. I'll take it. Okay.
- 37:19What is the name of Indiana's British colleague and occasional companion from college?
- 37:24Fuck Marcus, Pat Marcus. Oh shit, that's the one I knew too,
- 37:30God damn it. Oh his last name. This guy is a genius.
- 37:36He can go to twelve different countries in every language. He has friends
- 37:39all over the world, and his name an He's found the grail already.
- 37:49Would you like to I'm gonna have to push you for announced. It starts
- 37:51with, doesn't it? Do you want to take a guess? Oh?
- 37:52God, it's not Broadway. Just it's not Broadway. I'm sorry, what
- 37:57is it? It's brody start of a be fun I'm sorry. No point
- 38:02there, I knew Marcus. But you can still go one more point.
- 38:06Yeah, that was a valiant That was a valiant track. Thank you,
- 38:08Thank you? Is cup Choose in time now? Multiple choice? Choose wisely.
- 38:14According to the Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, which of these historic events
- 38:20did young Indiana not participate in Chilled Vampires. He did. He did do
- 38:24that. One point, which no, which of these did he not participate
- 38:29in? A The Battle of the Somme b, the Voyage of the Titanic,
- 38:35see the first public feminist meeting by the Pankhurst. There's no way.
- 38:38There's no way, d or d Pablo Picasso's first exhibition, I now would
- 38:45have been in the future. Wait no, I but other than that,
- 38:50I have no clue. Indiana Jones is a lot of things that we love.
- 38:57He is not. I could see that being a cute idea for an
- 39:00episode, though, like what what yeah, what was the what was the
- 39:04option about the Titanic? He like, fucks half of the women's movement.
- 39:07No, that wasn't the option about the Titanic. Throw all the women of
- 39:15the Titanic. He was a regular Leo DiCaprio. Um No, it was
- 39:19the Voyage of the Titanic, the Battle of the sum It was just,
- 39:22yeah, there was an episode with it. I could see because it was
- 39:25in the nineties. Thing, I could see that idea. Mm hmmm.
- 39:30So what was that like nineteen well or something. M I don't I could
- 39:37see what he's like too, soon. Do you want to go with Titanic.
- 39:39It's like, let's go with it, let's go with the Titanic with
- 39:45he's saying he didn't participate in the voyage of the Titanic. It's too soon,
- 39:50it's too soon. I don't know if that was the reason, but
- 39:51it's correct. Young Indiana Jones doesn't participate in Matt has has written this down
- 39:57for me in case I I answer a question, and that was really close
- 40:00to failing my pincher's apparel. I got saved by my pinchers apparel. That's
- 40:05data from goonies and that you're really edging me on onto a path. I'm
- 40:12not saying any notes. That's not even one of his best known quotes,
- 40:16so it's just applicable to this situation. And I think that you're pigeonholing me.
- 40:21Here, what if I give you some of those everything everywhere lines you
- 40:25predicted the end of I was gonna say it, I've roused your rule of
- 40:31three. I'm so sorry. Okay, Well, however that trivia went.
- 40:36That is the end of the round. Let's ask short Round to take violent
- 40:39revenge on his racist screenwriters before making them calculate our scores. Turn the tables
- 40:45on that one o' convenient for scores. Ah, the Klimas are on one
- 40:52points. The club Obi WANs are in the lead with three points. This
- 40:55is this is doable for us. Yeah, I felt a lot of gilt,
- 41:00but you know we can bring this back. Let's see if that happens
- 41:04in round two. But first, enjoy these commercials for blast proof fridges.
- 41:08Blast Proof fridges your way of surviving Putin's bombs. They just don't make fridges
- 41:15like they used to, Matt. Round two is our improv round, and
- 41:23it's called fan Court. It's the game where we ask our teams to become
- 41:28pop culture defense lawyers for some controversial fan opinions. Points will be awarded for
- 41:32an ardent defense of the statements, fandom knowledge, and for being silly little
- 41:37chuckle heads. Each player will be given around a minute to make their personal
- 41:43case, and then I'll combine those answers together using points science to just make
- 41:47one score for the team. Okay, Lawyers, your first case concerns which
- 41:52Indiana Jones film is the best of the bunch, and I will once again
- 41:55flip the coins. So ben heads or tails tales, it is heads,
- 42:05You work for either team all comes back around. So, Club Obi Wanes,
- 42:10would you like to defend the statements that The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
- 42:15is the best Indiana Jones film ever made or the Temple of Doom is the
- 42:19best Indiana Jones film ever made. I mean, I think I know what
- 42:22we gotta do, right, Yeah, yeah, it's gotta be Temple from
- 42:25my people, Yeah, I thought you're gonna swove me. Then I was
- 42:29hoping. Okay, okay, So who would like to go first? Jason
- 42:36or John? You know, I can do a nice yell and then you
- 42:42can finish with anop that sounds great. Okay, Okay, Jason, your
- 42:45minute starts now. So one thing that people have against Temple of Doom that's
- 42:51incredibly racist, and that the female character in that movie is maybe the worst
- 42:55of the three. Now, what people don't often mention about Temple of Doom
- 43:00is that it is non stop action. It is classic Indiana Jones set pieces,
- 43:02which is really fantastic. But the most important part of Temple of Doom
- 43:07is if we are looking at the future of this as a franchise, right,
- 43:10which anevitably be, will happen whether we want it or not to Ben's
- 43:15Gloom and Doom perspective. Listenherson Ford's eighty. Someone's got to inherit the hat
- 43:20and we know it's not Shyla buff and everyone, Indiana Jones, you,
- 43:23me, your mom, we know it in our hearts. We know it
- 43:27in our hearts. It's Short Round, baby. He's Indiana Jones's son.
- 43:30And if he comes back, he quants back. I don't know if he's
- 43:34in dial destiny, but he's back. And if he has a legacy to
- 43:38fill ten seconds, that really adds on to Temple of Doom's legacy for the
- 43:44Indiana Jones franchise as something where that started, all those set pieces began.
- 43:47Okay, that's your time. Your argument is depends on how they treat the
- 43:53franchise in the future. Yeah, for now. So John says some stuff,
- 43:57Okay, good stuff. Okay, John, it is yo minutes.
- 44:00Take it away, all right. Like Jason said, this is wall to
- 44:02wall action. But what's one thing that Spielberg throws in just as much as
- 44:07action does it just as well heart family, father and son dynamics. Like
- 44:12Jason said, Short Round is Indie's son. He's he's taken him under his
- 44:16wing, he's cared for him, he's taught, he's teaching them how to
- 44:19be a man. You get to see this story, this movie that is
- 44:23just a magical look into the relationship of a father and son in such a
- 44:29complicated way that only Spielberg could do because he had such a such a difficulty
- 44:34with that himself, and he puts it in so many of his movies.
- 44:37You know, if even if you're talking about the other movies, they always
- 44:39have to do with father and son dynamics, and this is this is the
- 44:44one that best represents the relationship between a father and a surrogate son. Okay,
- 44:51I like it. Yeah, that came together quite nicely. It's a
- 44:54good case you made that. Defending the Temple of Doom is the best film
- 45:00hounded on the short round stuff. Father sun dynamic. That's all right,
- 45:02that's all right, made it cohesive. I always say far out of five
- 45:06points. I'll maybe far out of five points. You're happy with that.
- 45:08I could get crashed landing. That's another line before we even got the ceiling.
- 45:15Destroy their argument. We're only gonna get one more point. I couldn't
- 45:22help. We'll look, I'll break the scale. If you destroy. I
- 45:24mean, I mean you have to. You have to defend the statement the
- 45:29Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the best Indiana Jones film ever made. So
- 45:34are you ready? Yeah? Do you want to kick things off, Ben,
- 45:38I'll kick it off. Yeah, hell yes, whenever you're ready.
- 45:43All right. So, I mean, clearly, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
- 45:45is the best movie. But I'd like to start this argument by refuting some
- 45:49of the spurious claims. Maybe the folks across the table here talk about your
- 45:53own movie. First of all, like father son dynamics. I got two
- 46:01words, Mutt Williams actual son. Also, uh, wall to wall action.
- 46:10Is there a monkey tree singing singing sweet scene in Tumble of Doom?
- 46:15Is there a chase along a mountain that comes where the cars are almost crashing
- 46:20off? Is there a nuclear explosion? Is are there? Goddamn aliens?
- 46:24There's none of that. It's just like a mine cart race. Also,
- 46:30I'm like, I hate to break it to you guys, but Short rounds
- 46:31dead. There's like he was such an irresponsible father. There's that's why he's
- 46:36not in the next seconds. That kid didn't make it. He's toast.
- 46:39So it's the only one left a hand. The hat too, is our
- 46:43good buddy, Mutt Williams. Good stuff, good stuff. Then I like
- 46:49it. I like you taking down their argument and linking it back to your
- 46:52own in terms of the father son's story that's in that. But can Oldra
- 46:55improve? Can can Aldra ad mo to this? In a minute? Let's
- 46:59find out? Probably not. Have you seen Kingdom of the Crystal Skull No,
- 47:06doesn't matter. Yeah, I think you've called this anyway. I think
- 47:10there are ways you get an argument monkeys. Yeah, you understand, I
- 47:15haven't argument whenever you're ready. I think the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull um,
- 47:21like the original text, this is pulp fiction. These are stories that
- 47:24are supposed to be we're going like similar to the last one, but a
- 47:29little wild. Every single time, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was appropriate for
- 47:35its time, in its story and what was exciting at the time of its
- 47:37release, And even if you didn't like it, it reminded people of the
- 47:42original trilogy. I guarantee, if we look at the numbers, views and
- 47:47like rewatches on the original trilogy will have skyrocketed at the release of Kingdom of
- 47:53the Crystal Skull Um. But what was there to rewatch When Temple of do
- 48:00one movie, there's just one to rewatch. So really, from a financial
- 48:04perspective, like from the organization, we are getting rewatches on three films.
- 48:09We are tripling the impact financially of Temple of Doom. Nice this argument brought
- 48:17to you by Disney. It's just so read from stress caught up plummes.
- 48:29I just started crying, fellow like a lot. I've got to decide points
- 48:34now is the problem? And this is difficult because you had a tougher argument
- 48:37to make for the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Uh. I'm also going
- 48:43to give you four points. I think Auldre tipped it from three to four
- 48:45by mentioning the financial aspects and the linking future future generations to Indiana Jones.
- 48:51I'm gonna cop out and I'm gonna give you four points guaranteed to never let
- 48:54him rest, right, Ben, Those are your guilt points, those are
- 49:00blood points. Okay. I've got one more statement for each team, and
- 49:06this time they are genuine takes from fans on Reddit, and I think,
- 49:13yeah, well, we'll have the Klimas decide which one they want to they
- 49:15want to take out of this here are the two statements. Willie isn't whiny,
- 49:22Willie is relatable, and then the other statement is Indiana Jones should always
- 49:28be silly. It's essentially ducktails. Which one of those would you like to
- 49:31defend? Neither obvious. We knew that, but I did have to say
- 49:37it. The second one, maybe, Yeah, Indiana Jones is essentially ducktails.
- 49:43Yeah, yeah, I think I think I could formulate a better argument
- 49:46for that. Do you want to go first? And then i'll I'll build
- 49:50and unless you want me to go first because you want first on the last
- 49:52one, follow your heart. I don't care either way. If I get
- 49:55you know, it's ticking in my head slowly right now, So yeah,
- 50:00I can go first. It's fine, okay, coo coo, coo coo.
- 50:01Okay, your time, thoughts whenever you ready. So, pulp action
- 50:06has a long and storied history. I mean, like you talk about like
- 50:08pulp novels and they were, you know, derided in their time, and
- 50:12that's what this is a homage too. Like these stories were over the top,
- 50:16they were ridiculous, they were they were not meant to be taken seriously
- 50:21or to be realistic in any way. Shape or form, and uh,
- 50:25you know, George Lucas, being the master of comedy that he is,
- 50:30it just makes sense for Indiana Jones to be silly. I mean, I
- 50:32think Spielberg came in. He kind of fucked the whole thing up, honestly.
- 50:36Like that that initial chase out of the out of the Temple in the
- 50:39beginning of Raiders of Lost arc missed a great opportunity. Should have been yakety
- 50:45Sacks in the background. I don't know what this job was doing, but
- 50:49it would have fit perfectly. As those natives are chasing him down the beach
- 50:52and he's saying, start the plane, you know, um, and only
- 50:57in uh, you know recent day seconds have they got? And a little
- 51:00sillier and I think Disney's on the right track. Nice good stuff. It
- 51:07might have pained you to say it, but this is that's how you defend
- 51:09statements in fan thoughts. Very good. I would like to as you're okay
- 51:14me clipping this out of context everyone, because that's how you get engagement.
- 51:20Then that's how you get the I'll actually animate mouth movements to him the older.
- 51:30Would you like to add to the argument or form You're an argument in
- 51:34a minute. I would love to do one of those two things in a
- 51:37minute, lovely, whenever you're ready. I think that one of the greatest
- 51:40things in silliness is physical comedy. Yes, so with the Indiana Jones franchise,
- 51:46when we think of that, we think of the action sequences. That
- 51:51is one of the biggest things we think. We think of, like oh,
- 51:52in the Gauntlet and the always running and now there's a boulder um.
- 51:57Physical physical comedy slapstick is huge, and I think this would be great because
- 52:04it would increase those action sequences that we all love and would love the whole
- 52:07film the whole time to just be action sequences. We can have that under
- 52:12this new system of strictly silly Indiana Jones. Okay, we can introduce honestly,
- 52:20like there is still narrative in that slapstick. We watch professional wrestling.
- 52:23You can tell a narrative through physical interaction. And honestly, I think that
- 52:30it is the next best way for the Indiana Jones franchise to go Indiana Jones
- 52:36and the something is something, but it sounds like it's slapstick. I don't
- 52:38have the time to come about the Joe. That's your time. This this
- 52:45is easy for me. Three points. Nobody mentioned ducktails, so I thought
- 52:51that was implied in the title. Honestly, I assume everything that I say
- 52:57is a little bit connected to duck Yeah. Yeah, I mean to know
- 53:00who he was. I needed to know he Louie was come on. Okay,
- 53:04So that means the statement that will be being defended by the club Obie
- 53:08ones is Willie isn't whiny. Willie is relatable? Who would like to go
- 53:14first? John? Do you also want to flip it where you go first?
- 53:16This time? And I got just for symmetry, I'll try, I'll
- 53:20try to keep myself calm. This isn't fair. John's incredibly whiny? It
- 53:25is? You chose right? Okay? Yeah, I can see why why
- 53:36people would consider Willie to be whiny. She does have kind of a shrill
- 53:38voice. She is a singer. But not only is she relatable, she
- 53:43is the most relatable person in the entire series. There in a a in
- 53:49a series of bombastic, action packed, over the top films where things clearly
- 53:53impossible, how are happening? She is the only person who reacts like a
- 53:58rational human being would. She's falling out of planes, she's being shot,
- 54:01at, she's being stabbed at, she's being given chilled monkey brains and eyeball
- 54:07super You would absolutely be screaming and losing your fucking mind every second of that
- 54:15reaching through bugs. I one hundred percent guarantee if it was me and Ben
- 54:19out on venture like that would be going. She is. She is the
- 54:25epitome of the every person. She is the most relatable person in the series.
- 54:30Strong argument from John that, But I mean, Jason, can you
- 54:34add anything to that in a minute? I absolutely can. All right,
- 54:36I absolutely take it away. Now, I absolutely agree with my partner here.
- 54:38In fact, I'm going to add some things. Not only is Willie
- 54:42the most relatable person because of the circumstances that she's put in, Let's think
- 54:45about the people she's surrounding herself with. You are a singer, you have
- 54:49worked your way, You've learned the Chinese fucking language, a tonal language.
- 54:53You're in the middle of Hong Kong. You're doing your own goddamn thing.
- 54:55You're gold Dinger. It's great. You get thrust into the midst of Indiana.
- 55:01Motherfucking Jones, a feral man who has just adopted this child off the
- 55:07streets. He comes in and he's like, I'm an archaeologist. So okay,
- 55:13So you're an archaeologist, so you study people's cultures from a written perspective.
- 55:16No, you are fucking gunning running around fixing people's cultist problems. You
- 55:23act like you know everything. You're nagging me the entire times. You're yelling
- 55:28me at me in a cata catastrophic situation. Uh yeah, this is this
- 55:32is fucking frightening. You're an animal of a man. You don't talk to
- 55:36people that way. You're getting in the character. Yeah, Indian people don't
- 55:38eat chilled. She's a she's not she's not a racist. She knows this
- 55:43is not Indian cuisine. What the fuck are you doing? What is this?
- 55:46All? Right? Slit that one into the door that is not non
- 55:51bread or like it. I got a little I got a little excited.
- 55:55Yeah, yeah you did. And look I think you put together a good
- 55:58argument between between the par of you. I'm gonna give you four points.
- 56:00Thank you, Ben sighing or is that John cheer? That was me doing
- 56:08a cheer crowd? Well that's the end of the round. Let me just
- 56:14read the scores off this young lady's eyelids. Can you can you can you
- 56:17stop stop blinking? Please? Can you please stop stop blinking? Stop blinking?
- 56:23Those scores are the Collie Mars are on eight points. The Club Obi
- 56:29Ones are in the lead with eleven points. This is good. It hurts,
- 56:34This is good. Good. The quick fire round fixes all. Yeah,
- 56:38that's brain is not working quick right now. I'm all hopped up on
- 56:43predn zone. I'm all scatterbrained. Yeah yeah, now, I thought I
- 56:45was out of quotes, but match just sent me a text. Year What
- 56:47does this say? What could go? Wong? That's that's key Hi qual
- 56:52American four Chinese. That's a new series based on a graphic novel that I
- 56:57recommend to you. Matt, I didn't tell you this is a lot.
- 57:02Look round three necks before you put on this base. I reckon I shouldn't
- 57:07have done that Nazi bit up top Round three nights. But first, here
- 57:12are some annoying commercials. Most of Indiana Jones is set in the nineteen thirties,
- 57:16before contemporary advertising practices were even invented. It was actually the Nazis who
- 57:22invented the persuasive lifestyle language used in the US commercials from the nineteen fifties until
- 57:27the present day. So it's not funny, but it is. It is
- 57:30a fact. So see after this Round three is our fandom round and it's
- 57:39called fan fickle. That's right, Even Indiana Jones can't escape the rolling boulder
- 57:45that is online fan fiction. In this game, I will read an extract
- 57:51from a genuine piece of Indiana fan fiction, except a word or phrase will
- 57:54be missing. I'll then offer our team's three options for what that missing word
- 57:59or phrase could be. Get it right, and you'll score points our team's
- 58:04first extract. It will be like the same text for each pair for the
- 58:08for both passes, and then we'll do three texts overall. I'm calling them
- 58:13texts. They're on archive of our own texts are based. Are we both
- 58:20going to answer the same thing? Or is it directed in a team directed
- 58:23a team separate extracts from the same Yes. This first extract is from a
- 58:30piece titled The Honeymoon Adventure, which takes place after the events of Kingdom of
- 58:36the Crystal Skull, and it was written by a male presenting author. That's
- 58:40the only clue I'm going to give. So once again I will flip the
- 58:45dubloon. Jason heads our tales heads. It is tales three duck tales.
- 58:57Do you get that point? Now? So we mentioned details? Do you
- 59:01know what this is a chaotic episode? I'm giving you a point. The
- 59:07gratitude I feel, wait, gave it to the wrong team. Absolute chaos.
- 59:16I think it's the heat. Okay, so you lost the task.
- 59:21So aldre Ben, would you like to go first or second? First?
- 59:25Okay, you would like the first extract? Here it is, Indie realized,
- 59:31as he once more laid beside her in afterglow, that he was truly
- 59:36happy for the first time in his life, and content he had a beautiful,
- 59:42vibrating and passionate wife. How do I rate? That's what it says.
- 59:47That's what it says. How do I rate? She asked? Grinning,
- 59:52Indie chuckled blank He replied, so how did Indie are so funny?
- 1:00:00So how did Indie respond to that? Did he say? A better than
- 1:00:05the best? I thought it was going to be a number b B.
- 1:00:10You broke the scale, sweethoss. Oh god, well, Ce not as
- 1:00:15good as Elsa. But Natzi's a wild in the sack. That's even crazy.
- 1:00:22Sleep anything that your instinct is telling you. I mean, what do
- 1:00:32you say, what do you say after you've had sex? You know,
- 1:00:37how do you respond to how do I rate exactly? I don't know why
- 1:00:42you broke the scale? Would be my instinct. Yeah, I would say.
- 1:00:45It just seems like the most obvious, cheesiest amateur writer one like if
- 1:00:53you're like I want so that's the tough thing, unpredictability of the fanfic rider.
- 1:01:01Yeah, yeah, it could be. Yeah, that's this is the
- 1:01:05conceit of the game's great. Yeah, you know if you put your vibrating
- 1:01:07wife on a scale, so you're going with me? You broke the scale,
- 1:01:15sweetheart. It's not it's better than the best. Better than is the
- 1:01:20response that Indie gives there in this particular fanfic, you broke the scale,
- 1:01:24sweetheart, was the work of this amateur rider. The same text, the
- 1:01:34same piece of art, The Honeymoon Adventure will now a separate extract will be
- 1:01:38given to Club Obi Ones. And here it is. Indie's eyes were hard
- 1:01:43as flint. Not only did you disobey a direct order, he growled,
- 1:01:49but you've been downranked, rude, and more than disrespectful to both me and
- 1:01:52your mother. I'm not going to stand for that, Junior, blank,
- 1:01:58Indie ordered sternly. Is it a go to your room, B give me
- 1:02:04the knife, or see drop your pants and bend over the bed. Shut
- 1:02:08the fuck off. Oh man, I don't know. Man, I want
- 1:02:15to I want to go give me the knife. Yeah, but like I
- 1:02:21want to, I want to say that just so I can clip this and
- 1:02:22be like he's got a knife. Yeah, yeah, because I mean,
- 1:02:27there's there's no reason why I would believe one over the other, you know,
- 1:02:30if if it's coming down between Matt or the fan fack rider either way,
- 1:02:37either way, it's it's the clever line to say give me the knife.
- 1:02:39And that's from the movie. It's significant that that's that's I mean,
- 1:02:45well, Mut's always got the knife that he's flipping around. Oh, that's
- 1:02:47right. He does say that. Yes, you're right, you're right,
- 1:02:51Okay, say okay, B give me the knife. Yeah it is not
- 1:02:54it is drop your pants and bend over the bed. He's an adult,
- 1:03:00yes, he's like twenty two. And this is the honeymoon. This is
- 1:03:02there's an entire fan fixed scene where he punishes for misbehaving on his Honeyman.
- 1:03:09That's a crazy I shouldn't say that. I thought he was just going to
- 1:03:13send him back to college. Come on, I mean he did after the
- 1:03:16spanking. That was just an exploding laugh for wolf at much nice. Okay,
- 1:03:30well, moving on. Our next extract is from Thoughts of a Crazed
- 1:03:35Archaeologist's Pupil. This is about a twenty something Indiana Jones in the first person's
- 1:03:40perspective, studying under Abner Ravenwood, and it was written by a female presenting
- 1:03:45author. That's you clue this time it would have helped with the male one
- 1:03:50in the spanking. I guess that's a yeah. Listen, I'm not I
- 1:03:53am going to say this what a crazy thought process? Hey look, it's
- 1:03:57fan fiction. I know anything's game. I know, I know, I
- 1:04:00know, so club every ones, you will go first this time. Okay,
- 1:04:04here is your extract from that text, Ravenwood allows a smile to leap
- 1:04:11across her face before throwing herself at the cook and hooking her tightly. Thank
- 1:04:16you so much, You're wonderful. I would kiss you if I weren't blank.
- 1:04:23Is it a madly in love with Indie b definitely straight? Or see
- 1:04:30about to eat a pancake? Oh my goodness, what in the what the
- 1:04:35crazy thing is that the pancake one is not the craziest of these dates,
- 1:04:41you know, like, that's not the wildest one because and I just clicked
- 1:04:45for this abner Ravenwood would be and because you also use the pronoun her,
- 1:04:49So that's raven Wood's wife, that's the mother. This is Marian. Yeah
- 1:04:57okay, so this is Mary and talking to a cook. Yeah, yes,
- 1:05:01okay. And if it helps, India is spying on them in the
- 1:05:03corner of the kitchen. Oh god, it doesn't. It doesn't that that
- 1:05:09could because I thought this whole time for some reason, it was like her
- 1:05:12mom and her mom was into indie too, and I could see that in
- 1:05:15the fan fiction world. And for that reason, I'm leaning I am link
- 1:05:19gonna lean towards the first one because it's cheesy. I'm I'm leaning that way
- 1:05:25too, and like, I don't it's it's sort of I don't want to
- 1:05:28just go for the stereotype of like, oh, it's a female presenting author,
- 1:05:31so it's it's romantic. But I also don't don't want to over the
- 1:05:35one like, oh, I'm definitely straight. Yeah, the pancakes just off
- 1:05:41the table, I mean, I mean, that's that's there getting eaten if
- 1:05:45I'm about to mom about to eat a pancake, like, because then then
- 1:05:49she would be staying with the cook. I'm at no, Indie's in the
- 1:05:53corner, and he like takes the pancake and slides it into the trash in
- 1:05:57the hopes that now now they're going to kiss. Clear he doesn't just just
- 1:06:03flop it out on the plate instead, Okay, never mind. Um oh,
- 1:06:10that's a couple of chapters the John Williams poem music very dramatic. Um,
- 1:06:17I think I'll go with you, Jason, I think I think is
- 1:06:20is logical? Yeah, a madly in love with Indie. It's not that
- 1:06:29too much logic. It's about to eat a pancake that would have been my
- 1:06:34chot. Is fan fic writer is, unbeknownst to himself, a fantastic comedy
- 1:06:40writer. Yes, absolutely, Remember this is fan fiction. It's never gonna
- 1:06:46fully make sense. Okay, man, So the Galli mas here is your
- 1:06:50extract from that same text. I blink angrily and hold back a string of
- 1:06:56profanity. Stop what they're doing. You need to stop and tell me what
- 1:07:05that looks like. So angrily blink. I've had hard eyeballs okay, not
- 1:07:13eyes hard or whatever it was. She just has fuck you written. That's
- 1:07:21how you blink angrily? Oh yeah, God, I blink in you,
- 1:07:25I guess. Yeah, yeah, it's all good. I blink angrily and
- 1:07:28hold back a string of profanity to make a sailor blush. She's crazy?
- 1:07:32What the hell could possibly have been done to this girl to make her this
- 1:07:36nutty? I try so many situations in my imagination. Brain damage, bruised
- 1:07:43childhood? Blank? Okay, so what follows that? Is it growing up
- 1:07:47entitled, too much, hormones, underaged drinking. What were the other things
- 1:07:54that led up to this? Again? Yeah? Say the two brain damage,
- 1:07:58bruised childhood. Yeah, it seems like there's nothing but logic on this
- 1:08:01one. Gosh, good old butt logic. Is that one of the options
- 1:08:11butt logic and our options are teenage drinking, too much, entit hormones and
- 1:08:20hormones. Yeah, too much hormones, growing up entitled, underage drinking,
- 1:08:26underage drinking sounds like it fits the other ones. Is it's weird to lead
- 1:08:30with brain damage and end with entitlement. Yeah? And also there's the scene.
- 1:08:34There's the scene where every eight Mary and Raven Wood where she's drinking people
- 1:08:39under the table. Oh yeah, Oh so let's go for that one.
- 1:08:43Yeah, I'm going if you're cool with that, I am. I am
- 1:08:45cool with that. A you're going for underage drinking. It's not damn it.
- 1:08:50It is too much hormones written by the female writes. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:08:56I'm gonna watch that young Indiana Jones episode where he helps with the men's
- 1:09:00March or whatever, because there's no way that ends of good. There's much
- 1:09:03I swear, the amount of like smut written by women I have read.
- 1:09:09I could write an essay about like feminism within right. Yeah, well,
- 1:09:16do you want to get to it for our third and final extract? Yeah?
- 1:09:19Probably all right, because if we got time. A third extract is
- 1:09:23a saucy little piece titled Marion's Seduction. Now this one's a female presenting author.
- 1:09:29But look, it's not like bad writing like the previous two. It's
- 1:09:31kind of genuinely good for the genre that it is. But it's cheesy and
- 1:09:35horrible to read out and readly uncomfortable to hear. Do it twice. Surface
- 1:09:42this was saying it's good writing and then say all those terrible well, like
- 1:09:45good for what it is you know the other had the others had bad grammar
- 1:09:49and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, so you some locked bankings.
- 1:09:53Yes, okay, the author was Mattina Watson, that's why. Yeah,
- 1:09:58how how do you know? Okay, so I'm going to enjoy reading this
- 1:10:02out and making everyone uncomfortable. Try a good life. And I guess I
- 1:10:08guess we'll just flip it back over and we'll we'll say that it's going to
- 1:10:11be the Calimars going first for this one. He kissed me again, this
- 1:10:15time in the center and tenderly. He then kissed the pressure point of my
- 1:10:19neck. I gazed dreamily at his blue eyes, which sparkled. Nestling my
- 1:10:25head on his shoulder, he smiled, I love you, Marion. I'm
- 1:10:29not going to leave you, Indy said, stroking my blank. Is it
- 1:10:35a unruly mess of waves? Be flushed red cheek or see creamy left butterck?
- 1:10:53I mean, I really wanted to be creamy left, but creamy left.
- 1:11:00But it implies that the right buttock may not be creamy right. Why
- 1:11:10is the butter the whole butter creamy? I just left one. Apparently one
- 1:11:15just left one, like we don't know where in the situation this is this
- 1:11:17could be post coital kippy for everyone. Also, John screaming there really said
- 1:11:30it. Willie is relatable for him, he would be like, okay,
- 1:11:43so yeah, which hence are you going to go with? I mean,
- 1:11:45I feel compelled to go with creamy left buttock. Oh god, I have
- 1:11:49a headache. I say we go with creamy left buttock. If they wanted
- 1:11:55to get published, they would go with unruly massive waves if they wanted to
- 1:11:59get published. But they're not so creamy left butter. I mean, more
- 1:12:02importantly, they weren't. It's true. I believe this one was from two
- 1:12:08thousand and eight, so m plenty of time to get for an agent to
- 1:12:12get in contact. You see, you're saying creamy left butterck, it's not
- 1:12:15it is unruly messively. Wow, I'm gonna say that sounds like verbige from
- 1:12:19you as well, that the creamy left butter messively. I don't know why
- 1:12:26I'm laughing, because it was creamy left butter came up. Okay, that's
- 1:12:32more revealing. Why was the whole left butter creamy? It sounded like fake
- 1:12:40fan thick. Yeah, he doesn't know, but we picked it, and
- 1:12:43so technically he did a very good job. Sure, that's true. Who
- 1:12:46is the final extract from that same piece of fine art here? It is
- 1:12:53Indie knew how to please a woman, that's for sure. Oh God,
- 1:12:58his hand, his hands, wood, his hands, his hands gently cupped
- 1:13:04my breasts, eliciting a soft moan. I wrapped my leg around Indie,
- 1:13:11letting my blank a. And that's the correct answer. Is it? Is
- 1:13:26it a body feel closer to his b toes run up and down his legs?
- 1:13:33Yeah? Or some one or see freshly ripped fast hang in the air.
- 1:13:44I don't, I don't. I swear, I swear to God it's
- 1:13:49see. And you just preface this with it's good for what it is.
- 1:13:53I'm gonna punch you downstairs in the shoulder because that's insane. It's not good.
- 1:14:00I don't give a shit what you say. It's gonna punch you right
- 1:14:01and your creamy left buttock in your center whatever. It's tempting me with a
- 1:14:11good time, all right? So the person who wrote the what brown waves
- 1:14:17or whatever? Really mess of waves or whatever? Yeah, so allowed myself
- 1:14:24to get closer or ran my toes up and down the Yes. I think
- 1:14:29I don't know if it's just because toes are like a really funny thing.
- 1:14:31Well, they're not funny. It's kind of legit too. I'm not trying
- 1:14:34to kink shame you, but like toes are funny right now in the modern
- 1:14:38age. But this was two thousand and eight, right or was that the
- 1:14:41last one? Yeah? I think this was two thousand eight. This is
- 1:14:45two thousand and eight. But like, for some reason, I feel like
- 1:14:46they were like ahead of the game and like they think that that's sexy.
- 1:14:50You know, they're not trying to be funny. I've got no reason to
- 1:14:54say you're wrong. I'm leaning towards the first one just because it seems,
- 1:14:57Yeah, this one seems a bit more, you know, like Andra said,
- 1:15:00you know, like somebody would run unruly messive waves if they're actually trying
- 1:15:03to take it a little more seriously. This isn't pancakes or spankings. But
- 1:15:09I don't know. I will, I wish, I will ultimately leave the
- 1:15:13choice up to you if if that's okay with you, because you know we're
- 1:15:16in the lead. We're in the lead. We can take risk here.
- 1:15:18I don't know if we can. They got that bonus point. I think
- 1:15:20we're only like one or two points ahead a bonus point. What happened there?
- 1:15:26What happened? I really naturally and organically reintroduced the idea of tails as
- 1:15:34a callback. All right, well, I'm going to really organically introduce the
- 1:15:39concept defeat into this podcast. O. Yes, let's do it. I
- 1:15:42want to pull the trigger. Be Toes wrote run up and down his legs
- 1:15:46for the first points in this round, the fanfic round. Jason knows it.
- 1:15:51It's Toes. Sir gets the point for foot stuff. Knew it.
- 1:16:00Okay, that is the end of round three. Let's check our father's notebook
- 1:16:05to see if he's recorded the later scores. Oh, he's left it in
- 1:16:10Berlin Classic. I'll do it then, shall I? Okay, the scores
- 1:16:15are, including that bonus point. Callie Mahas are on nine points. Club
- 1:16:18Obi Ones still in the lead with twelve points. All right, okay,
- 1:16:23it's still anyone's game, because, of course, the quick fire can change
- 1:16:25everything. But before we get to the quick fire round, let's talk prizes.
- 1:16:30This episode Star Prize. It's the concept of adventure. It's important to
- 1:16:33maintain a strong spirit of adventure, and it will help keep you grounded when
- 1:16:39you're bartering sexual favors for fuel in the upcoming Resource Wars yeay adventure yeay,
- 1:16:45I'm like Indiana Jones already Indiana Bones, but our winning team will also receive
- 1:16:54the lost ark of the Covenants. Yeay. I worked a few shifts at
- 1:16:58an Amazon warehouse and it was there stacked on some boxes. It was great,
- 1:17:02top top men, indeed, I guess yeah. Our last set of
- 1:17:05ads now, but after this will see our last set of am falling apart.
- 1:17:11I'm one hundred degrees our last set of ads now, but after that
- 1:17:15will slide under the closing door. That is the quick fire around. Almost
- 1:17:20lost my hat. Our final quick fire around will test your broader pop culture
- 1:17:31knowledge, and it's called State Jones over here. Now, we know Indiana
- 1:17:36is named after the dog, but did you know that dog is named after
- 1:17:41the state? In this game, I will give our players clues to a
- 1:17:46US state by providing a list of famous pop culture figures or media texts associated
- 1:17:53with that state. That list will be given in the style of Henry Jones
- 1:17:57complaining to his son about those pulling things. Junior Janiard, why are you
- 1:18:03playing your music so loudly? Junior? That's good? Yeah, oh,
- 1:18:10and of course there's a classic gate leaper's twist. You can't just say the
- 1:18:13state. You also have to say Jones after each state. So if the
- 1:18:16answer is Alaska, you must say Alaska Jones. It's quick fire, so
- 1:18:21buzz in by yelling out your team name. Let's practice that now callim sure
- 1:18:31though, So for example, if I said, oh, Junior, have
- 1:18:35you heard the terrible racket from Alicia Keys? And don't get me started on
- 1:18:41that Donald Trump fella, and have you seen that thirty rock on the television
- 1:18:45beggars belief? Callima New York Jones. Yes, that would be New York
- 1:18:49Jones. Is the answer there. You can interrupt me at any point during
- 1:18:54my kind of sometimes good but sometimes bad impression. Here we go, Oh,
- 1:18:59Junior, will your turn that racket from Katie Perty down? I'm trying
- 1:19:02to watch my film one. Yes, uh, it's California Jones. It
- 1:19:08is California Jones. Good stuff. Yeah. Oh, these are all starting
- 1:19:12with pop stars. I'm screwed. We'll mix it up, We'll mix it
- 1:19:15up. Oh, Joaniar I just can't. I know she's a good actress,
- 1:19:18but I just can't stand the films of Amy Adams and don't get me
- 1:19:23started on that Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Yes, Soldre Colorado Jones,
- 1:19:30Colorado Jones. Okay, we got the Home States out of the way.
- 1:19:32Oh Joaniar. I just don't I don't believe in the comeback. Winona Ryders,
- 1:19:38she just annoys me. And you know, turn that racket down.
- 1:19:41I can't hear you. I can't hit myself think over Prince Prince is playing
- 1:19:45too loudly. Yes, John, Minnesota Jones. It is Minnesota Jones.
- 1:19:50Good knowledge. I only know Whenona Rida is like from the town of Winona.
- 1:19:55Maybe maybe something like that. I don't know. Is that how names
- 1:19:59work? I've always got to start with, oh, Junior, otherwise I
- 1:20:08can't guess into the Junia. I must say I don't enjoy the films of
- 1:20:14Wesley Snipes, Junior. And that's Arianna Grande, the way she goes about
- 1:20:17thank you next. And you know, what are those CDs you've got over
- 1:20:24there that you're always playing. I'm so annoyed by that flow Rider music.
- 1:20:29Obi Wan Yes, Jason, Florida Jones. It is Florida Jones. Got
- 1:20:33it with flow Rider? Yeah, Junior, I'll just cut straight to it.
- 1:20:39I'm really annoyed by Beyonce and Matthew McConaughey and Willie Nelson. Oh,
- 1:20:46I think it's gonna be just Ordro with Callimer. I think Texas Jones it
- 1:20:50is Texas Jones. Is that? Oh, Juniar. I really wish I
- 1:20:56hadn't committed to twelve of these. I can't stand it when you're always playing
- 1:21:02the films of Walt Disney and the films of John Hughes, for that matter,
- 1:21:08or any films that stars Illinois Jones. Yes, it is Illinois Jones.
- 1:21:13Good knowledge. I know absolutely none of these. John Hughes put everything
- 1:21:18in Chicago. I have no idea where anybody's from, so all just the
- 1:21:23homogeneous America. America Jones. I know he makes fantasy technology, at least
- 1:21:32for my time, Junior, But this Bill Gates guy, he's fairly annoying
- 1:21:35to me. Oh shit, yes, I know where he is now.
- 1:21:40I don't know if this works. But Washington Jones, it is Washington Jones.
- 1:21:45Good stuff, Oh, Junior. I just can't stand this. Stephen
- 1:21:48King, Stephen King, Stephen yes, Ben No, No, John Main
- 1:21:56Jones, Yes, it is Main Jones. That he's the Main j Jones,
- 1:22:02Junior, this is an easy one acknowledging. I like it, Junia.
- 1:22:11I'm losing my mind. Thank you for taking care of me in my
- 1:22:14old age. Thank you so much, Junior, Junior. I'm really annoyed
- 1:22:17by halle Berry. Halle Berry really annoys me and Martin Sheen what goods he'd
- 1:22:24done for us lately? And uh, some some old cook called Steven Spielberg.
- 1:22:29I don't know who that guy is. Yes, John Arizona Jones.
- 1:22:33Oh, it's a good guess. It's not Arizona Jones. I'm gonna throw
- 1:22:36it over to Kalama. Would you like to take a guess? I mean,
- 1:22:39if it was close, let's go with New Mexico Jones. New I
- 1:22:44may have you may have thrown you up because maybe couldn't be further away.
- 1:22:50It's Ohio Jones for that, it's close enough. He's like all these days.
- 1:23:00Honestly, same for me. Fuck all these dates a few months ago,
- 1:23:05Junior. It's such modern music. I can't stand this Johnny cash or
- 1:23:11you know I can't. I can't stand Neo either. You know you're not
- 1:23:15that kid from the office Clark Duke. I can't stand his stupid face.
- 1:23:18Callim yes, Ben, Tennessee Jones. I was gonna not Tennessee Jones.
- 1:23:26What dope you want? Yes, Kentucky Jones. It's not Kentucky Jones.
- 1:23:30Yeah, I think you're in the right ballpark. It's Arkansas Jones. Oh
- 1:23:33wow, Hey to anyone listening to this from Arkansas, I'm so sorry.
- 1:23:43Do you still live there? And they go fuck yourself? Ardra's eyelids have
- 1:23:48something to say to you. Oh, Junior, I was really struggling with
- 1:23:57this one. It's I'm annoyed by whiskey Kalifa and someone called and southern and
- 1:24:02minor league baseball player called Douglas Richard McDonald. Did you just google these states?
- 1:24:11Who's famous here? Callima? Yes, Ben. It seemed like a
- 1:24:15deep pulse. I'm gonna go with like North Dakota Jones. It's not okay,
- 1:24:19absolutely from North Dakota. No, I don't think you were listening.
- 1:24:27Who was it? And southern wow Kala? Yeah, whis Kalifa? I
- 1:24:33guess oh, and quick before the buzzer, Oh, Joan, I can't
- 1:24:39stand this Michael Jackson or this James d Yes, John, it's uh wait?
- 1:24:45I thought that was also Indiana Jones. It's Indiana Jones. Yes,
- 1:24:51thought about buzzing him before you even said anything and saying that, but last
- 1:24:56last time I did it, it screwed me. Oh that's well. Before
- 1:25:01we get to the final scores, I'd like to thank our players. You've
- 1:25:04all been adventurous and you all belong in museums in our country of origin.
- 1:25:13Museum for the highest bidder, sure, let's say country of origin actually really
- 1:25:17the Smithsonian, Ben John, thank thank you so much for another great time.
- 1:25:23It's a shame that the video didn't work and we didn't get to see
- 1:25:26your faces and fabulous facial hair and things such and things like that. I'm
- 1:25:30genuinely about to pass out. Where can our listeners find your podcast exploration?
- 1:25:38UM? I also really need to ask you about your recent AI episode.
- 1:25:43Yes, yes, that was such a mind fuck. So you didn't read
- 1:25:48that out at all? That was all AI generated voice? Generated voice?
- 1:25:54I did nothing. Did it sound like him? So I ended. I
- 1:25:58listened to it like. I don't know if that's a good thing or if
- 1:26:00I'm a psychopath for listening to it all. But I listened to it and
- 1:26:02then I went no, I think I think they got chat GPT to generate
- 1:26:06copy and then they read it out, but it sounded like them, but
- 1:26:10it sounded like them, and it was Oh, I'm going to do so
- 1:26:12many things with Matt's voice. We're about his permission, I will sue.
- 1:26:18We recorded a follow up to that that Unfortunately I got distracted and I haven't
- 1:26:24done the little piece of episode art for it. But it's going to be
- 1:26:27dropping either tonight or tomorrow night, and so we'll we'll we'll be talking all
- 1:26:31about it. Oh and that will be on the feed, on the Exploration
- 1:26:35feed by the time this episode goes out. Oh yeah, so I may
- 1:26:38even link that specific episode of course. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it
- 1:26:42was interesting though, definitely. No, I can't wait to hear your commentary
- 1:26:45on that and space Oddysey's where can where can anyone pick up a copy of
- 1:26:48that? Drive through Comics? Yeah? Drive yeah, drive through Comics?
- 1:26:53Uh? Amazon? Oh yeah, I mean yes, because comics Ology is
- 1:26:58dead. Oh yeah, they bought it announced Amazon. Yeah, or you
- 1:27:00can you can email us and we'll we'll send you a physical copy at what
- 1:27:05nice email at Geekxploration podcast dot com. I'm working working on number three right
- 1:27:11now. I know we said that last time. But but this time it's
- 1:27:14actually true. I went through some sus man I am, I am,
- 1:27:17I'm on it right now. Nice, it's not it's still in production,
- 1:27:23but I guess it's pertinent to this, But John and I are doing voices
- 1:27:28on an Indian on a on a podcast production of an Indiana Jones fan fiction
- 1:27:33written by Dan from the movie Seller and produced by Willie. Produced by Willie
- 1:27:40from Grand Repidians play video games. So what's that's so? I don't know,
- 1:27:44I don't know what it'll be out, but we've we've did our first
- 1:27:45thing of voicing for it. Yeah, hopefully cool. Yeah, we're playing
- 1:27:50We're playing Indiana Jones and and uh An aged Rick O'Connell from them from the
- 1:27:55Mummy. Yeah. It's like super crossover fan fix Yeah, oh nice.
- 1:27:58Yeah, yeah that's I mean, those are the best fan fixed. That's
- 1:28:00why I didn't choose any of them for the for the Fanfic Round, because
- 1:28:02you read them and you go, oh no, this is just modern cinema.
- 1:28:06I was hoping we get one of the lines we had to record.
- 1:28:10Yeah, I was like, kill it. Oh the handcakes that was Dan's
- 1:28:16writing, correct, Yeah, yeah, Dan, Dan's writing or Dan wrote
- 1:28:19it, Yeah, oh fantastic, creamy. Yeah buttocks, Oh yeah left
- 1:28:25left creamy, butter creamy left buttock left creamy. But can we get a
- 1:28:29clean can we get a clean record of that links to everything exploration and space
- 1:28:34oddities and potentially the new Indiana Jones thing in in the description in the show
- 1:28:40notes for this episode. But first, a huge thank you to Ash and
- 1:28:44Adam Wood for their continued support at the highest tier over at Patreon dot com
- 1:28:47Forward slash Gate sleepers, you are our executive producers, which means you can
- 1:28:53come up with a popular character and then fuck off to catering lucas. Hey,
- 1:29:00let's get to the scores here. It is like, it's all about
- 1:29:02the fun, guys, right, It's it's about having fun. Okay,
- 1:29:05Yeah, it's only fun if you win Fortune and Glory, Fortune and Glory
- 1:29:12Club. Obie One's finish on eighteen points, it's pretty good. Did the
- 1:29:18calli Mars catch up? So you finished on fourteen points? Good? It
- 1:29:25was Claus side foiled again, but congratulations it was close. Like Ohio in
- 1:29:30Arizona, we have been gate leapers. Thank you so much for listening.
- 1:29:36Subscribe to this feed for more geeky game shows. We've got game shows about

- 1:29:44five star review if you had a good time, and ignore this sentence.
- 1:29:47If you didn't, please share this episode with a friend, an Indiana Jones
- 1:29:51fan, your mum who fancies Harrison Ford, Harrison Ford, anyone at all.
- 1:29:56Really, we'll be back next time when we'll be searching for hidden and
- 1:30:00community idols. But until then, I leave you with this inspirational quote,
- 1:30:04how much of human life is lost in waiting. And that's from Kingdom of
- 1:30:10the Crystal Skull, So you know it's good writing. That wasn't kape.
- 1:30:26Guys, the room is hot. I swear there was like a couple of
- 1:30:30seconds where I was like, but obviously I didn't do it that close to
- 1:30:38the microphone because I respect my arty. Yes, just like the fan fiction
- 1:30:43in this episode, it's all art this podcast and fan fiction highest common denominates.
- 1:30:47I know you've had fan fictions on this podcast before as part of games
- 1:30:51and stuff like that, but maybe it's because I just didn't read a lot
- 1:30:55of at all. Yeah, growing up, but likes wild. It is
- 1:31:00fan fiction's wild, and I'm just going to drop this bomb and then we're
- 1:31:03going to move on and compliment Exploration and everything like that. Yeah, but
- 1:31:09fan fiction's wild and unnecessary in the last fifteen twenty is in my opinion,
- 1:31:13because modern mainstream movies are just fan fiction. Now. Okay, it was
- 1:31:17so much fun recording with Ben Exploration, Ben one of the ogs for Flow
- 1:31:26from like the Drinkapedia days, John recurring recurring guests. They came on for
- 1:31:31Superman and honestly just bringing such good energy. Yeah that great. I mean
- 1:31:38all our guests of course bring good energy, but being like season veterans,
- 1:31:41they can just come in and just just rip each other, rip us.
- 1:31:43Yeah, it's good. It's good to have that kind Yeah. And you
- 1:31:47know they've they make a comic book as well, and I respect people who
- 1:31:50are created space oddities. Is really good. I mean, I think you
- 1:31:54should definitely check in. My fan girl so hard that they have the guts
- 1:31:58to make their own comic book and get it well and put it out there.
- 1:32:01They know this, I think they're I've mentioned this before, but there
- 1:32:05is some like there's a deep camaraderie between people who make things like oh,
- 1:32:12which is crazy because I hate you guys. Like, sorry, no,
- 1:32:17I love it. This is it's just I mean, I know it's partly
- 1:32:23the hate, but this was just a giggly episode. And the drinks,
- 1:32:31yeah, like shandies for those who don't know, and I because I just
- 1:32:34found out recently, half be or half lemonade. Uh pretty dang. Oh
- 1:32:39yeah yeah if you want, if you want them at home, if you
- 1:32:41look into I don't know, drink a little less or just have a refreshing
- 1:32:44drink in the summer. Yeah, half of like a Mexican lager is usually
- 1:32:46like the best thing to go for. And then half lemonade and boom,
- 1:32:49that's a shandy boom. It's incredible. Anyway, enough about shandies. Yeah,
- 1:32:55where can people follow us? For gate leapers? How? How how
- 1:32:58can people you know? Support absolutely I'm going to close it down here.

- 1:33:13edit it, Okay, I might add okay yea For those who don't know
- 1:33:15or if we don't mention in the podcast version of this the video got a
- 1:33:19little wonky on the Exploration Boys side, and I got wonky on my presenting
- 1:33:26side. But anyways, that is something that usually happens for We've got We've
- 1:33:31got twelve full length episodes video unedited, completely video version if you like to
- 1:33:36see our faces and reactions and visual gags. We also have a monthly bonus

- 1:33:46Yes, you recently sent out like a clip show, Yes, which
- 1:33:50is a really good example of what that's about. We sometimes talk in depth,
- 1:33:55actual thoughts and reactions to the month's news, and some ense we just
- 1:34:00get a little Sometimes we just do voices that it's Kermit the Frog's which which
- 1:34:12is a favorite of mine. It's if you can believe it, it's looser
- 1:34:15than this absolutely. But also if you want to check us out for free,
- 1:34:19we're on socials, the big one there, TikTok at gate Leapers,
- 1:34:24yes, and Instagram at gate Leaper's Pod. Oh, and could be at
- 1:34:27gate Leapers now because Instagram and threads are connected, and I've started threads for
- 1:34:32us, and that's just at gate Leapers. Is that connected to the gate
- 1:34:35Leaper's pod. That's connected to at gate leapers on Instagram that has no posts.
- 1:34:40O my god, So I think you need the updated lug in details.
- 1:34:45Do have to reset? I just got to one hundred followers, which
- 1:34:48is not that much, but it's a lot for me because it's hard for
- 1:34:50me to I thought TikTok was the main thing. Yeah, the TikTok is
- 1:34:55the main thing. I still work on the instagra. Well, will figure
- 1:35:00it out. Are you going to keep this in right? I don't know.
- 1:35:05It's tumbler, tumbler, gaily Bird. It's jury's out on the on
- 1:35:13the Instagram side. Maybe don't follow us. Yeah, look so look,
- 1:35:16our socials are a disaster. But if you're listening to this and you've made
- 1:35:18it this far, just rate the podcast five stars on Spotify or Apple podcasts.

- 1:35:27and everything like that. To be on the podcast is the main thing,

- 1:35:39put our whips away. I think we've we've covered Indie. We'll see you
- 1:35:43for the next episode. So, if you survive, take this. It's
- 1:35:46dangerous to go. No, that's the wrong. I'm so sorry.
