- 0:01Speaker 1: Hi everybody. Hi, Hi Catherine, Hi Chelsea, how are you.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 0:05Speaker 1: I'm just todays Critics Choice Awards, so I will be.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I will be returning to my birth network of E
- 0:11Speaker 2: to host they thirtieth Wow thirtieth Critics. It's their thirtieth
- 0:17Speaker 2: anniversary of the Critics Choice Awards, and this is my
- 0:20Speaker 2: third hosting gig.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Fantastic, I mean, it all worked out.
- 0:24Speaker 1: It all worked out.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I got shoulder surgery about ten days ago, just in
- 0:27Speaker 2: time to wear a strapless gown fighting an infection. I
- 0:32Speaker 2: am getting intravenus drugs every twenty four hours. I haven't
- 0:34Speaker 2: had a drink in about ten days, and I don't
- 0:36Speaker 2: think I'll be able to have one for another six weeks.
- 0:39Speaker 1: So who knows. This could be the beginning of my
- 0:40Speaker 1: sober life. I know the parties and be like, who
- 0:43Speaker 1: needed alcohol anyway?
- 0:45Speaker 4: Who even needed it? He just like goes over to
- 0:46Speaker 4: all these parties. Grades Yeah, exactly.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Now, Actually, what my schedule is is last night they
- 0:52Speaker 2: took out my pick line, which is what they used
- 0:54Speaker 2: to give me intravenous drugs for this infection that I got,
- 0:58Speaker 2: And tonight afterward show in a very glorious fashion. I
- 1:02Speaker 2: come straight home so they can reinstall the pick line.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Oh fantastic, that's my after party. Everybody so sexy, so exciting, Chelsea.
- 1:12Speaker 4: I have to tell you about something that happened to
- 1:15Speaker 4: me recently, and I have been waiting to tell you
- 1:16Speaker 4: about this.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Okay. I was at the gym working with my trainer
- 1:20Speaker 3: last week.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Hopefully sons hard boiled eggs.
- 1:23Speaker 4: I'd brought no hard boiled eggs, and I didn't even
- 1:25Speaker 4: let my shoes smell like hardboil eggs there.
- 1:27Speaker 2: But the story, the story is already better just by
- 1:30Speaker 2: not having hard boiled eggs in it.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Let me tell you.
- 1:32Speaker 4: I was like laying on my back doing some like
- 1:34Speaker 4: you know, ad work, that sort of thing, and I
- 1:37Speaker 4: see walk up about three feet from my face, bare feet,
- 1:42Speaker 4: beargar at the gym, bear men's feet, just walking around,
- 1:46Speaker 4: and my trainer turns the guy and goes, wear your shoes. Man.
- 1:50Speaker 4: I just want to tell you this man. He's a boomer,
- 1:53Speaker 4: white gentleman. He's the only white boomer that goes to
- 1:56Speaker 4: my entire gym. He also happens to be the only
- 1:59Speaker 4: person and I've ever seen there wearing a Trump hat.
- 2:03Speaker 4: And I'm not saying that, like, the two of those
- 2:05Speaker 4: things are related.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But well, it's the attitude. Be the attitude is related.
- 2:11Speaker 2: They disregard for others is humilated. Wearing bare feet in
- 2:18Speaker 2: public spaces has is just you have no regard for others. No,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and we're wearing a Trump hat means you have no
- 2:25Speaker 2: regard for brothers.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Also bringing that into other people's faces, I just like
- 2:28Speaker 4: I could not believe it. It was like right next
- 2:31Speaker 4: to my face because I was laying on the ground.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I was like, what is happening? Why are there old
- 2:35Speaker 4: man feet next to me? It was truly horrifying.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It reminds me of the dedication to my new book,
- 2:41Speaker 2: my new book. If you guys haven't ordered it, ordered it,
- 2:43Speaker 2: I'll have what she's having. It's not out until February
- 2:46Speaker 2: twenty fifth, but there's a dedication in that book to
- 2:49Speaker 2: a very special group of people that have to deal
- 2:53Speaker 2: with people like that all the time. And I'll let
- 2:56Speaker 2: you read it in the book and you'll know what
- 2:59Speaker 2: I'm talking.
- 3:00Speaker 4: And you can pre order her book actually in the
- 3:02Speaker 4: link right in the description here, So go.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Ahead and click order please please.
- 3:07Speaker 3: You can even buy signed copies.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and I'm doing a book tour. I'm going
- 3:10Speaker 2: to all these different cities.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Are they on your website?
- 3:13Speaker 2: Yeah, They're all on my website. So we've got to
- 3:15Speaker 2: the website. I'm going to do like six cities for
- 3:17Speaker 2: my book tour.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Awesome, that's super fun.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Well, we do have a few updates from folks who
- 3:26Speaker 4: have called in in the past, so I wanted to.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Read a few of those.
- 3:30Speaker 4: We always ask people to update us, so if you've
- 3:32Speaker 4: called in recently, shoot us an update. We want to
- 3:35Speaker 4: know what's going on with you. So our first one
- 3:37Speaker 4: comes from Ev. Ev was from like way back in
- 3:40Speaker 4: our Oliver Hudson episode and he had the situation where
- 3:45Speaker 4: his parents were like psychiatrists and had medicated him from
- 3:49Speaker 4: like five years old. I don't know if you remember this,
- 3:51Speaker 4: but he was like, how do I talk to my parents?
- 3:53Speaker 4: I want to come off these medications, like see what
- 3:55Speaker 4: life feels like as an adult unmedicated. And he says, Hi,
- 4:01Speaker 4: Katherine and Chelsea, I hope you're having a great day.
- 4:04Speaker 4: It was so much fun being on the podcast. I
- 4:06Speaker 4: want to thank you all so much for the advice
- 4:09Speaker 4: from our discussion. I got the courage to tell my
- 4:11Speaker 4: parents about the medication. I owe it to you. They
- 4:14Speaker 4: took it very well. Something Chelsea said inspired me to
- 4:16Speaker 4: just be honest and not beat herund the bush.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Going forward, I'm going to proceed.
- 4:20Speaker 4: With courage and always trust my gut. Thank you again, sincerelyev.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Oh, well, that's nice, considering I have no recollection of
- 4:27Speaker 2: that phone call whatsoever.
- 4:29Speaker 3: A while ago.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm I don't really remember that at all.
- 4:32Speaker 2: So look, look, look what a difference you can make
- 4:34Speaker 2: in people's lives when you don't remember people exactly.
- 4:38Speaker 4: So this one is part question, part update. Emily had
- 4:42Speaker 4: called in way early on and she wanted to get
- 4:45Speaker 4: a boop job, and we told her, like, go for it.
- 4:47Speaker 3: If you want to a job, go for it. Dear Chelsea,
- 4:51Speaker 3: I hope you're doing well.
- 4:52Speaker 4: Hard to believe I was on season one of the podcast.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I'm still an avid listener weekly. Well, I still haven't
- 4:58Speaker 4: gotten the boop job. I was never confident in my body.
- 5:01Speaker 4: I just always thought bigger breasts would be a bonus.
- 5:03Speaker 4: But if I wanted to, I would have pulled the
- 5:05Speaker 4: trigger by now. I am, however, looking forward to seeing
- 5:08Speaker 4: Chelsea's in her annual skiing post and Whistler in a
- 5:10Speaker 4: few short weeks, I had a new question for her.
- 5:13Speaker 4: I'm planning to travel to Africa this year with my
- 5:16Speaker 4: mom to celebrate my thirtieth birthday. Chelsea, what are your
- 5:19Speaker 4: favorite countries to visit in Africa? There's so many Safari
- 5:22Speaker 4: options and destinations, so I could use your guidance on
- 5:24Speaker 4: your favorite locations. Bonus points if you remember the month
- 5:27Speaker 4: you travel to them too, Cheers Emily.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I usually do my traveling to the times I've been
- 5:32Speaker 1: to Safari.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I have been in the summer, like July, because it's
- 5:35Speaker 2: their winter, so you want to go in July August.
- 5:38Speaker 2: You can kind of get away with June two. But
- 5:40Speaker 2: the big crossing on the Maara River crossing is I
- 5:48Speaker 2: think very specific to July. It's like a month or
- 5:51Speaker 2: two weeks long, I think.
- 5:53Speaker 1: So you can catch that.
- 5:54Speaker 2: But as far as countries in Africa, I've been to Kenya, Botswana,
- 5:59Speaker 2: South Africa, Tanzania, and then maybe one other one that
- 6:05Speaker 2: I'm not oh, Zimbabwe, but that was not for Safari.
- 6:07Speaker 1: That was kind of like a water Safari. I would
- 6:10Speaker 1: go to Kenya for sure, if you can Botswan.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Any of these places are going to yield amazing Safari results.
- 6:17Speaker 2: The first Safari I ever went to was a camp
- 6:20Speaker 2: called Camp Londolozi in South Africa, and that was incredible.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And then there are all.
- 6:26Speaker 2: The Singidas, which are really great too. I mean, you
- 6:29Speaker 2: really can't go wrong when you go on Safari. I
- 6:31Speaker 2: would just say, like whatever money you can spend on that,
- 6:35Speaker 2: spend on that, like however high you can go, because
- 6:38Speaker 2: it's it can be so luxurious, worth it, and it's
- 6:42Speaker 2: worth it because you're like in the middle of all
- 6:45Speaker 2: this beauty and the landscapes are so magnificent, like everything
- 6:50Speaker 2: they can they can turn everything into like a five
- 6:52Speaker 2: star experience, and I mean I'm down with that, you know,
- 6:56Speaker 2: So whatever you can afford, go for it.
- 6:57Speaker 1: This is the trip to go.
- 6:58Speaker 4: For it awesome and that's so fun to like go
- 7:01Speaker 4: with her mom. I think that's oh yeah, I.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Mean you never this.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I have been on vacation my entire life and I
- 7:07Speaker 2: will you can never beat a safari.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Yeah yeah. Well.
- 7:11Speaker 4: Our next follow up comes from Alex She called in
- 7:15Speaker 4: on our Yah Yah. Episode was about a year ago
- 7:18Speaker 4: and she had been married to a man at the time.
- 7:21Speaker 3: She wasn't sure if she was gay. She was sort of.
- 7:24Speaker 4: Questioning and she says, thought i'd send you a quick
- 7:29Speaker 4: update on my situation. It's been a little over a
- 7:31Speaker 4: years since I first wrote in, and things have definitely changed.
- 7:35Speaker 4: The advice I received from your podcast gave me the
- 7:37Speaker 4: permission I needed to start taking action on how I
- 7:40Speaker 4: was feeling. I told my husband that I was attracted
- 7:42Speaker 4: to women, and we tried working through it for a bit,
- 7:45Speaker 4: but I think I knew on some level that the
- 7:47Speaker 4: marriage was no longer for me. Well, we were not
- 7:50Speaker 4: good together for a few reasons. The cherry on top
- 7:53Speaker 4: is I've realized I'm gay. We separated a few months ago,
- 7:56Speaker 4: and I've come out to a few family members and
- 7:58Speaker 4: close friends. Although it was a difficult decision to live
- 8:01Speaker 4: as my authentic self, I have no regrets. I am
- 8:04Speaker 4: so much happier and feel much more at home with myself.
- 8:07Speaker 4: I've been dating a beautiful woman, and I'm looking forward
- 8:10Speaker 4: to what the future has in store for me. Thanks again,
- 8:13Speaker 4: feel free to share on the podcast and pas. She says,
- 8:16Speaker 4: thanks Catherine for saying I had big softball energy. Whenever
- 8:19Speaker 4: someone affirms my queerness, I get all giddy.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Oh that's cute.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I was so glad that was good because after I
- 8:25Speaker 4: said that, I was like, oh, I hope she's not
- 8:26Speaker 4: embarrassed by that.
- 8:27Speaker 1: But maybe it's call I vaguely remember. It's call is triggering.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Some are not triggering.
- 8:33Speaker 3: It's a bringing up a memory, yes, yes.
- 8:36Speaker 2: But I still yeah, usually when you bring up old callers,
- 8:40Speaker 2: I know exact yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Yeah, well these are all like a little bit older.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I mean, we have been doing this podcast for like
- 8:45Speaker 1: sixteen years.
- 8:45Speaker 3: There's been a while. It's been a while. We're in
- 8:48Speaker 3: year four or five something, I don't know. It's a lot.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Thank you for listening everyone.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Thank you well Chelsea. Good luck tonight or should I
- 8:58Speaker 3: say break a leg, break a lake tonight.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Oh thank you, Thank you guys, and tune in to
- 9:03Speaker 2: critically see you tonight.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Bye mhm.
