- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:05Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:09Speaker 1: Amy Torber and coming up on today's show, Lucy Jackson
- 0:12Speaker 1: and Nikki Westcott reveal what really happened when they reunited
- 0:16Speaker 1: with Lily Brown. Kate Cassidy gives first interview since boyfriend
- 0:20Speaker 1: Liam Payne's death and why Georgie Stevenson's dream.
- 0:24Speaker 2: House is on the market.
- 0:26Speaker 1: But first, Michaela Tester has revealed she's set to share
- 0:29Speaker 1: the full story behind her experience with the Paul family
- 0:33Speaker 1: on her new podcast. Kate, can you tell us more? Well,
- 0:36Speaker 1: the news really contradicted her most recent statement that she
- 0:39Speaker 1: would be moving forward legally. So last Wednesday, she wrote,
- 0:42Speaker 1: hi guys, I did promise receipts while going through and
- 0:45Speaker 1: actually collecting them and reviewing them. I realized something very,
- 0:49Speaker 1: very sinister was happening to me for many years. This
- 0:52Speaker 1: is something the police should be seeing, not the internet.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Although at some stage, I will be able to share
- 0:57Speaker 1: my story in full as I have shared every piece
- 1:00Speaker 1: of my life with you all so far. I will
- 1:02Speaker 1: have to delay for now. I will be moving forward
- 1:04Speaker 1: legally the way it should be. Now, there was a
- 1:06Speaker 1: bit of a backflip by Michaela on Friday because she
- 1:09Speaker 1: then shared a photo of a couch and a microphone
- 1:12Speaker 1: and wrote where I'm about to sit for the next
- 1:14Speaker 1: two days, telling you all absolutely everything I've wanted to say,
- 1:18Speaker 1: but couldn't coming next week. She went on to say,
- 1:22Speaker 1: not a single stone will be left unturned. This is
- 1:24Speaker 1: my story, my experience and my choice to share. Now
- 1:28Speaker 1: the podcast is called The Unsaid Podcast and at the
- 1:31Speaker 1: time of recording has 108,000 followers. I'm sure the Paul
- 1:35Speaker 1: family are looking on very nervously at this. I actually
- 1:39Speaker 1: gasped when I saw Michaela's post. This was so unexpected.
- 1:42Speaker 1: And when I clicked on her Instagram, It originally said
- 1:45Speaker 1: that the podcast was going to be hosted by Michaela
- 1:47Speaker 1: and Alicia McKenzie. So Alicia is Michaela's friend and manager.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Now it just says it's going to be hosted by Michaela.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I wonder if this is a legal decision because if
- 1:57Speaker 1: this does go to court for defamation and Michaela will
- 2:00Speaker 1: want to protect herself obviously but she might not want
- 2:02Speaker 1: to fit the bill for a friend. I was really
- 2:04Speaker 1: disappointed when I saw Michaela's announcement pop up because I
- 2:07Speaker 1: thought it was really mature and a good move that
- 2:09Speaker 1: she was going to take things offline. Well a lot
- 2:12Speaker 1: of people are now saying oh well did Michaela originally
- 2:15Speaker 1: call Anna Paul out just to get attention for her
- 2:17Speaker 1: new podcast? I don't actually think that that's the case.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But it is an interesting move to bring the podcast
- 2:23Speaker 1: out so soon after. I think the podcast is just
- 2:25Speaker 1: sort of a one and done thing. I don't think
- 2:27Speaker 1: she's going to continue to release episodes. I think she's
- 2:30Speaker 1: just chosen this as a format to share her story on.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I potentially think that this podcast had been in the
- 2:35Speaker 1: works for quite some time because the photo was taken
- 2:38Speaker 1: in a professional studio. Obviously, the Instagram had been set
- 2:42Speaker 1: up and Michaela's manager was going to co-host with her.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I think maybe she looked at the attention she was
- 2:47Speaker 1: receiving and thought, well, now's probably a good time to
- 2:50Speaker 1: announce that I'm doing this podcast because I'm going to
- 2:52Speaker 1: get mass exposure and views. Well, from a PR perspective,
- 2:55Speaker 1: it is a pretty clever time when everyone is looking
- 2:58Speaker 1: at your page, but that theory doesn't really make sense
- 3:00Speaker 1: to me because two days earlier, she said that she
- 3:02Speaker 1: was going to stop speaking about it because she was
- 3:05Speaker 1: following it up legally. I think someone's just come to
- 3:08Speaker 1: her and said, you should do a podcast and it's
- 3:09Speaker 1: happened all pretty organically. She also might've received legal advice
- 3:13Speaker 1: that maybe the evidence she found wasn't enough for a
- 3:16Speaker 1: potential prosecution. She's clearly lawyered up. And after the response
- 3:20Speaker 1: Anna received from her video, I think that she's probably
- 3:23Speaker 1: feeling very confident to keep talking. I hope that the
- 3:26Speaker 1: podcast is focused more so on Addis than Anna. But
- 3:30Speaker 1: a concept I talk about in the work that I
- 3:32Speaker 1: teach is quantum leaping. So it's like, you know, it's
- 3:36Speaker 1: a bit of a buzzword too in TikTok.
- 3:37Speaker 3: It's like how to manifest in quantum leap.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Influencer turned entrepreneur Georgie Stevenson has revealed her dream home
- 3:45Speaker 1: is on the market. In an unusual move, the multi-level
- 3:49Speaker 1: hilltop mansion is listed for both sale and rent. Before
- 3:53Speaker 1: we get into it, Amy, for those who are not
- 3:54Speaker 1: familiar with Georgie, who is she? Well, Georgie is a
- 3:57Speaker 1: successful entrepreneur who started out as a lawyer and influencer.
- 4:02Speaker 1: She has close to 400,000 followers on Instagram and she
- 4:05Speaker 1: co-owns supplement brand Naked Harvest as well as owning a
- 4:09Speaker 1: mindset and manifestation course, meditation and mindset app skincare brand
- 4:13Speaker 1: and podcast and at just 30 years of age georgie
- 4:16Speaker 1: is a self-proclaimed multi-millionaire and is married to her long-term
- 4:20Speaker 1: partner tim and together they have a three-year-old called ivy Now,
- 4:24Speaker 1: this home that Georgie lives in is probably one of
- 4:27Speaker 1: the most insane influencer houses I've ever seen. I'm curious,
- 4:30Speaker 1: why is she moving out of it? Well, the crux
- 4:32Speaker 1: of it is that the home isn't family friendly. So
- 4:36Speaker 1: in a Q & A on her Instagram story, she
- 4:38Speaker 1: revealed the exciting news that she is trying to have
- 4:40Speaker 1: a second baby this year. And in making those plans,
- 4:44Speaker 1: she's realized that her house isn't as child friendly as
- 4:46Speaker 1: they would like for a newborn. So she wrote, it's
- 4:49Speaker 1: the most incredible house, like it's my dream house. but
- 4:52Speaker 1: also we realize maybe not the best in our current chapter.
- 4:55Speaker 1: In an ideal world, we keep it, rent it out
- 4:57Speaker 1: and move back in when the kids are older, but
- 4:59Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll see. Now I had a squiz
- 5:02Speaker 1: at this house on realestate.com. It is absolutely insane, but
- 5:06Speaker 1: it's probably the least kid-friendly house I've ever seen. So
- 5:10Speaker 1: the main issue with the house is that it has
- 5:13Speaker 1: six different levels. It does have an elevator though, which
- 5:16Speaker 1: Georgie said is helpful. Now the house itself takes up
- 5:19Speaker 1: four levels. Then there is a separate level for a
- 5:22Speaker 1: self-contained studio and at the bottom is a backyard. And
- 5:26Speaker 1: Georgie and Tim's bedroom is on the top level while
- 5:29Speaker 1: their daughter Ivy's bedroom and the other bedrooms are on
- 5:31Speaker 1: the third level. That must be a real pain having
- 5:34Speaker 1: to go down in the lift. That sounds like I'm
- 5:36Speaker 1: taking the piss, but it would be a real issue
- 5:38Speaker 1: having to go down a level to get to your daughter. Yeah, well,
- 5:41Speaker 1: Georgie explained that she didn't like the thought of having
- 5:43Speaker 1: to go down the stairs with a newborn and they
- 5:46Speaker 1: actually bought the house when Ivy started sleeping through the
- 5:49Speaker 1: night and walking. However, she did say that if they
- 5:52Speaker 1: want to go take her down to the backyard, it's
- 5:54Speaker 1: down 80 steps. So she actually can't play unsupervised. I
- 5:58Speaker 1: want to know if they have someone working in the lift,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you know, back in the day when it used to
- 6:04Speaker 1: be a job. But I'm just saying this house is so...
- 6:07Speaker 1: And on the second level, we're going to Ivy's playroom.
- 6:10Speaker 1: There's a sixth level house. I mean, it seems like
- 6:12Speaker 1: they use it quite a bit. Well... I actually want
- 6:14Speaker 1: to start manifesting after looking into some of these features
- 6:17Speaker 1: of Georgie's house because she's onto something, which I think
- 6:20Speaker 1: it's the best influencer house I've seen. Steph Clare Smith's
- 6:23Speaker 1: family property is a close second, but this one takes
- 6:25Speaker 1: the cake.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And this property is built on a hilltop next to
- 6:29Speaker 1: a conservation reserve. It has the most incredible views of
- 6:32Speaker 1: the Gold Coast skyline, as well as the beach. And
- 6:35Speaker 1: it's not a small property. It stretches over 1,138 square meters.
- 6:40Speaker 1: There are five bedrooms, five bathrooms, an infinity pool, spa, gym,
- 6:44Speaker 1: outdoor kitchen, as well as you mentioned, Kate, the self-contained studio.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Where do we sign up to Georgie Stevenson's manifestation course?
- 6:51Speaker 1: The one feature that I couldn't get over was there
- 6:55Speaker 1: is this really strange toilet in the middle of the
- 6:58Speaker 1: living room. So it is encased in this stone cylinder,
- 7:02Speaker 1: but it's just sort of randomly in the middle. And
- 7:05Speaker 1: during a mini house tour, Georgie recorded back when they
- 7:07Speaker 1: first moved in, she said, It's a little round toilet
- 7:10Speaker 1: in the middle of the room. So random. We love that.
- 7:12Speaker 1: That's probably the most kid-friendly thing there, just having a
- 7:15Speaker 1: toilet that's so close to the living room. Maybe not
- 7:17Speaker 1: the stone. I might have mentioned this on the podcast before,
- 7:20Speaker 1: but some friends of ours, they moved into a house
- 7:23Speaker 1: that had two toilets in one bathroom. So you could
- 7:25Speaker 1: sit across from your partner basically and go to the
- 7:28Speaker 1: toilet at the same time. That'd be convenient when we
- 7:30Speaker 1: shared a house because we don't mind going to the
- 7:32Speaker 1: toilet in front of each other, but I don't go
- 7:34Speaker 1: in front of my partner. Maybe it's when you have kids,
- 7:37Speaker 1: like it might be easier if they need to go
- 7:38Speaker 1: at the same time. It appears that Georgie is having
- 7:41Speaker 1: a bit of trouble finding a buyer because the house
- 7:44Speaker 1: was passed in an auction back in November. And since then,
- 7:47Speaker 1: she's got a new agent and they've now listed the
- 7:50Speaker 1: asking price, which is offers over $ 9. 9 million. This is
- 7:54Speaker 1: the sort of house that you would see on Lux listings.
- 7:56Speaker 1: What I couldn't wrap my head around is that the
- 7:58Speaker 1: property is also available for rent. So it seems like
- 8:01Speaker 1: it's Georgie's preference just to rent it out. If you
- 8:04Speaker 1: want to rent this place out, it's going to cost
- 8:06Speaker 1: you $ 5, 500 per week. It's pretty crazy to think that
- 8:10Speaker 1: that's even an option for the couple considering it's such
- 8:13Speaker 1: an expensive house. It shows you how incredibly successful Georgie
- 8:16Speaker 1: Stevenson is. Even if you compare her to other influencers,
- 8:21Speaker 1: her business Naked Harvest is obviously doing extremely well. Well,
- 8:26Speaker 1: the couple originally purchased the property in 2022 for $ 7.
- 8:30Speaker 3: 5 million.
- 8:31Speaker 1: So they have made quite a bit off it if
- 8:33Speaker 1: they do sell it over the $ 9. 9 million range. Their
- 8:37Speaker 1: property manager, Ed Cherry, said that they've actually been offered
- 8:39Speaker 1: over $ 9. 9 million quite a few times before when it
- 8:43Speaker 1: wasn't on the market. Now, in terms of what they've
- 8:46Speaker 1: done to the house, Georgie shared that they were slowly
- 8:49Speaker 1: renovating the property in 2023. So all they appear to
- 8:52Speaker 1: have done is change the color palette to a whitewashed color.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I think it just shows how strong the property market is. Yeah, exactly.
- 8:59Speaker 1: That's often enough just in normal house sales to bump
- 9:02Speaker 1: up the price. I've noticed that every property, if you
- 9:05Speaker 1: just paint the walls white, it goes through about a
- 9:06Speaker 1: hundred K more. I'm just so intrigued to see what
- 9:09Speaker 1: her next dream house will look like. I think a
- 9:12Speaker 1: lot more child-friendly, maybe one level.
- 9:16Speaker 4: The amount of questions that came off the back of
- 9:18Speaker 4: that asking us about if we saw Lily, if we
- 9:21Speaker 4: saw Lily Brown.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Lucy Jackson and Nikki Westcott have addressed their much-publicised feud
- 9:27Speaker 1: with OG influencer Lily Brown. The Happy Hour podcast host
- 9:31Speaker 1: said ever since the trio reunited at M Davies Hen's,
- 9:34Speaker 1: They've been inundated with questions about what really went down. Now, Sophie,
- 9:38Speaker 1: our podcast even got a mention. Yeah, I was so
- 9:41Speaker 1: excited when a listener sent this through. Unfortunately, our podcast
- 9:44Speaker 1: wasn't mentioned by name though, but the host did talk
- 9:47Speaker 1: about our segment. So a couple of weeks ago, we
- 9:50Speaker 1: did a segment about all of the awful media scrutiny
- 9:53Speaker 1: around Em Davies' Hen's Party outfit and also touched on
- 9:57Speaker 1: the intense interest around Em's guest list. Now, followers were
- 10:01Speaker 1: very intrigued to see if there would be any fallout
- 10:03Speaker 1: between Lucy, Nikki and Lily because they were going to
- 10:06Speaker 1: be spending a boozy weekend together in Bali. The trio
- 10:10Speaker 1: fell out around five years ago, allegedly over Lily's boyfriend
- 10:14Speaker 1: at the time, Jerome, Now, in the segment, we said
- 10:16Speaker 1: that we would love to have seen what really went
- 10:18Speaker 1: down at this event. And Lucy and Nikki were kind
- 10:21Speaker 1: enough to drop us a couple of crumbs. Here's what
- 10:23Speaker 1: they said.
- 10:25Speaker 5: I heard on a podcast, I got sent to me
- 10:28Speaker 5: and they were like, you know, I would have loved
- 10:30Speaker 5: to have been a fly on the wall to see
- 10:32Speaker 5: all the drama that happened and blah, blah, blah. You
- 10:36Speaker 5: guys will be actually like thrilled to know, or maybe not,
- 10:38Speaker 5: maybe you want the tea, but like genuinely, and this
- 10:42Speaker 5: has always been the case since we had our falling
- 10:45Speaker 5: out with Lil back in fucking Timbuktu years ago. Since
- 10:49Speaker 5: we've seen her at things for years now, there's never
- 10:53Speaker 5: been any face-to-face drama.
- 10:55Speaker 2: No. Ever.
- 10:56Speaker 1: No.
- 10:57Speaker 4: I think we just sort of have always just kind
- 10:59Speaker 4: of tried to move forward and grow and not hold grudges.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Lucy went on to say that she's always been very
- 11:07Speaker 1: mindful that they're a lot older than Lily and when
- 11:10Speaker 1: they enter a social situation, they never want it to
- 11:12Speaker 1: come across as two versus one. And she added she
- 11:15Speaker 1: never wants to make Lily feel nervous, alone or scared. Well,
- 11:19Speaker 1: that is very mature of them. And Lucy and Nikki
- 11:21Speaker 1: seemed quite surprised that people were actually still interested in
- 11:25Speaker 1: this friendship fallout. They said to them it feels like
- 11:28Speaker 1: such a long time ago and that they've had 15
- 11:30Speaker 1: different lives since.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Do you think they're trying.
- 11:33Speaker 1: To save face there? Because whenever I've had a friendship
- 11:35Speaker 1: fallout and you haven't seen the person for a long time,
- 11:39Speaker 1: then when you see them, you're taken back to that moment.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I would have thought if it wasn't such a big deal,
- 11:44Speaker 1: then they would have made up by now considering they've
- 11:46Speaker 1: got the mutual friend of M.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Davies.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. It was very clear in this
- 11:50Speaker 1: podcast that even though they were trying to water down
- 11:52Speaker 1: this reunion and say it seemed much more dramatic online,
- 11:56Speaker 1: it's clear that they haven't rekindled their friendship with her
- 11:58Speaker 1: despite the fact that they've seen her at numerous social events. Yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 1: but you can be over a disagreement that you had
- 12:04Speaker 1: years ago and still not want to be friends with someone.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I don't know because if I was over it, then
- 12:08Speaker 1: wouldn't you just all be friends? I mean, it seems
- 12:10Speaker 1: like the situation– It seems like what they were trying
- 12:12Speaker 1: to say is, look, no one had an argument, but
- 12:16Speaker 1: I get the vibe that they probably just ignored each other.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It sounds like that because Lucy made a point of
- 12:21Speaker 1: saying that she spent most of the hen's weekend on
- 12:23Speaker 1: the dance floor, not speaking to anyone. It's not like
- 12:26Speaker 1: they said, oh, yeah, we caught up and had a
- 12:28Speaker 1: great time. Isn't it the most awkward thing ever when
- 12:30Speaker 1: you are in an event with someone that you have
- 12:32Speaker 1: had a falling out with and you want to be
- 12:34Speaker 1: staring and looking at what they're doing? And you can
- 12:36Speaker 1: almost feel their eyes burning a hole in the back
- 12:39Speaker 1: of your head. Well, I actually feel more sorry for
- 12:41Speaker 1: Em because I've been in the situation where I've had
- 12:44Speaker 1: two people at an event who were exes and I've
- 12:47Speaker 1: been having to try and make things not awkward for them. Oh,
- 12:50Speaker 1: it was still awkward for everybody involved.
- 12:53Speaker 3: And I really.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Appreciated the fact that they both came and were both
- 12:55Speaker 1: lovely about it. But it's really awkward logistically, even when
- 12:58Speaker 1: you've got your big table set up, you've got to
- 13:00Speaker 1: have them on opposite sides. But entertaining for the friends. Yeah,
- 13:03Speaker 1: that's right. Well, Lucy and Nikki also put to bed
- 13:06Speaker 1: rumours about Em Davies' engagement party. So at the time,
- 13:10Speaker 1: there was a lot of chatter about why they weren't
- 13:12Speaker 1: in attendance. And a lot of people thought maybe it
- 13:14Speaker 1: was because Lily had recently been named as Em's bridesmaid
- 13:18Speaker 1: and it might have been awkward for For all of
- 13:20Speaker 1: them to be together at a relatively intimate event, here's
- 13:24Speaker 1: what Lucy said about it.
- 13:26Speaker 5: There's so much over speculation. We couldn't go because we
- 13:29Speaker 5: were on that contract tour. We were contracted to a tour.
- 13:33Speaker 3: We would never ask Em to change her date.
- 13:35Speaker 5: And you've also got to remember, guys, Em lives in Perth. Like,
- 13:38Speaker 5: it is so expensive. Like, we don't just zip around
- 13:42Speaker 5: that quickly to Perth. So even if we were free,
- 13:45Speaker 5: like I'm sure we would have made it work, but
- 13:47Speaker 5: like even if we were free, it's a huge investment
- 13:49Speaker 5: to fly to Perth.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Like I just think. No, we would have 100% gone
- 13:51Speaker 3: if we were free. So true. But we, yeah, we
- 13:55Speaker 3: literally were contracted to the grapevine tour and it just
- 13:57Speaker 3: didn't line up.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 3: And she was cool with it. We were cool with it.
- 14:00Speaker 3: We'll be at the wedding, went to the hens, like
- 14:02Speaker 3: happy days.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I really love that they actually address the rumours and
- 14:06Speaker 1: go there with their listeners. I mean, that's probably what
- 14:08Speaker 1: sets them apart from a lot of influencers because they're
- 14:11Speaker 1: There are so many influencers that will put up a
- 14:13Speaker 1: Q & A box and then they'll get, you know,
- 14:15Speaker 1: all of the questions will be, you know, what happened
- 14:17Speaker 1: with you and this person? And they're like, I'm not
- 14:19Speaker 1: going into it. So why'd you put the Q &
- 14:21Speaker 1: A box up in the first place? Exactly.
- 14:24Speaker 2: My life has changed so much and I think about
- 14:28Speaker 2: Liam every second of every day. It still doesn't feel
- 14:33Speaker 2: fully real for me that he's not here. Sometimes, you know,
- 14:36Speaker 2: I'll wake up and it's a reality I have to face.
- 14:41Speaker 1: US influencer Kate Cassidy has broken her silence giving her
- 14:45Speaker 1: first interview since her boyfriend Liam Payne's death. In what
- 14:49Speaker 1: appeared to be a paid interview with UK tabloid The Sun,
- 14:52Speaker 1: Kate opened up about the One Direction singer's frame of
- 14:55Speaker 1: mind during their final days together, and how she found
- 14:58Speaker 1: out about his death. Now, Soph, Kate's decision to give
- 15:01Speaker 1: an exclusive interview to the son of all publications has
- 15:04Speaker 1: raised eyebrows. Yeah, it has really surprised the public. I mean,
- 15:08Speaker 1: I was anticipating seeing her maybe on a platform like
- 15:11Speaker 1: Call Her Daddy, which would appeal to a younger demographic
- 15:14Speaker 1: and also be more of a cultural moment for her.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I never thought she would give an exclusive to one
- 15:19Speaker 1: of the UK's biggest tabloids, particularly one that has such
- 15:21Speaker 1: a terrible... reputation for its treatment of young stars. Well,
- 15:24Speaker 1: the journalist Clemmie Moody was interviewed on one of the
- 15:27Speaker 1: morning shows in the UK and she specifically pointed out
- 15:30Speaker 1: that it was Kate's management team who had reached out
- 15:32Speaker 1: to The Sun a couple of months ago about doing
- 15:35Speaker 1: an interview, but they put it on pause. I wonder
- 15:38Speaker 1: if they were hedging their bets. I don't think The
- 15:39Speaker 1: Sun would have been their first choice, particularly because they
- 15:42Speaker 1: have faced allegations over phone tapping and really intrusive practices.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I don't think it made her look good by giving
- 15:48Speaker 1: an exclusive interview to them If anything, I would have
- 15:51Speaker 1: thought that Clemmie would have fought really hard to win
- 15:54Speaker 1: Kate over because in the interview, she made a point
- 15:58Speaker 1: of saying that she knew Liam when he was on
- 16:00Speaker 1: the X Factor and made out like they had some
- 16:02Speaker 1: sort of friendship there. So I thought, well, maybe Kate's
- 16:05Speaker 1: agreed to do this interview because she thinks that Clemmie's
- 16:08Speaker 1: going to go easy on her and be quite sensitive. Well,
- 16:10Speaker 1: there's been a lot of speculation that this was a
- 16:13Speaker 1: paid interview. There has been no confirmation of this. I
- 16:16Speaker 1: would assume it was. I 100% think she was paid
- 16:19Speaker 1: for this interview. If her management team are shopping around
- 16:22Speaker 1: the story, they're clearly looking for a particular price tag.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Do we blame her? She's lost her partner. And yes,
- 16:28Speaker 1: he was worth a lot of money, but that money
- 16:30Speaker 1: is going towards his eight-year-old son. So presumably she would
- 16:33Speaker 1: be in financial trouble because she was renting a mansion
- 16:37Speaker 1: with him. She's moved out.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Well, I'm assuming he was paying for a lot of
- 16:41Speaker 1: the bills. I can completely understand why she'd want to
- 16:44Speaker 1: be paid for the interview because she's opening up about
- 16:47Speaker 1: such a personal and emotional time. And also she would
- 16:50Speaker 1: want to clear her name because For some reason, she
- 16:53Speaker 1: has become a villain in this whole story when she
- 16:55Speaker 1: is the innocent partner here. I would have thought she
- 16:58Speaker 1: might have saved her story for a book deal. I'm
- 17:00Speaker 1: sure there's a lot of publishers that would be paying
- 17:02Speaker 1: her a lot of money to tell her side of things.
- 17:04Speaker 1: There is still room for her to do a book
- 17:06Speaker 1: deal because the interview was very surface level. She had
- 17:09Speaker 1: strict rules in place as to what she would and
- 17:11Speaker 1: wouldn't answer. And the interviewer later came out and said
- 17:14Speaker 1: that she was barred from asking Kate about the will
- 17:17Speaker 1: in particular. I was also waiting to hear her ask
- 17:21Speaker 1: questions about the sex workers that Liam was seen with
- 17:23Speaker 1: in the days leading up to his death. That wasn't
- 17:26Speaker 1: touched on at all either. I think that gives more
- 17:28Speaker 1: of an indication as to how The Sun actually got
- 17:30Speaker 1: this exclusive interview because they might have been the only
- 17:33Speaker 1: media organisation to agree not to specifically ask those questions
- 17:37Speaker 1: because if she went to a more respected– media publication
- 17:40Speaker 1: like the BBC, they would have said, no, if we're
- 17:43Speaker 1: doing the interview, we need to ask you all of
- 17:45Speaker 1: these questions to be balanced and fair. Yeah, well, this
- 17:47Speaker 1: interview was filmed and then broken into two parts, which
- 17:50Speaker 1: were featured on their website and was also cut up
- 17:53Speaker 1: into a ton of TikTok videos. Now, it was quite
- 17:56Speaker 1: interesting because Kate wore very minimal makeup and she was
- 17:59Speaker 1: dressed down in jeans and a green knit t-shirt. And
- 18:03Speaker 1: this seemed to be a strategic decision because She was
- 18:06Speaker 1: absolutely torn to shreds after Liam's funeral because she was
- 18:10Speaker 1: accused of wearing too much makeup and supposedly caring too
- 18:14Speaker 1: much about how she looked. I actually didn't recognize her.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I've seen a lot of her TikToks and I was like, oh, God,
- 18:19Speaker 1: she looks completely different. I think that must have been
- 18:21Speaker 1: because she was so pared back. Well, she looked very
- 18:23Speaker 1: grief stricken. She looked very upset. Well, in this morning
- 18:27Speaker 1: show interview, the journalist actually said that she could tell
- 18:30Speaker 1: that Kate had been really mindful about what she wore,
- 18:33Speaker 1: her makeup, her whole image. And she said it wasn't
- 18:36Speaker 1: a vanity thing. It was more so because she had
- 18:38Speaker 1: been so torn apart online. You could tell that she
- 18:41Speaker 1: was second guessing everything and she felt really sorry for it.
- 18:43Speaker 1: She's also got a team around her, a management team
- 18:46Speaker 1: who have analyzed the feedback that she's been getting because
- 18:49Speaker 1: an interview like this is also a career making moment
- 18:53Speaker 1: for her. And she really needed to present herself in
- 18:55Speaker 1: the best way forward. Now I want to jump into
- 18:58Speaker 1: the most interesting parts of this interview. There has been
- 19:01Speaker 1: so much speculation surrounding the final days that Kate spent
- 19:04Speaker 1: with Liam in Argentina and why she left the trip early.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So she flew home four days before Liam ultimately fell
- 19:11Speaker 1: from his hotel balcony. And following Liam's death, there were
- 19:15Speaker 1: rumors and a lot of reports that the couple were
- 19:17Speaker 1: fighting whilst they were in South America and that Kate
- 19:20Speaker 1: issued Liam with an ultimatum saying that he must choose
- 19:23Speaker 1: between her and drugs. Rumors of a rift between the
- 19:26Speaker 1: couple were fueled further when it was reported that Liam
- 19:29Speaker 1: met with two sex workers on the day of his death. Now,
- 19:32Speaker 1: the interviewer went easy on Kate because instead of asking
- 19:35Speaker 1: about any of these things, she simply said, did you
- 19:37Speaker 1: have fond memories of your last day together? And I
- 19:40Speaker 1: thought that was a very interesting way to phrase that question.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I think that's a great way to phrase it because
- 19:46Speaker 1: it's a very loaded question. Because if she says, well, no,
- 19:49Speaker 1: I didn't, then it's like, well, why? Well, the journalist
- 19:52Speaker 1: pointed out in this interview with The Morning Show that
- 19:54Speaker 1: a lot of what Kate said came across as really rehearsed.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Of course it would be.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:59Speaker 1: And she said she understood why she did that. But
- 20:02Speaker 1: the best part of this interview was when she was
- 20:04Speaker 1: actually off the cuff.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Well- In answer to this question, Kate said that they
- 20:10Speaker 1: had an idyllic last day together. They woke up to
- 20:12Speaker 1: a beautiful breakfast and went horseback riding. We saw all
- 20:15Speaker 1: of that on Snapchat. And when asked about the state
- 20:17Speaker 1: of mind Liam was in when she left, she said
- 20:20Speaker 1: he was very positive and so happy. Here's why she
- 20:23Speaker 1: said she left Argentina.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Originally, we thought we were only going to be in
- 20:28Speaker 2: Argentina for about a week, give or take a little less,
- 20:31Speaker 2: a little more. And after two weeks, we I had
- 20:35Speaker 2: a responsibility. We had a responsibility. We had our dog.
- 20:37Speaker 2: And obviously I never would have thought this event would
- 20:41Speaker 2: have occurred. I never would have thought that this would
- 20:44Speaker 2: have happened.
- 20:46Speaker 1: So Kate is referring to the couple's rescue dog, Nala,
- 20:49Speaker 1: which they adopted shortly before the trip. And the grab
- 20:52Speaker 1: we just played of Kate has been going viral with
- 20:54Speaker 1: some One Direction fans not happy with Kate referring to
- 20:57Speaker 1: Liam's death as an event. I mean, they wouldn't have
- 21:00Speaker 1: been happy if she referred to it as his death either.
- 21:03Speaker 1: This is a 25-year-old girl who's literally grieving the death
- 21:06Speaker 1: of her boyfriend. I mean, I get that 1D fans
- 21:09Speaker 1: are upset, but we need to remember she actually had
- 21:13Speaker 1: a relationship with Liam. She didn't just know him through
- 21:16Speaker 1: his music or what we saw on TikTok. This was
- 21:18Speaker 1: a real relationship. And I also think because Liam's death
- 21:21Speaker 1: is still being investigated, she's mindful not to refer to
- 21:24Speaker 1: this as an accident or a crime. I think that's
- 21:27Speaker 1: why she said this was an event. Well, you can
- 21:29Speaker 1: see why she was probably rehearsing some of these answers
- 21:32Speaker 1: as well. As anyone would be if they've got some
- 21:35Speaker 1: sort of media team. Now, the interviewer also asked about
- 21:38Speaker 1: Liam's mental health and drug addiction. Somewhat clunkily, I have
- 21:42Speaker 1: to say, she asked Kate whether it came out of
- 21:44Speaker 1: the blue or what seemed to trigger him that day.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Here's what Kate said.
- 21:50Speaker 2: With addiction, you never know when it's going to come out.
- 21:55Speaker 2: It's a really serious issue that I think is like
- 21:59Speaker 2: undervalued and underspoken about. You know, when I, like I
- 22:04Speaker 2: said earlier, when I left Argentina, we had such a
- 22:07Speaker 2: great day and he was in such a good headspace
- 22:10Speaker 2: and we were in such, you know, great, you know,
- 22:15Speaker 2: we just full of love and I never would have
- 22:18Speaker 2: expected any of that to occur.
- 22:21Speaker 1: In a subsequent interview with The Sun, which was not filmed,
- 22:24Speaker 1: Kate said Liam's relapse came hard and fast And as
- 22:28Speaker 1: far as she was concerned, it came out of nowhere.
- 22:31Speaker 1: When she was asked what caused the relapse, she said,
- 22:33Speaker 1: I don't think I want to answer that because I
- 22:36Speaker 1: literally wouldn't even know. It's interesting that she gave these
- 22:39Speaker 1: grabs when she wasn't being filmed. It seems to me
- 22:42Speaker 1: that they filmed the initial interview and then were like,
- 22:45Speaker 1: we need a little bit more information. And potentially her
- 22:48Speaker 1: PR manager wrote those grabs.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 1: You could really tell as well that it was important
- 22:53Speaker 1: for Kate to reiterate that on her end, there were
- 22:56Speaker 1: no red flags before she left and that Liam was
- 22:59Speaker 1: in a good headspace because she has been blamed. People
- 23:02Speaker 1: are saying, why would you leave your partner when he's
- 23:04Speaker 1: in such a bad place mentally? Also to deflect from
- 23:08Speaker 1: rumors that there was potentially some sort of fight that
- 23:10Speaker 1: triggered this whole event. I mean, again, it's not fair
- 23:13Speaker 1: to blame her on what has taken place, but I
- 23:16Speaker 1: can see why she would want to avoid anyone thinking
- 23:19Speaker 1: that that actually had occurred. Well, this whole idea of
- 23:21Speaker 1: her abandoning him is what has led to her receiving
- 23:25Speaker 1: a lot of death threat. And what she described as
- 23:27Speaker 1: the most unthinkable messages in her DMs, it actually caused
- 23:30Speaker 1: her to take a break offline for some time. And
- 23:33Speaker 1: she said, whilst it's hard, she will never let anyone
- 23:35Speaker 1: tell her how her relationship was with Liam because they
- 23:39Speaker 1: are the only two people who truly know. She also
- 23:42Speaker 1: wanted to describe their relationship as authentic, real, and something
- 23:45Speaker 1: you'd see.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Out of a movie.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I was really relieved to hear that Kate didn't find
- 23:49Speaker 1: out about Liam's death online or through the media because
- 23:52Speaker 1: it seems like a lot of his family members did
- 23:54Speaker 1: find out that way. One of Liam's friends actually broke
- 23:57Speaker 1: the news to her and she said she'd been scrolling
- 24:00Speaker 1: on TikTok and was home alone with their dog when
- 24:02Speaker 1: she got the phone call. So she said that she
- 24:04Speaker 1: blacked out during the phone call and tried to convince
- 24:07Speaker 1: herself that it was just a rumor, that perhaps someone
- 24:10Speaker 1: made it up just to get views online. However, when
- 24:13Speaker 1: it became apparent that the news was in fact true,
- 24:16Speaker 1: She said that she still found it so difficult to believe.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I mean, I think that was a feeling a lot
- 24:20Speaker 1: of us were grappling with who didn't even know him.
- 24:22Speaker 1: And especially when she was so far away. Like if
- 24:24Speaker 1: you were in a different country, I mean, imagine she
- 24:27Speaker 1: probably would have tried to call him a million times
- 24:29Speaker 1: and just had no response. She said she tried to
- 24:31Speaker 1: call his phone. She was pacing around the house. She
- 24:33Speaker 1: couldn't sleep for the first night. She said she felt
- 24:36Speaker 1: numb and as though she had no emotions as well.
- 24:39Speaker 1: And she seemed to be in this huge case of
- 24:42Speaker 1: denial over the whole thing. She said that it was
- 24:44Speaker 1: also her first time experiencing grief of this nature and
- 24:47Speaker 1: that it has very much been coming in waves. Now,
- 24:50Speaker 1: the reality really sunk in for Kate when she was
- 24:53Speaker 1: sitting in the couple's new house with her mom and
- 24:55Speaker 1: she realized that she would never see Liam again and
- 24:58Speaker 1: that they were never going to be home together and
- 25:00Speaker 1: he wouldn't see the Halloween decorations that she'd been setting
- 25:03Speaker 1: up those few days that she'd been home without him.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Kate also revealed the last text message that she sent
- 25:09Speaker 1: to Liam when he was alive. It read, I can't
- 25:12Speaker 1: wait for you to come home. And for me, you
- 25:14Speaker 1: are now to be a family again together. I can't
- 25:17Speaker 1: wait for you to see the house. That is just
- 25:19Speaker 1: so sad. Now, the most uncomfortable question for me came
- 25:23Speaker 1: when the journalist asked Kate if she foresaw Liam dying young.
- 25:26Speaker 1: And she backed it up by saying that she believed
- 25:28Speaker 1: Liam had previously spoken about that being a possibility. Here's
- 25:32Speaker 1: what Kate had to say.
- 25:34Speaker 2: You know, you never think that the worst possible thing
- 25:37Speaker 2: can happen to, you know, no matter what it is,
- 25:41Speaker 2: whether it's a family member getting sick or just a car. Like,
- 25:44Speaker 2: it doesn't matter. You never, ever think that's going to happen.
- 25:46Speaker 2: And it's just I never would have thought that it
- 25:49Speaker 2: would ever, you know, have turned out the way it did.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And I'm still just, you know, wrapping my head around it.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Kate then said if she could see into the future,
- 25:59Speaker 1: she would have never left Argentina, but unfortunately they had
- 26:02Speaker 1: their own separate lives and this wasn't the first time
- 26:05Speaker 1: they traveled separately. I think the journalist was desperately trying
- 26:08Speaker 1: to get Kate to make some sort of comment about
- 26:10Speaker 1: her being concerned about his drug addiction. In part of
- 26:13Speaker 1: the interview, Kate admitted that she was a 1D fan
- 26:16Speaker 1: growing up and she actually had One Direction on her
- 26:19Speaker 1: walls as a teenager. I remember she had a TikTok
- 26:22Speaker 1: with Liam in it and she had this character of
- 26:25Speaker 1: Liam on a Popsicle stick. And she said that this
- 26:27Speaker 1: was a sign of manifestation because she had created this
- 26:29Speaker 1: as a child. And look, here he is sitting on
- 26:31Speaker 1: her bed. She said that she had a crush on
- 26:33Speaker 1: him ever since she was 10 years old, which I
- 26:35Speaker 1: thought was really sweet. And she touched on Liam's hopes
- 26:38Speaker 1: for a 1D reunion saying this.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I think everybody had hopes for One Direction to do
- 26:45Speaker 2: a reunion at some point. So, you know, Liam, One
- 26:48Speaker 2: Direction was such a huge part in his life and
- 26:50Speaker 2: he would have been more than happy in the future
- 26:53Speaker 2: to do that.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I feel like Kate's comment is going to fuel further
- 26:57Speaker 1: speculation that One Direction will reunite for a special tribute
- 27:01Speaker 1: to Liam at this year's Brit Awards. I'm already seeing
- 27:03Speaker 1: this all over my TikTok. The saddest thing is it
- 27:06Speaker 1: always appeared that it was Liam and not the other
- 27:09Speaker 1: guys that was pushing for this reunion. Well, he really
- 27:11Speaker 1: was the heart of the band at the end of
- 27:12Speaker 1: the day. Well, I saw that Louis was spotted at
- 27:15Speaker 1: Zayn's concert, so they think that he's trying to mend things.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I personally think it won't happen because, as you said, Amy–
- 27:22Speaker 1: It seemed like Liam was the one really trying to
- 27:24Speaker 1: make it happen and it just wouldn't feel right if
- 27:26Speaker 1: he wasn't there.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Well, I disagree.
- 27:28Speaker 1: I think it could happen. I have told you guys
- 27:31Speaker 1: that ever since Liam passed away, my TikTok feed has
- 27:33Speaker 1: been full constantly for months now of One Direction. You've
- 27:36Speaker 1: got to stop sending it to me. And after piecing
- 27:39Speaker 1: it all together, I really think that this could be
- 27:41Speaker 1: a fantastic tribute Because he was so keen to get
- 27:44Speaker 1: everyone back together, I think that that's why they might
- 27:47Speaker 1: do it just for that night. They're not going to
- 27:48Speaker 1: get back together as a band, but I think it's
- 27:50Speaker 1: a beautiful tribute to Liam. I agree with you, Sophie,
- 27:52Speaker 1: because a lot of the guys have been doing their
- 27:55Speaker 1: own solo tours. So while it would be a nice
- 27:57Speaker 1: tribute for Liam, it's also a good promotion for themselves.
- 28:00Speaker 1: It was really sad because Kate mentioned that when Liam
- 28:03Speaker 1: passed away, the only way she could fall asleep was
- 28:06Speaker 1: by listening to his music. But then during the daytime,
- 28:09Speaker 1: she felt like it wasn't helping her move on. She
- 28:12Speaker 1: was getting too emotional. So now whenever she hears One Direction,
- 28:15Speaker 1: she has to turn it down. Well, as expected, there
- 28:17Speaker 1: was a mixed reaction to Kate's interview and her name
- 28:20Speaker 1: was trending on X. The backlash was fierce with many
- 28:24Speaker 1: One Direction fans slamming her decision to sell her story
- 28:27Speaker 1: to The Sun. One X user wrote, someone who truly
- 28:30Speaker 1: loved or respected Liam wouldn't sell their story to a
- 28:33Speaker 1: sensationalized tabloid. This is neither bravery nor sincerity. It's pure
- 28:38Speaker 1: financial interest. Kate shows once again that for her, money
- 28:41Speaker 1: outweighs respect for Liam's memory and those who still mourn him.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Another ex-user wrote, have a little attention. You're starving. God,
- 28:49Speaker 1: people are just awful. She's talking about her own experience
- 28:53Speaker 1: following his death, not really anything too personal to do
- 28:57Speaker 1: with Liam. Yeah, all these One Direction fans can jump
- 29:00Speaker 1: online and say how heartbroken and upset they are by
- 29:02Speaker 1: someone that they've never met and have never had a
- 29:04Speaker 1: relationship with. But also there's been no confirmation that she
- 29:06Speaker 1: was paid. And we have no idea, even if she was,
- 29:09Speaker 1: she might think she would have been paid. But then again,
- 29:11Speaker 1: why can't she be paid for opening up and giving
- 29:13Speaker 1: these details? Yeah, the thing is, she's not a rich celebrity.
- 29:16Speaker 1: She did date a rich celebrity and was living the
- 29:18Speaker 1: high life for some time. But we don't know what
- 29:20Speaker 1: her financial situation looks like now. Unfortunately, anything she did
- 29:23Speaker 1: would have been wrong to some of the fans. It
- 29:25Speaker 1: was awful because people were also accusing her of having
- 29:28Speaker 1: crocodile tears. And I couldn't actually believe it because one
- 29:32Speaker 1: of the moments when Kate broke down was when she
- 29:34Speaker 1: was talking about a trip she did recently with Liam
- 29:36Speaker 1: to the Northern Lights. And I felt myself getting emotional because...
- 29:39Speaker 1: she spoke about how it was the most beautiful trip
- 29:42Speaker 1: they'd ever been on together. But what broke her heart
- 29:45Speaker 1: was the fact that they actually didn't get to see
- 29:47Speaker 1: the Northern Lights and that she and Liam will never
- 29:49Speaker 1: be able to see them together again. And they had
- 29:51Speaker 1: all these cute photos of their trip. And I thought,
- 29:54Speaker 1: how can you question that? someone's emotions in that moment.
- 29:58Speaker 1: It's not like it's Married at First Sight where people
- 30:00Speaker 1: get accused of crocodile tears for attention. This is actually
- 30:03Speaker 1: someone who's lost the love of their life. There was
- 30:05Speaker 1: also a lot of debate around whether she had Botox
- 30:07Speaker 1: in her forehead and people were saying, oh, well, maybe
- 30:09Speaker 1: that's why she can't cry properly and that's why it's
- 30:12Speaker 1: not believable. I think this is the issue with TikTok
- 30:15Speaker 1: and how news is shared on that platform because obviously
- 30:17Speaker 1: the sun is going to cut that content up into
- 30:20Speaker 1: bite-sized pieces and you're not going to see the whole
- 30:22Speaker 1: context of the interview. So a bit of the interview
- 30:25Speaker 1: might pop up on your feed and she might look
- 30:27Speaker 1: really happy in it. So you might think, oh, well,
- 30:29Speaker 1: she's moved on pretty quickly. She's doing well for herself.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I just don't understand though how we as a society
- 30:33Speaker 1: can be so vile and just go online and say, oh,
- 30:36Speaker 1: this person who's just lost her boyfriend, it must be
- 30:38Speaker 1: crocodile tears. Like how insane is that? Well, all of
- 30:41Speaker 1: that awful commentary did cause a wave of supporters to
- 30:44Speaker 1: come out in her defense. They called themselves the Kate
- 30:46Speaker 1: Cassidy Defense League and they went into bat for her
- 30:49Speaker 1: on X. So one said, man, this is so sad.
- 30:52Speaker 1: I can't imagine losing my boyfriend in such a terrible
- 30:55Speaker 1: and public way where deranged parasocial fans keep blaming me
- 30:59Speaker 1: for his death. Kate Cassidy is so strong. Whilst another said,
- 31:03Speaker 1: wild how people villainise Kate Cassidy. Meanwhile, when Liam died,
- 31:06Speaker 1: people were demanding for her to speak. Damned if she does,
- 31:09Speaker 1: damned if she doesn't. Life in a nutshell. Well, I
- 31:12Speaker 1: think that's a good place to leave it because I
- 31:13Speaker 1: couldn't agree any more with that sentiment. This podcast was
- 31:17Speaker 1: recorded on the traditional land of the Kaurna people of
- 31:20Speaker 1: the Adelaide Plains. We pay respect to elders past and present.
