- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the bench with Jacob Hester.
- 0:02Speaker 2: And Matt Flynn.
- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to a natty to carrying each
- 0:10Speaker 1: other on the air. Live from the Raising Cane studio.
- 0:19Speaker 1: It's off the bench.
- 0:31Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Now we're number three of OTB. Jake Flynn, Alondra Tate,
- 0:35Speaker 3: all here with you inside the Razor Cane studio.
- 0:37Speaker 4: It is Tuesday. It is 9 a.m.
- 0:39Speaker 3: It's time to talk a little New Orleans Saints with
- 0:41Speaker 3: our guy Nick Underhill, NewOrleans.football, who joins us now.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Nicholas, always a pleasure. Hope you're doing well, sir.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I'm great. How are you guys doing?
- 0:49Speaker 4: Doing great. How about that?
- 0:52Speaker 3: A road victory against one of the better teams in
- 0:55Speaker 3: the NFL. You got down again. You didn't care. You
- 0:57Speaker 3: didn't blink. You found a way and Man, I tell
- 1:01Speaker 3: you what, this team, and look, I know we get
- 1:03Speaker 3: some injuries. We'll talk about all that stuff, but we're
- 1:05Speaker 3: starting off on a positive note. I tell you what,
- 1:07Speaker 3: this team has shown that they are going to fight.
- 1:10Speaker 3: They're going to fight for a full 60 minutes, and
- 1:12Speaker 3: they are a playaway, literally a playaway, from being 2-0
- 1:16Speaker 3: and maybe have like the toughest task to open up
- 1:19Speaker 3: a season going on the road to Detroit and to Baltimore,
- 1:22Speaker 3: and now you finally get back home to the Superdome.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Yeah, they might be like, favored in their next six
- 1:29Speaker 5: or seven games, honestly, and especially if this Jackson Dart
- 1:32Speaker 5: injury is a thing. That would be a game where
- 1:34Speaker 5: you maybe pause and say, I wonder which way this
- 1:36Speaker 5: was going to go. They might be favored in every
- 1:40Speaker 5: game going all the way out to Cincinnati in November.
- 1:43Speaker 5: I'm not saying they're going to win all of them,
- 1:45Speaker 5: but I think that they're probably going to be favored
- 1:47Speaker 5: in most of those games. They're in a great spot.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Extremely weird team to figure out, though, right now. All
- 1:55Speaker 5: the most difficult things they are excellent at and all
- 1:58Speaker 5: the easy things they're, they're not good at.
- 2:01Speaker 2: So it's like, they got the hard part down.
- 2:03Speaker 5: So you feel really optimistic about it, but like at
- 2:05Speaker 5: some point you got to gain three yards on a
- 2:07Speaker 5: first down and the average can't be 2.2 yards. But
- 2:11Speaker 5: you know, Tyler packs that Cape every week, man. Like
- 2:15Speaker 5: it's kind of crazy to watch and see how they're,
- 2:18Speaker 5: they're playing. And you know, I think it's, it'd probably
- 2:21Speaker 5: be hilarious to read like every Saints fans first half text.
- 2:24Speaker 5: And then the second half text, like, It's literally like
- 2:27Speaker 5: first half is like, oh, my God, what's going on here?
- 2:29Speaker 2: This doesn't you know, this isn't going to work. It's over.
- 2:33Speaker 5: And then second half comes and it's not even like
- 2:35Speaker 5: immediately second half. It's like the third drive of the
- 2:37Speaker 5: second half. Every game they turn it around. Very, very
- 2:41Speaker 5: strange team. But yeah, I mean, look, their fight, their togetherness,
- 2:45Speaker 5: all that stuff. You know, we joke about. the bowling
- 2:48Speaker 5: trips and the fishing trips and the paintball trips.
- 2:51Speaker 2: But like, I think all that stuff shows up, man.
- 2:53Speaker 5: I think they're like actually a close team and that,
- 2:55Speaker 5: that propels you in some of these moments. Um, so yeah, um, I,
- 2:59Speaker 5: I have no idea what they're gonna do in the
- 3:01Speaker 5: first half of this game, but they need to start
- 3:03Speaker 5: playing fast at some point, but it's working right now.
- 3:06Speaker 6: Like you're saying like they, they could be potentially be
- 3:09Speaker 6: favored through like into the month of November when the
- 3:12Speaker 6: first two weeks they weren't even within a, a touchdown, uh,
- 3:16Speaker 6: in Vegas.
- 3:17Speaker 7: With their opponents. So it's pretty wild turnaround.
- 3:19Speaker 6: And it kind of just shows you how tough their
- 3:21Speaker 6: season started out with those first two games.
- 3:23Speaker 7: So to split them is, is absolutely incredible.
- 3:26Speaker 6: My question for you is the, a lot's been kind
- 3:29Speaker 6: of said about the defensive coordinator for the Ravens saying
- 3:33Speaker 6: poor man, Josh Allen to Tyler Shuck, where everybody in
- 3:37Speaker 6: the world, everybody in America knew it. He said it
- 3:40Speaker 6: as a compliment. Like that's a, that's a compliment, but
- 3:43Speaker 6: Talk about the spin zone done down there and in
- 3:46Speaker 6: new Orleans to, to shuck all week.
- 3:49Speaker 5: I mean, look, man, you, you, you know, you know
- 3:51Speaker 5: how athletes are wired. Like, like anyone competitive, if you
- 3:54Speaker 5: can find a little slight in things, I'm a, I'm a,
- 3:57Speaker 5: I'm a petty, dirty fuel guy, man. Like people can
- 3:59Speaker 5: say something complimentary and it's like, what do you mean?
- 4:01Speaker 5: You're surprised I did so well.
- 4:03Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 4:04Speaker 5: You're surprised my, my business is working. And it's like,
- 4:07Speaker 5: you know, they mean it as a compliment, but to
- 4:09Speaker 5: kind of get that extra fuel, sometimes you gotta, you
- 4:11Speaker 5: gotta spin it a little bit. Um, You know, so yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 5: he definitely meant it in a complimentary way. Like anytime
- 4:16Speaker 5: you're saying a quarterback's name in a sentence with Josh Allen,
- 4:20Speaker 5: but you know, if you want to spin it, it's
- 4:22Speaker 5: kind of like, hey, you could pour yourself a bowl
- 4:24Speaker 5: of fruit rounds in the morning, but they.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Aren't fruit loops, you know?
- 4:27Speaker 5: Like, so you're kind of calling them, you know, great value,
- 4:30Speaker 5: great value fruit loops. So, I mean, yeah, I don't
- 4:34Speaker 5: think he actually took it like a certain type of way,
- 4:36Speaker 5: but anytime that stuff can be spun, like people are
- 4:39Speaker 5: always going to spin it and they're going to find
- 4:41Speaker 5: a problem with it. We had a clip go out.
- 4:43Speaker 5: It was like the most, like, it seemed like the
- 4:45Speaker 5: most benign thing. Carl Granderson said, Hey, we need to
- 4:49Speaker 5: try to keep Lamar Jackson in the pocket this week,
- 4:51Speaker 5: which he's just saying the guy's an elite runner. And
- 4:54Speaker 5: it ended up with like 1.5 million views of like
- 4:57Speaker 5: people just pissed off. Like as if Carl Granderson had
- 5:00Speaker 5: insulted Lamar Jackson. So that's just kind of the world
- 5:03Speaker 5: we live in. And it's like, man, he didn't mean
- 5:05Speaker 5: anything bad. I don't think Anthony Weaver meant anything negative
- 5:08Speaker 5: at all. But you know, anytime you say the word
- 5:11Speaker 5: poor man, like, That's usually a little bit of a
- 5:14Speaker 5: backhanded compliment.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Look, as players, we all have an ego to some extent.
- 5:19Speaker 3: You have to be a professional football player or any
- 5:21Speaker 3: professional sports, MLB, NBA, doesn't matter. I feel like you
- 5:25Speaker 3: have to have some of it. And so, yeah. Look,
- 5:27Speaker 3: if somebody called me a great value Mike Allstott, I
- 5:30Speaker 3: would take it as a compliment inside, but I'd have
- 5:32Speaker 3: to be also pissed off as well.
- 5:34Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 5:35Speaker 7: Absolutely.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I'm still going to be fired up and be like,
- 5:37Speaker 3: what do you mean poor man? Or great value? No.
- 5:40Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Although it would be true, he's still got to use
- 5:42Speaker 4: his motivation.
- 5:44Speaker 2: No doubt about it, yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 5: I mean, it's just the world that they live in. Look,
- 5:47Speaker 5: he's silenced on a lot of that stuff right now.
- 5:51Speaker 5: If you went through a list of the quarterbacks, I
- 5:53Speaker 5: don't know, top 12 right now probably? He's got to
- 5:59Speaker 5: be above your boy Herbert.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Oh, no doubt. No doubt right now.
- 6:03Speaker 2: He's got to be above golf right now.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Like, so I don't know, like there's a, there's a list,
- 6:08Speaker 5: like he's there and going to Matt's point about Vegas.
- 6:10Speaker 3: He's leading the NFL in passing yards right now.
- 6:13Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Like to Matt's point about Vegas, like I think people
- 6:16Speaker 5: just didn't fully believe, but look, I think it helps
- 6:19Speaker 5: that Chris Olave is playing, I think at a different
- 6:22Speaker 5: level right now, the way he's kind of attacking the
- 6:23Speaker 5: ball is different than I think we've seen throughout his career.
- 6:27Speaker 5: Maybe getting that contract, you know, sometimes it can affect
- 6:30Speaker 5: people negatively. I think In this case, maybe it gave
- 6:32Speaker 5: him the security to kind of just play completely free.
- 6:35Speaker 5: I think that's been a huge thing. Juwan's on a
- 6:37Speaker 5: different level. Like, not just the way they fight for
- 6:40Speaker 5: the quarterback. Like, they actually fight for the quarterback, too. So,
- 6:43Speaker 5: you know, I think all that stuff, man, it just
- 6:47Speaker 5: feels actually different this time.
- 6:49Speaker 2: We'll see. I mean, I think they need to get
- 6:50Speaker 2: a home win here.
- 6:51Speaker 5: But it's going to be the first time in a
- 6:53Speaker 5: long time that I think, like, the dome is actually back.
- 6:56Speaker 5: It's been a while since there's been, like, a real
- 6:58Speaker 5: atmosphere in there. they beat Vegas. Um, you know, I
- 7:00Speaker 5: think people are going to be bought all the way in.
- 7:02Speaker 5: I was thinking about it right before I came on.
- 7:04Speaker 5: I think 21 was the last time where I think,
- 7:07Speaker 5: and look like Jameis is what he is, but I
- 7:09Speaker 5: think that was the last time people were actually like
- 7:11Speaker 5: a line behind the coach and quarterback, but they played
- 7:13Speaker 5: three games on the road because of the hurricane. They
- 7:16Speaker 5: came back to last week, four to the giants. Next
- 7:18Speaker 5: time they were back in the dome, Jameis got hurt.
- 7:21Speaker 5: I think this is like, and then Trevor Simeon is
- 7:23Speaker 5: your quarterback. I think this might be the first time
- 7:25Speaker 5: in a while that, um, If they win a game,
- 7:28Speaker 5: people are actually showing up excited, bought in, like the coach,
- 7:31Speaker 5: like the quarterback. Teams actually went in. So maybe it's
- 7:36Speaker 5: starting to come back a little bit.
- 7:38Speaker 6: Nick, Alvin Kamara had 14 touches for 22 yards. I
- 7:43Speaker 6: love him, but do you expect that to continue, or
- 7:46Speaker 6: do you expect that his opportunities go down?
- 7:50Speaker 2: I think they've got to have a better run plan
- 7:52Speaker 2: in general.
- 7:53Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 5: Like, so every time Alvin was out there, like he,
- 7:57Speaker 5: he faced seven men in the box was running between
- 7:59Speaker 5: the tackles. Um, he gained 18 yards after contact and
- 8:03Speaker 5: only had 15 yards rushing.
- 8:05Speaker 2: That's not necessarily an AK problem. Uh, you know, and
- 8:08Speaker 2: then I.
- 8:09Speaker 5: Think they had 15 to 18 snaps under center where
- 8:13Speaker 5: they ran outside zone. And then like the other ones
- 8:15Speaker 5: were playing, like there were, there were some nasty tells
- 8:17Speaker 5: in their run game this week that I think they
- 8:19Speaker 5: need to clean up. Um, He's got to be better. Like,
- 8:23Speaker 5: he shouldn't have more carries than A-Chan, though.
- 8:25Speaker 2: No, he shouldn't. I don't agree with that.
- 8:29Speaker 5: I wonder if, like, the toss kind of made him
- 8:31Speaker 5: move off of A-Chan a little bit there. The second one, C.J.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Donaldson's motion kind of caused that weird aborted toss play.
- 8:37Speaker 5: First one, though, like, I wondered if that fumble kind
- 8:39Speaker 5: of played a part. Callan said it didn't. I don't
- 8:41Speaker 5: know if I believe him. Because, like, in no way
- 8:45Speaker 5: should you end the end of the game— I think
- 8:48Speaker 5: there's a role for Alvin. I think some of the
- 8:49Speaker 5: two back stuff they were trying to do will work
- 8:51Speaker 5: at some point. You know, I think part of the
- 8:53Speaker 5: run game being trashed the first two weeks is also
- 8:56Speaker 5: playing two good teams and we'll see what opens up
- 8:59Speaker 5: over the next two weeks. But yeah, I mean, I
- 9:02Speaker 5: think a Alvin's got to be better. B they got
- 9:03Speaker 5: to have a better run plan. See like that distribution
- 9:06Speaker 5: doesn't make sense to me at all. Like if, if
- 9:08Speaker 5: that's the guy, like he should be, he should be
- 9:11Speaker 5: the guy.
- 9:11Speaker 2: He should be getting way more carries.
- 9:13Speaker 6: And if you're facing seven man boxes like that, a
- 9:16Speaker 6: chance should be your guide. running that ball. Like that's
- 9:19Speaker 6: not Kamara's game, right? Like you need, you need to
- 9:21Speaker 6: get out in space. You need, cause he's going to
- 9:23Speaker 6: have packages throughout the year. Kamara is going to have
- 9:26Speaker 6: his moments this season, but he doesn't need to be
- 9:28Speaker 6: the leading carrier in the game.
- 9:30Speaker 5: No, I have to know a hundred percent agree with that. Like, and,
- 9:33Speaker 5: and you know, there is country Miller there too. Like you,
- 9:37Speaker 5: you gotta, you gotta be making positive plays, man. Like
- 9:39Speaker 5: I'm pro the idea of AK. Like I think he
- 9:42Speaker 5: can open up your office. I think there's a lot
- 9:43Speaker 5: of stuff you can do. With both those guys. But yeah,
- 9:46Speaker 5: I mean, like.
- 9:47Speaker 2: The the the plays got to be there.
- 9:51Speaker 5: But man, it's like this run game is like it's
- 9:54Speaker 5: bad going, you know, and this isn't like a new
- 9:56Speaker 5: like they really badly have to figure some things out here.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Cause like, it's not coming together. It's not Marion.
- 10:02Speaker 5: And I don't think it's a coincidence that they start
- 10:05Speaker 5: playing well when it's like, well, like we got to
- 10:07Speaker 5: give up on the run game now. Like, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 5: this is kind of like that's when the game starts
- 10:12Speaker 5: opening up for them and it needs to be the opposite.
- 10:14Speaker 5: They need to be, you know, making it easier. The
- 10:16Speaker 5: play actions need to make sense off of it. Yeah. But, man, like,
- 10:20Speaker 5: there are some legitimate, very nasty tells in this game that, like,
- 10:24Speaker 5: they can't carry over to next week. Like, based on personnel,
- 10:27Speaker 5: based on, like, alignment, based on formation, some of the
- 10:30Speaker 5: stuff was really ugly. Like, you look at it, it's like,
- 10:32Speaker 5: how is this playing out like this? You know, so
- 10:35Speaker 5: I think there needs to be something that has to
- 10:37Speaker 5: come together quick in that area. Way too much investment
- 10:40Speaker 5: in the run game for it to not be working
- 10:42Speaker 5: at all.
- 10:42Speaker 7: Nick, you know, second half shucked, huh, man? We don't
- 10:44Speaker 7: need to run the ball. Yeah.
- 10:48Speaker 3: It'd be nice for some help as well catching up
- 10:50Speaker 3: with a guy nick underhill new orleans dot football talking
- 10:53Speaker 3: new orleans saints and it's it's chris alave for sure
- 10:57Speaker 3: chris alave and gosh that red zone touchdown was such
- 11:00Speaker 3: a beautiful route i mean he doesn't run full speed
- 11:02Speaker 3: because he knows he doesn't have to he knows what
- 11:04Speaker 3: the concept is he knows where he's going to fit
- 11:06Speaker 3: in the window but it's not just chris alave it's
- 11:08Speaker 3: juwan johnson it's devon vele they've stepped their game up
- 11:12Speaker 3: too i think Jawan Johnson, since Tyler Shuck has become
- 11:16Speaker 3: the quarterback is a completely different player. Like I think
- 11:19Speaker 3: he has elevated his play more than anybody on this
- 11:21Speaker 3: Saints team since Tyler Shuck has been the quarterback, but
- 11:24Speaker 3: Devon Bailey went healthy. Like now you get why you
- 11:27Speaker 3: trade draft picks for that guy.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 2: All three of them.
- 11:32Speaker 5: I think you really see like an elevation based on
- 11:35Speaker 5: the quarterback because he throws us the anticipation. And I
- 11:38Speaker 5: don't know that, you know, Chris was probably never really
- 11:42Speaker 5: had that consistently throughout his career. Like Derek Carr did
- 11:45Speaker 5: a little bit, but the chemistry wasn't quite there. Vele
- 11:49Speaker 5: was doing nothing. And then you get, you know, Chuck
- 11:51Speaker 5: throwing early with timing. I had it like it opens
- 11:54Speaker 5: him up like tight window, you know, players, same thing
- 11:57Speaker 5: with what you want, like a guy willing to rip
- 11:58Speaker 5: them seams and some different stuff.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I think you see it with all of them like that.
- 12:03Speaker 5: That's why I like, I just think Vegas was asleep.
- 12:07Speaker 5: And you know, as we're talking about ranking quarterbacks, like he's,
- 12:10Speaker 5: he's actually a win because quarterback. And I think there's
- 12:13Speaker 5: probably also something with him. Like we put a lot
- 12:15Speaker 5: of it on Kellen for the first half. I think
- 12:17Speaker 5: there's also something with, with, with Tyler where he's a
- 12:19Speaker 5: slow starter. I think it is the coach's job to
- 12:21Speaker 5: find the answers to allow him to get going faster.
- 12:24Speaker 5: So like he isn't without fault in some of the
- 12:27Speaker 5: early game stuff too, but he, I think he's shown
- 12:29Speaker 5: consistently since week nine last year, you win games because
- 12:32Speaker 5: of him. It's insane how good, he is with Bailey on,
- 12:37Speaker 5: on these third downs. Juwan, I think like his after
- 12:39Speaker 5: catch ability is, and this isn't saying much, like it's
- 12:42Speaker 5: by far the best on the team. Like, but like
- 12:44Speaker 5: Chris doesn't really give you anything after the catch. Like
- 12:47Speaker 5: Bailey's way too much of a tight window player to
- 12:49Speaker 5: actually have room to make plays after the catch. But
- 12:51Speaker 5: like Juwan after catch ability is, is really good. And
- 12:54Speaker 5: it was highly impressive, uh, in this game. Um, Yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 5: I think all those guys, man. The crazy thing is
- 13:00Speaker 5: that the guy they drafted with the eighth pick in
- 13:01Speaker 5: the draft isn't on the field right now, and we
- 13:03Speaker 5: feel this good about the offense.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Like, it doesn't really feel like anything's missing right now.
- 13:07Speaker 5: So, like, the level of additive of that, I think,
- 13:10Speaker 5: is going to be crazy.
- 13:11Speaker 2: And, you know, I think it'll help with some of
- 13:13Speaker 2: the stuff.
- 13:14Speaker 5: Like, the first half of this game, they were playing some,
- 13:15Speaker 5: you know, coverages that was limiting Chris, and they started
- 13:18Speaker 5: moving him into the slot, got him off Humphrey, started
- 13:21Speaker 5: layering things a little bit differently, and it got him going.
- 13:23Speaker 5: But I think just, like, Jordan Tyson's presence– is going
- 13:26Speaker 5: to help with some of that. Or if they're just
- 13:28Speaker 5: taking away Chris, you have another killer on the other
- 13:30Speaker 5: side of the field, the other side of the formation
- 13:32Speaker 5: that can take advantage of, you know, some softer stuff too. So,
- 13:36Speaker 5: you know, the sky's the limit for this, this offense,
- 13:38Speaker 5: which is like the number one passing offense in the
- 13:40Speaker 5: league right now. So it's going to be exciting to
- 13:43Speaker 5: see how that kind of all comes together.
- 13:46Speaker 2: And I.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Don't want to oversell them, but I mean, like, you know,
- 13:51Speaker 5: we were talking about them all training camp. I don't
- 13:53Speaker 5: think there was, a more impressive player on the field
- 13:56Speaker 5: and training camp than him. And like, I think the
- 13:58Speaker 5: ways that Jordan Tyson will fill in, I'll just open up.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Cause like he's similar to Chris in the right ways
- 14:03Speaker 5: and different from him in the right ways too. And I,
- 14:05Speaker 5: you know, he's an after catch guy. He's a, he's
- 14:08Speaker 5: a catch a slant and turn it up the field
- 14:09Speaker 5: type of player crossing out. Like he's way more physical
- 14:12Speaker 5: than I think people are expecting them to be. And
- 14:16Speaker 5: I think he just kind of fills in some of
- 14:17Speaker 5: those areas where they don't have necessarily the, elite play
- 14:21Speaker 5: right now. And I think he just fills out the, the,
- 14:24Speaker 5: the field in all quadrants. So, um, man, that's two
- 14:27Speaker 5: weeks away before the game. Um, he was out there
- 14:30Speaker 5: and I, I don't know how to evaluate this, but
- 14:34Speaker 5: he ran off the field at a pace that I
- 14:37Speaker 5: would say was elevated from a jog.
- 14:39Speaker 2: It wasn't like a sprint.
- 14:42Speaker 5: It wasn't a job, but it was like, It was like, oh, wait,
- 14:44Speaker 5: he's not just.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Like, you know, it was high knees. Like, he was running. Like,
- 14:48Speaker 2: he ran off the field. It was like Jake's top speed. Yeah.
- 14:54Speaker 5: It made me think, you know, like, two more weeks. Like,
- 14:56Speaker 5: that's what he's got to be out for. It doesn't
- 14:58Speaker 5: seem like he's that far off. I don't want to, like,
- 14:59Speaker 5: guess at that. But he doesn't look like a guy that's, like,
- 15:03Speaker 5: super hurt. Locker room, they got, like, a mini hoop.
- 15:06Speaker 5: He's shooting hoops, moving around, getting rebounds. He doesn't look
- 15:10Speaker 5: like he's super injured.
- 15:12Speaker 6: Okay, so I didn't miss the timelines, like two weeks.
- 15:15Speaker 6: It's still the four weeks. Is there any update?
- 15:18Speaker 5: So he can come off IR in two weeks. I
- 15:22Speaker 5: would be surprised if he's... Man, they got the Vikings.
- 15:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Maybe after Pittsburgh, maybe, since that travel. You got a
- 15:31Speaker 3: bye week after that.
- 15:33Speaker 2: I think he's going to play again.
- 15:35Speaker 5: I don't want to say it cause like someone will
- 15:36Speaker 5: aggregate it or whatever, but like, I don't, I don't
- 15:38Speaker 5: think it's going to be, I don't think they have
- 15:40Speaker 5: to side on caution.
- 15:41Speaker 7: Got you.
- 15:42Speaker 3: So they don't have to wait till the bye week
- 15:44Speaker 3: after a long trip and kind of, you know, place
- 15:46Speaker 3: him in there.
- 15:46Speaker 7: If he's ready to go, you're saying, you know, I,
- 15:49Speaker 7: maybe if.
- 15:49Speaker 5: You're winning, like you, you're, you take a different approach,
- 15:52Speaker 5: but I, I, I don't see like anything right now
- 15:55Speaker 5: that makes me think that you would want to wait.
- 15:59Speaker 5: three extra two extra games three extra games like i
- 16:02Speaker 5: it just looks like he's moving okay and maybe that's
- 16:04Speaker 5: misleading but like if he's there he's there i don't
- 16:08Speaker 5: see i don't see the need to wait like man
- 16:09Speaker 5: and getting them against minnesota would be great because like
- 16:12Speaker 5: florist is florist is a freak man.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Like dialing the blitz is up right now.
- 16:19Speaker 5: It's like iowa football in the nfl like it's crazy
- 16:22Speaker 5: what they're doing.
- 16:22Speaker 7: This year Hell, yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 3: I was sitting there watching some of the Minnesota game,
- 16:26Speaker 3: and I'm like, good luck running back.
- 16:28Speaker 7: Yeah, especially in bad weather like that. It's like, man, yeah,
- 16:31Speaker 7: you got no shot.
- 16:32Speaker 6: Hey, Nick, we talked about early on when you came on,
- 16:34Speaker 6: you said they're doing the hard things really well and
- 16:36Speaker 6: the easy things really poorly. Like, what's the most annoying
- 16:39Speaker 6: thing that should be easy that they're not executing right now?
- 16:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I'm sick of seeing, like, third and 14.
- 16:47Speaker 5: Like, it's really great that they're executing them at, I think,
- 16:50Speaker 5: a 62.5% clip right now. Like, that's great that you're
- 16:54Speaker 5: third and seven and longer and you're hitting on 62%
- 16:57Speaker 5: of them. But, like, I don't want to see them
- 16:59Speaker 5: have to hit on those. And the most annoying thing
- 17:01Speaker 5: is it's, like, it'll be, like, third and six. And, like,
- 17:04Speaker 5: I just inherently have less confidence at third and six
- 17:07Speaker 5: than third and 14 because.
- 17:09Speaker 2: You just see them execute it so much.
- 17:11Speaker 5: It's just dumb that, like, it has to be so
- 17:13Speaker 5: hard– to where it's like, oh, we're Fs, and that's
- 17:17Speaker 5: the time where everything kind of comes together. I think
- 17:19Speaker 5: the most annoying thing, though, it's just these starts. It
- 17:22Speaker 5: makes no sense to me that they can't score in
- 17:24Speaker 5: the first quarter of games.
- 17:26Speaker 2: It's mind-boggling.
- 17:28Speaker 3: How many games in a row now have they been
- 17:29Speaker 3: trailing after the first quarter?
- 17:31Speaker 4: Or not had a lead, I should say.
- 17:33Speaker 5: Well, never in the Kellen Moore era. It goes back
- 17:35Speaker 5: to 2014, I think. I think that stat was out there.
- 17:38Speaker 7: They've never had a lead in the first quarter?
- 17:41Speaker 4: It's something.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:42Speaker 5: I don't think with Kellen Moore in the building to
- 17:44Speaker 5: have it. And I mean, that's annoying because you have
- 17:46Speaker 5: a good quarterback and the coaches, you know, supposed to
- 17:49Speaker 5: be an offensive minded coach.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Like you should be able to score.
- 17:52Speaker 5: You should find something when you're watching film at some
- 17:55Speaker 5: point that says like, we're going to go out and
- 17:56Speaker 5: attack this. And it's maybe, maybe they're doing something different too,
- 18:00Speaker 5: to take that away.
- 18:01Speaker 2: But at some point you.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Should get lucky and hit like, yes, you should be like, yeah,
- 18:06Speaker 5: it doesn't make sense, man.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Like, just come out and take a shot. Like, I
- 18:11Speaker 2: don't know.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Like, they're trying to manufacture, like, these 15-play drives, like,
- 18:14Speaker 5: every time. And it's just like, man, just do something
- 18:16Speaker 5: to get going. If you got, like, at some point,
- 18:18Speaker 5: you have to have a play call that just works
- 18:21Speaker 5: against something that you saw and it holds up. And
- 18:25Speaker 5: you're going on, what, this is going to be the
- 18:27Speaker 5: 20th game now?
- 18:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 7: Like, it should work at some point. Win the first quarter.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Hey, Nick, you're the man.
- 18:35Speaker 3: We appreciate it every single week. Nick Underhill, New Orleans
- 18:38Speaker 3: dot football. Always good enough to join us. We appreciate it, sir.
- 18:41Speaker 2: All right, guys, take it easy.
- 18:42Speaker 7: All right.
- 18:43Speaker 4: We'll talk to you next week.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it's, it's, I'll have to get the exact stat,
- 18:47Speaker 3: but it is a crazy stat since the saints have
- 18:50Speaker 3: led a first quarter.
- 18:51Speaker 6: That's pretty, that's, that's funny. Like at some point you're
- 18:54Speaker 6: getting like lucky.
- 18:55Speaker 7: It's 76. They mix it, miss an extra point or something.
- 18:58Speaker 3: Like you, like you're winning, you're winning games. Like, At
- 19:01Speaker 3: the end of last year, and you've gone on the road,
- 19:04Speaker 3: you've won. I don't know.
- 19:04Speaker 7: It's crazy. It's crazy to see that.
- 19:06Speaker 3: But, like, Saints are 1-1. They're coming back home. Everybody's
- 19:09Speaker 3: starting to recognize.
- 19:10Speaker 4: It's the Raiders.
- 19:11Speaker 3: People are starting to realize Tyler Shook's pretty damn good.
- 19:13Speaker 3: And everybody's starting to also realize that him being 26
- 19:19Speaker 3: at the beginning of his rookie year was not a
- 19:22Speaker 3: bad thing. Like, all the dum-dums tried to tell you, like,
- 19:24Speaker 3: he's going to be 26.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Yeah, if he plays 12 years, he'll still be younger
- 19:29Speaker 3: than the guy that won MVP last year. It's okay
- 19:32Speaker 3: to be a veteran quarterback in this day and age, right?
- 19:36Speaker 3: If you can have it, that's actually one position where
- 19:38Speaker 3: I'd love to have it. Now, if you're a running
- 19:40Speaker 3: back and you're 26, probably not the best idea. But
- 19:42Speaker 3: if you're a quarterback, he throws with anticipation like he
- 19:46Speaker 3: is a six-year, seven-year NFL vet. In his second year...
- 19:49Speaker 3: not even a full year as a starter because he's older, mature,
- 19:53Speaker 3: seen a lot of football.
- 19:54Speaker 4: All right, we'll take a break.
- 19:55Speaker 3: More OTB when we come back here live from the

- 21:29Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 21:33Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 21:33Speaker 6: All right, welcome back here, Off the Bench, live from
- 21:40Speaker 6: the Raising Cane Studio. I want to tell you about
- 21:41Speaker 6: our friends over at Catalyst. Louisiana has always been at
- 21:43Speaker 6: the center of American energy, and Catalyst is investing in
- 21:47Speaker 6: what comes next. Catalyst is developing the Commonwealth LNG Export
- 21:50Speaker 6: Facility over there in Cameron Parish. The project is designed
- 21:54Speaker 6: to take American natural gas produced here at home and
- 21:56Speaker 6: deliver it to customers in energy markets around the world.
- 22:00Speaker 6: And that means a major investment right here in Louisiana,
- 22:03Speaker 6: supporting Louisiana jobs, local businesses, infrastructure, and long-term economic activity
- 22:08Speaker 6: across the Gulf Coast. Catalyst is building an integrated natural
- 22:11Speaker 6: business that connects American energy production with the growing global
- 22:14Speaker 6: demand for reliable energy. It's another example of Louisiana doing that.
- 22:18Speaker 6: What Louisiana has done for generations, which has helped power
- 22:22Speaker 6: America and the world. Caterus, invest in Louisiana, connecting American
- 22:25Speaker 6: energy to the global market.
- 22:29Speaker 7: Good friends over there, Caterus.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I never heard this song in a very long time.
- 22:39Speaker 7: I'm going to assume we reached the end of the
- 22:41Speaker 7: Creed catalog.
- 22:42Speaker 4: They don't have that many bangers.
- 22:44Speaker 10: I mean, they got a handful.
- 22:47Speaker 3: They got a handful of bangers.
- 22:50Speaker 8: They got us two hours worth, but, I mean, they
- 22:53Speaker 8: don't have that many.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Yeah. Does Creed, they need to be on the burnt
- 22:58Speaker 4: CD tour, right?
- 22:59Speaker 10: No, I think they're too, they have too many, I think.
- 23:01Speaker 7: They have too many bangers. They got their own tour.
- 23:03Speaker 7: They're too big.
- 23:03Speaker 4: I don't know, the headliner was Goo Goo Dolls.
- 23:06Speaker 10: Yeah, but they have also, like, Less songs than Creed does,
- 23:10Speaker 10: I feel like. And also, Creed has like a cult following.
- 23:13Speaker 4: They do, you're right.
- 23:14Speaker 8: And the only cult following that the Goo Goo Dolls
- 23:15Speaker 8: have is Hunt.
- 23:17Speaker 7: It's true. I'll be to that point.
- 23:20Speaker 9: Man's went all the way to Alabama.
- 23:25Speaker 4: I will throw in some Goo Goo Dolls and not
- 23:26Speaker 4: mind it.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Iris is one of the best written songs of all time.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:30Speaker 4: But to your point, I agree. They've got one groupie.
- 23:32Speaker 10: The cult is Hunt.
- 23:33Speaker 4: And it's Hunt Palmer.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Yeah. That's fair.
- 23:36Speaker 4: The Fray also is headlining. Love The Fray.
- 23:38Speaker 10: Yeah, but The Fray has like three.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Three songs.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:40Speaker 4: It's perfect.
- 23:41Speaker 3: If you live in the world of three to five
- 23:42Speaker 3: songs and you're in that genre, we invite you to
- 23:45Speaker 3: The Box for the burnt CD tour.
- 23:47Speaker 10: Creed has like eight.
- 23:48Speaker 7: Yeah. Can Crossfade open up for just one song?
- 23:52Speaker 4: How many songs do they have?
- 23:53Speaker 7: They got the one.
- 23:54Speaker 10: Which one is it?
- 23:55Speaker 7: Cold. Yeah. Looking back at me.
- 23:58Speaker 10: Yes.
- 24:00Speaker 3: I mean, like Fuel feels like they are right in there.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 10: We can throw Fuel in there.
- 24:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:06Speaker 9: Any band that's like, yeah, like I was telling Matt earlier,
- 24:10Speaker 9: I was at Jersey Mike's the other day designing, you know,
- 24:13Speaker 9: my own sub and the girl behind the counter, probably
- 24:16Speaker 9: like high school age, Frey was playing over the loudspeaker
- 24:21Speaker 9: and I'm singing it to myself.
- 24:23Speaker 4: How to save a life or cable car?
- 24:24Speaker 7: It was how to save a life.
- 24:25Speaker 9: And she was looking at me like I was like
- 24:28Speaker 9: the oldest person in the room.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Not everybody appreciates greatness, Tay-Tay. You got to remember that.
- 24:35Speaker 6: Hey, Tay, can you pull up my computer here? I
- 24:39Speaker 6: showed this to y'all before the show, but I am gifted.
- 24:45Speaker 7: Jacob Hester something.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Oh, this is mine?
- 24:48Speaker 7: Yes.
- 24:48Speaker 6: I thought it was for your collection. No, I did
- 24:50Speaker 6: this for you, you dummy. Oh, thank you.
- 24:54Speaker 7: I bought a Jacob Hester card.
- 24:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:56Speaker 7: This was months ago. Now, this is a very nice card.
- 24:58Speaker 7: It's a rookie. It is. Tops chrome.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Which is one of our favorites.
- 25:03Speaker 7: One of the favorites.
- 25:04Speaker 4: It might be our favorite.
- 25:05Speaker 7: That 2008 Topps Chrome was really good looking. Really good.
- 25:08Speaker 7: It's a classic.
- 25:10Speaker 6: And this is a number to 25, 16 of 25.
- 25:13Speaker 6: I bought this, purchased it my own self with my
- 25:15Speaker 6: own dollars.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Probably spent a whole paycheck on it. Let's be honest.
- 25:19Speaker 7: Because I am a good friend. I got it graded. Well,
- 25:23Speaker 7: the grades came back in the middle of the night.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Oh.
- 25:26Speaker 6: And so I've already gifted you this card once. You did,
- 25:28Speaker 6: for my 40th birthday.
- 25:30Speaker 7: Your 40th birthday.
- 25:30Speaker 4: You gave me this same card.
- 25:32Speaker 7: Same card. I don't know what it is. I can't
- 25:33Speaker 7: remember what the number was to it. Out of 25.
- 25:36Speaker 7: But it's red. It's a red parallel. We got this back.
- 25:39Speaker 7: And check this out. Reveal.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Billy Bob me.
- 25:44Speaker 7: Boom. That's a 10. PSA, 10.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Miss Davis, 10 in the house.
- 25:48Speaker 6: That is a Miss Davis grade right there.
- 25:50Speaker 7: He got a 10.
- 25:50Speaker 4: Look at that.
- 25:52Speaker 7: A Jacob.
- 25:53Speaker 10: Let's go.
- 25:53Speaker 6: Rookie, red tops chrome, numbered at 25, PSA 10.
- 25:59Speaker 7: Are you kidding me?
- 26:00Speaker 4: Look at that.
- 26:00Speaker 3: What can I resell that for?
- 26:01Speaker 4: Look at the bag. $ 20, easy.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Look at the baggy basketball shorts.
- 26:07Speaker 4: No tape, no wristbands.
- 26:09Speaker 10: Yeah, why is this like a practice picture?
- 26:11Speaker 3: Because when you're a rookie, it's like they take minicamp pictures.
- 26:15Speaker 7: And they put it out before the season.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Unless you went to the rookie premiere, which the top
- 26:20Speaker 6: guys go to.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I don't know how they picked it because there was
- 26:21Speaker 3: like Fifth, sixth, seventh rounders there.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Like, whatever.
- 26:25Speaker 3: But, like, I was like, oh, I think I'm going
- 26:27Speaker 3: to make it to the rookie premier, third rounder. They're like, dude,
- 26:29Speaker 3: you're a fullback.
- 26:31Speaker 5: Right.
- 26:31Speaker 4: Go back home.
- 26:32Speaker 10: Somebody sent me on the text line. I appreciate that, though.
- 26:35Speaker 7: That's awesome. Yeah, it's a really cool card.
- 26:37Speaker 4: I haven't seen 10.
- 26:38Speaker 6: I'm actually looking up the population report to see if
- 26:40Speaker 6: there's another one.
- 26:41Speaker 7: That'd be cool if it was not.
- 26:42Speaker 8: On the text line, somebody sent me a signed Jacob
- 26:46Speaker 8: Hester LSU 2007 National Championship football on Facebook Marketplace.
- 26:53Speaker 10: Is going for $ 250.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Somebody's stealing right now.
- 26:56Speaker 10: I was like, $ 250?
- 26:57Speaker 8: And then I got another text just now. Shout out
- 27:01Speaker 8: to Rick in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He says, Huge fan of
- 27:05Speaker 8: your show and station. Just wanted to say I love
- 27:08Speaker 8: you all and I look forward to listening each morning.
- 27:11Speaker 8: I was in Oxford Saturday and as disappointing as it was,
- 27:14Speaker 8: that's the best QB we'll face all year.
- 27:16Speaker 10: Keep your heads up, Tigers. God bless. God bless you, Rick.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:19Speaker 7: God bless you.
- 27:20Speaker 4: God bless you, Rick.
- 27:21Speaker 10: What a positive, great message right there. It's usually people
- 27:25Speaker 10: being like, I hate you.
- 27:26Speaker 7: Yeah, you're the worst.
- 27:27Speaker 10: And Rick is over here with his positivity. Love you, Rick.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Rick.
- 27:32Speaker 7: Kyle, you do it.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Yours is elite. I will never be able to compete
- 27:39Speaker 4: with Alondra's. It's so good. That and the do the roar.
- 27:44Speaker 4: I love you, daddy.
- 27:47Speaker 10: I feel like since I'm on the spot, I can't
- 27:49Speaker 10: do it. It's got to come naturally.
- 27:53Speaker 9: Matt, I can tell you that there is a signed
- 27:55Speaker 9: Matt Flynn football jersey in a very specific antique shop
- 27:59Speaker 9: in Denham. And it was like, $ 350, maybe $ 400.
- 28:02Speaker 7: Steal. I don't remember the exact price. If you don't
- 28:04Speaker 7: get a couple of them, you're crazy. It was, I
- 28:07Speaker 7: think you and Shaq were right next to each other. Obviously. Yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 7: the Matt Flens are flying off the shelf here.
- 28:11Speaker 4: You know what? I love Shaq, but you know what
- 28:13Speaker 4: Shaq didn't do?
- 28:14Speaker 7: He didn't win a natty.
- 28:15Speaker 3: He didn't win two natties, as this guy did, okay?
- 28:18Speaker 7: Yep. Boom. Specifically at the quarterback position. Shaq also. Shaq.
- 28:22Speaker 7: Also Shaq, no Super Bowl ring.
- 28:25Speaker 4: That's true.
- 28:26Speaker 7: Shaq didn't have a Super Bowl ring.
- 28:27Speaker 4: He has an NBA Finals ring, but he didn't have
- 28:29Speaker 4: a Super Bowl ring.
- 28:29Speaker 7: Is Shaq overrated? I mean, to the likes of you, maybe. Yeah, absolutely.
- 28:35Speaker 7: The average person, no.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 28:39Speaker 7: You're not just some guy.
- 28:40Speaker 4: You got to know that I'm not just some guy.
- 28:44Speaker 6: Right.
- 28:45Speaker 7: It's the hard-hitting sports that people need to hear. Shaq, overrated.
- 28:49Speaker 7: Didn't win a Super Bowl.
- 28:51Speaker 1: John Harbaugh?
- 28:53Speaker 10: That might be one of your best takes yet.
- 28:56Speaker 7: After last night.
- 28:57Speaker 9: Great point.
- 29:02Speaker 7: Fonny, great guy. I don't know if Jameis can be
- 29:06Speaker 7: a backup at this point.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Stop!
- 29:08Speaker 10: Jameis is the GOAT backup ever.
- 29:10Speaker 7: He was awful last night. He was objectively bad. He
- 29:14Speaker 7: was very bad last night.
- 29:15Speaker 10: I will not hear those.
- 29:16Speaker 4: He was not as bad as those jerseys.
- 29:18Speaker 10: I won't hear game analysis.
- 29:19Speaker 9: I was excited when he came in. I was like, oh,
- 29:21Speaker 9: we get to see Jameis time. He's going to sling
- 29:23Speaker 9: it all. He wasn't slinging much.
- 29:27Speaker 10: A rebuke every single statement just now.
- 29:29Speaker 7: He's awesome.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Real quick, because I'll forget, because y'all know my brain.
- 29:32Speaker 7: It's a PSA. It's a pop one.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Oh, there we go.
- 29:35Speaker 7: There we go. Only one that has a PSA 10
- 29:38Speaker 7: of that card. I'm the only one. Domino. to grade it.
- 29:42Speaker 10: You sent it in, and they were like, all right,
- 29:44Speaker 10: I guess.
- 29:45Speaker 7: What you don't know, that's a population one PSA 10.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, that's the only 10 of that card
- 29:50Speaker 4: in the world.
- 29:50Speaker 6: There are some nines out there. Yeah, I got one
- 29:53Speaker 6: of them. So not a big deal. I just got
- 29:56Speaker 6: excited when I saw that.
- 29:57Speaker 7: Absolutely. Again, real quick. It's all yours for the low,
- 29:59Speaker 7: low price.
- 30:01Speaker 3: I thought it was mine. You mentioned Shaq. I don't
- 30:06Speaker 3: remember when it happened, but I saw it, and I
- 30:07Speaker 3: was like, we've got to mention that. Sylvia Fowl is
- 30:09Speaker 3: getting a statue.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 30:10Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:12Speaker 3: That is awesome.
- 30:13Speaker 7: Big soup.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Y'all understand, that.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Basketball team, when we were students, I don't know if
- 30:19Speaker 3: you ever, we would go to the women's games.
- 30:22Speaker 1: They were so fun.
- 30:22Speaker 4: I went to it when I was a kid. Like,
- 30:24Speaker 4: Simone and Sylvia, like, and they went to the Final
- 30:25Speaker 4: Four every year we were in school.
- 30:27Speaker 3: Yeah. Every single year they went to the Final Four. Now,
- 30:29Speaker 3: I know they didn't end up winning it, but, God,
- 30:31Speaker 3: that was a fun team to watch. And the men's
- 30:34Speaker 3: team was, like, up and down. They made a Final
- 30:35Speaker 3: Four when we were here, too, in 2006. But, like,
- 30:38Speaker 3: the women's team was so consistent, and it was so
- 30:41Speaker 3: much fun to go watch. Sylvia Fowles was all, you know,
- 30:43Speaker 3: I had a bunch of different classes, whether she was
- 30:45Speaker 3: always great.
- 30:46Speaker 4: So congratulations to her.
- 30:47Speaker 10: Shout out Sylvia Fowles.
- 30:49Speaker 7: Sundays in the PMAC used to be, I mean, they
- 30:51Speaker 7: are again, obviously.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Yeah, with Coach Mulkey.
- 30:54Speaker 9: It was Simone, Sylvia Fowles, and Ashley Thomas. That was
- 30:57Speaker 9: kind of their big three, and they were awesome.
- 30:59Speaker 7: They were. They were great.
- 31:00Speaker 3: And, again, I think they went to five straight Final Fours,
- 31:04Speaker 3: if I'm not mistaken. I think it was five straight,
- 31:06Speaker 3: but incredible run. So congratulations to Sylvia Fowles. All right,
- 31:10Speaker 3: before we take this break, I want to remind you
- 31:12Speaker 3: about our friends over at K-Z. Whether you're upgrading the

- 31:37Speaker 4: On the lookout.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 31:39Speaker 4: A little TV commercial.
- 31:40Speaker 7: Oh, you're dropping?
- 31:41Speaker 10: In the Hollywood of the South?
- 31:42Speaker 4: A new commercial's dropping? It is done in the Hollywood
- 31:44Speaker 4: of the South.
- 31:44Speaker 7: Wow.
- 31:46Speaker 3: All right. So, look, agents, I don't have time for
- 31:49Speaker 3: your phone calls. I cannot be in your movie.
- 31:51Speaker 4: I'm busy.
- 31:52Speaker 3: But be on the lookout for K to Z Blinds
- 31:55Speaker 3: to drop a little commercial.
- 31:56Speaker 7: Not a huge deal.
- 31:58Speaker 4: All right. We will step away.
- 31:59Speaker 3: We've got more OTB coming your way when we jump
- 32:01Speaker 3: back here live from the Raising Cane Studio.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Off the Bench. Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and
- 32:30Speaker 1: Matt Flynn, presented by Community Steel.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Sometimes I feel like.
- 32:42Speaker 8: My only friend is the city I live in, the.
- 32:48Speaker 2: City of angels.
- 32:51Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in, OTB.
- 32:54Speaker 4: You're live from the Raising Cane Studio.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Again, our Tuesday show is brought to you by our
- 32:57Speaker 3: friends over at Community Steel. That's Louisiana Steel right there
- 33:01Speaker 3: in Gonzales, Louisiana. CommunitySteelCo.com is the website. LSU did announce
- 33:08Speaker 3: it's a sellout for the Texas A & M game.
- 33:13Speaker 3: One thing I always appreciated during our time, a long
- 33:18Speaker 3: time ago, 20 years ago, But during our time, even
- 33:21Speaker 3: after a tough loss, we could always count on, if
- 33:24Speaker 3: we were coming back home, the stadium to be packed.
- 33:27Speaker 3: And so I was glad to see an early sellout.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Not like a Thursday sellout. Not a Friday morning sellout.
- 33:33Speaker 3: But it was like, no, this thing's already sold out.
- 33:35Speaker 10: We want revenge.
- 33:37Speaker 4: We got it.
- 33:37Speaker 8: Because the way that the Aggies cleared out Tiger State,
- 33:40Speaker 8: like it was literally a massacre.
- 33:42Speaker 10: In Death Valley.
- 33:43Speaker 4: That got your coach fired.
- 33:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 33:45Speaker 4: That was the reason.
- 33:47Speaker 3: That you couldn't wait any longer.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Right.
- 33:49Speaker 8: Brian Kelly and Joe Sloan gone next day. And shout
- 33:53Speaker 8: out to A & M. Like, that is the one
- 33:55Speaker 8: time I will say thank you to Texas.
- 33:57Speaker 7: A & M and the Aggies.
- 33:58Speaker 10: That's right. Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 8: You're right.
- 34:01Speaker 3: You're right.
- 34:02Speaker 10: But we do need to take back the stadium. They
- 34:05Speaker 10: cleared us out last.
- 34:06Speaker 8: Season, and it was just A & M fans in
- 34:09Speaker 8: that stadium.
- 34:10Speaker 10: It was a full-on takeover. We need to claim it back.
- 34:12Speaker 4: I don't think there's a doubt about that.
- 34:14Speaker 3: If you don't have pride in that, if that doesn't
- 34:16Speaker 3: get your juices going, I got nothing for you.
- 34:19Speaker 10: You got a pinch in your hose.
- 34:20Speaker 2: That's right.
- 34:22Speaker 7: Speaking of pride.
- 34:23Speaker 5: Right.
- 34:23Speaker 7: That'll fire you up.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Your wood's wet. You know what I mean?
- 34:28Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 34:29Speaker 3: I like that.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 34:31Speaker 7: This is a big game for Blake Baker. You've got
- 34:32Speaker 7: to be serious.
- 34:34Speaker 4: I mean, it is.
- 34:35Speaker 9: This is the guy that Blake has never been able
- 34:37Speaker 9: to figure out for two years now. It's a huge
- 34:39Speaker 9: game for him. This is a proof for him, maybe
- 34:41Speaker 9: more than anybody else.
- 34:44Speaker 7: For me, at least.
- 34:44Speaker 6: Have you ever seen the replacements? First game and second half?
- 34:49Speaker 6: Or first play of the second half? In the last game?
- 34:52Speaker 6: They just come out and get a bunch of personal fouls?
- 34:54Speaker 7: That's it. Just drop kick everybody. First play of the game.
- 34:58Speaker 6: Oh, God.
- 34:59Speaker 4: I'm down.
- 35:00Speaker 7: I love it.
- 35:03Speaker 10: I'll fight a yell eater. I don't care.
- 35:05Speaker 7: Right now?
- 35:05Speaker 4: Oh, I got you in that.
- 35:07Speaker 10: Yeah, those soft little boys.
- 35:11Speaker 3: Small boys? I might even take Hunt against a yell eater. Oh,
- 35:18Speaker 3: betting for Ole Miss ass Hunt. That man betted Ole
- 35:24Speaker 3: Miss and picked Ole Miss.
- 35:25Speaker 7: Let's see what he does this week. Hunt loves him
- 35:28Speaker 7: as a man. He's terrified of him for some reason.
- 35:30Speaker 7: Loves him.
- 35:33Speaker 4: I'll never forgive Hunt for that.
- 35:36Speaker 7: And then send us a picture of his bet slip winning.
- 35:40Speaker 3: One thing I will say about it, Hunt doesn't run
- 35:41Speaker 3: from mistakes, even if they're bad.
- 35:44Speaker 7: He should.
- 35:47Speaker 8: I got people commenting on my LSU Ole Miss TikTok
- 35:50Speaker 8: that I posted before the LSU game.
- 35:51Speaker 10: I'm like, I just got to leave it up and
- 35:53Speaker 10: take it.
- 35:53Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 35:54Speaker 10: Like, you can't take that. Like, people are like.
- 35:56Speaker 8: When people are– I was saying that LSU was going
- 35:59Speaker 8: to beat Ole Miss and that Ole Miss might be
- 36:01Speaker 8: 8-4 and blah, blah, blah.
- 36:02Speaker 10: I was talking my ish. And then now people are
- 36:04Speaker 10: talking their– I got to just let them.
- 36:06Speaker 4: You got to let them.
- 36:06Speaker 10: Like, I just got to let them. They deserve to.
- 36:09Speaker 10: I was wrong.
- 36:10Speaker 7: They earned it.
- 36:11Speaker 10: Yeah, they earned the right to talk ish in my comments.
- 36:14Speaker 8: Do I think that you need to get a life?
- 36:16Speaker 10: Yeah, but, like, I'm going to just have to take it.
- 36:19Speaker 7: We wish that they were telling us to get a life.
- 36:22Speaker 3: Right.
- 36:22Speaker 4: You got to. It's fine.
- 36:24Speaker 7: Yeah, we want to be trolling them. Yeah, exactly.
- 36:27Speaker 10: No, but that's the thing. That's my point of view is, like,
- 36:30Speaker 10: I get trolling people. I really do. Like, I got
- 36:32Speaker 10: to just take it.
- 36:33Speaker 8: But I don't take time out of my day to
- 36:36Speaker 8: go troll other people because I have other things to do.
- 36:38Speaker 10: So I'm like, you need.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Yeah, like, I'll troll people, like, I know that are, like,
- 36:41Speaker 3: heavily invested in that school.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Maybe, like, when we beat Florida. Like, Doering's an easy target.
- 36:47Speaker 7: Yeah. You know?
- 36:48Speaker 4: Like, if we beat A & M.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:50Speaker 4: I'll throw a stray at Looch.
- 36:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 36:52Speaker 6: Right.
- 36:52Speaker 4: But I'm not, yeah, I'm not going in.
- 36:53Speaker 10: I'm not going on people's.
- 36:54Speaker 3: I'm not searching.
- 36:56Speaker 4: Somebody's TikTok to go say.
- 36:58Speaker 7: I remember last time we had Lucho on.
- 36:59Speaker 10: Or bookmarking stuff.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:00Speaker 8: That, like, I saw people were saving it, and I
- 37:02Speaker 8: was like, oh, I'm going to.
- 37:04Speaker 4: As soon as I tweet something, I see a bunch
- 37:05Speaker 4: of bookmarks.
- 37:06Speaker 10: I'm like, this is going to come back to haunt me.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Y'all are using this later, aren't you?
- 37:09Speaker 7: I've done it.
- 37:10Speaker 9: Last time we had Lucho on, remember, we had to
- 37:12Speaker 9: tell him I got banned from Tex-Ex.
- 37:14Speaker 7: I had to have the Tex-Ex. I got banned. I
- 37:17Speaker 7: was trolling.
- 37:18Speaker 9: I was.
- 37:19Speaker 7: And that wasn't that long ago. That was like two
- 37:20Speaker 7: years ago. Totally worth it.
- 37:22Speaker 3: I have never been to a message board in my
- 37:25Speaker 3: life except the time that Flynn and I pulled up
- 37:28Speaker 3: people making fun of us, and we.
- 37:30Speaker 4: Did them, and we read them all.
- 37:32Speaker 10: People still make fun of us.
- 37:34Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Duh.
- 37:35Speaker 7: That was a good segment.
- 37:36Speaker 3: There's a lot of people that probably just love the
- 37:38Speaker 3: deep dive we do first segment of the show every day.
- 37:41Speaker 7: They love it.
- 37:42Speaker 4: I know they love it.
- 37:42Speaker 7: That was one of my favorite things to do, read
- 37:44Speaker 7: what mean people think said.
- 37:46Speaker 4: It was before you saw mean tweets on late night shows.
- 37:50Speaker 7: Was it?
- 37:50Speaker 4: Yeah, no, just 2018.
- 37:52Speaker 7: We also did it last summer. Did we? Yeah, a
- 37:57Speaker 7: few times.
- 38:00Speaker 10: A lot of people didn't want Matt on this show.
- 38:01Speaker 7: No, still don't.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 38:03Speaker 10: A lot of people in this building didn't want Matt
- 38:05Speaker 10: on this show.
- 38:05Speaker 4: But you know what? He's here.
- 38:06Speaker 6: What?
- 38:07Speaker 4: I didn't know that.
- 38:07Speaker 10: And killing it.
- 38:08Speaker 7: I didn't know that.
- 38:09Speaker 2: You?
- 38:10Speaker 4: No, no. Elijah did. Elijah was.
- 38:11Speaker 10: No, it was Taylor.
- 38:12Speaker 7: It was me.
- 38:13Speaker 3: It was definitely Taylor.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Taylor, I said, Matt, we should get Matt.
- 38:15Speaker 4: I think a lot of people, when we said, yeah, okay.
- 38:18Speaker 4: Good luck.
- 38:19Speaker 10: He ain't showing up.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Dude does show for his once a week. But he's
- 38:23Speaker 3: here every day now.
- 38:24Speaker 10: Now he's like hosting the show solo.
- 38:26Speaker 7: For three weeks.
- 38:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:29Speaker 7: Didn't like that.
- 38:29Speaker 8: All right.
- 38:30Speaker 3: We'll take a break. When we come back, we'll answer
- 38:33Speaker 3: your questions. We'll ask the bench brought to you by
- 38:36Speaker 3: Dos Equis.
- 38:37Speaker 4: And we'll do it here to wrap it up on OTB.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Off the bench.
- 38:41Speaker 3: All right.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Some banks know your account number.
- 38:43Speaker 3: First American Bank and Trust takes time to know you
- 38:46Speaker 3: with a banking tradition dating back to 1910. They offer
- 38:50Speaker 3: personal and business checking, savings, mobile banking, mortgages, and lending solutions,
- 38:54Speaker 3: all backed by the service you expect from a true

- 39:06Speaker 7: First American Bank and Trust. You need some credit cards,
- 39:08Speaker 7: use a debit card, new bank account, whatever it is.
- 39:11Speaker 6: Make sure you're doing it with a local company that's
- 39:12Speaker 6: been in business over a century.
- 39:14Speaker 7: What did we say the other day? It's like two
- 39:16Speaker 7: years before the Titanic, that sale? They just opened up shop.
- 39:19Speaker 7: Not a big deal. Three years?
- 39:21Speaker 6: My goodness, they've been doing it a long time. Here
- 39:23Speaker 6: in Louisiana, they got all the bells and whistles. So
- 39:25Speaker 6: if you're looking to get a loan, maybe it's a
- 39:28Speaker 6: business loan. You need a little bit of a line
- 39:29Speaker 6: of credit. And you got a Louisiana business. Well, it
- 39:32Speaker 6: makes sense to me that you would go to a
- 39:34Speaker 6: bank that's doing business, making local decisions, not someone on
- 39:36Speaker 6: the left coast or in New York City. Over right
- 39:38Speaker 6: here in Louisiana. First American Bank and Trust, FABT.com.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn, presented
- 39:58Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Does it say the year this came out next to it?
- 40:10Speaker 4: Typically it does sometimes on YouTube.
- 40:11Speaker 10: No, I want to say like 98?
- 40:13Speaker 2: 2020.
- 40:14Speaker 4: 2003.
- 40:16Speaker 7: 2001. 2003.
- 40:18Speaker 3: I'm going.
- 40:23Speaker 4: To go one.
- 40:24Speaker 10: Oh, 2000.
- 40:25Speaker 2: 2000? 2000.
- 40:25Speaker 4: Do I win or is Alondra wins since price is
- 40:27Speaker 4: right rules?
- 40:28Speaker 7: Price is right rules.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Yeah, Alondra wins. Gotta be, right?
- 40:29Speaker 7: Wait, it's National Ice Cream Cone?
- 40:33Speaker 8: What?
- 40:34Speaker 10: I'm getting one.
- 40:37Speaker 7: Man, I hadn't had an ice cream cone in a while.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Waffle.
- 40:42Speaker 7: Is there a regular waffle cone? Yeah, it's what they
- 40:45Speaker 7: call the sugar cone.
- 40:46Speaker 4: Stop seeing squirrels.
- 40:47Speaker 10: Yeah, waffle cone and then there's the little.
- 40:50Speaker 7: But it still has a waffle shape.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Ask the Bench. Brought to you by Dos Equis. Is
- 40:58Speaker 3: Flynn wearing Daisy Dukes and cowboy boots to go along
- 41:01Speaker 3: with that shirt?
- 41:02Speaker 4: Asking for a friend.
- 41:04Speaker 7: Daisy Dukes?
- 41:04Speaker 6: No, I'm not like Taylor. I don't have the next
- 41:07Speaker 6: pair of jeans in line to cut up.
- 41:10Speaker 7: Putting a lot on me, Matt.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Ask the bench.
- 41:15Speaker 7: You do have that drawer, like future shorts.
- 41:18Speaker 3: What will be the most important thing LSU must do
- 41:21Speaker 3: this weekend to get the win?
- 41:26Speaker 7: Stop Marcel Reed running the football. I mean, that's what's
- 41:28Speaker 7: killed you the last two years.
- 41:31Speaker 3: This is a good question because I forgot. Ask the bench,
- 41:33Speaker 3: what happened to OTV mailbag today? Tomorrow, because I forgot.
- 41:37Speaker 7: That's tomorrow, obviously. It's every Wednesday. It's every Tuesday. That's
- 41:40Speaker 7: not bad. Who's this guy?
- 41:42Speaker 4: Hashtag ask the fans.
- 41:43Speaker 7: We didn't do Weekend Winners.
- 41:46Speaker 4: I don't really like Weekend Winners.
- 41:47Speaker 7: I love Weekend Winners. Because it's got that opening.
- 41:50Speaker 3: I do like the open, but that was more of
- 41:52Speaker 3: a T-Bob thing. We can bring it back if you
- 41:54Speaker 3: want to.
- 41:57Speaker 7: It's only been gone for like a week. That's probably three.
- 42:01Speaker 7: I don't think we did it last week.
- 42:03Speaker 10: We haven't done it for a while.
- 42:05Speaker 7: Never mind. Never mind.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Hashtag Ask the Bench is the most interesting man in
- 42:11Speaker 3: the world related to Chuck Norris.
- 42:14Speaker 10: Isn't he Mexican?
- 42:17Speaker 4: He looks very Spanish.
- 42:19Speaker 10: I'm just saying because he's Dos Equis.
- 42:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:21Speaker 4: I mean, you can still have relatives that are different.
- 42:23Speaker 10: I mean, I look white.
- 42:26Speaker 7: Who knows what? We don't know.
- 42:27Speaker 6: Memphis gets called Puerto Rican all the time.
- 42:31Speaker 7: Most people think I'm white.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Well, because you're the whitest person I know. Hashtag Ask
- 42:35Speaker 3: the Bench. When is the OTB listener meet and greet
- 42:39Speaker 3: from our guy Nook? We really, like, I don't know when.
- 42:43Speaker 10: Come to Pelican to Mars.
- 42:44Speaker 3: You can meet at one of the Wolfpack. For a
- 42:46Speaker 3: home game, like, I've been talking about it. We need
- 42:49Speaker 3: to have some kind of a tailgate at Elite.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Oh, at Elite.
- 42:53Speaker 7: At Elite.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Yeah, like, so you can park there, though.
- 42:59Speaker 4: You could.
- 43:01Speaker 3: But even if you have a parking pass, you could
- 43:02Speaker 3: park there, enjoy early, and then just go to the game.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Maybe we could, like, get a bus. I don't know.
- 43:11Speaker 10: Ooh, a party bus?
- 43:12Speaker 3: Well, I'd hope there'd be enough people for, like, a
- 43:14Speaker 3: school bus, but I don't know.
- 43:16Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 43:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 43:17Speaker 4: Take them to the game.
- 43:19Speaker 10: For the Texas game, maybe? That gives us plenty of time.
- 43:23Speaker 3: Hashtag ask the bench. Is it actually logical to pull
- 43:28Speaker 3: Sam early in the game if he isn't improving?
- 43:30Speaker 7: That one's for you, bud.
- 43:36Speaker 1: I mean.
- 43:38Speaker 7: I don't think so.
- 43:38Speaker 6: But I guess, you know, you can't take anything out
- 43:42Speaker 6: of consideration.
- 43:43Speaker 7: Look what happened last year at Ole Miss.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Yeah, true.
- 43:46Speaker 7: But no, I would say no.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Well, that– Alston Simmons got hurt.
- 43:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:49Speaker 3: And then Trinidad came in. He got Wally pipped. I
- 43:52Speaker 3: don't think– And Alston's playing well, too.
- 43:53Speaker 7: I don't think he'll do that unless, like, the season's, like,
- 43:56Speaker 7: gone kaputs.
- 43:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:00Speaker 7: Sam's got this. He's got this. Sam's going to do it.
- 44:02Speaker 10: I just love how, like, the backup quarterback is.
- 44:05Speaker 4: Always– In this town?
- 44:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:07Speaker 10: Like, last year it was Michael Van Buren.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:10Speaker 8: And now people are like, let's go Landon Clark.
- 44:14Speaker 6: That's the only reason I chose not to win the
- 44:16Speaker 6: job until my last year.
- 44:17Speaker 10: Right, because you wanted to be popular.
- 44:20Speaker 7: You went from the most popular to the least popular. Oh, dang.
- 44:24Speaker 4: You're going to take that?
- 44:27Speaker 7: Yeah, don't say that, Taylor.
- 44:28Speaker 4: Taylor said you suck.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 44:29Speaker 7: That's what I heard. It's not like you just said
- 44:31Speaker 7: that to him. That's on me.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Yeah, he can say it.
- 44:36Speaker 7: Yeah, Taylor.
- 44:37Speaker 4: My bad, Matt.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Man, I hate my haircut, and that's fine, but if
- 44:41Speaker 3: you're like, dude, your haircut sucks.
- 44:42Speaker 7: That's true. And I did call out y'all's loss to Kentucky.
- 44:47Speaker 7: You did? So this is actually the second one.
- 44:48Speaker 3: What did we do?
- 44:49Speaker 10: We need a mega hater today.
- 44:50Speaker 7: What did we do to you?
- 44:52Speaker 3: Freaking player haters ball over there.
- 44:53Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Hate, hate, hate.
- 44:56Speaker 10: Y'all call me the hater.
- 44:57Speaker 7: Hey, I want one of those hoodies that Blake Baker has.
- 45:01Speaker 7: The yellow?
- 45:01Speaker 4: Those are custom one-of-ones.
- 45:02Speaker 10: The blue one?
- 45:03Speaker 4: The yellow?
- 45:03Speaker 7: Yeah, well, they can be two-of-twos.
- 45:06Speaker 1: It's true.
- 45:06Speaker 7: I want one.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Hey, I literally, Maui told me, he goes, that's one-on-one.
- 45:10Speaker 4: I literally said, they can be two.
- 45:12Speaker 7: They can be two. What if it wasn't? I just
- 45:14Speaker 7: got you a PSA 10. Give me one.
- 45:16Speaker 3: All right, I got you. I really, I got you.
- 45:19Speaker 3: I'll find a way. You want a yellow or black
- 45:21Speaker 3: or purple?
- 45:21Speaker 1: Yellow.
- 45:22Speaker 10: While we're doing this.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Yellow, black, or purple?
- 45:24Speaker 1: Black.
- 45:24Speaker 7: Okay.
- 45:25Speaker 10: Buy me a Louisiana one.
- 45:27Speaker 4: Oh, God. Those are hard.
- 45:28Speaker 1: USA.
- 45:28Speaker 7: We love you.
- 45:29Speaker 4: We thank you.
- 45:29Speaker 7: Off the bench.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Dude, the Louisiana ones. Oof, those.
- 45:34Speaker 3: fly off the rack. Have they sold those? From routine
