- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm glad we have someone who can join us in
- 0:01Speaker 1: our anagram games.
- 0:02Speaker 2: We take proper names and rearrange the letters to form
- 0:05Speaker 2: a description of.
- 0:06Speaker 3: That person, like no, I don't know that, like innis
- 0:11Speaker 3: genuine class, very good, all right, Lisa, Jeremy Irons Jeremy.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Mm hmmm, well that's very good for a first try.
- 0:27Speaker 3: You know what, I have a ball. Perhaps you'd like
- 0:31Speaker 3: to bounce it?
- 0:32Speaker 2: Four finger discount dude.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Welcome to four figure discamp. With this week, we're going
- 0:52Speaker 4: all the way back to season six. We're doing a
- 0:54Speaker 4: classic review here of The Simpsons. Is Lisa's rifle. I'm
- 0:57Speaker 4: Den and I'm Guy's.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Welcome to a podcast that is a little sterile and
- 1:01Speaker 3: has no real insight. And by the way, if you're
- 1:03Speaker 3: watching us on YouTube, you may see the thumbnail or
- 1:05Speaker 3: you may just see us talking gesturing to see us
- 1:08Speaker 3: do yes, look he's doing stuff. But you may notice
- 1:12Speaker 3: that it's just these faces, none of these because Dan
- 1:15Speaker 3: I came to the very clever realizations, like we're basically
- 1:18Speaker 3: three feet away from my mother.
- 1:20Speaker 4: We don't need headta If you're in a radio studio,
- 1:23Speaker 4: I get it, you know, because sometimes guests are not
- 1:24Speaker 4: used to radiating, put their headphones on to make sure
- 1:26Speaker 4: you're talking into the microphone.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Blah blah blah. We're professionals, we know what we're doing here.
- 1:30Speaker 3: I like to pretend we're in a radio studio, to
- 1:32Speaker 3: pretend that Daniel and Gay in the morning. So you
- 1:34Speaker 3: want to wear headphones? No, no, no, I'm actually feeling
- 1:38Speaker 3: it not free with that. I know what our American
- 1:41Speaker 3: friends feel like now when they like, they don't drive
- 1:43Speaker 3: without a seatbelt. I mean, I know, do they not anymore?
- 1:47Speaker 3: It Is it a law in the States that you
- 1:49Speaker 3: have to have your seat belt on and it is here?
- 1:50Speaker 3: Or are you just hanging out with hoodlums? That could
- 1:52Speaker 3: have been I could have been hanging out with Don
- 1:54Speaker 3: Toretto or the rest of the Fast and the Furious gang.
- 1:56Speaker 3: But yeah, you see, Americans were like, I don't know,
- 1:59Speaker 3: I feel restricted, but you will fly through the wind screen.
- 2:03Speaker 3: That's wrong.
- 2:04Speaker 4: But was it the Troy McClure video. It's like Alice
- 2:07Speaker 4: through the windshield glass? Anyway, Lisa's rival. Now, I'm going
- 2:11Speaker 4: to start by saying, this is an episode that when
- 2:14Speaker 4: I was a kid, I would probably always skip it.
- 2:16Speaker 4: I was like that just with Lisa episodes in general.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Was there a huge fan of Lisa episodes. Of course,
- 2:21Speaker 4: as we've said Tom and Tom again, the older you
- 2:23Speaker 4: get as a Simpsons fan, the more you realize you
- 2:24Speaker 4: are Lisa Simpson most of us. Anyway, This one here, though,
- 2:27Speaker 4: I forgot, and not only has the Sugar b plot. Yes,
- 2:31Speaker 4: it has the Millhouse in episode art. The Millhouse is
- 2:35Speaker 4: two piece feed of comedy. That is my actual note.
- 2:40Speaker 4: The Sugar episode, I'd forgotten all about that. I just
- 2:43Speaker 4: knew it was the Lisa Rivals Lisa's rival episode, and
- 2:47Speaker 4: I'd forgotten that it was the Wannona run a guest,
- 2:50Speaker 4: which I think was one of the reasons that we're
- 2:51Speaker 4: doing it today, other than the fact that it's a
- 2:52Speaker 4: good episode. But Biggle Juice, bigtle Juice is out in cinemas.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Not a writer.
- 2:57Speaker 3: She's back, baby, well, she's back, been back for some
- 3:00Speaker 3: time with Stranger Things and never really went away. Never
- 3:03Speaker 3: liked are a stranger things, always in our hearts, never
- 3:05Speaker 3: ars are stranger things. Her character just never evolves, and
- 3:08Speaker 3: it's boring to me. I think you might be right.
- 3:12Speaker 4: She's just the same facial expression. It's just it's just
- 3:14Speaker 4: there's nothing there.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Face it's not asking a lot of her, and I
- 3:18Speaker 3: think Monona writ is probably capable of more than that
- 3:21Speaker 3: show I was asking for it. I think, yeah, it's
- 3:23Speaker 3: good that she got the gig. It's probably been a
- 3:25Speaker 3: nice little payday for her. It's certainly a nice profile booster.
- 3:29Speaker 4: It probably introduced it to a whole new audience as well.
- 3:31Speaker 3: As that as well. I mean, I think one thing
- 3:33Speaker 3: that Stranger Things has done well is has brought back
- 3:37Speaker 3: a lot of the eighties, eighties icons, eighties and nineties
- 3:40Speaker 3: icons to the kids of today. So I think the
- 3:43Speaker 3: show has influenced just pop culture in general, what people
- 3:46Speaker 3: are wearing, what people are listening to. Oh yeah, there's
- 3:49Speaker 3: a whole strange real that's really seeped through into a
- 3:52Speaker 3: lot of a lot of popular popular culture, a lot
- 3:56Speaker 3: of reboots. I think. You look at the you know.
- 3:58Speaker 4: The two new Ghostbusters movies, Yeah, they feel well, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 4: you've got the presence of what's his name, Finn Wolfard
- 4:04Speaker 4: in there from Stranger Things.
- 4:05Speaker 3: So but they've got very much that whole eighties amblem,
- 4:09Speaker 3: goonies kind of thing as well. But yeah, the Goonies
- 4:11Speaker 3: has been through the Stranger Man film. Yeah. Yeah, although
- 4:15Speaker 3: Dan days like Goonies, they're back, They're gonna make another
- 4:18Speaker 3: movie Beby. And then I saw an article saying both
- 4:21Speaker 3: Corey Feldman and Martha Blinton have said, no, I don't
- 4:23Speaker 3: think it's happening. Really yeah, I was going to send
- 4:25Speaker 3: you that lot. No that it didn't talbum. We want
- 4:29Speaker 3: everyone except you still work.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Saw Coley Fabn's recent concerts and he was like, no,
- 4:36Speaker 4: there's a great.
- 4:37Speaker 3: What's more of a train wreck the Corey Filman concerts
- 4:39Speaker 3: or the recent Jane's addiction cos.
- 4:41Speaker 4: There's a great video online at the moment of Corey Feldman,
- 4:44Speaker 4: he plays like this air horn during one of his songs.
- 4:46Speaker 4: It's like after circus music. Yeah, yeah, right, but it
- 4:51Speaker 4: plays some other horn sound but it's like a little
- 4:54Speaker 4: and he gets played the horn it doesn't work, and
- 4:56Speaker 4: watching his brain try to contemplate what do.
- 4:59Speaker 3: I do and this is can't think.
- 5:01Speaker 4: He starts fiddling with it and he plays and it
- 5:03Speaker 4: goes doesn't play it right, and he sort of carries on.
- 5:06Speaker 4: You're like, what it's like. It's honestly a train wreck
- 5:08Speaker 4: that you can't look away from. Cory, Poor Cory, because
- 5:13Speaker 4: he's on gin Comis podcast. Nice guy on Gym Comings podcast.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Nice guy.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I'm sure he's a very nice fellow, but you just
- 5:18Speaker 3: can't seem to catch a break professionally speaking. But yes,
- 5:26Speaker 3: enough about that. Yeah, let's talk about this icon of
- 5:28Speaker 3: the eighties. We're known a writer and her presence in
- 5:30Speaker 3: Lisa's Arrival a good fun episode, I thought, Yeah, great appearance.
- 5:33Speaker 3: The only thing one of the negatives I've.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Always had with this episode was that they introduce Alison
- 5:38Speaker 4: as one of Lisa's new best friends.
- 5:40Speaker 3: They almost establish.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Her as their new main character by being the best friend,
- 5:44Speaker 4: let's be best friends only, let's be friends only, were
- 5:46Speaker 4: the best and then you see her in crowds, but
- 5:50Speaker 4: you never hear from because we don't.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Never return, Okay, I never I didn't realize that she
- 5:53Speaker 3: saw hip pop up.
- 5:54Speaker 4: She'd be in the school yard, you know, sort of
- 5:56Speaker 4: sitting there eating at large or should be with the
- 5:57Speaker 4: other cool kids or whatever, just like one of the hits,
- 6:00Speaker 4: hanging out. But you never hear her speak again. An
- 6:03Speaker 4: why her and Lisa not hanging out anymore? That's always
- 6:05Speaker 4: been like, don't end the episode with them going let's
- 6:07Speaker 4: be the best of friends.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I understand why they said it, because mine that wraps
- 6:11Speaker 3: up everything at the same time. Yeah, if you can't
- 6:13Speaker 3: follow through, then yeah, just don't do it. Yeah, this
- 6:15Speaker 3: is advice I've been given so many times.
- 6:17Speaker 4: I would just say to can you just record like, say,
- 6:19Speaker 4: ten or twenty other lines, but we can just slotch
- 6:21Speaker 4: you into car into episodes.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Here and there. Hi, I'm Alie. Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 4: But this was the first episode written by Mike Scully,
- 6:31Speaker 4: who had gone to become showrunner of The Simpsons. Absolute
- 6:34Speaker 4: legend but on the show numerous times. Love our man,
- 6:36Speaker 4: Mike Scully. But this was an episode originally pitched by
- 6:38Speaker 4: Conan O'Brien. He pitched the idea of Lisa having a rival,
- 6:41Speaker 4: didn't elaborate it. It was just Lisa should get a rival.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Right, the magical comedy brain of Conan o'brien're just throwing
- 6:48Speaker 3: great ideas out into the of the universe and Scully
- 6:52Speaker 3: picks it up runs with it. Yeah.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Episode and George Meyer of course Simpson's legend as well.
- 6:56Speaker 4: He pitched the Homer sugar b plot. Oh, there's so
- 6:59Speaker 4: many the a team came together, well you get in
- 7:01Speaker 4: look at it right in the writer's room, Lisa's rival
- 7:04Speaker 4: and the Homo sugar Bee plot. How they made them
- 7:06Speaker 4: work in the same episode.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I have no idea.
- 7:07Speaker 4: I don't think they actually overlap it anyway, don't, but
- 7:09Speaker 4: they both it works, though, feel disjointed in any way.
- 7:14Speaker 3: No, No, I mean there's two really good plots running
- 7:17Speaker 3: together in sort of parallel. Yeah. Their lines don't intersect
- 7:20Speaker 3: or anything like that. They won't do. They don't have to.
- 7:22Speaker 3: They're both strong enough and both well contained enough that
- 7:26Speaker 3: you get exactly what you need. It would be silly
- 7:28Speaker 3: if they tried to make them intersect in some way.
- 7:31Speaker 4: That's where sometimes we do talking Si Feld. Of course,
- 7:35Speaker 4: sometimes the side Fel plots feel a bit convoluted because
- 7:37Speaker 4: you think you're just.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Trying to make all the three.
- 7:41Speaker 4: This one is just proof that if there does two
- 7:42Speaker 4: sold stories, they can run co currently, concurrently and not
- 7:45Speaker 4: have to intertwine exactly right. Yeah, but the Homer b plot,
- 7:48Speaker 4: what a story. It's so silly, but you know what
- 7:50Speaker 4: it is. It works because it's so on point for
- 7:53Speaker 4: his impulsive nature.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Yes, and he's always looking to get rich quick, and
- 7:57Speaker 3: he just gets poor slowly, does get rich quick. He
- 8:01Speaker 3: wants to get rich quick, but he also wants it's
- 8:03Speaker 3: the whole Scarface thing is like he wants the power
- 8:05Speaker 3: as well. He wants and it's one of the great
- 8:08Speaker 3: little Homer monologues where you know, marj just saying, yeah,
- 8:12Speaker 3: give up this sugar dream and the whole it's one
- 8:17Speaker 3: of the great American motivational speeches. Barzon and speaks to
- 8:23Speaker 3: the character of Homer as well. Then he feels sort
- 8:26Speaker 3: of downtrodden, a bit disrespect and he'd love to be,
- 8:28Speaker 3: you know, a big man in Springfield. Fantastic, but it's
- 8:32Speaker 3: so well written and so well performed by Dan, that's
- 8:35Speaker 3: the thing.
- 8:35Speaker 4: And David Silverman, once he heard Dan's dialogue or he's
- 8:39Speaker 4: acting of right of this scene here, he was like,
- 8:41Speaker 4: I have to be the one to animate this because
- 8:42Speaker 4: this is just too good.
- 8:43Speaker 3: So the thing is, though the Homer.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Reference of Scarface there first you get the sugar sugar.
- 8:52Speaker 4: So we recently did season nineteen episode where there was
- 8:54Speaker 4: a soprano's reference at the start where he killed Grandpa.
- 8:57Speaker 4: Hope he killed Grandpa, and I know it was references
- 9:00Speaker 4: to sopranos, but it didn't feel timeless. This here is
- 9:04Speaker 4: a perfect example of a reference that as a kid
- 9:07Speaker 4: you wouldn't get, but you know it's something, and it's
- 9:10Speaker 4: still We're watching it in twenty twenty four and it
- 9:12Speaker 4: still feels on point and timeless.
- 9:14Speaker 3: It helps that al Zoey's sort of doing the paccino
- 9:16Speaker 3: is Tony accident. I also love home.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Sorry March in this episode right, just her I don't
- 9:26Speaker 4: give a shit nature so so basically she's getting getting
- 9:30Speaker 4: no jollies from the sex books. Right then you got
- 9:32Speaker 4: she's giving half fast cliche advice Lisa like she's more
- 9:35Speaker 4: afraid of you than.
- 9:38Speaker 3: She doesn't care.
- 9:39Speaker 4: And then when Homi goes on his massive rand, right
- 9:41Speaker 4: and at the end she goes, just get.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Rid of the sugar?
- 9:43Speaker 4: Will she just like let she hears me out and
- 9:46Speaker 4: she goes, just mate, just get rid of it.
- 9:49Speaker 3: One of my favorite bits. I don't if we're going
- 9:51Speaker 3: to jump ahead of this, but I will say that
- 9:52Speaker 3: one of my favorite moments. It's a throwaway line from
- 9:54Speaker 3: Marge at the very start when she's trying to get
- 9:57Speaker 3: a bit of a bit of March. I sacrificed a
- 9:59Speaker 3: really good camera because you think Homer is doing his
- 10:04Speaker 3: half hour repairs on the just throwing a camera at him,
- 10:09Speaker 3: Go do something, stay away. I want to rid my
- 10:12Speaker 3: my pirate romance.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Even though Marge was not the start of this episode,
- 10:15Speaker 4: I thought, this is one of my favorite Marche episodes.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, just so relatable. Enjoy a little fabio time.
- 10:21Speaker 4: It's like we're has she gave the camera to home.
- 10:23Speaker 4: It's like when you give the kids something, it's like,
- 10:25Speaker 4: go do this. I don't give a ship what you
- 10:27Speaker 4: do with it, just leave you alone for five minutes.
- 10:31Speaker 4: But this, Yeah, Marge was so relatable in this episode. Also,
- 10:33Speaker 4: I liked the Bar and Lisa teamwork aspect as well.
- 10:36Speaker 3: It's true, yeah, they will have each other's back invariably,
- 10:41Speaker 3: but it often takes some time to get there. But
- 10:43Speaker 3: it's nice when Bart feels like he can use his
- 10:46Speaker 3: evil powers for good and he feels like he's probably
- 10:49Speaker 3: gained a little moral high ground by saying, all right, well,
- 10:52Speaker 3: this is what I do well, but I'm going to
- 10:54Speaker 3: do it in service of my my sister who's clearly hurting,
- 10:59Speaker 3: clearly needs a bit of help.
- 11:00Speaker 4: But she's also turned to the dark side as well,
- 11:02Speaker 4: which you'll do occasionally.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I think we're usually find kind of interesting. It can
- 11:06Speaker 3: get a little repetitive every once in a while, but.
- 11:08Speaker 4: Usually Bart that's helping her as well.
- 11:10Speaker 3: That's helping it. It's right. That was good.
- 11:11Speaker 4: I like because Bart prefaces by saying, I know it
- 11:13Speaker 4: goes against all your morals, just like me. And yeah,
- 11:17Speaker 4: So a couple of fun facts about this episode, well,
- 11:19Speaker 4: one I liked in particular Mike's Gully first episode. He wrote,
- 11:21Speaker 4: He's got two daughters, right, Alison and Taylor.
- 11:25Speaker 3: I love that.
- 11:25Speaker 4: When you have that ability to sort of just fold
- 11:28Speaker 4: in your shout out to your family. You know, it
- 11:30Speaker 4: doesn't stand out like a sore one or anything like that.
- 11:32Speaker 4: It's just you know, his kids watching and going, oh yeah, yeah,
- 11:37Speaker 4: they've got a little memento for life.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, but I mean, Alison Taylor's not not
- 11:42Speaker 3: the kind of name that you go, that's good. It
- 11:44Speaker 3: means something. It's a name.
- 11:46Speaker 4: But but see, Taylor is a common last name. But
- 11:49Speaker 4: when you sometimes you get people who have two first
- 11:51Speaker 4: names as their names. I've got a friend, right, one
- 11:53Speaker 4: of my my best mate, Philip Stewart. It's just like
- 11:56Speaker 4: it's two names. There's a politician in Australia.
- 12:03Speaker 3: I think his name is like Stuart Robert.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Oh that's weird, and yeah, Robert Stewart I can buy
- 12:08Speaker 4: Stuart Robert.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's not Roberts, which is the normal kind
- 12:13Speaker 3: of your son. I'm pretty sure it was Stuart Robert,
- 12:15Speaker 3: but Davis like type with our former prime Minister Scott Morrison.
- 12:19Speaker 4: What about what about the old AFL. Maybe a player,
- 12:22Speaker 4: but he was a coach of Hawthorne at one point,
- 12:24Speaker 4: Donald McDonald, you're just taking the piss, taken the piss.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Why would you do that?
- 12:31Speaker 3: I have no idea my favorite?
- 12:36Speaker 4: What were your favorite moments from Lisa's Rival?
- 12:38Speaker 3: As I mentioned just I sacrificed a really expensive camera
- 12:41Speaker 3: Togain to have a little time with my pirate porno book.
- 12:45Speaker 3: There was some really great I wouldn't say like one
- 12:48Speaker 3: scene characters, but just had little moments. They were just given,
- 12:54Speaker 3: I don't know, interesting bits to do. I mean, I
- 12:56Speaker 3: really love the voice that they gave Professor Taylor. Oh yes, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 13:01Speaker 3: he's like to bounce it just the perfect level.
- 13:04Speaker 4: Of So I think is he a good is he is?
- 13:07Speaker 4: Alison's had a good guy or a bag.
- 13:08Speaker 3: I think he's a good guy, but he's condescend he is.
- 13:12Speaker 4: I don't think he is on a level of the
- 13:14Speaker 4: Cotswolds from no, no, but that's I reckon. He's kind
- 13:17Speaker 4: of getting there. He's not he's not as like, you know,
- 13:20Speaker 4: over the top, because Choe Park's not doing the voice,
- 13:22Speaker 4: of course, but he's pretty turns his nose up like
- 13:24Speaker 4: he thinks he's better than everybody.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think he's rubbing anyone's face in it.
- 13:29Speaker 3: But if you can't keep up, then he's gonna be like, Okay,
- 13:31Speaker 3: then fine, because.
- 13:32Speaker 4: He's smart enough to know that. Often this ball was
- 13:34Speaker 4: the most condescending thing you could ever do to this chart.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I did that, Amma. Grain game sucks. Oh man,
- 13:43Speaker 3: I would just not go to the Tayler's house. I
- 13:45Speaker 3: would never go there.
- 13:45Speaker 4: No, I don't wonder she has no friends.
- 13:49Speaker 3: But the voice that I don't know who did it
- 13:52Speaker 3: made it sounds a bit Harry Ish.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Probably was Harry. So Alison Taylor father?
- 13:56Speaker 3: What was it? Did I say his name? Alvi? Professor Taylor?
- 13:59Speaker 3: Professor Taylor? But why are you looking that up there?
- 14:02Speaker 3: The other characters are really in love with the beekeepers.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Oh my god, Adam West personation.
- 14:08Speaker 3: I thought they were doing almost like a spock and
- 14:10Speaker 3: chat and the kind of thing. Maybe, Yeah, it's like
- 14:12Speaker 3: but yeah, you're right, it is more Adam West. Yeah
- 14:15Speaker 3: it was. How is she by the way, mister Taylor. Okay,
- 14:17Speaker 3: but those two guys, it's just a weird dynamic.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it's almost like a Smithers the other guy was.
- 14:23Speaker 3: A little bit. Yeah, except you know when they actually
- 14:25Speaker 3: go to homeless place and they're trying to get the
- 14:26Speaker 3: sugar ban, he's the one taking the leave look around
- 14:29Speaker 3: shirt hold on.
- 14:33Speaker 4: I've always loved the Simpson you diabom.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I thought it was really funny. I just like the
- 14:38Speaker 3: way those two work together. What was it? It goes
- 14:41Speaker 3: a little too quiet, if you know what I mean.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I'm afraid I don't. Yeah, that's just something I really enjoyed.
- 14:51Speaker 4: And the Millhouse, I didn't do anything. Always lost on
- 14:54Speaker 4: me as a kid, never got this. I watch the
- 14:57Speaker 4: Fusion and I was just like, that's the bit but
- 15:00Speaker 4: the maglasses And the best part about it is I
- 15:06Speaker 4: never realized this until I did it for this review
- 15:09Speaker 4: at the Dior Rama Rama Millihouse's glasses are broken.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Oh, I'm like, what to call that?
- 15:16Speaker 4: And then two scenes got two scenes later, there's not
- 15:18Speaker 4: two scenes, got two shots later.
- 15:19Speaker 3: His glasses aren't breaken. I was like you committed to
- 15:22Speaker 3: the bit, you need to drop the ball.
- 15:24Speaker 4: But apparently there was a lot of production issues with
- 15:26Speaker 4: this episode.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Did you read on Wikipedia? I did not.
- 15:29Speaker 4: So a hurricane went through as was it a hurricane?
- 15:32Speaker 4: Believe it was a hurricane and completely destroyed the animation
- 15:34Speaker 4: building to the point where it was condemned and they
- 15:36Speaker 4: had to like animate most of the episode from home
- 15:39Speaker 4: sent them back a whole month. There was a whole
- 15:41Speaker 4: month of production, like six months of like shit was
- 15:44Speaker 4: just like lost. So I can understand why there would
- 15:46Speaker 4: be mistakes like that, but still at least like the
- 15:49Speaker 4: initial callback, Let's cut them some slack, cut them some slack.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Hurricanes will do that, they will. Yeah, So where what
- 15:55Speaker 4: was the hurricane? How me have a look the north
- 15:57Speaker 4: Ridge earthquake not a hurricane, an earthquake. So production episode
- 16:00Speaker 4: was disrupted by the nineteen ninety four Northridge earthquake.
- 16:03Speaker 3: Man, this was being made thirty years ago.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I feel so oh whenever I read these new these
- 16:06Speaker 4: facts which also affected the previous episode, but of darkness
- 16:08Speaker 4: as well. The film Roman was the building that got destroyed. Anyway,
- 16:11Speaker 4: what else did you enjoy from the episode?
- 16:12Speaker 3: I enjoyed all those What did you like?
- 16:14Speaker 4: I liked, Yeah, Homer's rant and Margines not giving me
- 16:16Speaker 4: a shit.
- 16:17Speaker 3: He's, oh, what the world, it's melting, It's melting.
- 16:20Speaker 4: The b guys of course, and yeah, just Marg's overall,
- 16:24Speaker 4: I don't give a shit nature in.
- 16:25Speaker 3: This episode I like to watch. Yes, next question you
- 16:28Speaker 3: there eating the Beast Trivia time, mister Davis, trivia time.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Hit me with your first question, how many have I
- 16:33Speaker 3: got here? I think I might have three or four? Okay,
- 16:37Speaker 3: I think I initially had three, And then like, let's
- 16:39Speaker 3: repurpose some of these favorite moments into questions because I
- 16:42Speaker 3: think I'm a feet unlike Corey Feldman. Ah, what is
- 16:45Speaker 3: That's a callback? That's right? My glasses remain unbroken.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Listeners who skipped through to like this bit because that
- 16:52Speaker 4: trivia is their favorite part.
- 16:53Speaker 3: They're like, what did it call back to? What? I'm
- 16:56Speaker 3: going to go back and listen to the whole Corey,
- 16:58Speaker 3: I might have to become a patron. What is being
- 17:01Speaker 3: advertised on the back of bad.
- 17:03Speaker 4: First question, Larimy Laramie Junr.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Yes.
- 17:06Speaker 4: My next question for you then is what is the
- 17:09Speaker 4: number to comment about? How harns moment is driving?
- 17:12Speaker 3: How am I.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Driving stick on the back. Oh, he's ripping it off
- 17:15Speaker 4: after the crash that I did not see one eight hundred,
- 17:18Speaker 4: triple five three eight seven to two.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Okay, then, speaking of numbers, Ah, how much do you
- 17:24Speaker 3: pay for sugar per pound at the grocery store? Thirty
- 17:28Speaker 3: five cents thirty five cents opposed to a dollar per
- 17:30Speaker 3: pound the time. But you can't get prizes though, that's true,
- 17:33Speaker 3: you don't get any broking laws or nails.
- 17:35Speaker 4: My next question is, besides Dia Rama rama, what is
- 17:39Speaker 4: Skinner's other favorite school event?
- 17:41Speaker 3: Oh, man, no, I've lost it. It's hearing test Thursday,
- 17:46Speaker 3: of course. Yes, who are the members of I forgot
- 17:51Speaker 3: the name of the band, but their single is born
- 17:53Speaker 3: to run her Up? I want to run her up?
- 17:55Speaker 3: What the hell is that? Well is Lisa and she's
- 17:57Speaker 3: in the band of the the.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Also ran ah, yeah, so what do you want to
- 18:02Speaker 4: know the name of the band?
- 18:03Speaker 3: He else is in the band?
- 18:04Speaker 4: In the band, so it's Oats, Yes, it's garth Unkleina that's.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Right, yes, as in so I'm gonna guf Funkles Loggins
- 18:11Speaker 3: and Messina and haller notes yes, hall of notes. I
- 18:15Speaker 3: love a lot of it.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Be careful, right, but they're live version. No, I'm probably wrong,
- 18:23Speaker 4: but just me personally. Their live version of You Make
- 18:25Speaker 4: My Dreams Come True is always played too fast and
- 18:28Speaker 4: like off key when they do it liveause it's one
- 18:31Speaker 4: of my favorite songs.
- 18:32Speaker 3: I've listened to it. It's just like slow down a
- 18:35Speaker 3: little bit.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Right.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Oh no, they're doing that thing you do where he
- 18:39Speaker 3: plays it a bit faster and then it.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Becomes it's almost like it's like trying to prove that
- 18:43Speaker 4: they're playing it lives.
- 18:45Speaker 3: It's a little bit faster. It's just it's just not
- 18:47Speaker 3: quite right. That's not what I was expecting. So I'm
- 18:49Speaker 3: gonna have to look up the live version of being
- 18:51Speaker 3: Made My dream and whatever. He sings, yes you and
- 18:55Speaker 3: he looks it's just like just singing it. You keeps
- 18:59Speaker 3: stop pulling a guy talking away from the microphone. That's bad.
- 19:02Speaker 3: My final question for you then, No, I was going
- 19:05Speaker 3: to go on a big horn ans horn. Now I'm
- 19:10Speaker 3: just gonna say how they're great.
- 19:12Speaker 4: My final question for you is who is Skinner's favorite
- 19:14Speaker 4: Star Wars character Chewy? Yes, we haven't mentioned that yet.
- 19:18Speaker 4: Ralph was also an MVP in this episode. Because three
- 19:20Speaker 4: great Ralph lines.
- 19:21Speaker 3: That's true. I can live without the my cat's name
- 19:24Speaker 3: is Mitten thing. Although I did like the callback. It's
- 19:26Speaker 3: all their callbacks this episode. That's true.
- 19:29Speaker 4: See what happens when the writers my Scully can.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Just make a little effort a second raft. I did
- 19:36Speaker 3: like when he's asked Lisa about you know, the answered
- 19:42Speaker 3: the test. She sort of turning him down. Then he's
- 19:44Speaker 3: asking Allison and Lisa's got a chime and say, I'm
- 19:47Speaker 3: not going to tell you leave me alone.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Yes, but my cat's smells like Catsh's one of the
- 19:51Speaker 4: most iconic ones. It's not necessarily funny, but just the
- 19:54Speaker 4: fact that he brought the Star Wars, it's just like,
- 19:55Speaker 4: of all people, what was it?
- 19:57Speaker 3: What is?
- 19:58Speaker 4: What is It's gonna say? Now we're dregs. That's also
- 20:02Speaker 4: great that in the Simpsons they're not afraid to have
- 20:05Speaker 4: the teachers just show that this kid's like never gonna win.
- 20:09Speaker 3: We have to I love the Missover is just completely disinterested.
- 20:11Speaker 3: What do you think? I think it's lunch. But is
- 20:15Speaker 3: Skinner just really happy because he's seeing these action figures
- 20:18Speaker 3: in their box or is he going to keep them?
- 20:21Speaker 3: Keep them? Why would he keep them. Well, that's the thing.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I mean, he just seems so happy to see them.
- 20:25Speaker 3: It's just that's how any Star Wars would reaction. They're
- 20:28Speaker 3: all here the original.
- 20:31Speaker 4: This is before like you know, there was re issues
- 20:34Speaker 4: of things. All the original Star Wars kend of figures
- 20:37Speaker 4: all been reissued, blah blah blah. Imagine it like it's
- 20:39Speaker 4: what it's knowing only four or whatever the.
- 20:41Speaker 3: Original Star Wars in their package.
- 20:44Speaker 4: It's just a cool little insight into the Skinner character.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Would never see that he's a nerd.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Like I also like when he when he answered the door,
- 20:53Speaker 3: when Ime is going around something or Sugar Marvel also
- 20:58Speaker 3: to co during the review.
- 21:00Speaker 4: But another Skinner moment, they're doing the band auditions and
- 21:04Speaker 4: he's just sitting there yawning. So it's like he's just
- 21:06Speaker 4: like he has to be because he had because he's
- 21:08Speaker 4: the principal. But he doesn't give a shit. Let's get
- 21:19Speaker 4: into some Patreon shoutout, shall we? Okay with the stone Cutters.

- 24:19Speaker 4: let's get into our review of Lisa's Rivals.
- 24:21Speaker 3: Let's do that.
- 24:22Speaker 4: So the original air day September eleventh, nineteen ninety four. Now,
- 24:27Speaker 4: the reason we picked this episode we should have mentioned
- 24:29Speaker 4: at The start was, it's been this week, it's been
- 24:31Speaker 4: a week ago.
- 24:32Speaker 3: What's it five days ago? Now? Yes, five days ago?
- 24:34Speaker 4: As we record, this is on the sixteenth, my wife's birthday,
- 24:36Speaker 4: Hay birthday, Nicola birthday, five days ago. This originally aired
- 24:39Speaker 4: thirty years ago. Can you believe it thirty years ago
- 24:41Speaker 4: to this week?
- 24:44Speaker 3: Instead of making a feeling five days ago? It was
- 24:46Speaker 3: the anniversary. I know, I get to it.
- 24:47Speaker 4: Yes, yes, so it was the week of thirty years ago.
- 24:50Speaker 4: Written by Mike Scully and directed by the legendary Mark Kirkland.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Guest to writer as Alison Taler. As we discussed chootball gag,
- 24:56Speaker 4: No one is interested in my underpants, which was apparently
- 24:59Speaker 4: recycled from the first clip show. So it's come to
- 25:02Speaker 4: this as Simpsons clip show and the Couch gave the
- 25:04Speaker 4: Simpsons swim to the Couch. The episode kicks off with
- 25:08Speaker 4: what Miss Davis is playing her sack? She is playing
- 25:11Speaker 4: her sax and Homer is not a fan note but
- 25:13Speaker 4: he's trying to.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Yeah. He comes in and says, well, you can do
- 25:17Speaker 3: whatever you want in my room. I'm gonna do whatever
- 25:18Speaker 3: I want in my rooms yea, and reads his issue
- 25:21Speaker 3: with bad Boys Life mag with advertising Larry me June's
- 25:23Speaker 3: in the back and kicking the wall. Yeah, making it
- 25:25Speaker 3: impossible for Lisa to practice her sacks. Now.
- 25:28Speaker 4: I have commented time and time again that I do
- 25:29Speaker 4: find it annoying when Bart is just mean for the
- 25:31Speaker 4: sake of being mean, like particularly to Lisa. But as
- 25:34Speaker 4: the kids get older, my kids, Holly and Elliott, I've
- 25:37Speaker 4: soon realized that Bart is just being a brother and
- 25:41Speaker 4: Lisa's just being a sister, and siblings just fight. They
- 25:44Speaker 4: do unncessarily, Like the kids be sitting there and I'll
- 25:47Speaker 4: start pushing it. I was like, what possessed you to
- 25:50Speaker 4: start fighting?
- 25:52Speaker 3: Why are you doing this?
- 25:53Speaker 4: You don't like it when he does it to you,
- 25:55Speaker 4: you don't like when she doesn't to you.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Well, what's going on? But when this happens, you know,
- 25:58Speaker 3: don't lose. The lesson is then a way they're like, okay,
- 26:02Speaker 3: let's practice a little conflict resolution here or on bored
- 26:04Speaker 3: little I don't want to do that. Let it play out.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Maybe they'll kill each other. I'll get some slet just
- 26:10Speaker 3: gay my sex book.
- 26:17Speaker 5: My these seas are certainly heaving well, no more than
- 26:21Speaker 5: your bountiful bothom Milady.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Does that ering mean you're a pirate.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Kind of Ah, these seas have quieted, and only in
- 26:34Speaker 5: this sweet embrace of quietude can two lovers truly be
- 26:39Speaker 5: such noise.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Well, I'm done for bodle.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Stop blowing my sex, I mean, stop blowing your sacks,
- 26:48Speaker 1: your sacks.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Stop it. Do men have books like this? Erotic novels?
- 26:53Speaker 4: Because it's always in you know, in Popcagi say it's
- 26:55Speaker 4: it's the women have the that's fifty shades of gray
- 26:56Speaker 4: and we're porn, don't we?
- 26:58Speaker 3: Is that just? Is that just average of novel? I guess?
- 27:00Speaker 3: So I was talking about we need pictures. I was
- 27:03Speaker 3: talking about this other day actually because my brother in law,
- 27:07Speaker 3: Mark married to my sister Margo. What I'm getting it,
- 27:13Speaker 3: there's a story, but our birthdays are one day separately,
- 27:18Speaker 3: just like you. It was, so he's he he's on
- 27:21Speaker 3: the seat. Ye yes. My sister Margo put a very
- 27:24Speaker 3: old picture of Mark up on Instagram to celebrate it.
- 27:27Speaker 3: And you know, he's twenty something, bare chest has got
- 27:30Speaker 3: a tan. He's on a boat reading an eighties copy
- 27:33Speaker 3: of Playboy, looking very happy to be doing so who
- 27:37Speaker 3: among us? And I gave a shadow for it? And
- 27:41Speaker 3: ready Playboy. What you who care? Let that guy educate you.
- 27:46Speaker 3: It's not like he was reading Hustler, which is a picture.
- 27:51Speaker 3: But you know, Playboy when it was designed was like,
- 27:54Speaker 3: here's the here's the best scouch on the market at
- 27:56Speaker 3: the moment, here's the best Dario supplies, and you know,
- 27:59Speaker 3: here's and here's an interview with Golviadah or something like that.
- 28:03Speaker 3: And by the way, he's a lady who's not wearing
- 28:05Speaker 3: a whole lot.
- 28:05Speaker 4: It was always marketed as the upper class, wasn't it.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, very much. I mean that was that was
- 28:09Speaker 3: Hefner's thing.
- 28:10Speaker 4: I missed the poor magazine era because by the time
- 28:14Speaker 4: I didn't by the time I was an early teen,
- 28:16Speaker 4: it was the Internet and it occasionally find a porn
- 28:18Speaker 4: magazine in the bushes somewhere years ago.
- 28:21Speaker 3: I never saw that. Everyone always talks about, you know,
- 28:24Speaker 3: finding woods pornography.
- 28:25Speaker 4: I found one once and it was just like, we
- 28:28Speaker 4: became men.
- 28:29Speaker 3: Why are you going to I don't know who's been
- 28:31Speaker 3: touching this.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Yeah, but you kids, you're like, oh my goodness.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Yeah. But I mean I get the feeling I was
- 28:37Speaker 3: fighting a losing battle trying to explain that Playboy was
- 28:40Speaker 3: actually like a legitimate magazine that also had naked like.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Dick up stupid, I'll dig my my house.
- 28:49Speaker 3: But yeah, I was. I was team Playboy and.
- 28:52Speaker 4: Was Playboy thing it is for a while there it
- 28:57Speaker 4: was like I hate to use the two and woke,
- 29:00Speaker 4: but it was like, Okay, we're gonna have women in
- 29:03Speaker 4: there beginning to be wearing clothes.
- 29:04Speaker 3: It's like, well, that's Vogue. That's just any magazine that's
- 29:08Speaker 3: that's yeah, that's Women's Weekly.
- 29:10Speaker 4: What was the teenage version of Playboy? Zoom Magazine? Was
- 29:13Speaker 4: Zoom Magazine?
- 29:13Speaker 3: Ohyeah, on those lad mags from the nineties. Yeah fhm, and.
- 29:17Speaker 4: That was two thousands because it was a high school
- 29:18Speaker 4: for me.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Yeah, oh okay, but yeah, they really started to kick
- 29:21Speaker 3: in in the nineties. But yeah, fahm goes bikini kicking
- 29:24Speaker 3: around and whatever. Yeah, can you get you?
- 29:26Speaker 4: Like I think it was like once a month, like
- 29:27Speaker 4: your Zoo cards, like a different cards or whatever you
- 29:30Speaker 4: sent away Cooper or whatever, and you're like chicks was
- 29:32Speaker 4: like body paint. You're like, let's take pocketing that. We
- 29:37Speaker 4: have moved on from that, Yes, I was fourteen, No.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Well not justin Yeah, society has moved on and Daniel
- 29:43Speaker 3: and I have moved on. Yeah, yeah, well Dan I
- 29:45Speaker 3: has moved on. But but it was just being oh yeah,
- 29:49Speaker 3: but but Margin is of course reading her.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Yes, because she sent Homer to the garage to fix
- 29:55Speaker 4: her camera, and yeah, Homos's not doing a very good job.
- 29:58Speaker 3: But as you said, March, I like it when yeah,
- 30:02Speaker 3: Homer's stupidity is sort of masked with he's not going
- 30:05Speaker 3: ooh h dude on the dummies, more like we're gonna
- 30:07Speaker 3: need a bigger drill. Yes, I thought that was really great.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I also liked when when Marge was reading her normal
- 30:14Speaker 3: and it's clearly Hanker's area doing one of his fruity voice.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, does that? Does that mean you're a part kind? Now?
- 30:21Speaker 3: We discussed recently.
- 30:22Speaker 4: You didn't realize this that the piercing in the left
- 30:25Speaker 4: ear meant that you was like a reference that you
- 30:27Speaker 4: were gay when I was a kid. That was almost
- 30:29Speaker 4: like you never got your left earpiece. You've got earp
- 30:31Speaker 4: had to be both.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Yeah, right, yeah, yeah.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Did we talk about this, because I mean and he
- 30:36Speaker 4: were just like I never heard of that, and I
- 30:37Speaker 4: was like, oh no, I had talked about it.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Somebody.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Maybe I was talking to you, I think yeah, because
- 30:42Speaker 4: because it was always like I was always like, you've
- 30:43Speaker 4: got to have it in a specific ear because otherwise
- 30:45Speaker 4: it's cod that That's That's how I felt in the nineties.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Any when I was a kid, It's like you have
- 30:49Speaker 4: to get the right ear piers because from mid to
- 30:51Speaker 4: late nineties, and The Simpsons did a joke about it
- 30:53Speaker 4: with the Simpson Tired episode where he goes into the
- 30:57Speaker 4: in the nuclear sub and barkeets his ear pissed or
- 31:00Speaker 4: the boy don't make were getting newar pissed, and I
- 31:01Speaker 4: was like, Dad's.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Like, you're not going to go fucking near pissed. And
- 31:03Speaker 3: I was like, I don't want my ear pissed. Have
- 31:05Speaker 3: you ever had your ear I never wanted to. I
- 31:07Speaker 3: had one, so I had it like in the nineties,
- 31:09Speaker 3: I had one like ear pierced, and I'm very big
- 31:13Speaker 3: on symmetry. I don't like having so you have to
- 31:18Speaker 3: have two pretty much. Yeah, And after like like a
- 31:21Speaker 3: few days of having this thing, and it's like, I
- 31:23Speaker 3: don't think this is me and it doesn't feel right.
- 31:26Speaker 4: I've seen a guy get a nose ring ripped out
- 31:28Speaker 4: of his nose. His dad it was brutal. His dad
- 31:32Speaker 4: came home with a nose ring and his dad just
- 31:34Speaker 4: yanked out of his nose. It's fucking intense, man.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Imagine so fun fact. I'm going to just get away
- 31:43Speaker 3: from that because it's really disturbing. I don't know if
- 31:45Speaker 3: this is correct, but it makes sense. Do you know why?
- 31:48Speaker 3: You know you had sailors who always had an ear ring? Yeah,
- 31:50Speaker 3: you know why that was the case if they were
- 31:54Speaker 3: if they died away from home, the gold in the
- 31:57Speaker 3: ear rings could be used to fund their burial.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Really yeah, yeah, so they have to have really expensive earrings.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Wellthough usually like gold or something.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Well, you wouldn't it be always panicking about like losing
- 32:07Speaker 4: your ear ring. It's well, we'll lose my earring. How
- 32:10Speaker 4: are we gonna get home if I die? Because that's
- 32:13Speaker 4: not you don't really care if you're dead.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Yeah. I think it's just more like you're not going
- 32:16Speaker 3: to throw them in the ditch. You might actually dig me.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I could be wrong, but that's something I heard and
- 32:21Speaker 3: I thought that scans that makes sense.
- 32:23Speaker 4: That's one of those one of those facts was like
- 32:26Speaker 4: it could check out. To clarify whether it actually does
- 32:28Speaker 4: check out, I'm just going to say, yeah, that's yeah,
- 32:30Speaker 4: that makes sense. I'm going to use as any don'tor
- 32:31Speaker 4: parties going forward, and then you know, have no more
- 32:34Speaker 4: conversations with party is like it gives some of the
- 32:36Speaker 4: story about the earrings.
- 32:37Speaker 3: How do you invite God?
- 32:40Speaker 4: But yeah, So basically Marge's having her her little moment
- 32:43Speaker 4: with her her alone type pirate. Yea, Lisa blows her sex.
- 32:46Speaker 4: She means sex, and she says she's auditioningly for first
- 32:49Speaker 4: chair in the in the band. She needs a practice,
- 32:53Speaker 4: but she can't do it inside. She just to do
- 32:54Speaker 4: it outside. This is where the flannder is here, and
- 32:56Speaker 4: I think it's Gabriel's trumpet.
- 32:58Speaker 3: It's Judgment Day.
- 32:59Speaker 4: That's one of the more common or more quoted Roden
- 33:02Speaker 4: todd Ones moments. Yeay, Judgment Day. I couldn't have told
- 33:05Speaker 4: you which episode it was from.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Okay, whenever I think of them just being happy about
- 33:10Speaker 3: death all that kind of thing, like not even that,
- 33:14Speaker 3: but just godly stuff, godly phenomena who prayed for giant shoes?
- 33:20Speaker 3: I did. Really, that's what you pray? You got him
- 33:25Speaker 3: so good.
- 33:25Speaker 4: For you went out school and Ralph asked Lisa for
- 33:29Speaker 4: an answer on the on the test and Lisa, we
- 33:30Speaker 4: give it to him. It's like, Lisa, I know you're
- 33:32Speaker 4: technically right, but just kill my Throw a dog a bone?
- 33:35Speaker 3: What are you doing? Well? Throw a catabone?
- 33:37Speaker 6: Now here's an oral extra credit question. What was Christopher
- 33:41Speaker 6: Columbus actually looking for when he discovered America? Oh, anyone
- 33:46Speaker 6: besides Lisa for a change, Ralph, this better not be
- 33:50Speaker 6: about your cat.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Oh?
- 33:52Speaker 3: Oh all right, Columbus was looking for a passage to India.
- 33:55Speaker 6: Oh, correct, Alison, and on your very first day on
- 33:58Speaker 6: our class, and during.
- 34:00Speaker 2: A subsequent voyage, Columbus found what is now the continent
- 34:03Speaker 2: of South America.
- 34:04Speaker 6: Yaoie, I never made.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Miss yooie, establishing already what three minutes in we have
- 34:10Speaker 4: a rival?
- 34:11Speaker 3: Correct?
- 34:11Speaker 4: Yes, Lisa goes over and introduces herself. She reveals that
- 34:14Speaker 4: she's only seven years old. Now, I also not gonna
- 34:18Speaker 4: lie this episode here. For some reason, my brain always
- 34:20Speaker 4: assumed she was a new kid, new to Springfield. But no,
- 34:23Speaker 4: she's always been at the school. She was just a
- 34:25Speaker 4: year below.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that makes sense.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Yeah, but because Lisa's in grade two, so she skipped
- 34:31Speaker 4: grade one. I was like, ah, so she's just okay,
- 34:35Speaker 4: it makes sense. Why she that I guess.
- 34:37Speaker 3: Wow, it's like the writer's actually thought about it but
- 34:40Speaker 3: has always seen the new kid. But no, she's just
- 34:43Speaker 3: a nerd.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Yeah, like Lisa, and she's been skipped a grade. So
- 34:46Speaker 4: Lisa hyperventilates here, hypervent no no, no, none.
- 34:48Speaker 3: R all.
- 34:49Speaker 4: But she's she's surprised that, Lisa, I'm surprised you haven't
- 34:52Speaker 4: been skipped as well. You're so smart and yeah, I'm
- 34:56Speaker 4: all my best friends here. The boys push her over, and.
- 34:59Speaker 3: She's gonna be questions. Who pushed her over? Was the
- 35:01Speaker 3: someone that we know? No? No, but they said her name?
- 35:04Speaker 3: Oh no, what was was Sarah? Sarah? Okay?
- 35:07Speaker 4: And it's funny how they just established these like bullies.
- 35:09Speaker 4: They give him a name. It's like, but they're not
- 35:11Speaker 4: a character.
- 35:12Speaker 3: No, bullies have become characters in well flesh out, Yeah,
- 35:15Speaker 3: isn't that. But yeah, the girl girl, I mean, you
- 35:17Speaker 3: just want to get terry and cherry. But they're bitchy,
- 35:19Speaker 3: aren't they. Yeah, they're not really bullied so much as
- 35:21Speaker 3: more just like my games.
- 35:24Speaker 4: This is getting married a can you're a bull van University?
- 35:35Speaker 4: But she says that she's also going for first chair
- 35:37Speaker 4: and just the whole me too, Me too. I think
- 35:40Speaker 4: we're gonna be the best of friends. Yeah, me too.
- 35:43Speaker 4: To have established the rival. But is now driving home
- 35:45Speaker 4: with Homer? You actually doing with the driving because he
- 35:48Speaker 4: was ending a pizza eating whilest driving. It's not as
- 35:51Speaker 4: easy as you would say, as.
- 35:52Speaker 3: You would think that was why burgers were invented. Why
- 35:54Speaker 3: is that? Well? On one hand, I guess yeah, yeah,
- 35:57Speaker 3: I mean are you are you what? You got chips?
- 35:59Speaker 4: Chips in the console, chips in between your legs, chips
- 36:01Speaker 4: and the console console.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I know. I had a great sort of
- 36:04Speaker 3: setup when when my friend Anthony and I would go
- 36:07Speaker 3: to Melbourne when we were both reviewing movie. I think
- 36:09Speaker 3: you've told this story. Yeah, we'd always stop at the
- 36:12Speaker 3: the Now Now Gone. They were the best time. There
- 36:16Speaker 3: were KFCs on either side of the West Gate, Dave
- 36:18Speaker 3: to the RKFC on the way there and on the
- 36:20Speaker 3: way home, get it coming and going. I don't even care.
- 36:24Speaker 3: We loved it. Don't tell that I want to go
- 36:28Speaker 3: to Melbourne. But we yeah, go to screening, stop off
- 36:32Speaker 3: either get some lunch or some dinner. And it was
- 36:36Speaker 3: the old fashioned KFC too. It was too so I
- 36:39Speaker 3: have the setup. So I was like, okay, well, just
- 36:41Speaker 3: as I'm pulling out, I'm gonna have the burger iun
- 36:42Speaker 3: wrapped in my lap, the chips and the console, the
- 36:45Speaker 3: drink and the console. Anthony's not driving, so we can
- 36:48Speaker 3: hold all this stuff. It's my car. I get the console,
- 36:52Speaker 3: like I got this sorted. Yeah, never really never spilled
- 36:56Speaker 3: anything or anything like that, although yeah, every once in
- 36:59Speaker 3: a while you get home, like, no, there's a chip
- 37:01Speaker 3: on the ground. Is it still good? It's just a little,
- 37:06Speaker 3: it's just had my feet near. It's fine, it's fine.
- 37:08Speaker 4: I always struggle though, when I've got food on my lap,
- 37:11Speaker 4: the balance, especially when you're trying to turn the corner
- 37:14Speaker 4: and the wheel sort of like boopsie and the wheel
- 37:15Speaker 4: sort of like touch it because sometimes it might drink.
- 37:17Speaker 4: I'll put the drink between because the kids have their drinks.
- 37:20Speaker 4: I'm like, well, I've got a way to put mine,
- 37:21Speaker 4: So put my mine between my legs and I'm turning
- 37:22Speaker 4: the wheel. I'm like, what are we gonna do here?
- 37:26Speaker 3: Having said that, I would never pull a home, I'd
- 37:28Speaker 3: never eat a pizza while I was driving. It's a
- 37:30Speaker 3: bit outlandishes. That's a bit much.
- 37:31Speaker 4: But if you buy a pizza, though, I always did
- 37:34Speaker 4: a pizza on the way home. Do you do you
- 37:36Speaker 4: wait to get home? You wait to get home?
- 37:37Speaker 3: Why do you get I can't do it. I haven't
- 37:39Speaker 3: at least have a bite.
- 37:40Speaker 4: I'm like, because is there anything better than freshly off
- 37:45Speaker 4: out of the oven pizzas By the time you get
- 37:47Speaker 4: home it's a little bit cool. We might have to
- 37:48Speaker 4: reheat a little bit, I like, idiot, when it's hot
- 37:50Speaker 4: from the shop.
- 37:51Speaker 3: The flavors have found the seep in though, and also
- 37:53Speaker 3: that tingle of anticipation, Like jacqu said.
- 37:55Speaker 4: Give a shout out to your pizza placet what's on zozos?
- 37:59Speaker 3: Yeah, friend of the pod. Yes, although I mean, I'm
- 38:03Speaker 3: trying to not eat pizza as much because it's it's
- 38:05Speaker 3: all garbs. But it's so delicious though, and it's not
- 38:09Speaker 3: deep fried. At least that's true. That's true. A pizza for.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Lunch, we're having I'm having pizza for dinner. C it's
- 38:16Speaker 4: Nicholas birthday.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Where do you get it from? Attitude? Uh no, so
- 38:21Speaker 3: we got it from.
- 38:22Speaker 4: There's a couple of good places around here. I usually
- 38:23Speaker 4: go to our pals. It would have from pizza friend
- 38:25Speaker 4: of the dinner on the front of pot.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Yes.
- 38:28Speaker 4: And there's a place Donny Bok Road near my parents place.
- 38:31Speaker 4: They've got an old they're like the old school. Big
- 38:33Speaker 4: Mom has been there for like thirty years. She's still
- 38:35Speaker 4: working there. She's out the back making the day. And
- 38:37Speaker 4: you're like, you know, this is going to be a
- 38:38Speaker 4: proper pizza.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I don't think I'm in the middle
- 38:41Speaker 3: of Donny book Road. Man.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been. It's just Normine pizza. It's called It's
- 38:44Speaker 4: just it's I have been there forever.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Oh pizza. Okay, let's let's move on.
- 38:52Speaker 4: But home's eating the pizza. So Bart has to drive
- 38:54Speaker 4: the car. Dear cat or cat deer.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Oh man.
- 38:58Speaker 4: They used to do this occasionally. Grandpa wasn't working for
- 39:00Speaker 4: the episode, but he'd just be like, you know, the
- 39:02Speaker 4: turtle would get his teeth, or he'd be like the
- 39:04Speaker 4: old man's proof of files and things like that, and
- 39:06Speaker 4: they Mum was jackknifed his sugar truck, so he give
- 39:09Speaker 4: him a quarter to go call for help.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Only the sugar was sweet as you, sir, Yes we can.
- 39:13Speaker 4: Beverly Hill Billy's reference here, Why God Texas Tea sweetener.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Never got that joke as a kid either.
- 39:21Speaker 6: God, isn't this stealing?
- 39:23Speaker 1: You need your towne charter boy? If food stuff should
- 39:25Speaker 1: touch the ground, said, food stuff shall be turned over
- 39:28Speaker 1: to the village idiot. Since I don't see him around,
- 39:31Speaker 1: start shoveling.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Lisa then interrupts March again with her book. What are
- 39:35Speaker 4: you doing, Lisa? Let let your mom have a moment. Yeah.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Yeah. Lisa is wondering why she hasn't been bummed up
- 39:40Speaker 3: a grade. You know, maybe she could have been nicer
- 39:43Speaker 3: to printal skinner.
- 39:45Speaker 4: I am nice, I am nice. And Homer has loaded
- 39:49Speaker 4: the dinner with sugar sugar, yes, which he found in
- 39:51Speaker 4: the forest.
- 39:52Speaker 3: As he says, yeah, yes, and.
- 39:53Speaker 4: He explains his his scheme is gonna sell for a dollar.
- 39:56Speaker 4: March from the get go's like this is never gonna work.
- 39:59Speaker 4: This is reridiculous. Yes, Now we're at the auditions and
- 40:02Speaker 4: Jimbo with his tamburine has been practicing over the summer.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and poor older is it Martin with his is
- 40:09Speaker 3: loot right? Yeah? I like that.
- 40:12Speaker 4: The loose just become his thing. We just did the
- 40:16Speaker 4: dial in for Nerda and he was playing the lute.
- 40:18Speaker 4: He wasn't dead, Yeah, to become his thing. Skin is
- 40:20Speaker 4: just there yawning away, which I thought was a nice
- 40:22Speaker 4: little bit of detail, because you know, teachers do these things,
- 40:26Speaker 4: and now that Elliot's at school, I see the teacher.
- 40:28Speaker 4: I'm just thinking, I know, you can't be fun to
- 40:30Speaker 4: doing this.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Oh yeah, but it's just part of the thing. When
- 40:33Speaker 3: you're growing up, you think, oh wow, they must be
- 40:34Speaker 3: so happy to be here and so charged to teach us,
- 40:36Speaker 3: and you know, dialed in every second. It's like any
- 40:40Speaker 3: nine to five job or nine to three job or
- 40:42Speaker 3: whatever they've got. It's like, I can't wait for this
- 40:45Speaker 3: to be over.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Because Elliott did swinging lessons last week, right, that's how
- 40:48Speaker 4: they do it now. School school swiming lessons used to
- 40:50Speaker 4: be once a week. You'd go down on a Friday
- 40:52Speaker 4: or whatever. Do you swing lessons? Now it's they booked
- 40:54Speaker 4: the pull out for the week and the school dismash
- 40:56Speaker 4: that's Monday to Friday, and have had better results. Right, So,
- 40:59Speaker 4: because kids now doing it every single day, build their
- 41:01Speaker 4: confidence uping and it's worked.
- 41:03Speaker 3: Valley.
- 41:03Speaker 4: He now put his head into the water, huge milestone
- 41:05Speaker 4: for Alliot would never put his hand under the water. Well, anyway,
- 41:07Speaker 4: so he gets back on Friday. I was like, what
- 41:09Speaker 4: would you do after you got back from simulasons? He goes,
- 41:11Speaker 4: we watched Finding Nemo. I was like, the whole movie.
- 41:13Speaker 4: I'll just bit. He goes the whole movie and then
- 41:15Speaker 4: Nicholas kind of like, I'm nice to see the learning
- 41:18Speaker 4: and I was just like, you know what, these teachers
- 41:19Speaker 4: have it hard. We struggled to have Alliot I hope
- 41:23Speaker 4: for three hours over the teacher and those were the
- 41:26Speaker 4: best days.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Went oh yeah, so everybody win.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Back in back in the nineties, maybe even in the eighties,
- 41:31Speaker 4: the teacher would wheel in the TV absolutely, today is
- 41:33Speaker 4: going to be a good day.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Oh, everybody's seen the meme of like, yeah, when when
- 41:36Speaker 3: the av unit is being rolled in, it's like, oh,
- 41:38Speaker 3: you know, you're in for a good day. Teachers are
- 41:41Speaker 3: probably going off the starf from having a dart. We
- 41:43Speaker 3: don't care. It's like when we get in the movie.
- 41:46Speaker 4: Yeah, and they knew that the kids were singing and
- 41:48Speaker 4: these kids were working about It's.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Like whatever, whatever, this is not going to be on
- 41:52Speaker 3: the test exactly right.
- 41:54Speaker 4: Good times, yes, but had their sacks off. I really
- 41:58Speaker 4: I never usually enjoyed this moment when I was younger,
- 42:00Speaker 4: I enjoyed it. Here, So the bait and switch, Lisa
- 42:03Speaker 4: waking up thinking it's a dream. Oh, and she goes
- 42:05Speaker 4: and then she falls asleep. This says not a dream.
- 42:07Speaker 4: I always just thought it was stupid, but I like
- 42:09Speaker 4: it now.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:15Speaker 4: No, no, it's well directed, I think as well, because
- 42:18Speaker 4: you think the first is going to be a commercial break, Yeah,
- 42:20Speaker 4: that's not.
- 42:20Speaker 3: But also just the sacks off between the two of them, like, yeah,
- 42:23Speaker 3: this is one put together the world.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, and clearly it's pitched this episode. The way
- 42:28Speaker 4: it's sort of Lisa's position is that she's the bag.
- 42:30Speaker 4: She's always competing. Allison was competing here too, Yeah, both
- 42:34Speaker 4: at each other.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Yeah. Well it's I always say it was like, you know,
- 42:37Speaker 3: some of the people you dislike the most people who
- 42:39Speaker 3: are like you the most. Yeah, And it's funny.
- 42:42Speaker 4: We had a couple of kids, one kid in particular,
- 42:44Speaker 4: who skipped up to our class in primary school. And
- 42:49Speaker 4: those two kids, one in particular, did have that aura
- 42:52Speaker 4: of like, mister Taylor, of I know you think you're
- 42:55Speaker 4: better than me because you skipped a class. But by
- 42:58Speaker 4: the time they were like out in the sky a
- 43:00Speaker 4: yard is like, let's play sports. No, he's bigger than
- 43:02Speaker 4: you me. But they would always have that little sense
- 43:07Speaker 4: of arrogance too, And I feel like you get that
- 43:10Speaker 4: with Alison here a little bit. She seems lovely, but
- 43:13Speaker 4: as we see this moment, she also wants to win.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Oh of course, yeah. I mean someone with the room
- 43:18Speaker 3: full of trophies like she's got. Yeah, it's clearly got
- 43:20Speaker 3: to have some got to have some dog in them.
- 43:23Speaker 4: And they never really talk about it in the episode.
- 43:25Speaker 4: It's not really part of the story. But do you
- 43:27Speaker 4: think they could have included the element of mister Taylor
- 43:31Speaker 4: pressuring Allison or do you think I'm going to have
- 43:32Speaker 4: been too much?
- 43:33Speaker 3: I think it would have been a bit much. I
- 43:34Speaker 3: think this episode has enough ill as it is. Yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 3: I mean, this episode is well written enough and well
- 43:40Speaker 3: made enough that you could probably slide it in it
- 43:43Speaker 3: fairly subtly. But I don't know. I don't think it
- 43:46Speaker 3: needs it. I don't think it does.
- 43:47Speaker 4: It doesn't need it. No, no, of course not no.
- 43:50Speaker 4: But Lisa goes to Mars. She feels so average and
- 43:52Speaker 4: you're always number one to me, first born's within earshot,
- 43:55Speaker 4: the number one girl. Then may be disappointed. I relate
- 43:57Speaker 4: to this because it's just like I'm just trying to
- 44:00Speaker 4: hear with the child. It's it's not important. But sometimes
- 44:03Speaker 4: I'll say they'll say, I'll say the kid's time for bed, right,
- 44:07Speaker 4: and they'll run to bed and hotly jump in the
- 44:09Speaker 4: bedroom first, and Sugar, I win and it's.
- 44:11Speaker 3: Like, oh, I was like, it doesn't matter. It's not
- 44:14Speaker 3: a competition. It doesn't matter. Guys want to be doing it.
- 44:19Speaker 4: But you know, it doesn't matter how good you are,
- 44:21Speaker 4: They'll always be someone better than you. That's actually good advice.
- 44:23Speaker 4: Oh yeah, absolutely, don't worry. You're never gonna be the
- 44:25Speaker 4: best at anything.
- 44:27Speaker 3: And even the best in the world sort of constantly
- 44:30Speaker 3: either looking over their shoulder or looking at going I've
- 44:32Speaker 3: got to beat that.
- 44:32Speaker 4: You might be the best in the world at this moment,
- 44:34Speaker 4: but they're guarantee is probably someone else in his world
- 44:36Speaker 4: that's probably better than you, but just don't realize it.
- 44:38Speaker 3: That's true.
- 44:38Speaker 4: Yeah, they haven't had the opportunity to get to.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Where you are.
- 44:40Speaker 4: Yeah, there will always be someone better than you.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Said. Never one comes to the podcasting and you know she's
- 44:46Speaker 3: more scared of you.
- 44:47Speaker 4: You're thinking of bears mother so Homer's now doing Daughter
- 44:50Speaker 4: or Sugar at the Skinner's house. Sometimes they think, I
- 44:54Speaker 4: think they make skin it a little bit too childish.
- 44:55Speaker 4: I thought this was one of those moments. I'm a
- 44:57Speaker 4: big boy, I could do what I want. I'm like,
- 45:00Speaker 4: we'll do without that, But he gets grounded.

- 45:32Speaker 4: a description of this podcast. Ralph then asks Alison for
- 45:37Speaker 4: help and Lisa, I can't help you either, leave me alone.
- 45:40Speaker 4: Lisa sees Alison being bullied, She's like, oh, that used
- 45:42Speaker 4: to be my face in the mud, and Bark gets
- 45:44Speaker 4: the idea, the robber spider idea. Here. This moment just
- 45:46Speaker 4: kind of yeah, a bit silly. I guess they're just
- 45:50Speaker 4: trying to make him out like he's a bit imature. Anyway,
- 45:52Speaker 4: he offers to dig up dirt on Alison for Lisa,
- 45:55Speaker 4: and he says it's kind of like how I got
- 45:56Speaker 4: the millhouse on America's Most Wanted. Yeah, and they chasing
- 45:59Speaker 4: him through the yard, just setting up the big fugitive
- 46:02Speaker 4: moment in a few scenes. Then he gives I like
- 46:05Speaker 4: this though, So I guess that firste that Robber Spider
- 46:07Speaker 4: was a setup for this punchline here.
- 46:09Speaker 3: That's true's And also I think it's not as funny
- 46:14Speaker 3: as when say Homer, as I said earlier, when he's
- 46:19Speaker 3: messed up or whatever, but being kind of ooh yes
- 46:22Speaker 3: and being kind of sophisticated with it or whatever. But
- 46:25Speaker 3: when Bart is like being kind of grown up in
- 46:27Speaker 3: his silly pranks and thinking, oh, note to myself, do this,
- 46:30Speaker 3: do this. I get where you're coming from, and it's
- 46:34Speaker 3: sort of like a connection to the way Homer does things.
- 46:38Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't really like it as much.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And you didn't think i'd make any money. I found
- 46:42Speaker 1: a dollar while I was waiting for the bus.
- 46:45Speaker 3: While you were out earning that dollar, you lost forty
- 46:48Speaker 3: dollars by not going to work.
- 46:50Speaker 1: The plant called and said, if you don't come in tomorrow,
- 46:52Speaker 1: don't bother coming in.
- 46:53Speaker 3: Monday for day weekend classic.
- 46:56Speaker 4: You know what's good about it? Acknowledging that he still
- 46:57Speaker 4: does have a job. That's true, yes, because now it's
- 47:00Speaker 4: just hope he's got a new job this week. No
- 47:02Speaker 4: reference to the power plan at all doesn't matter anymore
- 47:04Speaker 4: in season nineteen. But Lisa's now looking at all of
- 47:06Speaker 4: her awards and she just know it. There's no Shaman
- 47:09Speaker 4: being second Q. What's the band called?
- 47:11Speaker 3: I forgot what the name of the band was called.
- 47:13Speaker 4: But there's their number two hit. Yeah, but why.
- 47:15Speaker 3: Will they come to Bullis? But yeah, as we said before,
- 47:19Speaker 3: it's yeah Garf. I like the idea of Garfuncle being
- 47:24Speaker 3: sort of lesser to Simon. I mean, everybody likes Paul Simon,
- 47:27Speaker 3: of course, but garnbg was pretty good, lovely voice. I
- 47:30Speaker 3: guess maybe he didn't contribute as much. Maybe. Yeah, Also
- 47:34Speaker 3: is that these are the second in the in the naming,
- 47:37Speaker 3: like both Simon and garfungle logs, and maybe that's the joke, yeah,
- 47:40Speaker 3: as opposed to them being sort of lesser. Yeah, it's like,
- 47:43Speaker 3: you know, Dan Owen guy. He keeps calling it, keeps
- 47:45Speaker 3: on called guy and Dan I keep saying, no, no, no,
- 47:47Speaker 3: it's Daniel. But I got born to runner up. It's
- 47:52Speaker 3: actually that's that's pretty clever that I get the feeling
- 47:54Speaker 3: that's the sort of not the that was the germ
- 47:57Speaker 3: of the joke, and they reverse engineered it from that.
- 47:59Speaker 4: I feel like, of these moments here, it's like they
- 48:01Speaker 4: made the punchline then found there. Yeah, but but has
- 48:04Speaker 4: found nothing on Alison. There's nothing that sort of no
- 48:06Speaker 4: dirt to dish up. But he's tipped the feds US
- 48:09Speaker 4: through wear mealhouses and we get the ug can.
- 48:13Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I didn't do anything.
- 48:16Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 48:27Speaker 4: One of the greatest meme setups of all time. He
- 48:29Speaker 4: can just for anything.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Was that just one of the great movie moments as
- 48:33Speaker 3: far as I'm concerned. That's fair. I remember seeing the
- 48:35Speaker 3: Future in the cinema and.
- 48:37Speaker 4: One of your favorite films, isn't it It's really good?
- 48:39Speaker 3: Yeah? Oh yeah, you always say it's always it. It's good.
- 48:42Speaker 3: The Fugitive No One's you can't really say anymore, would
- 48:46Speaker 3: stream or anything like that, But you know it's like
- 48:47Speaker 3: when it was on the on the TV like Sunday
- 48:50Speaker 3: Night of the Movies.
- 48:51Speaker 4: No one's pot on the Fugitives. It looks like we're
- 48:54Speaker 4: watching the Fugitive. For me, it was Connair. When I
- 48:56Speaker 4: was a kid, I was like, if Connor is on,
- 48:57Speaker 4: I am not I'm dropping my plans. Hey baby, no date?
- 49:02Speaker 4: Watch yesterday, Nikola, Oh fantastic.
- 49:05Speaker 3: We had a birthday? Did a plan to cancel it?
- 49:09Speaker 1: No?
- 49:10Speaker 3: But I remember seeing in the cinema and just that
- 49:11Speaker 3: bit when I didn't kill my wife. I don't care,
- 49:16Speaker 3: Holy mol that was on the table. He didn't care.
- 49:22Speaker 4: So Lisa says, I need to stop being so petty.
- 49:24Speaker 4: She is a wonderful person. And as Bart says, you know,
- 49:28Speaker 4: who compete? Why compete with someone who's going to kick you.
- 49:31Speaker 4: But anyway, then she goes to Allison's house and Professor
- 49:34Speaker 4: Taylor's there. Glad someone's here who can joins for an
- 49:36Speaker 4: anagram game?
- 49:37Speaker 3: Not fun at all? Not fun.
- 49:39Speaker 4: No, It's like when you go to a trivia night.
- 49:40Speaker 4: The questions are too hard, Like I didn't come here
- 49:42Speaker 4: to feel stupid.
- 49:43Speaker 3: No, no, I came here to boast my house. Smart
- 49:45Speaker 3: I am. I'll take the old l but I need
- 49:47Speaker 3: more ws.
- 49:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, exactly. I tried to think of something for
- 49:51Speaker 4: Jomy's on. I spent about three seconds. I couldn't think
- 49:53Speaker 4: of anything.
- 49:53Speaker 3: Oh god, no, no, I mean Jomy's a yeah, you
- 49:58Speaker 3: and I'm not dumb people coming up with anagrams in
- 50:02Speaker 3: your head. It's like, no, no, I need a piece
- 50:03Speaker 3: of paper and a couple of hours.
- 50:05Speaker 4: Yeah, look good, But Ali Ginnison genuine class works.
- 50:09Speaker 3: That does work. Yeah, yes, I like to.
- 50:11Speaker 4: Think too, Nah, because I don't think Alison has many friends,
- 50:14Speaker 4: if at all. So it's just imagine if like Professor
- 50:16Speaker 4: Taylor and Allison had this little setup where it's like,
- 50:18Speaker 4: i'll say, a Guinness.
- 50:20Speaker 3: I was thinking the exact same thing to make you
- 50:22Speaker 3: seem smarter than her. Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.
- 50:24Speaker 3: I'm watching this is a this is a setup. I'm
- 50:29Speaker 3: glad we were thinking that exact same thing.
- 50:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 3: Look, they told you he's a bad guy. He's a monster.
- 50:35Speaker 3: He's the heel of this episode. I love you is
- 50:39Speaker 3: a good guy. He's a monster, He's a heel. Lisa
- 50:42Speaker 3: gets there, Lisa's coming over.
- 50:44Speaker 4: She's she's my rival. She thinks she's gonna get my
- 50:46Speaker 4: first chair, I beat her at that. I'm gonna bring
- 50:48Speaker 4: it in a few peaks, all right, I'll ask you
- 50:50Speaker 4: al Guinness then scam anagram, scam.
- 50:58Speaker 3: Like it. I like it.
- 51:00Speaker 4: That's very good for a first try.
- 51:02Speaker 3: I have the ball.
- 51:03Speaker 4: Perhaps you'd like to bounce it, and perhaps as well.
- 51:05Speaker 3: You're patronizing prick, But it's like takebacks on the nice
- 51:08Speaker 3: things I said about you.
- 51:09Speaker 4: Perhaps you'd like to bounce it. Then she shows off
- 51:13Speaker 4: her awards room and she's made the diorama of the
- 51:16Speaker 4: Telltale Heart from ad gall and Poe. It's weeks before
- 51:19Speaker 4: the diorama rama. So does that mean like weeks of
- 51:22Speaker 4: transpire we're doing the sugar because Lisa is weeks before
- 51:24Speaker 4: the diarramaama. And then we get to the dioramaama. So
- 51:27Speaker 4: Homan is not working for weeks.
- 51:31Speaker 3: You're really hung up on home and not going to work.
- 51:34Speaker 3: That's how you always bring up how long was he
- 51:36Speaker 3: doing the sugar scheme for? But I don't know.
- 51:40Speaker 4: But she drops the ball and it's on the foot,
- 51:42Speaker 4: got away from you. Huh, that was actually had it?
- 51:48Speaker 3: We come back.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Homer is asleep by by Strigar, by his sugar, and
- 51:52Speaker 4: the strong must protect the sweet in America.
- 51:56Speaker 1: First you'll get the sugar, then you'll get the power,
- 52:01Speaker 1: then you'll get the women.
- 52:04Speaker 4: This is one of the most iconic Homer moments, right.
- 52:06Speaker 3: Oh yeah, in between that I've written down and I
- 52:10Speaker 3: do it again.
- 52:10Speaker 4: I don't know who that's the guy who stuffs the Englishman.
- 52:13Speaker 4: That's it speak, he says, I'm paranoid. She's like, just
- 52:15Speaker 4: been parallel. You know why? That was great? You dropped
- 52:21Speaker 4: your guard for just a second. Do it again.
- 52:25Speaker 3: Such a random moment. But yeah, I'm sorry didn't put
- 52:28Speaker 3: that in my favorites because I thought that was hilarious.
- 52:31Speaker 3: And I do it again.
- 52:34Speaker 4: Good days off one of the things. Why did Americans
- 52:38Speaker 4: think that English people saying good day? I've been England
- 52:40Speaker 4: numerous times.
- 52:44Speaker 3: I know you've taken it. You've taken issue with representations
- 52:48Speaker 3: of englishness, yes, or just like you know, shrimp on
- 52:51Speaker 3: the barbie. Yeah, we don't say shrimp, and we don't
- 52:54Speaker 3: even put him on at be mined but not really
- 53:00Speaker 3: seafood in my steaks. What are you doing? I mean,
- 53:04Speaker 3: I don't eat shellfish or anything like that. I've got
- 53:06Speaker 3: a mild allergies. And plus even just looking at him
- 53:10Speaker 3: like no oyster is not appealing to no, no, none
- 53:13Speaker 3: of it. Fish is just generally not an appealing meal. Nah.
- 53:17Speaker 3: I mean, if it's a nice filet, it's like, oh
- 53:20Speaker 3: that looks pretty good. They a nice piece of salmon,
- 53:21Speaker 3: or a nice a good bit of FLA good bit
- 53:23Speaker 3: of flake, can't go wrong.
- 53:24Speaker 4: But shark FYI, Oh yeah, Nikola, I have an English face.
- 53:27Speaker 3: She come with it.
- 53:28Speaker 4: She was like, goes to the fish and chip shop
- 53:29Speaker 4: and goes, can I have a piece of shark and
- 53:31Speaker 4: everyone shops like, don't cause sharks so weird.
- 53:37Speaker 3: But I mean looking at like, oh no, I'm looking
- 53:41Speaker 3: at a prawn or a shrimp. It's like I don't
- 53:43Speaker 3: want to eat that. It's her eyes. Yeah, bet that's
- 53:47Speaker 3: the Beaties. Or even a crab or a lobster. It's like, no,
- 53:51Speaker 3: I don't know, but I was gonna ask if you
- 53:54Speaker 3: were head surf and turf. No. No, see that just
- 53:57Speaker 3: doesn't seem appealing to me either. No, that's that's fucking
- 53:59Speaker 3: a boover good steak.
- 54:01Speaker 4: But it's just like Nicholas sometimes cooks like salmon in
- 54:04Speaker 4: the oven. Right, I'll get home and there's this salmon
- 54:06Speaker 4: just threat the house, and I'm just.
- 54:07Speaker 3: Like it smells like seven, we're gonna have to.
- 54:13Speaker 4: Buy a new house again, Nicko. But he goes on
- 54:19Speaker 4: his rand here because he can't live the button down life.
- 54:21Speaker 3: I know he wants the terrifying hoe, terrifying low, terrifying
- 54:25Speaker 3: hose as well, well, Guy Davis, terrifying hose, which would
- 54:33Speaker 3: have made me seventeen. Sorry, sorry, ladies, go around terrifying nose,
- 54:38Speaker 3: h terrifying Low's dizney Hires, creamy middles.
- 54:41Speaker 4: Creamy sent You always see creamy centers, Yeah, you go
- 54:44Speaker 4: with it, biscuits. Creamy center sounds better. It's the even
- 54:49Speaker 4: though it's doesn't. It's it's pronounced diferently. It's deliteration. Creamy senters.
- 54:54Speaker 3: Yeah, And it would make more sense for Homan to
- 54:56Speaker 3: say this, given that he probably enjoys a creamy biscuit.
- 54:58Speaker 3: He probably enjoys an oreo.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Yeah, but sure, I'll live to be the Dahi of
- 55:01Speaker 4: the so called city fathers who clucked their tongues, shook
- 55:04Speaker 4: their beards and talking about what's to be done with
- 55:06Speaker 4: this horm with Simpson, but just get rid of the sugar.
- 55:10Speaker 4: And that's when the bees arrived themselves.
- 55:15Speaker 3: That was great. I'm defending themselves somehow.
- 55:20Speaker 4: Who would have thought you get so many great moments
- 55:23Speaker 4: out of Homer with a pile of sugar.
- 55:24Speaker 3: I know, but Lisa is now handcrafted.
- 55:28Speaker 4: Because she's obsessed to be beating Allison. Handcrafted all seventy
- 55:31Speaker 4: five characters of Oliver twists and then unfortunately though, it
- 55:34Speaker 4: blows away with the bitter snowstorm. Is it okay? The
- 55:38Speaker 4: important thing is we survived. As a Bart suggests, well,
- 55:41Speaker 4: you think it suggest sabotage, but it's not. If the
- 55:44Speaker 4: joke is you suggest just hosing your name with the host,
- 55:47Speaker 4: Lisa's like, what a bit of sabotage that could work
- 55:49Speaker 4: as well? So the bee keepers here, we get there.
- 55:53Speaker 4: As we discussed, it's quiet quiet. I can see why
- 55:56Speaker 4: you were thought it was Shatner. Yeah, but it's also
- 55:59Speaker 4: very Adam West.
- 56:00Speaker 3: It's almost a bit sort of.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Shedding delivery with Adam West.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Yeah, but also a little zab Branigan and Kiff. Yeah,
- 56:06Speaker 3: it is very much that.
- 56:07Speaker 4: Yeah, if you know what I mean, I'm afraid I don't.
- 56:10Speaker 3: To the big veal you.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Mean, but that's just it's just the Simpson. You die, Bollyicle,
- 56:20Speaker 4: you die Barley. I'm a whate now, and they offer
- 56:24Speaker 4: him two thousand dollars to get the get the hord
- 56:26Speaker 4: back whatever. What's a group of bees called swarm? Swarm
- 56:29Speaker 4: swarm back? Yes, and the restarts hold on. The bees
- 56:32Speaker 4: are going away, so they walk off. It's melting.
- 56:36Speaker 3: It's melting.
- 56:37Speaker 4: Reference Oh what the world? And as Homer says, mountain
- 56:41Speaker 4: of sugar is too much for one man. That's why
- 56:43Speaker 4: they always give it to us. And there's little packets.
- 56:45Speaker 4: Now it's dire rama rama day. And the first thing
- 56:49Speaker 4: we see is the wrath.
- 56:51Speaker 3: Yes, that's very good. Wrath, Yes, yes, very good. Wrath. Utah.
- 56:55Speaker 3: I beg you, I love that? So good is it?
- 56:59Speaker 3: I beg you to look at He's second, You're fat ship.
- 57:05Speaker 4: He shows him restrained, but then brings in an e
- 57:09Speaker 4: fake and creates a diversion.
- 57:11Speaker 3: Turn this weight right now, Barton, he's doing stuff. I
- 57:14Speaker 3: love that he's doing stuff.
- 57:16Speaker 4: But also Skinner stop creating a diversion to get out
- 57:18Speaker 4: of here. But then it's revealed she swapped the dioramas
- 57:23Speaker 4: and it's just a cow's heart and Skinner really goes
- 57:26Speaker 4: to town on Allison. It's like he has this random
- 57:30Speaker 4: it becomes about him, his own life, elementary schools where
- 57:33Speaker 4: I ended up and it's truly do anything about it now,
- 57:34Speaker 4: It's like, oh ship, this guy has issues.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Frankly, I'm starting to regret skipping your head.
- 57:57Speaker 4: I mean, I think I hear something.
- 58:01Speaker 3: Why here's Allison's real Diama he got misplaced?
- 58:07Speaker 1: Oh well it changes everything. Let's have a look. Get
- 58:09Speaker 1: the ribbon roady, Oh little sterile, no real insight. What
- 58:18Speaker 1: do you think, miss Hoover? This has been a very
- 58:22Speaker 1: disappointing day, and Lisa Simpson, you're.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Showing now, Lise back to the way I behave. I
- 58:28Speaker 3: don't deserve to win.
- 58:30Speaker 1: Well, this doesn't deserve to win.
- 58:32Speaker 4: What I love that because in most shows Alison would
- 58:36Speaker 4: have won.
- 58:36Speaker 3: Yes, you get a moral lesson out of it. I
- 58:39Speaker 3: think they're beaten by Package Star Wars figures. That's the
- 58:42Speaker 3: greatest man.
- 58:46Speaker 4: They're all here, still in the display box, Luke and
- 58:50Speaker 4: Chewie my favorite Jewey, they're all here.
- 58:52Speaker 3: What do you think? I think it's lunchtime.
