- 0:09Speaker 1: It's Christmas in July. Front Office Unfiltered JB. Jim Bowden
- 0:13Speaker 1: with USR resident GM with a fantastic Foul Territory sweatshirt
- 0:17Speaker 1: right now the hoodie, JB. I'm going to start with
- 0:20Speaker 1: the Toronto Blue Jays. Why because if they do decide
- 0:24Speaker 1: we are all out selling, it looks like they have
- 0:26Speaker 1: some pieces that go beyond just who is going to
- 0:29Speaker 1: be a free agent this year. So can you walk
- 0:30Speaker 1: me through the decision process for this team right now?
- 0:32Speaker 1: And then some of the assets they could sell in
- 0:35Speaker 1: a seller's market?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, Scott.
- 0:37Speaker 3: And by the way, four days right and four hours
- 0:40Speaker 3: and we get to the deadline. It's going to be
- 0:42Speaker 3: a fun four days, especially over the weekend, I think.
- 0:44Speaker 3: But great to be back with you and AJ and Eric.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I love this time of year. It is a holiday
- 0:48Speaker 3: for me for sure. So for the Blue Jays, I mean,
- 0:51Speaker 3: obviously you know where you are. You're not getting to
- 0:53Speaker 3: the playoffs, so you're at the deadline. The first thing
- 0:55Speaker 3: you're going to do, if you're Mark Schapira and Ross
- 0:57Speaker 3: Atkins is you're going to try to trade your expiring
- 1:00Speaker 3: on track.
- 1:00Speaker 2: So that's the highlights.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Our headliners are Kevin Gosman and Shane Bieber out of
- 1:05Speaker 3: their rotation, centerfielder Dalton var Show, and designated hitter George Springer.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Those are the four names that you're out there hoping
- 1:11Speaker 3: to move between now and the deadline, hoping you get
- 1:13Speaker 3: a decent return of prospects in that group. But then
- 1:17Speaker 3: you also want to make sure that you have an
- 1:20Speaker 3: open mind with the rest of you of your roster,
- 1:23Speaker 3: because this is an opportunity. It's a seller's market for sure.
- 1:26Speaker 3: We all know that, because why twenty two teams are
- 1:28Speaker 3: within three and a half games of the playoffs right now,
- 1:30Speaker 3: So it's a seller's market. So you're listening to all
- 1:33Speaker 3: this Mason Miller talk, right and you're listening to how
- 1:36Speaker 3: the Yankees are open to putting Dax Kilby in the deal,
- 1:39Speaker 3: and you're listening to all these teams willing to pony up.
- 1:42Speaker 3: And then you're like, well, I've got Lewis Varlin and
- 1:44Speaker 3: his numbers are similar to Mason Miller, you know, And
- 1:47Speaker 3: although you want him to be on your team next
- 1:50Speaker 3: year when you hope you're contending again, you know, to
- 1:53Speaker 3: trade a closer to rebuild a system or to rebuild
- 1:56Speaker 3: a major league team makes a lot of sense. So
- 1:58Speaker 3: I think you have to listen on Lewis Arland and
- 2:00Speaker 3: so the teams that are playing on Mason Miller you
- 2:02Speaker 3: want to jump on if you're in Toronto, and at
- 2:04Speaker 3: the very least at least listen to what teams have
- 2:08Speaker 3: to say or what they might offer for Varland, who
- 2:10Speaker 3: could be a difference maker for someone in October.
- 2:13Speaker 2: So that's basically the approach the blue Jays are taking.
- 2:16Speaker 4: The blue Jay is going to have to pair a
- 2:18Speaker 4: Jeff Hoffman in with somebody so that they get rid
- 2:21Speaker 4: of that salary leaf, but also try to convince a
- 2:24Speaker 4: team there's still value there. We just couldn't extract it.
- 2:27Speaker 4: As a Blue Jays team.
- 2:29Speaker 3: It's hard to convince other teams players that aren't performing
- 2:33Speaker 3: and producing.
- 2:33Speaker 2: You're not going to trick anybody.
- 2:35Speaker 3: But there are times, sure where at the end of
- 2:38Speaker 3: a trade you say, look, I can make this deal
- 2:40Speaker 3: for that package, but you got to take one of
- 2:42Speaker 3: my bad contracts with it. You got to take Hoffman
- 2:44Speaker 3: or we can't do it, And then you see what
- 2:46Speaker 3: the team says. So sure, I think a selling team
- 2:49Speaker 3: always at the deadline if they have an opportunity to
- 2:52Speaker 3: get out of a bad contract and take advantage of
- 2:55Speaker 3: a team that really wants one of your players. You
- 2:58Speaker 3: definitely try to take advantage of that.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Jim you mentioned Shane Bieber. Shane Bieber went back to
- 3:03Speaker 5: Toronto because he loved it. He was also injured and
- 3:06Speaker 5: took to opt it in instead of opting out.
- 3:08Speaker 6: And everyone said, oh, why Shane Bieber doing this? Well,
- 3:10Speaker 6: he loved it.
- 3:11Speaker 5: Is it hard as a GM to trade somebody like that?
- 3:15Speaker 5: You know, I'll even use Kevin Gosman, right, who's been
- 3:17Speaker 5: there for a while. He's been very effective there, And
- 3:20Speaker 5: you say, man, I got to trade this guy, but
- 3:22Speaker 5: I know he loves it in my organization. Is that
- 3:25Speaker 5: the hardest type of trade to make?
- 3:28Speaker 3: I don't think it's the hardest kind of trade to make,
- 3:30Speaker 3: because you're just trying to get better and you're trying
- 3:32Speaker 3: to win, and you know.
- 3:34Speaker 2: You always want to be loyal to your players.
- 3:37Speaker 3: You always want to be loyal to the good people,
- 3:38Speaker 3: your friends with them, right, you have relationships with them,
- 3:41Speaker 3: but you're paid to build your organization, whether it's short
- 3:44Speaker 3: term or long term, and you can't let emotion get
- 3:47Speaker 3: in the way for that. Now, in terms of these
- 3:49Speaker 3: two guys, are kind of different.
- 3:50Speaker 2: You know.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Shane Bieber is kind of tricky right now because he
- 3:53Speaker 3: had that great start at the start before last night
- 3:56Speaker 3: and it was like, wow, you know, teams are seeing
- 3:58Speaker 3: that maybe I can do really well, and last night
- 4:00Speaker 3: he has six walks and then the teams are going
- 4:03Speaker 3: to look and go, I don't know about the health
- 4:04Speaker 3: risk and all that kind of thing. So he's a
- 4:06Speaker 3: guy that's probably a player game later kind of deal,
- 4:09Speaker 3: Whereas depending on how he performs for you will determine
- 4:12Speaker 3: what I get in return. So you're gonna have to
- 4:14Speaker 3: be open minded with that. With Kevin Gosman, you're gonna
- 4:17Speaker 3: ask for a return bigger than what he's producing because
- 4:20Speaker 3: you're gonna point to what he's been able to.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Do in the postseason.
- 4:22Speaker 3: He's had postseason success, and you're a contending team and
- 4:24Speaker 3: you want to win and you don't have enough pitching
- 4:27Speaker 3: and that's why you're calling me. So you're gonna have
- 4:29Speaker 3: to pay a higher price than what he's worth. So Bieber,
- 4:32Speaker 3: you're gonna have to be more flexible. Gosman, you're gonna
- 4:35Speaker 3: ask for more than what his value is.
- 4:37Speaker 4: Right now, is this uncharted territory for gms who the
- 4:42Speaker 4: entire season. They went from World Series Game seven to
- 4:45Speaker 4: pushing essentially pushing all in as much as a good
- 4:48Speaker 4: team can in the offseason, building this team to be
- 4:51Speaker 4: really good, and now compartmentalizing and saying, crap, we suck.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Right now, we have to move in a different direction
- 4:58Speaker 4: because the teams are selling. Usually rebuild, but they're not rebuilding,
- 5:02Speaker 4: they're just selling off. Is that hard for a GM
- 5:05Speaker 4: to shift in the span of a five month period.
- 5:10Speaker 3: And not with the kind of experience that Mark Shapiro has. Look,
- 5:13Speaker 3: there's a reason why he's won Executive the Year multiple times,
- 5:16Speaker 3: you know, with Cleveland, with Toronto. I mean, obviously he
- 5:19Speaker 3: knows what he's doing. And Mark's experienced everything. He's experienced winning.
- 5:23Speaker 3: You know, he was in last place the year before
- 5:24Speaker 3: he got to the World Series, so he's been in
- 5:26Speaker 3: every role that's been in there. You know, when you're
- 5:29Speaker 3: sitting in these those big chairs in those jobs, you
- 5:32Speaker 3: know you've got to be ready for every scenario.
- 5:34Speaker 2: You got to be.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Ready to buy, you got to be ready to sell,
- 5:36Speaker 3: you've got to be ready to hold.
- 5:37Speaker 2: You got to be ready to be fluid.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And if you can't pivot and you can't adjust with
- 5:42Speaker 3: how your team is and reacts, then you probably should
- 5:45Speaker 3: get a different line of employment.
- 5:48Speaker 6: That's funny.
- 5:49Speaker 4: That's that's a good one.
- 5:53Speaker 1: If you're watching us, you already know we're wearing mack
- 5:55Speaker 1: Weldon right now as we talk about a great brand
- 5:58Speaker 1: that makes things so comfortable and easy to wear. But
- 6:01Speaker 1: if you're listening to the show, let me tell you
- 6:03Speaker 1: a little bit more about mac Weldon with my friend
- 6:05Speaker 1: Eric Kratz.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Yeah, it's comfortable, it's light. It's summertime right now. For
- 6:11Speaker 4: me though, they cater to what I need tall clothes. Normally,
- 6:16Speaker 4: when I buy tall clothes it's like something that's cumbersome
- 6:19Speaker 4: and boxy. It still fits incredibly well, super light, perfect
- 6:25Speaker 4: for the summertime. They got me all covered.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Comfortable performance material can be yours. Mack Weldon is the spot.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Don't sweat the heat this summer. Feel as effortlessly cool
- 6:38Speaker 1: as you look. With Mack Weldon. Go to Mackweldon dot
- 6:40Speaker 1: com and get twenty percent off your first order of
- 6:42Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty five bucks or more with promo
- 6:44Speaker 1: code foul that's m ackw eld o n dot com
- 6:48Speaker 1: code f o u L.
- 6:49Speaker 6: Here's one for you, Jim. You had King Griffey Jr.
- 6:52Speaker 5: King Griffy Junior was an icon in this sport and
- 6:55Speaker 5: one of the best players of all time. You traded
- 6:57Speaker 5: them to the White Sox team that I was on
- 6:58Speaker 5: in two thousand and eight.
- 6:59Speaker 6: Now it's not the same level.
- 7:01Speaker 5: It's not even close to Kangrivy Junior. But Salvador Perez
- 7:04Speaker 5: has been a lifer in Kansas City. He's probably going
- 7:07Speaker 5: to the Hall of Fame. I think he should stay
- 7:09Speaker 5: in Kansas City for as long as he wants.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Again, not my call. How do you make this work?
- 7:13Speaker 6: How do you call King Griffy Junior? Again?
- 7:15Speaker 5: I know I'm not comparing Salvador Prez to King Griffey Junior,
- 7:18Speaker 5: But how do you call that guy and say, hey, man,
- 7:20Speaker 5: I think we really should move on and there's teams
- 7:22Speaker 5: out there that we can get something for.
- 7:24Speaker 6: How does that conversation go?
- 7:26Speaker 3: Well, first of all, just to be clear, I traded
- 7:28Speaker 3: for Ken Griffy Junior. I did not trade Ken Coffee Junior.
- 7:32Speaker 3: He was gone after that, So I just want the
- 7:34Speaker 3: record clear on that I love Junior and I don't.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Know sorry trade.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I bet I could trade for him, but I understand
- 7:40Speaker 3: your point. You know, when you get to the end
- 7:42Speaker 3: of your career and you can't perform. And I did
- 7:46Speaker 3: have that situation with Barry Larkin, a Hall of Famer
- 7:48Speaker 3: who also worked for me in the front office when
- 7:50Speaker 3: I went to the Nationals. But I had that situation
- 7:53Speaker 3: with Barry where you know, agent Declined got him. He
- 7:55Speaker 3: wasn't the same player, and so how does it work.
- 7:58Speaker 3: You go to him, you go to his agent, and
- 8:00Speaker 3: you just be honest, you know, and say, you know, look,
- 8:03Speaker 3: agent Decline, is there we need to move on and
- 8:05Speaker 3: get younger. You know, will you wave your no trade
- 8:08Speaker 3: or would you you know, we know what you mean
- 8:10Speaker 3: to this franchise, or do you want to finish your
- 8:11Speaker 3: career here? And if he says I want to finish
- 8:13Speaker 3: his career here, then I'm going to honor that period.
- 8:16Speaker 3: If he wants to get traded, okay, I'll move the player.
- 8:19Speaker 3: But I got to be honest with what we're seeing
- 8:20Speaker 3: on the field. So look, it's difficult now. In Salvador Perez,
- 8:24Speaker 3: the right move would have been to trade him two
- 8:25Speaker 3: years ago. Right, if you're going to trade him, he
- 8:27Speaker 3: knew Carter Jensen was coming. Blake Mitchell's on the way.
- 8:30Speaker 2: You knew that.
- 8:31Speaker 3: But Salvador Perez is different. He's the face of the franchise.
- 8:35Speaker 3: He's never going to be traded. He's going to finish
- 8:37Speaker 3: his career as a royal. He's going to go to
- 8:39Speaker 3: the Hall of Fame as a royal. And it's a
- 8:41Speaker 3: good thing for baseball when that happens. George Brett experienced
- 8:44Speaker 3: that with the same team. Tony Gwynn did it in
- 8:47Speaker 3: San Diego, Barry Larkin did it in Cincinnati. I love
- 8:50Speaker 3: when it happens. I think Mike Trout's going to do
- 8:52Speaker 3: it with the Angels. I don't think he's ever going
- 8:53Speaker 3: to be traded from that team, to be honest, and
- 8:56Speaker 3: I think that's okay for baseball when it happens. But
- 8:58Speaker 3: I think when you're running the team, you have to
- 9:00Speaker 3: go to Salvador Perez and say, look, we've got Carter Jensen,
- 9:03Speaker 3: he's ready. We're not a contending team. You're at the
- 9:07Speaker 3: back end. Would you like to go to a contender?
- 9:09Speaker 3: Would you like a chance to play in October? We
- 9:11Speaker 3: got a lot of teams right now looking for catching.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Do you want to go?
- 9:14Speaker 3: And then he looks you in the eye, and he says, no,
- 9:16Speaker 3: I want to finish my career here, And then you
- 9:18Speaker 3: look in in the eye and say, well, that's what
- 9:20Speaker 3: we're going to do.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Then let's go a team that will never keep anybody
- 9:24Speaker 4: for their entire career the race. If you're the general
- 9:27Speaker 4: manager of the race, fans are clamoring to make a
- 9:30Speaker 4: big move just because the Rays don't do that. Do
- 9:33Speaker 4: you look at this roster and say, yes, this is
- 9:36Speaker 4: the roster that if we make a big move, we
- 9:39Speaker 4: can win the World Series because the American League is down.
- 9:43Speaker 3: So my personal opinion, if you're asking that, is yes,
- 9:46Speaker 3: I don't think there's any question.
- 9:48Speaker 2: This is the best chance that.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Eric Neander has of getting the Raise back to the
- 9:52Speaker 3: World Series. Andrew Friedman was running the Rays the last
- 9:55Speaker 3: time they got there. But I do believe this is
- 9:57Speaker 3: the best team since then that can get to the
- 10:00Speaker 3: World Series. Now, what I would do sometimes is different
- 10:04Speaker 3: what they would do, And who really cares what I
- 10:06Speaker 3: would do. We care what they're going to do. So
- 10:08Speaker 3: this is what I was told directly from the rais
- 10:11Speaker 3: they are looking right now for an impact position player.
- 10:14Speaker 3: When I asked what position, they said, probably an outfielder
- 10:18Speaker 3: because that's the easiest to accommodate. I'm not sure where
- 10:20Speaker 3: that comes from. They answered, bullpen always and then came
- 10:24Speaker 3: the and of course an impact arm if it's there,
- 10:27Speaker 3: And that's the quote unquote Schooble response, right that we're
- 10:30Speaker 3: all expecting. But Tampa Bay is willing to trade their
- 10:34Speaker 3: top prospects to get impact to try to go for it.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Right now, they know that they're never going to have
- 10:39Speaker 3: a huge window based on the present infrastructure of not
- 10:44Speaker 3: having any kind of cap their window to ever win
- 10:47Speaker 3: a World Series is always going to be small. And
- 10:49Speaker 3: when you get there, and when you have a shot
- 10:52Speaker 3: is when you got to roll up your big boy
- 10:54Speaker 3: pants and make that move. And that time is now,
- 10:57Speaker 3: and it's here. We'll see what Eric Naima can do.
- 11:00Speaker 5: All right, Well, then that leads you to our next
- 11:02Speaker 5: question to another team in the same kind of predicament.
- 11:05Speaker 6: I know they have to go through the Dodgers.
- 11:06Speaker 5: The Brewers.
- 11:07Speaker 6: You're saying the Raids are ready to do it. Will
- 11:09Speaker 6: the Brewers and Matt Arnold.
- 11:10Speaker 5: Be ready to take that next step because their window
- 11:13Speaker 5: has been here, they have another great record, right and
- 11:16Speaker 5: they haven't been able to get to the World series.
- 11:18Speaker 6: Will they make that move?
- 11:20Speaker 3: Yeah, And of course it's challenging in a small market, right.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I mean I covered the Brewers Dodgers series last year
- 11:25Speaker 3: and there was just such a mismatch. When one team
- 11:28Speaker 3: supends three hundred million more per season than you do.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I mean, you just look at the teams that we
- 11:34Speaker 3: all get it. But here's the fun part about Milwaukee.
- 11:37Speaker 3: If you're able to trade for Trek Scooble, you can
- 11:40Speaker 3: beat the Dodgers this year if you run out there
- 11:42Speaker 3: Miserowski and schoobl in Games one and two and Kyle
- 11:45Speaker 3: Harrison comes back healthy and he's pitching Game three with
- 11:48Speaker 3: the bullpen. They have the offense they have, how they
- 11:50Speaker 3: can move the chains, how they're athletic, how they catch
- 11:53Speaker 3: the ball. They can beat the Dodgers in a short
- 11:55Speaker 3: series if they do that. So I'm being told that
- 11:57Speaker 3: they are in on schoobl for sure. And I will
- 11:59Speaker 3: say this if he's traded, which I don't know. Scott
- 12:02Speaker 3: Harris doesn't know. I don't know if he's going to
- 12:04Speaker 3: be traded, but if he is, I will tell you
- 12:06Speaker 3: this right now. I think the Brewers are the most
- 12:08Speaker 3: likely landing spot. I'll rank them one Dodgers, two, Braves, three,
- 12:12Speaker 3: Tampa four in that order. The Brewers farm system is
- 12:16Speaker 3: as good as any team out there that's trying to
- 12:19Speaker 3: get him.
- 12:20Speaker 2: They also have so much depth.
- 12:22Speaker 3: When you talk about the best prospect in baseball, Tezu Moday,
- 12:25Speaker 3: he's not going anywhere. But they got Lewis Payne, you too,
- 12:28Speaker 3: who's nineteen years old. He's got a chance for your superstar,
- 12:30Speaker 3: and he'd be the number one prospect in most organizations.
- 12:33Speaker 3: You can afford to deal him if you want to,
- 12:35Speaker 3: because you have made you have Cooper pret you have enough.
- 12:40Speaker 3: You can give them a starter to go back and
- 12:42Speaker 3: Brandon Sprode, who you picked up when for Peralta, who
- 12:45Speaker 3: was a rental, So no problem putting him back in.
- 12:48Speaker 3: And then you can sweepen the pot with maybe Tyson
- 12:51Speaker 3: Harden the pitcher, maybe Andrew Fisher.
- 12:53Speaker 2: The third baseman. You have enough there.
- 12:55Speaker 3: And remember this, Mark Antonasio, the owner in two thousand
- 12:58Speaker 3: and eight, made the deal for Sabathia. Gave them a
- 13:01Speaker 3: shot to win a World Series. They didn't do it,
- 13:04Speaker 3: but gave them a shot. Mark Antonasio has told Matt Arnold,
- 13:07Speaker 3: green light, go do it. I'm ready, here we go,
- 13:11Speaker 3: So I think they're gonna make a run at it.
- 13:13Speaker 3: If he is traded, I give them as good a
- 13:15Speaker 3: shot as the Dodgers and anybody else in getting him.
- 13:18Speaker 3: And by the way, if I'm the Union, I want
- 13:20Speaker 3: that to happen, right.
- 13:22Speaker 2: I don't want.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Schooble going to the Dodgers. If I'm the Union, have
- 13:25Speaker 3: the Dodgers win again. If he goes to Milwaukee and wins,
- 13:28Speaker 3: and you have a Milwaukee Tampa Bay World Series, good
- 13:31Speaker 3: luck arguing for a hard cap.
- 13:32Speaker 2: If Scooble goes to the Dodgers.
- 13:34Speaker 3: And they win the World Series, Okay, no baseball in
- 13:36Speaker 3: twenty seven, and then I don't get to come on
- 13:38Speaker 3: this show every week.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Oh then we need you even more to talk about
- 13:42Speaker 4: even though they're not playing. We need to talk about wins,
- 13:44Speaker 4: the negotiations they're going to end. Is this equal for
- 13:48Speaker 4: fans who weren't around in two thousand and eight? Is
- 13:50Speaker 4: this equal to the Doug Melvin move of getting CC
- 13:53Speaker 4: Sabbathia to the Brewers? If Trek Scouble comes over to
- 13:57Speaker 4: the Brewers.
- 13:59Speaker 2: I think it's bigger.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I do because I think it's I've got miss and Schooble.
- 14:04Speaker 3: I got the two best pitchers in each league in
- 14:08Speaker 3: a short series against the best team in the world,
- 14:11Speaker 3: and I can beat you with that, So I think
- 14:14Speaker 3: it's bigger. I think it's more significant. It really puts
- 14:17Speaker 3: the Brewers in a position where they can be the
- 14:19Speaker 3: best team in the world. So yeah, I think it's uh.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I think it would change everything, the whole landscape, and really,
- 14:25Speaker 3: I think it'd be great for the sport. To be honest,
- 14:27Speaker 3: I think it's bigger than Milwaukee. I think it's great
- 14:29Speaker 3: for the industry if that can happen. So I'm rooting for.
- 14:32Speaker 3: You know, Matt Arnold was my last hire when I
- 14:34Speaker 3: was the GM of the Cincinnati Reds. He's won two
- 14:37Speaker 3: Executive the Year Awards. He gets Schooble, who went a
- 14:40Speaker 3: third in a row, and that's never happened before.
- 14:43Speaker 2: So I'm rooting for. He's a good friend of.
- 14:45Speaker 5: Mine, Jim. That's what's wrong with him. He's friends with you.
- 14:48Speaker 5: That's why we have a money. He always has the
- 14:50Speaker 5: worst interviews, So it's your fault, Jim.
- 14:52Speaker 6: It's all your fault that he's like the way he is. No,
- 14:55Speaker 6: we love Matt Arnold.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Big second half of the season coming up. There might
- 14:58Speaker 1: be a hot ticket a while de series a sold

- 15:58Speaker 5: I got to go to a different team close to
- 15:59Speaker 5: their love to see Schoogle go to the Brewers too,
- 16:01Speaker 5: I think, or the Rays. I think either one would
- 16:03Speaker 5: be awesome to see him go there if he gets traded,
- 16:05Speaker 5: if Scott Harris decides to make that move. But my
- 16:08Speaker 5: team that I'd always like to talk about, it's in
- 16:10Speaker 5: first place, the White Sox. Right, we just had Bob
- 16:12Speaker 5: maightingale On and he said he doesn't think they're going
- 16:14Speaker 5: to do a whole lot because they don't want a
- 16:16Speaker 5: mortgage the future. You recently said they're going to bye
- 16:18Speaker 5: bye bye. So which one is it? Which one of
- 16:20Speaker 5: you insiders Jim is going to be correct? Am I
- 16:23Speaker 5: going to be happy with you? Or am I going
- 16:25Speaker 5: to be sad with Bob?
- 16:27Speaker 2: Well?
- 16:27Speaker 3: I mean, first of all, you know, I can't make
- 16:30Speaker 3: the trades for Chris Getz, but I can definitely tell
- 16:32Speaker 3: you what Chris gets is doing without coming from sources.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I can promise you that he's got three things that
- 16:39Speaker 3: he's trying to do. He's trying to get a starting pitcher,
- 16:42Speaker 3: He's trying to get a catcher, and he's trying to
- 16:44Speaker 3: get a reliever, and he's out there doing those three things.
- 16:46Speaker 3: That's not guessing, that's not conjecture, that's just facts that's
- 16:50Speaker 3: been confirmed by both the White Sox front office as
- 16:53Speaker 3: well as opposing GM So I know exactly what he's
- 16:56Speaker 3: trying to do. Now, just because you're trying to do
- 16:58Speaker 3: it doesn't mean you're going to be able to.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Make the deals.
- 17:01Speaker 3: But you know, the White Sox do have a very
- 17:03Speaker 3: deep farm system and they have enough to make trades. Now,
- 17:06Speaker 3: do I think he's going to be able to get
- 17:08Speaker 3: all three things that he's searching for. No, that normally
- 17:11Speaker 3: doesn't happen. But I also will tell you clearly, I
- 17:14Speaker 3: do not expect him to be inactive. He knows he
- 17:17Speaker 3: can win this division. He's gonna finish the job. I
- 17:19Speaker 3: have confidence in Chris Gatz, So at the end of
- 17:22Speaker 3: the day, you'll be happy with me.
- 17:23Speaker 2: At six o'clock on Monday.
- 17:26Speaker 4: What level catcher is Chris gets going for with uncertainty
- 17:31Speaker 4: of when Kyle Thial's coming back.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Well, Teal is a long term catcher, so you know
- 17:36Speaker 3: we're not looking for a frontline catcher. So we're talking
- 17:39Speaker 3: about maybe Lewis Torrens the of the New York Mets.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Maybe it's Leam Hicks of the Miami Marlins. Maybe it's
- 17:45Speaker 3: Brandon Valenzuela or the Toronto Blue Jays. Maybe it's Caba
- 17:48Speaker 3: Ruiz of the Washington Nationals. Maybe it's Tyler Stevenson of
- 17:52Speaker 3: the Cincinnati Reds. Look, we're not talking about a star player.
- 17:55Speaker 3: I think you know, we'd love to get Francisco Alvarez,
- 17:57Speaker 3: but he's not going to give up what it takes
- 17:59Speaker 3: to get an Alvarez when he's got Kyle Teal eventually
- 18:01Speaker 3: going to be his catcher there. So you know, we're
- 18:03Speaker 3: talking about an upgrade a catcher in terms of depth.
- 18:06Speaker 3: So I think you're looking at those type of names
- 18:08Speaker 3: and not more. I'm not talking about the Hunter Goodman's right,
- 18:11Speaker 3: I'm not talking about the Adley Rutchmans. I'm talking about
- 18:13Speaker 3: those kind of names, and I do think Liam Hicks
- 18:15Speaker 3: would be a good fit. Look, I know he's not
- 18:17Speaker 3: a great defensive catcher. I get that, but he can
- 18:20Speaker 3: swing the pole and he would certainly help offensively at
- 18:22Speaker 3: that position for the White Sox. Also can DH and
- 18:25Speaker 3: also can play some first base as well. So I
- 18:27Speaker 3: think that'd be a really good fit. I like what
- 18:29Speaker 3: I saw with Vealezuela when Alejandro Kirk was out. I
- 18:31Speaker 3: think that would be a nice little pickup for the
- 18:33Speaker 3: White Sox as well. So I think that's the kind
- 18:35Speaker 3: of the group of catchers that you're looking at all.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Right, Well, then, Jim, I mean I'd be excited with
- 18:40Speaker 5: all those But a lot of those guys consider themselves stars.
- 18:42Speaker 5: And what did Blue Jays make that decision? Will it
- 18:46Speaker 5: be Valenzuela over Kirk? Is that what you're hearing? More?
- 18:50Speaker 6: Because I asked this question the other day, which one
- 18:52Speaker 6: of them?
- 18:53Speaker 5: What they move?
- 18:54Speaker 6: You think he'd rather keep Kirk?
- 18:56Speaker 2: Yes? I do? Yeah?
- 18:58Speaker 6: Is that because he's locked up long term?
- 19:01Speaker 3: I didn't ask why. That's just the impression that I got.
- 19:04Speaker 3: It's Kirk over Valezuela.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Okay, that's that's fair. And then what about Hunter Goodman?
- 19:09Speaker 5: Have you heard anything on Hunter Goodman? Because he's also
- 19:11Speaker 5: a name that's been bandied about.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, look, I don't know if I haven't
- 19:16Speaker 3: heard any tractionable minimum of the deal actually getting done,
- 19:18Speaker 3: but they will listen on Goodman, and look, they don't
- 19:21Speaker 3: want to trade Goodman. Is the only All Star of
- 19:23Speaker 3: the last two years. He's got thirty home runs. He's
- 19:25Speaker 3: a star player. But you have to also understand that
- 19:28Speaker 3: if you can trade him and get four pieces back
- 19:31Speaker 3: that can help build your franchise, you have to do it.
- 19:33Speaker 3: They don't have a lot of assets to rebuild this team.
- 19:35Speaker 3: So outside of drafting international, you know, amateur players, how
- 19:40Speaker 3: is she going to do it? You have limited funds
- 19:42Speaker 3: and free agencies. You don't play there. You don't have
- 19:44Speaker 3: a lot to trade. So at the end of the day,
- 19:46Speaker 3: if you trade your star player and turn them into
- 19:48Speaker 3: four players, that's where it makes sense. So you know,
- 19:51Speaker 3: do they have that kind of offer on the table. No,
- 19:54Speaker 3: But will they listen, Yes, they are listening.
- 19:57Speaker 4: Is this the time of the year as a GM
- 20:00Speaker 4: that you would go to your star player with an
- 20:03Speaker 4: extension and then they turn it down and you say, okay,
- 20:07Speaker 4: as an organization, we feel like it's time to move you.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Yeah, one hundred percent. I mean, look, we had this discussion.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Let's just go back to the Tigers again. You've got
- 20:14Speaker 3: schoobl and Casey myz now I said in the offseason
- 20:18Speaker 3: you got to sign them to long term deals or
- 20:20Speaker 3: trade them and they didn't do it. Okay, why because
- 20:23Speaker 3: they think they could win this year and then if
- 20:26Speaker 3: they walk, they walk, But we want so. Now we're
- 20:27Speaker 3: sitting here at the trade deadline. The Tigers are three
- 20:30Speaker 3: and a half out in the wildcard, They're five out
- 20:32Speaker 3: in the division. Now they're at the same situation. Are
- 20:34Speaker 3: you gonna sign them long term? Are you gonna hold
- 20:36Speaker 3: them and lose and just get draft picks, or are
- 20:38Speaker 3: you gonna trade them and rebuild and throw the towel
- 20:40Speaker 3: in like They've got to make that decision by Monday
- 20:43Speaker 3: at six o'clock.
- 20:44Speaker 2: But there is no doubt.
- 20:45Speaker 3: If I have an expiring contract and I like the
- 20:49Speaker 3: player and I want the player, I'm going to that
- 20:51Speaker 3: player right now and his agent and I'm making one
- 20:54Speaker 3: last ditch to extend them. And I'm gonna tell them
- 20:57Speaker 3: if you don't extend, we're probably gonna trade you.
- 20:59Speaker 2: I'm gonna be is very honest with them.
- 21:01Speaker 3: And then if they come back and say, look, I'm
- 21:03Speaker 3: not signing, I'm getting to free agency, Okay, fine, then
- 21:05Speaker 3: you understand.
- 21:06Speaker 2: I've got to do what I've got to do.
- 21:07Speaker 3: But look, if I trade you, I want you to
- 21:09Speaker 3: know that I want you to come calling back in
- 21:12Speaker 3: November because we want you. We're only trading you because
- 21:14Speaker 3: I can't let you walk somewhere else and just get
- 21:16Speaker 3: a draft pick. And that's that's basically how you're supposed
- 21:19Speaker 3: to handle it, or should handle it.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Yeah, not every team does it the same way, Jim.
- 21:23Speaker 5: You know that, we know that, we know that that's
- 21:26Speaker 5: all works. Hey, anywhere I go in baseball these days,
- 21:31Speaker 5: all I hear about is analytics and data and exit
- 21:35Speaker 5: velocity and pitch grips and spin rates and all this
- 21:38Speaker 5: inverted vertical break and everything that you're hearing about. It
- 21:42Speaker 5: can all be found with rap Sodo. It can all
- 21:44Speaker 5: be delivered to any level baseball. And it is important
- 21:47Speaker 5: because it is always talked about.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, these are tools that are measured, and now
- 21:52Speaker 1: you can get those tools measured at say the high
- 21:54Speaker 1: school level. This is a big one for high school programs.
- 21:56Speaker 1: They can get one thousand dollars off rap Sodo Pro
- 21:58Speaker 1: two point zero and three point zero, making it easier
- 22:01Speaker 1: to bring pro level player development tools into your facility.
- 22:04Speaker 1: And it's not just baseball. Rahapsodo Softball is helping softball
- 22:08Speaker 1: players and coaches trained with the same data driven mindset
- 22:10Speaker 1: built specifically for their game. So whether you're building a
- 22:13Speaker 1: program developing players, we're just tired of guessing, go to
- 22:17Speaker 1: rapsodo dot com and learn more data wins. Rapsodo helps
- 22:20Speaker 1: you use it.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Did you?
- 22:22Speaker 5: I'm not even gonna consult your intelligence. I know you
- 22:24Speaker 5: saw what Bryce Harper said. I didn't have a problem
- 22:26Speaker 5: with what he said because it's what every player basically
- 22:28Speaker 5: says when they're in this situation. If you put a
- 22:31Speaker 5: microphone in twenty six players on every team that's in attention,
- 22:35Speaker 5: they'd be like, yeah, we need help. We'd love to
- 22:36Speaker 5: have another starter or another bat every team, every guy
- 22:39Speaker 5: that's competitive with say that, right. But the thing is
- 22:42Speaker 5: that Mattingly comes back, and I just I had forgotten
- 22:44Speaker 5: that Mattingly's son is the GM. So when Bryce says
- 22:48Speaker 5: we need more help, it's not I don't think it
- 22:50Speaker 5: was an intentional shot at Don Mattingly and his family,
- 22:52Speaker 5: But how do you handle that if you're the president
- 22:55Speaker 5: of Baseball ops, if you're Don Don Browski, you have
- 22:57Speaker 5: one of your best players and now your manager. And again,
- 23:00Speaker 5: I don't think either what either one what they said
- 23:02Speaker 5: was a big deal, but it's just odd timing.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Okay, so we all remember what Dave Dobrowski said about
- 23:09Speaker 3: Bryce Harper. That's not an elite player anymore, right, I
- 23:12Speaker 3: mean we remember that, right. Do I want my president
- 23:14Speaker 3: saying that about my player publicly? No, say it behind
- 23:17Speaker 3: the scenes. So if the president's allowed to say that,
- 23:20Speaker 3: the player's allowed to tell the truth, isn't he?
- 23:21Speaker 2: Bryce Harper didn't say anything we don't already know. Right?
- 23:25Speaker 3: This is a Stars and Scrubs team, right, This team
- 23:29Speaker 3: is built better for October than one hundred and sixty
- 23:31Speaker 3: two games, and they're trying to get there. They're o
- 23:34Speaker 3: and eleven when they're in the last eleven starts. By
- 23:37Speaker 3: their fifth starter, they're own eleven. I don't won a game.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Their fourth and fifth starters are five and twenty one
- 23:42Speaker 3: in their last twenty six games. Like, you might not
- 23:44Speaker 3: get to October if you don't fix this, Like you
- 23:48Speaker 3: need a back of rotation started to get there. When
- 23:50Speaker 3: you get there, you can go with a three man
- 23:52Speaker 3: rotation and maybe you run the table great, or maybe
- 23:54Speaker 3: Andrew Painter throws better, comes back up and holds his own.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Maybe Aaron Nola's starts to throw better, but I doubt it. So, yeah,
- 24:02Speaker 3: you need a starter. You don't have enough offense. We're
- 24:05Speaker 3: all watching the same thing in the outfield, aren't we?
- 24:07Speaker 3: Like you know, it's if Harper and Schwarber, Trey, Turner
- 24:11Speaker 3: and marsh aren't hitting, you're not scoring runs. So we
- 24:15Speaker 3: all need help. And I don't care if a player
- 24:17Speaker 3: says that's the truth. Everyone knows that, fans know it,
- 24:19Speaker 3: the media knows it. Dave knows it. But I think
- 24:22Speaker 3: Bryce saying it probably had something to do with what
- 24:25Speaker 3: Dave said about him. So if Dave wants to criticize
- 24:29Speaker 3: Bryce Harper as a player, why isn't it fair for
- 24:32Speaker 3: Bryce Harper to come back and say this team isn't
- 24:34Speaker 3: good enough. You're a future Hall of Fame executive.
- 24:37Speaker 2: We all know that.
- 24:38Speaker 3: But this team right here has holes it shouldn't have
- 24:41Speaker 3: in the back of the rotation, it has holes.
- 24:43Speaker 2: In the outfield.
- 24:44Speaker 3: We need a right hand hitter, We need another bat,
- 24:47Speaker 3: We need a deeper lineup, a deeper rotation, We need
- 24:49Speaker 3: another reliever. I have no problem. If the President's going
- 24:52Speaker 3: to criticize a player, why can't a player come back?
- 24:55Speaker 3: Both of them were being honest, right, Neither one was lying.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Neither one anything personally, but they both said what they
- 25:02Speaker 3: felt like professionally.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I'm okay with it.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I like them challenging each other a little bit.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I love what Bryce said, and also JB. Let's not
- 25:11Speaker 1: forget that this team made it to the World Series
- 25:14Speaker 1: several years ago at this point, and then they've had
- 25:15Speaker 1: some disappointment in the playoffs. I know, maybe nobody was
- 25:18Speaker 1: stopping what the Dodgers had this past postseason, but the
- 25:21Speaker 1: offense has looked top heavy at times, and then the
- 25:24Speaker 1: stars I don't want to say choke, but they don't
- 25:26Speaker 1: show up. And then all of a sudden, this team's
- 25:28Speaker 1: not scoring enough runs in the postseason. And then didn't
- 25:31Speaker 1: we have Bryce Harper's representation. Boris come out this past
- 25:35Speaker 1: offseason saying he need a little help. I don't remember
- 25:37Speaker 1: this offseason their last offseason, right, give him a little
- 25:39Speaker 1: more protection in the lineup. So you add all that up.
- 25:42Speaker 1: The one follow up I have on this is from
- 25:43Speaker 1: Don Mattingly's response. You've known him and covered him for years.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Done super nice. I would say, more of a low
- 25:48Speaker 1: key guy. So to me, what stood out was him saying,
- 25:51Speaker 1: guys want to be a GM for what you need
- 25:55Speaker 1: without a real understanding of where the organization is, exactly
- 25:58Speaker 1: where this thing goes, not only this year, but moving forward.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Players like being gms and making calls and spending other
- 26:03Speaker 1: people's money. I'll just let it go at that. My
- 26:07Speaker 1: comment was, that's a lot for Donnie. That's him taking
- 26:10Speaker 1: his big shot, saying, hey, I don't love what was
- 26:14Speaker 1: thrown out there just now.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Yeah, and look, as you said, his son is a
- 26:18Speaker 3: general manager, right, he'd like to keep his job. Dave
- 26:22Speaker 3: Dombrowski has a great relationship with Alex Cora. I called
- 26:25Speaker 3: him a future Hall of Fame manager. Alex Cora probably
- 26:28Speaker 3: is going to come back and manage next year. Don's
- 26:30Speaker 3: trying to keep his job. So for don to want
- 26:31Speaker 3: to protect his son and wanting to protect the guy
- 26:34Speaker 3: that's going to decide if he gets to come back
- 26:36Speaker 3: next year, I think I probably would have done the
- 26:38Speaker 3: same thing. So I don't have a problem with don
- 26:40Speaker 3: saying that. I also, you know, I always preferred when
- 26:44Speaker 3: I was a GM to have everybody stay in their lane, right,
- 26:46Speaker 3: I mean I kind of felt like I personally didn't
- 26:49Speaker 3: want to criticize a player publicly, you know, I let
- 26:52Speaker 3: the player do the best he can will help and
- 26:54Speaker 3: support every way we can to make him the best
- 26:56Speaker 3: he could be. But I don't want them publicly criticizing me.
- 26:59Speaker 3: I had no problem behind the scenes saying what you want.
- 27:02Speaker 3: But I was criticized by players some at times, one
- 27:06Speaker 3: and one time in particular, and look it was I
- 27:10Speaker 3: understood it.
- 27:10Speaker 2: The player was actually right. What am I going to say?
- 27:14Speaker 3: Like, sometimes the truth hurts, but it's okay if the
- 27:17Speaker 3: comments are fair, and you know, part of the problem
- 27:19Speaker 3: is that, you know, we have to understand too, the
- 27:22Speaker 3: Phillies farm system is worse than people think. And when
- 27:25Speaker 3: you're sitting there in the seat and you're trying to
- 27:27Speaker 3: make the team better and you don't have enough to trade,
- 27:30Speaker 3: it makes it hard.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Right, your two.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Best players, Andrew Paynter, you know, is not the same
- 27:36Speaker 3: since coming back from Tommy John, but you don't want
- 27:38Speaker 3: to give up on them because with the upside is
- 27:40Speaker 3: the number one starter he ever gets healthy and gets
- 27:43Speaker 3: back there. Next is Aiden Miller, your best position player,
- 27:46Speaker 3: and he's been hurt. After that, it drops off. You
- 27:49Speaker 3: don't have a lot, and so it's hard to compete.
- 27:51Speaker 3: It's hard to It's hard for both matting Lye and
- 27:54Speaker 3: Dombrowski to go out and make this team better. It's
- 27:56Speaker 3: challenging because other teams have better farm systems and you're
- 28:00Speaker 3: all chasing the same players. How are you going to
- 28:02Speaker 3: get them? I mean, let's just take even if they
- 28:04Speaker 3: wanted Schooble, just as an example, they don't have enough.
- 28:07Speaker 3: There's not even a conversation. It's dial tone that don't
- 28:10Speaker 3: waste your time. You don't have enough, but you're battling.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Even if you're battling, you know, Look, one of the
- 28:15Speaker 3: things they need is a right ending outfielder. Right, So
- 28:17Speaker 3: whether that be Lane Thomas or Lewis Robert, or Taylor
- 28:20Speaker 3: Ward or Teo Hernandez, whatever is going to be even
- 28:24Speaker 3: for a small piece like that. Seattle has more than
- 28:28Speaker 3: you do if that's what they want to right, If
- 28:30Speaker 3: they want Taylor Ward and the Phillies want them, Seattle's
- 28:33Speaker 3: going to get them.
- 28:34Speaker 2: You're not.
- 28:34Speaker 3: And so that's something you don't want to say publicly.
- 28:37Speaker 3: But at the same time, the players like Bryce Arper
- 28:40Speaker 3: probably doesn't really understand that part of it. It's not
- 28:43Speaker 3: as easy as oh, let's go kix that and snap
- 28:45Speaker 3: our fingers.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Yeah, great point about the farm system. That's a real problem.
- 28:50Speaker 1: They can't swim in the deep end the same way
- 28:51Speaker 1: as others can. Right now, Okay, last part, and I'm
- 28:55Speaker 1: very curious on this one for you, all right, poor
- 28:58Speaker 1: Curtis Mead, Oh my goodness, I mean, the Red Sox
- 29:01Speaker 1: make this deal and it's the first game back, and
- 29:04Speaker 1: he sounds like a great kid and an awesome story,
- 29:07Speaker 1: and Boston does something that's maybe a little bit more
- 29:10Speaker 1: outside the lines compared to what they would usually do
- 29:13Speaker 1: in terms of player evaluation. Craig Bresloy even said that,
- 29:15Speaker 1: and I gave him credit. He's like, Hey, everyone evaluates
- 29:18Speaker 1: the same way on the same system. Now for us,
- 29:19Speaker 1: we just had a need.
- 29:20Speaker 2: We like this guy.
- 29:21Speaker 1: Here he comes and he could miss the entire season.
- 29:24Speaker 1: So thoughts on this and also what's next for Red
- 29:27Speaker 1: Sox scene that basically has to go back to the
- 29:28Speaker 1: drawing board JB and say, we again need a right
- 29:31Speaker 1: handed hitting infielder.
- 29:34Speaker 3: Yeah, so just stay on the phone with John mozay
- 29:37Speaker 3: loock until you get zag Natto. Just don't hang up
- 29:39Speaker 3: the phone and just keep working him over and over
- 29:43Speaker 3: again and just try to find a way. That's the pivot,
- 29:46Speaker 3: that's where you got to go, you know, in terms
- 29:49Speaker 3: of the Curtis Mead, Yeah, I mean I wrote this
- 29:51Speaker 3: at the Athletic and was very clear on GM territory
- 29:55Speaker 3: as well that the Washington Nationals won that trade.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:59Speaker 3: But as theo Epstein said many years ago, the job
- 30:03Speaker 3: isn't to win trades. It's to win championships. It's to
- 30:05Speaker 3: win games. You can make a bad trade. If you
- 30:09Speaker 3: make a bad trade and it wins and you win,
- 30:11Speaker 3: I mean that's what you're trying to do, is win.
- 30:13Speaker 2: So yeah, they made a bad trade.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Sure, I'll take the Conley early side all day long
- 30:19Speaker 3: versus Curtis me who's only done it for four months.
- 30:21Speaker 3: But that being said, they had a huge need since
- 30:25Speaker 3: Bregmant left. They got a guy that has finally made adjustment.
- 30:27Speaker 3: Looks like he's breaking out if they believe that it's real,
- 30:31Speaker 3: and he's got nineteen home runs. If you want to overpay,
- 30:35Speaker 3: you do it. I mean, it is not easy to
- 30:37Speaker 3: get a right hand hitter, as the Phillies ask the Mariners.
- 30:39Speaker 3: I mean they're not Red Sox aren't the only team
- 30:42Speaker 3: trying to get it.
- 30:42Speaker 2: They're not there.
- 30:43Speaker 3: So they decided to overpay with a starting pitcher with
- 30:46Speaker 3: less than a year service time, who is a mid rotation,
- 30:50Speaker 3: solid guy that's going to be one hundred and eighty
- 30:52Speaker 3: innings South Paw for years to come. They're overpaid, I
- 30:55Speaker 3: get it, but they got the piece they felt they need,
- 30:58Speaker 3: So I don't criticize. I don't size him for pulling
- 31:01Speaker 3: the trigger, and I credit him like you do, for
- 31:03Speaker 3: being giving an honest assessment that they were paid.
- 31:06Speaker 2: And that's okay.
- 31:07Speaker 3: But now you just take you, pick up your big
- 31:09Speaker 3: boy pants, roll up your sleeves, don't cry, don't worry
- 31:12Speaker 3: about it. You can't control injuries. It's part of the game.
- 31:15Speaker 3: And then go to the next trade. And again, John
- 31:17Speaker 3: Mozelex got your guy. You're not getting Jeremy Paanya. You're
- 31:21Speaker 3: not getting CJ. Abrams. You can try. You're not getting
- 31:23Speaker 3: La day of the cruise you you can try. But
- 31:26Speaker 3: Neto you probably can get. So just make that your
- 31:29Speaker 3: focus and just if you have to get on, get
- 31:33Speaker 3: on one of John Henry's planes and fly out to
- 31:35Speaker 3: Anaheim and just go to Newport. You know there's so
- 31:39Speaker 3: many great restaurants there and just hang out with John. Right,
- 31:43Speaker 3: buy him a nice pair of those ugly socks that
- 31:45Speaker 3: he wears as a president, give it to him and
- 31:48Speaker 3: just stay there and get in netto.
- 31:51Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, you can whine, dine and eventually hopefully
- 31:55Speaker 1: get your guy, JB. We love having you on Great Insight.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Thank you talk Jisson
